  • Eagles-Commanders Week 16 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles have a few new additions to their injury report, and they’ll have a short week to get ready for their Saturday Week 16 matchup with the Washington Commanders. The Commanders will be without starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, who the team has decided to shut down for the rest of the season.

Here’s the Eagles-Commanders injury report, with analysis.

Player  Injury  Tues*  Wed  Thurs Status
    RT Lane Johnson Foot DNP
    iDL Jalen Carter  Shoulders  DNP
    RB Saquon Barkley  Stinger  DNP
    LG Landon Dickerson  Calf  DNP
    OT Fred Johnson  Ankle  DNP
    FB Cameron Latu  Stinger  DNP
    RB Tank Bigsby  Illness  Limited
    EDE Jaelan Phillips  Knee  Full
    LB Zack Baun  Hand  Full
    OT Cameron Williams  Shoulder  Full

    Tuesday notes (Walkthrough, estimation only):

    • Lane Johnson is still not yet practicing, but he is expected to make his return to the field Saturday against the Commanders. We’ll see.

    • Jalen Carter still isn’t practicing yet either, though the Eagles defense has been stellar without him the last two weeks.

    • Landon Dickerson played through his calf injury Week 15, and did not look right.

    • Saquon Barkley’s stinger was unknown until now. The Eagles are just two days removed from their win over the Raiders, so we’ll get a better sense if his injury is serious if he continues to be a DNP on Wednesday. He seemed fine in the locker room after the Raiders game, for whatever that is worth. Same with Fred Johnson.

    • Jalen Hurts seemed to hurt his lower leg on an awkward tackle against the Raiders, but he does not appear on the injury report.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

S Andrew Mukuba (IR, eligible to come off of IR after Week 16): Mukuba has had an up and down rookie season, but was beginning to earn the trust of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. On the season, Mukuba has 46 tackles and 2 INTs. He will be eligible to come off of IR next week, though Marcus Epps has played well in his absence.

WR Johnny Wilson (IR, knee/ankle, out for the season): Wilson is a massive receiver at 6’6, 228 who carved out a dirty work role as a physical blocker his rookie season in 2024, though sometimes he was a little too aggressive, as he committed four penalties (3 holding, 1 OPI). He wasn’t much of a threat as a receiver, catching only 5 passes for 38 yards and a TD. He played a little over 400 snaps, and actually started four games.

EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo (IR, triceps, eligible to come off of IR at any time, season could be over): Okoronkwo was signed to provide edge depth. He played in just one game (4 snaps) before tearing his triceps.

EDGE Azeez Ojulari (IR, triceps, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Ojulari was the presumed third EDGE defender in the pecking order when he signed with the Eagles as a free agent, but he is now no better than the EDGE7.

FB Ben VanSumeren (IR, knee, out for the season): VanSumeren was poised to take on a bigger role in the Eagles’ offense in 2025 as a full-time fullback, but he tore his patellar tendon on the opening kickoff of the season. His season is over.

iOL Willie Lampkin (IR, season over): Lampkin is an extreme oddity, in that he is a 5’11 offensive lineman who only weighs 290 pounds. He looks like a player you’d create in Madden just for fun. However, coming out of North Carolina he received glowing reviews for his play on the field, and he played well in the preseason after signing with the Rams as an undrafted rookie free agent. The Rams waived Lampkin with an injury designation. The Eagles then claimed him and placed him on their IR.

The Eagles activated Lampkin’s 21-day practice window, which expired. He won’t play this season.

OT Myles Hinton (IR, Eagles opened up 21-day practice window on 11/19): Hinton is a sixth-round rookie who was up and down in training camp. The Eagles placed him on IR with a back injury, and he has not been on the active roster all season.

The Eagles activated Hinton’s 21-day practice window, which expired. He won’t play this season.

OT Cameron Williams (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Williams struggled in training camp, and landed on IR. This is effectively a redshirt season for him. Williams did have his 21-day practice window activated last Thursday, but he remains unlikely to play this season.

Player  Injury  Tues  Wed  Thurs  Status
    LT Laremy Tunsil  Oblique  DNP
    LB Bobby Wagner  Knee/Rest  DNP
    DT Eddie Goldman  Concussion  DNP
    TE Colson Yankoff  Ankle  DNP
    QB Jayden Daniels Elbow Limited
    CB Jonathan Jones  Rib  Full
RB Chris Rodriguez Jr.  Groin  Full
    OT George Fant  Knee  Full
    DE Drake Jackson  Groin/Knee  Full

    Tuesday notes

    • Jayden Daniels has been shut down for the season, in case you missed that. Marcus Mariota will start at quarterback.

    • Starting LT Laremy Tunsil left the Commanders’ Week 15 win over the Giants, but returned to the field later in the game. He did not practice on Tuesday. With the Commanders holding Daniels out for the rest of the season, it’s not out of the question that they might also make sure Tunsil doesn’t make his injury worse by playing hurt. His status will be worth monitoring throughout the week.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

TE Zach Ertz: Ertz had 66 catches for 654 yards and 7 TDs in his first season with the Commanders in 2024. In 2025, he had 50 catches for 504 yards and 4 TDs before he tore his ACL against the Vikings Week 13. He remains second on the team in receiving yards. His season (maybe his career?) is over.

CB Marshon Lattimore: Lattimore looked cooked when he was healthy this season, committing 9 penalties in 9 games. He tore an ACL in November and his season is over. With Lattimore and Trey Amos (below) both on IR, the Commanders’ starters at CB will likely be Mike Sainristil, Noah Igbinoghene, and Antonio Hamilton. So, the Eagles should have some matchup advantages there.

CB Trey Amos: Amos is a second-round rookie who started 8 games this season. 32 tackles, 6 PBUs, 0 INTs. He was up and down this season. Too many missed tackles. He suffered a fractured fibula in November and his season is over.

DE Dorance Armstrong: Armstrong’s season was off to a strong start, as he had 5.5 sacks in 7 games before suffering an undisclosed season-ending knee injury.

DE Deatrich Wise: Wise was set to be part of the Commanders’ D-line rotation this season, but he suffered a season-ending quadriceps injury Week 2.

RB Austin Ekeler: In 2024, Ekeler had 733 yards from scrimmage as the Commanders’ third down back. He tore his Achilles Week 3, ending his season.

WR/RS Luke McCaffrey: McCaffrey had 11 catches for 203 yards and 3 TDs as a receiver, and he was the team’s primary kick returner before suffering a likely season-ending collarbone fracture Week 9 against the Seahawks.

DE Javontae Jean-Baptiste: Jean-Baptiste is a rotational defensive lineman who had a nice start to the season, with 6 tackles and a sack in the Commanders’ first three games. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle way back in Week 3. Usually that’s an injury that players can recover from in-season if they occur early enough, but the Commanders will likely just shut him down for the season.

  • Joel Embiid questionable, Tyrese Maxey doubtful for Sixers-Hawks on Sunday

Joel Embiid (left knee injury management) is questionable to play when the Sixers face the Hawks in Atlanta on Sunday night, according to the team’s initial injury report for the game unveiled on Saturday afternoon, which also lists Tyrese Maxey as doubtful due to the illness responsible for him missing the team’s win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday:

Embiid, who has yet to appear in two games during any three-day span during the season, said he felt “great” after posting his strongest performance of the season to lead the Sixers to victory on Friday night, intimating he was eager to play again on Sunday. However, Embiid acknowledged that to this point the team’s plan to manage his left knee has included multiple days off in between all games. With four-day layoffs before and after this potential first try at playing two games in three nights, perhaps the Sixers feel the time is right to give it a shot.

Maxey was not in attendance as Embiid, Paul George and VJ Edgecombe led the Sixers to their 14th victory of the season; he went from probable to questionable to out due to an illness. It was Maxey’s first absence of the season. It is unclear whether or not he traveled with the team to Atlanta on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Sixers remain past due on substantive updates about the statuses of Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee), who has been sidelined for a month, and Trendon Watford (adductor), whose absence has lasted multiple weeks. The latest information on both is that, according to Sixers head coach Nick Nurse on Thursday, neither player is doing live on-court work, only individual activity.

  • Eagles-Raiders Week 15 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles lost their third straight game on Monday night to the Chargers, but at least they escaped L.A. without any new significant injuries. Their Week 15 opponent, the Las Vegas Raiders, are expected to be without starting quarterback Geno Smith.

Here’s the Eagles-Raiders injury report, with analysis.

    051020EaglesLogo2020

OT Cameron Williams  Shoulder  –  Full   Full  Questionable

    Wednesday notes (Walkthrough, estimation only):

    • There is some optimism that Lane will play in this game, but his DNP is not a great start to the week.

    • Carter was considered “week-to-week” after the procedure on his shoulders. He could miss another game. We’ll see.

    • Dickerson left Monday night’s game with his calf injury, but returned to the field later.

    Thursday notes

    • Dickerson went from limited on Wednesday to a non-participant on Thursday, though it certainly makes sense to get him some rest.

    • Fred Johnson was added to the report today, which is not ideal with Lane Johnson already hurt. Johnson’s addition to the injury report perhaps explains why the Eagles opened the 21-day practice window for Cameron Williams on Thursday.

    Friday notes

    • Lane Johnson and Jalen Carter are both out, as expected.

    • Fred Johnson is good to go.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

    Wednesday notes

    • Several reports have emerged that Geno Smith will not play in this game. Smith injured his right shoulder in the third quarter of the Raiders’ loss to the Broncos on Sunday. He also suffered a cut on his right hand.

Former Eagle Kenny Pickett filled in and played well, completing 8 of 11 passes for 97 yards and a TD against a good Broncos defense.

Smith has had a horrendous season. He leads the NFL with 14 INTs, and his total EPA of -70.73 is ranked 70th in the NFL, only ahead of Titans rookie Cam Ward. The Eagles might very well rather face Smith.

    • Last week, Crosby was on the Raiders’ injury report with a knee injury. He was limited on Wednesday, and he did not practice on Thursday or Friday. He played all 74 snaps against the Broncos, and had 4 tackles and a sack. He has 9 sacks and 2 forced fumbles on the season, and is pretty clearly the Raiders’ best player. My bet is that he’ll play on Sunday, but we’ll keep an eye out for reporting on him throughout the week.

    • Miller is the starting LT. He is on IR, but he returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since Week 4. He was a first-round pick in 2018, and is Vegas’ best offensive lineman, by far. He suffered a high ankle sprain and a hairline fracture Week 4 against the Bears. Stone Forsythe filled in, and has started the last nine games for the Raiders.

    • Chinn is second on the team with 104 tackles. Like Crosby, he also played all 74 snaps against the Broncos.

    Thursday notes:

    • With the exception of Geno Smith, all of the Raiders players who did not participate in practice on Wednesday were limited on Thursday. That’s a positive development for them.

    • Kolton Miller was still limited. The guess here is that he won’t play, especially since the Raiders have nothing to play for.

    Friday notes

    • Smith is officially out. Pickett will start.

    • Miller is officially out as well.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

LT Kolton Miller (IR, 21-day practice window opened on Wednesday): As noted above.

RG Jackson Powers-Johnson (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Powers-Johnson was the Raiders’ starting RG to begin the season. He was the Raiders’ second-round pick in 2024. He suffered an ankle injury against the Broncos Week 10, and his season is likely over. The Raiders’ current starter at RG is Caleb Rogers, a third-round rookie.

CB Kyu Blu-Kelly (will soon be on IR, season over): Blu-Kelly is a starting corner. He had 40 tackles and 3 INTs before suffering a ruptured patellar tendon against the Broncos Week 14. His season is over. The Raiders’ other regular starting corner is Eric Stokes. Third-round rookie Darien Porter filled in for Blu-Kelly after he went down.

  • Joel Embiid out for Sixers-Nets on Friday in ninth straight absence; Paul George questionable and VJ Edgecombe out

Joel Embiid (right knee injury management) will miss his ninth game in a row when the Sixers face the Nets in Brooklyn on Friday night, according to the team’s injury report for the game issued on Thursday evening, while Paul George (right ankle sprain) is questionable, Adem Bona (right ankle sprain) is probable to return and VJ Edgecombe remains out for the third consecutive contest:

Embiid has not played since Nov. 8, when he posted season-highs in points and minutes in a victory over the Toronto Raptors. Embiid had a scripted absence the following night as the Sixers managed his left knee, the subject of an arthroscopic procedure in April and other work in recent years. Embiid seemed to be making considerable progress.

But on the morning of Nov. 11, Embiid came to the team’s pregame shootaround and reported soreness in his right knee. Of his eight consecutive absences, the last seven have been caused by the right knee issue. He has mostly been practicing fully during his absence, and for more than two weeks the Sixers have been adamant that the former NBA MVP was still merely day-to-day. He was initially questionable for Tuesday’s blowout loss to the Orlando Magic, but was ruled out a handful of hours before tip-off. He did not practice on Wednesday, instead going through what the team called an “individual strength and conditioning session.”

George, who missed the first 12 games of the year due to his own left knee surgery recovery, went from probable to out on Tuesday due to a right ankle sprain. Sixers head coach Nick Nurse said that night that it was not yet clear whether or not the nine-time All-Star was going to miss more time, but George was a full participant in the team’s practice on Wednesday.

Edgecombe also participated in that practice, a positive sign after the rookie missed his second game in a row due to a left calf issue. His designation on both injury reports for those absences was “left calf tightness,” but Nurse referred to it as a “strain” on Tuesday. Edgecombe had imaging come back clean, and Nurse acknowledged that the team is inclined to be especially cautious given the links between calf injuries and Achilles injuries. Now he is out once again, but this time a designation of “left calf injury management.”

Bona told PhillyVoice earlier this week that he was “feeling great” as he recovered from a right ankle sprain which has sidelined him for five games. On Wednesday, Bona said that being available to return on Friday was his “big goal,” and he felt like he was “right there.”

The expected absences: Kelly Oubre Jr., whose re-evaluation for a left knee LCL sprain is about a week away, and Trendon Watford, out for at least two weeks due to a left adductor strain the 25-year-old suffered on Tuesday.

  • Eagles-Bears Week 13 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles have had good injury luck for most of the season, but they now have some concerns in their secondary. Their Week 13 opponent, the Chicago Bears, could be razor thin at linebacker.

Here’s the Eagles-Bears injury report, with analysis.

    051020EaglesLogo2020
Player  Injury  *Tues  Wed Thurs  Status
    RT Lane Johnson  Foot  DNP
    WR DeVonta Smith  Shoulder/Chest  DNP
    S Andrew Mukuba  Ankle  DNP
    EDGE Brandon Graham  Groin  DNP
    RS Xavier Gipson  Shoulder  DNP
    RB Saquon Barkley  Groin  Limited
    LG Landon Dickerson  Knee  Limited
    S Reed Blankenship  Thigh  Limited
CB Adoree’ Jackson  “Gameday concussion protocol evaluation”  Full
    iOL Willie Lampkin  Knee/Ankle  Full
    OT Myles Hinton  Back  Full

Tuesday notes (*Walkthrough, injuries an estimation from the team):

    • As you likely already know, Lane Johnson injured his Lisfranc, but does not need surgery, and was not placed on IR. He did not play against the Cowboys, and almost certainly won’t play against the Bears. Fred Johnson will fill in as the starter again.

    • DeVonta Smith’s appearance on the injury report wasn’t expected, as he did not exit the Dallas game. We’ll likely get more information on him on Wednesday, but he has been a DNP on the first practice of the week in the past and has played, so no need for high concern yet.

    • Andrew Mukuba has a broken ankle and is going to be out a while. He will likely go on IR at some point this week. He is somewhere around the 14th-best player on the Eagles’ defense, but his loss is particularly harmful because it’s going to force Vic Fangio to have to start Sydney Brown for the foreseeable future.

Fangio said that Reed Blankenship should be good to go for Friday, so the Eagles at least dodged a bullet there.

Still, the Eagles are likely going to have to add a safety to the gameday roster, because Marcus Epps is on IR for at least one more game. I would expect that the Eagles will elevate Andre’ Sam from the practice squad.

    • Adoree’ Jackson came out of the Dallas game with a head injury, and was evaluated for a concussion. He cleared the concussion protocol, but was kept out of the game as a precaution. The Eagles are required to list players who don’t finish games on their next injury report, but he is good to go for Friday.

    • Saquon Barkley appeared on the injury report prior to the Packers game Week 10 after injuring his groin in the Eagles’ Week 8 win over the Giants.

    • Graham’s injury is new. We’ll update when we learn more.

    • The Eagles should just IR Gipson, who has not been a positive contributor as a punt returner, to put it mildly.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

S Marcus Epps (IR, eligible to come off of IR after Week 13): Epps appeared in eight games for the Eagles before he landed on IR with an undisclosed injury. He absence is particularly noteworthy because of Mukuba’s injury

EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo (IR, triceps, eligible to come off of IR at any time, season could be over): Okoronko was signed to provide edge depth. He played in just one game (4 snaps), before tearing his triceps.

EDGE Azeez Ojulari (IR, triceps, eligible to come off of IR after Week 13): Ojulari was the presumed third EDGE defender in the pecking order when he signed with the Eagles as a free agent, but he is now no better than the EDGE7.

FB Ben VanSumeren (IR, knee, out for the season): VanSumeren was poised to take on a bigger role in the Eagles’ offense in 2025 as a full-time fullback, but he tore his patellar tendon on the opening kickoff of the season. His season is over.

LS Charley Hughlett (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Hughlett throws the ball through his legs. The Eagles signed Cal Adomitis to throw the ball through his legs in place of Hughlett, and he has played well, even contributing as a tackler on the punt coverage unit.

iOL Willie Lampkin (IR, Eagles opened up 21-day practice window on 11/6): Lampkin is an extreme oddity, in that he is a 5’11 offensive lineman who only weighs 290 pounds. He looks like a player you’d create in Madden just for fun. However, coming out of North Carolina he received glowing reviews for his play on the field, ands he played well in the preseason after signing with the Rams as an undrafted rookie free agent. The Rams waived Lampkin with an injury designation. The Eagles then claimed him and place him on their IR.

OT Myles Hinton (IR, Eagles opened up 21-day practice window on 11/19): Hinton is a sixth-round rookie who was up and down in training camp. The Eagles placed him on IR with a back injury, and he has not been on the active roster all season.

OT Cameron Williams (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Williams struggled in training camp, and landed on IR. This is effectively be a redshirt season for him.

Tuesday notes (*Walkthrough, injuries an estimation from the team)

    • The Bears are very banged up at linebacker. Tremaine Edmunds leads the team with 89 tackles. The next closest player on Chicago’s roster has just 59 tackles. Edmunds also has 4 INTs and 9 pass breakups. Pro Bowl-caliber season. He was placed on IR after suffering a groin injury against the Vikings Week 11. He won’t play against the Eagles.

Old friend T.J. Edwards is the Bears’ other starting linebacker. He has missed six games this season, including the last three against the Giants, Vikings, and Steelers. He did not participate in practice on Tuesday.

Noah Sewell is the Bears’ LB3. He did not play Week 12 against the Steelers, and did not participate in practice on Tuesday. The Bears’ linebacker snap counts Week 12 were as follows:

    72 snaps: D’Marco Jackson
    42 snaps: Amen Ogbongbemiga
    12 snaps: Ruben Hyppolite II

Hyppolite started alongside Jackson, but left with a shoulder injury, and did not practice on Tuesday.

Obviously, the Bears’ linebacker situation will be worth monitoring closely throughout the week. They are potentially razor thin there.

    • The Bears also have a lot of injuries at cornerback. Jaylon Johnson has made the Pro Bowl the last two seasons, and he signed a four-year deal worth $76 million. He is currently on injured reserve, but the Bears opened his 21-day practice window last week. Obviously, he did not play Week 12 against the Steelers or he would not still be on IR.

Kyler Gordon is the Bears’ top slot corner. He is also on IR, but like Johnson above, the Bears opened his 21-day practice window last week. Gordon has only played in two games this season.

Both Johnson and Gordon were full practice participants on Tuesday.

In their absences, the Bears have gotten good play from 6’4 CB Nahshon Wright, who has a share of the NFL lead in INTs, with 5. The embattled Tyrique Stevenson (of Bears-Commanders Hail Mary infamy) has also mostly played well this season. The Bears will have some decisions to make at corner should Johnson and/or Gordon return to the lineup, but it’s a good problem to have.

    • Theo Benedet has been the Bears’ starting LT most of the season. Braxton Jones was the Week 1 starter, however, he was benched after Week 4 in favor of Benedet. Jones has since been relegated to special teams duties, and he landed on IR with a knee injury. Benedet started seven games before missing the Bears’ Week 12 matchup against the Steelers with a quad injury. Second-round rookie Ozzy Trapilo filled in as the starting LT in that game. Benedet was a full participant in practice on Tuesday, but he may have been Willy Pipp’d by Trapilo.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

LB Tremaine Edmunds (IR, eligible to come off of IR after Week 15): As noted above.

CB Jaylon Johnson (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): As noted above.

CB Kyler Gordon (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time)>: As noted above.

DE Dayo Odeyingbo (IR, season over): Odeyingbo has started in 8 games for the Bears this season. He has 21 tackles and 1 sack. He tore his Achilles Week 9 against the Bengals, and his season is over. Second-year pro Austin Booker has since filled in as the starter opposing Montez Sweat.

OT Braxton Jones (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Jones has been the Bears’ starting LT since he was a rookie in 2022. However, he was benched after Week 4 in favor of 2024 UDFA Theo Benedet. Jones has since been relegated to special teams duties, and he landed on IR with a knee injury.

CB Terell Smith (IR, season over): Smith was a 2023 fifth-round pick, who played 377 snaps in 2023, and 207 in 2024 as a reserve outside corner. Smith tore his patellar tendon during a preseason game, and his season is over.

DT Shemar Turner (IR, season over): Turner is a second-round rookie who has played in five games this season as a rotational D-lineman. 6 tackles, 0 sacks. He tore an ACL Week 8 against the Ravens, and his season is over.

OT Kiran Amegadjie (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Amegadjie was a 2024 third-round pick. He played 126 snaps as a rookie, but has not yet played in 2025. Amegadjie landed on IR in September with an elbow injury.

  • Eagles-Cowboys Week 12 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a potentially highly consequential injury against the Detroit Lions Week 11, when they lost Lane Johnson likely for a least a month with a Lisfranc sprain. The Dallas Cowboys recently had some important players return to the field, and they are pretty healthy for a Week 12 game.

Here’s the Eagles-Cowboys injury report, with analysis.

    051020EaglesLogo2020
Player  Injury  Wed  Thurs Fri  Status
RT Lane Johnson Foot  DNP  DNP  DNP Out
C Cam Jurgens  Concussion  DNP  Limited  Full  Questionable
EDGE Jaelan Phillips  Shoulder  Limited  Full  Full  –
OT Miles Hinton  Back  Full  Full  Full  Questionable
iOL Willie Lampkin  Knee/Ankle  Full  Full  Full  Questionable

    Wednesday notes:

    • Lane Johnson has had a tough 2025 season. He left the Week 3 Rams game with a neck injury, the Week 4 Buccaneers game with a shoulder injury, the Week 10 Packers game with an ankle injury, and most recently, the Week 11 Lions game with his Linfranc injury. Johnson will likely end up on injured reserve, but the Eagles have not yet made that roster move.

Whenever Johnson has had to come out of games this season, he has been replaced by Fred Johnson, who was the team’s swing tackle in 2024 but who left in free agency last offseason. He returned via trade just before the start of the 2025 season. Fred Johnson has played as reasonably well as anyone could have hoped for in Lane Johnson’s absence. However, it’s worth noting that Fred Johnson has not yet started any games, so opposing defensive coordinators almost certainly haven’t spent a lot of time picking apart his tape and trying to exploit any weaknesses they might find. The Cowboys will.

Another concern is if the Eagles will need to count on Matt Pryor at any point, should Fred Johnson or Jordan Mailata go down.

    • Jurgens has had a tough season, too. He missed the bulk of training camp while still recovering from back surgery. He wasn’t 100 percent healed when the season began, but he played through it, and hasn’t been the same player he was a year ago. Jurgens suffered a knee injury against the Lions, and did not return. He now appears on the injury report with a concussion. Jurgens has missed two games this season, and it feels like he’ll miss third against the Cowboys. We’ll see. There’s an argument to be made that replacement Brett Toth has played better at center when Jurgens has been out.

    • The Eagles opened up the 21-day practice window for Hinton’s return from IR. Lane Johnson’s injury probably has something to do with that.

    • This will be Lampkin’s third week of practice. He remains on IR, though.

    Thursday notes:

    • Jurgens practiced. He might be good to go for Sunday after all.

    Friday notes

    • Jurgens is listed as questionable, but as full practice participant he’s likely to play.

    Saturday notes:

    • Jurgens will play. The Eagles announced on Saturday that they have removed his “questionable” status.

    • Also, they announced that WR DeVonta Smith will travel separately from the team to the game, for personal reasons, but he will play.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo (IR, triceps, eligible to come off of IR at any time, season could be over): Okoronko was signed to provide edge depth. He played in just one game (4 snaps), before tearing his triceps.

The Eagles signed Cal Adomitis to throw the ball through his legs in place of Hughlett, and he has played well, even contributing as a tackler on the punt coverage unit.

iOL Willie Lampkin (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Lampkin is an extreme oddity, in that he is a 5’11 offensive lineman who only weighs 290 pounds.

OT Myles Hinton: Hinton is a sixth-round rookie who was up and down in training camp. The Eagles placed him on IR with a back injury, and he has not been on the active roster all season.

DT Perrion Winfrey  Back  Full  Full  Full
OT Hakeem Adeniji  Illness  –  –  DNP  Questionable

Wednesday notes (walkthrough, injuries an estimation)

    • Prescott is fine, just soreness, per head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

    • Smith is the Cowboys’ best offensive lineman. He played every snap against the Raiders Monday night. He’ll likely play.

    • Hooker and Wilson are starting safeties who both returned to the field against the Raiders Week 11 after missing time. Hooker had missed the previous five games; Wilson missed the previous two. Hooker played particularly well against the Raiders.

    • Fowler has 7 tackles, 2 sacks this season. Clowney has 8 tackles, 2 sacks. They’re both part of the edge rusher rotation.

    Thursday notes

    • Dak was a full participant. He’s good to go.

    • Hooker didn’t practice, but not for injury reasons.

    Friday notes:

    • Everyone on the Cowboys’ injury report is good to go for Sunday, except Clowney and Adeniji, who are both listed as questionable. Adeniji is a new addition to the report. He is a backup tackle.)

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

CB Trevon Diggs (IR, eligible to return after Week 12): Diggs was unexpectedly available for the Eagles-Cowboys matchup Week 1 after rehabbing a knee injury all offseason. He played in six games this season before landing on IR with a head injury suffered in his own home. He also has a knee injury, though it’s not the same knee he rehabbed during the offseason. Diggs was one of the NFL’s premier ballhawks, but he is not close to the player he once was. The Cowboys’ CB snaps looked like this Week 11 in Las Vegas:

    • Caelen Carson: 60 snaps
    • DaRon Bland: 57 snaps
    • Shavon Revel (NFL debut): 19 snaps

LB Jack Sanborn (IR, eligible to return after Week 13): Sanborn was a starting linebacker for the Cowboys, but he landed on IR with a groin injury. At the trade deadline, the Cowboys added Logan Wilson, who has taken over part of Sanborn’s role.

S Juanyeh Thomas (NFI, eligible to return after Week 14): Thomas is the Cowboys’ third safety. He has been suffering from migraines, so the Cowboys placed him on the non-football injury list. He’ll miss at least four games.

OG Rob Jones (IR): Jones suffered a fracture in his neck, and his season is over. He signed with the Cowboys this offseason on a one-year deal worth $3.75 million. He was poised to be an important backup, active on gamedays.

RB Miles Sanders (IR): Sanders’ season is over with knee/ankle injuries. His fumble Week 1 against the Eagles was probably the biggest play of the game. The Eagles would have probably preferred that Sanders be healthy for this matchup.

CB Josh Butler (IR): Butler is a depth corner who started three games for the Cowboys last season. He has not played in any games this season.

RB Phil Mafah (IR): Seventh-round rookie, got some positive training camp buzz, has missed the entire season so far with a shoulder injury.

DE Payton Turner (IR): Turner busted as a Saints first-round pick, but he was expected to play a supporting role on the Cowboys’ D-line this season. He’s been on IR all season so far with broken ribs.

OG Trevor Keegan (IR): Our old friend.

    • We should also mention DE Marshawn Kneeland, who had 12 tackles and a sack in a rotational role before he passed away.

  • Sixers list Paul George questionable to make season debut vs. former team on Monday; Joel Embiid out vs. Clippers

Nine-time All-Star Paul George appears to be primed to make his season debut for the Sixers on Monday night against his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers. The Sixers listed George as questionable to play on their injury report unveiled on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid remains out due to a right knee issue:

George had multiple left knee injuries during his debut season with the Sixers, only logging 41 appearances while also being derailed by ailments related to his finger and groin. The nine-time All-Star injured his left knee again during the offseason, requiring an arthroscopic procedure in July. George has not yet played in 2025-26 despite fully participating in Sixers practices for a month now, causing significant frustration among fans. The latest substantive update on George’s status came on Tuesday, when the Sixers said his final step before returning was strengthening his left quadricep.

Embiid, who has played in half of the Sixers’ dozen games to begin the season, has not appeared in a game since Nov. 8, his best and longest performance of the campaign to date. The next day came his fourth absence of the season; all four of those missed games came as planned rest days as the team managed his troubled left knee. But he has missed the Sixers’ last two games because of soreness he reported in his right knee, though imaging confirmed there is no structural damage. His designation has changed from “right knee soreness” to “right knee injury management.”

Elsewhere, the Sixers said on Sunday afternoon that Kelly Oubre Jr. and Adem Bona would both be out for Monday’s game. Oubre suffered a left knee hyperextension during the team’s loss to the Detroit Pistons on Friday, missing the second half of the game. The Sixers said on Sunday that Oubre’s injury involved his LCL and his return timeline was unclear. His official designation on the injury report: “left knee sprain.”

Bona, meanwhile, suffered a right ankle sprain in Detroit and will miss at least three games, beginning with Monday’s contest. The earliest Bona could return is on Thursday night in Milwaukee, the second leg of the team’s next back-to-back.

Jared McCain, who missed the Sixers’ last game because he was on assignment in the G League, has been recalled to the team, practiced with the group on Sunday and, according to Nurse, is going to be part of the rotation on Monday. He is officially available.

  • Eagles-Lions Week 11 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles had their bye Week 9, so they were relatively fresh heading into their Week 10 game against the Packers. They escaped Green Bay without any significant injuries, as there were no absentees on Wednesday in advance of their matchup against the Detroit Lions. The Lions listed 16 players on their initial injury report.

Here’s the Eagles-Lions injury report, with analysis.

    • As you can see above, four of the Eagles’ five starting offensive linemen are banged up, and were listed as limited participants in the Eagles’ initial practice. Otherwise, they’re in great shape heading into Week 10.

    • There’s not a lot to say. The Eagles are super healthy. Jurgens is the only starter on the team who is not a full participant in practice.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo (IR, triceps, eligible to come off of IR at any time, season could be over): Okoronko was signed to provide edge depth. He played in just one game (4 snaps), before tearing his triceps.

The Eagles signed Cal Adomitis to throw the ball through his legs in place of Hughlett.

LB Malcolm Rodriguez  Knee  Full  Full
CB Amik Robertson  Hamstring  –  Limited

    Wednesday notes

    • Sewell’s, Hutchinson’s, and LaPorta’s injuries are new. Sewell left the Lions’ last game against the Commanders with his ankle injury, but returned. Hutchinson played 50 of 54 snaps. The guess here is that they’re both probably fine. LaPorta is a little more of a mystery. We’ll get a better idea if their injuries are serious if they don’t practice on Thursday.

    • Joseph last played in a game Week 6 against the Chiefs. He continues to miss practices.

    • Reed is a starting corner who signed a three-year deal worth $48 million this offseason. He suffered a hamstring injury against the Browns Week 4, and was placed on IR. He has 16 tackles, 1 INT, and 4 PBUs in 4 games this season. The Lions starters with Reed out have been Terrion Arnold, Amik Robertson, and slot CB Arthur Maulet. The Lions opened up Reed’s 21-day practice window this week.

Arnold missed Wednesday’s practice with a concussion, so the Lions could be thin in their secondary.

    • Davenport began the season as a starter, but he landed on IR with a pectoral strain. Dan Campbell recently said that Davenport could return around the end of November. The Lions opened his 21-day practice window this week.

    Thursday notes:

    • Sewell and Hutchinson were back at practice. They’ll very likely play on Sunday night.

    • LaPorta’s second straight day of missing practice has to be a big concern for the Lions.

    • Joseph feels unlikely to play, and we already know that Reed is unlikely as well. If Arnold can’t play because of his concussion, the Lions could be without three starting DBs. Add in that Amik Robertson is a new addition to the injury report and the Lions could have major depth issues in their secondary, particularly at corner.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

LG Christian Mahogany (IR, eligible to return after Week 13): Mahogany is the Lions’ starting LG. He was placed on IR last week with a knee injury. Former Eagle Kayode Awosika started Week 10 against the Commanders. The Lions also lost C Frank Ragnow to retirement this offseason.

CB D.J. Reed (IR, hamstring, 21-day practice window opened): As noted above.

EDGE Marcus Davenport (IR, pectoral, 21-day practice window opened): As noted above.

iDL Levi Onwuzurike (PUP, season over): Onwuzurike had surgery during the summer to repair an ACL injury, and his season is over. Onwuzurike doesn’t have impressive production (3.5 sacks in 2024), but he was a starter.

DL Josh Paschal (NFI, 21-day practice  window opened last week): Paschal had surgery to repair a back injury this offseason. He played in 14 games last season, starting 10. He had 21 tackles and 2 sacks. The Lions opened his 21-day practice window last week.

LB Malcolm Rodriguez (PUP, 21-day practice window opened 10/27): Rodriguez had 42 tackles and 2 sacks before tearing an ACL in late November last season. He has not yet played in any games this season. The Lions opened his 21-day practice window on October 27.

LB Zach Cunningham (IR, eligible to come off of IR after Week 12): The former Eagle has played in 4 games for the Lions this season as a reserve run-down linebacker. He had 7 tackles.

OT Giovanni Manu (IR, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Manu is a backup OT who started at LT in place of an injured Taylor Decker against the Bengals Week 5. PFF had him down for 2 sacks allowed in that game.

CB Khalil Dorsey (IR, wrist/concussion, eligible to come off of IR at any time): Dorsey is a backup DB, mostly in the slot.

CB Ennis Rakestraw (IR, season over): Rakestraw was a 2024 second-round pick who has had an assortment of injuries, and not a lot of playing time. His season is over after having surgery on a shoulder injury suffered during training camp.

  • Eagles-Packers Week 10 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles had their bye Week 9, so they should be fresh heading into an important stretch of games against the Green Bay Packers Week 10, the Detroit Lions Week 11, and the Dallas Cowboys Week 12. The Packers initially listed 13 players on their injury report.

Here’s the Eagles-Packers injury report, with analysis.

CB Jakorian Bennett  Pectoral  Full  Full  Full  Questionable
G/C Willie Lampkin  Knee/Ankle  Full  Full  Full  Questionable

    Thursday notes:

    • Jurgens’ lack of practice is noteworthy coming out of the bye. His knee injury can’t be a long-term concern, seeing as the team did not place him on IR prior to their Week 8 game against the Giants. But we’ll monitor his progress (or lack thereof) as the week continues. Brett Toth played well at center against the Giants in relief of Jurgens.

    • Ojomo’s limited practice status with a concussion means that he probably wouldn’t have played if the Eagles had a game Week 9. But as a limited participant in practice on Thursday, he should be good to go for Monday. Jackson, too.

    • Brown said that he’s playing.

    • Barkley hobbled off the field with a groin injury after a long run Week 8, and he did not return. His status was in question heading into this week. Full participation is a good result.

    • The Eagles opened the 21-day practice window for Smith and he was a full participant, so his chances of playing on Monday feel pretty good.

    • Brandon Graham appeared on the practice report last week. He’s not on there anymore.

    Friday notes

    • Jurgens remains out. His available for Monday feels doubtful. We’ll see.

    • Ojomo was a full participant. Good news for him.

    • Jackson did not practice, but it was due to a personal matter.

    Saturday notes

    • Jurgens is out. Toth will almost certainly start at center.

    • Everyone else practiced in full on Saturday, though Smith, Bennett, and Lampkin are listed as questionable. Smith is the player who matters of the three, by far, and he is expected to play.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

EDGE Nolan Smith (IR, triceps, 21-day practice window opened): In 2024, Smith got out to a slow start, but the light seemed to come on for him after the Week 5 bye. In the 15 games he played from October on, Smith had 10.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, and he did a lot of the dirty work in the defense like taking on pulling guards and burying them. He also led the NFL with four postseason sacks. He tore his triceps in the Super Bowl. Smith entered the 2025 as the team’s top edge defender. Through the first three games he had 10 tackles and 0 sacks, before “tweaking” his triceps injury.

Smith has missed five games, but the Eagles activated his 21-day practice window on Tuesday.

CB Jakorian Bennett (IR, pectoral, 21-day practice window opened): The Eagles traded for Bennett in early August at a time when existing corners Adoree’ Jackson and Kelee Ringo were struggling during training camp.

The CB2 spot in the Eagles’ defense has not yet stabilized, so it will be interesting to see if and when Bennett gets a chance to play. The Eagles opened Bennett’s 21-day practice window prior to their Week 8 matchup against the Giants.

EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo (IR, triceps, eligible to come off of IR after Week 8, but will be out much longer than that): Okoronko was signed to provide edge depth. He played in just one game (4 snaps), before tearing his triceps.

The Eagles signed Cal Adomitis to throw the ball through his legs in place of Hughlett.

    Thursday notes

    • The Packers signed Hobbs to a four-year, $48 million deal this offseason. He’ll miss a couple of weeks, per Matt LaFleur. The Packers will likely start Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine at CB on Monday night, with Javon Bullard in the slot.

    • Van Ness was the 13th overall pick in 2023, and is part of the Packers’ D-line rotation. He has 1.5 sacks, but has missed the Packers’ last three games. He did not practice on Thursday.

    • The Packers’ passing game weapons are very banged up.

    1. Tucker Kraft’s season is over (as noted below).
    2. Jayden Reed is on IR (as noted below).
    3. Christian Watson is on a bit of a pitch count after returning to the field from a 2024 torn ACL.
    4. Golden left the Packers’ loss to the Panthers with a shoulder injury.
    5. Wicks did not play Week 9 against the Panthers.
    6. Williams got hurt against the Panthers Week 9, and also had a devastating fumble in the red zone.

    • Tom is the starting RT and probably the Packers’ best lineman. He has dealt with oblique, back, and hip injuries this season.

    • Banks is the starting LG. He suffered a stinger Week 9 against the Panthers, and Sean Rhyan filled in.

    • Parsons is a star player, obviously, and Cooper is becoming one. Their injuries are new, and worth watching as the week progresses.

    Friday notes

    • The Packers added WR Malik Heath to their injury report, as if they didn’t already have enough hurt receivers.

    • Golden went from a limited participant on Thursday to a non-participant on Friday.

    Saturday notes:

    • Hobbs and Van Ness are out.

    • The most notable player with a “questionable” designation is Tom, who has been banged up all season, as noted above.

    • Three receivers — Golden, Wicks, and Williams — are all questionable, while Reed remains on IR.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

TE Tucker Kraft (IR, torn ACL, season over): Kraft was having an All-Pro type of season, with 32 catches for 489 yards and 6 TDs through the Packers’ first 8 games, but he tore his ACL during their Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers, and his season is over. He is the Packers’ leader in receiving yards and receiving TDs.

WR Jayden Reed (IR, shoulder/foot, eligible to return from IR at any time): Reed is probably the Packers’ best receiver. In 2024, he led the team in receptions (55) and receiving yards (857), and had 6 TDs. He had a big game in Brazil against the Eagles, catching 4 passes for 138 yards and a TD, plus a 33-yard TD run. Reed had concurrent surgeries on a broken clavicle and a Jones fracture in his foot in September. He is eligible to come off of IR at any time, but is extremely unlikely to play Week 10 against the Eagles:

EDGE Brenton Cox (IR, groin, eligible to return at any time): Cox is a backup edge defender who had 4 sacks in 7 games for the Packers in 2024.

LB Nick Niemann (IR, pectoral, eligible to return after Week 12): Niemann is a sneaky important player for the Packers, as he is fifth in the NFL with 11 special teams tackles. He suffered a pectoral injury Week 8 against the Steelers.

  • Joel Embiid and Jared McCain available for Sixers-Raptors on Saturday, Paul George (knee) remains out ahead of ‘final hurdle’ meeting with doctors

Joel Embiid and Jared McCain are not listed on the Sixers’ initial injury report ahead of Saturday night’s home contest against the Toronto Raptors, while Paul George (knee) and Dominick Barlow (elbow) remain out:

Embiid sat in the Sixers’ loss to Cleveland on Wednesday, the second leg of the team’s second back-to-back of the season. With another back-to-back on the docket, it appears Embiid will play against Toronto on Saturday before sitting against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. The same will be true for McCain, who also sat in Cleveland. According to head coach Nick Nurse on Friday afternoon, McCain is not yet at the stage of being available on consecutive nights.

Meanwhile, the Sixers said on Friday that George would be meeting with doctors over the weekend to determine the next steps in his recovery. While that initially appeared to indicate a longer timeline than the one the team has been projecting publicly, Nurse clarified moments later that he believes this meeting with doctors is “the last hurdle” for George to be cleared for game action. George has been fully participating in Sixers practices for more than three weeks.

Barlow, who started the first two games of the season for the Sixers at power forward, missed the second half of the team’s home opener due to an elbow laceration which eventually required a procedure. Sixers head coach Nick Nurse said on Sunday in Brooklyn that Barlow was wearing a brace which was needed to keep his arm straight so the wound would heal. He did not describe the injury as too serious but acknowledged it had already been trickier than the team had anticipated. The Sixers added on Friday that Barlow’s surgeon will be consulted on Monday, which means the 22-year-old will be sidelined for both legs of the back-to-back.

  • Sixers guard Jared McCain probable to make season debut on Tuesday

Jared McCain is probable to make his season debut on Tuesday night against the Bulls, as Tim Bontemps of ESPN reported would be the case, while Joel Embiid is not listed on the Sixers’ injury report for Tuesday’s road game against the Chicago Bulls, the first leg of the team’s second back-to-back of the 2025-26 season.

It indicates that McCain is going to suit up for the first time since Dec. 13 of last year, and that Embiid will sit Wednesday night when the Sixers travel to face the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Otherwise, the report is status quo:

Embiid did not play in the Sixers’ win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, and a source told PhillyVoice that it was a planned absence, not a response to any new issues with his left knee. Among the Sixers’ top priorities in the management of Embiid’s health early in the season is padding his appearances with as many off days as possible.

Paul George (knee) appears to be inching closer to making his season debut; he has been practicing in full of late. An update on Dominick Barlow (elbow) is expected in the coming days; he has not played since the first half of the Sixers’ second game of the season.

  • Paul George (knee) remains out for Sixers-Celtics in NBA Cup opener, Joel Embiid not listed on injury report

Paul George (knee) will remain out when the Sixers host the Boston Celtics in their NBA Cup Group Play opener on Friday night, according to their initial injury report for the game unveiled on Thursday. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid is not listed on the injury report, indicating he is set to start for the fourth time in five chances:

Jared McCain, whose third-year team option was officially picked up on Thursday afternoon, was a full participant in the team’s practice hours earlier, but it was a light practice without contact, head coach Nick Nurse said. Meanwhile, two-way power forward Dominick Barlow will miss at least two more games after undergoing a procedure to address an elbow laceration.

THE SIXERS ARE 4-0 (INSTANT OBSERVATIONS)

  • Joel Embiid out for Sixers-Magic on Monday in front end of back-to-back, Paul George remains out

Joel Embiid is among five Sixers ruled out for the team’s home game against the Orlando Magic on Monday, according to an injury report issued by the team on Sunday evening:

    Player Injury Status
Joel Embiid Left knee injury management OUT
Dominick Barlow Right elbow laceration OUT
Paul George Left knee surgery recovery OUT
Trendon Watford Left hamstring tightness OUT
Jared McCain Right thumb surgery recovery OUT

There is no change in the statuses of Paul George (knee), Trendon Watford (hamstring) and Jared McCain (thumb), though the first two appear closer to making their season debuts. Dominick Barlow missed the second half of the Sixers’ win over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday after suffering an elbow laceration, and the Sixers said he will miss at least two games as he undergoes a procedure to address the wound. Barlow will be reevaluated later this week.

Many expected Embiid to play on Monday against a strong Magic team before sitting the following night when the Sixers take on the lowly Washington Wizards on the road, but the Sixers have opted to go in the other direction, likely for the sake of padding Embiid’s appearances with multiple off days as often as possible in the early stages of his return to action.

  • Paul George (knee) remains out for Sixers-Hornets, Joel Embiid not listed on injury report

Paul George (knee) will remain out when the Sixers play their home opener against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night, according to the team’s initial injury report unveiled on Friday. But after playing 20 lackluster minutes in the team’s comeback win over the Boston Celtics to kick off the 2025-26 campaign on Wednesday night, Joel Embiid is not listed on the report, indicating he is set to play again, likely on a 20-minute restriction. Otherwise, Jared McCain (thumb) and Trendon Watford (hamstring) remain out for the Sixers.

    Player Injury Status
Paul George Left knee surgery recovery OUT
Jared McCain Right thumb surgery recovery OUT
Trendon Watford Left hamstring tightness OUT
Justin Edwards Right rib soreness PROBABLE

George has been practicing for a while now, and he appears on the verge of making a season debut. Last week, ESPN reported that George was expected to return to action “shortly into the regular season.”

McCain’s season debut will not come in October, while Watford appears to be getting closer. His hamstring has been an issue for at least a month or so, but Watford was donning a practice jersey when doors opened to the media after Friday’s practice, an indication he is participating in some live action. Additionally, Watford was doing some heavy running after practice.

  • Joel Embiid full participant in ‘heavy’ Sixers practice with opening night three days away

CAMDEN, N.J. – Joel Embiid was a full participant in the Sixers’ practice on Sunday morning, the team said, and head coach Nick Nurse later characterized it as “a pretty heavy day.”

Embiid played in his first preseason game since 2023 on Friday night, logging about 20 minutes across four stints in three quarters. He was largely very good, scoring 14 points to go with eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals. However, it always felt that how Embiid’s troubled left knee responded to his first game action in nearly eight months was far more important than how he looked in that game itself.

The Sixers will begin the 2025-26 regular season in Boston on Wednesday night, with two days off in between that game against the Celtics and the team’s home opener against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. Embiid appears on the verge of suiting up for opening night. While Paul George was also a full participant in Sunday’s practice, the nine-time All-Star being on the floor in Boston continues to sound unlikely.

  • Eagles-Vikings Week 7 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered their second straight loss Week 6, and they also were without a few of their most important players in that game, in iDL Jalen Carter, LG Landon Dickerson, and CB Quinyon Mitchell. The Eagles do have a mini-bye heading into their Week 7 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, so they will have a little extra time to heal up.

The Vikings are coming off their “real” bye, after playing two straight games in Europe. They have battled injuries all season long, but could be getting a number of key players back in time for the Eagles’ visit to Minnesota.

Here’s the Eagles-Vikings injury report, with analysis.

    051020EaglesLogo2020
Player  Injury  Wed  Thurs Fri  Status
TE Grant Calcaterra Oblique DNP  DNP  DNP  Out
CB Quinyon Mitchell  Hamstring  Limited  Full   Full   –
LG Landon Dickerson  Ankle  Limited  Limited  Full  –
iDL Jalen Carter  Heel  Full  Limited  Limited  Questionable
LB Zack Baun  Finger  Full  Full  Full  –
iDL Jordan Davis  Shoulder  Full  Full  Full  –

    Wednesday notes:

    • Mitchell is the player of highest importance on the Eagles’ injury report this week, seeing as the Vikings employ Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison at receiver. He practiced on Wednesday, which is a good sign for his availability on Sunday.

    • Carter told reporters that he would play on Sunday. He was listed as questionable against the Giants last week, and did not play.

    Thursday notes

    • Mitchell was a full participant. He’s nearly certain to play.

    Friday notes

    • Calcaterra is the only Eagles player ruled out.

    • As noted in the Wednesday notes above, Carter said that he was playing, but that was before he was limited participant on Thursday and Friday. He’s officially listed as questionable.

    Saturday notes

    • It was brought to my attention that I didn’t include Landon Dickerson as questionable. Per the team’s website, Dickerson does not have an injury status designation:

    101825LandonDickersonInjury101825LandonDickersonInjury

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

EDGE Nolan Smith (IR, triceps): In 2024, Smith got out to a slow start, but the light seemed to come on for him after the Week 5 bye.

Through three games he has 10 tackles and 0 sacks. He “tweaked” his triceps injury, and will miss at least four weeks on IR.

CB Jakorian Bennett (IR, pectoral): The Eagles traded for Bennett in early August at a time when existing corners Adoree’ Jackson and Kelee Ringo were struggling during training camp.

WR Johnny Wilson (IR, knee, ankle): Wilson is a massive receiver at 6’6, 228 who carved out a dirty work role as a physical blocker his rookie season in 2024, though sometimes he was a little too aggressive, as he committed four penalties (3 holding, 1 OPI). He wasn’t much of a threat as a receiver, catching only 5 passes for 38 yards and a TD. He played a little over 400 snaps, and actually started four games.

WR Darius Cooper (IR, shoulder): Cooper is an undrafted rookie free agent who was able to crack the 53-man roster after an impressive training camp and preseason. He had begun carving out a role as the “dirty work” receiver after Johnny Wilson was lost for the season.

FB Ben VanSumeren (IR, knee): VanSumeren was poised to take on a bigger role in the Eagles’ offense in 2025 as a full-time fullback, but he tore his patellar tendon on the opening kickoff of the season. His season is over.

LS Charley Hughlett (IR): Hughlett throws the ball through his legs. The Eagles signed Cal Adomitis to throw the ball through his legs in place of Hughlett.

OLB Tyler Batty  Knee  Full  Full  –  Questionable
EDGE Jonathan Greenard  Hamstring  –  Limited    –

    Wednesday notes

    • McCarthy has missed the last three games with his ankle injury. In the two games he did play, he had one good quarter of football, and seven bad quarters. He is not 100 percent yet, but believes he can play:

Wentz has started those three games while McCarthy was out. The Vikings won two of them. Wentz is basically the same guy we knew in Philly – no pocket awareness, misses layups, takes big hits when he runs, but every so often he’ll rip a throw down the field that only a handful of other quarterbacks in the league can make.

My bet: Wentz will start. We’ll see.

    • Van Ginkel has only played in two games so far this season. He’s a playmaking edge defender. In 2024 he had 79 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 2 INTs (both were pick-sixes), a forced fumble, and 6 pass breakups. Great player. The Vikings would love to get him back.

    • Cashman suffered a hamstring injury Week 1 against the Bears, and was placed on IR. He missed the next four games. In 2024, Cashman had 112 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 11 QB hits, and 8 pass breakups. He is one of the most valuable players in the Vikings’ defense. The Vikings activated his 21-day practice window this week, and he could return to the field against the Eagles.

    • Because the Vikings have so many offensive linemen on their injury report, we may as well just give our O-line overview a little early (as opposed to waiting for it in our “five things to watch.” When fully healthy, the Vikings’ offensive line would look like this:

    LT  LG  RG  RT
Christian Darrisaw  Donovan Jackson  Ryan Kelly  Will Fries  Brian O’Neill

Darrisaw and O’Neill form one of the best offensive tackle tandems in the NFL. Darrisaw missed the first two games of the season while still recovering from from ACL/MCL tears suffered during the 2024 season. He has played the last three games.

O’Neill suffered a sprained MCL against the Steelers Week 4 and did not play Week 5. The Vikings had a bye Week 6, so he had a week off to heal up.

Jackson was the Vikings’ first-round pick in 2025. He played in the first three games of the season, but missed the last two after having surgery on his wrist. The Vikings didn’t place him on injured reserve, an indication that they thought he had a chance to return sooner than the four-game window required to be on IR.

Kelly won’t play. He’s on IR with a concussion. Michael Jurgens filled in for Kelly, but he too got hurt (hamstring) against the Steelers Week 4 and Jake Brandel filled in. Jurgens may or may not play Sunday.

Fries is the only Vikings starting offensive lineman to play in every game so far this season. He is good to go.

In summary, Darrisaw and Fries will play. Kelly won’t. O’Neill, Jackson, and Jurgens are maybes. Got it? Cool.

    Thursday notes

    • Greenard popped up on the Vikings’ injury report with a hamstring injury. The Vikings’ beats don’t seem to have any further info on that at this time.

    Friday notes

    • The Vikings didn’t publish Friday’s practice activity, but they did publish their Sunday game statuses.

    • McCarthy is questionable. Head coach Kevin O’Connell has said they don’t want to put McCarthy back into games until he is fully healthy, so I would probably expect Wentz to start.

    • Van Ginkel is out.

    • Along the offensive line, O’Neill and Jurgens are questionable. Jackson is good to go.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

LB Blake Cashman: As noted above.

C Ryan Kelly: As noted above.

RB Aaron Jones: Jones injured his hamstring Week 2 against the Falcons. In his absence, Jordan Mason has filled in and played reasonably well. Mason has 69 carries for 363 yards (4.7 YPC) and 3 TDs.

  • NLDS: Harrison Bader leaves Phillies’ Game 1 loss with ‘groin tightness,’ but believes he’ll be back

Harrison Bader believes he’ll still be able to play in the NLDS.

The centerfielder had to exit the Phillies’ 5-3 Game 1 loss to the Dodgers in the seventh inning on Saturday night, with what manager Rob Thomson said postgame was “groin tightness.”

Nick Castellanos took up Bader’s No. 8 spot in the batting order, and Brandon Marsh slid over to center field from left for the last two innings.

The Phillies are off Sunday. Bader will have imaging done in the morning, and he and the club will go from there as they approach Game 2 Monday night back at Citizens Bank Park.

He seemed optimistic in the Phillies’ clubhouse.

“Definitely feel like I’ll be able to play,” Bader said. “Just running between first and second base, kind of pulled it at second base, just felt a little weird. I don’t know really what it attributed to.”

He was running, though, on Bryson Stott’s single in the bottom of the fifth, which Thomson confirmed is where the tightness started to set in (via MetroPhilly’s Kyle Fisher).

In the top of the fifth, Bader tracked down a liner hit by L.A.’s Andy Pages to right-center and dove out to make the catch for the out.

Bader stayed in for the sixth, and was only pulled once his turn to bat was back up in the seventh.

He said in the clubhouse that something felt “strange” while standing on second when he was said to have suffered the injury, and felt that he couldn’t fully sprint in center field, which all factored into the decision to sit down the rest of the way.

“I just think random things happen, unfortunately. But in terms of the preparation leading up to the event and whatnnot, I really wu;dn’t change anyhting.

“I think it’s a tough decision to be made,” Bader said. “But, again, I do feel like if something did have to happen, you risk obviously being more injured, and we have a lot of baseball ahead of us. Win or loss tonight, we have a lot of baseball ahead of us.

“So I think it was just the smart decision given how I felt in terms of my symptoms to make that decision. But like I said, there’s imaging tomorrow and we’ll go from there.”

The Phillies started Bader in center, Marsh in left, and Max Kepler in right field for Game 1.

Should Bader not be ready in time for Game 2, Marsh will likely stick in center as the Phillies’ most athletic outfielder, while Castellanos would regain his former everyday spot in right, with either Kepler or Weston Wilson back in left.

That was the Phillies’ outfield look before Bader was acquired from Minnesota at the trade deadline. However, it was a group that was inconsistent and left a lot to be desired offensively.

The Sunday off day will buy the Phillies a bit of time and clarity on Bader’s status once the imaging comes through.

They’ll hope he won’t be down long, if at all.

“If there’s an absolute chance in hell, you better believe I’m gonna be in there,” Bader said of playing again this postseason.

  • Eagles-Broncos Week 5 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles’ injury list / injured reserve list is beginning to pile up, while the Denver Broncos are very healthy after the first four games of the season.

Here’s the Eagles-Broncos injury report, with analysis.

    051020EaglesLogo2020
Player  Injury  Wed  Thurs Fri  Status
TE Dallas Goedert Knee DNP Limited Full  –
RT Lane Johnson  Shoulder  Limited  Full  Full  –
iDL Jalen Carter  Shoulder  Limited  Full  Full  –
LB Nakobe Dean  Knee  Limited  Limited  Full  Out
CB Adoree’ Jackson  Groin  Limited  Full  Full  –
TE Grant Calcaterra  Illness  –  DNP  Full  –

    Wednesday notes:

    • Goedert took a hard hit on Sunday in Tampa against the Bucs, came out of the game for a bit, but then returned. Goedert’s absence hurts both the passing game and run game.

    • Lane Johnson participating at all is a positive after he injured his shoulder against the Bucs and did not return.

    • Nakobe Dean had his 21-day practice window opened in advance of his eventual return from the PUP list.

    • Adoree’ Jackson practiced, but Vic Fangio noted that Kelee Ringo has a chance of starting going forward.

    • Jalen Carter may be dealing with his shoulder injury for a while, but he’ll very likely play.

    Thursday notes

    • Johnson and Carter were both full participants. They should be good to go.

    • Jackson should be good to go as well, but did he already lose his starting job?

    • Goedert practiced, a good sign for his availability on Sunday.

    Friday notes:

    • Dean being out isn’t a surprise, as he has to work his way back into “football shape.”

    • Jihaad Campbell missed practice because of a personal matter.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

EDGE Nolan Smith (IR, triceps): In 2024, Smith got out to a slow start, but the light seemed to come on for him after the Week 5 bye. In the 15 games he played from October on, Smith had 10.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, and he did a lot of the dirty work in the defense like taking on pulling guards and burying them. Smith entered the 2025 as the team’s top edge defender. Through three games he has 10 tackles and 0 sacks. He “tweaked” his triceps injury, and will miss at least four weeks on IR.

LB Nakobe Dean (PUP, knee): Dean is technically still on PUP, despite the team activating his 21-day practice window.

ILB Alex Singleton  Thumb  Full  Full  Full  –
G Quinn Meinerz  Illness  –  DNP  Full  –
TE Lucas Krull  Foot  –  –  DNP  Out

    Wednesday notes:

    • As noted above, the Broncos have had great injury luck so far. They are virtually devoid of concerning injuries to important players.

    Thursday notes:

    • Again, not much to say here. Meinerz didn’t practice with an illness, but that’s probably not going to affect his status for Sunday.

    Friday notes

    • Lucas Krull was added to the injury report on Friday. He won’t play. I’ll be honest — I’ve never heard of Lucas Krull.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

LB Dre Greenlaw: You all remember Greenlaw from his scuffle with Big Dom. Since tearing his Achilles while running onto the field during the 2023-2024 Super Bowl, Greenlaw has only appeared in two games. He is currently missing time with a quad injury.

LB Drew Sanders: Sanders was a Broncos third-round pick in 2023. He played in all 17 games as a rookie, starting four. He tore his Achilles in April of 2024 and missed the first 13 games of the season, but played in the final four. He injured his foot in 2025 training camp and began the season on IR.

iDL Malcolm Roach: Rotational interior D-lineman, played for Sean Payton both in New Orleans and Denver.

  • Eagles-Rams Week 3 injury report, with analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles have no surprises on their injury report heading into their Week 3 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams suffered an injury at cornerback Week 2, and they could also be without their starting LG.

Here’s the Eagles-Rams injury report, with analysis.

    051020EaglesLogo2020
Player  Injury  Wed  Thurs Fri  Status
    RB Will Shipley  Oblique  DNP
    TE Dallas Goedert  Knee  Limited
    QB Tanner McKee Thumb Limited
    iDL Jalen Carter  Shoulder  Limited

    Wednesday notes:

    • Goedert didn’t practice at all heading into the Eagles’ matchup against the Chiefs Week 2. His limited participation on Wednesday is an encouraging sign for his availability Week 3 against the Rams.

    • Shipley, McKee, and Carter have all been on the injury report with their various injuries, though Carter wasn’t on it Week 2. Carter played through some pain in the Eagles’ win over the Chiefs, but never had to exit the game because of his injury.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

LB Nakobe Dean (PUP, knee): Dean tore his patellar tendon in the Eagles’ Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers last season. As our Evan Macy detailed back in January, patellar tendon tears are more serious than ACL or Achilles tears. Dean began training camp on the PUP list and remained there to begin the regular season. He will miss the first four games, at a minimum. Rookie Jihaad Campbell is starting opposite Zack Baun, and has played well to begin the season.

FB Ben VanSumeren (IR, knee): VanSumeren was poised to take on a bigger role in the Eagles’ offense in 2025 as a full-time fullback, but he tore his patellar tendon on the opening kickoff of the season. His season is over.

Player  Injury  Wed  Thurs  Fri  Status

    Wednesday notes:

    • We’ll update when the Rams’ injury report is made available, but starting LG Steve Avila is expected to be on it. He sprained his ankle Week 1 against the Texans. If he can’t play, Justin Dedich will likely start at LG, as he did Week 2, when he struggled against Jeffery Simmons.

Notable players on IR, PUP, suspension, etc.

CB Ahkello Witherspoon: Witherspoon is a starting corner. He broke his clavicle Week 2 against the Titans and landed on IR. The Rams’ top three corners Week 1 were Witherspoon, Emmanuel Forbes (!), and Cobie Durant. Darious Williams did not play in the regular defense Week 1, but played Week 2 after Witherspoon went down. With Witherspoon out, the Rams’ may have the smallest set of corners in the NFL:

    • Emmanuel Forbes (6’0, 180)
    • Cobie Durant (5’11, 182)
    • Darious Williams (5’9, 192)

If A.J. Brown can’t get going against these guys, an already alarming situation will become more worrisome.

  • Learning more about Zack Wheeler’s unusual injury

Zack Wheeler was in the thick of the NL Cy Young race, and was the best Phillies pitcher on a staff full of aces. Then it all suddenly stopped.

He didn’t break a bone, or tear a ligament. He developed a blood clot. The Phillies rightly shut him down, had the clot in his shoulder removed and put him on the shelf for the season. It was then revealed he needed thoracic outlet decompression surgery to alleviate venous thoracic outlet syndrome.

This is a rare surgery, but it’s not unheard of.

Dr. Dinesh Dhanaraj, the Attending Orthopedic Surgeon at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, weighed in on some of the specifics of Wheeler’s injury, to help us understand what might happen to him career-wise if/when he returns next year.

(The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the author and guest authors and do not reflect any official policy or position of any MLB team or a team’s athletic physicians.)

“It’s a serious health issue,” Dhanaraj said. “The fact that he had a blood clot removed is the beginning of this problem, a life-threatening problem. A blood clot can travel all the way to your lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism and be fatal, the good news is he is out of the woods, he had that prevented.”

His health is the most important thing. Wheeler is a family man, and at 35 entering the last few years of his career anyway. It was recently reported that the hurler planned to retire after his monster three-year, $126 million deal wraps up after the 2027 season.

So what is his baseball outlook?

“It’s not like a sports injury… it’s an anatomic variant in people, they have an extra cervical rib, instead of where the normal ribs come off they have an extra rib, it actually presses on the soft tissue,” the doctor said. “It pushes on it and causes compression. They’ll remove the rib to release the pressure.”

There won’t be a ton of rehab when he’s post surgery. It’ll just be healing.

“It’s removing an area of compression so it’s mostly pain,” Dhanaraj said. “It’s not structurally where you need ligament to heal or a bone to heal or tendon, it’s mostly pain threshold, but it’s not like they’d be having him throw fastballs for a couple months.”

There is some precedent with this injury when it comes to top-of-the-line starting pitchers. Here’s how things panned out for a handful of pitchers who had surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome:

    Pitcher Time missed Performance after
Merril Kelly 6 months 130 starts, 3.60 ERA since
Josh Beckett 9 months Pitched one more year, 2.80 ERA
    Threw a no-hitter in 2014
Chris Carpenter 2.5 months Returned briefly to toss 40 innings,
did not pitch again after 2012 postseason
Tyler Thornburg 12 months 62 starts, 5.37 ERA since
Stephen Strasburg 11 months Pitched 4.2 innings, then retired
    (complications)
Matt Harvey  9 months  Pitched 98 games, 6.15 ERA since

The track record is varied. Kelly had a fruitful career. Beckett, Carpenter and Strasburg tried to return with various — and brief — results. Thornburg actually pitched for a few years after his TOS surgery but his ERA and performance were noticeably worse.

Wheeler has been one of the better pitchers in baseball for the last half decade. He recovered and was even stronger after Tommy John surgery 10 years ago. If anyone can do it, it’s Wheeler.

But there isn’t much of a roadmap for him to follow. The flame-throwing pitcher will need to chart his own course, and the Phillies certainly hope it means two more years of dominating in Citizens Bank Park.
