    Kraft Heinz said Wednesday it’s pausing its plans to split into two companies.

    Steve Cahillane, a former Kellogg Co. chief who became CEO of Kraft Heinz on Jan. 1, said he wants to ensure that all of the company’s resources are focused on profitable growth.

    “I have seen that the opportunity is larger than expected and that many of our challenges are fixable and within our control,” Cahillane said in a statement.

    The company’s shares were flat in morning trading Wednesday as Kraft Heinz reported lower quarterly and annual results. Investors are likely concerned that Kraft Heinz believes its businesses aren’t strong enough to stand on their own, said Robert Moskow, an analyst with TD Cowen, in a research note.

    Kraft Heinz announced in September it was splitting into two companies a decade after a merger of the brands created one of the biggest food manufacturers on the planet.

    One of the companies would include stronger-selling brands such as Heinz, Philadelphia cream cheese and Kraft Mac & Cheese. The other would include slower-selling brands like Maxwell House, Oscar Mayer, Kraft Singles and Lunchables.

    At the time, Kraft Heinz said it expected the split to be finalized in the second half of this year. The company hired Cahillane, who presided over a similar breakup at Kellogg Co. in 2023, in December.

    But on Wednesday, Kraft Heinz said it will pivot from the split and invest $600 million in marketing, sales and product development.

    “We are confident in the opportunity ahead and believe this investment will accelerate our return to profitable growth,” Cahillane said.

    Kraft Heinz said Wednesday its net sales fell 3% to $6.35 billion in the October-December period. That was lower than the $6.37 billion Wall Street forecast, according to analysts polled by FactSet. Sales fell 5% in North America but rose internationally.

    Kraft Heinz’s net income fell 69.5% to $651 million in the fourth quarter. Adjusted for one-time items, the company earned 67 cents per share, which beat analysts’ forecast of 61 cents.

    The path to the merger of Kraft and Heinz began in 2013, when billionaire investor Warren Buffett teamed up with Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital to buy H.J. Heinz Co. At the time, the $23 billion deal was the most expensive ever in the food industry.

    As a combined company, Kraft Heinz wanted to capitalize on its massive scale. But shifting tastes complicated those plans, with households seeking out less processed foods and switching to cheaper store brands.

    Kraft Heinz tried to follow those trends. In 2021, the company sold both its Planters nut business and its natural cheese business, vowing to reinvest the money into higher-growth brands like P3 protein snacks. But the company continued to struggle.

    Kraft Heinz’s net revenue has fallen every year since 2020, when it saw a pandemic-related bump in sales. In April, Kraft Heinz lowered its full-year sales and earnings guidance, citing weaker customer spending in the U.S. and the impact of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

    Over the years, Buffett said he had come to realize that the company’s competitive moat around its brands wasn’t as strong as he thought. Two representatives from Buffett’s investment company, Berkshire Hathaway, resigned from the Kraft Heinz board last spring, and Berkshire later took a $3.76 billion write-down on its Kraft-Heinz investment. Buffett said he was disappointed in Kraft Heinz’ plan to split in two.

    Buffett’s successor at Berkshire, Greg Abel, may now be seeking to unload its stake in the company altogether. Late last month, Kraft Heinz warned investors in a regulatory filing that Berkshire Hathaway may be interested in selling its 325 million shares.

    The Sun spilled the beans on Wednesday night. According to their insider, things fizzled out faster than Tom running down the side of a skyscraper. The source noted:

    “Tom and Ana had a good time together but their time as a couple has run its course.”

    Well then! Honestly, that sounds like a VERY polite way of saying — yawn — the thrill is gone.

    The source didn’t stop there, either. They added more tea to the pot and claimed that a platonic friendship was still very much on the table:

    “They are going to remain good friends but they aren’t dating anymore. They just realised they weren’t going to go the distance and that they are better off as mates.”

    And if you’re wondering whether it all ended in flames, the answer is a big, fat nope. Just a gentle, mutual unfollow.

    The source noted:

    “The spark had gone between them but they still love each other’s company and they’ve both been really adult about it.”

    Well, that’s nice and refreshing! Adult about it? In Hollywood?! Color us shocked. Ha!!

    But hold the phone! This story ain’t quite wrapped yet. These two may be over romantically, but professionally, they’re still tied at the hip. The source explained:

    “She’s already been cast in his next film, so they will continue to work together.”

    Yes, darlings! Even post-split, they’re keeping it risky strictly business.

    FYI, the two had been set to co-star in the forthcoming thriller Deeper, but word is that project has been put on pause, as The Sun‘s report noted. There’s also talk of another film with the working title Pressure in the mix. Regardless, don’t be surprised if they’re spotted doing script reads in Soho or sipping green juice on set — awkwardly or otherwise.

    Looking back, let’s not forget that their romance was a whirlwind of glam. From attending David Beckham’s 50th b-day bash together to jamming out at an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium and more, it was giving tabloid dreams. And then it was giving… uh… fade to black.

    Ana, of course, is no stranger to high-profile breakups. Ben Affleck, anyone? Meanwhile, Tom’s got a long resume of exes: Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, and Katie Holmes among them.

    So now we’re left to wonder what’s next for these two stars. Tom’s probably going to throw himself into a dozen more action flicks, jump off more buildings, and flash that thousand-watt smile like nothing ever happened. And we’re sure that Ana will be back to stealing silver screen scenes with poise.

    And somehow, through it all, Hollywood will keep spinning!

    United Adds Flights to Bari, Split, Glasgow & Santiago de Compostela

    United Airlines today announced its Summer 2026 schedule with service to four new cities across Croatia, Italy, Scotland and Spain.

    United will launch nonstop flights from its hub in Newark/New York to Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland and Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The airline is also adding its first service between Washington-Dulles and Reykjavik, Iceland, as a new nonstop year-round daily service from Newark/New York to Seoul, South Korea, and four additional weekly flights, for 18 total weekly flights, between Newark/New York and Tel Aviv, Israel.

    Split, Croatia

    United will launch its new summer routes with the only nonstop service between Split and the United States beginning April 30. 

    United will be the only airline to fly from the U.S. to Split and is currently the only airline offering direct flights to Croatia with its seasonal service from Newark/New York to Dubrovnik. Flights will operate three times a week on a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

    Bari, Italy

    United will be the only U.S airline offering nonstop service between Bari and the United States beginning May 1. The new flight will serve as a gateway to the Puglia region from Newark/New York.

    The new service to Bari will operate four times a week on a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. With one of the largest ports on the Adriatic Sea, travelers can also connect from Bari by boat to Albania, Croatia, Greece and more.

    United will offer up to 15 flights per day to Italy across six destinations next summer, with the only U.S. airline service to Palermo and Bari.

    Glasgow, Scotland

    United will be the only U.S. airline offering nonstop service between the United States and Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city known for its world-class museums, iconic architecture and historic pubs.

    The daily seasonal service from Newark/New York will begin on May 8 and provide an easy nonstop connection on a Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft for U.S. travelers who wish to explore the city, conduct business or reconnect with family and friends. United also serves Edinburgh year-round and is the largest carrier between the United States and Scotland.

    Santiago de Compostela, Spain

    With three times weekly seasonal service from Newark/New York starting May 22, United will be the only carrier to offer nonstop service between the U.S. and Santiago de Compostela – the capital of the Galicia region in Spain. 

    This will be the first regularly scheduled service between the U.S. and Santiago de Compostela, making it more accessible than ever for American travelers to explore or visit loved ones. The flight will operate on a Boeing 737-MAX8 aircraft. With this new flight, United now flies to six destinations in Spain including Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Bilbao, and is the only airline to fly nonstop to Bilbao, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca from the U.S.

    Reykjavik, Iceland

    Beginning May 21, United will offer daily service between Reykjavik and Washington Dulles, building on existing service from Chicago O’Hare and Newark/New York. The daily flight will operate on a Boeing 757-200, making United the only airline to offer lie-flat business class seats between the two capital cities, giving travelers more choices for comfort.

    Seoul, South Korea

    Next summer, United will start offering nonstop flights between Newark/New York and South Korea. With convenient options from both U.S. coasts to Seoul, travelers can experience thousands of cuisines at the vibrant Gwangjang Market, catch K-pop concerts and musical performances, try the most-talked about Korean beauty and wellness treatments, and so much more.

    The daily flights from Newark/New York begin September 4 on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and build on United’s existing twice-daily flights from San Francisco.

    Tel Aviv, Israel

    On March 28, United will add a third flight to Tel Aviv from Newark/New York operating on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The four times weekly service builds on the existing double daily Newark–Tel Aviv, four times weekly Chicago O’Hare-Tel Aviv, and three times weekly Washington Dulles-Tel Aviv service the airline already offers.

    Washington, DC [US], September 5 (ANI): Actor Orlando Bloom opened up about his split from Katy Perry. He spoke on the former couple’s breakup during a conversation with Today’s Craig Melvin while promoting his new film, The Cut, reported People.

    ‘There’s been some personal changes in your life since you were here the last time. How are you doing?’ asked Melvin.

    ‘I’m great, man. I’m so grateful,’ Bloom replied on the morning show, adding of their 5-year-old, Daisy, ‘We have the most beautiful daughter. You know when you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie? I feel grateful for all of it,’ as quoted by People.

    ‘And we’re great. We’re going to be great. Nothing but love,’ he concluded.

    Representative for Perry and Bloom confirmed their split on July 3, after the outlet first learned on June 26 that they had ended their engagement, reported People.

    ‘Katy has every intention of maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with Orlando,’ a source said at the time, adding, ‘He’s the father of their daughter and that will always come first for her,’ according to People.

    ‘They’ve been through a lot together and while they’ve decided to go their separate ways, there’s still a mutual respect between them,’ the insider continued. ‘They’re still very much in touch and co-parenting Daisy together. For the sake of their daughter, they’re committed to keeping things amicable.’

    In his new thriller, The Cut, Bloom plays an ex-boxer who suffered a defeat that ended his career as a champion in the ring. Then, when he ‘trains for redemption,’ a synopsis teases, an ‘obsession takes hold and reality unravels — and he may be spiralling into something far more terrifying.’

    Bloom shared last month that he was ‘excited by the challenge’ of transforming himself for the role. ‘What I hadn’t expected and was surprised by was the mental toll that this kind of intense discipline takes,’ he said. ‘The paranoia and anxiety were very real and disturbing, caused by the lack of sleep — turns out you can’t sleep when you’re hungry!, ‘ reported People.

    He noted that the length to which he went to train for The Cut is ‘definitely not something to try at home.’ As he explained, ‘I was supervised weekly and my blood work monitored by an expert nutritionist, Philip Goglia, who helped me lose 30 pounds in approximately three months.’

    At least he’s consistent? Joaquin Phoenix is once again making headlines for allegedly leaving a movie on short notice. In a recent episode of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, James McAvoy recounted the timeline of him replacing Phoenix as the lead in M. Night Shyamalan’s movie Split. We’ve known for a while that Phoenix left the project abruptly; The Guardian reported in 2017 that Phoenix had dropped out “at the 11th hour.” But what does that really mean? “I think he ditched it two weeks before they started shooting,” McAvoy told Horowitz. “It was really last minute. I had two weeks.” (Hey, it could’ve been worse — Phoenix reportedly quit a Todd Haynes gay romance movie just five days before filming was scheduled to start this year.)

    Split follows a man with dissociative identity disorder. Given the amount of time McAvoy had to prepare, he was understandably nervous for the first table read. “I’m sitting there like, God, I’ve got to do all these 15 characters and be judged by everybody in the room, including Universal studio executives, including Jason Blum and all that … and I haven’t even found some of the characters,” he recalled. “It just came on really, really quick.” Still, McAvoy doesn’t seem too disappointed with the way things went down. Noting that it can keep an actor from overthinking, he suggested, “Sometimes coming in last minute is the best way.” Hmm … [in our best PR voice] maybe Phoenix was just trying to help!
