Here’s What Taylor Swift Changed For The European Leg Of The Eras Tour

    [ad_1]

If you’re a diehard Swiftie like us, your immediate reaction to learning the title of ‘Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?’ was probably “me, Taylor.” Which is totally understandable! We’ve been following along with the Eras Tour for over a year and she still finds new ways to surprise us. And the European leg is like a new show entirely, now that we have The Tortured Poets Department in our lives.

Let’s take a look at what changed throughout the show and its setlist, one era at a time! These changes are accurate as of the first night in Paris on May 9th, 2024.

    Pre-Show Playlist

First off, the changes started before Taylor even took the stage! Taylor added three new songs to the playlist that echoes throughout the venue before she goes on.

    The Intro

The nostalgic Eras Tour intro includes Taylor saying the name of each era, so naturally, she had to add in The Tortured Poets Department! Listen closely and you’ll hear her say the album name between the 1989 quote and Red album title.

    Lover

At the first show in Paris, Taylor unveiled a new orange and magenta bodysuit with matching boots! Not much changed throughout this set, but we did lose ‘The Archer.’ We thank her for her service! The closing song is now ‘Lover’ with an extended outro.

    Fearless

Thankfully, since the Fearless set is only three songs, Taylor didn’t rearrange anything! Again at the first Paris show, she revealed a new black, silver, and gold fringe dress that we think pays homage to the iconic fringe dress she wore on the 2009 Fearless Tour. We’re not crying, there’s just something sparkly in our eye.

    Red

The first major change of the show is that the Red set is now the third era in line, instead of evermore! The setlist remained the same aside from the switch in its placement. We also got a new ‘22’ shirt saying “this isn’t Taylor’s Version,” which we’ll need for when we’re out in public and mumble under our breaths about how a store is playing the wrong version of her music.

    Speak Now

Taylor really brought us back to the Speak Now World Tour with the refreshed version of the Speak Now set! Unfortunately, we’re back to it being only one song, but we can’t complain too much because we adore ‘Enchanted.’ Before Taylor takes the stage, the screens show updated visuals with stunning flowers, and the dancers come out to keep the crowd entertained.

    reputation

At the opening night of the European leg in Paris, Taylor had the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever and give every era a new costume except reputation. And she did it! Nothing changed during this set – not even the red and black snake bodysuit – so all you fellow rep stans out there are safe.

    folklore & evermore

The sets with the most change are folklore and evermore, which have been combined! But we did lose the ‘seven’ spoken interlude as a result. As Taylor explained it in Paris, she “reunited the sisters, combined them into one chapter.” Even the new Paris costume combined the eras, giving us the folklore style with a golden yellow color like the evermore dress. We think it makes perfect sense and we love getting to hear them together. Some sacrifices, though: ‘tis the damn season,’ ‘tolerate it,’ ‘invisible string’-slash-’the 1,’ and ‘the last great american dynasty.’

Check out the setlist for this section below:

    • ‘cardigan’ (sitting on the cabin where she sang ‘invisible string’ and ‘the 1’)
    • ‘betty’
    • ‘champagne problems’
    • ‘august’ x ‘illicit affairs’
    • ‘my tears ricochet’
    • ‘marjorie’
    • ‘willow’

After ‘willow,’ Taylor disappears into the stage to get ready for the next era.

    1989

The visuals between everlore/folkmore and 1989 have the same concept as the folklore1989 transition from the first leg, but they go from a mountain scene to a bright city rather than centering around the folklore cabin. No setlist changes here, though we got a new costume combination! Taylor wore a glittery pink top with a blue skirt in Paris, complete with one pink boot and one blue boot. It honestly reminds us of the mix-and-match jackets and skirts she wore on the original 1989 Tour, and we’re so excited to see what combos she wears in the future.

For the first time ever, Taylor leaves the stage after the 1989 set instead of staying on for surprise songs!

    The Tortured Poets Department

Welcome to the Eras Tour setlist, TTPD! We had our fingers crossed for you and you so delivered. The set starts with a screen visual that draws from the ‘Fortnight’ music video, complete with a road, cages, and even papers falling from the sky. There’s also a little snippet where she sings the “oh, oh, oh” from the chorus of ‘My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys.’

Taylor described the album as “Female Rage: The Musical” in Paris, so it’s no surprise that this section is really theatrical. There’s even a skit before ‘I Can Do It With A Broken Heart’ where she collapses on the floor, then has to get all dressed up in a new outfit to put on a show. And keep an eye on the visuals during ‘ICDIWABH,’ because there are nods to songs like ‘Peter.’

    • ‘But Daddy I Love Him’
    • ‘So High School’
    • ‘Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?’ (with a moving platform!)
    • ‘Down Bad’
    • ‘Fortnight’
    • ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’
    • ‘I Can Do It With A Broken Heart’

    Surprise Songs

Surprise Song O’Clock got a little facelift in Paris with a new, all-pink dress, but it’s the same instruments and chaos as always! Paris Night 1 got ‘Paris’ on guitar, fittingly, and ‘loml’ on piano. Be sure to stay tuned and keep up with what pairings she gives us!

    Midnights

We’re so excited that Midnights can still be the closing set of the Eras Tour! The setlist stayed the same, though Paris got a new blue bodysuit with cutouts. We couldn’t think of a better ending for the show, especially with this ‘Karma’ lyric:

“Ask me what I’ve learned from all those years
Ask me what I’ve earned from all those tears
Ask me why so many fade but I’m still here…”

What do you think of the new Eras Tour setlist? Did she cut any of your fave songs? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!

Taylor Swift’s latest “Taylor’s Version” rerecording is another hit.

Billboard is reporting that her latest, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), made its debut at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top 200 album chart.

The new version features rerecorded versions of all 14 songs from the original 2010 release, in addition to deluxe tracks “Ours” and “Superman”, and six previously unreleased “From the Vault” songs, one of which features Fall Out Boy, and another featuring  Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

Swift’s latest chart triumph is her 12th No. 1 album, which places her in rarified air; according to Billboard, she has now officially surpassed Barbra Streisand as the female artist with the most No. 1 albums ever.

Meanwhile, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) isn’t her only album on the charts right now; at the moment, Midnights, Lover and Folklore are also holding positions in the top 10.

Selena Gomez Shares Video Of Sister, Gracie, Saying She Dyed Her Hair Purple For ‘Speak Now’

    By Melissa Romualdi.

Selena Gomez’s little sister Gracie is in her Speak Now era.

It appears the originally-released 2010 album is the 10-year-old’s favourite from Taylor Swift as she showed her big sister’s bestie some love by dying her hair purple in honour of the recently-released re-reordered version of the record. The album cover is famous for its purple theme.

Gomez was so impressed by Gracie’s dedication to Swift that she captured the moment on her TikTok Story, asking her younger sis why she dyed her hair that colour.

In the clip, the young Swiftie is seen sitting on the couch with her purple-dyed locks slicked back into a ponytail as she simply responded: “For Speak Now.”

Gomez, 30, followed up by asking Gracie if she’ll ever dye her hair for her sister’s album.

Gracie has been a longtime super-fan of Swift. In April, the youngster attended the Dallas stop on Swift’s “Eras Tour” with her big sis. She donned a purple Speak Now dress while Gomez rocked a Folklore cardigan.

Meanwhile, Gomez has been teasing new music of her own.

Last month, she shared photos of herself in the studio, promising Selenators that “it’s coming.”

Taylor Swift fans had reason to rejoice Friday as the international superstar dropped her highly anticipated album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) — complete with six unreleased songs.

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is the third of six albums Swift will be re-recording after a dispute with music mogul Scooter Braun and her ex-record label. The feud arose in 2019 after it was revealed Swift, 33, did not own the master recordings to her older albums.

The Taylor’s Version albums already hold special status for dedicated Swifties all over the globe, and Speak Now is of extra importance because the 2010 album was the first where Swift is the only writer credited.

Physical copies of the new album came with a lengthy letter from Swift discussing where she was in her life when she wrote Speak Now, between 18 and 20 years old.

While creating the album, Swift wrote that she was “tormented by doubt that swirled loudly around my ascent and my merits as an artist.”

That insecure artist feels far away from the superstar expected to gross a whopping US$1.4 billion during the 102-show run of her current Eras Tour.

In a social media post celebrating the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Swift said the album belongs to her and her dedicated fans.

“I wrote alone about the whims, fantasies, heartaches, dramas and tragedies I lived out as a young woman between 18 and 20,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post Friday. “I remember making tracklist after tracklist, obsessing over the right way to tell the story. I had to be ruthless with my choices, and I left behind some songs I am still unfailingly proud of now. Therefore, you have 6 From The Vault tracks!”

These six new tracks — Electric Touch (featuring Fall Out Boy), When Emma Falls in Love, I Can See You, Castles Crumbling (featuring Hayley Williams), Foolish One and Timeless — are slotted amid the album’s original 16 songs.

Swift continued, writing she was filled with appreciation “for life, for you, for the fact that I get to reclaim my work.”

The singer’s loyal fanbase has already stormed social media to praise Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

Fans have especially had fun with the Taylor’s Version of the song Dear John, a track widely rumoured to be about a breakup between Swift and singer John Mayer. At the time of their alleged short-term relationship, Swift would have been 19 while Mayer was 32.

In June, before performing Dear John live in concert, Swift appeared to tell fans not to bully Mayer ahead of the Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) release.

“I’m 33 years old. I don’t care about anything that happened to me when I was 19,” Swift said. “I’m not putting this album out so that you can go and should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 billion years ago.”

Naturally, many of Swift’s fans have bullied Mayer anyway.

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is already number one on iTunes in more than 125 countries. In just eight hours, the album reportedly broke the record for reaching number one in the most countries in iTunes history.

Hopefully the undeniable popularity of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) may even inspire the singer to schedule a Canadian Eras Tour date for her eager fans. Even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is apparently a Swiftie — he tweeted at the singer on Wednesday asking Swift to come to Canada.

“It’s me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don’t make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon,” Trudeau wrote.

  • Your Weekend Playlist: New Music Releases

Your Weekend Playlist: New Music Releases

    [ad_1]

It’s been two long, arduous weeks since I last graced everyone with a playlist to listen to…and I’m left wondering if you were feeling distraught as a result? Much like you, I had to take some time on the beach for a little R&R. It would be unlike me if I didn’t flee down the shore for Independence Day!

But the good news is that I’m back, and thank goodness I wasn’t here last week to rave about Olivia Rodrigo’s ultimate Song Of The Summer, “Vampire.” I mean what a track, am I right? See, it’s already a new week full of new music and I can’t stop thinking about the perfect all-around song from Miss Rodrigo. Pathetic.

Anyways, enough about the past. That news was soooo last week, and I’m here with a fresh batch of music that is sure to get you ready for another weekend of fun. Whether you’re just relaxing and running errands or partying with your friends, get ready for a weekend playlist filled with brand new music from the week of July 5, 2023.

So get ready to turn the volume up to max level and let’s listen to this week’s new music together. We are soooo back.

Taylor Swift – Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)

My childhood self is absolutely screaming as I announce that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is out. Taylor Swift is so close to completing her recreations of her old albums, and Speak Now was always one of my favorites. With classics like Better Than Revenge (with a more PC twist), Enchanted, and The Story Of Us, you won’t want to miss a more mature Taylor singing classic breakup songs.

She never seems to stop working, with The Eras Tour happening right now and moving overseas…but don’t think she probably isn’t re-recording 1989 as we speak. It’s an entirely self-written album, just like it was when she first released it…except with features from rock gods like Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams.

    Peter McPoland – “Ceiling Fan/Piggy”

We are getting closer to Peter McPoland’s debut album, Piggy, which means new singles. This new one, “Ceiling Fan/Piggy” is what McPoland admits is “the darkest song on the album.” The song is McPoland’s way of dealing with his emotions during his parents’ divorce, where he likens himself to Lord Of The Flies character, Piggy. It’s dark, it’s intense, and it’s extremely vulnerable.

Accompanying the new single is a video directed by Keats, which perfectly pairs with the bassy drumbeat and the angsty lyrics. McPoland is gearing up to be a fan favorite already, and with the edgy “Ceiling Fan,” you get an idea of his range. You’re going to want to remember McPoland’s name after this track.

    Elyanna – “Mama Eh”

Rising Palestinian-Chilean singer has all the classic makings of a popstar: the huge vocal range, the upbeat, catchy pop tunes that make you want to dance and sing along, and a buzz of fans catapulting her into the spotlight. She’s making history by trailblazing the path for Arabic music in the United States, she performed as the first Coachella act fully in Arabic.

She’s one of Rolling Stone’s Best New Rising Artists for a reason, and “Mama Eh” will make you want to get up and dance. It’s filled with a symphony of Middle Eastern instruments and a dreamy chorus that proves who Elyanna is as an artist. She’s the one to watch as she breaks into the U.S.

Dillon Francis x Good Times Ahead – “LA On Acid”

He can do it all: sing, write songs, produce, and DJ. Dillon Francis can easily create a hit that will be played at parties across the country for years to come. This time, he’s paired up with electronic group Good Times Ahead, to create a fun, carefree single from his upcoming mixtape, This Mixtape Is FireTOO. It’s the followup to the similarly titled mixtape from 2015 that has features from artists like EVAN GIIA, Illenium, and INJI.

“LA On Acid” is the perfect addition to a weekend playlist because you truly have no worries when listening to it. There’s all good vibes from Dillon and Good Times Ahead, which is exactly what you want from a song in the summer.

  • Are We Ready For More Taylor Swift?

Are We Ready For More Taylor Swift?

    [ad_1]

It appears that Beyonce, RIhanna, and Taylor Swift collectively agreed to descend from the music heavens to grace our mortal ears with new albums. What a time for female musicians to swoop in and save the music industry as we know it.

On October 21st, Taylor Swift’s tenth album, Midnights, was released and it’s guaranteed to contain a dozen fall anthems. Ever since she announced the new album at MTV’s Video Music Awards, the public has been drooling over Taylor’s every move…and they should.

TSwift is known for her Easter Eggs, meaning no post of hers is unintentional. Little clues and hints about her album and song lyrics are often teased through Swift’s cryptic messages. Even the subtle way she holds a phone can be interpreted differently by many fans.

We know Taylor has been constantly re-recording her old tracks, the most recent being her groundbreaking Red album…but fans still want Taylor to give us new songs to obsess over. She rarely leaves us hanging, constantly feeding us with hit after hit.

    Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn

    Blitz Pictures/Shutterstock

There’s been many versions of Taylor since her country-pop self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift. We’ve gotten the heartbroken, lovesick teenage Taylor with albums like Speak Now and Fearless. The vengeful Taylor in Reputation. And more recently, the soft fall Tay with albums like folklore and evermore.

It’s not just the Midnights album that has sent fans into absolute pandemonium…it’s the impending promise of a stadium tour that is confirmed in the UK, meaning a US announcement can’t be far behind.

Teaming up with Spotify, Swift has been slowly releasing quips of lyrics from Swift’s new album. In a statement from Spotify, they shared:

“Listeners around the world have spent many a midnight with Taylor Swift. Through life’s triumphs, celebrations, and hardships, Taylor’s music and lyrics have always been a source of comfort when the clock strikes 12 and beyond. This is why Spotify has teamed up with Taylor to exclusively reveal lyrics from her new album Midnights around the world leading into the album’s release.”

More recently, Spotify took to Times Square to release new lyrics for Swift’s album. The lyrics? “I should not be left up to my own devices…” And now, in the state I’m in, neither should I!

Tickets for the US leg of Taylor’s Midnights tour are expected to go on sale around November, and I’m sure everyone will be fighting for the chance to see her live. More than likely, the best way to increase your chances is by purchasing an album off her website and receiving a presale code. This is the format she is using for her UK tour, so it would only make sense that the US is the same.

It’s about to be an expensive 2023…Rihanna, Beyonce, and Taylor all are anticipating stadium tours and I’m sure they aren’t the last. The likes of Billie Eilish were seen in the recording studio recently, so my pockets are already hurting.

With Midnights out Friday, we are ready for whatever Joe Alwyn-loving Taylor Swift has cooked up for us all. She just shared her release schedule and the credits list, which includes a very “chaotic” surprise. And don’t even get me started on the Karma theory …

I don’t know how the genius that is Taylor Swift can continuously shock the world and come up with new, creative ways to inspire us…but she does time and time again. A new era is upon us.
