    The divorce between Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner continues to get messier and more complicated by the day, and now Turner is suing her soon-to-be ex-husband and requesting that their two children be returned to England to live with her.

    According to legal documents, obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Turner has petitioned for the “immediate return” of their one- and three-year-old daughters. The documents state the couple made England their permanent home earlier this year.

    The documents also reveal that the custody arrangement that’s been in the works as part of the divorce proceedings has become a point of contention.

    “On or about September 17, 2023, the parties met to discuss their separation,” the docs state, according to ET. “(Turner) reiterated the parties’ agreed plan for the children to return home to England that week. (Jonas) has possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the passports to (Turner) and refuses to send the children home to England with (Turner).”

    The documents also allege that Turner found out about the divorce not from Jonas or his legal team – but from the media.

    “The breakdown of the parties’ marriage happened very suddenly,” the documents state. “The parties had an argument on Aug. 15, 2023. On or about Sept. 1, 2023, (Jonas) filed a divorce case against (Turner) in Florida. On or about Sept. 5, 2023, (Turner) found out through the media that (Jonas) had filed for divorce.”

    Jonas hit back at those claims Thursday just hours after news broke of Turner’s lawsuit.

    “After multiple conversations with Sophie, Joe initiated divorce proceedings in Florida, as Florida is the appropriate jurisdiction for the case,” his rep said in a statement, which was obtained by ET Canada.

    “Sophie was aware that Joe was going to file for divorce. The Florida Court has already entered an order that restricts both parents from relocating the children. Sophie was served with this order on September 6, 2023, more than two weeks ago.”

    The statement continued: “Joe and Sophie had a cordial meeting this past Sunday in New York, when Sophie came to New York to be with the kids. They have been with her since that meeting. Joe’s impression of the meeting was that they had reached an understanding that they would work together towards an amicable co-parenting setup.

    “Less than 24 hours later, Sophie advised that she wanted to take the children permanently to the U.K. Thereafter, she demanded via this filing that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could take them out of the country immediately. If he complies, Joe will be in violation of the Florida Court order.”

    The statement claims that Jonas wants “shared parenting” so that their kids are raised by both parents, and is “okay with the kids being raised in both the U.S. and U.K.”

    The statement also asks that Turner “reconsider her harsh legal position and move forward in a more constructive and private manner.”

    The celebrity couple, who were married for four years, announced they were getting divorced on Sept. 6. At the time, through a statement posted on their individual Instagram accounts, they called their split “amicable” and a “united decision.”

    The past couple of weeks have proven anything but peaceful. When a slew of negative stories about Turner came out in the press in the days surrounding the divorce announcement, many pointed fingers at Jonas, accusing him of planting stories about Turner being a bad mom and partying too much.

    Jonas has adamantly denied the claims, saying in Thursday’s statement that he “has already disavowed any and all statements purportedly made on his behalf that were disparaging of Sophie. They were made without his approval and are not consistent with his views.”

    Turner is best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones. The actor has also played Margaret Ratliff in the drama The Staircase and Jean Grey in the X-Men film franchise.

    Jonas and his two brothers, Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas, make up the popular trio the Jonas Brothers. Together, they have starred in numerous Disney TV shows and released several hit songs, including Burnin’ Up, Sucker and Year 3000. The band released its sixth studio album in May and is currently touring the U.S.

    Sophie Turner is suing Joe Jonas for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained” amid the couple’s separation and impending divorce. 

    According to documents filed in a Manhattan court Thursday and obtained by Page Six, Turner requests the couple’s two daughters, 3-year-old Willa and the 1-year-old identified in their divorce filings as D., be taken immediately to Turner’s native England. The Game of Thrones actor also stated that she and Jonas had planned to make England their “forever home” and alleges that Jonas has been withholding the children’s passports.

    “The Father has possession of the children’s passports,” the documents claim. “He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”

    In a statement to Vanity Fair, Jonas’s representatives called the situation “an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending” and refuted some of Turner’s claims. 

    In her lawsuit, Turner claimed that over Christmas 2022, she and Jonas had made the decision to move to England permanently, and that “the parties were both excited for the family’s move.” According to her filing, the big move took place on April 10, 2023.

    While the joint statement Turner and Jonas released earlier this month called their divorce a “united decision,” the new filing reveals the collapse of the couple’s marriage “happened very suddenly” after an argument on August 15, 2023 (which is also Jonas’s birthday). It also claims that though Jonas filed for divorce on or about September 1, citing “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” Turner found out on September 5 “through the media.”

    Jonas’s initial court filing to dissolve the marriage, per People, stated that the children have been “residing with their father in Miami and other locations throughout the United States” over the past several months and that Jonas would seek joint custody of the children, and Turner’s new filing states that the “wrongful retention” of the children began Wednesday, September 20. In the paperwork, Turner claims that she agreed “with hesitation” to allow the children to travel with Jonas as he toured with the Jonas Brothers on their current tour, titled THE TOUR, while she filmed in England.

    Sophie Turner has sued her estranged husband, Joe Jonas, for the return of their two young children to England, according to legal documents obtained by Page Six.

    The petition comes weeks after Jonas, who tied the knot with Turner in 2019, filed for divorce from the “Game of Thrones” star.

    Turner, 27, filed the lawsuit in a Manhattan court Thursday, alleging that Jonas has wrongfully retained the couple’s two young daughters in New York City since Sept. 20.

    The filing seeks to secure “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained,” per the documents obtained by Page Six.

    Turner also claims that she and Jonas agreed over Christmas 2022 that England would be their kids’ “forever home,” and they would start scouting out schools for their older daughter, Willa.

    “The parties were both excited for the family’s move to England,” the legal documents reportedly say.

    But things took a turn after Turner accused Jonas, 34, in the documents of withholding the children’s passports.

    “The Father has possession of the children’s passports,” the documents claim. “He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”

    Per the filing, Jonas’ attorney confirmed on Sept. 19 that he won’t return the passports and refuses to agree to let their daughters move internationally to live in England, seemingly kicking off Turner’s lawsuit.

    Jonas and Turner welcomed their daughter Willa in 2020. The actor gave birth to their second daughter, whose name has not been made public, last year.

    The famous pair had reportedly been experiencing “serious problems” for months prior to their split. The collapse of their marriage “happened very suddenly” after an argument on Aug. 15 of this year, according to Page Six.

    The couple’s divorce filing says “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken,” according to a petition obtained by Today.com. Turner and Jonas reportedly had a prenuptial agreement in place.

    An insider told OK! magazine that the singer was “incredibly checked out and detached” for some time before he put an end to their marriage.

    “Joe seemed very sensitive, almost touchy, when asked anything about his wife or family-related,” the source said. “So I’m guessing things were on the rocks with them before that.”

    Representatives for Turner and Jonas didn’t immediately respond to HuffPost’s requests for comment.

    Turner and Jonas addressed their split earlier this month in a joint statement on Instagram.

    “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the pair wrote on Sept. 6. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”

He built a following thanks to his imaginative retelling of historical events and “p*ssy PSAs” containing hilariously candid updates. “The way I’m shaking because Sophie Turner is fully wearing ‘puss casino’ in that,” Shane said in a Sept. 20 TikTok, pointing to Turner’s crewneck. The “puss casino” graphic (although predictably sold out) features a winning slot machine illustration with the words “Jackpuss!” written in red across the top and “good p*ssies go to heaven, bad p*ssies go to Vegas” along the back.

    Without reading too much into Turner’s merch, she and Jonas did have a Las Vegas wedding in 2019, and the Jonas Brothers formerly collaborated on a handful of videos with Shane back in April. At the very least, Turner’s unpretentious cover-up points to her apparent closeness with Swift, who also dated Jonas circa 2008.     Joe Jonas told the crowd at Saturday’s Jonas Brothers concert to not believe what they hear unless he says it, seemingly nodding to recent reports surrounding his divorce to actor Sophie Turner.

    Since Jonas filed for divorce from Turner last week, several reports have been making the rounds, including claims that Turner’s partying ways led to the divorce or something Turner did or said on a Ring camera led to Jonas ending the marriage. Neither Jonas nor Turner have directly addressed specific reports, but in their joint statement announcing the divorce, they said it was a “united decision.”

    Since the divorce announcement, statements Jonas and Turner had made in the past have been reevaluated. In May of 2022, Turner told Elle UK that she missed the United Kingdom and wanted to go back for her mental health.

    “I miss England so much,” Turner said in the interview. “The people, the attitude, everything. I’m slowly dragging my husband back. I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family.”

    Jonas was also called out for asking out model Gigi Hadid when he was 19 or 20 and she was 13 or 14.

    “I was so nervous; I literally didn’t even know what it meant to hang out with a boy,” Hadid said, according to a 2015 Teen Vogue article. “And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn’t want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, ‘No, maybe next time.’”

    Emily Ratajkowski knows a thing or two about divorce ― and it’s “chic,” actually.

    The “My Body” author posted a video on TikTok on Wednesday that was seemingly aimed at Sophie Turner, 27, who earlier that day confirmed she was splitting from husband Joe Jonas, 34.

    “So, it seems that a lot of young ladies are getting divorced before they turn 30,” Ratajkowski said in her video, which she aptly captioned: “Personally I find it chic to be divorced by the age of 30.”

    “As someone who got married at 26, has been separated for a little over a year [at] 32, I have to tell you, I don’t think there’s anything better,” the model said of her own split from ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, adding that “being in your 20s is the trenches.”

    “So for all of those people who are feeling stressed about that ― about being divorced ― it’s good,” she said, signing off with a double “Congratulations.”

    One commenter wrote that they “skipped the marriage part and just stayed single.”

    “Good for you,” Ratajkowski replied. “Wish I was that wise! I personally wouldn’t have understood marriage and would/ve worried about what I was missing in my 30s.”

    Like Turner and Jonas, Ratajkowski and Bear-McClard, a movie producer, separated after four years of marriage. The former couple share one son, named Sylvester Apollo Bear.

    Multiple women have accused Bear-McClard of sexual misconduct toward them when they were just teenagers.

    Ratajkowski previously said that she “didn’t have the courage to leave” her ex-husband for a long time, and was “really, really unhappy.”

    “I think so much of what I learned coming out of that relationship is to trust your instincts and gaslighting is a real thing,” she said during an appearance on the “Going Mental With Eileen Kelly” podcast back in March. “I didn’t understand that it was actually going to be so nice to come back to myself.”

    While most Americans were enjoying their Labor Day Weekend, news of another major Hollywood divorce trickled in.

    On Sunday, TMZ published a report that performer Joe Jonas and Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner were headed for divorce after four years of marriage. People all but confirmed the rumor with the claim that Jonas had retained a divorce lawyer. On Monday, Jonas posted an uncaptioned photo on Instagram in which his wedding ring was front and center; fans flagged their relief in the comments, but the relief was short lived. Today.com reported on Tuesday that Jonas filed for dissolution of marriage on September 5 in Miami Dade County, claiming “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” Vanity Fair has reached out to both Jonas and Turner for comment. 

    The couple was married in 2019—first in Las Vegas and then again in an elaborate wedding in the French countryside—and they share two children. Their daughter Willa is three and their second daughter, whose name they haven’t announced publicly, is 14 months. In August, TMZ also reported that the pair sold their Miami home for $15 million a year after they closed on it.

    Per Today.com, the filing states that they have a prenuptial agreement, and the children have been with Jonas in Miami and in other locations (he’s currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers), but that “it is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.”

    Jonas and Turner attended several events together this year, including the Vanity Fair Oscar party in March, and the ceremony for the Jonas Brothers’s star unveiling on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

    “Sophie, what up homie,” Jonas said in his remarks at the ceremony. “You’re my partner in crime. You keep me motivated and inspired every day. I strive to be as cool as you. You got any plans after this?”

    Jonas is currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers, and Turner appeared by his side at least during the band’s appearance in New York. She posted a photo of them holding hands from the Yankees stadium show on August 14, three weeks prior to the divorce filing.

    Over the Labor Day weekend, Jonas posted a snapshot on Instagram alongside his fellow bandmates and brothers, Kevin and Nick Jonas, as the trio sat by a fire pit at sunset.

    Though Turner was notably missing from the photo, eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice that his wedding ring was on his left hand.

    “Happy Labor Day weekend everyone,” the former Disney star captioned his post on Sunday. “This tour has be incredible so far! Having a little family time in the Texas sunset tonight before a big Austin show tomorrow.”

    TMZ, which first broke the news of the pair’s impending divorce, reported that the two have been experiencing “serious problems” over the past six months.

    A source also told People that Jonas has hired a divorce lawyer.

    The “Game of Thrones” star has notably not attended any of the Jonas Brothers’ shows since Aug. 12, PageSix reported.

    Representatives of Jonas and Turner did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

    Amid the split, Jonas has been reportedly caring for their two daughters “pretty much all of the time” over the past three months as he tours with his siblings around the U.S., according to TMZ.

    Another insider told PageSix that “Joe is exploring the best options for his future.”

    Neither Jonas nor Turner had publicly addressed the separation rumors as of Monday.

    Last month, the couple appeared to be in good graces with each other when the “Do Revenge” actor posted an adorable birthday message for the musician on her Instagram story.

    “Happy birthday handsome,” Turner wrote alongside a cozy photo of the duo wearing matching green-and-white pajamas.

    It looks like Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner may be parting ways after four years of marriage. On Sept. 3, People reported, per a source, that Jonas has retained a divorce lawyer. TMZ was the first to break the news. Reps for Jonas did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment. Meanwhile, Turner’s rep declined to comment.

    Jonas, 34, and Turner, 27, started dating in late 2016 and announced their engagement in October 2017. They tied the knot Las Vegas-style with a star-studded wedding — which Diplo famously live-streamed on his Instagram — on May 1, 2019, just hours after they attended the Billboard Music Awards. A month later, the pair got married again in France with their closest family and friends in attendance. Jonas and Turner share two children: daughter Willa, 3, and another baby girl, 1, whose name has not been shared yet.

    This year, Turner supported Jonas at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, where he received a star with his brothers, Nick and Kevin. The couple also attended Vanity Fair’s 2023 Oscars afterparty in March. Most recently, Turner celebrated Jonas’s 34th birthday by posting a selfie of them wearing matching pajamas on Instagram.     One is the loneliest number, as we all know, but Danielle Jonas has some strong feelings about three, it seems. During a recent podcast interview, Danielle, wife of eldest Jonas Brother Kevin, revealed that she sometimes feels like the odd one out when compared to her sisters-in-law.

    In an episode of the LadyGang podcast released June 27, Danielle and Kevin gave a frank interview in which Danielle revealed that she can feel like the last crayon in the box in comparison to Nick Jonas’s wife Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Joe Jonas’s wife Sophie Turner. Chopra-Jonas and Turner are both big-name actors, while Danielle’s top IMDb credit is for the reality show Married to Jonas. She’s quite literally most famous for being married to a Jonas Brother. And, yeah, she feels weird about it!

    “I’m also finding like my place in it,” she said, “because the two boys [Nick and Joe] married somebody who, they’re actresses, they’re out there, everyone knows them, and I feel like I’m Danielle, you know? It’s hard.”

    She has an ally in Kevin, who also feels the sting of comparison.

    “I feel that way, too,” he said. “Like you said, Nick and Joe, right, like solo careers, movies, all the stuff. It’s like, everyone has to find their place, no matter the situation.”

    He said that the key for both himself and Danielle is “communicating, talking through it.”

    “We always get compared to the people around you most,” Kevin said, pointing out that the podcast had started with a discussion amongst the hosts over which brother they favored. (Kevin got points for “fingering the guitar,” it’s worth noting.)

    While Danielle has her hands full with her jewelry company, not to mention her marriage and their two children, she admitted to struggling with her public image.

    “I’m out there celebrity-wise because I married you,” she said. “And that’s where like, it’s like, I want to have something else to my name, too, so that it feels—I don’t know—more than, or like the other girls, because then when I’m with the other girls, I feel just less-than sometimes. It’s weird.”

    One claim to fame that is entirely hers? Kevin’s glow-up.

    “She worked on me every single minute of every single day,” Kevin said of his wife, pointing out that she “pushes me to work out,” and that she was a strong voice in getting him to stop straightening his hair and embrace his natural curls.

    And, perhaps most importantly? “No more scarves,” she said.
