  • Sydney Sweeney Wore the Best Sneakers for Airport Security

Sydney Sweeney Wore the Best Sneakers for Airport Security

Usually, when you think of Venice Film Festival fashion, casual airport looks aren’t the ones that stand out. Rather, the outfits that typically end up being the most memorable are the off-the-runway ensembles that celebrities wear while riding up to the red carpet on chic mahogany boats, outfits from labels like Prada, Chanel, Dior, and more. Yet those same celebs need to arrive and depart Venice somehow—and in something—making their travel looks just as worthy a topic to discuss this time of year.

While many A-listers prefer to risk it at the airport in clothes and footwear destined to make TSA squirm (I’m looking at you, Amal Clooney), Sydney Sweeney isn’t one of them. Following a glamorous week in Venice that involved Giorgio Armani’s One Night Only runway show and Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales premiere, the Euphoria actress waved goodbye to the Italian city in a black sweatsuit and white Miu Miu sneakers with no inconvenient laces in sight. Instead, Sweeney’s choice of airport footwear only closed with Velcro straps, a design technique that, according to airport security, is elite for getting through the line without a single problem or delay in sight.

  • These Sneakers and Flats Are the Key to Every Cool Fall Outfit

These Sneakers and Flats Are the Key to Every Cool Fall Outfit

Is it just us, or are high heels simply getting less play in our everyday outfits these days? If we’re putting our arches through it, we’ll usually go kitten heels or bust. In place of high heels, walkable flat shoes have become the cornerstone of our wardrobes. While there are loads of stylish options on the market, we love the idea of adding our Who What Wear point of view to the conversation. You may remember when we debuted our Sperry collaboration with a pair of all-weather boots last October. The chic rain/snow/sun stompers sold out quickly on Sperry’s site, and now, we’re back for a little more collaboration magic. But this time, we’re debuting two special styles: suede sneakers and leather mules. Let’s dive into the sneakers first with a peek at the design process and standout details.

  • Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler’s Day-Date Sneaker Pairing Is So 2023

Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler’s Day-Date Sneaker Pairing Is So 2023

To make it as a couple, especially in Hollywood, where relationships appear even harder to make work than anywhere else, you really need to be on the same page. There are too many barriers in place for couples to be disjointed, even when it comes to the tiniest detail. Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler, who are rumored to have gotten together in December 2021, get that, which is why, on their recent daytime date in Los Angeles, the two were spotted wearing matching baseball hats and donning two of the most 2023 coded sneakers. Clearly, they’re on the same page.

While out and about celebrating the Elvis actor’s 32nd birthday, Gerber chose a cutoff white tank top, paint-stained blue trousers, and Onitsuka Tiger‘s viral Mexico 66 sneakers in white, blue, and red. Accessories wise, she added a faded blue hat, oversize sunglasses, and a simple canvas tote bag. Equally casual was Butler, who wore a black T-shirt, matching paint-stained pants, and a pair of Vans’ Authentic lace-ups, another eternally buzzy sneaker style, with his own blue cap.

How to Wear Air Jordans With Everything You Own

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

The Air Jordan 1 is often regarded as the most iconic of all sneakers, worn by Hall of Fame basketball player Michael Jordan during the last game at Madison Square Garden of his Chicago Bulls tenure in 1998. The shoe itself, introduced in 1984 when the athlete signed a deal with Nike, is now a street style symbol, which means building outfit ideas around it — whether with jeans, shorts, or dresses — is practically essential.

After ESPN aired a 10-part docuseries, “The Last Dance,” about Jordan’s famous career, his original red Jordans from 1985, aka the “Notorious” Jordan 1s, sold for $560,000 in a Sotheby’s auction. But today, there are 36 editions of Jordans and counting — with a new model released yearly — many of which you can find on resale sites and buy vintage.

As long as Jordans are still on the market, their legacy lives on, which is why they’re often the focal point of someone’s look, and not just an afterthought. From denim with front slits that reveal the retro kicks with every move to tailored short or skirt suits that put the inimitable shape of the high-top in full view, find 13 smart ways to plan an ensemble around a pair of Jordans ahead. We’re breaking down the outfits for every style in the book, whether you prefer neutrals and own classic, monochrome Jordans or you’re in proud possession of a multicolor, multitexture design from a limited-edition collaboration memorable enough to go down in history.

Keep reading to get inspired while you then shop the right Air Jordans to help you achieve each aesthetic.

The Best Sartorial Decision I Made All Year Was Switching to Chunky Sneakers

Once a hardcore flats lover, I’m now embracing the chunky-sneaker trend. I’ll admit it took me a few seasons to get on board, but I’ve officially converted to the comfy, albeit trendy, footwear style. It seems like social media agrees with me—my For You Page is inundated with influencers and fashion people wearing fun sneakers with polished outfits. Not to mention, Zappos just released a new line of sneakers from Brooks, appropriately named the Vibes Collection, all of which are playing a major role in my end-of-summer aesthetic. I’m currently styling the Ghost 15, a classic black sneaker with blue detailing, with my signature neutrals, but I’m also taking the plunge with a purple running shoe. Below, I’ve curated four outfits to wear with Brooks sneakers this season, so if you’re searching for ways to style this trend, look no further.

  • 16 Dresses to Style With Your Favorite Pair of Sneakers This Summer

16 Dresses to Style With Your Favorite Pair of Sneakers This Summer

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

A casual dress with sneakers is one of those timeless combinations that goes together like peanut butter and jelly — especially during the summertime. Not only are summer dresses and comfortable walking shoes great on their own, but they’ve also proven to be even better together — working in harmony to create a sporty-chic ensemble that can take you from the airport and office to post-work cocktails and beyond, all while keeping you feeling effortless and looking cool while doing it.

The style versatility of pairing a dress with sneakers is truly endless. Plus, thanks to the pandemic, we’ve all seemed to develop an even greater affinity for more casual fashion — often opting to sport a pair of trainers on our weekly outings, rather than a steep set of heels. And let’s be real: while life has returned mostly back to normal, it’s still hard to give up on the cushioned comfort that’s provided by a worn-in pair of flats. Fortunately, with the dress-and-sneaker combo, you don’t have to.

With so many trendy fashion retailers like Free People, Zara, H&M, and Nordstrom, among others, it’s easier than ever to find a staple set of sneakers to wear with dresses — and vice versa. From maxi dress styles to bodycon slips, sleeveless frocks, and more, you can pair just about any casual dress with sneakers to create the perfect daytime, summer ensemble.

To inspire some new outfits this season, we searched for the best pieces to match up with your favorite sneakers like minis (and high-tops), midis (plus slip-ons), and maxis (with classic canvas). Regardless of your style preference (we’re especially partial to pairing white sneakers with dressier looks for everyday wear) there’s an outfit combo out there to inspire a summer look that’s just perfect for you. So, grab your favorite sneakers and check out our dress picks ahead.

34 Perfect Fall Sneakers Every Fashion Person and Sneakerhead is Losing It Over

During fall and winter, I basically stick to two types of footwear: boots and sneakers. I actually don’t wear sneakers all that much when it’s hot out, so only shopping for sneakers this time of year has become the norm for me. This year, in particular, I’ve really been on high alert, as comfort is the biggest trend of 2023. And there are so many cool styles on the market that I naturally had to share them.

Celebs Are Causing These $120 Sneakers to Sell Out—Snag Them Before They’re Gone

While retro sneakers are the biggest sneaker trend of the moment, a single pair has been the front-runner in 2023. It’s impossible to talk about sneakers without mentioning how influential Adidas Sambas have been this year, and while they’re certainly not going anywhere, there’s a new sneaker style poised to be the next It pair. Meet the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers, a retro design from the 1960s that features a slim sole and the brand’s signature striped motif.

Celebrities with low-key style like Kaia Gerber and Hailey Bieber are opting for the retro kicks with their off-duty ensembles, styling them with staples like baggy jeans and relaxed trousers, and we have a feeling it’s only a matter of time until everyone else follows suit. 7 Celebrity Outfits That Are Defining How to Wear Sneakers in 2023

As you may have noticed, sneakers are as popular as ever, but the way people are wearing them has undoubtedly shifted. Gone are the days when sneakers were primarily worn with streetwear-inspired outfits. In 2023, I see sneakers styled with anything and everything. There are, however, a few themes at play, and stylish celebrities are leading the charge with a few sneaker-outfit trends.

Below, I’ve highlighted seven sneaker-outfit themes that are the most “2023” of them all. Olivia Wilde Wore the Easy Anti-Trend Outfit I Wear Repeatedly Every Summer

Certain outfits could never and will never fail you, which, in the summer, says a lot given how temperamental the the weather can be. Think slip dress and flat slides, a tank and jean shorts, or a billowy button-down and linen trousers. If you’re flustered in front of your wardrobe during the warmer months, opting for one of the above will never lead to regret. For me, though, the one outfit I’ll always grab for when in doubt is a white graphic tee, white jeans, and a casual pair of sneakers.

And apparently, I’m not the only one who’s in on this effortless ensemble. This week, Olivia Wilde got the same idea, styling a Mother Denim graphic tee with the line “Don’t be a clam, open up” on the front with wide-leg white jeans and one of her go-to pairs of Gucci x Adidas sneakers. With the look, she added a tote bag and the Ray-Ban Wayfarers she’s been donning all season long. • I Only Packed *One* Pair of Shoes For a Week In Canada—Here’s How I Styled Them

I Only Packed *One* Pair of Shoes For a Week In Canada—Here’s How I Styled Them

As much as I consider myself a travel-outfit and packing expert after years of trial and error, until recently, I’d never quite nailed the shoes aspect of the equation. I’d be comfortable all over, with a carry-on suitcase full of perfectly rolled up tops, pants, skirts, and dresses and an outfit I could wear comfortably for hours on end, and yet, my shoe game consistently felt off. Either I’d pack too many pairs or not enough, with most of the styles I prioritized ending up entirely impractical for the trip’s slated activities.

I never really put too much thought into this gap in my skill set until recently, when I found out that I’d be traveling 20+ hours in the span of one weekend, all by train, and only with one duffle-type carry-on. Knowing that my lack of travel prowess in the shoe department would only lead to pain and regret over the course of my trip, I set out to find a pair that would be comfortable, versatile, and chic for every occasion, including walking and standing around a miles-long race track given that my trip was dedicated to Canada’s Formula 1 race. And since F1 drivers travel the world more than almost anyone—with 23 races on the 2023 calendar in locations that also include Azerbaijan, Japan, Brazil, and Australia—I figured who better to ask for tips than them?

Specifically, I sought out Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries, teammates on the Scuderia Alpha Tauri F1 team that I traveled to the Emilia Romagna region of Italy with for the Imola Grand Prix last month. The Italian team, which is owned by Red Bull Racing’s performance clothing brand Alpha Tauri, happens to have a recurring collaboration with P448, the popular sneaker brand that has a factory just roughly 15 minutes away from the team’s. “It’s so nice,” says P448’s founder and CEO Wayne Kulkin. “Maybe there will be a sample ready and I can just drive it over.” The partnership—which began in 2022 and just saw a second collection launch earlier this month—means that Alpha Tauri’s drivers Tsunoda and De Vries wear their P448 sneakers to every single race, traveling in them on continent-crossing flights dozens of times per year. If the brand’s sneakers can pass their test, surely they’ll pass mine.

In perhaps the biggest plot twist of my life thus far: I’ve started wearing dad sneakers. It might not seem like that big of a fashion jump, what with all of the retro-inspired kicks that celebrities have been sporting this season. But if you knew me in high school — and how vehemently I despised the idea of wearing (let alone paying for!) the same trainers seen throughout my own dad’s closet — you’d understand just how big of a deal it is that I’ve come around to embracing the chunky silhouette. Alas, I — like seemingly everyone on the internet these days — have found myself wistfully swept up in the New Balance craze and have essentially been buying the brand’s nostalgic styles in bulk ever since.

While New Balance has no shortage of cool, endlessly comfy sneakers, this summer I’ve found my perfect pair in the New Balance 9060 Sneakers ($150), which have proven to be the silhouette of choice for dozens of supermodels and celebrities alike, including Hailey Bieber and Sydney Sweeney. I’ve been wearing the shoes nonstop this season and garnering a slew of compliments along the way (one woman on my last trip literally bought the shoes mid-flight because she was so obsessed with how they looked on me). Since I’m not in the business of gatekeeping, ahead, I share everything that’s worth knowing about these stylish New Balance sneakers — from their comfortable fit and easy-to-clean design to my best tips for shopping out your perfect size in the silhouette and more.

    Main Image

What I Like About the New Balance 9060 Sneakers

I’m not exaggerating when I say that these are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned — and the pair that made me a New Balance loyalist for good. The brand was kind enough to send me the style earlier this summer and I have been living in them nonstop ever since. They were the shoes I relied on for an overwhelmingly long travel day (and overnight flight) to the Dominican Republic, the style I slipped into on a recent road trip which entailed a six-hour drive time, and the sneakers I threw on as I was running out the door for a dinner with girlfriends — paired with a maxi dress and crossbody bag, no less. Even on my longest days outside of the house, I’ve been able to count on these shoes to keep me feeling comfortable, without any annoying pain in my heels or ankles. They’re also unbelievably versatile to style; I mean, how many other shoes in your closet can you feel good about wearing with a pair of sweats one day and a floral dress the next?

    POPSUGAR Photography | Kyley Warren

    What’s Worth Noting

On New Balance’s site, the shoe is marketed as being a unisex style — meaning it’s available in both men and women’s sizes, and boasts a standard width that’s designed to fit a variety of foot shapes. However, when shopping the silhouette out through other mainstream retailers — like Nordstrom or Foot Locker — the sneaker is listed as only being available in men’s sizes, which means that both the inventory and size selection are a bit more limited. I’m normally a US women’s size 10, so per the brand’s size guide, I ordered the shoe in the equivalent men’s size of 8.5. The sneaker ended up being a perfect match, with a snug enough fit to ensure the shoe wouldn’t slip off, but just enough wiggle room to keep me feeling comfortable throughout the day, too. If you typically buy shoes in US women’s sizes and are looking at getting these sneakers for yourself, I recommend referencing New Balance’s size and fit guide to ensure you get the correct equivalent size for yourself (and foot!).

Who Are These New Balance 9060 Sneakers Best For?

These sneakers are perfect for anyone who’s looking for a quality everyday shoe that they can wear everywhere and with anything in their closet. This style is designed to be a pair that you can wear to the gym, airport, out on a girl’s night, and beyond. The sneakers have a cushiony base that provides impact support while you’re running or doing any high-movement activities, as well as a lived in silhouette that’s breathable and easy to move around — making them the ideal style to sport for longer days when you’re outside of the house, navigating through the airport, or even exploring a new city by foot. Thanks to their sporty, bold design, the shoes are also easy to dress up for a more unique street style look; you can take a page out of Bieber’s style book and pair them with denim shorts, an oversize blazer, and a cool baseball cap for the ultimate everyday outfit.

15 Viral Shoe Trends That Are Already Defining Summer 2023

In a time when an entire phenomenon can begin and end on TikTok in the span of 24 hours, tracking what’s viral is a full-time job. In many ways, it’s my full-time job, making me the perfect person to ask when you’re looking to get in on the newest, most of-the-moment trends. • The One Sneaker Brand French Women Always Reach For

The One Sneaker Brand French Women Always Reach For

Ever since I saw Phoebe Philo walk out at the end of Celine shows during her tenure wearing Adidas Stan Smiths shoes, I’ve had a pair in my closet—along with almost every single chic woman I know. The style, quintessentially elevated, has come to represent a chic je ne sais quoi about modern-day elevated dressing. I’ve worn mine with lady jackets and office-appropriate trousers just as easily as I’ve worn my Adidas shoes with jeans and oversized sweatshirts on a day where I’m running errands. If a French woman could be a pair of sneakers, she’d 100% be a pair of Adidas shoes.

More than just simple, white leather shoes, the entire Adidas brand has become synonymous with cool, French girl style over the last few years. Their Sambas represent the fun-loving, trend-forward girl hanging out around the Marais neighborhood. Ultraboost live on the feet of cool, on-the-go moms picking up produce and taking their immaculately-dressed babies to the Louvre. For the fashion set, the Stan Smith reigns superior (although, we have a soft-spot colorful Gazelles too).

If you’re anything like me, you want an affordable sneaker that can go with anything. Luckily, nearly all of Adidas’ best-selling, must-have styles are $150 or under. If these outfits can’t convince you French women are obsessed with Adidas shoes, I honestly don’t know what will. Below, shop all the pairs sitting in their carts.
