  • Frankenstein Returns Slot Machine Video Review • This Week in Gambling

Just before Halloween we’re visiting Light & Wonder for a look at the brand new Frankenstein Returns slot machine! This is a follow up to their original Frankenstein slot (link below) which debuted two years ago. This game is delivered with MORE POWER and more Frankenstein heads, but with updated colors and more features. It still has the “It’s Alive” and “Power Up” elements, but updates include a Wheel Bonus, Multiplier Meter, Guaranteed Jackpots, and additional Power Ups!

Light & Wonder has brought a legendary horror icon to life with its new Frankenstein Returns slot machine, part of the company’s Universal Monsters lineup. Housed on Light & Wonder’s state-of-the-art Cosmic cabinet, the machine features a curved display, fiber-optic lighting, and a top monitor where Frankenstein’s face appears to follow players—a striking touch that enhances its eerie atmosphere.

The slot’s gameplay builds suspense with several themed features. The “It’s Alive!” feature activates when a special symbol lands on the first reel alongside one or more Frankenstein Monster symbols. When triggered, lightning arcs across the reels as the Monster reaches for prizes from a board above the reels, which can contain credit awards and progressive jackpots. The “Power Up” feature further heightens the excitement, adding multipliers up to 10x to prize board values until a reward is claimed. Free Games can also be triggered through scatter symbols, offering additional chances to activate the prize board and claim jackpots.

Frankenstein Returns includes multiple progressive jackpot levels, with the top-tier Grand Jackpot linked across machines in some configurations. The game is available in several denominations and line setups, ranging from penny play to higher-stakes versions. Visually and mechanically, this slot is designed to stand out on the casino floor. The lighting effects, sound design, and interactive animations make it as much a showpiece as a gaming experience.

  • Man Sues Bellagio Over Alleged Assault by Would-Be Jackpot Thieves – Casino.org

    Posted on: October 7, 2025, 07:17h.

    Last updated on: October 7, 2025, 09:48h.

A Las Vegas resident, Joel Vargas-Guitierrez, has filed suit against the Bellagio, alleging negligence and inadequate security after he was assaulted by three individuals attempting to claim his slot machine winnings.

The alleged assault took place bin a slot machine area at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. (Image: Shutterstock)

As part of the lawsuit — filed on October 3 in Clark County District Court and first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday — Vargas-Gutierrez is also suing his three alleged assailants (two men and one woman) for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The suit seeks damages exceeding $15,000, plus attorney fees, court costs, interest, punitive damages, and other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

    Incident Details

According to the complaint, on December 12, 2024, Vargas-Gutierrez, a regular Bellagio patron, won a $2,600 jackpot on a “Mo Mummy” slot machine. Due to the size of the payout, standard casino protocol required him to wait for an attendant to verify and process the winnings.

While waiting, according to Vargas-Gutierrez, he moved to a nearby slot machine to continue playing. During this time, three individuals approached the original slot, saw the jackpot display, and loudly proclaimed they were entitled to the winnings.

As Vargas‑Gutierrez attempted to resolve the dispute, the complaint alleges, one of the men advanced toward him in a threatening manner. Outnumbered, he took a swing in self‑defense, sparking a physical altercation that a bystander attempted to break up.

No security personnel were present for any of this, according to the filing.

The woman in the group then slapped Vargas‑Gutierrez, triggering a second confrontation in which he was tackled to the ground by her two accomplices, the complaint states.

Security guards allegedly arrived only after the altercation had escalated significantly.

“As a direct result of the incident, Mr. Vargas‑Gutierrez has suffered physical injuries, and mental and emotional distress which required professional medical treatment and he continues to deal with these symptoms to the present day,” the lawsuit states.

  • Big Shake 2 Slot Machine from Eclipse Gaming • This Week in Gambling

We’re getting up close and personal with the Big Shake 2 slot machine from our friends at Eclipse Gaming. This game comes with six jackpots, special features, and a cute little Gopher named Jackpot that rides a fire hose! You control that hose manually from a slider, directing where the coins fall onto the deck below! Big wins await!

Big Shake 2 from Eclipse Gaming injects fresh energy into the popular arcade-style slot genre by building on its predecessor’s strengths while adding new bonus mechanics and a playful mascot. The sequel preserves the coin-pusher simulation that made the original Big Shake a hit, using a real-time physics engine to mimic virtual coins being pushed off a shelf and into a tray.

In Big Shake 2, the game revolves around a 3×3 reel grid, and at maximum bet a special symbol can deposit six coins into the upper coin tray — potentially pushing coins (and credits) off the ledge for awards. But the real standout features lie in the bonus rounds that make the game more interactive and rewarding.

The Rapid-Fire Bonus triggers when certain symbols land, summoning “Jackpot the Gopher” to the screen. A timer runs between five and 25 seconds, and the player uses a press-and-slide lever to direct virtual coins from a hose toward “mini-gems” that can yield big prizes.

The Gold Rush Bonus activates when coin symbols appear on the first two reels along with a Gold Rush symbol on the third. A gate opens and a torrent of coins pours down, offering opportunities to hit Minor or Major jackpots — the only way to win them. Additionally, a Second Chance Re-Spin Bonus gives players another shot at improving outcomes after certain spins.

Eclipse describes Big Shake 2 as “feature-forward,” meaning that the bonus mechanics are core to the experience rather than occasional add-ons. The company notes that the original Big Shake was one of its best-performing games, and Big Shake 2 builds on that success with updated visuals, enhanced features, and the introduction of Jackpot the Gopher.

In short, Big Shake 2 retains the nostalgic charm and tactile appeal of a coin-pusher arcade while layering on strategic bonus play, mascot-driven interaction, and multiple paths to jackpot wins. Mystery Targets: These are located between the ducks in the gallery. When hit, these mystery targets will update or multiply the prize amounts seen on all the ducks in the game. The prize amounts shown on the ducks will increase any time a mystery target is hit by a cannon and awarded. This will not happen if ALL DUCKS or RELOAD are awarded. • Nevada’s Handpay Reduction Act • This Week in Gambling

Nevada’s Handpay Reduction Act • This Week in Gambling

You may have heard that the IRS is thinking of raising the reporting threshold for slot jackpots. But even if they don’t, the Handpay Reduction Act being could raise the reporting limit anyway. Representatives Dina Titus of Nevada and Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania have brought forth a bill which would mandate a change if the IRS failed to act on the matter. Titus has been advocating for this regulatory change, introducing bills in 2020 and 2022, albeit without advancing past the committee stage.

Recent developments, however, seem to suggest that pushing the Handpay Reduction Act  may be unnecessary. In November, the IRS Advisory Council recommended raising the threshold for automatic W2-G filings, potentially obviating the need for a new law.  Titus and Reschenthaler have lobbied the IRS to increase the reporting threshold for slot jackpot winnings. Last year, they introduced the Shifting Limits on Thresholds, or SLOTAct, to pressure the issue, proposing to elevate the tax threshold for slot winnings from $1,200 to $5,000.

Titus emphasized the importance of updating antiquated gaming regulations, not only for her constituents in Las Vegas but also for fostering legal gaming growth in local and Tribal communities nationwide, as conveyed to Casinos.com. She highlighted how the outdated $1,200 standard imposes significant compliance burdens on taxpayers and operational costs on casinos nationwide due to inflationary pressures.

The IRS Advisory Council now endorses this proposal contained within the Handpay Reduction Act, suggesting a threshold of $5,800 to accommodate inflation properly. Furthermore, the Council advises the IRS to establish a mechanism for regularly adjusting this threshold to reflect inflation accurately. Time will tell how this plays out, but players should be optimistic about where this is moving.
