Ranking The Kardashian’s Brands From Best To Worst

It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that the Kardashian family went from reality television stars to a familial empire worth billions of dollars. One of the world’s most hated families, the Kardashian-Jenner Conglomerate is a force to be reckoned with. Led by the passionate matriarch Kris Jenner, the clan is composed of some of the most famous faces in the world.

    There’s
Kim Kardashian, the one who started it all. The face of fashion houses like Balenciaga, who has a billion business ventures of her own, never seems to stop working. Her iconic line, “Seems like nobody wants to work these days,” holds true to her ethic.

    Then there’s
Kourtney Kardashian-Barker, formerly with Scott Disick in earlier seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. If you caught on to her hyphenated surname, she’s married to Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker.

To complete the Kardashian side of the family, we have Khloe Kardashian and their under-the-radar brother, Rob. Khloe was previously married to NBA player, Lamar Odom, before having two children with Tristan Thompson (but that’s a whole other scandal.)

But then, there are the two Jenner girls: Kendall and
Kylie. Kendall is a world-renowned fashion model and Kylie, is a makeup guru, potential billionaire, and trendsetter.

The family may be famous (or infamous) for a multitude of reasons, but I know one thing: they’re hard workers. They churn out brand after brand to make more money…and while not every Kardashian-centered enterprise is a success, they keep trying.

Something about me? I love to test the Kardashian brands. I think it’s fun. And since I’ve tried so many, I can tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Here are the best and worst Kar-Jenner brands!

    BEST: SKIMS

@kimkardashian just dropped new @SKIMS ♬ original sound – Kim Kardashian

    Sister:Kim

Review: My friends often say I should be a SKIMS representative (and I’m still waiting for the call.) I fell in love with the shapewear-turned-clothing brand years ago, and think there are no more flattering basics than these.

From hot night-out dresses, to slimming shapewear that can be worn on its own, SKIMS is my go-to. And oddly enough, I get the most compliments when I wear SKIMS.

Best Products:Cotton Jersey Shirt, Ultimate Bra, Boyfriend T-Shirt

    BEST: Good American

    @goodamerican We’re wearing new denim, can’t help it 😌

    Sister: Khloe

Review: Khloe created Good American to ensure inclusive sizing in denim is available in department stores. While I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend a decent amount of money on a pair of jeans, I had heard great things from my friends…so I purchased a few during Black Friday sales.

Good American denim is high quality, comfortable, and has just the right amount of stretch. They’re among my most flattering jeans — I cannot believe I ever doubted Khloe. All fine denim should be comfy, trendy, and long-lasting, and Good American is all three.

Best Products: Soft Tech Good Classic Bootcut Jeans, Good 90’s Jeans

    BEST: 818 Tequila

@chamberlaincoffee espresso martini: the origin story. see you tomorrow. 👀☕️ 818 Tequila is a registered trademark of K & Soda Inc. Produced under license from 818 Spirits Inc© 2024. Please Drink Responsibly. 818 Tequila, 40% Alc./Vol. ©2024 Imported by 818 Spirits, Manhasset, NY. 21+ only. Please do not share with anyone under the legal purchase age for alcohol. Drink responsibly. Don’t drink and drive. @emmachamberlain @kendalljenner ♬ original sound – Chamberlain Coffee

    Sister: Kendall

Review: I honestly despise tequila. It will never be my drink of choice…but when it’s the only option, sometimes you cut your losses. When 818 Tequila first started, everyone was drinking it. And somehow, I ended up with a bottle myself.

818 — for someone who absolutely detests most tequila brands — is surprisingly good. It has a light vanilla flavor that cuts the potency of that acrid tequila flavor. I was able to drink it without coughing, spluttering, and wanting to cry — so, good for you, Kendall.

    Best Products:818 Tequila

    BEST: Lemme

    @christinakirkman goodnight.
♬ original sound – CHRISTINA KIRKMAN

    Sister: Kourtney

Review: Okay, this one was surprising…because I wasn’t really sold on the idea of one of the Kardashian sisters launching a wellness gummy. But, Lemme has a terrific influencer marketing strategy that has sold me on a few things.

The Lemme Sleep gummy will actually knock you into outer space. If you want to sleep for the next century, try the Lemme Sleep. You’ll get 4-6 business days of rest. I cannot attest to the other Lemme gummies, but these…these work.

    Best Product:Lemme Sleep

    WORST (and BEST): Kylie Cosmetics

@kyliejenner 🤍 skin 🤭 🤍 kylie concealer shade 4.5c 🤍 rhode & kylie blush 🤍 kylie matte eyeshadow palette 🤍 precision pout lip liner shade ‘saturn’ 🤍 supple kiss lip glaze shade ‘rose bloom’
♬ NIGHTS LIKE THIS – The Kid LAROI

    Sister: Kylie

Review: I don’t hate Kylie Cosmetics as much as the next guy…in fact, I think we should give it some grace. While not every product is in my go-to makeup bag, I really love the little blushes.

The formula is smooth, the baby pink was ahead of its time, and you cannot tell me the Lip Kit is not iconic. It may not be the best makeup you’ve ever used, but I wouldn’t toss it in the trash.

Best Products: Lip & Cheek Glow Balm, Lip & Cheek Blush Tint

    WORST: SKKN

@kimkardashian The @SKKN BY KIM ♬ original sound – Kim Kardashian

    Sister: Kim

Review: Kim, dearest. I cannot afford a $90 Hyaluronic Acid Serum. With the costly price tag of $575 for the Complete Collection of SKKN by Kim, I seriously don’t think I will ever see a SKKN product in real life.

If you’re going to spend this much on skincare, go to the dermatologist and get a clinically curated routine for your skin. I wish I could attest to the life-changing benefits of
SKKN, but I haven’t heard anyone say much about it.

Best Products: Cannot afford to even find out.

    WORST: Poosh

    Sister: Kourtney

Review:Poosh is your guide to wellness…and Kourtney’s Poosh is filled with product recs, brands that will help you achieve Kourtney’s mindful approach to life, and little guides to wellness.

Of course, there’s the opportunity to shop your heart out after reading. Mostly, Poosh features a plethora of hot products in the home, wellness, beauty, and lifestyle categories. It’s Kourt’s response to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop! And yes, one of the recs is a $2,000 infrared sauna.

    Best Products:Phytotherapy LED Face Mask

    WORST: Khy

    @style_ishau #khy #khyreview ♬ original sound – style_ishau

    Sister: Kylie

Review:Khy is a drop-based fashion line by Kylie Jenner. Kylie dipped her toe into the fashion world with leather. And while I do enjoy the way some of the pieces look, I haven’t seen many of her leather items look as good in the real world.

However, she’s been switching up the vibe from drop to drop, so I have hope it’s getting better…it’s just, some of the styles are too similar to what SKIMS and Good American sell. So it’s hard to betray those two and go for Khy.

  • Please Don’t Keep Acting, Kim

    Please Don’t Keep Acting, Kim

Oh, Kim Kardashian. How you make it so difficult to defend you at times. Look, I even understood why you wore the iconic Marilyn dress to the Met Gala. I called you a visionary.

When it was announced that Kim Kardashian would star alongside Emma Roberts in Ryan Murphy’s
American Horror Story: Delicate, the world was a bit confused. That Kim K? Reality TV star turned influencer and fashion mogul, who became famous not for her talent but for her incessant dramaon a RYAN MURPHY SHOW?

But I kept my worries to myself, unlike the entire internet that was ripping her apart
before we saw her acting debut. Anyways. I tuned in week after week to watch Murphy’s Rosemary’s Baby-inspired show…and you know what? Kim is not the worst part about it.

Because the main thing you must remember is you can only enjoy this kind of production is to keep front and center of your mind that Kim is not an actress. She didn’t come into the public eye hoping to be the next Marilyn Monroe in terms of blockbuster movie deals. She’s a hustler — meaning she won’t turn down an opportunity to level-up financially.

If you weren’t already aware , Kim’s own reality show has been running for over 20 seasons between E!’s
Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Hulu’s The Kardashians. And every week on the show, we catch a glamorous glimpse into the life of Kim Kardashian and her famous family.

This past week, Ryan Murphy sat down with Kim and asked how she felt about a scripted show where she was the main stellar event. Yes, you read that right. Ryan Murphy approached Kim Kardashian to
    continue her acting career.

And if you’re in shock…you must remember her iconic quote:

Seems Like Nobody Wants To Work These Days

    via GIPHY

I told you earlier that Kim is a hustler…but maybe you don’t believe me. Let’s look at the facts: whether you’re a Taylor Swift-supporter who vehemently despises the Kardashians or not, Kim has a similar work ethic to Taylor Swift — they do not stop, darlin.

Kim currently has two brands: SKKN, her skincare and beauty line, and Skims, the leading shapewear and loungewear brand in the industry. As previously mentioned, she stars on The Kardashians alongside her mother and sisters: Kris, Kylie, Kendall, Kourtney, and Khloe.

Then there’s her stint in the fashion industry — an ambassador for controversial brand Balenciaga, constantly seen front row at Fashion Week sitting next to
Vogue Editor-in-Chief, the highly-regarded and highly-feared Anna Wintour.

And there’s no doubt that we’re dealing with one of the most
criticized families in America. They’re the closest thing we’ve got to our own Royal Family, and thousands flock to social media to denounce their promotion of tatty products and unrealistic body expectations.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone when Kim Kardashian dips her toe into a new profession. She’s already checked reality TV star, lawyer, entrepreneur, mother, and model off her list…why is acting so shocking?

You’d Do It Too For A Check

    @gaymanwithaspraytan #greenscreen #kimkardashian #thekardashians #kardashians #ahs ♬ original sound – Gay Man with a Spray Tan

So here we are, in the “acceptance” phase of grief. Kim Kardashian will be starring in Ryan Murphy’s show (again) so you may as well get to know the plot. The show, which is currently untitled, will follow Kim as Los Angeles’ most successful divorce lawyer leading an all-female team.

While the role seems perfect for Kardashian — her father was a famous superpower litigant and she’s in law school herself…Murphy has been drawing together something of a dream-team cast to support her. That includes a glam bevy of A-list actresses who will be Kim’s team of lawyers. And….there’s even a love interest.

And I’m sure we’re all thinking the same thing:
but she can’t really act, can she? No. But neither can most nepo babies out there…and yet, we let them.

We’re living in a culture where the contrarian point of view is all that claims our attention. Being a hater is cool. And yet, I find myself empathizing with the Kar-Jenner clan. Wouldn’t you also grasp at straws to continue your legacy of influence and riches?

If you truly look deep inside, you may realize that we’d do it too if it meant a big fat paycheck…we simple folk simply don’t get those opportunities.

  • SKKN By Kim is Not Worth the Hype: Here are the products we recommend instead.

SKKN By Kim is Not Worth the Hype: Here are the products we recommend instead.

You’ve probably heard a lot about Kim Kardashian’s new skincare line, SKKN by Kim.

It first entered the news cycle just by virtue of being Kim’s brand. After shutting down KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance, everyone wondered what Kim was going to do next. Surprisingly, her popular apparel brand Skims gets rave reviews for quality and comfort. So when she launched SKKN, she inevitably made headlines.

SKKN claims to be “an innovative line of uncompromising skincare developed by Kim Kardashian. Through a visionary nine-product ritual, SKKN By Kim delivers nourishment, renewal, and an indulgent at-home experience.” But what is it, really?

The packaging claims to be sustainable but was accused of greenwashing. Womp womp. The nine-piece collection also raised eyebrows for its price range, with products ranging from $43 to $95. The full collection includes a cleanser, toner, exfoliator, a hyaluronic acid serum, vitamin C8 serum, a face cream, an eye cream, oil drops, and night oil. It’s a luxury line, she said in defense, so expectations were high.

Because at this point, celebrity brands are ubiquitous. Even Brad Pitt, who allegedly didn’t wash his face twice a day until his twenties (ew), has a new skin line. So what’s Kim bringing? Just her name? Her beige packaging — which is practically all she brought to her Beats collab?

In SKKN’s press release, she stressed the quality of materials and the dermatology-first approach. “What began as a psoriasis diagnosis became the catalyst for my journey of skin-care discoveries, inspiring me to learn more about my skin and how to care for it,” she said. “Working with some of the top dermatologists and estheticians over the years has given me the incredible opportunity to learn from their expertise, and I knew I had to share my learnings.”

SKKN has been around for a few months now, so we can safely say we’ve had a chance to sit with it and get past the hype to give you a real review.

So is it worth it? Our editors say … no.

Though it isn’t just another flop celebrity brand, there’s nothing special about it. And now, with Rhode Skin making headlines for introducing unique, versatile products at an affordable price point, SKKN products aren’t bringing anything new to the table.

So what should you buy instead? We’re breaking down each reason you might have been tempted to add SKKN products to your cart or your wishlist — and what you can get to scratch that itch instead.

All products featured are independently selected by our editors. Things you buy through our links may earn us a commission.

You might think SKKN is reasonably priced…

With skincare, I’m not afraid of paying higher prices for higher quality. But most SKKN products are pretty mid and their ingredients are nothing noteworthy (more on that later). The markups are a result of good marketing and Kim K’s affiliation with the brand. I don’t know about you, but I’m not down with the Kim tax.

Brands like The Ordinary have proven how accessible it is to get high efficacy ingredients at an affordable price. But if you don’t want to do the work of decoding which ingredients at The Ordinary work for you, try brands with lower price points, similar clean ingredient values, and overall better products. We like the skincare offerings from Kosas or Indie Lee

    .

You might think SKKN is prestigious because it’s made by Kim Kardashian…

Hate to burst your bubble, but very few “celebrity” brands are made by the celebrity. I’m sure you didn’t think Kim was in the lab cooking up your cleanser, but she probably wasn’t very involved in much of the ideation process either. She simply wrapped the products in her signature beige with her name on the label. And there’s not much that’s prestigious about that.

And I don’t know about you, but I haven’t heard a single peep from the digital skincare community about any of her products in the past few months. I personally like to buy products that have the prestige of positive reviews. If stores I trust have picked them up, I know I can trust the quality. And if beauty lovers have actually integrated them into their routines, I know they work. I bought the Kosas Serum Spray — which is a novel product and unlike anything else I have — only after I’d heard about it from multiple different sources. And I am loyal to Indie Lee because it’s stocked in clean beauty stores I love and every product I’ve tried has worke. To me, that’s real prestige.

You might think SKKN contains only good ingredients…

SKKN, like many other brands, is actually full of filler ingredients. While it may “be certified clean” (which isn’t a regulated term so has no real value) and gluten free, the ingredients are pretty unremarkable. Nothing sets SKKN apart from any other brand in terms of formulation. And the efficacy isn’t even that strong.

For products with actives like SKKN Vitamin C serum, I would definitely opt for something stronger and better. The Indie Lee CQ-10 Toner is a cult-favorite brightening powerhouse with more complex brightening ingredients. It’s also trusted by stores that specifically ban many harmful ingredients, so there’s more pedigree to its ingredients than a meaningless label.
