Camila Cabello Describes ‘C,XOXO’ Album as Miami Baddie Energy

    [ad_1]

“This album is very inspired by Miami,” Camila Cabello revealed exclusively to SiriusXM Hits 1 Miami hosts Mack & Jen about her forthcoming album “C,XOXO,” due out June 28.

Camila confirmed one track on “C,XOXO” even has “Dade County” in the title, and the three words she chose to describe the album were “Miami baddie energy.”

In terms of collaborators, Camila said she primarily worked with El Guincho and Jasper Harris on this body of work. “The three of us kind of hunkered down, and we just made it kind of, like, you know, as a little three-piece little band,” she said.

On “C,XOXO,” Camila said fans can expect “things that you haven’t heard from [her] before” and “a lot of like, ‘Oh, what is that?’ moments — sonically, lyrically.”

“I always talk about relationships and things that have happened to me,” she added. “I think there’s some bars.”

Camila also said she wants to play the new album for both Charli XCX, whom she worked with on the song “Scar Tissue,” and Lana Del Rey, whom she performed “I LUV IT” with at Coachella.

“I could just tell she’s one of those people — which I really respect, it’s like, she just does things from the love of her heart,” Camila said of Lana. “She really loved that song, and she likes my music … But, you know, the fact that she invited me, it’s just, like, with no ulterior motive other than to support me and because she likes something. And I just think having that kind of passion for music and that kind of pure intention when you’ve been in the music industry for so long, it’s really rare.”

  • Dua Lipa ‘Freaking Out a Little’ About Hosting and Performing on ‘SNL’

Dua Lipa ‘Freaking Out a Little’ About Hosting and Performing on ‘SNL’

    [ad_1]

“We’re freaking out a little … You just don’t know what to expect, but it’s gonna be fun,” Dua Lipa told SiriusXM Hits 1 about hosting and performing on “Saturday Night Live” tomorrow (May 4). “I’m ready, I’m prepped.”

Dua just dropped her third studio album, “Radical Optimism,” her first full-length release since 2020’s “Future Nostalgia.” The new album contains the singles “Houdini,” “Training Season,” and “Illusion.”

Speaking to the “Morning Mash Up” hosts, Dua shared a recent conversation she had with “SNL” writer Bowen Yang about the last time she went on the show. “During the dress rehearsal I was really, really nervous,” Dua said. “After the dress rehearsal, we sit in a room, and it’s the whole cast. Lorne [Michaels] comes in, and we’re talking about the skits — what’s good, what’s not, what we’re gonna change.”

Dua continued, “And at that point, something just switched, and I felt like a real part of the team. And I think that’s just how I’m going to see it … It’s just a whole show together, and so it’s about everything being seamless and fun. And I guess that’s more the crux of it rather than, ‘This has to be better than this part.’ I feel for me it all has to flow and be in harmony.”

  • Luke Hemmings Confirms Sierra Deaton Sings on New EP

Luke Hemmings Confirms Sierra Deaton Sings on New EP

    [ad_1]

“I caught the bug,” Luke Hemmings told host Mikey Piff on SiriusXM Hits 1 (Ch. 2) of making his own solo music outside of 5 Seconds of Summer.

Don’t have SiriusXM yet? Start listening today! See Offer Details.

Today (March 7), Luke released “Shakes,” the lead single off his just-announced solo EP, boy, which drops on April 26 — his first since his critically acclaimed debut project, When Facing the Things We Turn Away From (2021). The EP, Luke explained, explores the “desperate, emotional state of being lonely in a hotel room and wanting to go home.”

As both the lead vocalist of 5 Seconds of Summer and a successful solo artist, Luke said he’s able to juggle both careers at the same time because the creative process takes so long. When one slows down, he can work on the other.

“The breaks in between making albums are bigger for us now and longer,” he said of the band. “I think we all just want to be able to be free and do what we want, whether that’s mowing your lawn or making music.”

Luke Hemmings at the SiriusXM Studios in New York City - SiriusXM Step and Repeat - March 2024

Luke’s forthcoming boy EP was recorded in New York with GRAMMY-nominated producer Sammy Witte and influenced by acts like LCD Soundsystem, My Bloody Valentine, The Verve, and Cocteau Twins. According to Luke, the new music is “from the heart.” And although When Facing the Things We Turn Away From was created during and inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, boy “still has that lonely, isolated feel to it” as it was “written in pieces on the road.”

Throughout the creation process, Luke told Mikey he was inspired by lost-in-translation-type movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind as well as New York City as a whole, where you can still feel alone despite being surrounded by people. He called out the lyric in “Shakes” that goes, “The city tends to move on all the same,” as meaning, “Life’s gonna keep moving with or without you.”

He wrote the chorus for “Shakes” first and then spent the next year on the rest. “By the time I’m writing the verses, you have so much life under your belt, and you’re almost writing from a different perspective than you were … And a lot of the songs are like that, where there’s different pieces from different moments in time,” he said.

Luke, who confirmed earlier this year that he married longtime girlfriend Sierra Deaton, also revealed that the female vocalist that can be heard harmonizing with him on the boy track “Close Enough to Feel You” is in fact his wife.

“She’s in everything,” he said of Sierra’s influence on his music.

This week’s HITBOUND features fresh tracks from Hits 1 host 24kGoldn, as well as channel regulars Conan Gray, JVKE, girl in red, MAX, and more — plus four epic collaborations and Why Don’t We’s Corbyn Besson’s debut solo single.

If you’d like to discover more New Music Friday releases, listen to HITBOUND with Mikey Piff, airing every weekend on SiriusXM Hits 1, and the HITBOUND channel, streaming exclusively on the SiriusXM app.

    24kGoldn – “Clarity”

Our friend 24kGoldn recently released his latest song, “Clarity,” which might just be his most open song yet. You can hear more about the meaning behind “Clarity” during the latest episode of The Goldn Hour with 24kGoldn on the SiriusXM app.

    Aidan Martin – “Lonely People”

Newcastle singer-songwriter Aidan Martin said that when it comes to the visuals for his song “Lonely People,” he was really inspired by the “scenes from [his] actual life… the drone really gave perspective of being along in this city.”

    Conan Gray – “Lonely Dancers”

Conan Gray announced that his next album, FOUND HEAVEN, will drop April 5. His latest song, “Lonely Dancers,” dives into ’80s inspo, while the album artwork channels David Bowie.

Corbyn Besson – “Love Me Better”

Corbyn Besson of Why Don’t We released his debut solo single, “Love Me Better.” He said in an Instagram post, “You are all my foundation and I feel so blessed to be able to create for you. I hope this song makes you feel BADASS.” We sure feel that way listening!

Em Beihold – “Maybe Life Is Good”

It’s been a little bit over two years since Em Beihold released the super-viral “Numb Little Bug.” Well, one massive song, a debut EP, a college degree, and a headlining tour later, she’s got a new song out now called “Maybe Life Is Good”! She says the song is her “gaslighting [herself] into positivity.”

girl in red – “Too Much”

We hope this song gives you all the “serotonin”! Last year, she opened for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour, and now in 2024, we’ve got her sophomore album on the way! It’s called I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY! and it’s due out April 12. “Too Much” is the first single off the album.

    JVKE/Pink Sweat$ – “lavender”

JVKE has consistently put feelings into words with his piano skills and songs like “this is what heartbreak feels like” and “this is what falling in love feels like.” Well, if the color lavender could be described in a song, it would be this one — and “lavender” also features R&B artist PinkSweat$!

MAX/HUH YUNJIN of LE SSERAFIM – “STUPID IN LOVE”

MAX is no stranger to collaborations… On his upcoming album, LOVE IN STEREO (out February 16), he has features from keshi, JVKE, Bazzi, DUCKWRTH, and more. We are “STUPID IN LOVE” with this song that features HUH YUNJIN of LE SSERAFIM!

Catch MAX on the Morning Mash Up this Valentine’s Day, as well as his upcoming VALENTENS Takeover on The 10s Spot.

Noah Kahan/Brandi Carlile – “You’re Gonna Go Far”

2023 was a big year for Noah Kahan, and 2024 is about to be an even bigger year for him. He shared his compilation album, Stick Season (Forever), which features all his re-released songs from Stick Season, with collaborations from Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, Hozier, Gracie Abrams, and more.

His latest collaboration is “You’re Gonna Go Far” with Brandi Carlile. He said in an Instagram post, “The word forever used to terrify me. I hate finality, there is too much uncertainty and boredom affiliated with the rest of time. There is so much joy in the world, waiting to be found. That is something that Stick Season has shown me, that this year has shown me. Sometimes it just takes a change in perspective.”

Well said! Noah Kahan will be kicking off his We’ll All Be Here Forever Tour in North America next month.

    Sia/Kylie Minogue – “Dance Alone”

Two Australian pop powerhouses, Sia and Kylie Minogue, join forces on the song “Dance Alone” — the first single off of Sia’s upcoming album, Reasonable Woman (out May 3). The album will have more features from Chaka Khan, Labrinth, Tierra Whack, Kaliii, Paris Hilton, and more.

  • Tyla Talks Viral Smash Hit ‘Water’ Ahead of the GRAMMY Awards

Tyla Talks Viral Smash Hit ‘Water’ Ahead of the GRAMMY Awards

    [ad_1]

South African pop artist Tyla celebrated her 22nd birthday today (January 30) with an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1 (Ch. 2). Speaking with hosts Mack and Jen during her first-ever trip to Miami, Tyla opened up about her hit single, debut album, worldwide tour, and alternate career plans. Listen to the full interview on the SiriusXM app now.

    Breakout single “Water”

The lead single from Tyla’s forthcoming debut album, “Water” went viral on TikTok and is now nominated for Best African Music Performance at this weekend’s GRAMMY Awards. Tyla told Mack and Jen that she doesn’t have a speech prepared in case she wins, but that she’s “just grateful to be nominated” and is “excited for the overall night.”

She also expressed her amazement that both Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake have performed “Water.” Janet mixed “Water” with “What Have You Done For Me Lately” during a tour performance and Justin covered the song during his free “superfan” show in Memphis.

“It’s crazy to see how far the song has traveled,” Tyla said.

    Debut solo album

Tyla’s self-titled debut solo album is due out next month, and Tyla — who said she couldn’t wait to visit South Beach while in Miami — recommended everyone listen to the album for the first time while on a beach.

The album, she revealed, has been in the works for over two years. “I’m just happy that we’ve gotten to this point. I’m so happy with the way it sounds and I’m excited for people to hear it,” she said.

The success of “Water” has allowed to her travel the world, including Miami. “Ever since I got signed, I left South Africa for the first time,” she explained. “I was in Dubai, Nigeria, London, America. I just feel like I met so many talented people and experienced so many different things and I managed to then put that into the music and make a perfect blend of everything.”

  • How Jimmy Fallon Wrote ‘Wrap Me Up’ with Meghan Trainor

How Jimmy Fallon Wrote ‘Wrap Me Up’ with Meghan Trainor

    [ad_1]

Jimmy Fallon stopped by The Morning Mash Up to talk all things holidays, from his own “Griswold-crazy” family traditions to his new Christmas song “Wrap Me Up” with Meghan Trainor. Stream the full interview on the SiriusXM app.

When it comes to releasing new original holiday music, the one to beat is always Mariah Carey with her epic 1994 hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” — which still climbs the charts every December. Jimmy joked, “I feel like she had a great run. We love her. But I’m ready for something else.”

Last year, Jimmy released the original Christmas song “It Was A…(Masked Christmas)” with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion. Now, he’s in the process of putting together a full “comedy holiday album for next year,” he revealed, which will include his recently-released song “Wrap Me Up.”

“Full album. It’s all originals. And nothing sounds like Mariah Carey,” Jimmy said. “I don’t even know if 70 percent of it is good. There are two or three that might be good. But it’s so interesting, when you want to write these songs, a lot of people want to do a version of Mariah Carey, and I go, ‘She did it. She crushed it. She doesn’t even do a version of hers, because she did it already. She nailed it. Do something totally different.’”

Jimmy Fallon with The Morning Mash Up hosts on SiriusXM Hits 1

He continued, “So I had this idea. Meghan Trainor’s been a friend of the show. I said, ‘I’m working on this holiday album.’ She goes, ‘I want to be part of it. I want to do something. What’s the idea?’ And of course I had no idea.”

Jimmy then sent Meghan a voice memo (he played the original recording on The Morning Mash Up) of him free-styling what would become “Wrap Me Up.” But he had the lyrics as “wrap it up,” and it was Meghan who came up with the idea of changing it to “wrap me up,” from the point of view of a guy guessing what his girlfriend got him for Christmas.

“She’s like, ‘You’re looking at the gift. Wrap me up, ’cause I’m the gift, I’m the present, I’m the whole dang package,’” Jimmy said of Meghan’s theme for the song. After Meghan sent her own demo back, the two FaceTimed and wrote the whole song together in an hour.

  • Dua Lipa Reveals the Meaning Behind ‘Houdini’ Lyrics

Dua Lipa Reveals the Meaning Behind ‘Houdini’ Lyrics

    [ad_1]

Following her GRAMMY-nominated song “Dance the Night” from the Barbie soundtrack, Dua Lipa is back on SiriusXM Hits 1 with her latest single, “Houdini.” The lead single from her forthcoming third studio album, “Houdini” serves as the introduction to Dua’s next musical chapter.

STREAM SIRIUSXM HITS 1: Hear Dua Lipa’s full interview on 11/15 at 5pm ET

Speaking with Tony Fly and Simon for Hits 1 LA, Dua described the process behind writing and recording “Houdini” — and the rest of the tracks from her next album — with core collaborators Caroline Ailin, Danny L. Harle, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

“‘Houdini’ we wrote last November, so it’s been almost a year,” she explained. “I’ve been writing since 2021, and then I intermittently, in between every leg of the tour, I kind of stopped and went back into the studio, so it was just like very back-to-back. But it was only like last year where I felt like I was really getting to the place I really, really wanted to — probably around June-time last year where I was like, ‘Okay, I feel like I’m onto something. It’s all starting to shape up, and it’s getting to a place where I want it to be.’”

According to Dua, it was “Houdini” that set the tone for the entire album to come. She said, “We wrote two songs, one after the other, and ‘Houdini’ was one of them, and I was like, “Okay, I feel like now I know exactly what this album’s gonna be and what it’s gonna sound like.”

She described the new songs as “diary form,” where she “wrote them imminently after something had happened” but always took the time to let the lyrics sit.

“When you look back on it two weeks later, a month later, two months later, your perspective completely changes,” Dua told Hits 1, “so I think it’s so important to always take a little bit of a breather from something.”

In the song’s lyrics, which reference legendary escape artist Harry Houdini, Dua Lipa cautions her suitors:

Tell me all the ways you need me
    I’m not here for long
Catch me or I go Houdini

She said, “I think the whole idea of it is Houdini-ing in the sense of like, ‘Okay, there are too many red flags here and I gotta dip.’ And I have to see those red flags for what they are and not be like, ‘Oh, actually, I’m sure it can change,’ or whatever.’”

Dua Lipa’s personal red flags? Chewing and talking with your mouth open and little ankle socks.

Set post-rehearsal in a dancehall, the “Houdini” music video was directed by Manu Cossu with cinematographer André Chemetoff and received 10 million views in less than 24 hours. Dua revealed that they shot the video over the course of two 12-hour days.

“It was a lot of fun — a lot of bruises, a lot of sweat, a lot of dancing. It was so fun, though,” she said. “It’s really a video shoot that I just put 110 percent in.”
