  • ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast Named Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Convoy’ of Set Trailers ‘Downey Land,’ Says Simu Liu: ‘Chefs Had Come and Laid Out This Full Buffet’

    [ad_1]

Simu Liu said in a new interview with Collider that Robert Downey Jr. had a “convoy of trailers” on the set of “Avengers: Doomsday,” which the film’s cast and crew hilarious named “Downey Land.” Liu returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Shang-Chi in the 2026 tentpole opposite Downey as the villainous Doctor Doom. Downey’s return to Marvel as a villain and not in his iconic Iron Man role is fueling the majority of interest in “Doomsday.” It appears the studio pulled out all the stops on set for the Oscar winner’s grand return.

“Downey famously has this convoy of trailers and this whole area in base camp that we affectionately called Downey Land,” Liu said. “And I remember getting invited to Downey Land for the first time and just showing up in this tent, and it’s all this beautiful Andy Warhol-esque artwork, except all the characters are Downey. I mean, he’s so self-aware.”

“So, he greeted me, and then I didn’t realize that Downey Land has its own chefs, but I had brought my set lunch, and he was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no. We don’t do that here,’” Liu continued. “The chefs had come and laid out this full buffet, and I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll put this away.’ And then just the people walking through, I was like, ‘I cannot believe I’m having lunch with these people.’”

Liu and Downey are just two members of the sprawling “Avengers: Doomsday” cast, which mixes Marvel stalwarts like Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, and Tom Hiddleston with returning X-Men actors like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn and James Marsden, plus new MCU favorites like Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and a lot more. It’s unclear which actors Liu shares scenes with in the film, but it’s safe to say he was a big admirer of every scene partner.

“For me, it was very imperative that I put that fan side away,” Liu told Collider. “I compartmentalized that side of me because I was like, ‘I have a job to do. I have a job to do, and the worst thing that I can do right now is be a fan. I’m not a fan. I’m a coworker.’ As ridiculous as that sounds, or as ridiculous as it sounded to me at the time, I was like, ‘No. I have to treat these people as my equals, even though I’m literally like a little boy right now.’”

“Avengers: Doomsday” opens in theaters Dec. 18, 2026 from Disney.

  • Simu Liu Slams Studios for the “Backslide” of Asian Representation in Hollywood: “F***ing Appalling”

    [ad_1]

Simu Liu isn’t holding back on his criticism of what he describes as a “backslide” of Asian representation in Hollywood.

The actor shared his thoughts on Threads on Friday, responding to a post asking for Hollywood to put more Asian men in romantic lead roles.

“Put some Asians in literally anything right now,” Liu responded. ‘The amount of backslide in our representation onscreen is f**king appalling. studios think we’re ‘risky.’”

The Barbie star went on to highlight several movies released in recent years that center on the Asian experience — MinariThe FarewellPast LivesEverything Everywhere All at OnceCrazy Rich Asians, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (in which Liu starred) — adding, “Every single one [was] a financial success.”

“No Asian actor has ever lost a studio even close to 100 million dollars but a white dude will lose 200 million TWICE and roll right into the next tentpole lead,” he continued. “We’re fighting a deeply prejudiced system. and most days it SUCKS.”

The Threads post that Liu was responding to also included comments from Manny Jacinto, who recently starred as Lindsay Lohan’s onscreen love interest in Freakier Friday. While some fans pleaded for Jacinto to star in more rom-coms after seeing the movie, he previously told ScreenRant that it seemed many creatives in Hollywood had other ideas, as he’s mostly been “getting dad roles, or dad auditions” since.

While the overall percentage of Asian characters on screen has increased from 2007 to 2024, those gains were wiped out between 2023 and 2024, according to USC’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative’s diversity report of movies, which was released in August 2025. The percentage of speaking characters of Asian descent decreased from 18.4 percent in 2023 to 13.5 percent in 2024. However, the report found that there were significantly more white characters on screen in 2024 (63.6 percent) than in 2023 (55.7 percent).

Liu also responded to claims made by producer Rachel Tan about her experience trying to cast Worth the Wait. “They gave me a list of white guys we could cast. If we could give one of the roles to them, we could get funded,” Tan previously told Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times.

“Spoken to countless directors who have corroborated this,” he added on Threads. “Studios give a list and as of now, all the names are white with maybe ONE bipoc name that is tossed in there so they cover their own asses. and unfortunately that name is never Asian.”

  • Simu Liu Says the ‘Backslide’ of Asian Representation in Hollywood Is ‘F—ing Appalling’: ‘Studios Think We Are Risky’

    [ad_1]

Simu Liu took to Threads on Sunday to post a fiery message about the “backslide” of Asian representation in Hollywood. In the post, he included social media reports about Asian actors struggling to find fulfilling roles.

“Put some Asians in literally anything right now,” he wrote. “The amount of backslide in our representation onscreen is fucking appalling. Studios think we are risky.”

Despite this perceived risk, Liu listed several films starring Asian actors that were critical successes, including “Minari,” “Farewell,” “Past Lives,” “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” “Crazy Rich Asians” and his Marvel tentpole “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”

He added, “Every single one a financial success. No Asian actor has ever lost a studio even close to 100 million dollars but a white dude will lose 200 million TWICE and roll right into the next tentpole lead.
We’re fighting a deeply prejudiced system. And most days it SUCKS.”

Liu has a history of being vocal on social media, especially when it comes to speaking out against right-leaning politics. He told Variety in a recent interview that he “should probably be more scared” of backlash, but his appetite to speak his mind and stand up for what he believes often overcomes his fears.

“I just feel like there’s something about the internet that makes people just crazy,” Liu said. “There’s something about the publicness of it and where people love being the guy to put someone else down [or] put an entire group of people down. I am so not for that energy.”

  • Simu Liu Calls Out Hollywood For Lack Of Representation Of Asian Actors: “We’re Fighting A Deeply Prejudiced System”

    [ad_1]

Simu Liu is calling out the Hollywood industry for the lack of visibility of Asian actors in cinema.

In a social media post, the star of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings shared his thoughts on the lack of representation of his community.

“Put some asians in literally anything right now. the amount of backslide in our representation onscreen is f**king appalling,” Liu shared on Threads. “Studios think we’re risky.”

Liu shared his view on the industry after reading a post calling for more Asian men to be cast in romantic lead roles. The actor pointed to titles like Minari, Farewell, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Crazy Rich Asians and his own Marvel movie as examples of films that did well in the box office.

“Every single one a financial success,” Liu added. “No asian actor has ever lost a studio even close to 100 million dollars but a white dude will lose 200 million TWICE and roll right into the next tentpole lead.
we’re fighting a deeply prejudiced system. and most days it SUCKS.”

This is not the first time Liu has called out the lack of representation of Asian actors in Hollywood. In 2023, he replied to an article that noted he was getting “the bulk of Asian make roles.”

Liu replied to the Facebook post saying, “Way to attempt to put us against one another. What ‘bulk’ of roles are you referring to? Are there movies I’m in that I’m not aware of? Do you really think that there is a quota of ‘Asian male roles’ that is a zero sum game? Every thing I have taken post Shang-Chi was not written Asian. We’ve been able to reshape stories to get more representation onscreen. Get your facts straight.”

  • Avengers: Doomsday’s Simu Liu Announces Filming Wrap With Sizzling Photos

    [ad_1]

A new social media post from Avengers: Doomsday star Simu Liu has surfaced following the film’s production wrap. The crossover epic will bring back Shang-Chi for his first on-screen appearance since 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Avengers: Doomsday’s Simu Liu posts photos post filming wrap

Simu Liu posted two shirtless photos on X (formerly Twitter) on September 23, 2025, with the caption “wrapped.” The images, one showing him by a sunset view and another in sunglasses under direct sunlight, marked the end of his work on Avengers: Doomsday. The post reached over 238,000 views within hours.

Liu, who first entered the MCU in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has kept fans updated sparingly about his Marvel projects. A few days ago, he shared an Instagram Story selfie in front of a costume rack, where a labeled bag reading “15. Shang-Chi” confirmed his wardrobe for the upcoming ensemble. The bag concealed the design, indicating that Marvel Studios is keeping Shang-Chi’s new look under wraps until closer to release.

Simu Liu will reprise his role as Shang-Chi with upgrades expected that expand on his dragon-scale suit from 2021. At the end of his solo film, Shang-Chi joined Wong, Captain Marvel, and Bruce Banner, which set up his integration with the Avengers. Reports note that the Ten Rings could function as a critical MacGuffin in Doomsday’s plot, along with Ms. Marvel’s bangles.

Avengers: Doomsday will bring together characters from across Marvel properties, including the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and New Avengers. Robert Downey Jr. will return in a new role as Doctor Doom, who threatens the multiverse. Simu Liu stands among dozens of confirmed returning heroes ready to confront Doom’s challenge.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed the 2021 Shang-Chi movie, was initially supposed to direct Avengers 5 before Marvel reassigned leadership, but the studio kept Liu in the cast. Marvel Studios will release Avengers: Doomsday in theaters on December 18, 2026.

2023 Juno Awards Highlights: Topless Protester Gatecrashes Stage, Simu Liu Cheats In Opening Monologue & More

    [ad_1]

    By Melissa Romualdi.

Another Juno Awards, another show for the books.

From unscripted moments to historic performances, this year’s ceremony had a number of highlights that kept audiences entertained throughout the entire show.

    Take a look:

    Topless Protester interrupts Avril Lavigne

Beginning with this totally unexpected moment when a topless woman crashed the Junos stage, Avril Lavigne didn’t hold back.

“Get the f**k off, b***h,” the singer cursed before security quickly escorted the woman off the stage.

    Simu Liu And AI

From the very beginning, Simu Liu had us hooked, making audiences laugh when he used AI to help him create his opening monologue. Technology at its finest!

    Fanboy Simu Liu

Later on in the show, Liu proved he’s a triple threat when he showed off his impressive singing and dancing skills, performing a medley of Lavigne’s greatest hits.

    Punjabis In The House

History was made during this year’s broadcasted ceremony when Indo-Canadian singer AP Dhillon gave the first ever Punjabi performance at the show.

    Simu Liu’s Teacher Disowns Him

Another unexpected moment occurred when a pre-recorded message from Liu’s former teacher, Mrs. K, played onstage, only for everyone to find out that he wasn’t exactly the greatest student.

Simu’s teacher totally disowned (and destroyed) him: “You were always skipping class and playing games in cafeteria with your friends. Stop telling people that I’m your teacher, it makes me look bad.”

    The Weeknd No-Show

Elsewhere, the Weeknd, who now has the second most Junos of any artist in history, was booed by audience members who were bummed out that he was a no show.

    A Tweet From Trudeau

Lastly, ahead of the big show, Canada’s Prime Minister took to Twitter to offer our talented Canadian artists support, wishing them nothing but good luck. Thanks JT!

Some of Canada’s top music talents are headed to the Juno Awards in Edmonton this weekend.

The annual celebration of homegrown music takes place over two nights in Alberta’s capital, with pop singer the Weeknd leading the nominees with six, though he’s not expected to attend.

READ MORE: 2023 Juno Awards nominations: The Weeknd leads the pack with 6

Most of the trophies will be handed out Saturday at a gala dinner for the music industry. The main show airs Monday on television — a shift from the Junos’ usual Sunday night slot in order to avoid overlapping with the Oscars.

Kim’s Convenience star Simu Liu returns as host of the Junos broadcast, where a handful of marquee awards will be handed out, alongside performances from Jessie Reyez, Tenille Townes and a 50th anniversary tribute to Canadian hip-hop.

Here are five other things to watch for on Junos weekend:

    THE LEADERS

Among his six nominations, Toronto hitmaker the Weeknd is up for album of the year for Dawn FM, single of the year for “Sacrifice” and artist of the year.

But he’s only one of many familiar artists in top contention. Calgary newcomer Tate McRae and Napanee, Ont., pop princess Avril Lavigne are tied with five nods each.

They will compete against each other in four of those categories — single, album, pop album and fan choice.

    THE TRIFECTA

Threes, threes, threes across the board! Rarely do the connections align in the way they have for three Juno contenders this year.

Rising Montreal producers Banx and Ranx hold three nominations, one of which they share with collaborator Preston Pablo on “Flowers Need Rain,” up for single of the year.

Pablo is a three-time nominee himself, as is Montreal pop newcomer Reve who earned the accolades in part for her work with Banx and Ranx in the studio.

All three of them will connect when they perform a medley together on the broadcast.

    THE PERFORMERS

An eclectic selection of other artists is booked to play Monday’s big show, including Oji-Cree singer-songwriter Aysanabee, hard rockers Alexisonfire, Punjabi-Canadian viral rapper AP Dhillon and Nashville-based country singer Tenille Townes.

But even with a stacked lineup, one question lingers: will host Simu Liu sing again? Last year, the Marvel star slipped on a guitar for a parody rendition of Lavigne’s hit “Complicated.”

Juno organizers won’t say if viewers can expect an encore.

    THE HALL OF FAME

Nickelback will remind us of their legendary status when the rockers are inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by Ryan Reynolds.

The actor will appear on Monday’s broadcast in a pre-recorded video message to the band while Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid offers an assist in person.

The Hanna, Alta., natives will then launch into an explosive medley of their greatest hits.

On Saturday, Chad Kroeger and his buddies could walk away winners too as they hold their 38th career nomination for Get Rollin’ in the rock album of the year category.

    JOEL WOOD VS. NORTHERN CREE

Saturday night is also where one of the friendliest of possible Juno showdowns will take place. Cree musician Joel Wood competes against his own Alberta Indigenous singing group Northern Cree in the traditional Indigenous artist or group of the year category.

Wood is nominated for his album Mikwanak Kamosakinat, while Northern Cree is in the running for Oskimacitahowin: A New Beginning.

Joel’s father Steve Wood, another member in Northern Cree, told The Canadian Press it’s “absolutely wonderful” to see both albums vie for a win in the same category.

    We Are Entering Barbie’s World

    [ad_1]

Our beloved childhood friend and icon – Barbie – is coming to life. The first teaser trailer of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was released today…and I already feel a surge of tremendous excitement

    .

Expect a star-studded cast featuring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, and Will Ferrell. From there, it’s all up to Greta – the groundbreaking director who gave us stellar films like Ladybird and Little Women.

This romantic comedy has been years in the making. It was originally reported that a Barbie movie was in the works way back in 2009. Then a decade later, we heard that the lovely Margot Robbie would play Barbie…and it wasn’t revealed until 2022 that Ryan Gosling was playing Ken and who the rest of the cast would be. Thankfully, the movie will finally premiere on July 21, 2023 to Barbie lovers and cinema fans the world over.

The teaser reveals a cluster of little girls – wearing old-fashioned pinafores and drab frocks. They’re having a tea party with their baby dolls in the hills and valleys of a vast orange desert. Richard Strauss’ Thus Sprach Zarathustra provides an ominous soundscape. It is one truly creepy mise-en-scène and a clear reference to 2001: Space Odyssey.

Then the monolithic Barbie is revealed. She stands 20-feet tall, towering above the kids and winking cheekily. And the girls go insane – they smash their babydolls’ skulls in, slam themagainst an outcropping of rocks, destroying their once-cherished dollies. And then we flip to the magical, mesmerizing world of Barbie. Thus demonstrating that Gerwig will take this film far beyond our expectations.

Rumors of Dua Lipa’s involvement in the film have started to swirl…after reports that the singer would be in the film months ago, it appears the official Barbie movie Instagram account has followed her in the recent hours. A new beau in Jack Harlow and a film debut? It really is Dua’s world.

This movie’s already inspired the hot pink Barbie-core trend and it’s not even out yet…the cultural impact is about to shift our cosmos. Brace yourselves, it’s about to become Barbie’s world.

Recently, Jennifer Lopez was photographed walking out of the Winter Garden theater hand-in-hand with Ben Affleck, wearing a (yes!) Christmas sweater. She styled it up with shorts and high slit Sylvia pleated organza tulle skirt. JLo’s sweater is a part of Ralph Lauren’s Fair Isle cashmere sweater collection. She emboldened the look with a retro style belt and high platform heels!

  • Rihanna, Johnny Depp and Savage X Fenty Vol. 4

Rihanna, Johnny Depp and Savage X Fenty Vol. 4

    [ad_1]

Although Rihanna has seemingly side-stepped attempts at cancelling her existence after reports revealed that Johnny Depp would be in the Vol. 4 edition of the Savage X Fenty fashion show, some will still find it difficult to stomach Depp’s appearance. Which is somewhat ironic considering how much the public relished the schadenfreude of lambasting Amber Heard for being a “liar and a fraud” during the Depp v. Heard defamation trial that concluded back in June of this year. When, suddenly, Depp looked all shiny and new (read: employable) again upon winning the trial. It didn’t take long, however, for many to understand that vilifying Heard was largely to the benefit of misogynists (which, sadly, also includes many women).

Ones who continue to wield this case as a key example of women being “cunts” not to be trusted or believed. And, to be clear, those touting Depp v. Heard as a “much-needed” beacon of light for men who are abused by women, one ought to consider that a five-foot-eight, one hundred sixty(-plus)-pound man can’t really get all that “hurt” (at least not without weaponry) by someone of Heard’s stature. This isn’t to say women aren’t capable of kicking an ass when necessary, it’s just that one gets the impression Heard was engaging in the same type of maneuvers as Katie (Soleil Moon Frye) in that Friends episode, “The One with the Girl Who Hits Joey”—wherein Joey (Matt LeBlanc) keeps insisting Katie punches him too hard when doing it “playfully.” A claim that, what a surprise, gets validated in Joey’s favor.

In any event, let’s rewind to 2009, when Rihanna herself was the victim of an abusive relationship (and yes, regardless of what people say, Depp was abusive toward Heard, even if “only” verbally…since the physical abuse revealed wasn’t deemed “enough”). Her then-boyfriend, Chris Brown, smacked the shit out of her to such a degree that she couldn’t even pretend to carry on for a scheduled appearance at the Grammys. Cut to 2012-2013, when Rihanna decided to give Brown another chance (resulting in a very uncomfortable musical collaboration on Unapologetic called “Nobody’s Business”). In many ways, that’s what putting Depp in Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 feels like. Another conduit through which to “forgive.” Though, of course, Rihanna apologists would like to say that being a “true” survivor of domestic abuse, she can recognize who has actually been an abuser versus who has suffered abuse. With some (okay, many) saying Depp is the real victim in the scenario. In other words, whatever one needs to tell themselves in order to “comfortably” watch Depp participating in new projects.

Brief though this particular appearance from Depp may be, perhaps the most disturbing element about it is the fact that Rihanna opted to soundtrack his arrival to Outkast’s “So Fresh, So Clean.” For those who might have forgotten the arrogant, “dapper” lyrics, they boast, “Ain’t nobody dope as me/I’m just so fresh and clean/Don’t you think I’m so sexy?/I’m just so fresh and clean.” Obviously, Depp is anything but these two descriptors, which is why Rihanna trying to help “rebrand” him as such feels so cringe. The placement of his “cameo” also seems tailored in such a way as to make viewers largely gloss over it, as it comes neither too close to the beginning nor near the end. Instead, Rihanna wastes no time in announcing that she’s the star of the show as she makes her grand entrance to the very problematic ASAP Rocky song, “D.M.B.” (in case you couldn’t guess, the abbreviation stands for “dats my bitch” or, if you must, “DAT$ MAH B!*$H”). In addition to such gross (and, yes, misogynistic) lyrics as, “Roll my blunt, fill my cup, be my bitch, rub my gut/Rub yo’ butt, be my slut, be my cunt, yeah, so what?,” ASAP also declares, “Bad girls wanna have fun.” This being repeated in remix form as Rihanna does her “dance”/strut against the forest tableau that takes up most of the show. Through this not-so-subtle act of including the theoretically “Bonnie and Clyde”-oriented tone from the outset, Rihanna makes it clear, once again, what her taste in men tends to favor (extending toward none other than Depp).

With that performance out of the way, Rihanna allows room for Precious Lee, who models one of many patterns to the tune of “Lick It N Split” by Zebra Katz and Shygirl. Upon Precious being thrust up against a tree, the song then transitions to the chaotic “Crazy” by Doechii. Men running through the forest with women slung under over their backs seems, evidently, the best way to match this track’s energy. And yet, it also offers more symbolism about what appears to be Rihanna’s own internalized sense of misogyny as women come across as being utterly disposable playthings in such a scene. The pendulum of that sentiment, however, shifts when Missy Elliott’s “Hot Boyz” starts to play—or rather, the sentiment would shift if Damson Idris didn’t materialize in purple pajamas at the center of a group of harem-like women. For “Hot Boyz,” the inverse permutation would be required, with a woman at the center of multiple men instead.

The intent to make every scene of the spectacle present itself as visceral and exotic persists with Anitta. And it only takes about six minutes for the sex-positive Brazilian pop singer to offer her ass to the camera as she sings “Practice” (usually featuring another ASAP, Ferg). The song in question undeniably includes the ideal lyrics for promoting lingerie: “We don’t make babies, but we practice.” She then segues into “Envolver” before more animation (complete with a woman being “enfolded” into a tree) appears to transition us into the next batch of designs to parade. This time, with Cara Delevingne at the center of it all as Nas’ “Oochie Wally” fades into 50 Cent’s “Just A Lil Bit.” It’s here that Taraji P. Henson then leads a line of cavorting women with interconnecting braids (it’s all very elaborate).

Don Toliver subsequently enters into the “majestic forest” with a performance of “Take Your Time,” another lingerie-appropriate track that urges, “Let’s do it baby/Let’s do it tonight/Take me to your crib and we can party all night.” Like Anitta, Toliver also gets to promote two songs, opting for “Way Bigger” as the second one, during which he provides more salacious lyrics tailored to shilling bras and panties. Case in point, “With a bad bitch through the whole pandemic/Lemme hit the hole through the whole ninth inning/Eatin’ and beatin’ the whole night swimmin’.” And this, unfortunately, is what takes us to the Depp part of the show. Which comes at a strategic moment in that Rihanna has already stacked the “fashion parade” with plenty of other cameos, including Taylour Paige, who offers a very memorable monologue before sauntering in “bad bitch mode” to Dave featuring Stormzy’s “Clash.”

Following that, at the twenty-minute mark (halfway through it all), Depp is “blessed” with his screen time. As previously mentioned, Rihanna ill-advisedly opted to soundtrack Depp’s entrance with Outkast’s “So Fresh So Clean”—and yes, even Depp has a look on his face that seems to say, “What am I doing here?” After he does a reluctant “catwalk” through the forest and concludes with hugging a tree (perhaps dendrophilia is his latest flame), another animation sequence arrives. One that fittingly displays some kind of rupture in the universe—this being precisely what has happened with the verdict of the Depp v. Heard trial. After we’re shown the formation of some crystals in cartoon form that become the real-life backdrop of the next set, the scene gives way to a portion of Vol. 4 that does a better job of accenting bombastic maquillage than it does lingerie.

The mood shifts thanks to more animation that provides a cartoon version of Maxwell underwater trying to get his hands on a yellow ball that bursts as he’s then sucked from one hole into another (interpret that metaphor how you will). He then emerges from the next water realm inside that very yellow ball now scaled to a far more massive size. It then shoots up into the sky like a comet so that the real Maxwell can serve as the penultimate performer (of “Whenever, Wherever, Whatever”) amid a backdrop of some very phallic cacti.

The seductive, “drop them panties” attitude continues with Janet Jackson’s “Would You Mind” as a dancer very orgasmically quivers right when Janet utters that very word (“quiver”). Afterward, Jackson’s “Throb” leads us into one of the most flagrantly suggestive animation sequences involving rocket ships and explosions. The wildin’ out choreography continues almost as a means to distract from how this season’s collection isn’t quite as impressive as the one in Vol. 3 (replete with Busta Rhymes songs, to boot). Nonetheless, the choreography is admittedly fire—and continues to be as DJ Blue’s “Look Like You,” Konshens and J Capri’s “Pull Up to Mi Bumper” and Oxlade’s “Ku Lo Sa” play before Burna Boy rounds out the show with, what else, “Last Last” (and “It’s Plenty”).

The “yellow” segment comprises the finale, featuring Lilly Singh as the initial “centerpiece” of the motif. Yellow, incidentally, representing the color of cowardice—let the viewer be the judge of whether or not Rihanna is either “brave” or cowardly for certain casting decisions in this edition…

For the conclusion, Rihanna opts to close the show with SOPHIE’s “Not Okay” (interpolated with Omarion’s “Touch”). Almost like a subconscious admission of the fact that what she’s done is, well, not okay. And while she might consider herself a champion of artistic freedom or some such, it’s rather a shame that what is actually a very beautifully-presented show should be besmirched with the mark of Depp’s presence. Providing another open invitation for abusers to reemerge once they’re either 1) able to flip the switch on the woman that “falsely accused” them or 2) enough time passes for the public memory to be “just hazy enough” to forget. Though it would take a lot of weed to create the haze necessary to forget about Depp declaring to Heard, “I pushed you” or “I headbutted you in the fucking forehead. That doesn’t break a nose.” Which, honestly, is the last image one wants to have in their head during “sexy time” (not to mention the automatic correlation with Depp to a shit on the bed).

Simu Liu is giving generously to make sure no American goes hungry.

The star attended the BoxLunch Gala honouring Feeding America at City Market Social House in Los Angeles on Wednesday as a presenter. He presented a $100,000 cheque from BoxLunch to Casey Marsh – the Chief Development Officer for Feeding America, but surprised audiences with a donation of his own.

Hilariously, Liu joked he initially thought BoxLunch was a sandwich shop before discovering it supported retail stories to give back to their local communities.

“BoxLunch has an impact on people across the entire United States through the donations each retail store makes to its local community, and its donations to Feeding America’s nationwide efforts,” he shared. “Now I am thrilled to be a part of that. I couldn’t let the opportunity to help make a difference as the new Giving Ambassador pass so I felt moved and honored to match and double the Boxlunch Donation and make it $200,000!”

Steve Vranes, CEO at BoxLunch, praised Liu and the efforts of Feeding America. He said, “It is incredible to have the support of Simu as our Giving Ambassador as we continue to bring awareness to the missions of BoxLunch and Feeding America. Tonight was a powerful celebration of what we have done thus far, and it was an inspiration for what we can do going-forward.”

I Want The 2022 Savage x Fenty Show Look

    [ad_1]

It’s already been a busy year for Ri-Ri. With her new singles for the Wakanda Forever soundtrack releasing, an impending album, and a Super Bowl halftime show on the horizon, she’s non-stop. Following suit, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Fashion Show debuted on Amazon Prime last night and it was every bit as showstopping as you’d expect.

It’s not your traditional fashion show with models gliding down runways to a crowd of high-profile names in fashion; it’s a full on production. No crowd was involved whatsoever, but hundreds of models and big names in both the music, fashion, and film industries showed off the new Savage collection.

The show begins with the Fenty Queen herself, wordlessly summoning everyone to pay attention – the show has begun. In partnership with Amazon, every look was linked to the screen as they were shown, giving you instant access to purchase the Fenty set. Seamlessly transitioning from look to look, the beats change and the focus turns to a different model.

What perhaps tainted the night was the inclusion of Johnny Depp, whose addition struck controversy. It indeed begs the question, why include a controversial fallen star? It somehow overshadowed the entire event without even trying.

While the event is the antithesis of the old Victoria’s Secret wings and glitz, Rihanna’s spin was edgier and cinematic. You can view her new collection on the Savage x Fenty website, but for now, here are my faves:

    1. Lineup Pocket Legging
    2. Hotline Medium Impact Sports Bra
    3. Velvet Vixen Unlined Balconette Bra
    4. Going Platinum Long Robe
    5. Hotline Jumpsuit
