The driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Silver Spring, Maryland, earlier this month has been arrested.

On Wednesday, Montgomery County police took 42-year-old Gilver Yuviny Zelaya Diaz into custody for his involvement in a hit-and-run collision that left Jacques Price, 26, dead on April 8.

Zelaya Diaz is charged with failure to return and remain on the scene of an accident involving a death.

The crash occurred just after midnight on Monday, April 8, when Price was riding a skateboard in the roadway on Veirs Mill Road and was hit by a white Acura TL, also traveling westbound. The driver then fled the scene.

The car was found days later in the driveway of Zelaya Diaz’s Silver Spring home and the registration was traced back to him, according to police.

The incident was one of two car crashes that same week involving a white Acura.

A Silver Spring, Maryland, man is dead after being hit by two vehicles — including one that did not stop — as he walked near an intersection in Montgomery County on Friday night, police said.

According to police, a Honda Odyssey mounted the curb “for unknown reasons” while traveling westbound on Randolph Road near the intersection of Kimblewick Drive shortly after 10 p.m., striking 52-year-old Ronaldo Franzese and causing him to “fall into the roadway.”

A white, four-door Acura then hit Franzese, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Acura “fled the scene without rendering aid” to Franzese, and was seen traveling north on New Hampshire Avenue and then west on Randolph Road, according to police.

“The Acura may be a white 2009-2012 Acura TL, which is missing a fender line and may have additional damage on the front end, near the ground,” police said in a release.

Burglars hit the U.S. Senate campaign office of Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in Silver Spring, officials said Friday.

Burglars hit the U.S. Senate campaign office of Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in Silver Spring, Maryland, officials said Friday.

The burglary was found by a field office staffer when they got to work around 11:15 a.m.

They found their desk “disheveled” with “campaign items thrown in the trash, personal belongings stolen, and his closed and sealed leather notebook containing sensitive campaign information was untied and had been opened,” according to a release.

“I am disappointed to see that our office seemed to be targeted. Someone forced their way in, went through sensitive material, threw some of our campaign shirts in the trash and stole personal items from a staff member,” Alsobrooks said in a statement.

“What I will say is that this will not deter us and it only strengthens our resolve to run the kind of uplifting campaign we’ve been running since day one.”

Alsobrooks’ office was the only one burgled. According to the release, surveillance cameras are being installed.
