Aftab Poonawala and Shraddha Walker, who stayed at a hotel in Tosh village near Kasol of Himachal Pradesh from 6 to 8 April, had made the payment together, according to transaction details that have surfaced now.

The police suspect that Aftab, who allegedly killed his live-in partner Shraddha in Delhi’s Chattarpur on May 18, had hatched the plan during their trip to Himachal, made just a month before the gruesome crime.

The cops believe that it is very much possible that Aftab may have planned the killing in Kasol. They are now scanning the registers of every hotel in Kasol and Tosh. Tosh village is 30 kms from Kasol.

Aftab and Shraddha had stayed at White Lots hotel in Tosh village of Himachal. They checked in on April 6 and went for trekking the next day to Kutla. They returned on April 8 and made the payment to hotel owner Kamal Chand.

The hotel owner did not make any entry in the register but Aftab had given him his Aadhaar card. Shraddha had paid Rs 870 while Aftab made Rs 720. They used to make payments together. Chand, the owner of the hotel, said that he did not feel Shradhha was scared.

Aftab allegedly killed Shraddha, a native of Mumbai’s Vasai, in his rented apartment on May 18 and chopped her body into 35 pieces. Earlier this week, the police found the five knives that Aftab used to kill Shraddha.

News agency ANI recently reported that Aaftab told the police that multiple weapons were used to dismember Shraddha’s body. In the last few days, the police have recovered five large knives, which have been sent to the forensics team for investigation, the report said citing sources.

Aaftab and Shraddha, who met on a dating site – Bumble, were in a relationship and moved in together to a rented apartment in Chhatarpur. Shraddha’s father Vikas Walker filed a case on November 10 after he learned that his daughter’s friends were not able to connect with her. The case was first filed with the Mumbai Police, which asked the Delhi Police to probe as they were living in the city.

  • Shraddha Walkar murder case: Polygraph test on Aaftab ends, he may undergo narco analysis

Shraddha Walkar murder case: Polygraph test on Aaftab ends, he may undergo narco analysis

    [ad_1]

Aaftab Ameen Poonawala, the prime accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, on Friday, underwent a marathon polygraph test for another day. But cops said that the test could not be completed. This comes as Aaftab’s police custody has also ended on Friday even as the investigation in the case is on.

According to the officials, the polygraph test, which lasted for nearly three hours at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), couldn’t be completed on Friday as Aaftab was unwell. Aaftab had undergone a marathon polygraph test of nearly eight hours on Thursday.

Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Zone II, said, “Polygraph test of the accused Aaftab in Mehrauli police station case FIR No 659/22 under section 365/302/201 IPC could not be held today.”

They further added that he will undergo a medical examination today. However, officials at the facility also revealed that they found it difficult to record his statements as he was not well. A team of FSL officers is likely to hand over the report to Delhi Police in a day or two.

According to the experts, Aaftab had co-operated with the investigators to some extent but remained largely evasive. He may undergo a narco analysis test if reports reek of discrepancies. A senior FSL official said all sessions related to the test have been completed, including the pre, main and post-stages of the procedure.

The official said “Our forensic experts will analyse the recordings and make a report accordingly. He (Aaftab) can be called again if the experts are not satisfied with the report. Based on the outcome of the report, a decision will be taken on conducting narco analysis which can be carried out even if he is sent to judicial custody.”

A series of questions related to the Shraddha Walkar murder case were asked in the polygraph test. Some of the questions asked in the test were the sequences of events that led to the murder, the accused’s relationship with Walkar, reason for their strained relationship, place where he dumped the body parts, type of weapon used, among others.

As per the official, these questions were intended to check for discrepancies in his statement. He further added that the results will be handed over to the investigators within two-three days.

Aaftab had allegedly strangled his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and cut her body into 35 pieces, before dumping them across the national capital and surrounding areas. Reportedly, he kept it in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli before dumping those over several days past midnight.

The cops are yet to find the victim’s skull and remaining body parts as well as the weapon used to dismember the body.

Aftab was restless and aggressive, says surgeon who treated him

Aftab Amin Poonawalla, who allegedly murdered his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, was restless and aggressive while talking, a surgeon who treated him in May revealed on Tuesday. Aftab had allegedly strangulated Walker and chopped her into 35 pieces on May 18, but kept it a secret till early November.

Dr Anil Singh said that Aftab visited him in May when needed stitches on his right forearm. “He was restless, and aggressive while talking. When asked he told he sustained an injury while cutting fruits, and left after taking a prescription,” Singh said while speaking to the news agency ANI.

Shraddha, a resident of Mumbai’s Vasai, was in a relationship with Aftab. However, her family did not approve of the relationship so she left her home to live with Poonawala. In May, they shifted to Delhi.

Reports say that Aftab had assaulted Shraddha many times. Shraddha’s friends claim that she had almost decided to quit the relationship but somehow could not.

The gruesome murder came to light earlier this week when the Delhi Police arrested Poonawala based on a case filed by Shraddha’s father Vikas Walker in Mumbai. According to the police, Poonawala allegedly strangulated Shraddha after a fight. He then moved her body from the bathroom to the kitchen and then chopped her into 35 pieces.

The police said that he bought a 300-liter fridge to store the parts. For the next 16 days, he went out around 2 am and disposed of the parts one by one at different spots near Mehrauli jungle.

News agency ANI citing police sources said only one weapon was used to chop Shraddha’s body parts. Aftab had used a mini saw to chop off the body parts, the report said. The sources said that the mini saw was yet to be recovered. Aftab broke down after the police grilled him when he gave confusing timelines of when Shraddha left him.

The Delhi Police sources also told the news agency that one common friend of Aftab and Shraddha has been called for questioning. This is the friend who had intimated Shraddha’s father about her going incommunicado.
