Shraddha Walkar murder case: Polygraph test on Aaftab ends, he may undergo narco analysis

Aaftab Ameen Poonawala, the prime accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, on Friday, underwent a marathon polygraph test for another day. But cops said that the test could not be completed. This comes as Aaftab’s police custody has also ended on Friday even as the investigation in the case is on.

According to the officials, the polygraph test, which lasted for nearly three hours at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), couldn’t be completed on Friday as Aaftab was unwell. Aaftab had undergone a marathon polygraph test of nearly eight hours on Thursday.

Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Zone II, said, “Polygraph test of the accused Aaftab in Mehrauli police station case FIR No 659/22 under section 365/302/201 IPC could not be held today.”

They further added that he will undergo a medical examination today. However, officials at the facility also revealed that they found it difficult to record his statements as he was not well. A team of FSL officers is likely to hand over the report to Delhi Police in a day or two.

According to the experts, Aaftab had co-operated with the investigators to some extent but remained largely evasive. He may undergo a narco analysis test if reports reek of discrepancies. A senior FSL official said all sessions related to the test have been completed, including the pre, main and post-stages of the procedure.

The official said “Our forensic experts will analyse the recordings and make a report accordingly. He (Aaftab) can be called again if the experts are not satisfied with the report. Based on the outcome of the report, a decision will be taken on conducting narco analysis which can be carried out even if he is sent to judicial custody.”

A series of questions related to the Shraddha Walkar murder case were asked in the polygraph test. Some of the questions asked in the test were the sequences of events that led to the murder, the accused’s relationship with Walkar, reason for their strained relationship, place where he dumped the body parts, type of weapon used, among others.

As per the official, these questions were intended to check for discrepancies in his statement. He further added that the results will be handed over to the investigators within two-three days.

Aaftab had allegedly strangled his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and cut her body into 35 pieces, before dumping them across the national capital and surrounding areas. Reportedly, he kept it in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli before dumping those over several days past midnight.

The cops are yet to find the victim’s skull and remaining body parts as well as the weapon used to dismember the body.

Shraddha murder case: As grim details keep emerging in the Mehrauli murder case, a letter by the victim, Shraddha Walkar, which she wrote to the Tulinj police station in Mumbai on November 23, 2020, has resurfaced. She stated in this letter that Aftab Poonawala used to scare her and blackmail her. He had also threatened her that he would kill her, cut her body in pieces and throw it away.

She stated in the letter that he has been hitting her since as long as six months but she does not have the courage to approach the police. The letter accessed by the news agency ANI further mentioned that Poonawala’s parents were aware of the physical abuse and the fact that he tried to kill Walkar.

She said, “I lived with him till date as we were supposed to get married anytime soon and had the blessings of his family. Henceforth, I am not willing to live with him so any kind of physical damage should be considered coming from him as he has been blackmailing me to kill me or hurt me whenever he sees me anywhere.”

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that there would be an investigation into why the Maharashtra police took no action on Shraddha’s letter in 2020. He added maybe Walkar’s life could have been saved if authorities took action in a timebound manner.

DCP Suhas Bavache of the Mira Bhayandar- Vasai Virar (MBVV) Commissionerate said that Shraddha stated in her written statement that the issues between herself and Poonawala were resolved.

Bavache mentioned, “Whatever necessary action had to be taken in that matter was done by the police at that time. The application that was given by the complainant was also investigated. After the investigation, the complainant herself gave a written statement that there is no dispute. Her friend’s parents also cajoled her to resolve the dispute. She gave the written statement and after that the case was closed.”

Aaftab has been accused of strangling and killing Shraddha Walkar on May 18 this year. He also put the chopped body parts in a 300-litre fridge before disposing of them. Both of them met on a dating app and moved into rented accommodation in Chhatarpur.

‘Body hurts’: Shraddha’s WhatsApp chats from 2020 reveal about physical abuse from Aaftab

    [ad_1]

Shraddha Walkar’s WhatsApp chats with co-workers from two years ago bring out startling revelations about how she was once beaten by her boyfriend Aftab Ameen Poonawala, who is now accused of killing her in Delhi. The physical abuse was so severe that she did not have the energy to get out of bed and eventually ended up in the hospital, she confessed.

According to WhatsApp chats, exclusively obtained by India Today, it has been revealed that Shraddha was seen telling her manager at the time, Karan Bhakki that due to severe beating by Aaftab her blood pressure has become low, which is why she was not able to get out of her bed.

The text’s timeline, November 24, 2020, is also consistent with a medical report from Shraddha’s hospitalisation on December 3, 2020 for “severe back pain, neck pain, and numbness in lower limb.”

Shraddha also mentioned an unnamed person in the text from 2020 and said, “I need to make sure he moves out today.”

On November 23, 2020, Shraddha sent another text in which she spoke about leaving her current residence. In addition, she said she would go to the police station and meet the “mahila mandal”. She added a picture of herself with facial injuries and said she would use it as documentation for a leave of absence from her job.

Shraddha’s former manager said that when the incident occurred in November 2020, he supported her and asked the mahila mandal to assist her.

Shraddha appears to have hid the cause of her incident-related injuries from her friends in a subsequent text message. Shraddha explained that she fractured her nose after “tripping while climbing the stairs” when asked what had happened.

Aftab, 28, and Shraddha, 26, both call centre workers, moved to Delhi in May. Four days later, after yet another argument about money and infidelity, he strangled her to death and then chopped up her body into 35 pieces, which he kept in a refrigerator and dumped in a jungle over the course of 18 days, according to police.

Her father, who hadn’t spoken to her since May 2021 because he disapproved of her interfaith (Hindu-Muslim) relationship with Aftab, went to the police after learning that she had not been in contact with them for months. This is how the crime was discovered over the past month.

Laxman Nadar, another friend of Shraddha’s, previously said in an interview with India Today that she and Aaftab would frequently argue and fight. “She once messaged me on WhatsApp and asked me to get him out of her house. She claimed that if she spent that night with him (Aaftab), he would murder her,” said Nadar.
