Transform your bathroom with a sleek frameless shower enclosure – Growing Family

    Collaborative post

Are you keen to give your bathroom a modern facelift? A frameless enclosure for your shower might be just what you need.

These enclosures are all about clean lines, sleek design, and creating an open, airy space. Gone are the days of bulky shower frames that take away from the beauty of your bathroom.

A frameless shower enclosure also adds a touch of elegance, making the space feel larger and more sophisticated. Installing a frameless design instantly modernises your bathroom, providing both functionality and a high-end, luxurious feel. Read on to find out why these enclosures are a game-changer for your bathroom makeover.

The allure of a frameless shower enclosure

Frameless shower enclosures bring modern luxury to any bathroom. With no bulky frames to interrupt the flow, the glass panels create an open, spacious feel. The sleek design is minimalistic yet striking, making the enclosure the centrepiece of your bathroom.

These enclosures don’t just look good: they feel luxurious every time you step inside. The absence of heavy hardware creates a floating effect, while the uninterrupted glass adds a seamless transition between wet and dry areas.

Maximising space and light with frameless designs

One of the best things about frameless shower enclosures is their ability to maximise both space and light. Clear glass panels allow light to flow freely, making even the smallest bathroom feel larger and more open. The absence of a metal frame eliminates visual clutter, keeping your bathroom design smooth and uninterrupted.

It’s a perfect solution for those seeking a more spacious atmosphere. By removing barriers, it also allows your bathroom design to shine through without any obstructions. The enclosure acts almost like an invisible partition, giving the space a light and airy feel.

Choosing the right frameless shower door: hinged or sliding?

When selecting a shower enclosure, the type of door you choose can make a big difference. Hinged doors swing outward, offering a wide entry. Sliding doors save space and are excellent for compact bathrooms.

Both options provide the same sleek look, so it all comes down to the layout of your space and your personal preference. Each design has its own functional and aesthetic appeal. For larger bathrooms, hinged doors provide a more dramatic entrance. Meanwhile, sliding doors offer a more streamlined look for smaller spaces.

Premium glass options for shower enclosures

The type of glass you choose can elevate the entire look of your bathroom. Opt for crystal-clear glass for a minimalist vibe, or choose frosted glass for more privacy while still maintaining a modern aesthetic.

You can also explore tinted or patterned glass for a unique, custom look. Each glass option gives your bathroom a different personality while maintaining that frameless elegance. Tinted glass, for instance, can add a subtle hint of colour. Frosted options, on the other hand, balance privacy with style.

Enhancing bathroom aesthetics with sleek hardware finishes

Hardware might seem like a small detail, but it can make a huge difference in the overall style of your bathroom. Polished chrome, matte black finishes or brushed nickel can all enhance the sleekness of the design.

The right hardware not only complements your bathroom’s existing features but also adds an extra touch of sophistication. Well-chosen finishes can tie together the look of the entire room. Opting for minimal hardware further emphasises the frameless design’s modern appeal.

Easy maintenance and durability of frameless enclosures

Frameless shower enclosures aren’t just beautiful – they’re incredibly easy to maintain. With fewer nooks and crannies where grime can collect, cleaning becomes much simpler. Tempered glass, typically used in these enclosures, is highly durable and resistant to shattering.

It’s a low-maintenance, high-impact solution that stays looking pristine with minimal effort. A simple squeegee can keep the glass sparkling between deep cleans. The smooth surface also resists stains and water spots better than framed designs.

Customisation options for unique bathroom layouts

No two bathrooms are the same, which is why frameless enclosures offer customisable options. Whether your bathroom has an unusual shape or you’re working with limited space, they can be tailored to fit.

You can choose from various glass sizes, hardware finishes, and door styles to create a shower that suits your layout perfectly. Custom options allow you to maximise your space without sacrificing style. From corner installations to expansive walk-ins, there’s a solution for every bathroom.

Eco-friendly benefits of tempered glass shower enclosures

Frameless enclosures made from tempered glass are not only stylish but also eco-friendly. Tempered glass is highly durable and can be recycled, which means it’s a sustainable choice for your home. Its long-lasting nature means you won’t have to replace it as often as other materials.

The durability of tempered glass also translates into fewer repairs, saving resources over time.

Frameless shower enclosures for small bathrooms

For small bathrooms, these structures can make a world of difference. The clean lines and clear glass create the illusion of more space, giving your bathroom a spacious feel.

Without bulky frames, the shower becomes an elegant, unobtrusive feature that enhances the room’s overall look without overpowering it. It also allows other features, like tiles or fixtures, to stand out. The glass practically disappears, helping the room feel less crowded and more organised.

    Installation considerations for frameless showers

Installing a frameless enclosure may require some extra thought. The precision involved means you’ll want to hire a professional to ensure everything fits perfectly. Proper installation ensures that the enclosure is watertight and safe, and it can also help prevent potential issues down the road.

The extra care taken during installation pays off in both beauty and functionality. Accurate measurement is key to avoid leaks and ensure stability. For the best results, always consult a specialist.

Tips for buying a frameless shower enclosure online

Shopping for a frameless enclosure online can be easy if you know what to look for. Start by measuring your space carefully and comparing your bathroom’s dimensions with the product specs. Look for high-quality tempered glass and durable hardware.

Check customer reviews for insight into the product’s durability and ease of installation. Be sure to choose a reputable seller to ensure you’re getting the best value for your money. Verify warranties and return policies before finalising your purchase. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to customer support for any clarifications.

A frameless shower enclosure is more than just a functional addition to your bathroom – it’s a statement piece. Its sleek design, durability, and customisable options make it a top choice for anyone looking to create a modern, elegant bathroom space. Whether your bathroom is large or small, frameless enclosures provide a timeless look that enhances the room without overwhelming it.

  • California’s next big storm: When and where will rain, snow and flooding hit?

California’s next big storm: When and where will rain, snow and flooding hit?

    [ad_1]

A major atmospheric river storm bringing heavy rains, high winds and significant snow barreled into northwestern California early Wednesday and is expected to move south across the state over the next 48 hours.

Statewide, officials are bracing for potential widespread flooding, dangerous travel in the mountains and even power outages.

The system is the first of back-to-back storms that forecasters say could cause perilous conditions through next week, depending on the severity, strength and speed of the storm systems.

This first storm is expected to be relatively fast-moving, dumping excessive rain and heavy snow primarily on Wednesday and Thursday before moving out of the area, a scenario officials hope will help minimize damage.

Here’s the latest on when Californians can expect to see the storm’s impact:

    Wednesday morning

After a dangerously windy night for much of the state’s northwest corner — and a high wind warning advisory remaining through 1 p.m. for much of the North Coast — showers began in Northern California early Wednesday.

Rainfall is expected to pick up throughout the day across the North Coast, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley, with much of the region under a flood watch through late Thursday or early Friday.

But dangerous winds remain a major concern, with the National Weather Service issuing a high-wind warning for much of the North Bay and Central Coast through Thursday afternoon.

“Given saturated soils, downed trees and resulting power outages are likely,” the National Weather Service’s Bay Area office warned on X.

In the northern Sierra Nevada and other high peaks above 6,000 feet, heavy snowfall is expected to begin Wednesday morning, with a winter storm warning in effect through at least Friday. As the storm develops, snow levels are expected to drop through the rest of the week and snowfall rates could reach up to 2 inches an hour, according to the weather service. Up to 3 feet of powder is possible at the highest peaks.

    Wednesday afternoon

As the storm moves south and east, much of the Sacramento Valley will enter a flood watch through at least Thursday evening, with forecasters warning of minor concerns, including ponding on roads and flooding along small streams or in poor drainage areas.

Dangerous surf also will become a growing concern, with weather officials in the Bay Area warning of waves up to 26 feet high.

    Thursday morning

By Thursday morning, showers will continue across Northern California, but the storm will take aim at Southern California and the Central Valley.

The heaviest rain in Los Angeles and Ventura counties is expected Thursday, with up to 2 inches in most areas — though only moderate rainfall rates are likely. Currently, no flood advisories have been issued for the regions.

However, a winter storm warning will be in effect beginning early Thursday for the Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino county mountains, including the San Gabriels, where the highest elevations could get up to 2 feet of snow. A few inches of snow are possible as low as 4,500 feet, and forecasters are warning that “travel may be difficult to impossible,” including along the 5 Freeway corridor.

The southern Sierra expects heavy snowfall beginning late Wednesday and into Thursday — from 1 to 4 feet, depending on elevation — but heavy rainfall in the foothills could cause flooding and mudslides, the National Weather Service warned.

Farther south and east, across much of Orange, San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, a flood watch will go into effect Thursday morning and run through Friday. With a slight chance for thunderstorms all day Thursday, forecasters warn that “excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.”

    Thursday night

Showers and bands of heavy rain will continue across southwest California, from the coast to the mountains.

Forecasters say snow levels will begin to drop Thursday night to about 4,500 to 5,000 feet, though heavy snow is not expected in those areas.

    Friday

Much of the wind, flood and winter storm advisories will expire Friday, though lingering showers will remain in both Northern and Southern California.

    Weekend

Saturday is expected to be a bit of a reprieve from precipitation — but officials say it won’t last long.

A second strong, wet storm, more focused on Southern California, is expected to bring more rain and snow, beginning as early as Sunday and lasting until midweek.

  • Five Ways To Boost Your Endocannabinoid System | High Times

Five Ways To Boost Your Endocannabinoid System | High Times

    [ad_1]

    Leafy Greens

    Shutterstock

If there aren’t enough reasons already, add more leafy greens to your diet. Research has shown that leafy greens rich with the terpene beta-caryophyllene activate the CB2 receptor in mice models. Beta-caryophyllene is also believed to show promise in combating inflammatory conditions and autoimmune disorders. Besides cannabis, beta-caryophyllene can be found in broccoli, basil, oregano, and rosemary, as well as many other common spices. Beta-caryophyllene may also reduce paranoia and some of the unwanted effects of cannabis. Alternatively, foods high in fat and carbs appear to be counteractive and lower the activity of the CB1 receptor.

    Exercise

    Shutterstock

Once you exercise stoned, you’ll never go back. Take our word for it. Get your runner’s high on! Medium- to high-intensity exercise has been shown to boost anandamide levels—the first endocannabinoid to be identified—and activate the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Research also has demonstrated that exercise significantly upregulates (increases signaling of) CB1 receptors and enhances CB1 receptor sensitivity. Anecdotal reports suggest that a brisk exercise for 20 minutes or more will make a significant difference and increase the pleasant effects from this phenomenon.

    Omega-3 Fatty Acids

    Shutterstock

If you’re not getting high enough you might not be incorporating enough omega-3 fatty acids in your diet. Research of mice models has shown that omega-3 fatty acids increase the synthesis of endocannabinoids and upregulate both the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The downside is that most people probably don’t consume enough omega-3 fatty acids to make a significant difference. However salmon or cod liver oil contain higher amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. Some scientists have suggested that CB1 receptors may not even form correctly without the presence of omega-3 fatty acids, so every stoner should make sure they include them in their diet.

    Cold Showers

    Shutterstock

A cold shower will not only tighten your pores but potentially provide other benefits as well. Early evidence from mice models suggests that exposure to cold has been shown to increase endocannabinoid levels. Researchers observed that cold exposure was significantly linked to an increased density of CB1 receptors. According to anecdotal reports, a cold shower for at least 30 seconds will make a difference. Cold showers are somewhat unpleasant, however, so it takes a bit of practice to get used to 30 uninterrupted seconds under cold water. Say Geronimo and jump in!

    Reduce Stress

    Shutterstock

Chronic stress could be harshing your high before you even smoke, so find ways to reduce stress. It’s easier said than done, right? Chronic and emotional stress has been shown in rat models to downregulate CB1 receptors. High cortisol levels for prolonged periods of time, typically caused by stressful circumstances, also was shown to significantly reduce the ability of cannabinoids to bind CB1 receptors. Furthermore, researchers say there is evidence to suggest that the ECS needs to be functioning properly in order to adequately deal with stress in the first place. Maybe meditate or do another activity to chill out before you begin a session.

Hacks To Transform Your Bathroom Into A Spa

    [ad_1]

While a key, function part of the home, like the kitchen, the bathroom is also a key point for alone and de-stress time. A study of 2,000 adults found 42 per cent often escape to the bathroom for a bit of peace and quiet away from the rest of their household.  It is such a happy place 55% regularly have an extra-long bath or shower so they can have more time to themselves.

But not everyone can indulge in redoing a bathroom and making it into something spectacular, so here are some easy hacks to transform your bathroom into a spa.

    Change Your Shower Head

A good shower head can change your life, and if you’ve never changed yours then you’ll surely appreciate this tip. Changing shower heads is very simple so you can do it yourself, and there are a few cheap (good) shower heads that you can buy online or at your nearest hardware store.

This $20 rain shower head is great if you’re using the default shower head that came with your bathroom. If you want to get a bit crazier and splurge, you can purchase this shower head for $50 that changes lights, regulates water temperature, and will make you feel like you’re showering in space.

    Oil Diffusers And Candles

A candle is a really important item for your bathroom, making it smell good and providing coziness and warmth.  Oil diffusers are also great and less flammable, making you feel like you own and manage a really great spa. Both of these items are easy to purchase and really make a difference in the mood and feel of your bathroom.

    Clear Toiletry Clutter

There’s nothing more stressful than a ton of toothpaste, pads, hairbrushes and lotions all piled up together because you can’t find a place to put them. Invest in jars and other containers that look good and that will keep things organized. Mason jars are a classic and cheap option for Q-tips, cotton balls, and other loose items. Be sure to get rid of the toiletries and empty bottles of product that are cluttering your bathroom in the meantime.

    Bath Salts And Scented Soaps

Bath salts are great and super relaxing, doing wonders for your skin and making you feel like you’re doing a good thing by spending time in your bathroom.  While baths are time consuming and annoying (since you have to scrub your bathtub clean before you use it), they can be a pretty delicious experience with the right tools.

Having this speaker will surely make your baths and showers more fun and enjoyable, while also making you feel rejuvenated, as if you spent some time doing something productive. Yay, you!

‘I Want Water To Pour Down On Me’: Trump Has Cold Words For Showers At GOP Dinner

    [ad_1]

The Republican frontrunner, in the dinner’s keynote speech, took aim at regulatory costs under President Joe Biden and claimed his administration “cut the cost of job-killing regulations” in U.S. households before sailing into his bathroom talk.

“You know I have this gorgeous head of hair – when I take a shower, I want water to pour down on me. When you go into these new homes with showers, the water drips down slowly, slowly,” Trump said.

“You have suds, beautiful nice wonderful suds, a lot of money, Procter & Gamble, all that crap that they sell they say is good, probably costs ’em about two cents and they sell it for $10. It takes you 10 minutes to wash your hair. You know what you do? You just stay in the shower about 10 times longer than you would have, it’s the same, you probably use more water. I broke all that up.”

Users on X (Twitter’s rebrand) mocked the former president for returning to one of his old hits about water flow on Saturday.

    May 12, 2023

The Neonatal Kitten Nursery, affectionately known as APA!’s Bottle Baby Program, saves some of our tiniest, most vulnerable babies — unweaned kittens. Our facility is typically closed to the public to keep the environment sterile. However once a year we open the doors for our annual Kitten Shower, which offers kittie enthusiasts an opportunity to take an inside look at the program as well as a way to support the important, life-saving work that is done there. And of course, we’ll offer the opportunity to cuddle some kittens!

Our nursery has already seen 1000+ kittens come into our care since January. The peak of kitten season, however, has just begun and will continue through about October. Support is greatly needed for these tiny furballs and the Kitten Shower is a wonderful way to provide it.

This year, the Kitten Shower takes place from 12 pm to 5 pm, Saturday, May 13th at our Tarrytown facility located at 3102 Windsor Rd., Suite D. There are three ways to support this fundraiser: gift a monetary donation, bring an item from the kitten wish list and participate in the silent auction.

Attendees are asked for a $20 entrance fee at the door, which provides items such as a can of kitten formula. The $20 fee covers a full family interested in attending. Another way to gain access to the event is to bring an item from the kitten wish list below:

    • KMR milk replacement, available at Petco

    • At least 3.5 lb bag of Royal Canin “Mother and Babycat” dry cat food

    • 12-roll or larger case of paper towels

    • 2 or more 100 oz. unscented laundry detergent

    • 1 box of 800 count or larger fragrance-free baby wipes

    • 6-pack or more of receiving blankets, which can be found at places like Target or Walmart in the baby section

In addition, there will be a silent auction that will include exciting items such as a gift certificate from Austin-favorite, Lick , a Pet Caricature Portrait by Art by HJoy, a ticket to AIA Home Tour 2023 and more. For those supporters who are unable to attend but still want to help the kittens in our nursery, please visit our Neonatal Kitten Nursery wishlist! You can have the items shipped directly to the nursery at 3102 Windsor Rd, Ste. D Austin, TX 78704.

Join us to meet some of the heroes — staff, volunteers and fosters, who give their hearts to ensure that the kittens that come into our care have a chance at life!
