  • Fall’s Chicest (and Most Practical) Totes, From $28 to $4,900

Fall’s Chicest (and Most Practical) Totes, From $28 to $4,900

With fall comes lots of layering… and inevitably taking the layers off when the weather isn’t as chilly as you expected. That, my friends, is where a tote bag comes in handy to stash knits, scarves, an extra pair of shoes—you name it. But when it actually does get cold, you’ll also need the extra room to throw in some mittens, beanies, and lip balms to combat chilly winds. In any case, a roomy tote bag is basically a must-have for the cold season ahead.

Below, I rounded up 31 totes in all sorts of shapes and a bevy of different price points, from wallet-friendly finds to true investment pieces. Let’s be real, if you currently have a pile of untouched tote bags you somehow got for free, why not buy one you’ll actually wear time and time again? I threw some trends in the mix like red hues (it’s really having a moment!), suede fabrics, quilted textures, and oversized shoppers. Fingers crossed you find a chic tote or two that speaks to you, though I get the feeling that it’s a done deal.

Not to Brag, But This Fall Wish List Has “I Hired a Stylist” Written All Over It

We’re ready to dole out the same sort of advice—with direct shopping links—to anyone in need of a little style inspiration. It’s a job I don’t take lightly. Scroll down for a truly special list of fall finds, from holiday-party dresses that can be unpacked and put on seconds before heading out the door to off-the-runway trousers that’ll stop passersby in their tracks to high-voltage accessories able to make any outfit a winner and shoes in the color that’s preparing to dominate come spring. • The Best Under-$500 Designer Buys On MyTheresa—Period

The Best Under-$500 Designer Buys On MyTheresa—Period

It’s very easy to be lured in by all the $1,000+ dresses, handbags, and shoes that litter the virtual shelves on MyTheresa.com, but that’s not all the German retailer’s storage facilities play home to. I’d know, I just thoroughly examined practically every item on its site. Hidden among those major investments is an equally alluring selection of under-$500 buys with all the same designer labels, from Celine and Gucci to Jacquemus and Toteme.

Given that you probably don’t have the luxury of dedicating an entire afternoon to online shopping like I do—being a fashion editor is fun!—I went ahead and lined up some of my more affordable MyTheresa finds below, with highlights including a 10/10 holiday party dress option, plenty of elevated basics, and the designer sunglasses that practically every Who What Wear editor owns at least one pair of. All of that and more is ripe for picking and just a scroll away.

  • I’m Thinking Ahead—Everything I Already Know I’ll Buy Come Spring 2024

    I’m Thinking Ahead—Everything I Already Know I’ll Buy Come Spring 2024

There was a time, before social media, when only editors, models, and other insider fashion cohorts were really paying attention to runway collections as they were showcased, making the roughly six-month gap between their debut and their arrival in stores feel like no huge deal for consumers. But these days, when every single collection is discussed and shared at length almost immediately following a show or literally during it, that wait time is almost unbearable.

Instead of wasting away in self-pity, though, I’m channeling that energy into intensely planning those purchases that will become possible in half a year’s time, allowing myself the opportunity to save my pennies until the exact day my dream The Row water shoes and Tory Burch evening coat at last make themselves available. Of course, looking through countless dreamy runway looks in the research process will only spur my want to spend right now, which is why the below guide to shopping spring 2024’s star pupils early will have its fair share of buy-now options sprinkled in. There’s something for everyone—the impatient shoppers and the intense planners—including me, who’s a little bit of both.

Scroll down to navigate through my comprehensive spring 2024 wish list, including shoes, bags, outerwear, and more.

  • I’m Being Serious—If You Skip This Madewell Sale, Don’t Come Crying to Me

I’m Being Serious—If You Skip This Madewell Sale, Don’t Come Crying to Me

Though I’m all for a designer sale that houses all kinds of off-the-runway pieces in loud colors and voluminous silhouettes, there’s something even more satisfying about one stocked full of reliable basics (with a few fun items sprinkled in for good measure) that you don’t need a special occasion to wear. If you agree, I’ve got some news for you. That exact sale scenario is going on right now at Madewell

Until midnight ET on Tuesday, October 24, when you use the code FALLIN at checkout, any sale item from Madewell that’s branded with the stamp “40% off with code FALLIN” on its product page is subject to an additional 40% off markdown. But that’s not all. Any full-price tops with this one, “25% off with code FALLIN,” are also up for grabs with a temporarily lower price. Basically, you can stock up on all of your favorite jeans, tees, jackets, sweaters, and more for a fraction of the cost you would be charged if you decided to wait another five days or so.

Scroll down to get all your basics shopping done for the year, courtesy of Madewell’s limited-time sale event. And if you’re thinking of skipping it, don’t. Or at least, don’t come crying to me when you have to pay full price for all of your fall essentials

  • Lace Gets a Bad Rep—27 Items That Are Single-Handedly Rewriting the Narrative

Lace Gets a Bad Rep—27 Items That Are Single-Handedly Rewriting the Narrative

Lace can either go great or terribly wrong—there’s really no in-between. With its ties to lingerie, the delicate fabric, when transitioned into the world of ready-to-wear, can stray too far in the direction of tacky instead of refined and romantic. No matter how often designers try to reel it back in, success is rarely achieved. But something to do with the material changed in the last year, resulting in a renaissance of sorts for all things lace—just in time for fall.

If you ask me, its success lies in designers finally embracing the romance and sexiness of lace and really steering clear of anything overly sleepwear-like. Pieces by labels like Saint Laurent, Alaïa, Khaite, and Beaufille are styled with pencil skirts, tailored outerwear, and sleek trousers and constructed with bold collars, velvet touches, and billowy sleeves. Bright, neon colors have been taken out of the equation, and emphasis is being placed on far more classic black and white designs that allow for easier styling and increased versatility. In other words, there are no longer any blockades in place to stop you from dipping your toe in the chic and sophisticated world of lace. For further proof, see how the fabric’s being worn to perfection on the runways and Instagram alike.

  • I Should Gate-Keep This Brand On Nordy, But I Won’t—23 Finds You’ll Thank Me For

I Should Gate-Keep This Brand On Nordy, But I Won’t—23 Finds You’ll Thank Me For

Given how many stories we publish daily, it’s essential that we as editors know our way around all of the big retailers. We each have our own unique time-saving techniques for filtering through thousands of items, allowing us to produce all of the content you see on Who What Wear. My personal go-to method for sifting through product-packed online stores is to focus on brand discovery and then hit up all of the chicest, most relevant brands first. That way, I never have to go through tens of thousands of options. I only really see what I already know will be good.

For a store like Nordstrom, this is especially critical since new items are being added all the time and the sheer volume of pieces is astronomical. The one brand I always type into the search bar first when I’m writing anything having to do with luxe-in-looks-but-not-in-price finds? Sophie Rue. Somehow, the brand, which is also sold on Revolve and keeps prices mostly between $80 and $400, doesn’t get a ton of attention. Hopefully, after you scroll through all of the newest items on Nordstrom from the brand, that won’t be the case any longer.

  • A Sale At Saks? Say Less—28 Finds I Was Shocked to Find In the Discount Bin

A Sale At Saks? Say Less—28 Finds I Was Shocked to Find In the Discount Bin

At the end of a long work week, there really isn’t anything better in my opinion than sitting down and scrolling through a sale that you really don’t have to scroll that far into to find some not-so-hidden gems. Well, apparently Saks read my mind, because right now, the luxury retailer’s having a flash sale, and unlike so many sales that set expectations sky high but don’t totally deliver, this one houses hit after hit.

The markdown event, called the Fashion Flash sale, consists of designer and contemporary items from brands like Helmut Lang and Tory Burch as well as Jacquemus, Proenza Schouler, and Khaite, all of which are up to 70% off right now through Sunday. They weren’t kidding when they called it a flash sale. So, to save you time but still ensure that you get the opportunity to shop off the work week, I went ahead and rounded up 28 of the best picks from the bunch. Scroll down to see what made the cut.

  • I Just Found 19 Off-the-Shoulder Tops to Mimic Meghan Markle’s—Thank Me Later

I Just Found 19 Off-the-Shoulder Tops to Mimic Meghan Markle’s—Thank Me Later

There aren’t a lot of clothing items that if you put them on Meghan Markle, won’t look incredible. Really, I’m not sure if there are any at all. But, as someone who’s studied her style from the Suits days until now, I can tell you that there are some pieces that stand out amongst the rest as being especially chic and memorable. One such example just made its debut this week, and already, I’m convinced that it’ll go down as the centerpiece of one of the humanitarian’s best outfits yet.

On Tuesday, Markle, along with Prince Harry, spoke on a panel in New York City called the Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age, which The Archewell Foundation, the couple’s charitable organization, put on with Project Healthy Minds for World Mental Health Day. For the speaking engagement, Markle chose one of the minimalist shades that she wears best, ivory, in the form of an off-the-shoulder Altuzarra blazer that she then paired with matching tailored trousers from the NYC-based brand and her go-to Aquazzura pumps.

Across fashion, off-the-shoulder silhouettes have been gaining momentum as the chic older sister to a basic tee, tank, or in this case, blazer. It adds a touch of sexiness while also maintaining an undeniable air of elegance and sophistication. So, it’s really no wonder why I and everyone else I’ve shown the below photo to have been equally obsessed with Markle’s look for the event. Sadly, her exact Altuzarra blazer already sold out (big surprise there), but there are plenty of equally alluring alternatives on the market, all of which are conveniently located below. Scroll down to see Markle’s look for the panel and shop the off-the-shoulder trend that’s taking over fashion right now.

  • *The* Fashion Collab of 2023 Is Here—9 Items I’m Buying Before It’s Too Late

*The* Fashion Collab of 2023 Is Here—9 Items I’m Buying Before It’s Too Late

If I’ve learned anything in my six years as a fashion editor, it’s just how much those in the industry lust over a good collaboration—emphasis on the word good. The concept of two brands coming together is nothing new, and in and of itself, nothing exciting. But when one partnership comes along that checks of every box—it feels authentic, there’s a reason it exists apart from that it can, and the clothes are chic—it stops everyone in their tracks. And then, it sends them scrambling to for their wallets.

Such is exactly what happened when, midway through August, Banana Republic—a brand that’s having a moment all on its own—announced an upcoming team-up with one of New York City’s buzziest design talents, Peter Do. Do, who’s namesake label has become one of the New York fashion scene’s favorites for timeless yet modern and cool wardrobe staples, is on the rise, with a new title as Helmut Lang’s creative director and Paris Fashion Week now added to his resume. But back then, you couldn’t buy it, and had no idea what the clothes would look like. That’s no longer the case now, though.

Almost two months after the word got out about the forthcoming line, Do’s Paris show doubled as a debut for a handful of the collaboration’s pieces, stirring up significant buzz. And this week, after everyone in fashion (myself included) had made their wishlist from the runway, all 36 items from the collection—ranging from basics like tanks, trousers, and button-down shirts to statement outerwear—are available to purchase. Well, most of them. Some have already sold out. Scroll down to shop the collaboration of the year before it’s too late.

23 Amazon Finds That French Women In Their 20s, 40s, and 60s Would Buy

It’s no big secret that French women have a reputation for dressing well. Whether it’s because they’re surrounded by the very best of what fashion has to offer or due to some top-secret styling code passed down for generations, it doesn’t much matter. The result is the same: the French simply have the looking chic thing down, from their 20s to their 40s to to their 60s and beyond. It’s a skill—one that many, myself included, would like to, at last, decode.

  • 30 Trending Amazon Finds You’ll Definitely Regret Not Buying

30 Trending Amazon Finds You’ll Definitely Regret Not Buying

There’s no denying that Amazon is an endless pit of products, and it can be extremely overwhelming to dig up some great fashion finds. Time-consuming is an understatement. Thankfully, Who What Wear editors are masters at online shopping and know exactly how to dig up some stylish gems from the site. In this case, I was able to find a plethora of trending pieces that are spot-on for this season and beyond. The best part is that all the pieces are budget friendly, coming in at under $100.

This particular haul is comprised of a mix of timeless trends (think luxe-looking sweaters, modern-cut basics, and cool coats) along with some of the standout trends of the season. I personally had a hard time not adding every last piece to my virtual cart, especially since a lot of these items can easily be mixed and matched. • The Who What Wear 100: Every Single Fall 2023 Item You Should Be Shopping

The Who What Wear 100: Every Single Fall 2023 Item You Should Be Shopping

The color of the season is undoubtedly red. Specifically a hot, fiery shade of red that permeated the F/W 23 collections at runway shows including The Row, Ferragamo, and countless others. We’ve written about this color at length, but were interested to see how it actually played out in the style set’s wardrobe. On the street style scene at fashion month, minimalists and trendy dressers alike have integrated the color into their looks in a major way, making it one of the biggest trends amongst the front row set from New York to Paris—building the case even further that red is the most important color to wear for fall. We saw the color worn as punchy head-to-toe looks, but also in more subtle ways. Often, a pop of red added with a ballet flat, a quilted bag, a pair of opaque tights, or a drop earring.

I’ve Tried, But I Just Can’t Stop Thinking About These Fall Ref and Mango Finds

Since I look at clothes pretty much all day, every day, being able to resist pretty things is practically an essential part of my job description. If I couldn’t, well, my paycheck would never actually reach my bank account. There are far too many temptations in the way. With that in mind, when I’m categorically unable to say no and mean it, the pieces causing this internal battle have to be good. Trust me. I’m not giving in for just anything.

Right now, there are really only two brands swirling around my mind with no intention of leaving and no one exactly kicking them out: Mango and Reformation. That’s because I spent a few too many hours today scrolling through both retailers’ fall collections and was thoroughly impressed with what I found. From viral-worthy dresses to the prettiest boots you’ll see, like, ever, find a little bit of everything your fall wardrobe’s been craving below from Reformation and Mango. At least, I know I did.

  • I’m Going to Paris Next Month—Fall Pieces I Want In My Suitcase

I’m Going to Paris Next Month—Fall Pieces I Want In My Suitcase

Next month, I have a trip planned to visit Paris—one of my favorite destinations. Though I’ve traveled there at different times throughout the year, I’ve never visited during the fall and naturally, as a fashion editor, I’ve been thinking about the new-season pieces I will be packing into my suitcase. I am already envisioning the looks I’ll be wearing that are grounded in classic pieces and directional shapes—all with many opportunities for layering.

While I always head to my closet when packing, I typically buy a few new pieces when I’m headed on a trip and also leave room in my suitcase for vacation shopping finds. Among the pieces I’m eyeing for my Paris wardrobe are capri pants, tailored outerwear, and items finished in cherry red. With that in mind, I made a list of the items sitting at the top of my shopping wish list for the trip. Ahead, see the shopping finds topping my list.

Oh This? It’s J.Crew—28 Just-Dropped Finds That Make Casual Elegance Look Easy

J.Crew might be known for its preppy aesthetic, but fortunately for us, it’s not the one that starts with whale-embroidered chinos at the club and ends with pink-and-green paisley on a catamaran. Rather, the J.Crew of 2023 is all about preppy fashion that errs on the side of casual, laid-back elegance—no intense effort or seven-digit net worth required. For proof, all you need to see is the brand’s fall drop, which landed on J.Crew’s website this week and features a bevy of relaxed but rich-looking finds worthy of a purchase ahead of the fast-approaching season.

Among the just-released fall items are viral-prone footwear, ranging from penny loafers to sculptural wedges; dangerously cozy knits; and lots of outerwear for all of the different weather situations we’ll surely be put in before the end of 2023. • I’ve Never Been a Revolve Girl, But Consider Me Converted by These 32 Fall Finds

I’ve Never Been a Revolve Girl, But Consider Me Converted by These 32 Fall Finds

Though I shopped at Revolve probably too much in high school (back before the company dropped the word “clothing” in its domain name), I almost never do in my adult life. As someone whose style errs more on the hushed, timeless side as opposed to the colorful, lively one, I never really thought there was anything for me there apart from the occasional in-stock sneaker or chic Helsa dress. But with a new season approaching, I thought I’d use it as an excuse to give Revolve another chance. It’s the least I could do for the brand that supplied me with my junior-year prom dress. (It was coral, but so was everyone’s in 2013.)

Following an afternoon-long scroll through Revolve’s fall arrivals, I’m officially ready to admit that I’d been 100% wrong to think that the retailer wasn’t fully stocked with pieces that would perfectly align with my more minimalist style preferences. In fact, my findings were some of the best fall pieces I’ve discovered all season, and that includes things from my tried-and-true stores and designers. From ’90s-inspired strapless dresses to elegant basics including knitwear, trousers, and outerwear, the 32 items below converted me. Consider me a Revolve girl from now on.
