A good pair of penny loafers are a closet staple. You can wear them from winter to summer, and from work to dinner with friends. But finding the right pair of loafers can be a challenge. Some are too stiff for everyday wear, others are too trendy to be a favorite for years to come.

That’s where Cole Haan’s Lux Pinch Penny Loafers ($158) come in. These shoes feature a classic penny silhouette, one that’s been around for centuries, in a soft-grain leather. I’ve always been a fan of Cole Haan shoes, so when I came across this style, I was eager to test them out and see if they would become part of my everyday shoe rotation. Read my full review of the Lux Pinch Penny Loafers, ahead.

What’s the Criteria For a Good Pair of Loafers?

Living in New York City means that proper footwear is an essential. My shoes need to work for my life, enduring eight-plus miles a day, bringing me from the office to the park to a bike ride through the streets. Because I’m constantly on-the-go, the shoes that I reach for are the ones that don’t leave me with blisters or aching feet at the end of a long day. Beyond practicality and comfort, I want stylish loafers that I can wear with a range of outfits. These parameters often leave me with a limited selection of shoes to choose from — beyond my trusty Salomon sneakers and my Proenza Schouler x Birkenstock sandals. But the Lux Pinch Penny Loafers fit the bill.

What I Like About the Lux Pinch Penny Loafers

Coming in well under $200, the Cole Haan loafers are rather affordable compared to similar styles made with real leather. My other leather loafers are pretty rigid, but this pair is soft and flexible, while still maintaining its structure. They also didn’t have a breaking-in period; I was able to wear them throughout the entire day, blister-free, immediately after taking them out of the box.

To really put the loafers to the test, I wore them biking from Williamsburg to Prospect Park, which is about eight miles roundtrip. I usually have to compromise on my outfit when it comes to biking, and opt for a pair of sneakers instead. On the product listing, Cole Haan says that loafers feature the brand’s “3D Lux Comfort,” an innovative technology that helps with shock absorption and arch support, while cushioning the heel. Stepping into the shoes, I immediately felt the cushioning effect. It added a nice padding throughout my bike ride, making the loafers practically as comfortable as a running shoe. Not to mention, the loafers complemented my outfit more than my everyday pair of sneakers.

Beyond fit and comfort, the shoe itself is timeless. The grain on the leather is soft and shiny, making it feel quite luxurious. But the classic penny shape can easily be dressed up or down. I’ve worn these loafers with a long dress for a Friday night dinner and with a tennis skirt and an oversized T-shirt while running errands. No matter the occasion, I just slide my feet into these loafers and wear them all day, issue-free. It’s safe to say these Cole Haan loafers have become one of the most worn pairs of shoes in my closet.

What to Consider Before Buying These Loafers

Though the product listing recommends sizing down by a half size for those with narrow feet, I actually found the opposite to be true. I’m a US women’s size seven and my feet are about medium width. Initially, I ordered a size seven, but the loafers were too tight. I decided to go up a half size, and they fit perfectly. Since the loafers come in standard width, I’d suggest going up a half size if you have wider feet.

Another factor to consider is that the soles do not have a strong grip, mainly the upper part of the sole. My feet occasionally slipped while walking around, more specifically on the ramp of the city’s street curbs. If you’re someone who prefers more traction, you can always bring the loafers to the cobbler and add a rubber grip to the sole.

    Additional Details About the Loafers

The Cole Haan Lux Pinch Penny Loafers ($158) are available in four different colors. Women’s sizes range from 5 US to 11 US, in half-size increments, and come in standard (medium) width.

    Where Are These Loafers Available?

You can purchase a pair on the brand’s website, Zappos, and Amazon.

The Best Barefoot Shoes for Walking or Running

    [ad_1]

You were born barefoot, and a growing body of evidence suggests you should have stayed that way. The technology and padding of the modern shoe protect your feet, but protection isn’t always what you want. Feet were made to stretch, flex, roll, and bend, and letting them do what they evolved to do can reduce impact injuries and provide a host of other benefits.

That said, please do not buy a pair of these barely-there shoes and start walking or running the way you always have. That won’t work, and it can lead to injuries. You need to ease into all things barefoot-related, and to some degree you need to relearn how to walk and run. In this guide, we’ve got advice on making the transition from padded shoes to “barefoot shoes” (also known as minimalist shoes or zero-drop shoes), and we’ve rounded up our favorites. They’re as close as you can get to achieving that barefoot sensation without running afoul of “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service” signs.

  • The $36 Amazon Heels I’m Wearing to All 3 Summer Weddings

The $36 Amazon Heels I’m Wearing to All 3 Summer Weddings

    [ad_1]

While each product featured is independently selected by our editors, we may include paid promotion. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission. Read more about our Product Review Guidelines here.

I’ve got a wedding-heavy summer ahead, so much so that I now consider myself an expert bridesmaid. However, as many of us know, bridesmaid duties come with hefty costs. While I’d do almost anything for my friends, going into debt isn’t one of them. That’s why I’ve been savvy about cutting costs, especially when it comes to my wedding shoes.

I’m wearing the same pair to all three weddings on my calendar, namely the Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals ($36). I virtually stumbled upon them while working on a story about the best summer shoes on Amazon, and I was immediately intrigued since they hold the number one spot among all women’s heeled sandals. Given their popularity, and the fact that the brand Dream Pairs happens to also make some of the most comfortable Western boots I’ve ever owned (these ones!), I decided they’d be a safe bet for my weddings. I scooped them up in my usual size 9.5 in a light beige color I knew would match all of my bridesmaid dresses — and that was one of the smartest decisions I’ve made this summer.

    Main Image

Ahead, I break down everything you need to know about them if you’re considering buying them for a special event, too.

At the time of writing, I’ve already worn the Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals to two of my three summer weddings. I’ll admit, when everyone was showing off their designer shoes before the ceremony at the first wedding, I stayed quiet since I spent practically nothing on mine. But then I couldn’t help but smile when I was the only bridesmaid who kept my shoes on for the entire reception. They were comfortable enough and stable. Even though the unhemmed dress I wore gave me some trouble walking down the aisle (totally my fault), my shoes kept me upright. Their chunky, stable block heel held up perfectly, even on the wet grass from a rainstorm earlier that day.

Beyond their comfort, they looked the part, too, which I’d like to think is evidenced in this mirror selfie I snapped at the second wedding while the bride lounged behind me. (I’m wearing the Azazie Barbie Pleated Chiffon A-Line Dress in Champagne, BTW, and felt like a princess.) I chose the light beige color (one of 31 total styles and colors to choose from) because I knew they’d go with everything. Plus, I figured that if they survived all three weddings, the versatile shade would make them perfect for future special events. Despite wearing them through two ceremonies, two receptions, and hours of questionable moves on the dance floor, they’re still in pristine shape for my final summer wedding in a few weeks.

These sandals are not the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, which, to be honest, I kind of expected given their price tag. The buckle at the ankle dug into my skin a bit at the first wedding, but in retrospect, I’m confident that was a user error from securing them as tight as possible to prevent a walk-down-the-aisle stumble. I was still able to wear them all night, which is more than I can say for some of the pricier heels I own. At the second wedding I didn’t secure the strap as tightly and found they were comfortable from the time I slipped them on at 3 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. post-ceremony. No blisters, no blood, no regret.

Another thing worth noting is that shoppers seem a bit conflicted over the fit. I hover between sizes 9.5 and 10, and since multiple shoppers noted that they run big, I went for the 9.5 and found they were a perfect fit. Many reviewers suggest ordering a half size down, which made sense for me, but a handful of others found that sizing down made them too small. So, if you’re ordering them on Amazon without much time to spare, it might be worth ordering two sizes to find your ideal fit and returning the pair that doesn’t work.

The Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals are perfect for those looking for a reasonably priced, comfortable, and versatile pair of heels for a special event. While they might not be the most comfortable shoes in the world, they’re the number one bestseller on Amazon in women’s heeled sandals for plenty of other reasons. They’ve checked a big box off my summer wedding wardrobe checklist and will suit you well for any event where you need a timeless heel.

I purchased the Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals on Amazon, which was ideal because they arrived very quickly with Amazon Prime shipping, but they’re also available on the brand’s website.

    • The Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals come in a total of 31 colors and styles.
    • They have a three-inch block heel.
    • They’re available for fast shipping with Amazon Prime.

    The Best Espadrilles for Summer

    [ad_1]

When it comes to summer shoes, you can’t go wrong with an effortless espadrille. There’s something about that roped sole that instantly adds a perfectly seasonal edge to any ensemble, and while the espadrille is perhaps most closely associated with the traditional lace-up wedge or canvas flatform iterations, there are now countless other styles out there to choose from, for every sartorial preference.

Espadrilles originated in Spain hundreds of years ago as a simple, comfortable work shoe. They’ve since evolved into a versatile, fashionista-adored shoe; one that is quintessentially summer. Espadrilles are laidback yet polished, and they’re a lovely alternative when you’re not in the mood for a sporty athletic sneaker or uncomfortable heel. There’s a jute-soled shoe for every occasion; you can dress them up or down and pair them with everything from flowing maxi dresses and crisp white pants to crochet cover-ups and your favorite denim. They add a touch of sophisticated ease to any outfit, and it’s no wonder they’re so often the shoe of choice during summer months. Below, see the best espadrilles to add to your warm weather wardrobe.

  • Nike Is Killing the App for Its $350 Self-Tying Sneakers

Nike Is Killing the App for Its $350 Self-Tying Sneakers

    [ad_1]

In 2019, Nike got closer than ever to its dream of popularizing self-tying sneakers by releasing the Adapt BB. Using Bluetooth, the sneakers paired to the Adapt app that let users do things like tighten or loosen the shoes’ laces and control its LED lights. However, Nike has announced that it’s “retiring” the app on August 6, when it will no longer be downloadable from Apple’s App Store or the Google Play Store; nor will it be updated.

In an announcement recently spotted by The Verge, Nike’s brief explanation for discontinuing the app is that Nike “is no longer creating new versions of Adapt shoes.” The company started informing owners about the app’s retirement about four months ago.

Those who already bought the shoes can still use the app after August 6, but it’s expected that iOS or Android updates will eventually make the app unusable. Also, those who get a new device won’t be able to download Adapt after August 6.

Without the app, wearers are unable to change the color of the sneaker’s LED lights. The lights will either maintain the last color scheme selected via the app or, per Nike, “if you didn’t install the app, light will be the default color.” While owners will still be able to use on-shoe buttons to turn the shoes on or off, check its battery, adjust the lace’s tightness, and save fit settings, the ability to change lighting and control the shoes via mobile phone were big selling points of the $350 kicks.

Despite the Adapt BB being Nike’s third version of self-tying sneakers and its most widely available one yet, the sneakers look doomed to have some its most marketed features bricked. Nike still maintains other mobile apps that are directly tied to shoe functionality, like its shopping app and Run Club app for tracking running.

    Disappointed Sneakerheads

Adapt BB owners have shared disappointment after learning the news. One Reddit user who claimed to own multiple pairs of the shoes called the news “hyper bullshit,” while another described it as “immensely disappointing.”

Some hope that Nike will open-source the app so that customers can maintain their shoes’ original and full functionality. But Nike hasn’t shared any plans to do so. Ars Technica asked the company about this but didn’t hear back ahead of press time.

One person going by Maverick-1776 on Reddit wrote:

These shoes were so expensive when they came out. I don’t see why it’s such a big deal to keep supporting the app. It doesn’t mean they need to dedicate a dev team. …

Hopefully the app doesn’t disappear if you already have it installed. I like using the app to see how much battery is left, or just messing around with the LEDs.”

Reddit’s Taizan said companies like Nike should “offer alternatives or put out stuff to the public domain when they do these things,” adding: “Sustainability also involves maintenance of past products, digital or not.”

    “I’m Out. Fuck ’Em.”

Some may be unsurprised that Nike’s attempt at commercializing the shoes from Back to the Future Part II has run into a wall. Nike, for instance, also discontinued NikeConnect, its app for $200 NBA jerseys announced in 2017 that turned wearers into marketing gold.

Casual sneaker wearers would overlook the Adapt BB’s flashy features, but the shoe had inherent flaws that could frustrate sneaker fanatics, too. It didn’t take long, for example, for a recommended software update to break the shoes, including making them unwearable to anyone who wanted to tighten the laces. (At the time, Nike said the problem affected a small number of owners.) Nike’s tech inexperience played a role, as the company’s testing reportedly didn’t fully consider all the different phone models in use and their varying Bluetooth capabilities.

    [ad_1]

Since we’re all on a late-’90s/early 2000s nostalgia kick thanks to the series hitting Netflix for the first time this past spring, it’s hardly surprising that the shoe trend is back and bigger than ever. It’s been 26 years since SATC debuted, but we’re all desperate for a slice of that Y2K rom com main character energy. And after several years of big and bold shoes reigning supreme (‘70s platforms, chunky trainers, sturdy loafers…), the age of teeny-tiny shoes is here: ballet flats (especially mesh designs), micro heels and thong sandals are all having a moment. It’s the perfect break for our summer outfits (and for our feet). With a slingback, you still get some of the height, minus the teetering — and with a d’orsay cut, they’re practically sweat-free. So, if you’re still searching for the shoe of the season, consider your mission accomplished.

  • My New Favorite Boots Are the Trendiest Mix of Moto and Country

My New Favorite Boots Are the Trendiest Mix of Moto and Country

    [ad_1]

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

If scampering around Coachella’s polo grounds this year taught me anything, it’s that Western looks are in (thank you, Beyoncé), and the trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. While I wouldn’t necessarily find myself donning a cowboy hat on a random Tuesday night before heading out to dinner with my girlfriends, I can absolutely envision myself in a pair of Western-themed boots. Cowboy boots would be an easy choice, but before you hit “add to cart” on the pair you’ve been eyeing, allow me to introduce you to something I guarantee you’re going to like even better.

Free People teamed up with the shoe brand Jeffery Campbell and the leather-goods brand Understated Leather to create the shoe of my (and probably your) dreams. Enter: the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boot ($348). Yes, the name is a mouthful, but as soon as I saw a photo of them online, I knew I was going to be obsessed. Ever since I received them, they’ve had me in an absolute chokehold, and for good reason. The quality is perfection, they’re comfortable, and they can be styled with virtually anything in my closet.

    Main Image

They’re one part moto boot, one part cowboy boot, and all around great for dancing, walking, and just general frolicking, which I am going to find myself doing a lot of in the coming months.

Keep scrolling to read my full review of the boots I’ll be wearing nonstop this summer and beyond.

What I Like About the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boots

First and foremost, the number one thing I noticed about these boots when I took them out of their box was the quality. They’re made of thick, heavy leather, and I could feel how well-constructed they are as soon as I touched them. However, although they’re sturdy, they aren’t uncomfortable to walk in. I’ve found that most boots take a breaking-in period, but I didn’t have that problem with these. So far, I’ve worn them out to dinner, to a concert, and to an outdoor picnic, all with zero issues. I’ve done quite a bit of walking in them, and I haven’t had to deal with blisters or chafing (although I should note that I make sure to wear a pair of thick socks with them).

The design is also utter perfection. They’re essentially a motorcycle boot with Western-inspired stitching, which makes them an easy grab when I’m heading out of the house, no matter what I’m wearing. Plus, the harness on the shoes is removable, so if you want to opt for a more pared-down look, you can do that as well. The design is unique enough that I get tons of “where did you get those?” questions whenever I’m out and about, but it’s also simple enough to be a staple shoe in my closet.

I haven’t yet had a chance to wear them to a festival, but I already know they’re going to be my go-to shoe for any occasion where I need to walk a lot and still look fashionable at the same time.

What’s Worth Noting About the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boots

The boots come in two color options, black and brown, both of which are stunning. I had a hard time choosing between the two options, but I ended up going with black because the majority of my wardrobe is the same shade. If you’re having a hard time picking, I’d suggest thinking about what color will go best with the rest of the clothes in your closet.

I was a little stressed when it came to sizing, because I didn’t try on the shoes in person, but I went with my typical size 8. The boot fits well, even with a thick sock, but I probably could have sized up half a size for a little more room. Boots are often a hit or miss for me because of the size of my legs, but I still had extra room around my 14.5-inch calves once I slipped these on.

Who Are the Jeffrey Campbell x Free People x Understated Leather Motoboy Boots Best For?

The design of these boots is so versatile that I’d suggest them for essentially anyone. Whether you’re looking for comfortable boots you can wear all day long at a music festival, a standout pair to wear to a concert, or boots that match virtually any outfit, these would be my pick. They’re the perfect mix of a motorcycle boot and a cowboy boot, and look cute with everything from jeans to dresses to shorts.

Although I’ve styled them in numerous ways, I think my favorite way to wear them in the coming months is going to be with a pair of boxer shorts, a white tank, and an oversized leather jacket. Casual, but still chic.

These Target Mesh Flats Look Like an Expensive Designer Pair—But They’re Actually On Sale For $20

As someone who works in fashion, I’m constantly surrounded by people who wear expensive clothing and accessories. So, when I recently spotted another editor walking around in a pair of mesh flats, I wrote them off as something well beyond my budget. I’ve seen similar pairs from luxury brands like Khaite ($790) and Chloé ($690), and while Loeffler Randall, Reformation, and Dear Frances all make cheaper lookalikes, they still cost over $100.

So imagine my surprise when I was informed that the mesh flats I was eyeing were actually from Target. And not just that—they were currently on sale for just $20.

Of course, Target is the place to go for quality designer dupes, especially if we’re talking shoes. The store sells everything from Givenchy-like boots to sandals that can pass for Hermes. It’s not all that shocking that it would be selling one of the top shoe trends for 2024, which pairs perfectly with eveything from summer sundresses to ruffled shorts to casual pairs of jeans.

However, A New Day’s Mel Sheer Mesh Ballet Flats have seemingly flown under the radar. All sizes, ranging from 5 to 12, appear to be available, and shoppers are able to choose between both white and black colorways.

Still, customers who have added these shoes to their rotation are giving them glowing reviews, marveling at the fact they can get the luxury look for a lot less.

“The most comfortable flats and the best price. I am not paying Khaite prices for it,” one person wrote, before providing a warning about sizing—and adding a special request to Target. “Side note these aren’t true to size as in it is a bit narrow. So you can go half a size your normal size for better fit. Target make these in burgundy red before summer is over.”

Aside from being labeled as a “great designer dupe,” with many noting that they’re “quality,” these shoes also have memory foam insoles, which customers say is a game changer.

“Love these shoes and they are super comfortable!” read another 5-star review.

Weirdly enough, the only negative comments I found were people not understanding that these shoes were fully sheer…which is the whole point and even included in the product name. Thankfully, Target makes regular ballet flats, too, so if see-through isn’t your style, you’ll be able to find a more classic option (like this one, which costs just $16).

I really feel it’s only a matter of time before the world catches on and these shoes sell out. So, if you’re ready to embrace the mesh flat trend for summer, you should probably just add ’em to cart, ASAP (along with this embellished alternative which is $24 and just as cute, IMO).

We Asked Podiatrists For The Best Walking Sandals For Women—Here’s What They Suggest

When summer’s rising temps have you pushing your sneakers and boots to the back of your closet, you might find yourself reaching for sandals more often than not. If your current options leave your feet aching or blistered, sorry to break it to you, but you’ve got the wrong pairs in your arsenal. So take it from us, and the two podiatrists we consulted, that the following six shoes are the absolute best walking sandals for women.

It’s not as simple as crowning one sandal the best in its class because everyone’s feet are different—from arch to width to specific needs. But that’s where our experts come in. They’ve named the best walking sandals for women across several categories, which include hiking, plantar fasciitis, and wide feet, among others. While we couldn’t possibly cover every single foot shape or concern, these six options should be enough to help you land on a pair that fits and feels best for you.

If you’re at a loss for where to begin with this shopping decision, keep reading to find out what to look for and what to avoid in a walking sandal. Dr. Alissa Kuizinas, DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine), and Dr. Stephen Bui, board-certified in Sports Medicine and Podiatric Surgery, answer these important questions and also share their top product picks for the best walking sandals for women.

The Best Walking Sandals For Women At a Glance

What should you look for in walking sandals?

    • The sole of the sandals should be flexible so that it can move with your foot
    • A comfortable, contoured footbed that matches the natural shape of your feet
    • Adjustable design elements to keep your sandals in place (i.e. adjustable straps over the toes, behind the heel, or around the ankle)

Additionally, Dr. Bui recommends paying close attention to your foot type when buying a new pair of walking sandals. If you have narrow feet, look for a narrower design in the forefoot and heel. If you have wide feet, keep an eye out for a wider toe box and a wider overall forefoot and heel. Folks with extra wide feet might want to consider men’s sizing.

What should you avoid in walking sandals?

    • Flip-flops because they can cause your toes to grip the sandals so they don’t slide off
    • Heeled sandals, especially for all-day wear, because they put too much pressure on the ball of your foot and keep your ankle in a plantarflexed position
    • Straps that squeeze your toes together
    • Tight-fitting sandals since your feet swell throughout the day

To ensure your shoes don’t fit too tight, Dr. Bui suggests checking that the tip of your longest toe has a thumb’s width of space. Your toes should never sit on the edge of your sandal. You can avoid this by watching your foot push off the ground as you walk. Do your toes peek out of your sandals? If they do, you might want to size up. Also, make sure the back of your foot doesn’t have more than a thumb’s width of space, especially if your shoes don’t have an adjustable heel strap. You don’t want your foot to slip out of your sandals while you’re walking.

Not to mention, your feet swell throughout the day, so it can’t hurt to size up a half or whole size to accommodate that natural change in size. Dr. Bui also notes that folks with diabetes tend to have more sensitive skin and feet, so always remember to check your shoes for exposed threads or seams. You don’t want anything cutting into your skin and irritating it.

And just like the other pair of Xero Shoes on this list, this one is so flexible that you can roll them up and transport them easily. What does our expert have to say about this sandal? “It’s a natural shape for people who have wide feet, and adjustable straps around the ankle provide heel stabilization. There is also a cupped protective section of rubber on the bunion, which is helpful for people who have bunions so they don’t hit their bunion on anything,” says Dr. Bui. “Another benefit is that Xero Shoes has a 5,000 mile sole warranty, so you can get a lot of wear testing out of them.”

The shoe additionally decreases the stress put on your feet, knees, and lower back when you walk. “This sandal has comfortable support and good cushion, which is great if your feet are tired. This is a time when I would recommend extra cushioning, for athletes recovering after training,” Dr. Bui notes. I can’t forget to mention that these kicks are moisture-resistant, machine-washable, and adjustable. Plus, they’re so lightweight that they can float in water.

Shopping for a new pair of shoes takes a lot of careful thought and consideration. Sure, you can go out and just hit the “add to cart” button on the next cute pair you find in your size, but that’s how you can end up with blisters everywhere and eventually, a box that collects dust in the back of your closet.

When shopping for shoes, we look for options that hit that sweet spot between style and comfort. We like to think of ourselves as experts on this matter. We scour the internet for the latest and greatest new products, sift through thousands of reviews, and road-test items in real life to ensure they’re worth it. The latest brand we put to the test was Charlotte Stone.

The company was created in 2014 by an Ontario-born designer of the same name with the goal of making shoes fun and exciting, not daunting or uncomfortable. The website reads, “We believe that fashion, like life, is meant to be enjoyed. Not painful. Not prohibitively expensive. And not relegated to special days like birthdays and holidays.”

From a quick look at Charlotte Stone’s website, you’ll see that, visually, the brand is nailing it. The line-up includes everything from sandals to clogs, sneakers, flats, and heels, with most of the shoes coming in the brand’s signature bright, color-block hues. Whether you’re looking for a pair of shoes that’ll make you smile every time you look down at your feet or you have a vacation coming up where fun, festive footwear is in order, Charlotte Stone may have the option for you.

The Best Sandals Under 0 for Summer 2024

This post will show you 27 of the cutest sandals under $150 for 2024.

Spring is in full bloom, which means it’s time to put away the boots (and thick socks) and get ready for sandal season!

In the spring and especially in the summer, we live in sandals. From comfy flats to flashy heels, sandals can make or break your spring and summer outfits.

But rather than spend a fortune on new footwear, I’ve scoured the web to find you the 27 best sandals for spring and summer, all under $150, with some options even under $20

Whether you’re looking for dressy sandals with heels or flat, laid-back sandals for everyday, I’ve got you covered.

Read on for the 27 best sandals under $100 and pick up a pair (or two, or three…) of stylish new sandals for the season ahead.

    1. Waterproof Slide Sandals

For the last couple of years, there has been one pair of sandals that holds the #1 spot in my spring/summer shoe wardrobe — and on this list.

The Birkenstock Arizona Essentials slide sandals are absolute must-haves: they are ultra-comfortable, waterproof, and under $50.

Plus, they come in a ton of different colors, from basics like black and white to pastel hues (I’m digging the mint green shade above) and colorful tie-dye prints. You are basically guaranteed to find a color that you like!

Their waterproof, rubber material makes these the perfect footwear for the beach or pool, but they also look (and feel) just as great with dresses and jeans.

These footbed sandals are so easy to slide on and off and extremely lightweight, so if you’re traveling anywhere this summer, you should totally consider packing these as they won’t add unwanted extra weight to your suitcase.

    I can’t recommend these enough!

    2. Flat Slide Cut-Out Sandals

Everyone needs a sleek, flat slide sandal in their shoe wardrobe, and this option is not only chic, but cheap!

For only $20, you can score these stylish slides that feature a cut-out design and are available in five versatile hues.

Whether you opt for classic black, summery raffia, or trendy denim, you can’t go wrong with these effortless slide sandals. They will pair perfectly with summer dresses, jean shorts, flowy skirts, and pants — you name it!

    3. Braided Block Heel Mules

These neutral-colored braided block heel mules are as versatile as it gets — these sandals go with just about any type of look!

I always recommend owning at least one pair of heels that are a close match to your skin tone so that they appear neutral and will match almost any outfit — plus, they will make your legs look longer!

I’m also a fan of block heels, which tend to be more comfortable and easier to walk in than stilettos. The mule-style design makes these sandals easy to slip on, and the braided straps add a fashion-forward touch, too.

Whether you wear these out on the town, to a wedding, or even graduation, they are sure to become an instant favorite.

    4. Quilted Three-Strap Sandals

How luxe do these quilted three-strap sandals look?

Their quilted vegan leather construction and shiny gold hardware give them a luxurious look that is going to elevate your summer outfits while still keeping you comfortable thanks to their molded footbed.

The sandal’s three-strap design also gives you a more customized fit since the straps are adjustable.

Comfort meets style with these chunky footbed sandals featuring treaded soles and a double-strap design.

These slide sandals are perfect for everyday wear and come in a bunch of different, neutral hues so that you’ll be able to choose a pair that best matches your summer wardrobe.

    6. Cherry Strappy Heeled Sandals

I couldn’t not include these strappy heeled sandals, which are some of the cutest and most eye-catching shoes I’ve ever seen!

These strappy black heeled sandals feature adorable cherry adornments for a kitschy, completely unique look that’s giving camp in the best way. They are guaranteed to get you compliments (and questions as to where you got them!).

Make sure to pair these sandals with mini and midi-length skirts and dresses in order to really show off the cherry details.

    7. Low Platform Ankle-Strap Sandals

Looking for a sandal that’s a cross between dressy and casual? These low-platform ankle-strap sandals hit the mark.

Their low platform heel can be worn during the daytime or nighttime, and the sleek, minimal design will pair well with a variety of looks.

Dress them up or keep them casual — either way, you can’t go wrong with these.

    8. Strappy Lace-Up Heeled Sandals

Give your spring and summer outfits a pop of color with some red sandals.

These strappy lace-up heeled sandals are going to pop and make you look super stylish, especially thanks to their lace-up design, square toe, and sculpted heel.

The low heel height also means it will be easier to walk (and dance) in, which is always a plus!

    9. Sporty Adjustable Sandals

Take on your summer adventures with some sporty sandals featuring grippy traction and adjustable straps to ensure a secure fit.

I always turn to Teva for comfortable sandals that are ideal for outdoor excursions, and now that they make cute styles (like this pair with fashion-forward color-blocking), I’m just as inclined to wear them day-to-day.

The Teva Hurricane XLT2 sandals come in a bunch of different colors and prints, are made from recycled materials, and have a feature to stabilize and support your foot on uneven terrain, making them a great option no matter where your summer break takes you.

P.S. — if you’re looking for true hiking sandals, check out Teva’s Zymic or Terra Fi 5 models.

    10. Woven Platform Sandals

It doesn’t get much more summery than woven jute sandals, and this platform pair is right on trend for the season.

Made with natural-inspired materials — a woven platform heel and a linen upper — these platform sandals are made for breezy sundresses, flowy beach pants, and cut-off denim shorts.

They are perfect for any summer vacation plans you may have, or if you aren’t going anywhere, they will still make you feel like you’re on vacation.

    11. Translucent Vinyl Heeled Sandals

One of the big shoe trends this season? Clear, translucent vinyl styles. These clear vinyl heels are going to make your legs look super long thanks to their barely-there design.

Not only does the see-through effect mean that these sandals will match everything (literally), but they will also give your legs a lengthened appearance, which is ideal when you’re wearing mini-length skirts and dresses.

    12. Flat Leather Slide Sandals

Introducing some of the most versatile sandals of the bunch: flat, monochromatic slide sandals in cognac brown leather.

These effortless sandals are a total must-have that you can quickly slip on and instantly look polished.

Their sleek, simple silhouette and neutral hue mean they will complement nearly anything in your wardrobe and won’t go out of style anytime soon because of their timeless design.

    13. Square-Toe Block Heel Mules

Speaking of versatile sandals, here’s another must-have pair of mules that you’re sure to get plenty of wear out of.

These black square-toe mule sandals with chunky block heels are extremely versatile thanks to their sleek and minimalist design, along with their classic black color.

Wear these sandals on summer nights spent out on the town — they’re perfect for dressing up your looks while keeping you steady on your feet.

Talk about sporty chic! I adore the elevated tweed fabrication and shiny gold hardware details on these sporty footbed sandals, giving you the best of both worlds.

While the sandals’ exterior looks luxe, they are designed for comfort, with a cushioned footbed and adjustable hook-and-loop closures.

I’m already imagining how cute these would look with a flowy satin midi skirt or dress this upcoming season.

    15. Pink Bow Mules

This sandal pick is for the coquettes.

If you are on the hunt for some ultra-feminine sandals that are going to give you a girlhood aesthetic vibe, search no further: these light pink mules with sweet bow details are a coquette’s dream shoe.

Baby pink also happens to be one of the season’s trendiest colors, and I’d argue that it’s practically a neutral — just with a girly twist.

    16. Flatform Crochet Sandals

Colorful crochet sets these flatform sandals apart from the pack, adding a bohemian vibe to a sporty silhouette.

The crochet features a classic, kitschy granny square design that will accentuate any boho-inspired looks you’re planning for the summer.

The flatform heel will give you just enough of a boost while still being comfy due to the sandal’s sporty shape with adjustable straps.

Have yourself a metallic moment with these metallic ankle-strap sandals that are going to add a luxe, shiny touch to your summer outfits.

These light gold sandals feature crisscrossing straps and a short stacked heel that is ultra-wearable.

The shiny metallic exterior of the sandals adds a subtly glam vibe and is going to look amazing when paired with gold jewelry (and a tan!).

    18. Puffy Slide Sandals

Puff it up with these fun, foam double-strap slide sandals. They have a puffy design that gives them a unique, playful look, and are super lightweight thanks to their foam construction.

Available in a variety of colors ranging from classic black and white to bold neon green, you’ll be able to find the perfect hue for you.

Wear these sandals to the pool and beach, to run errands, or around your house.

    19. Raffia Flat Slide Sandals

No material says “summertime” quite like raffia sandals — their natural, woven construction looks so beachy and summery.

These flat slide sandals look elevated thanks to their square toe and woven design, but their ease of wear makes them a no-brainer.

I mean, who doesn’t like being able to quickly slip on sandals and head out? No complicated ties or straps here!

    20. Grommet Double-Strap Slide Sandals

Looking for sandals with a bit of edge? Check out these double-strap slide sandals with metal grommets and oversized buckles.

These metal details, along with the chunky lug soles (which you typically see on combat boots), give these sandals an edgy vibe that is so cool and unexpected.

Choose from black, white, or beige, all with an equally rugged yet stylish look.

    21. Elastic Platform Sandals

I love shoes that can be worn in both dressy and casual situations (making them versatile), and these short platform sandals with elastic straps are just that.

You could just as easily wear these to brunch as you could to a casual hangout with friends.

The low platform heel works for daytime or nighttime, and the contrasting woven raffia detail gives these an extra summery vibe. Plus, the elastic straps make these sandals easy to quickly put on and take off.

Don’t want to give up your Ugg boots, slippers, and other fuzzy winter footwear now that it’s summertime? You don’t have to! Well, you don’t have to give up the soft, fuzzy feeling, at least.

These adorable footbed sandals are made with fuzzy faux fur that is going to feel oh-so-cozy on your feet. And though they feel nice and soft, the footbed still provides arch support and comfort for walking.

The best part is, you’ll be able to wear these sandals into the early fall season, since they’re going to add warmth to your feet. (With that being said, I’d probably avoid wearing these on a scorching hot summer day).

    23. Buckled Three-Strap Sandals

These buckled three-strap footbed sandals are equal parts sporty and chic, making them a top choice for your summer footwear.

The three-strap design gives them a sporty look and fit, but their sleek silhouette and buckle details keep them looking super stylish and on-trend, meaning there’s tons of ways you’ll be able to style these.

    24. Faux Leather Thong Sandals

Upgrade your plastic flip flops with their chic, faux leather counterpart: thong sandals with a short platform sole.

These look way more elevated (they are not plastic, for one) yet still have the signature laid-back vibe that flip flops do.

And you don’t have to wait until summer to wear these with shorts and dresses — they look just as great with denim and any other pants you may be wearing this spring.

    25. Flatform Slide Sandals

Slip into these flatform slide sandals, and you’ll be ready to take on all of your fun summer plans ahead.

Their minimalist silhouette means that work with nearly any aesthetic, and they come in over ten different colors!

Personally, I’m really into the kelly green hue above, which is going to provide the perfect pop of color. But neutrals are a great choice too.

These mules are made from leather for a vintage-inspired vibe that makes them look way more expensive than they actually are.

    26. Espadrille Wedge Sandals

Wedges are making a comeback this year, along with platforms, so these platform espadrille wedge sandals are right on-trend!

The woven espadrille wedges feature a weaving of different colors to match the minimal straps, creating a striking look that is sure to make you stand out in a crowd.

    27. Platform Sport Sandals

These sandals combine all the things I love in a shoe: a neutral color, a sporty design that is both functional and stylish thanks to a low platform, and comfortable details like a bouncy footbed with arch support.

Dare I say this is the ultimate summer sandal? I’m thinking yes!

And if neutral hues aren’t your thing, no worries — these come in a bunch of colors and materials, including crochet, hot pink suede, and a color-blocked design, giving you plenty of options.

What do you think of these cute sandals for summer?

Flats reign supreme as the ultimate footwear choice for countless reasons, but our top pick is their versatility. Whether paired with straight-leg ankle-length jeans or a spring dress, flats complement any outfit. They’re not exclusive to just one season; with the right styling, flats are a great option for year-round wear. Keep scrolling to shop our selects, including picks from Rothy’s, Madewell, Steve Madden, and more.
