  • ‘He has nine charges’: Woman goes on second date with man. Then she realizes he’s ‘the Ted Bundy of Charleston’

    [ad_1]

A woman was completely shocked by a man’s behavior while on a second date with him. Then, she made a very quick Facebook post about him, and discovered some horrifying criminal charges that made her question the man’s behavior entirely.

“That man will probably kill somebody,” said @mikaylacapps in a video with over 1.4 million views since posting on Nov 8, 2025.

Since posting, other women have recounted their own experiences with the “Ted Bundy of Charleston,” a man who’s continued to frighten South Carolina women without any recourse.

Mikayla’s first date with the Charleston man

“To preface this, I had gone on one date with this guy, two total,” she said in her TikTok video. “The first date [was] very fun. He was very respectful, very kind. He grabbed the check, talked a lot about his family, which I appreciated because I cherish my family as well. Just overall, no red flags.”

She said that the man continued texting her very respectfully, but things went sour toward the weekend.

“He was very adamant that we hang out [that weekend],” she recounted. “I told him, ‘Look, my mom’s in town. It’s a busy weekend. Let’s just play it by ear.’ And he was like, ‘I’ll see you Sunday at three.’”

The second date with the ‘Ted Bundy of Charleston’

Despite feeling a bit unsure about his behavior, she relented to a second date that weekend after some mild encouragement from family members. After agreeing to the date, the man suddenly started pushing for a house date.

She remembered telling him, “Hmm, I don’t really do house dates on the second date. However, I will drive to you, and we can walk somewhere from your house.”

But when she arrived at his house, he began behaving slightly irrationally. She left her keys in his house and walked with him, but noticed something was off with him. “As we’re walking [to the restaurant], he starts saying over and over again, ‘You’re so beautiful. You’re so beautiful. You’re so beautiful.’ To the point where instead of saying thank you, I started saying, like, ‘I know, I know, like you’ve gotta chill,’” she said.

As they were opening the door to the restaurant, he said, “Are you ready to do what it takes to take this all the way?” Something that baffled her, considering it was the second date. She asked him to take things at her pace, something he agreed to at the time.

But, as the date started and they got seated, his behavior got worse. He continuously asked her why she wasn’t happy to be with him, something that irked her, as she had a long week before.

After several drinks, she said his behavior became even more concerning. “He does not stop drinking. I do. I stop. He’s pounding them,” she said. “Then he starts to say things like, ‘I make more money than God,’ and then talks about his huge penis at dinner.”

She decided she wanted to leave the restaurant, but she remembered that her keys were at his house. Troubled, she decided to go back with him to grab her keys and get out. When they arrived at his house, though, he convinced her to stay for a beer.

He says something truly deranged when they get back

When they got back, the situation turned from ugly to completely horrifying. “This is where it gets [expletive] weird,” she said. “He slams his beer off to the side, grabs mine straight out of my hand, drinks it, then takes my hand, bites my pinky, bites the [expletive] out of it.”

She pulled away and said, “‘Ow, why did you do that?’ And he said, ‘Do what?’ I was like, ‘You just bit my [expletive] finger.’ He said, ‘No, I didn’t.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, you [expletive] did.’”

Then, the man made a disturbing and jarring confession. He admitted he had been charged with rape four years before. “He says, ‘Four years ago, I was charged with rape.’ Awesome. Lovely,” she said. “So I’m asking questions, I’m pressing. First question, ‘Did you do it?’ The more questions I ask, the more lies I catch him in.”

The man then admitted that two days before, he had a gun to his head and was planning on ending his life. He told her that he didn’t do it because of her.

Mikayla tried to calm the man down, but felt completely frightened. She stood up to leave, but he grabbed her arm to stop her. “He’s like, ‘Wait, why can’t we make this work? Why don’t you like me?’ Pretty self-explanatory. I’m bee-lining it. I’m out the [expletive] door,” she said. “He tries to stop me from getting in my car, and then he starts to throw a little fit and he’s like, ‘Sorry you can’t handle me. Sorry you can’t handle that I opened up to you.’ I was like, ‘You think this is my [expletive] fault?’”

@mikaylacapps if you don’t wanna listen to me yap I get it just skip to 3:10 and that’s the good stuff…. I hate it here. #fyp #foryou #datingincharleston #chs #menscareme ♬ original sound – MIKAYLA

    Escaping the situation

She locked herself in her car and drove off, heading back home. She remembered on the drive back that she let this man pick her up from there on the first date. So, when she got back, she packed her bags and headed to a friend’s place.

The man continued calling her to ask whether she got home safely. She gave him a quick reply that night to let him know she did.

The next morning, he texted her to apologize. She responded to try and keep him calm and unbothered. “I’m trying to be very nice and I’m like, ‘Look, I just don’t think that you’re quite in a head space to deal with all of this,’ you know, and I’m trying to play it cool,” she said.

    Posting to Facebook

After her extremely scary night, Mikayla decided to post to the “Are We Dating the Same Guy? Charleston” Facebook Group.

The responses she got back were even more baffling.

“I think other girls should know about it,” she said. “And when I did, the receipts came flooding and I had like 90 people [expletive] interact with it because he’s insane.”

According to her, the Facebook responses gave her mugshots and background check screenshots. “He has nine charges, four of which are sexual assault, two rape, and then two battery and assault of the third degree,” she said.

She also added that she had previously Googled his name and found nothing. “Where the [expletive] were those? Would’ve loved to know that.”

She then texted the man and told him to “leave [her] the [expletive] alone,” keeping the sweatshirt he left with her.

Mikayla warned her viewers toward the end of her video to look out for the ‘Ted Bundy of Charleston.’

Other commenters weren’t surprised by her description either. “The second you said Ted Bundy of Charleston I knew exactly who you meant,” one commenter wrote.

Another Charleston woman, Madison, said, “[I] walked into this man’s house. [It had] straight up murder vibes. I had a feeling in my stomach and RAN out on the street until I got an Uber a few streets down.”

The Mary Sue has reached out to Mikayla.

  • Horror Movie Mothers Who *Tried* Their Best

    [ad_1]

I can’t even begin to fathom how difficult it is to be a mother. I’ll say it’s a thankless job that many women absolutely thrive in, and I’ll leave it at that. It should come as no surprise then that the passion and pressure which comes with being a mom makes for great horror content.

We see it time and time again in the genre, these powerful women who – for better or worse – are just trying to be the best mother they can be.

We’ve compiled a batch of these iconic moms. Some are in protection/survival mode, some are motivated by revenge, and some are just pure helicopter parents. But they’ve all got one thing in common… Maternal instinct.

ALLENSTOWN, N.H. —  It’s one of the most well-known Doe cases in the United States, and one that has haunted amateur sleuths, podcasters, and the public for more than two decades. Now, the DNA Doe Project has determined the identity of the little girl found in a barrel in Bear Brook State Park in 2000.

Her name was Rea Rasmussen, daughter of Terry Rasmussen and Pepper Reed. Terry Rasmussen, a serial killer believed to be responsible for the Bear Brook murders, may have also murdered Pepper Reed, who went missing in the late 1970s.

  • Nicholas Cage Made Longlegs a “Deeply Personal” Role

Nicholas Cage Made Longlegs a “Deeply Personal” Role

    [ad_1]

Say what you will about Nicholas Cage, he always goes for it in whatever movie he’s in. The newly released Longlegs has kept him out of the movie’s marketing in a direct capacity, but slivers of footage and pre-release hype about his reportedly freaky look have drawn a lot of attention. And in playing the titular serial killer targeting families, Cage used parts of his own family history to inform his performance.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Cage recalled a moment from his childhood where he saw his mother Joy Vogelsang putting on Noxzema cold cream. Being two at the time, he remembers seeing her “turn her face really fast and stared at me after [putting on] the cold cream. The whiteness of [it] just really spooked me.” In the film, Longlegs has a ghastly white complexion similar to that moment with Cage’s mother, but without a clear motive. The actor doesn’t have a specific reason as for why his character is so white, but noted the “strange connection” between killer and color. “He says it’s just a force he’s aware of, and you don’t question it too much,” Cage notes. “He knows it when he sees it.”

Performance-wise, Cage previously called this a “deeply personal” role owing to his mother’s schizophrenia throughout her life. In June, he told EW about how she’d talk in poetic terms, something he also brought into Longlegs. To Cage, the character is a tragic figure because he’s “at the mercy of these voices talking to him.” Ahead of shooting in early 2023, he’d record his performance on his phone to nail the character’s “rhythms and melodies. […] By the time I got on set, it was so dialed in and became almost like performing a song or a bit of music.”

Cage’s interview also contains Longlegs spoilers, so if you haven’t seen the film yet, don’t go past the banner below.

In the film’s climax, Maika Monroe’s Harker finally comes face-to-face with Longlegs, who’s been giving dolls possessed with Satanic energy to families of girls born on specific days. It’s eventually revealed that he’d targeted her as a young girl, but was spared thanks to her mother’s intervention. The meeting where they “reunite,” and Longlegs’ suicide in front of her, is why Cage joined the film in the first place. The two actors didn’t socialize prior to that point–a move he believes was intentional from director Osgood Perkins–and he’d been really looking forward to the “explosive” encounter between their characters.

Turns out, the scene has a meta layer added onto it. Cage professed to being a fan of Monroe and her horror chops in films like It Follows and Watcher. Like with some audiences, It Follows was his first time seeing her, and he called the film “one of my favorites in the genre.” Cheekily, he also drew parallels between the adoration for his costar and Longlegs’ years-long obsession with Harker, calling her “a hero of sorts” his character finally had the pleasure of meeting.

Before that point, the movie goes out of its way to not shoot Longlegs directly. Instead, he’s glimpsed through different angles or reflections. Perkins explained it as showing how the killer left such an impression on Harker as a child, even as she supressed that memory. He’s there, in a sense, said Perkins, but he’s “totally not there, but [also] totally there.”

From the pre-release buzz, Cage is delivering a pretty unnerving (complimentary!) performance in Longlegs that’s enough to get folks to see it in droves. After seeing him do so many roles over the decades, it’s nice to know that he can find new ways to freak people the hell out.

  • Nicolas Cage Is So Scary in Longlegs, He Freaked Out His Co-Star

Nicolas Cage Is So Scary in Longlegs, He Freaked Out His Co-Star

    [ad_1]

Longlegs hasn’t yet hit theaters—July 12 is the big day—but the creatively creepy marketing alone is enough to give a person nightmares. The latest trick in Neon’s big book of scare tactics is to release audio charting Maika Monroe’s actual heartbeat from the first time she saw Nicolas Cage in character as the titular serial killer.

Sure, it’s a big moment, as Monroe’s FBI agent character is finally able to confront her long-sought quarry, and probably some of the palpitations are due to the pressure the actor was feeling about engaging in such a tense, pivotal scene opposite an Oscar winner. But you also have to assume that some of it was the fact that he’s just so agonizingly off-putting. Check out the video here, which helpfully pastes a black box over Cage’s face to avoid spoilers.

As writer-director Osgood Perkins explained in an interview with io9, he didn’t actually have any input into Longlegs‘ marketing campaign, though he’s been very pleased with the way it captures the eerie spirit of his film. He also talked about how Monroe and Cage actually only share one scene together—the scene you see excerpted above—in a sequence that maximizes the contrast not just between their characters, but also their acting styles. She’s more reserved and interior; he’s well, he’s Nic Cage. “I was conscious of the fact that I had two very counterweight, counterbalancing energies,” Perkins said. “Luckily, I was able narratively to keep them apart … then when they do connect, it’s a very charged moment. And so their opposite charges work even better.”

So charged, apparently, that Monroe had a very physical reaction to Cage’s appearance. And if a trained performer got such a shock from seeing him, imagine how movie audiences are going to feel! You can push the limits of your own circulatory system, and possibly your ability not to pee your pants in terror, when Longlegs arrives this Friday, July 12.

British nurse guilty of murdering seven babies, making her UK’s worst child serial killer in recent times | CNN

    [ad_1]

    CNN
     —

A British nurse has been found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill six others at the hospital where she worked, making her the country’s worst baby serial killer in recent times.

Lucy Letby, 33, harmed babies in her care by injecting air into their blood and stomachs, overfeeding them with milk, physically assaulting them and poisoning them with insulin, Manchester Crown Court in northern England heard.

Police found a trove of handwritten notes while searching Letby’s house during their investigation, including one that read: “I am evil I did this.”

She secretly attacked 13 babies on the neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester hospital between 2015 and 2016, Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said in a statement.

Her intention was to kill the babies while duping her colleagues into believing there was a natural cause of death, prosecutors argued.

Doctors at the hospital began to notice a steep rise in the number of babies who were dying or unexpectedly collapsing, the court heard.

But concerns raised by consultants over the increased mortality rate of patients under Letby’s care were initially dismissed by the hospital’s management, the UK’s PA Media news agency reported.

In September 2016, Letby filed a grievance against her employers after she was relocated from the hospital’s neonatal ward. She was put back on clerical duties after two male triplets died and a baby boy collapsed on three days in a row in June 2016.

Later that year, she was notified of the allegations against her by the Royal College of Nursing union, but the complaint was later resolved in her favor. Doctors were asked to formally apologize to Letby in writing.

She was scheduled to return to the neonatal department in March 2017, but her return did not take place. The hospital trust contacted the police, who opened an investigation.

Nurse said ‘I killed them’ in handwritten notes

In 2018 and 2019, Letby was arrested twice by police in connection with their investigation, PA said. She was arrested again in November 2020.

Authorities found notes Letby had written during searches of her address.

“I don’t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough to care for them,” she wrote in one memo, adding in another, “I am a horrible evil person” and in capital letters “I am evil I did this.”

Pascale Jones of the CPS called Letby’s actions a “complete betrayal of the trust placed in her.”

“Lucy Letby sought to deceive her colleagues and pass off the harm she caused as nothing more than a worsening of each baby’s existing vulnerability,” she said.

“In her hands, innocuous substances like air, milk, fluids – or medication like insulin – would become lethal. She perverted her learning and weaponised her craft to inflict harm, grief and death.”

Victims’ families said they “may never truly know why this happened.”

“To lose a baby is a heartbreaking experience that no parent should ever have to go through,” a joint statement said.

“But to lose a baby or to have a baby harmed in these particular circumstances is unimaginable,” the statement added.

“Justice has been served and the nurse who should have been caring for our babies has been found guilty of harming them.

“But this justice will not take away from the extreme hurt, anger and distress that we have all had to experience.

“We are heartbroken, devastated, angry and feel numb.”

Letby will be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on August 21.

     —

Nepal’s top court on Wednesday ordered the release from jail of Charles Sobhraj, the infamous French serial killer who inspired the award-nominated TV series “The Serpent.”

The court made the decree on the grounds of his age and health, according to the court’s spokesperson Bimal Paudel.

Sobhraj, aged 78, had been serving a life sentence in a jail in the Kathmandu suburb of Bhaktapur for killing two tourists in 1975, but many of his alleged murders remain unsolved.

A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court ordered the government to release him immediately and deport to “his country” within 15 days, the spokesperson added.

Sobhraj is suffering from a heart disease and needs open-heart surgery, the court said.

Born in French-administered Saigon, Vietnam, Sobhraj was first jailed in Paris in 1963 for burglary but went on to be accused of committing crimes in a list of countries: France, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Thailand and Malaysia.

He also escaped from prison in several countries, and his propensity for evading the authorities earned him the nickname “The Serpent.”

Sobhraj eventually admitted to at least 12 killings between 1972 and 1976, and hinted at others to interviewers before retracting the confessions ahead of further court cases, according to his biographers. His true number of victims is unknown.

In 2014, a Nepali court convicted Sobhraj for the 1975 murder of Canadian tourist Laurent Carrière, handing down a 20-year sentence.

The 2021 BBC/Netflix drama called “The Serpent” is based on the story of Sobhraj’s alleged murders. It tells how for years, he evaded the law across Asia as he allegedly drugged, robbed and murdered backpackers along the so-called “hippie trail” – while former Dutch diplomat Herman Knippenberg worked with authorities to capture him.

Simone Biles Blasts Jeffrey Dahmer Costumes Ahead Of Halloween

    [ad_1]

Simone Biles has a message of caution for anyone thinking about dressing up as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer for Halloween.

Following the release of Netflix’s true crime drama “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” last month, some people have become inspired to put together costumes of the “Milwaukee Cannibal,” who was convicted of killing and dismembering 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. Most of Dahmer’s victims were gay and people of color.

With Halloween around the corner, Dahmer-related merchandise has been spotted on platforms like eBay. The e-commerce company placed a ban on sales of the costumes on its site, and sellers are banned from listing items that “promote or glorify violence,” according to BuzzFeed.

On Tuesday, Biles expressed her disapproval of the trend on Twitter, and urged people to put the costumes “back in the closet.”

“Im just gon go head and say it, put the jeffrey dahmer costumes back in the closet,” the star gymnast wrote. “We ain’t having it!!!!!!”

Biles isn’t alone in voicing her disdain on Twitter for the controversial costuming choice.

“It should be legal to kick every person in the shin who wears a Dahmer costume this Halloween,” wrote Kirk Medas, who appeared on MTV’s “Floribama Shore.”

“The amount of Jeffrey Dahmer costumes this Halloween is gonna be disgusting,” another Twitter commenter said.

“If i see ANYONE dress up as jeffery dahmer for halloween hands will be thrown i’m not sorry,” another user wrote.

Evan Peters plays Dahmer on the Netflix limited drama, which has achieved massive success, becoming the streaming titan’s second-most popular English-language series of all time. The series also raked up more hours viewed on the platform than any English-language show except the fourth season of “Stranger Things.”

Additionally, “Dahmer” accumulated 496 million hours viewed in just 12 days, with Netflix estimating that at least 56 million households streamed the series in less than two weeks.

Co-created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, the series has been subject to criticism and backlash over its approach to the families of Dahmer’s victims. The real Dahmer died in 1994 at age 34, after being beaten by Christopher Scarver, a fellow inmate at Wisconsin’s Columbia Correctional Institution.

The mother of Anthony Hughes, one of Dahmer’s victims, has spoken out in protest of the Netflix show.

“I don’t see how they can do that,” Shirley Hughes, Tony’s mother, told The Guardian earlier this month. “I don’t see how they can use our names and put stuff out like that out there.”

Rita Isbell, the sister of Errol Lindsey, one of the men Dahmer killed, also spoke to Insider about the show last month.

“I was never contacted about the show,” Isbell said. “I feel like Netflix should’ve asked if we mind or how we felt about making it. They didn’t ask me anything. They just did it.”
