    The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a driver was found in nearby bushes after a hit-and-run crash in Brevard County.Troopers responded to the crash involving a Toyota Corolla and a semitruck along I-95 in Titusville just before 2 a.m. Sunday.Troopers said the 32-year-old driver of the Corolla was located in the bushes across from his car.The driver, along with a 23-year-old passenger, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.The driver of the semitruck was unharmed, and the crash remains under investigation.Troopers said charges are pending against the driver of the Corolla.

    The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a five-vehicle crash Saturday night on the Florida Turnpike that involved an FHP patrol car and sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike, south of State Road 417 in Orlando, Orange County, FHP said. According to preliminary crash details, a semitrailer with a trailer was traveling northbound in the center inside lane when it attempted to change lanes, sideswiping a 2005 Toyota Camry.A 2004 Dodge pickup traveling behind the semi-truck and Camry swerved to the left, striking the left side of the Camry.The pickup then rotated and collided with the left front of the semitrailer, began overturning across the northbound lanes, and collided with the top of a Florida Highway Patrol marked patrol car parked on the outside shoulder, according to FHP. The accident report said the pickup continued overturning, collided with a concrete barrier, and went down an embankment.The initial impact with the pickup caused the patrol car to be pushed into the travel lanes, where it collided with a 2024 Buick Enclave.FHP said the trooper was standing outside his patrol car when the crashes occurred.He darted away, briefly fell, and was later transported to the hospital with minor injuries.The driver of the pickup was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The drivers of the semitrailer, Camry, and Buick were not injured and remained on the scene.

    Update, 5:08 p.m.: All lanes are reopened, but the offramp to South 56th Street remains closed, WSDOT reported on X.

    Update, 4:59 p.m.: From WSDOT on X: “Two left lanes on NB I-5 at S 56th St. in Tacoma are now open. A tow has been called for the extinguished semi. It will take time to open more lanes and clear the scene. Expect continued slow going on NB I-5 approaching Tacoma.“

    Original post: Northbound Interstate 5 at South 56th Street in Tacoma is closed by a truck fire Monday afternoon.

    The incident began about 4:10 p.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

    “All lanes of NB I-5 are blocked for a semi truck fire at S 56th St. in Tacoma. Use alternate routes while crews respond to the scene,” the agency reported on X about 4:24 p.m.

    Northbound traffic was backed up past Bridgeport Way at 4:45 p.m.,, and southbound traffic was dragging past the scene, according to the WSDOT Travel Center Map.

    Several 911 callers described the moments a semi flipped onto its side and landed on State Route 4 in Dayton on Sunday.

    As reported on News Center at 6:00, the crash happened in the area of Interstate 75 and State Route 4 around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

    The highway reopened just before 4 p.m. on Sunday.

    Dayton Police said in a social media post that a FedEx truck flipped onto its side.

    The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office also confirmed to News Center 7 that they responded to the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.

    News Center 7 obtained several 911 calls from a public records request. The callers claimed to have seen the crash when it happened.

    “It rolled down,” the caller said. “It rolled down the hill onto State Route 4.”

    Sacramento bicyclist killed in semi-truck crash

    (FOX40.COM) — A bicyclist is dead after a fatal crash with a semi-truck on Monday afternoon, according to the West Sacramento Police Department.

    At around 2:26 p.m., WSPD responded to the area of Industrial Boulevard near Stone Boulevard for a report of a traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a semi-truck. When officers arrived,  they said the West Sacramento Fire Department was tending to the bicyclist. Despite their efforts, the victim, a man in his early twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Police said the semi-truck driver was cooperative and “there is no indication of the driver being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”

    Roadways were temporarily closed, but have since reopened.

    KANDIYOHI COUNTY, Minn. — Two semi-truck drivers were injured in separate crashes after their trucks, each filled with sugar beets, rolled in central Minnesota. 

    Both drivers were sent to the hospital, but the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office says their injuries are not considered life threatening. 

    Authorities say one rollover happened Saturday just after 11 a.m. in Lake Lillian Township, in the area of County Road 8 and Kandi-Renville Road. A 23-year-old man was driving that truck and was airlifted to the hospital.

    The other crash happened around 30 minutes later in Edwards Township, around two hours west of Minneapolis. A 41-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the hospital. 

    The sheriff’s office is asking drivers to be aware of increased traffic during the fall harvest season. 

    The Minnesota Department of Transportation says there were 446 crashes involving farm equipment in Minnesota from 2021 through 2023. Eight people were killed and 171 were injured in those crashes.

    PETALUMA — Petaluma police said Saturday morning that a stolen semi-truck with a 40-foot trailer took police on a chase Thursday night.

    Officers responded to a report of a stolen semi at around 9:26 p.m. in the area of North McDowell Boulevard and Professional Drive. The truck was discovered traveling northbound on North McDowell Boulevard at Transport Way. Police identified the suspect as 41-year-old Glenn Hopkins of San Francisco.

    After an attempt to commence a traffic stop, Hopkins accelerated the truck to approximately 30-35 mph, instigating a pursuit. The suspect appeared to have trouble maintaining control of the truck, as he swerved across the entire road and hit the center median, posing a risk to public safety.

    Petaluma PD followed Hopkins as he turned eastbound on Corona Road, where he ran over the curb and sidewalk, and struck a tree and road sign.

    Hopkins then went southbound on Sonoma Mountain Parkway before finally stopping as he turned onto Colombard Road.

    The suspect was detained and transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility. He was charged and booked for felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading of a police officer with wanton disregard for safety and misdemeanor hit and run causing property damage.

    5 hospitalized after Amtrak train car derails in Ventura County crash

    A train car derailed and five people were hospitalized after an Amtrak train crashed into a parked semi truck, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

    The crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. near Sand Canyon Road and East Los Angeles Avenue, also known as California 118, in the unincorporated community of Somis.

    The train, an Amtrak Pacific SurfLiner headed south toward Los Angeles, crashed into a semi that was stopped on the level grade railroad crossing, according to VCFD spokesman Andy VanSciver.

    Five people were injured in the crash, which involved six train cars, though only the lead car derailed.

    Four of the hospitalized victims suffered minor injuries, while the fifth suffered minor to moderate injuries, according to authorities. The train was carrying 90 passengers and five train employees.

    California 118 was closed between Balcom Canyon Road and Somis Road, also known as California 34, and was expected to remain shut down until the morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
