“Selling the OC”‘s Party Planner Spills the Tea on Gio’s Life-Size Ice Sculpture

When tuning in to the second season of “Selling the OC,” we didn’t expect the real estate to get overshadowed by a couple of ice sculptures. Then again, we’ve never seen ice sculptures quite like this. After cast member and realtor Gio Helou hit $100 million in sales, he turned to Kat Johann, event planner and owner of Parties by the Sea, to help throw a party in his honor (as one does). The celebration included the usual pleasantries — a surprise boat entrance, gorgeous flowers, and plenty of dramatic confrontations from the rest of the cast — but there was one detail even Helou himself couldn’t have dreamt up: a towering ice sculpture that looked just like him.

“The cast members were talking to the sculpture as if it were Gio.”

“I surprised Gio with the idea of making a life-size sculpture of himself. He, of course, loved the idea, and the best part was the cast’s reactions when they walked in and were completely blown away,” Johann tells POPSUGAR. According to her, the final creation, modeled in Helou’s image, was almost as tall as he is. (He stands at about 5’10”, for the record.) “There were several segments of the show where the cast members were talking to the sculpture as if it were Gio,” Johann says. “It was a lot of work but ended up being so beautiful, and the ice sculpture was the highlight!”

The “Selling Sunset” franchise has a peculiar prowess for lavish parties, setting the bar high with an especially controversial “Burgers and Botox” broker’s open and a zebra-friendly engagement party courtesy of the iconic Christine Quinn. With a new cast and plenty of ground left to cover, “Selling the OC” certainly had big shoes to fill, but Johann hasn’t backed down from the challenge.

She was originally tapped to plan the 100 Million Dollar Sale party just one week before it filmed for Netflix. No pressure. In addition to the massive Helou doppelgänger — which doubled as a place to hold glasses of champagne — Johann also designed a custom ice luge for the cast to take shots off of, carving “Selling the OC” and “Gio’s 100 Million” into the sides. Will “Selling the OC” bring the ice into season three? We can’t say for sure just yet. But watch for Johann next season, and rest assured that more spectacular parties are already underway.

  • A Timeline of Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland’s Relationship

A Timeline of Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland’s Relationship

    [ad_1]

Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland went their separate ways in September 2022 after two years of marriage. In a joint statement shared on Instagram, the two revealed their “difficult decision to separate,” which they noted was “made with love and mutual respect for one another.” Since then, the two have remained mum about their split, though Snow may have hinted at it in a May 2023 interview with Bustle.

Although she didn’t cite a specific incident, the 37-year-old actor revealed, “In the past year I went through probably the hardest mental health challenge I’ve ever faced.” She continued, “In one day, in a matter of hours, my life turned completely upside down. I was blindsided and every thing I thought I knew, held sacred and truly trusted in my life was completely different.”

Luckily, she had people around her to help her through. “Thank god for my friends,” she said. “I don’t know if I would have made it without them. They reminded me who I was and the things I stood for. I used all the tools I knew. All of them.”

Snow stole fans’ hearts as Chloe in the Pitch Perfect franchise and again in 2019’s “Someone Great,” in which she played cynical Blair Helms. Her ex Stanaland then stepped into the spotlight as one of the Oppenheim Group real-estate agents in Netflix’s “Selling the OC,” which premiered on Aug. 24, 2022. The “Selling Sunset” spinoff follows the lives and coastal luxe real estate behind Jason Oppenheim’s Newport Beach, CA, brokerage.

During season one, Stanaland found himself wrapped up in an office scandal with one of his costars who attempted to kiss him during the show, though the incident wasn’t caught on camera. However, it did put a strain on his and Snow’s marriage, per a source that told People in September that the ordeal “broke them.” Thus, leading the couple to announce their separation.

Snow and Stanaland began dating sometime in 2018 after the latter slid into Snow’s DMs. For the most part, they’ve kept their relationship out of the public eye, that is until Stanaland became a cast member of “Selling the OC.”

Ahead, look back at all of the pair’s relationship milestones prior to their breakup.

Tyler Stanaland Brings ‘Most Drama’ To ‘Selling The OC’ Season 2, Cast Says: ‘Worse Than All The Women In The Office Combined’

    By Becca Longmire.

There’s, unsurprisingly, going to be plenty of drama in “Selling The OC” season 2.

Some of the cast recently chatted to ET Canada’s Keshia Chanté ahead of the “Selling Sunset” spinoff’s season 2 premiere on Sept. 8.

Brandi Marshall, Kayla Cardona, Alexandra Rose, Sean Palmieri, Gio Helou and Lauren Shortt teased an eventful upcoming season, with Chanté questioning who brought the most drama.

Palmieri and Cardona said Tyler Stanaland, who was previously married to Brittany Snow. It was reported the pair had finalized their divorce in July after tying the knot in March 2020.

Palmieri told us, “But it seems like the drama revolves around Tyler, like starting it in a way. But then, like, him being, like, ‘I don’t want to talk about it’ yet he’s doing it in front of everyone to see. It’s a very manipulative… I don’t know. I’ll keep [zips mouth].”

Cardona added, “Well, let’s just put it this way. Tyler’s worse than all the women in the office combined.”

Stanaland has been linked to cast member Alex Hall, with Chanté questioning how the rest of them would feel if they were to become an actual couple.

Marshall insisted, “As long as it’s not messy.”

Cardona added, “We don’t really care. Here’s the thing. At the end of the day, we don’t care what they’re doing. It’s how, like, where they are, first of all, you don’t do it in the office. Like, there’s things, it’s how you portray it. You know, like, you have to respect that. You’re also an extension of every single one of us.”

Marshall said, “And you’re in the limelight, people are talking about what we’re doing, what places we’re flying to together and things like that.

“And that was my whole thing at the beginning of the season, just about, hey, people are talking about all of this. And instead of them talking about our listings, they’re talking about that. And to me, that’s an issue.”

See what Stanaland had to say about the rumoured love triangle with him, Hall and Polly Brindle in his chat with ET Canada alongside cast members below.
