  • Martha Stewart Is Having a Fashion Renaissance, From Thigh-High Slits to Platforms

Martha Stewart Is Having a Fashion Renaissance, From Thigh-High Slits to Platforms

    [ad_1]

Martha Stewart is a tastemaker in her own right who has refused to abide by trends throughout the years. From her ’90s cottagecore days (for which there is a dedicated Instagram account) to her recent fashion resurgence as a Sports Illustrated cover model and Fashion Week front-row staple, she stays true to her favorite brands, classic accessories, and innate sense of glamour. At 82, Stewart told Vogue that her mantra is “less is more for a lot of women who are getting older.” But we’d argue that she’s long been a pioneer for polished and refined dressing with minimal logos.

Stewart counts Brunello Cucinelli and Dennis Basso suiting, Max Mara dresses, Clergerie platform shoes, and Hermès leather shirts as her wardrobe essentials, telling Interview that she maintains a growing collection in the latter category. “They’re the most wearable, beautiful, best-made clothing,” she said at the spring 2024 runway show, where she debuted a brand-new cashmere jacket from the Parisian house and toted a vintage Birkin from 2001.

Stewart also keeps her old Armani suits in rotation, though she’s also not afraid to try something new. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue stylist and costume designer Paolo Nieddu told POPSUGAR that the entrepreneur was more than willing to test out swimwear from Zimmermann and Saint Laurent on set. “Martha has a fabulous décolletage, and as a former print model, she knows how to wear clothes — not the other way around,” he said after working with her.

From the ombré sequined Jenny Packham gown she wore to celebrate her cover, to the sparkling tweed pantsuit she teamed with gold jewelry and metallic heels for an event in NYC, scroll to admire Stewart’s notable #OOTDs in recent history, some of which were documented from the entryway of her building — Martha Stewart, she’s just like us.

  • Anitta Shows Off Major Underboob in a Cutout Bodysuit For “Mil Veces”

Anitta is no stranger to revealing lingerie and skin-baring cutouts, so it’s no surprise she brought the heat to her official music video for “Mil Veces,” released on Thursday, Oct. 19. The 30-year-old musician had been teasing stills from the Jackson Tisi-directed production, which features Måneskin’s Damiano David as her love interest. While there’s a whole lot of making out as cause for distraction (on the bed, in the shower, and on a chair), Anitta’s looks shine through and make for a memorable aesthetic consisting of chainmail tops, strappy bikinis, cutout bodysuits, lacy lingerie, and distressed denim. She wears large, silver hoop earrings throughout, with her red hair parted at the center and left down in messy waves. The outfits that seem to get the most camera time include a GCDS logo bralette teamed with belted and studded jean shorts and a chunky blue heart pendant choker, plus the gold halter and butt-skimming pants she’s seen in from the window of a red car.

Often working with stylist André Philipe, Anitta’s worn everything from a lace-up sweater set for an appearance on “Hot Ones” to a controversial leather bra that doubled as a choker and was completed with a matching thong, proving she’s already mastered the hip cleavage trend. Also infamous to her wardrobe? Her butt cutouts in this Mugler dress at the 2022 American Music Awards. Anitta also pulled off the towering, 7-inch Marc Jacobs Kiki boots on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet with ease.

Priyanka Chopra Reveals Why She’s Been Wearing So Many Crop Tops

    [ad_1]

As an award-winning actor, producer, winner of the Miss World 2000 pageant, and mom to daughter Malti, Priyanka Chopra is well-suited to teach a master class. Marshalls tapped her for its first-ever Good Stuff Social Club program, which will take place in NYC on Oct. 20 and 21, and Chopra will lead a course called “Lessons For Getting the Good Stuff in Life.”

“I create space in my life for me to be able to wear my attitude, which could be good, bad, or ugly.”

The 41-year-old star will discuss everything from self-worth and wellness to financial planning and career development at the free, two-day event. At the ticketed session, for which sign-ups are on a first-come, first-serve basis, Chopra will be styling an outfit from Marshalls. “Marshalls has amazing clothes and such a variety of brands,” she told POPSUGAR over the phone. “I’m going to find something that makes me feel powerful, stylish, fashion forward, but at the same time confident.”

One trend that makes Chopra feel confident is crop tops, though at one point, she was hesitant to wear abbreviated shirts. “I was training for a movie recently, and I had a reintroduction with my abs after a long time,” she explained. “I hadn’t been confident about wearing crop tops and stuff like that.” However, she ultimately had a change of heart. “I wasn’t sure when I was walking out the door, but I was like, ‘Alright, I’m going to push myself.’ And then eventually I turned around and added that into my wardrobe a lot more.”

In an exclusive interview with POPSUGAR ahead, she elaborates on her partnership with Marshalls and explains why her personal style journey has first and foremost been based on feeling.

J Lo Wows in a Boob-Cutout Halter Top With an Embellished Chain

    [ad_1]

In addition to being an in-demand actress, singer, performer, and designer, Jennifer Lopez is enjoying her role as Intimissmi‘s global ambassador. Announcing the role in a press release in March 2023, the Italian intimates company said they chose to work with Lopez because she embodies women empowerment and “modern sexiness.”

In the accompanying photo shoot, for the Spring 2023 campaign, Lopez modeled the Pretty Flowers Sofia balconette bra in flame scarlet, digital turquoise, and valentine pink. It comes embroidered with ivory blooms across the lightly-padded mesh cups and along the elegant trim. The coordinates include a matching see-through lace panty, though Lopez mixed and matched various other satin-silk pajama pieces in the Chris Colls-lensed photos. The shoot inspiration? A dreamy Italian summer evoked through bold colors that represent Positano.

Lopez also commented on her partnership with Intimissimi in the release, stating: “I love Italy – the people, the fashion, the culture, the food and the storied history. When I discovered Intimissimi, I was immediately drawn to their precious silks, romantic lace, beautiful cuts, flattering fits and intricate designs. I’m proud to be an Intimissimi woman and honored that they view me as someone who emulates their own qualities of confident, lively and strong.”

She wears the brand for personal photo shoots as well — both to tease her upcoming projects and to show off tributes to husband Affleck, such as her “Mrs” nameplate necklace that she styled with a black set back in November of 2022.

Most recently, she debuted a co-designed capsule with the brand titled “This Is Me…Now” as a nod to her upcoming album of the same name. The collection, which includes a black halter cutout bra, lace teddies embellished with chains, and silk camisole sets, represents Lopez’s “evolution,” according to a press release.

  • Why Did Julia Fox Wear a See-Through Garment Bag as a Dress? We Explore the Options

Why Did Julia Fox Wear a See-Through Garment Bag as a Dress? We Explore the Options

    [ad_1]

Julia Fox is nothing if not consistent with her jaw-dropping outfits, but with her latest look, she challenges the notion of clothing itself. She recently stepped out in London at the Ham Yard Hotel to promote her memoir “Down the Drain” while wearing a clear garment bag around her neck. And the bag-turned-dress displayed a freshly-pressed shirt on a hanger. The Figura Services design hails from the brand’s fall 2023 collection and was presented similarly on the runway, albeit accessorized with a security tag earring, security seal shoes, and knee socks.

Working with her stylist Briana Andalore, Fox, 33, finished the look with white boxers, pointed-toe knee-high boots, and a geometric shoulder bag. Hairstylist Ben Talbott, who provided red ombré curls, shared a photo of Fox on Instagram Stories and described her aesthetic as “vegas brothel cowgirl chić.” Isamaya Ffrench complemented the tones with a mahogany matte lip, highlighter, and blush.

The ensemble could be telling any number of stories, with the most simple being that Fox’s fashion statements will never fail to push the envelope. The most complex? Perhaps she doesn’t want to be known solely for her revealing looks, so she’s choosing to bypass clothing altogether. When Figura Services designers Celeste and Valerio created the piece, they wanted to tap into a “disturbing,” or maybe even dehumanizing feeling. That may not be Fox’s intent, but she certainly is challenging the very definition of clothing here — and also maybe defying gravity because how is the dress staying in place?

In an Oct. 18 episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the actress and host channeled Fox’s style in a skirt crafted from neck ties and Marc Jacobs 7-inch platform Kiki boots as a nod to the “Uncut Gems” star’s headline-making corset worn in May 2023. The onscreen outfit swap was also further proof that whatever Fox wears (or doesn’t wear), we’re all paying attention.

Ahead, scroll to see a few different angles of the Figura Services garment bag, both on Fox and on the runway.

Watch out! This post contains spoilers.

The “Love Is Blind” season five reunion aired on Netflix on Oct. 15, revealing the status of every couple you’re curious about, as well as the backstory behind some of the show’s excessive drama. And the “Love Is Blind” reunion outfits didn’t disappoint, from Lydia Velez Gonzalez‘s plunging velvet gown that emitted confidence and sophistication to Taylor Rue’s golden corset halter dress.

Stacy Snyder, who did end up choosing a wedding dress for her nuptials to Izzy Zapata, although their relationship didn’t work out in the end, picked a burgundy velvet cutout number from Bronx and Banco, which featured a giant ab window and thigh-high slit that drew attention to her hip cleavage. Needless to say, the design combined numerous trends, and she accessorized with chunky jewelry from Alexis Bittar. Even host Vanessa Lachey made a fierce statement in a fuchsia Amanda Uprichard gown replete with a wavy “puzzle” effect neckline. We’re used to seeing Lachey in plenty of striking looks during season milestones, but this outfit stands out from her season five wardrobe.

There were also some revenge dress moments worth noting. Aaliyah Cosby, who unwittingly found herself in a love triangle with Uche Okoroha and Gonzalez, made quite the statement at the reunion in a strapless champagne gown with a hip-high slit. Rue’s aforementioned golden corset halter dress also turned heads and perfectly complemented her full face of makeup — a strong visual response to JP’s makeup-shaming comments.

Ahead, you can get details about all of the dresses that are still available to shop, then learn more about how the cast chooses their engagement rings and wedding dresses on the Netflix hit series.

  • Julia Fox’s Multi-Cutout Corset Is Really Just Strips of Metal

Julia Fox’s Multi-Cutout Corset Is Really Just Strips of Metal

    [ad_1]

Julia Fox has managed to construct a wardrobe more polarizing than that of anyone else in Hollywood — including Lady Gaga. Working with stylist Briana Andalore, the 33-year-old “Uncut Gems” star and new author of “Down the Drain” has cemented a moment in pop culture with her kitschy street style outfits gawked at by fans and fellow runway show attendees alike. Sitting front row at Fashion Week presentations such as Wiederhoeft, where she memorably rocked both a wedding gown and poodle dress; Diesel, where she outfitted her son Valentino in matching denim; and Naomi Campbell’s PrettyLittleThing collection debut, where she arrived in nothing but chains and a patent leather trench coat, Fox is nothing if not courageous, pushing the sartorial envelope wherever she goes.

Though she rose to fame while dating Kanye West, and simultaneously stepping into the spotlight at Paris Haute Couture Week in 2022, Fox is a model, actor, and artist in her own right. She recently partnered with Victoria’s Secret on The Tour ’23, fronting the newest iteration of the show in a plunging yellow minidress designed by Lagos-based designer Bubu Ogisi. She also wore the above metal-plated corset gown and sheer, gauzy gloves to the “Something You Said Last Night” premiere in New York on Sept. 22, celebrating her role as executive producer on the film. While Fox has brought life to more divisive fashion trends than we can count, we’re spotlighting some of her most noteworthy ensembles ahead. • I Attempted to Wear Olivia Rodrigo’s Infamously Tall, 7-Inch Platform Boots

I Attempted to Wear Olivia Rodrigo’s Infamously Tall, 7-Inch Platform Boots

    [ad_1]

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Dua Lipa, Olvia Rodrigo, and Lady Gaga all posed in the Marc Jacobs Kiki platform boots, and upon first glance, my reaction was always the same: I wonder what it’s like to actually walk in those 7-inch heels? Well, reader, I tried the vertiginous heels on myself and at the most non-opportune time, too. I had just completed a 16-mile run before stepping into these monstrous shoes, which might have been foolish, but I had no other choice since I’m in the midst of training for a marathon. Nevertheless, I’m always up for a challenge, and I’d like to think strapping into these puppies with a giant blister on my big toe qualifies as such.

It is a costume shoe built for a celebrity — one who is spotted by body guards or assistants, and employs a driver to transport them from door to door.

To be candid, wearing this version of the infamous Kiki, which first debuted on the runway in 2016 and boasts a 4-inch platform (you do the math), is not easy. Though they’re equipped with five buckle straps, the thin strips of leather across the upper and around the ankle are no match for the 5-pound blocks they’re dragging along. The Kiki style is so tall (the tallest in Marc Jacobs platform history), that once you’re standing in them, the inevitable realization hits you: if you were to fall, you’d twist and probably break your ankle. Upon recognizing that fact, I immediately reached for support from the wall beside me — and also the ceiling. Because my tiny attic apartment would have it that, in the Kiki, I was a giant whose head skimmed the roof.

Ahead, see how I styled this viral, celebrity-favorite shoe, despite my fear of tripping and squashing one of my cats. Then, keep scrolling to shop it for yourself.

  • Billie Eilish Re-Launches the Fishnet Trend in a Big Way For 2023

Billie Eilish Re-Launches the Fishnet Trend in a Big Way For 2023

    [ad_1]

Fishnet tights are a fashion trend that first emerged with flappers in the 1920s. Later, they were used to achieve the grunge aesthetic in the ’90s. During that iteration, Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, and Paris Hilton sported them underneath miniskirts and baggy, low-rise cargo pants to give their outfits a rockstar edge. Today, it’s safe to say Billie Eilish is one of the main faces of the new fishnets trend, styling hers with knee pads, camouflage hot pants, and sheer biker shorts, whether she’s onstage or posing for a photoshoot. For Eilish, 21, the resulting aesthetic is sporty and flirty all at once, with subtle sex appeal thanks to the skin-baring elements. She generally opts for baby tees or oversize jerseys on top.

Other celebrities are getting in on the fun as well. Nicola Peltz Beckham, 28, dressed up for mother-in-law Victoria Beckham’s Paris Fashion Week runway show, wearing fishnet tights which she pulled above her low-rise pencil skirt. With the addition of a black bandeau top, the clear focus was on her tights, which added dimension to her sleek and refined basics. Kourtney Kardashian Barker took things in the opposite direction with her new Boohoo campaign — her fishnets were ripped with holes and teamed with knee-high leather biker boots for a tough moto moment. Finally, Emma Chamberlain played with unexpected layering at the Maison Margiela show by slipping fishnets over a crisp white bodysuit, instead of the other way around.

Keep scrolling to see how celebs are working fishnets into their wardrobes this season. Then, explore other bold style statements that fit the same cool, rocker vibe such as undone pants, hip cleavage, and even no pants at all.

  • Cardi B Avoided a Wardrobe Malfunction With This TikTok Hack, and I Think It’s Genius

Cardi B Avoided a Wardrobe Malfunction With This TikTok Hack, and I Think It’s Genius

    [ad_1]

It’s not every day that Cardi B (or any celebrity, for that matter) is left with no other choice but to utilize a TikTok hack in order to avoid a wardrobe malfunction. But when the 30-year-old musician was on a plane without the assistance of stylist Kollin Carter, she resorted to the latest viral trend. Cardi’s makeup artist and former publicist Patientce Foster acted as her glam squad mid-flight, cinching in her metallic spaghetti-strap dress by wrapping a hair tie around a disc at the back to eliminate some of the excess fabric.

Most TikTok users demonstrate the hack by turning their dresses inside out. Next, they take any circular object, from a bangle to an oversize hoop earring, and place it right where they want the material to become more formfitting. Double-twisting a hair tie around the item gathers the fabric at that exact spot, and once the dress is repositioned properly on the body, there’s a resulting ruched effect in the area. However, it actually makes for a pretty clean detail, and it definitely looks better than a makeshift job done with a needle and thread. Of course, the bonus is that it only takes about 30 seconds to pull off when you’re in a pinch.

Upon reading Cardi’s caption before I pressed play on her X video — “would you try this??? Teamwork make the dream work!!!” — I have to admit, I was skeptical. Maybe it’s because I find emulating TikTok hacks (at least to the same level of visual perfection) to be challenging. The only trick that’s ever worked for me was buttoning my jeans through a belt loop to tighten the waist, and I’ve gained some weight since then, so achieving the off-kilter, deconstructed denim look is no longer necessary, and certainly not possible — at least with that pair.

But the dress-cinching hack actually feels doable and has me wondering how I can manipulate some of my pieces to achieve a different style entirely, even if the design I’m working with already fits. As one user shows below, you can also employ this trick at the front, on either side, or to raise the hemline of your long maxi and perhaps give way to a shoe moment. For example, I could easily bring my Carrie Bradshaw Norma Kamali dress to knee-length height, especially since it’s already got shirred sides. You could probably also maneuver it at the bust, just to alter the shape of the neckline. While this TikTok hack obviously appears different depending on the dress, it’s safe to say it helped Cardi achieve her signature curve-enhancing aesthetic. She opted for voluminous curls and side-swept bangs to finish off the look.

Ahead, see the viral TikTok dress hack in action, and decide how you might work it into your own wardrobe repertoire.

25 Times David and Victoria Beckham Coordinated Outfits, From the ’90s to Today

    [ad_1]

David and Victoria Beckham have been together since 1997, memorably tying the knot at a lavish ceremony in Dublin, where they wore matching purple outfits with 3D florals to cut their cake. But the Hollywood couple have seen so many red carpets, runway shows, and royal weddings together since then, many of which they attended with their kids, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. With the release of the Netflix docuseries “Beckham,” which follows David’s soccer career, we’re offered a nostalgic glimpse of the duo’s approach to mastering fashion trends in the ’90s and ’00s.

David, 48, and Victoria, 49, might have attended the UK “Beckham” premiere in his-and-her suiting, rocking midnight navy and white, respectively, but they’ve coordinated in plenty more styles throughout the ages. From all-black leather at a Versace store appearance to acid wash denim at a Whitney Houston concert in 1999, they’ve managed to keep their wardrobes in sync. On Sept. 29, David supported Victoria at her Fashion Week runway show in Paris, sitting front row with his children and Vogue’s Anna Wintour, just as he does each and every season. The athlete and fashion designer also enjoyed a trip to Versailles for the Jacquemus Le Chouchou presentation this past June, where they sported lightweight separates from the brand at the photo call, accessorizing their neutral pieces with dark sunglasses.

Ahead, look back at 25 of David and Victoria Beckham’s most iconic moments together, from casual courtside appearances and dinners at Nobu to the British Fashion Awards and the annual Met Gala.

Ever panicked over what to wear to a basketball game? Taking a tip from courtside celebrity appearances is actually easier than you think. While the sidelines at the NBA have long been a place for cool streetwear debuts, these past few seasons, stars have definitely upped the ante, with the floor appearing more and more like the front row at Fashion Week. This has become a spot for couples to launch their new relationships, à la Emily Ratajkowski and Pete Davidson; the latest fashion trends (Donald Glover was one of the first to rock MSCHF’s polarizing BWD shoe while enjoying a game); and standout outerwear — as impractical as Beyoncé’s crystal-studded patent jacket or Tinashe’s Annakiki cow-print coat may be.

Best-friend duo Justine Skye and Hailey Bieber memorably constructed cute matching basketball-game outfits, with Bieber in a spring/summer 2023 Coperni getup that consisted of a sleeveless pinstripe vest and low-slung heavyweight cargo pants. She and Skye both covered up with tough leather jackets and opted for their own taste in hoop earrings. From Adele’s glamorous leather Louis Vuitton look at the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener to Chlöe’s skintight patterned Osman jumpsuit at an Atlanta Hawks game, basketball-game outfits have certainly been elevated to a new level.

The Villain-Era Corset Is Taking Over, From Selena Gomez to Sydney Sweeney

    [ad_1]

In 2020, “Bridgerton”-inspired corsets launched the regencycore trend that we’re still seeing circulate today. But recent celebrity looks have us pondering the evolution of the corset top, which, in 2023, feels a bit more va-va-voom. After the premiere of Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” wardrobed by costume designer Sophie Canale, Victorian-era details trickled down to the runway, from pouf-sleeves and opera-length gloves to springy pastels and florals. Shopping guides included the best corset tops, alongside ornate jewelry, pearls, satin and crystal-embellished shoes. But the regencycore trend felt dreamy and romantic — and the new version, which we’re dubbing the villain-era corset, is anything but.

The villian-era corset harkens back to styles from the 19th century, which boasted a straight or rigid neckline that seemed to lift and emphasize the bustline. Embodying a witchy tone, the corsets are structured and edgy, making them appropriate for fall and consistent with popular trends like the dark-academia aesthetic.

When Selena Gomez stepped out in Paris flaunting Marc Jacobs’s corset with structured boning and a low-cut neckline, her outfit added a villain-era vibe to quiet luxury. Similarly, Sydney Sweeney’s vintage Miu Miu corset minidress emitted tough sophistication and mystery. Sofía Vergara offered perhaps the most wearable take, showing off her signature sultry style in a corseted LBD.

The Boyfriend Shirt Is Having a Moment, From Selena Gomez to Kendall Jenner

    [ad_1]

Button-downs are a classic wardrobe essential, and probably one of the first items you consider when getting dressed for work, layering under a suit, or even packing for a beach vacation. But lately, the oversize boyfriend shirt has reigned supreme when it comes to cuts, with many celebrities reaching for boxy silhouettes that can be worn open or closed. Of course, their styling tactics run the gamut, but even when the resulting look is sexy and bold, it’s still wearable.

Kendall Jenner wore her pinstripe boyfriend shirt as a loose dress over a pair of hot pants, for example, helping her pull off the no pants trend in a less daring way. Gigi Hadid and Gabrielle Union, meanwhile, exhibited prowess for baring a flash of ab when they wore their shirts unbuttoned at the top and bottom. This is a decidedly more relaxed and casual approach to wearing an oversize button-down, and Hadid and Union make a case for keeping things streamlined in a monochrome color palette. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez stepped out at Paris Fashion Week — where she wore numerous takes on the trend in both white and blue — most notably playing with proportions by leaving her shirt open over a tube top, Versace denim miniskirt, and Stuart Weitzman snakeskin over-the-knee boots.

Why the sudden resurgence of oversize boyfriend shirts? It probably has something to do with their refined elegance and the turn to neutral, tailored separates in an effort to achieve quiet luxury. Ahead, see how everyone from Gomez to Jennifer Lawrence is convincing us to add button-downs three sizes too big to our fall wish list.

Everything to Know About the Engagement Rings on “Love Is Blind”

    [ad_1]

If you’re a fan of Netflix’s “Love Is Blind,” then you may be curious about the engagement rings, which are either chosen on set or brought in (Kyle Abrams presented his mom’s ring to Shaina Hurley during season two, for example).

Knowing that on “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” the jewelry is entirely provided by Neil Lane, you have to wonder how much shopping the men on “LIB” could possibly be getting done outside of the pods while they’re holed up from the outside world.

What’s more, if you’re looking closely, you may notice similarities in some of the women’s engagement rings. In fact, in season one, it appeared Lauren Speed, Jessica Batten, and Amber Pike wore identical rings following their proposals.

According to Netflix, all the men are presented with dozens of rings to choose from, unless they brought their own. “Whatever they choose, we pay for. Whatever we pay for, they keep, regardless of engagement ending,” a representative told POPSUGAR. And even though you might recognize similar elements on some designs — like diamond carat size, band embellishment, and setting — no two styles are exactly the same.

Netflix even shared that in season two, the men proposing discussed their choices together, so the rings felt unique to each recipient. Of course, there are fans who have tweeted that they believe the women should be able to choose their preferred style before heading into the pods. That became a major issue in season two, when Mallory Zapata ended up with a silver ring picked by Salvador Perez, instead of her preferred choice of gold. Perhaps the producers will find a way for both contestants to join the ring-selection process in future seasons.

In the meantime, keep reading for everything to know about the “Love Is Blind” engagement rings, including the similarities, the payment, and the process by which they’re chosen.

  • I Styled the Iconic Adidas Samba Like Rihanna and Hailey Bieber

I Styled the Iconic Adidas Samba Like Rihanna and Hailey Bieber

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

My obsession with the Adidas Samba first began in fifth grade. One of my classmates wore the OG classic in black nearly every day, teamed with a pair of Soffe shorts that were rolled precisely three times at the waist. She always beat the boys at soccer during recess. I admired her fashion sense from a young age, and I think that’s because she wore her outfits with confidence and exuded a certain toughness — especially in her Sambas. It’s possible she was even my very first style crush. Today, retro sneakers are having a resurgence, and that certainly doesn’t exclude the iconic Samba, a low-top with three recognizable stripes, the Trefoil-embossed logo at the heel, and a gum rubber outsole. It was, in fact, created as a versatile soccer shoe by the brand in 1950.

Particularly impressed by the quirkiness of Hadid’s outfit and the bold brilliance of Rihanna’s, I aimed to settle on the answer to an age-old query: how to wear Adidas Sambas.

The celebrity support of the Samba is at an all-time high, with models, Hollywood A-listers, and Rihanna (she deserves her own category, right?) reinventing the wheel when it comes to outfits with a tomboy twist. While pregnant with her first son, RZA, in April 2022, Rihanna updated her maternity wardrobe with a pair of white Samba shoes that offset a navy-blue Alaïa ribbed set. They were played up by pearls and the accents on her Dior Saddle Bag, and complemented by an LAFD trucker hat. That might have been the street style look to spark the cyclical trend — Bella Hadid wore her Sambas in Paris around the same time, taking a dark-academia approach. And Katie Holmes and Hailey Bieber rocked them with denim this past summer, stepping out in New York and LA, respectively.

Seeing as school is back in session — and that’s where my love for Sambas began — it felt like the right time to pick up the sneakers (which start at $90), and take them for a spin. Maybe it’s because the shoes represent my early passion for admiring someone else’s style, but I promptly schemed to re-create the celebrity outfits I’d found. Particularly impressed by the quirkiness of Hadid’s outfit and the bold brilliance of Rihanna’s, I aimed to settle on the answer to an age-old query: how to wear Adidas Sambas.

As it turns out, you don’t have to harbor millions of Instagram followers to wear the shoe in precisely the same way Rihanna, Hadid, Bieber, and Holmes did. All four outfits work for achieving athletic appeal like a fashion girl — it just depends how relaxed, or, conversely, how extra you want to stray. Ahead, I review the original Adidas Samba shoe in the context of each celebrity outfit I tried and ultimately choose a favorite look. Scroll to see — and shop — the pieces cut out for the job.

Anne Hathaway Wears a Naked Dress Made of Vegan Leather Leaves

    [ad_1]

From her breakout roles in “The Princess Diaries” and “Ella Enchanted” to her recent performances in “Armageddon Time” and “WeCrashed,” Anne Hathaway has embarked on quite the impressive style transformation, today positioning herself as a connoisseur of all things glamour on the red carpet. With Bulgari and Versace campaigns under her belt and a taste for other high-end luxury labels such as Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and Armani, she is now expected to make a sartorial statement at any event she attends. Hathaway, 40, works with stylist Erin Walsh on her outfits, which have recently taken on an edgier tone thanks to touches of patent leather, shorter hemlines, and even ornamental embellishments like sequins or the beaded hood she wore to Bulgari’s high jewelry event in Venice, Italy.

Most recently, Hathaway marked her partnership with Shiseido as Vital Perfect global ambassador, and she slipped into an intricate gold vegan leather leaf paillette gown from CD Greene to mark the occasion. With a shimmering, sheer-paneled bodice that caught the light at every turn and a natural glow courtesy of makeup artist Gucci Westman, Hathaway turned heads. Her long, brown hair was swept into an elegant side part by Adir Abergel, and finishing touches came by way of strappy, minimalist gold sandals, Bulgari serpent stacking rings, and diamond-encrusted architectural earrings that cascaded from her ears just like the scale-like pattern on her dress.

Ahead, catch a glimpse of Hathaway’s recent appearance, then go back in time and admire how her looks have indicated a markedly different aesthetic through the years.
