  • The Full-Body Slit Is the New Trend Dominating the Red Carpet

The Full-Body Slit Is the New Trend Dominating the Red Carpet

    [ad_1]

The leg slit has been a red carpet trend for years, but a dress cutout that climbs all the way up to the bust line, exposing the wearer’s entire side, is bold territory that not all have ventured to. In recent months, we’ve seen the trend surge to an all-time high as evening labels such as Mônot and Retrofête push boundaries with their designs.

Unexpected flashes of skin come by way of ab windows, hip cleavage, and splices across the chest, but no statement is as risqué as a completely sideless dress, which means that underwear is not an option. The true question becomes whether a silhouette is wearable or fodder for a wardrobe malfunction, and there are plenty of stars who like to test the limits.

While designers tend to adorn full-body slits with bows, thin strips of fabric, or sheer panels that appear to magically hold the dress together, connecting the front and back, most looks are so revealing that the gown seems to defy gravity. Watching celebrities pull off full-body slits on the red carpet may very well spark thoughts such as, “How are they keeping that in place?” and, “How did they cover their tan lines?”

Most recently, Heidi Klum, 50, sent minds racing as she sported a Lever Couture number to the 2023 LACMA Art+Film Gala. Her white frock was made from bushels of tinsel, but even the volume of the material did not distract from her see-through panels, one of which took the form of a plunging neckline. The extremely bold statement stood out from the crowd at the event, as dresses like these so often do.

Of course, Klum isn’t the only one going the extra mile for a leggy moment. Ahead, see how everyone from Poppy Delevingne to Charli D’Amelio rock the full-body-slit dress.

  • Socks With Heels Is the Latest Polarizing Trend Taking Over Hollywood

Socks With Heels Is the Latest Polarizing Trend Taking Over Hollywood

    [ad_1]

Wearing visible socks with heels, loafers, or sandals has been a polarizing style move since the beginning. In its simplest form, it’s a nod to the schoolgirl aesthetic, but at its most contrived in 2023, it’s become a full-on trend, seen everywhere from the red carpet to the street. While there are ways to “play it safe” with the combination, simply by appearing preppy and polished in a thinly folded ankle sock and logo-less loafer, the runways are inspiring a next-level statement. Tibi‘s spring 2024 collection offered a monochromatic spin with brightly-colored socks to accent an otherwise neutral outfit. At 3.1 Phillip Lim, there were sheer stockings pulled to the shin that amplified translucent ballerina flats.

Now, SZA has officially brought the look to the fancy pumps category, sporting a frilly white sock with an embroidered trim and bow with her black heels. While accepting an innovator award from WSJ. Magazine, the 33-year-old musician flaunted a Maison Margiela runway ensemble, which featured an undone hem and purposefully ragged stitching. In contrast, her socks and heels felt prim and proper. They drew attention to the Peter Pan color on her minidress, making for an event-ready take on dark academia.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, Hailey Bieber, and Kendall Jenner have all stepped out in tall socks and loafers in recent months, teaming the trend with unexpectedly sporty and relaxed wardrobe essentials, such as lived-in, baggy denim shorts, oversize button-downs, and baseball caps.

As we watch for more takes on the visible socks look, scroll to see our favorite examples so far — starting with SZA’s high-fashion approach on the red carpet.

  • The “Selling Sunset” Cast Defends Their Over-the-Top Office Outfits

The “Selling Sunset” Cast Defends Their Over-the-Top Office Outfits

    [ad_1]

With each season of Netflix’s “Selling Sunset,” the cast’s wardrobes grow bolder and more memorable. Now, on Season 7, the cast doesn’t fail to deliver when it comes to over-the-top fashion, from Chelsea Lazkani to Chrishell Stause. The “Selling Sunset” outfits are famously dressy — think 7-inch heels worn to open houses — and sometimes they’re even borderline outrageous (namely, Lazkani’s viral vagina purse).

In fact, Lazkani put it best when it comes to styling her memorable looks for the show. “When you’re on a cast with a number of ladies and you all have different body types, you’ve got to know what your best assets are,” she told POPSUGAR, adding: “I’m not 5’9″ like the rest of the girls, I’m 5’5″, but you may think that I’m a lot taller than I am because I show off the parts of me that are flattering. I think everything is about angles and knowing what works for you.”

It’s safe to say the rest of the women on the cast — including Heather Rae El Moussa and Mary Fitzgerald — all abide by that rule. Keep reading for everything to know about the “Selling Sunset” outfits.

Where does the “Selling Sunset” cast get their outfits? Does the “Selling Sunset” cast wear their own clothes?

While most castmates simply shop their own closet, Emma Hernan did collaborate with creative consultant Kendall Finzer for her wardrobe of thigh-high slits and monochrome suit sets.

In season 5, former castmate Christine Quinn worked with stylist Kat Gosik on her eye-catching looks. (In May 2023, Quinn alleged that “Selling Sunset” producers pressured the cast to adhere to a revealing dress code. Netflix, Lionsgate, and Done and Done Productions did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment.)

Does the “Selling Sunset” cast actually dress like that?

Yes, the “Selling Sunset” cast dresses the same in real life, whether they’re going to the office at The Oppenheim Group for a meeting or hosting an open house. “Anything can be office wear these days,” says Chrishell Stause. “Add a blazer to that cute dress and you are ready to go.” Likewise, traditional office wear simply isn’t Lazkani’s aesthetic of choice. “I don’t actually feel comfortable in those tailored suit pants that women traditionally wear in business settings, so I choose not to wear them,” she said. “I prefer to wear a cute dress and a blazer.”

Ahead, the women of “Selling Sunset” break down their personal style philosophies for POPSUGAR. Keep scrolling to read our exclusive interviews and to see outfits from the best seasons of “Selling Sunset.”

  • Emily Ratajkowski Put On a Plunging Red Sweater and Called It a Day — Who Needs Pants?

Emily Ratajkowski Put On a Plunging Red Sweater and Called It a Day — Who Needs Pants?

    [ad_1]

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Emily Ratajkowski’s style feels sexier than ever as she steps out in New York City to run errands. For a meal at renowned restaurant Eleven Madison Park on Oct. 19, the 32-year-old model brought back a look that was popular in the 2010s. Lampshading, otherwise known as wearing an oversize top with tall boots or heels, was a go-to combination for much of Hollywood, from Zendaya and Ariana Grande to the Kardashian-Jenners.

Ratajkowski’s red Loewe sweater-turned-minidress retails at $3,400 and was shown on the fall 2023 runway with a pair of Chelsea ankle boots. She worked with her stylist Emma Jade Morrison to source a pair of the brand’s knee-high boots, a shoulder bag from The Row, gold hoops, a coordinating bangle, and Pepper Eyewear cat-eye sunglasses as her simple accessories. As she walked and her plunging neckline slipped to the side, you could make out a red bra strap, which accented the sweater as her pièce de résistance.

It’s a look I might have worn with tall UGG boots and my Dooney & Bourke wristlet to the movies with friends in the 2010s. But on Ratajkowski, the leggy moment displays confidence and serious attitude as she struts her bare legs through the windy streets right on the cusp of winter. Today, the no-pants trend is decidedly more extreme, with most stars tapping into the look in briefs worn over tights with a pair of pumps. However, Ratajkowski daring to turn an old trend into a sexy series of snaps for the paparazzi makes her effortless outfit even more notable than the rest. No pants in cold weather would hardly be a passing thought for most, after all.

Taylor Swift recently made a statement like Ratajkowski’s in a roomy Stella McCartney polo hitting mid-thigh and Prada boots, although her hemline was less structured and fell closer to the knee. Swift’s ensemble also felt more reflective of the 2010s, proving a no-pants outfit can be whatever you want it to be. Meanwhile, Ratajkowski has been pushing the envelope with other risqué pieces, such as her Sandy Liang underboob-baring bralette and her ab-cutout Jean Paul Gaultier halter dress at the 2023 MTV VMAs.

Ahead, see more angles of her wearing the Loewe sweater in New York City, then shop the exact design, or a more affordable piece to re-create the look from Old Navy, Amazon, or Nordstrom.

A little digging for a Telfar bag online will usually leave you disappointed as they tend to sell out quickly (like, insanely quickly) after being restocked on the site. But as more celebrities have embraced the brand’s classic bag silhouettes, the more widely available they’ve become. This is, in part, thanks to none other than Oprah Winfrey herself, who recently included a dark purple Telfar bag in her 2023 Favorite Things List — and the same style is currently available on Amazon. As with most things that Oprah recommends, the accessory likely won’t be in stock for very long — but there is an option to get one quickly for Amazon Prime users.

Telfar bags were popularized in 2014 after being launched in small, medium, and large, and Liberian-American founder and designer Telfar Clemens stamped a democratic slogan on his luxury label: “Not for you, for everyone.” There is perhaps no better marketplace than Amazon to make the bags feel accessible. The nongendered brand got even more hype after Clemens was awarded the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2017, and celebrities began sporting the purses in all different colors.

Ahead, shop Oprah’s new favorite Telfar bag before it sells out on Amazon, and check back here — because we’ll let you know as soon as more styles get restocked.

  • Rita Ora Wears See-Through Lace Pants and a High-Slit Naked Dress in New Shoot

Rita Ora Wears See-Through Lace Pants and a High-Slit Naked Dress in New Shoot

    [ad_1]

Rita Ora has officially announced the second phase of her Primark Collection, dropping on Nov. 7, right in time for the holidays. The accompanying campaign shows the 32-year-old musician in looks tailored to the season, all of which put a sultry spin on festive dressing. Ora, who’s known for iconic fashion moments that include sheer, body-baring elements, plunging necklines, and cutouts galore, has successfully incorporated her personal aesthetic into the accessible line, which was a goal so that fans could easily achieve her look.

In one shot, Ora poses on the floor in a pair of sheer tights, her legs perched up to show off a pair of patent platform Mary-Janes and a rose anklet. The 3D floral trend also pops up on a tuxedo at the collar — another instance where Ora forgoes pants to show off her lace-embroidered stockings. One more standout item? The long-sleeved naked dress with a scalloped trim and hip-high leg slit that she teams with patent leather stiletto knee-high boots and an abundance of silver jewelry. Her long hair is swept back and teased at the crown to evoke glamour and drama, and she sports a sweeping cat-eye with shimmering liner, plus a glossy lip.

“Big Announcement, the next phase of my partnership with @primark hits stores globally on Nov 7! 💖🙌 I have loved seeing everyone rock the first collection, and I’m so excited to share the next stage of our journey just in time for the holidays 😍😍,” Ora captioned her Instagram announcement, which also includes a video of the star visiting a store location to see how the clothing is displayed in person.

As a longtime Primark shopper, Ora wanted to stay equally involved in the design process as well as the shopping experience. “I’m not just looking at it as, ‘Would I wear it?’ I’m thinking about the average woman and becoming her in my mind,” she told POPSUGAR in September when she unveiled the partnership during Fashion Week. “It’s almost like an art project.”

  • Hailey Bieber Wore Overalls and Heels For an Iconic Date-Night Outfit

Hailey Bieber Wore Overalls and Heels For an Iconic Date-Night Outfit

    [ad_1]

No one had to search for how to wear overalls in the ’90s, when they somewhat defined the cultural zeitgeist with icons such as rapper Tupac, hip-hop artist Lauryn Hill, and R&B singer Aaliyah popularizing the trend. While the denim silhouette first gained momentum in the US during the 19th century as industrial workwear, it is today a fashion statement that has seen so many different iterations through the years. The ’70s gave way to overalls with flared legs or cropped and fitted versions that could be worn with nothing underneath. (See Olivia Wilde’s free-spirited, skin-baring moment ahead.) And today we’re seeing a nod back to the ’90s as street style stars opt for baggy pant legs and may even wear one, or both straps, completely undone. Call it a twist on the deconstructed-denim trend, but overalls are fast becoming yet another example of not-so-basic jeans.

Hailey Bieber recently stepped out in a pair of oversize Dickies — an iconic brand also approved by Kourtney Kardashian — that she spotlighted under her long duster coat for date night with husband Justin in Beverly Hills. By adding slick accents, such as dark, skinny sunglasses and a sharp, pointed-toe heel, she put her own stamp on the trend with ease. Meanwhile, there are plenty of ways to wear overalls through all seasons — be it in shorts form, corduroy dress form, or rugged and distressed — that cater to different tastes.

Now that overalls are trendy again, you may be at first hesitant to try them out, initially worried whether they appear flattering. But one scroll through our how-to guide, and you’ll feel well-versed in overalls, wearing them with lingerie to lounge around the house just as readily as you do for a night out finished with heels. Soon, you’ll be treating overalls like jeans — they’re easy to slip into, make for an effortless one-and-done outfit, and ridiculously chic.

Read on to see 10 of our favorite ways to wear overalls.

Emily Ratajkowski’s Underboob-Baring Bra May Start a New Street Style Trend

    [ad_1]

After rising to fame as a model and former actor, starring in music videos such as Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Emily Ratajkowski has maintained her status in the fashion world as a risk-taker and trendsetter. The 32-year-old Hollywood star, who also goes by EmRata, started her own label, Inamorata, in 2017, paving the way for the rise of the sexy, feel-good thongkini. She explored her own sexuality and power through her 2021 novel, “My Body.” And she’s now the host of a podcast, “High Low With EmRata.”

Ratajkowski has been extremely vocal about her personal take on feminism in the context of fashion, telling Allure, “To me, any expression that is empowered and is your own as a woman is feminist. If a woman decides to dress sexy, it doesn’t mean she’s not a feminist. [We] should be doing things for ourselves. If that is the woman’s choice, and it makes her feel good, then that’s great. Good for her.”

She works with stylist Emma Jade Morrison on both her red carpet outfits and street style wardrobe, showing slips of skin whenever she can, whether it’s by partaking in a leggy moment, trying out a dangerously low neckline, baring a flash of underboob, or working an eye-catching cutout. One subtler item you’ll rarely see her without? The push present she bought for herself — a nameplate necklace that spells out her son’s name, Sylvester. “It is sort of my lucky charm. I feel really naked if I don’t travel with it or don’t, kind of, have it on,” she told Vogue of the special memento.

12 Flannel Outfits to Try This Fall and Winter

    [ad_1]

Flannel is a material generally associated with fall and winter trends — and for good reason. If you’re looking for how to wear your flannel this season, we’ve rounded up 12 unique outfits that scream fashion girl, but simultaneously keep you cozy. The soft, fuzzy, or “raised” fabric of your favorite flannel retains warmth, but that doesn’t mean it can’t earn you style points.

Your flannels aren’t just for sleeping or lounging around the house. As so many trendsetters prove, there are some pretty significant ways to wear them that stand out, whether you’re using plaid (a print typically seen on flannels) to bring casual vibes to fancier pieces, or even rocking textured shoes to add even more dimension. While most people probably think of flannels as lived-in button-downs that become soft with age, the material’s not just limited to shirting. Flannel skirts, pants, blazers, and jackets are in abundance on the streets if you look closely.

Ahead, brush up on a few new ideas for winter outfits that involve this wardrobe essential, from sporting your checked blazer with nylon drawstring shorts to putting a sporty twist on dark academia to layering a fuzzy knee-length skirt over straight-leg jeans and finishing the unexpected combination with a pair of feminine pink shoes.

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

Billie Eilish has partnered with Gucci to advocate for animals by starring in a campaign that launches the brand’s Horsebit 1955 bag in a new material and asymmetric shape. Demetra, which is animal-free and combines quality, softness, and durability, is made from 75-percent plant-derived sources, according to an Oct. 30 press release. While Gucci has been working on crafting the fabric in Italy since 2021, it was perfect timing to collaborate with Eilish and feature her song “What Was I Made For?” in a Marcell Rév-directed cinematic film that accompanies the images, which were all lensed by Tyrell Hampton.

Eilish showcases both her genuine personality and authentic sense of style by wearing Gucci pieces exactly as she always has — baggy and oversize, with a ’90s vibe that feels relaxed, yet tough. In one shot, she sports a plunging white ribbed tank with boxers pulled out from the waistband of wide-leg khaki pants, successfully achieving the underwear as outerwear trend in her own way. In another, she shouts into the abyss in a logo-splashed button-down shirt, patterned bucket hat, high socks, and cargo shorts. The red highlights at the crown of her head and base of her bangs are put on display through her many poses, and Eilish piles on plenty of chunky silver rings and chainlink necklaces for all of the shots. Her makeup is natural and effortless, with a pink glossy lip and crystal rhinestones glued to her teeth.

Gucci’s commitment to doing better for the planet comes with a donation to Support+Feed, which is a charity that fights the climate crisis by striving towards an equitable plant based food system. We hope to see other brands following in Gucci’s footsteps, and there are a whole slew of labels making sustainability a priority already, including Hanifa, Collina Strada, and Hope For Flowers. Eilish, 21, is never one to stay quiet about her strong beliefs on the topic of being eco-friendly. She famously wore an Oscar de la Renta dress to the 2021 Met Gala dependent upon the fashion house’s promise to stop using fur in production. Other luxury brands that have banned fur include Chanel and Prada, which Eilish has also worn proudly on the red carpet.

PETA commented on Eilish’s post celebrating her Gucci campaign, recognizing her work and the project at large: “Celebrating Gucci creating its first ever #vegan bag in style 👜🔥 You are fab and leaving such an impact by inspiring brands to help animals and our planet 🌎.”

Ahead, see Eilish’s Gucci campaign and find links to the new bags, which retail from $3,200-$3,500.

Anitta is one of the many stars who have fronted Savage X Fenty by Rihanna campaigns for the inclusive lingerie brand. The 30-year-old musician’s latest photo series showcases the Midnight Sweat collection, which comes in flashy blue metallic colorways and features appliqué details with high-shine florals. While the full range also includes athletic wear, such as sports bras and leggings, and even some athleisure pieces cut from liquid-effect cloth and replete with cutouts and ruching, it’s the lingerie that feels most masterful.

Posing on a porch with a tropical setting as her backdrop, Anitta leans over the banister to reveal must-see details, from the strappy triangle insert on her mesh thong to the numerous gold body chains she clasped around her waist to highlight her curves and butt tattoo. Her red hair is parted at the sides and curled at the ends, making for a very glamorous moment.

On Instagram, the Savage X Fenty team demonstrated how to get her look, which involves slicing and tying the Knight Shift mesh tee at the front, then pulling the sleeves off the shoulders. While Anitta’s own ensemble is stylized to a T, with a diamond-encrusted shapely cuff, a single neck-grazing starburst earring, chunky rings, and blue gemstone hoops, the shirt covering her co-ords is meant to be casual — and it’s clearly a fan-favorite given all the positive comments left on the how-to video.

That collaborative process enables them to take the most mundane characters and costumes — like a standard vampire or schoolgirl — to the next level, adding unique twists to personalize their looks.

Taylor Swift fans live for investigations into her wardrobe, as proven by their latest conundrum: did boyfriend Travis Kelce gift her those Nike Air Force 1s? The 33-year-old musician sported a red-and-white pair of the iconic shoes to watch the Chiefs play on Oct. 22, famously planting a kiss on Kelce’s cheek after the game. The photographic evidence, which also pictured teammate Mecole Hardman, Jr. and his girlfriend, Chariah Gordon, naturally made waves as another milestone in the couple’s highly publicized relationship — their first internet smooch! While Swift’s outfit involved a vintage Chiefs sweatshirt from Ellie Mae Studios, a pleated skater skirt, and a friendship bracelet strung with the tight end’s number on it, sneakerheads are going on about her themed kicks, which have reportedly been personalized for team members and their loved ones.

The Nike team told POPSUGAR via email they are unable to comment on whether or not the shoes were a gift, but confirmed that they are customized — we’d just need a screen-penetrating magnifying glass to zoom in on the details. Kelce’s teammate Ross Travis shared an Instagram Story featuring a group of similar custom Nikes, as documented by People, leading Swifties to believe the footwear is a Chiefs “welcome gift.” One X user predicted the exchange the day of the game, and another reiterated that the red Nikes mean she’s officially Kelce’s girlfriend. Meanwhile, sneaker podcaster Matthew Welty made a connection to Swift’s “Delicate” lyrics: “Dark jeans and your Nikes, look at you.” So it looks like Swift and Kelce are truly a match made in heaven — or should we say in Swift’s “Mastermind”?

Chain Bras Are the Fashion Trend You’ll See Everywhere This Holiday Season

    [ad_1]

Chainmail was certainly popular in the ’90s and 2000s, with Paris Hilton quite literally owning the dress trend after sporting a memorable silver mesh birthday dress that Kendall Jenner recreated in 2016. But a piece of jewelry that acts as a bra — with nothing underneath — is something else entirely, and it changes the conversation about wearable materials in fashion. In 2021, Bella Hadid stepped out at the Cannes Film Festival, a vision in a Schiaparelli black dress with a gigantic cutout circling her bust. But rather than go bare, the look was completed with a massive brass necklace in the shape of branched lungs to cover her breasts and seemingly present the idea of artfully-constructed hardware as a top.

Two years later, we’re seeing more playful iterations, with simpler designs dripping in crystals and rhinestones. Tyla’s metallic bra on “The Tonight Show” is one such example, teamed with a star-adorned micro-miniskirt. Saweetie’s Hello Kitty bra by Laser Kitten had a DIY aesthetic about it, with dangling cat charms, pastel dice, bubblegum bows, tiny pearls, and diamond strands sewn on haphazardly. And leave it to Kim Kardashian to nearly unveil her nipples in just a few Gucci chains strapped tightly across her chest. The Skims founder and reality TV star shot photos of herself in a campaign for the brand, meaning this fashion trend has now achieved icon status.

While jewelry-as-clothing isn’t something we see every day, the red carpet appearances, street style moments, and Instagram selfies are multiplying in Hollywood. • The Thought of Walking in Julia Fox’s Pelvic-Cutout Dress Makes Me Sweat

The Thought of Walking in Julia Fox’s Pelvic-Cutout Dress Makes Me Sweat

    [ad_1]

At this point, when I see Julia Fox step out in a new look, I can’t help but pause to imagine myself wearing it. Be it a thin strip of fabric masquerading as a skirt or duct tape that functions as a bra, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around some of her outfits. The 33-year-old “Uncut Gems” star, who works with stylist Briana Andalore on sourcing her statement-making looks, turned a wardrobe malfunction into a major fashion moment at an Oct. 25 event.

Fox attended Room To Grow’s 25th anniversary gala at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City in a Mowalola scarlet-red “half-dress” made of crinkled leather. While the skintight bodice fit like a tank, the dress seemed quite restrictive due to bands that wrapped around her legs, broken up by cutout panels. Because the strips of her skirt were so thin, it was easy to make out her entire nude thong as she carefully attempted to head into the event. And the second cutout offered a clear view of her pelvic area, making butt cutouts, boob windows, and ab-revealing panels feel almost demure by comparison.

In most photos at the step-and-repeat, the “Down the Drain” author had to stand with her legs crossed at the ankles to avoid a wardrobe mishap (a bonus, though, is that she got to display her matching Prada pumps in the process). Fox’s ombré locks, which have been dyed varying tones of red over the past few months, cascaded in thick curls over her left shoulder thanks to a side part. She flaunted a glossy, plum lip, plenty of highlighter, translucent nails, and a single star-shaped earring in the ear that was visible.

Needless to say, I’d imagine an activity as simple as walking feels taxing in Fox’s dress, so posing for cameras would be completely out of the question for me. As we’ve seen though, there’s no out-of-the-box trend that Fox will shy away from, even if it literally defies gravity.

    [ad_1]

Vanessa Hudgens has officially turned the tables when it comes to dressing for your own bachelorette party. The 34-year-old bride-to-be joined her friends for a night on the town in Aspen wearing a plunging maxi made of sheer panels and crinkled silk. The neckline was finished with a lace trim, catering to the star’s bohemian sense of style. Her gown is the antidote to the glitzy little minidress we may often expect to see brides choose. And with the addition of a thick, floor-length coat and two-tier veil, Hudgens’s look was attention-grabbing, but also dramatic in the name of spooky season — which is known to be her favorite time of year. (Last month, she marked the start of festive Halloween dressing with a post showcasing her matte black nails.)

While Hudgens normally opts for gothic-inspired outfits and a dark color palette in October, she made an exception for her bachelorette party and dressed in bridal white for the entirety of the weekend trip. In a second post, the actress and Caliwater founder shared a video compilation of all her looks, including everything from a “Bride” cowboy hat and sweats teamed with a furry coat and Prada tote bag to cozy matching co-ords that she accessorized with a baseball cap, platform ankle boots, and crossbody bag. Ahead, click through Hudgens’s bachelorette weekend with her best friends and admire her costume changes by the hour, then take a peek back at her timeless, oval-cut engagement ring from fiancé Cole Tucker before her big day.

  • Kylie Jenner Wears Nothing But a Leather Trench and Heels to Tease Her Fashion Brand

Kylie Jenner Wears Nothing But a Leather Trench and Heels to Tease Her Fashion Brand

    [ad_1]

Kylie Jenner has just announced her new clothing brand, Khy, wearing nothing but a black leather trench coat and red Ferragamo pumps. The 26-year-old Kylie Cosmetics beauty mogul and reality TV star has been cementing her status in the fashion industry for the past few seasons, forging connections with houses from Jean Paul Gaultier to Mugler, and she’s made the rounds at Paris Couture Week, too. As a multimillionaire, entrepreneur, and tastemaker, she’s more than prepared to step into the spotlight as a designer, following in the footsteps of her sisters Kim Kardashian, who created Skims in 2019, and Khloé Kardashian, who launched Good American in 2016.

Jenner’s Oct. 24 outfit post, captioned “meet khy,” indicates the aesthetic of her label, which appears to be sexy-meets-sophisticated with a dark color palette. The strong shoulders, leather gloves, and knife-sharp boots incorporated into look one, teased on the official Khy page, suggest edgy ’80s undertones. On Jenner, the jacket is unzipped on each side, resulting in skin-revealing, thigh-high slits. Perhaps some of the clothing will be multi-faceted or adjustable, allowing the wearer to tweak each item to their liking — assuming the zippers can also be closed to the hemline. Jenner’s dark hair was left slightly messy in tousled waves, and she opted for rouged cheeks, a berry-toned lip, and jet-black manicure.

While we don’t have official details to share about the Khy fashion line just yet, comb through Jenner’s style evolution to reminisce on her taste and how it’s transformed over time, leading her to her next major industry venture.

  • I Tried TikTok’s Gas Station Core Trend and Felt Like Britney Spears in “Crossroads”

I Tried TikTok’s Gas Station Core Trend and Felt Like Britney Spears in “Crossroads”

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

I think gas stations first became a source of style inspiration for me after watching Lucy Wagner (Britney Spears) sing “Bye, Bye, Bye” in her bucket hat in the back seat of a yellow convertible. The movie was “Crossroads,” released in 2002, and it was full of fashion ingenuity. Wagner later filled up the tank of her Buick in velour pants, a graphic tee, and messy ponytail — and that scene was pictured on the iconic movie poster. It’s an outfit I will always associate with gas-station fashion.

“You’re probably going to think everything is heinous but it’s a mindset shift…don’t judge a gas station by its cover!”

So, when WSJ named artist Josie Francis the face of the latest viral TikTok trend, gas station core, I was instantly curious about Spears’s old stomping grounds and their sartorial impact. Is gas station core still the same aesthetic I knew and loved when I was 10?

Today, gas station core is mostly about sifting through the nearly-empty racks and shelves next to your favorite candy to find hidden “gems”: affordable items you can work into a grungy look. Think oversize tees and outerwear, rugged utility clothes, and outdoorsy accessories. Francis shared an arsenal of tips for achieving peak gas station core, although she did note that you should interpret the “ugly” trend to make it your own. “Think twice about everything, give it a chance,” she told POPSUGAR. “You might see a hat and right away your brain might tell you that it’s ugly as f [DID SHE SAY FUCK?] – and it might be – but don’t walk away yet. Is it actually ugly ugly OR could you make it fun and style it in a way that would make sense? You’re probably going to think everything is heinous but it’s a mindset shift…don’t judge a gas station by its cover!”

Ahead, discover the ethos of the gas station core TikTok trend, then see how I made it my own with outfits you can shop.

    What is gas station core?

Gas station core is the latest viral TikTok “ugly” trend that involves collecting affordable, mostly oversize pieces from the convenience shops at gas stations. Wardrobe essentials in a gas station core closet include hunting and fishing gear; big, roomy tees with a wolf print, perhaps; reflective sport sunglasses; slogan baseball caps; and utility vests.

Francis pointed me to the section of the store with miscellaneous merch and lonely hats, both hidden gems that could have been plucked from a thrift store. She maintains that she’ll never spend more than $35 on any one item, as the whole idea of gas station core is to shop on a budget. Her personal favorite gas stations to shop at are in Wisconsin off of I-94, but I ended up finding great material at my local stops in Jersey City, NJ.

How to wear the gas station core aesthetic

While Francis’s look is colorful, quirky, and grungy all at once, I used my gas station finds to pay ode to the ’90s and 2000s. TikTok videos will suggest you wear your items with Daisy Dukes, baggy jeans, and Converse and cargos.

  • Julia Fox, Lori Harvey and More Stars Taking Ripped Jeans to the Extreme

Julia Fox, Lori Harvey and More Stars Taking Ripped Jeans to the Extreme

    [ad_1]

Deconstructed denim has reached its peak, and celebrities who tend to push the envelope sartorially are first to take the trend to extremes. While this year’s popular jeans styles run the gamut from ultra low-rise and baggy to patchwork, the most eye-catching pair remains one that’s either ripped to shreds, refashioned into what looks like an arts and crafts project, or full of holes.

While this treatment can be traced back to the ’80s during the heavy metal era, ripped jeans were also part of the punk and grunge aesthetics in the ’90s and early aughts. Today, the latest examples are modernized on the runway at Diesel, Brandon Maxwell, Jason Wu, Stella McCartney, Valentino, and more, where designers are working everything from foil and mirrored discs to fringe and 3D florals onto denim. This opens the conversation as to whether rips, patches, and acid wash are actually messy, or simply another decal to admire.

Celebrities such as Julia Fox, Lori Harvey, and Kim Kardashian are testing the waters, with Fox opting for skin-revealing silhouettes and Kardashian utilizing her deconstructed jeans as a bikini cover-up — because why not? These outfits might stop us in our tracks at first glance, but as more of these designs trickle down from the catwalk, it will all boil down to a matter of taste as we decide which iterations are taking it too far.

Ahead, see the best examples of celebrities in extreme takes on denim so far, then check out the undone pants trend that’s also taking over Hollywood.

  • Taylor Swift Wore the Most Romantic Piece of Jewelry For Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift Wore the Most Romantic Piece of Jewelry For Travis Kelce

    [ad_1]

Swifties may be stringing friendship bracelets with the names of their favorite songs to wear to Eras concerts, but for Taylor Swift herself, a break from her world tour means a change in the beads she’s sporting on her wrist. Shifting from the track list, Swift attended boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s game on Sunday Oct. 22 rocking the number “87” on her stretch-bracelet, aka the tight end’s football jersey number. Unsurprisingly, this style moment also comes with a lot more Kansas City Chiefs gear.

The 33-year-old musician played up her team spirit in a red vintage sweatshirt from Ellie Mae Studios, a pleated black skater skirt, Reformation Lolita platform loafers, and ankle socks. Though she also piled on plenty of other everyday gold jewelry, including a Cartier Juste un Clou necklace, stacking rings, and bracelets from FoundRae and Jacquie Aiche, they didn’t distract from the number stamped onto her friendship bracelet, bounded by two red hearts. Swift’s signature red lip, gold-dusted burgundy manicure, and rosy eyeshadow all complemented the color palette, and her famous bronde locks were left down straight, drawing attention to her bangs. She also employed thick cat-eye liner, which was noticeable in photos taken of the suite where she cheered on her beau with friend Brittany Mahomes.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to zoom in on Swift’s wrist, leading them to speculate whether or not she made the bracelet herself or, perhaps, if Kelce had a hand in stringing the statement piece, as he memorably revealed that he wanted to gift her a bracelet with his number on it on a July 26 episode of the “New Heights” podcast that he hosts with his brother Jason of the Philadelphia Eagles. No matter who crafted the bracelet, it’s been made abundantly clear that Swift is dedicating much of her time to her relationship with Kelce. For the star to nod to the man she’s dating with an accessory that quite literally symbolizes her fandom and their devotion, she’s making it known — she’s serious about this one. Of course, we can always leave it to Swift to send a meaningful message with her outfits.

Scroll to see Swift’s “87” friendship bracelet for Kelce up close.
