Swift appears to have an affinity for corsetry, sporting the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Classic Silk Corset, which retails for $35 but is currently sold out (the similar Victoria’s Secret Lace-Up Corset Top ($24, originally $40) is available though). She also wore the dress version of the trend with a Fleur du Mal Long Sleeve Flared Corset Dress ($495) in recent history.     As someone who’s always been intrigued by her aesthetic — skater skirts and leggy co-ords seem to transcend time in Swift’s wardrobe — I decided to try out both pieces by constructing inspired street style looks for New York Fashion Week.     What I Like About the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Classic Silk Corset

    There’s no denying that this corset made me feel snatched. I actually can’t recall the last time I strapped myself into a proper corset, but this one brought back all the fond memories. I think the satin feel gives this a very elevated look, whether or not you’re styling it with clothes. I also really appreciated the flexibility of the elastic straps since the rest of the bodice is so firm and structured.

    Ultimately, it’s the silky sheen that makes this corset Swift-certified for a Chiefs game — she teamed it with red Versace tweed separates, Versace Medusa boots, and a Versace Medusa bag to ideate luxury, along with a Louis Vuitton Tambour watch and ruby jewelry from David Yurman, Effy, and Retrouvaí. I employed the same styling tricks, albeit at a significantly lower price point, and even swiped on Swift’s signature red lip using her go-to Ruby Woo shade by Mac.

    What to Consider Before Buying the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Classic Silk Corset

    This corset is not for the faint of heart. It required my boyfriend’s full attention as I was unable to tie it myself once I had it in place, and I had to fully loosen all the ribbons to get it over my head. You’ll want to reserve at least 10 minutes for this process, and probably tap a friend or partner for help. While it felt firm and not necessarily uncomfortable once it was secured, some folks might describe the corset as restricting, particularly while sitting down. I wore it to a runway show and had it on for a total of about three hours. I definitely breathed an unmistakable sigh of relief when I took it off at the end of the night. Finally, it’s important to note that this corset doesn’t have adjustable straps, and it’s on clearance, so you may want to go for another option (VS recommends the Dare to Dream Lace Strapless Corset and Geo Daisy Lace Deep-V Corset as alternatives) for either of those key reasons.

    What I Like About the Fleur du Mal Long Sleeve Flared Corset Dress

    It’s hard to find one bad feature of this LBD that Swift wore for a night out with Travis Kelce over the holidays. It’s extremely comfortable and you can feel the quality just by the weight of the piece when you’re holding it up in front of you. Because of the corsetry woven throughout, the design is extremely flattering and smoothing. It’s easy to see why Swift’s stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer considered this to be a closet staple when he selected it for her.

    “We work with her stylist and know she has a few Fleur du Mal pieces,” founder Jennifer Zuccarini said. “I think Fleur du Mal is a perfect fit for [Swift] because her style, similar to Fleur, is more feminine, fashion-forward, and often cheeky and flirty. Over the last couple of years, she seems more comfortable with herself and embracing her sensuality and individuality.” (Swift also sported the label in her music videos for “Lover” and “You Need To Calm Down.”)

    For date night, Swift wore the dress under Simkhai’s embellished Gianni coat with a fringe Stella McCartney Falabella tiny tote bag, Christian Louboutin platform sandals, De Beers earrings, a Bonbonwhims necklace, and gold Cartier watch. I paid homage to the look with a similar Nasty Gal coat that’s now sold out, a Stella McCartney Ryder bag to reflect her love for the designer, and Vivaia sock boots with fitting red soles. I even applied the same Ruby Woo lipstick and added Swift-inspired jewelry to round out the moment.

    What to Consider Before Buying the Fleur du Mal Long Sleeve Flared Corset Dress

    While this dress has all the details that comprise a wardrobe essential, it is on the expensive side for a black skater dress, comparatively speaking. If you have pets, make sure you have a lint roller on hand because the material also attracts hair. The Fleur du Mal team notes that the dress sold out as soon as Swift wore it, though it’s back in stock now, so if you love it, add it to your cart ASAP. One final note? I own the dress in my regular size (XS), and while it’s the perfect length, the sleeves almost feel like added compression — that doesn’t bother me at all, but if you prefer a looser fit, my advice is to size up.

    Every body is different, and I personally have never wished upon a star for a bigger butt. But if there’s anyone who could change that, it would be Kim Kardashian. “With Skims’s new shapewear, you can get a butt, boobs, and amazing curves immediately,” she promises in the “Fairy Butt Mother” campaign, written and directed by Michelle Wolf and Ben Carey, respectively — the same duo behind the video teasing the viral Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra.

    “Whoa, that actually looks real,” my boyfriend exclaimed while pointing at my newly enhanced butt cheeks.

    Being the workout enthusiast that I am, I’ve executed many a squat in my day, and my butt and thighs are usually the reason I have to go up a size in jeans, then struggle with a waist gap. I never thought a fuller, rounder, more lifted booty would do me any good until I tried on the Skims Push-Up Butt Enhancing Padded Mid Thigh Bodysuit ($168) and Skims Butt Enhancing Padded Legging ($138). The leggings are currently sold out, but you can join the waitlist in the meantime. While the pieces didn’t exactly glide on like butter and definitely took some getting used to, they actually made me appear more sculpted — or at least like I have a shape similar to that of Kardashian’s famous derriere. “We love showing how looking and feeling your best should be as simple and easy as putting on Skims,” states Kardashian, Skims’s cofounder and chief creative officer, in the collection’s press release. And even though I didn’t initially feel like butt pads would make me feel my best, the gleefully surprised smile on my face suggests otherwise, doesn’t it?

    What I Like About the Skims Butt-Enhancing Collection

    Let’s be honest, the most likable thing about the Skims butt-enhancing collection is that it works. The difference in my shape (pictured) is obvious. The fabric of the leggings and bodysuit is also just as comfortable, smooth, and “snatching” as any other Skims pieces I’ve tried. The brand’s signature blend of polyamide and elastane has a lifting and contouring feel that’s not at all impacted or lessened by the addition of butt pads.

    What’s more, my enhanced shape was convincing to my partner. “Whoa, that actually looks real,” my boyfriend exclaimed while pointing at my newly enhanced butt cheeks as he emerged from the bedroom to watch me take these comparison shots. I also like that most of the pieces in The Ultimate Butt drop come in every signature neutral shade, as well as the full size range spanning XXS to 4X. After all, the universality of Skims is not something to be limited to any one collection.

    What to Consider Before Buying the Skims Butt-Enhancing Collection

    The actual feel of the butt-enhancing products is worth noting. Because there are sewn-in pads at the rear that add a whole two inches of volume, sitting down or brushing your behind against any given object takes some getting used to. Your newly sculpted bum might appear to be yours, but it actually belongs to the fabric of your clothing. So, there’s that — alas, it is fake. If you like the leggings specifically, you should also note that they only come in Onyx for now and are sadly waitlist-only at time of posting.

    The push-up bodysuit also isn’t the easiest to shimmy into. It took me at least two minutes to secure everything in place, adjusting the straps so that my bust was padded at the right level and each butt pad was also properly situated. In short, it makes for an awkward struggle, so make sure you allow ample time for getting dressed if you plan to wear it underneath your clothes. That being said, your outfit will have to be well-considered to ensure full coverage of the shapewear down to the raw cut leg opening, which could fall a bit too low if you’re trying to pull it off with a minidress. My advice is to also check out the Skims Butt Lifting Open Bust Bodysuit ($80) if you’re seeking a bit less coverage — while this one still has thin shoulder straps, it can be worn with any bra of your choosing. As for the legs, you may have to do some careful cutting to make the bodysuit or shorts work with micro hemlines.

    “How do you feel about capris coming back?” I DM’d my best friend, forwarding her the above Hailey Bieber look. “Do NOT try those,” she warned me. And that just made me all the more tempted to re-create the outfit. *Smirks* If you consider yourself an avid shopper and you’re also on TikTok, then you probably already know that both capri pants and polka dots are major summer fashion trends for 2025. So when Bieber pulled off both in one fell swoop, rocking her Paloma Wool Aneu Leggings — which are sadly sold out, though they look similar to the Reclaimed Vintage Polka Dot Print Capri Pants ($40) and Afrm Gianna Capri Pant ($58) — I wondered if I, too, could handle the chaos — you know, without being a supermodel and everything.

    Accessorizing with similar ’90s minimalist accessories, from flip-flop heels to Matrix-worthy sunglasses, did help. I also opted for shorter denim capris, selecting the ASOS Design Denim Capri in Mini Polka Dot ($43), to provide a bit more structure and help me balance proportions, since Bieber stands taller than me by seven inches. And honestly? Once I was wearing the capris, I really warmed up to the pant length — so much so that the silhouette felt less polarizing than the bold print.

    While I do understand the adverse reaction many folks have to capris (i.e. “How could those be flattering?”), I think it comes down to choosing the inseam that’s right for your body type, and that may take some trial and error. Plus, capris have some perks! They allow for a bold shoe moment, play into nostalgia (more on that below), and are a great transitional season pant to try when the temperature’s unpredictable.

    Are Capri Pants Back in Style For 2025?

    Capri pants became a pop culture staple synonymous with style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, and Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s and 1960s, but they also saw a resurgence in the early 2000s, when girls sported low-slung, cargo iterations with platform flip-flops and polos (think: “The O.C.”). Their modern-day revival can be traced back to spring/summer 2025 runways — from Louis Vuitton to Sandy Liang — and the subsequent celebrity stamp of approval. (Hailey Bieber! Keke Palmer!     When I first saw Kylie Jenner modeling her Khy Smooth Stretch Capri Catsuit ($78) on Instagram, I was struck by the simplicity of the look. We’ve seen the 27-year-old entrepreneur and beauty mogul in everything from intricate corsets to unfathomable cutouts, so this pared back moment really stopped me in my tracks. Jenner was in Italy, rocking the backless number to dinner with nothing but Maison Margiela leather flats, gold jewelry, and an oversize woven tote.

    The outfit honestly stuck with me for a while. And when, months later, I saw that the design — available in black, light gray, and cherry — was a bestseller on Khy.com, I was convinced I needed to try it. I’ve never been much of a one-piece lover. If anything, I’d consider a nylon-spandex silhouette like this appropriate material for a workout set, not a going-out moment. And seeing how flattering it was on Jenner didn’t exactly bestow me with any confidence.

    Like many Skims products I’ve tried, the Khy Smooth Stretch Capri Catsuit fits like a second skin. It’s extremely comfortable, especially since you can adjust it to your liking with the halter neck tie at the back. The piece is constructed from 85 percent nylon and 15 percent spandex, making it flexible and smooth, but still opaque and not at all sheer like a pair of tights. (In other words, I couldn’t make out every little butt dimple or body curve through the fabric.) I felt sexy when I put it on, but still relatively covered up. I didn’t look naked; rather, surprisingly elegant and graceful — like a ballerina.

    How to Style the Khy Catsuit Like Kylie Jenner

    As previously mentioned, I took a liking to Jenner’s styling with a simple pair of black flats — mine being a patent iteration with a bow at the toe from Cider — but I felt most comfortable when I added my oversize Frame denim jacket and pushed up the sleeves for an effortless streetwear touch. I accessorized with my rectangular Otra Eyewear frames and a pop of yellow, courtesy of my Fendi croissant shoulder bag sourced from Vivrelle. As a bonus, I even wore the catsuit on Halloween with a pair of black leather knee-high boots, which is a popular way to style the Khy Smooth Stretch Capri Catsuit, according to social media.

    What to Consider Before Buying Kylie Jenner’s Khy Smooth Stretch Capri Catsuit

    At the end of the day, the catsuit is a very tight article of clothing that bares skin and is designed to show off the body, so it’s natural to feel weary about slipping into it — especially without any extra layers. As I wore it, I also felt like the crotch area “dropped” a bit over time, rather than staying perfectly taut and in place. This tends to bother me when it comes to wearing one-pieces, although others may not even notice a little natural slippage.

    Note the black version of the Khy catsuit isn’t currently stocked in all sizes. And if you’re looking for something like this in a full-length leg, I would browse through the alternative options below, because the inseam is cropped at only 23 inches.

    When I pulled out my Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show getting-ready outfit from the shopping bag delivered to my doorstep, I was stoked. To be honest, I’d always wondered what it felt like to be one of the Angels getting her makeup done backstage in the brand’s signature Satin Short Piped Robe ($60). Mine even came with the official VS merch emblem emblazoned in crystals on the back. Both the crystals and the matching baseball cap (which is sadly now sold out from the “Shop the Show” drop) made up for the fact that I had to do my own makeup before trekking it to Brooklyn’s Duggal Greenhouse for the return of the legendary VS runway.

    Still, it was the outfit I slipped on after wearing the pink robe, the one I would ultimately wear to the show, that made me the most nervous: the Very Sexy Rose Lace Balconette Catsuit ($130). It was far more daring than the loungewear I had been sporting before, and I nearly put my foot in my mouth when I saw just how see-through the material actually was.

    As it would turn out, model and former First Lady of France Carla Bruni wore the very same design on the runway as I looked on from my seat in the audience, admiring her confidence. Suddenly, I didn’t feel so eager to cover up in my oversize denim jacket anymore. In fact, seeing what my fellow showgoers were wearing also made me feel more liberated in my lingerie as we all watched a VS Fashion Show that was more body inclusive than ever before. Don’t get me wrong: the brand still has a long way to go, in my opinion — viewers all over the world expressed that same sentiment after the spectacle wrapped — but getting to wear lingerie that’s typically reserved for Angels made the runway fashion feel more accessible.

    As the wing-less spectator I am, I felt it appropriate to layer with an oversize denim jacket from Frame and opted for simple black pumps. I kept on my hat to add a sporty twist. The wireless bra felt so smooth and lightweight, whereas the panties provided just enough coverage underneath the stocking-like bodysuit, without adding bulk.

    As time went on, I grew to appreciate the catsuit more and more — and not just because I was inspired by Bruni’s confidence. It really does have a stretchy feel to it so that it fits like a second skin. I also appreciate design details such as the illusion front panty panel and vertical front seams, which add undeniable sex appeal but sophistication all the same. The back zipper is also easy to maneuver without any help; and from a style perspective, it really does look good with a pair of heels, regardless of how many layers you add up top.

    My only gripe is that the sweetheart neckline is very low cut and the chest area is wide open, so if you want to layer a bra beneath the built-in cups, it will definitely be visible and may not align exactly how you pictured it. My advice is to try it with a few different bra and panty sets underneath until you find the perfect match for your shape.

    Of course, just like with a pair of tights, you’ll want to pull up this bodysuit carefully because the lace embroidery is definitely delicate.

    I won’t lie to you, the Kacey Musgraves x Reformation collection does not align with my typical aesthetic. But the 36-year-old singer, who is currently on tour promoting “Deeper Well” — which was just nominated for CMA’s album of the year — wears it well. The 17-piece capsule collection aims to showcase Musgraves’s personal style and music evolution. It has an English countryside feeling, composed of rich plaids, delicate lace, Victorian bows, equestrian boots, and vintage denim corsets. In a word, it’s romantic — which is not how you’d describe even a small chunk of my wardrobe.

    While I love avant-garde shapes and bold colors, and would even describe my fashion sensibility as ever-changing, I had yet to dabble in pouf sleeves and doily trims until I met the Bunny Dress ($248). Since the collaboration was dropped in stores and online on Sept. 16, this dress has quickly become one of the most popular silhouettes, largely thanks to Musgraves’s appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” The Bunny was the first item she wore from the line she helped design, teamed with a pair of simple black heeled mules.

    I had yet to dabble in pouf sleeves and doily trims until I met the Bunny Dress.

    “I got to curate every single detail of this whole line,” she told Meyers. “There’s denim, there’s headscarves, there’s boots, dresses — it’s very romantic and I’m really proud of it.” She continued, “It wasn’t something I just slapped my name on. I really wanted to bring the ‘Deeper Well’ aesthetic into a different dimension.” Musgraves went on to reveal that she worked with Reformation for a full year on production, and then shot the campaign in the Cotswolds in England, with her little sister Kelly Christine Sutton behind the camera.

    “I keep saying this is the perfect line for you to just frolic around in,” Musgraves said. And while I’ve never bought a dress that made me think of frolicking in the meadow (what meadow?), Musgraves’s on-screen look was so appealing, I knew I wanted to put my personal touch on it and try to make it my own. What happened when I actually got my hands on the Bunny mini and tried it on surprised me even more. Not only did I feel comfortable enough to embrace my girlier, dare I say demure-leaning, side, I also accessorized with frilly socks and Mary-Janes, a nod to Musgraves’s iconic campaign.

    What I Like About the Kacey Musgraves Reformation Bunny Dress

    The Kacey Musgraves x Reformation collection comes with a signature tag that suggests exclusivity, which is especially appealing for fans. Like most of Reformation’s clothing, the Bunny Dress feels well-made and isn’t too flimsy or thin. It comes lined and the scoop-neck is comfortable. Neither the elastic at the sleeves or the lace trim felt itchy against my skin during wear. But I think I discovered my favorite element of this dress before I even left the house: It’s actually very versatile.

    We saw Musgraves wear it with mules on the aforementioned talk show; I liked how it looked in the mirror with knee-high boots, my Steve Madden loafers, and the cranberry Mary-Janes and socks combination that Musgraves and I both successfully pulled off; and podcast host and author Tinx even wore it with the Franklin Boots that are part of the collection. Finally, the dress definitely fits true to size. I’m wearing a 0, which is my typical size, and it fit like a glove.

    What to Consider Before Buying the Kacey Musgraves Reformation Bunny Dress

    If you love a dress that’s machine washable, unfortunately, the Bunny is dry clean only to preserve all the delicate details. However, in my opinion, this is a year-round investment piece that works with tights and boots in the winter and bare legs and flats in the summer, so I think it’s worth the trip to the cleaners. Price-wise, this dress does err on the expensive side when it comes to a minidress, but, again, it can be dressed up or down and works for many different occasions. If you’re considered petite like me (I’m 5’1″), I would recommend trying out the shorter iteration, but I actually felt satisfied with the length of the regular size, which suggests a petite cut might have been too short for my liking.

    As someone who’s never had much luck with loafers — either my heels slip out, I get blisters, or my right bunion is rubbed raw against the interior — I was initially apprehensive about trying Steve Madden’s Lawsen shoe ($100). At the same time, I was equally sure that I needed a pair of platform loafers, both to give me a subtle boost of height and to help me transition smoothly from brat girl summer to demure fall. While a popular ’90s style move is to team these with socks (which would certainly help me avoid any foot injuries), I also desperately yearned for a pair that fit like a glove, sans socks and slippage. I ordered my usual size, 6.5, and hoped for the best.

    When I first took them out of the box, I had to squeeze my foot into the right one, twisting my arch over the edges of the loafer to loosen up the leather as much as possible. Once I finally had both shoes on, I couldn’t tell if they fit properly and honestly dreaded my first step forward. The act of walking would determine whether or not I’d been defeated by yet another pair of loafers. While I knew they were snug, I wasn’t in any pain. After about 30 seconds and a loud here-goes-nothing sigh, I mustered up the confidence to take the Steve Madden Lawsen for a spin.

    While these loafers do take some breaking in, they fit true to size and I experience zero slippage or blisters when styling them with or without socks. In fact, my first wear test was a full day out in New York City for Fashion Week, which involves plenty of running around. I’m particularly smitten by the design details of the shoe, especially since I’m a gold jewelry girl, so the hardware complements my go-to accessories nicely.

    The lug sole platform is one and a half inches, which provides a little lift without overdoing it in the heel department. I’m also a fan of matte leather over patent; I just feel like the patina develops nicer and adds character. Finally, I love that there’s a brown base lining on these shoes as it works to add dimension and break up the all-black materials, lending a casual touch.

    I should preface the rest of this review by explaining that I’m not a bra person. I have a small bust (30B/32A) and I tend to let my chest breathe most of the time, or employ boob tape and covers when necessary (i.e. when my shirt is see-through). For that reason, wearing a padded push-up bra equipped with built-in raised nipples was a full-blown experience for me. I chose a fitted white T-shirt to achieve optimal effect of this innovative look, styling it with a slip skirt and white sneakers to keep my outfit minimal.

    Not only was I trying on the nipple bra for comfortability and quality, I was quizzically observing passersby — specifically those I came in contact with — to determine whether they caught wind of my Kardashian nipples on full display.

Although I mentioned I’m not much of a bra-wearer, I’ve worn a push-up bra or two in my day and can confirm this design absolutely lifts my bust and rounds out the shape of my breasts with extra padding. The nipples are also easy to discern under clothing (yes, even if you’re wearing black or dark tops). Fit-wise, the bra runs true to size. (Note: The site suggests sizing up if you’re in-between band widths after taking your measurements.)

    As Kardashian mentioned during her “Kimmel” segment, many breast cancer survivors have expressed appreciation for the bra as an option for women who have undergone mastectomies and may have not been able to keep their nipples.     Is the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra Comfortable?

    As I’ve mentioned, I’m most comfortable going braless. But I would compare the comfortability of the Skims Nipple Bra to any other push-up bra I’ve worn in the past (my other go-to for years has been the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Bombshell). That being said, it’s important to note that in order for the nipples to appear prominent through layers, the foam pads in each cup must be highly structured, so you’re going to feel less of a forgiving cushion and more of a thick and firm filling. Skims also recommends going up a band size if you’re worried about digging or pinching at the sides — and while I didn’t experience either, I would describe the fit in this area to be “extra-snug,” which is a smidge above “snug” but not quite “tight” in my book.

    Does the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra Look Natural?

    This is where opinions become particularly subjective. Let’s start with my personal stance: when I look at myself in the mirror while wearing the Skims Nipple Bra, I do not feel like my bust looks natural. As a braless advocate, my nipples have gotten hard before where I’ve been able to make them out through my shirt, and my own pair aren’t nearly as perky as the Kardashian set. That being said, from afar, I do think the bra provides a realistic illusion. While going about my day, I believe I witnessed a handful of prolonged stares at my chest, but then again, I am one paranoid individual. If these viewers were scoping out the area, I’m inclined to think they were more curious about the bra itself while equally aware that I was not experiencing a chill on a sweltering hot, 85-degree day while sipping my Aperol spritz.

    While going about my day, I believe I witnessed a handful of prolonged stares at my chest, but then again, I am one paranoid individual.

    My boyfriend’s take? After spending a full 24-hours with me, myself, and Kardashian’s nipples, he declared: “The nipples are not round enough and they seem to be misplaced.” (We tried to fix this by adjusting the straps, but he ultimately felt like the placement of the nipples was not proportional to the would-be cleavage area on my shirt.) “Also, no two nipples are alike, just like no two fingerprints are alike,” he continued, “So the fact that both nipples look the same raises alarms as to the authenticity of the bra.” Given his career in tech and his interest in the development of products, he also suggested that he would like to see some sort of dynamic model, where the nipples can be adjusted to both hard and soft settings to mimic the natural body.

    All of this being said, if the lifelike quality of the bra is preventing you from purchasing it, Kardashian did tease that the brand is working on a “softer” version during her “Kimmel” appearance.

    What to Consider Before Buying the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra

    Skims allows for 30-day free returns for store credit (see the store locator list if you prefer to shop in person). However, the brand’s policy also states that for a refund back to the original payment method (if you purchased the bra online), a $6 return shipping fee will apply. For that reason, I highly recommend seeking a location that has the bra in stock to try it on before purchasing it. If you do decide you want to return the bra, it must be unworn, unwashed, and in the original condition with all tags — so be careful during your try-on process.     It may come as no surprise that Reformation’s revamped swimwear comes with new and improved materials. The line, which retails from $68 to $168 in sizes XS-XL, is made from a renewable and bio-based fiber called EVO by Fulgar. And, according to Reformation’s chief innovation officer Alison Melville, the product will only grow more sustainable with each seasonal drop (check out drop three here!). The first range incorporated deadstock fabric from the brand’s debut swimwear collection in 2019, and Reformation promises to “continue innovating and trying out new materials until we create the most sustainable swimwear possible,” according to Melville.

    Instantly attracted to the striking bikinis and one-pieces, PS editors were eager to get our hands on the latest swimwear designs, many of which were influenced by bestselling products across other categories. “We designed Ref Swim to complement and round out our customers’ existing Ref wardrobes,” Melville tells PS. “Throughout the design process, we were inspired by the concept of outfitting and looked to the silhouettes of some of our top performing apparel items to create complementary swim pieces. For example, the Melanie Top was one of our most popular styles in 2023 so we carried the peekaboo design detail through in our Tossa One Piece and Tossa Bikini Top.”

    Melville confirms that the success of drops one and two has exceeded expectations, with solid colors being most popular — a trend that speaks to the Ref shopper’s love for ’90s minimalism.     Kira Fisher, VP Brand Design, VS&Co, has roots in Newport Beach, CA, where the swim and surf culture became embedded in her DNA while she was growing up as an athlete. A Bachelors in Fine Arts and Major in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University led her to design stints at Abercrombie & Fitch, Aéropostale, and American Eagle — and she eventually landed at Victoria’s Secret, where she’s grown with the brand for over nine years.

    Fisher is now a seasoned pro when it comes to doling out advice for swim season, largely thanks to her experience learning about the VS customer and what they seek during the summer. “[Swim]wear is all about balancing sexy and comfort. I truly believe when you’re comfortable, you’re at your best and that makes you feel sexy and confident,” she tells PS. “It really comes down to what you like to wear – if its full coverage or a thong, or a full coverage top to a small triangle bikini, a brand’s line should offer a breadth of frames and coverages across tops and bottoms so everyone can feel comfortable. What I love about VS Swim is that, given Victoria’s Secret’s expertise in bras, our swim collection has such great frames that offer lift and support.”

    Given VS’s design history in intimates, Fisher explains that the same technology, craftsmanship, and fabric knowledge is leveraged into both the Swim and Sport categories, which is why they’ve become so popular. Customers have been gravitating toward the Archival collection recently, with their eyes on more fashion-forward pieces that incorporate, chains, splashy patterns, and silhouettes that contour the body.

    Fisher’s biggest piece of advice for those shopping for swim season is that “you know your own body better than anyone else. The biggest thing is you have to try it on and see how it makes you feel! [The] trying on experience really evolves you from what you think you will be comfortable in. Think about the coverage you want in your collection and go from there!”

    When I first met Natalie Trevonne, she was working in consulting and moonlighting as a writer eager to share her frustrations with the fashion industry. Trevonne, 33, began her journey as a legally blind woman at age 18, following struggles with corrective surgery after being diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. She went on to report about the ways in which online shopping lacks in accessibility for POPSUGAR in 2021, and about the poor audio description in popular fashion TV shows the following year. In 2023, she wrote about her experience walking in an inclusive, all-blind runway show. Meanwhile, she was preparing to launch her own brand, NYI, which stands for Not Your Inspiration.

    After working with Ernest Spicer, the company’s CTO and designer, on an NFT wedding dress (shown at the first-ever Meta Fashion Week), the two put their heads together to create a clothing brand that Trevonne felt was missing from the physical world. For her, that meant creating pieces with creative embellishments and emphasizing texture, hence the slogan “Style You Can Touch.”

    “Take the disability out of it. Would I still be inspirational? If not, then maybe it’s not the compliment that you think it is.”

    “As a blind woman, I identify my clothes through textures, so we’re playing with a lot of fun fabrics, like we have silks and lace and leather and corduroy. We have this really sexy tweed dress,” Trevonne explained when she guest-starred on my podcast, “Dinner for Shoes,” in December. “[We’re] really modernizing some classic textures and being able to feel them, so that when you do go into your closet, you’re like, ‘OK, this is NYI.’” Trevonne further elaborated on why texture is key for the blind community, and how it differentiates her label from others. “For a blind person, we can’t have 10 cotton shirts, we’re not gonna know what’s what,” she said. “I have a tweed skirt from Zara that I love, and I know it’s red because it’s my tweed Zara skirt. So I’m adding the color to the texture so I never forget.” Trevonne hopes her customers will be able to do the same with her inventory.

    Days ahead of New York Fashion Week, she introduced her first drop to the East Coast at an intimate showing among family, friends, brand supporters, editors, and influencers. I was honored to lead an interview segment and discussion about NYI’s long-term goals, one of which is an advocacy branch called Access Chicks, which will foster community by inviting those with disabilities to in-person sessions where they can learn about fashion and beauty from industry insiders. Trevonne knows how meaningful these NYI-hosted events will be for folks who aren’t as familiar with cultivating personal style and may have questions they don’t normally feel comfortable asking in other settings — while shopping, for instance.

    While you’d be hard-pressed to find an accessible brand today with such a specific, driven mission, adaptive clothing lines do exist. Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria’s Secret, Skims, and Target are all big-name companies that have recently made headlines for introducing small batches of products equipped with details like magnetic closures, functional vents and openings, and adjusted fit points. But they’re falling short, according to Trevonne.

    “Adaptive fashion is great, and I’m not arguing against adaptive fashion, because I think it’s helpful,” Trevonne started. “But what I’ve been trying to get brands to do is just to design with function in mind. Like, we don’t need a separate line. People do not want to feel othered. People are not going to go and buy your adaptive stuff, I’m going to be honest. They don’t tend to be that stylish. And I’m not trying to be rude, but usually it’s a button-up and some jeans. My friends who have dexterity issues who are in wheelchairs, they shop at Fashion Nova . . . They want to be included in the regular style. Just add the functionality to your [pre-existing] collections, and the websites.”

    [Trevonne is] someone who creates clothing that’s equitable in both style and accessibility, without depending on micro-collections that are othering.”

    Trevonne worked with designers Sky Cubacub of Rebirth Garments and Project Runway alum Kyle Denman on the I AM: Inclusive Fashion Experience hosted by LaVant Consulting in October 2023, where NYI first made its runway debut. “[Denman] did not bat an eye when we were like, ‘Hey, we’re gonna have some disabled models.’ He jumped in and made sure that his clothes were functional for everyone,” Trevonne said. “That’s what I loved about these designers: they didn’t make a whole new line, they just incorporated the people with disabilities into their collection to make sure that things fit.”

    This idea is significant to the meaning behind the name of Trevonne’s company, Not Your Inspiration. “As a person with a disability, I could be walking down the street and somebody will be like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re so brave. You’re walking out here by yourself? What an inspiration!’ And I’m like, I’m walking like you,” she said. “Take the disability out of it. Would I still be inspirational? If not, then maybe it’s not the compliment that you think it is. And I don’t want to be inspirational for just being blind. Everyone has the opportunity to wake up every day and choose to show up, and I don’t see that as inspiration.”

    In the coming months, Trevonne will continue to use her platform and her brand to spread the word about accessibility, while working to launch her advocacy program, Access Chicks. She also hopes to eventually open storefronts, because online shopping is not accessible for everyone. “I would love for blind people to have an actual place to go in and just feel everything and have a good time. And it won’t just be for blind people. I think a lot of people enjoy that about fashion,” she notes. It all proves Trevonne is the type of founder and designer she hopes to see more of in the industry — someone who creates clothing that’s equitable in both style and accessibility, without depending on micro-collections that are othering.

    And just like that, Trevonne has realized her own dream. If there’s anything inspirational about her, it’s that.
