  • Tickets go on sale for Sacramento Republic FC’s appearance in the USL Jägermeister Cup Final

The Sacramento Republic FC will have the chance to raise a cup before the season ends. The club will compete in the final of the USL Jägermeister Cup against the Hartford Athletic at Cal Expo’s Heart Health Park on Oct. 4. Tickets went on sale on Tuesday. The USL Cup began in 2024, featuring USL League One teams, which is a division below the Republic’s USL Championship. This year, all USL Championship teams joined the inter-league competition. For the Republic, the final will represent the first championship opportunity in Sacramento since the team won its league cup a decade ago in its inaugural season. Sacramento also made the final of another inter-season tournament, the U.S. Open Cup in 2022. That tournament featured the Republic besting three higher division Major League Soccer teams before losing in Orlando in the final. Captain Rodrigo “RoRo” López has been with Sacramento Republic FC for all three milestone moments. “We have the best fans in the league,” he said. “This is the best organization in the league and to be able to host the cup final is just very special for me, in particular. I’ve been here since the beginning and I was able to lift the cup and so many years have gone by and this club deserves more.” The Republic’s run in the USL Jägermeister Cup this year has succeeded in large part due to the performance of backup goalkeeper Jared Mazzola, who provided key saves in the last two matches, including when both went to penalties. “It’s been really, really fun being able to step into the role that is laid out for me,” Mazzola said. “So being able to do my part and help the team get to the final is really important and something that I hold in a high regard.” Meanwhile, the Republic remain in second place in their Western Conference in league play with just seven matches left in the regular season.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel

This is a project and a vision more than 12 years in the making with things moving into high gear over the past year with plans and renderings for the new stadium being released publicly.

When all is complete, the stadium should hold around 12,000 fans with the potential for expansion.

The team told KCRA 3 in recent weeks that the journey to get here hasn’t been easy, but that it’s all going to be worth it.

Republic FC said it expects vertical construction on the stadium to begin in early 2026.

Sacramento Republic FC adds veteran midfielder Justin Portillo to squad

Sacramento Republic FC has added an experienced attacking midfielder to its squad to help fill a void left by the season-ending injury of its longtime captain and playmaker Rodrigo López. The Republic said the club reached an agreement with FC Tulsa to transfer Justin Portillo to Sacramento. He’s expected to be available to play as soon as Saturday when the team takes on Monterey Bay FC on the road. Sacramento Republic FC remains undefeated one month into USL season

(FOX40.COM) — After their 2-0 road win over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, Sacramento Republic FC remains undefeated after one month of USL play.

The Indomitable Club opened their season on March 9 with a tie against Orange County and tied Indy Eleven on the road two weeks later; however, a pair of 1-0 wins against Miami FC and Memphis 901 FC in addition to their most recent win against Colorado has Republic FC sitting atop the USL Western Conference rankings with Orange County.
Video Above: Economic impact of A’s move to Sutter Health Park

Sacramento Republic FC dominated Saturday’s match from kickoff and never looked back. Sacramento got on the board with an early goal from scoring leader Trevor Amann, who has now scored four goals in five appearances for his new team.

Amann’s goal came in the match’s 5th minute off an assist from Russell Cicerone, who sent a ground cross into the middle of Colorado’s goalie box before Amann faked out a defender and launched the ball into the back of the net off his left foot.

Cicerone, last year’s Sacramento Republic FC scoring leader, added the match’s second and final goal in the 26th minute.

Amann almost extended the team’s lead after getting behind the Colorado defense and getting a one-on-one opportunity with their goalie at the beginning of the second half, however, his shot was just wide of the net.

Republic FC will look to improve on their undefeated season next Saturday at Heart Health Park against FC Tulsa at 7 p.m. The Oklahoma-based USL club recently tied Phoenix Rising 3-3 and sits in the No. 8 spot in the USL’s Western Conference.

  • Republic FC focusing on youth suicide prevention, will wear 988 patch for second season

Republic FC focusing on youth suicide prevention, will wear 988 patch for second season

(FOX40.COM) — In late December, U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Hallegere Murthy called mental health the “defining crisis of our time.”

In 2023, over 50,000 Americans died by suicide. That number is higher than any other year on record, according to NBC.
Video Above: Iron Rose Football Club set to take the field in 2024

In response to the mental health crisis, Sacramento Republic FC has decided that its players will continue to wear the 988 patch introduced by the organization last season. During the first year with 988 on the jerseys, the club reached over 600,000 people with the message that help is just three numbers away.

“It’s both exciting and humbling to be able to continue our work with Western Health Advantage and WellSpace Health to advance the work we got started,” said Republic FC Vice President of Community Investment Scott Moak. “The 988 patch on the sleeve was tremendous, but we have more to do.”

“Bringing attention to 988 as a lifeline helps improve the overall health of our community,” said Garry Maisel, CEO of Western Health Advantage. “The simplicity, accessibility, and responsiveness of 988 lets anyone struggling with mental health concerns know that support is just a phone call away.”

The National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline was established in 2005 and switched to a simple three-digit number in 2022. Through calls, texts, and online messaging, trained counselors can assist anyone who is in crisis, experiencing emotional distress, or help friends and family with loved ones they care about.

Last year, the club teamed up with California First Partner Jennifer Siebel-Newsom to release a 90-second PSA highlighting the simplicity behind the lifeline.

Republic FC’s new kits featuring the 988 patch will be released later in the week. Fans will be able to order them at Shop.SacRepublicFC.com to continue to help amplify the team’s message that help is only three digits away.

Republic FC’s season will begin on Saturday, March 9, when the club hosts Orange County SC at Heart Health Park. Kickoff from Heart Health Park is set for 7:00 p.m. and tickets are available now at SacRepublicFC.com/tickets.

All season-long, matches can be watched on FOX40.com or in the FOX40 app.
