Rylan Clark’s heartwrenching confession about mum Linda’s health

Rylan Clark made a heartbreaking confession about his mum Linda’s health during a recent interview.

The star, whose show with Rob Rinder, Passage to India, is on tonight (Sunday, September 21), was discussing the duo’s recent trip to India when the subject of his mother’s health came up.

Rylan and Rob’s trip to India was all fun and games. There was also a serious side to it, with Rob and Rylan discussing death and mortality during their time in Asia.

During a recent interview with Radio Times, Rylan, 36, while reflecting on the matter, admitted that the trip had not made him think about his health, but his mother’s.

“I’m more worried about losing my mum than losing my own life. I feel like coming back from Varanassi was eye-opening,” he said.

“It made me realise I’ve just got to enjoy things I’m doing, and if I’m not enjoying it, then don’t [bleeping] do it,” he then added.

Rob, meanwhile, admitted that he was afraid of dying.

Rylan has kept fans updated with mum Linda’s health, especially in light of her becoming a fan favourite on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Back in July, Rylan revealed that mum Linda, 73, hadn’t been well, and had been rushed to hospital.

“Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow. Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Especially Tanya, who really looked after my mum,” he said on Instagram at the time.

“Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper.”

Linda’s health battles

Later on, Rylan revealed that his mum was doing much better.

“She’s doing really well, thankfully. All going good. Cheers for all your messages.”

He then added: “She’s doing really well. Now chatting away with a lovely lady next to her. Cheers for all your messages,” he said.

Linda has been battling Crohn’s since her thirties. Crohn’s is a condition that causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive system.

Linda has had to undergo multiple operations to remove damaged parts of her bowel over the years.

In 2021, Rylan revealed that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer. “So Mummy, and it’s all fine, she’s got skin cancer on her face, but she’s absolutely fine. It’s not life-threatening and it’s just spread a little bit, so we’re getting it all cut away,” he said at the time.

In 2023, Linda suffered a horror fall in Marbella. She broke an arm and leg and had to have emergency surgery.

Rylan Clark makes huge decision following backlash over immigration comments

Rylan Clark has turned off the comments on his Instagram posts after the backlash over his immigration comments on This Morning.

The TV presenter came under fire last week following a heated debate on the ITV show following his controversial views on Nigel Farage and the small boat crisis. Hours later, he broke his silence and fired back in a statement.

And now, following the backlash, Rylan has disabled the comments on his Instagram posts.

Rylan Clark backlash over This Morning comments

Following his appearance on This Morning last week, Rylan has received a wave of backlash for sharing his thoughts on immigration.

On the show, Rylan explained that Farage is pledging to deport 600,000 migrants in his first term, if Reform gets into government. He then shared his point of view.

“I find it absolutely insane that all these people are, one, risking their lives to come across the Channel. And, two, when they get here, it does seem like: ‘Welcome. Come on in.’ This is the narrative we are being fed,” he said.

Rylan continued: “‘Here’s the hotel, here’s the phones, here’s the iPads, here’s the NHS in the reception of your hotel, here’s three meals a day, here’s a games room in the hotel. Have a lovely time, welcome.’L

What did Rylan say?

Rylan continued: “And then there’s people who have lived here all their lives. They are struggling. They are homeless. Let’s not even discuss our homeless. There are people living on the streets.

“Now this isn’t me getting on my soapbox. Let’s be honest, everyone is going to have an opinion, you’re going to upset someone. But I believe that something major needs to be done about this.”

Rylan added: “If I turn up at Heathrow Airport as a British citizen and I’ve left my passport in Spain, I’ve got to stand at that airport and won’t be let in. But if I arrive on a boat in Calais, I get taken to a four-star hotel.”

Rylan makes huge decision

Immediately after making his comments, This Morning viewers took to Twitter to share their fears that Rylan’s outspoken behaviour could see him cancelled.

And now, almost a week after he shared his thoughts, and following the backlash, Rylan has disabled the comments on two of his latest Instagram posts.

His post responding to the backlash originally had the comments turned on. But they have now been turned off, meaning social media users are unable to comment.

Similarly, a photo Rylan uploaded of him posing on the red carpet at the premiere of his TV show Dating Naked, also has the comments section disabled.

Rylan Clark on mother’s ‘six-figure’ medical treatment: ‘A hundred grand that woman’s cost me’

Last year, Rylan Clark rushed his mum, Linda, to hospital after she suffered a nasty fall while on holiday.

During an interview in March, Rylan revealed just how much his mum’s medical bills cost – and it’s an eye-watering amount.

In September 2023, Rylan revealed that his 71-year-old mum, Linda, had had a nasty fall while they were holidaying in Spain.

He wrote about the incident – which saw her rushed to hospital – on Instagram.

“So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she’s had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out here,” he said at the time.

“She’s not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated,” he then continued.

“My priority at the moment is my mum.”

A few days later, he posted a picture of Linda bandaged up – but smiling – in a hospital bed.

“Someone is out of the bed and in a chair. She can’t believe how many people have sent messages. Thanks everyone. Will update you all with more as I can,” he wrote.

Rylan Clark reveals his mum’s medical bills

Six months later, in March of this year, Rylan appeared on Kathy Burke’s podcast, Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake.

During the chat, Kathy said: “A good two week annual holiday is very, very important.”

“Yeah. I would like to have a holiday. I mean, I did, and then took me mum to Marbella and she flipping fell on the floor,” Rylan then said.

The pair then discussed Linda’s medical costs.

“A hundred grand, that woman’s cost me,” Rylan exclaimed. “Forty-eight grand for a f**king medical jet?” he then exclaimed.

Rylan in talks for new project with Josie Gibson

In other Rylan-related news, the 35-year-old is reportedly in talks for a new TV project with Josie Gibson.

The reported talks come not long after the pair missed out on landing the job of hosting This Morning full-time.

“It’s no secret that Josie and Rylan both felt a little hurt by ITV, and given they’re such good mates and love working together, they’ve been in talks about joining forces for a new project in the hope of becoming the next big TV power couple,” a source told Closer.

“They’ve always got a huge amount of great feedback when they hosted This Morning together and they have an incredible chemistry, both on and off screen, which has been picked up on by TV bosses who think they have the potential to be the next Richard and Judy.”
