  • Reiner children say memorial planning is underway for Rob, Michele

    The family of Rob and Michele Reiner are working on a memorial for the couple, who were slain last weekend at their Brentwood home.

    In a statement Monday, children Jake and Romy Reiner thanked the public for the outpouring of support and said details about a memorial will be coming.

    Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood home Dec. 14. Nick Reiner, 32, was charged Tuesday with their murders.

    Reiner also faces a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon, a knife, in the crime, L.A. County Dist. Atty. Nathan Hochman said during a news conference announcing the murder charges last week.

    On the afternoon the Reiners were found, a massage therapist showed up at the home for a weekly session with the couple. When there was no answer at the gate, the therapist called Romy Reiner, who arrived at the home and discovered her father’s body, according to a source close to the Reiner family who spoke on condition of anonymity.

    In a statement last week, the children said: “We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”

    Nick Reiner has been accused of murdering his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner… Has he started processing any of it?

    Well, the answer is pretty eerie. As you know, the devastating and horrific murders of the director and his wife have shook the world. And all the new information coming out about them in the recent days just makes this case all the more heartbreaking.

    We first heard Nick was arrested after their daughter Romy found their bodies and allegedly said her brother was the perpetrator… Then we found out the 32-year-old had reportedly been struggling with addiction and schizophrenia.

    Just a sad situation all-around. And now, an insider for TMZ is revealing how the accused murderer is doing in custody.

    According to the source, Nick isn’t showing any signs of grief because he’s currently “in a fog” — which is allegedly at least partially being caused by his mental health and medication he’s taking. He’s also being described as “calm, cognizant”, but “dazed”. This is much different than what he was described as before the murders, which was “erratic” and “dangerous”.

    Sources tell TMZ he’s nowhere close to processing any of this. Wow.

    We, of course, won’t get much more info on Nick until his arraignment on January 7. Right now, though, he’s been reportedly placed on suicide watch.

    Our heart continues to be with Rob and Michele’s loved ones. May they rest in peace.
