Rihanna set to light up Super Bowl LVII. Here’s how much she’s worth.

When Rihanna takes the stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday, she will embody not only a musician who scaled the charts to become a global superstar but also an even rarer accomplishment: She’s one of the world’s few self-made female billionaires

Rihanna has a net worth of $1.4 billion, making her the richest musician and the second wealthiest female entertainer, after Oprah, who is worth $2.5 billion, according to Forbes magazine.

While music is what made Rihanna famous, it’s her Fenty beauty line that has taken her wealth into the stratosphere. The singer, who debuted her makeup line in 2017, gained fans for the brand’s diverse range of colors that offered foundations in a wide variety of skin tones.

Fenty Beauty — branded after Rihanna’s real name, Robyn Fenty — is a 50/50 venture with French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, which also owns major fashion brands like Louis Vuitton. The Fenty line generated more than $550 million in sales in 2020, Forbes noted.

Rihanna also owns a 30% stake in the Savage x Fenty lingerie line, which raised $115 million in funding at a $1 billion valuation in February 2021, the magazine noted.

Billionaires’ lists are typically dominated by White men, ranging from self-made billionaires such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to people who inherited great wealth, such as Jim Walton, a son of Walmart founder Sam Walton. Rihanna told the New York Times in 2021 that she hoped her new billionaire status would inspire others like her.

“[I]t feels good to be able to inspire young women and boys, who like me, come from humble beginnings, who come from parents who are immigrants or who are immigrants themselves, to be able to do this,” she told the publication.

Rihanna echoed some of those sentiments with CBS News, noting that she wants her halftime performance to provide representation for immigrants — she’s originally from Barbados — as well as Black women.

“Representing for immigrants, representing for my country, Barbados, representing for Black women everywhere,” Rihanna said. “That’s really important, that’s key for people to see the possibilities. And I’m honored to be here, and I’m honored to be doing this, this year.”

Global icon, singer and new mom Rihanna is gearing up to take over the biggest stage of the year.

The Oscar nominee sat down with Nate Burleson ahead of the Apple Music Halftime show and said that when she was asked to perform, she had to really consider whether she was ready to make her long-awaited return to the stage after seven years.

“It was so scary because it was kind of unexpected to come back from 0 to Super Bowl, that’s kind of nuts,” she said.

Motherhood appears to have had an impact on Rihanna. The business mogul, who created the Fenti Beauty line, welcomed a son in May with rapper A$AP Rocky. Now Rihanna said that any opportunity she receives now “has to feel worth it.”

“Nothing is worthy of your time away from your kid,” Rihanna said.

During a Super Bowl press interview yesterday, Rihanna shed some light on what the creative process has been like so far in preparing for Sunday’s performance. She said that her setlist has changed 39 times leading up to the show and told Burleson that she may have a surprise for viewers.

“I’m thinking about bringing someone, I’m not sure,” she teased.

Rihanna will take center stage this Sunday for one of the most watched events of the year, the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The global superstar gave a sneak peak Thursday into what the creative process has been like so far.

In an interview with Apple Music, the businesswoman and musician said her setlist has changed 39 times leading up to the show.

“Every little change counts, whether I want like a guitar cut out, something muted, something added, or just put in a whole new song, or take out a whole song,” Rihanna told Apple Music, in an interview that took place at the Phoenix Convention Center. “Every time I make a change, something has to be updated and that’s a new version.”

Rihanna’s performance Super Bowl LVII has been highly anticipated, not just because of her level of stardom, but because it has been nearly seven years since she last performed on stage. She has also not released an album since 2016’s “Anti.”

Last May, she welcomed her first child, with her boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky. And in August 2021, Forbes announced that the beauty and fashion mogul had joined the billionaire’s club

Like previous Super Bowl performers, Rihanna described the challenge of delivering a full setlist of music in a 13-minute span. She also spoke on the importance of representation, and how she plans to pay homage to her Caribbean heritage.

“Representing for immigrants, tepresenting for my country, Barbados, tepresenting for Black women everywhere,” Rihanna said. “That’s really important, that’s key for people to see the possibilities. And I’m honored to be here, and I’m honored to be doing this, this year.”

Kickoff for Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at State Farm Stadium, in Glendale, Arizona.

  • Trump Declares There’s Only One Good Thing About Super Bowl Halftime Queen Rihanna

Trump Declares There’s Only One Good Thing About Super Bowl Halftime Queen Rihanna

    [ad_1]

Trump declared Thursday that the wildly popular singer has “NO TALENT!” and is “bad everything.”

The only thing Rihanna has going for her is her stylist, Trump ranted. “Without her ‘Stylist’ she’d be NOTHING,” he bizarrely posted on his Truth Social platform.

New mom Rihanna is one of the top female singers in the U.S. and the world. She has earned $1.7 billion with her music. Her appearance Sunday at the Super Bowl, in which the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs, will be her eagerly anticipated first live performance in seven years.

Trump attacked the singer after his former White House physician, Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) — who once gushed about the “excellent” health of the overweight ex-president — complained that Rihanna had spray-painted “Fuck Donald Trump” on a car at the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas.

At Cadillac Ranch, an outdoor art installation that pays homage to the evolution of the Cadillac tail fin, 10 Cadillacs are half-buried in the ground, nose-first. Visitors are encouraged to spray-paint the cars. Rihanna took the opportunity to express her politics during a visit in 2020.

“She’s made a career of spewing degenerate filth while badmouthing America every chance she gets,” railed Jackson, who blasted the NFL’s decision to make her the halftime star.

Trump has repeatedly accused Democrats of working to censor those they don’t agree with. Yet Trump and Jackson appear to be pushing to bar Rihanna from appearing at the Super Bowl.

Twitter fans responded by hailing their indomitable queen.

There was no immediate response from Rihanna.

New this week: Shania, ‘Princess Power’ and Pamela Anderson

    [ad_1]

Here’s a collection curated by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists of what’s arriving on TV, streaming services and music and video game platforms this week.

    MOVIES

    — If you haven’t managed to catch “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” yet, the Marvel sequel arrives on Disney+ on Wednesday with a batch of five Oscar nominations to its name, including best supporting actress for Angela Bassett and original song (“Lift Me Up,” music by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Göransson; lyrics by Tems and Ryan Coogler). In his review, AP Film Writer Jake Coyle wrote that, “‘Wakanda Forever’ is overlong, a little unwieldy and somewhat mystifyingly steers toward a climax on a barge in the middle of the Atlantic. But Coogler’s fluid command of mixing intimacy with spectacle remains gripping.”

    — Pamela Anderson has been making headlines again for revelations in the documentary “Pamela, A Love Story,” coming to Netflix on Tuesday. After many people trying tell her story for her — including in the recent Hulu series “Pam & Tommy” which Anderson chose not to contribute to and called “salt on the wound” and “not necessary” — she tells her story herself through archival footage and personal journals. Ryan White (“The Keepers,” “Ask Dr. Ruth” and “Goodnight Oppy”) directs.

    — For the kids, “Lyle, Lyle Crocodile” also comes to Netflix on Saturday, Feb. 4. The movie based on the popular Bernard Waber series is hybrid live action/ CGI and a musical as well, featuring Shawn Mendes as the titular Crocodile Lyle. Constance Wu, Javier Bardem and Scoot McNairy also star. The story focuses on a family who has recently relocated to New York City and their son (Winslow Fegley) is struggling to adapt until the caviar-loving crocodile enters his life.

    MUSIC

    — Shania Twain kicks off her new album with a strut — the infectious line-dance-inducing “Giddy Up!” “I want people to feel good when they hear the new album. I want to set a celebratory tone,” she explains. The five-time Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter’s sixth album “Queen of Me” is released on Friday, Feb. 3. Songs among the 12-track set include the glistening pop of “Waking Up Dreaming” and “Inhale/Exhale Air,” which she wrote after her battle with COVID-19.

    — The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in May and you can get ahead by listening to one of Ireland’s shortlisted entries, the moving “Hawaii” from Public Image Ltd. It’s the band’s first music in eight years and it’s a love letter to band leader John Lydon’s wife, who is living with Alzheimer’s disease. “It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most,” says the former Sex Pistols frontman. All six of Ireland’s hopefuls will compete on Ireland’s “The Late Late Show” on Friday, Feb. 3 streaming worldwide.

    — Take a trip back in time to 2012 for a front-row seat to what The Rolling Stones call “one of the most memorable shows in the band’s history.” That was the night in New Jersey that featured guest appearances by The Black Keys, Gary Clark Jr., John Mayer, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen. The set is being released as “GRRR Live!” and a video on demand from the band’s website will stream for $9.99. Tune in Thursday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. GMT, 8 p.m. ET, 8 p.m. PT and 8 p.m. AWST on Friday, Feb. 3. It has not been available to fans since it originally aired on pay-per-view in 2012.

    TELEVISION

    — Drew Barrymore and Savannah Guthrie have teamed up to executive produce a new animated children’s series on Netflix called “Princess Power.” The show centers around Penny Pineapple, Kira Kiwi, Bea Blueberry, and Rita Raspberry, all princesses who are devoted to help others while teaching young viewers about inclusivity, diversity, teamwork and friendship. It’s based on Guthrie’s bestselling children’s book “Princesses Wear Pants.” Guest stars on “Princess Power” are voiced by Rita Moreno, Andrew Rannells, Tan France, Jenna Ushkowitz and Guthrie as well. All 14 episodes drop Monday.

    — The relationship between the U.S. and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin may be strained now due to the war in Ukraine, but his clashes with American presidents goes back further than with President Biden. A new PBS “Frontline” documentary called “Putin and the Presidents,” delves into Putin’s interaction with the last five U.S. presidents as rebuilding the Russian empire seems to be his priority. It debuts Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on PBS but check station listings to confirm local broadcast info.

    — The fishing industry in Iceland is a major export commodity but a controversial quota where individuals and companies are allowed to catch and sell a predetermined number of fish per year, is a politically-charged issue. A new series called “Blackport,” is based on a true story and follows a couple who take advantage of that quota in the 1980s to control a large part of the market. The success goes to their heads leading to greed, corruption, jealousy and deception. The eight-episode series has been picked up by the streaming service Topic where you can subscribe directly or add its channel on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV or Roku. The first three episodes drop Thursday with the remaining five doled out weekly.

    VIDEO GAMES

    — From Fallout to The Last of Us to Horizon, there are post-apocalyptic video games in every flavor. But what do people do before the apocalypse? That’s the question Scavengers Studio tries to answer in Season: A Letter to the Future. The protagonist, Estelle, knows a cataclysm is coming, so she sets out on her bicycle to record the wonders and unravel the mysteries of her strange world before all heck breaks loose. It’s a remarkably chill journey, given the stakes — Estelle is equipped with a camera and a notebook rather than a rocket launcher or a flamethrower. But if you’re in the mood for a more pensive approach to the end of the world, Season debuts Tuesday on PlayStation 5/4 and PC.

  • Your Guide To The 2023 NFL Playoffs

Your Guide To The 2023 NFL Playoffs

    [ad_1]

This Saturday kicks off the biggest holiday weekend since New Years: the NFL Playoffs. With the Wild Card round beginning January 14 and streaming acrossing all ESPN platforms, America is about to run on football playoffs.

All 32 teams play 17 regular season games for a chance to get to the Playoffs and win it all. And we’ll be updating you with all of the 2023 NFL Playoff news you’ll need each week. Starting off with this weekend’s Wild Card Round:

    The Wild Card Round

    Jeff Dean/AP/Shutterstock

The NFL splits their 32 teams into two conferences: the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference. During the Wild Card round this weekend, there will be six games: three AFC games and three NFC games.

Since the #1 team from each conference has a bye week, they won’t play until the weekend of the 20th during the Divisional Round. Both the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will benefit with the rest from the bye, and will face the lowest seed from the winners of the Wild Card Round.

According to the ESPN website, the games will go as follows:

    NFC

    (7) Seattle Seahawks at (2) San Francisco 49ers

    (6) New York Giants at (3) Minnesota Vikings

    (5) Dallas Cowboys at (4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    Bye: (1)
    Philadelphia Eagles

    AFC

    (7) Miami Dolphins at (2) Buffalo Bills

    (6) Baltimore Ravens at (3) Cincinnati Bengals

    (5) Los Angeles Chargers at (4) Jacksonville Jaguars

    Bye: (1)
    Kansas City Chiefs

After the Wild Card round, teams will be re-seeded by the NFL. This ultimately becomes more fun if there are upsets. For example, if the New York Giants beat the Minnesota Vikings and Justin Jefferson, the Giants may have a chance to play the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round. Since both the Giants and the Eagles are in the same division during the regular season, this would be their third time playing each other this year.

    The Divisional Round

Typically throughout the playoffs, the highest seeded teams get home field advantage until the Super Bowl. The Divisional Round games will be played in Kansas City and Philadelphia, as will the AFC and NFC Championships if both teams advance.

On January 29, the final two games before the Super Bowl will commence. The remaining highest-seeded teams will have home field advantage. However, if the Chiefs end up playing the Buffalo Bills, the game will be held at a neutral site in Atlanta.

The neutral location decision was determined after the tragic Damar Hamlin injury during the Bengals-Bills game. Since the game was ruled a “no contest,” the Chiefs automatically became the #1 seed.

The respective winners from the AFC and NFC Championship games will meet in Glendale, Arizona on February 12 for Super Bowl LVII. Get ready for commercials, the Rihanna halftime show, and some of the best football you’ll see all year.

    What Makes The Playoffs Fun?

    Jalen Hurts

    Chris Szagola/AP/Shutterstock

This year, everyone has something to prove in the playoffs. We are potentially seeing Tom Brady’s final year at QB after a 27-year reign in the NFL. Fan favorite Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals is looking for a return to the Super Bowl after losing to the Los Angeles Rams last year – and that’s not all.

The New York Giants are seeing playoff contention for the first time in years, and the San Francisco 49er’s will be led by third-string QB, last pick in the NFL Draft, Brock Purdy. Purdy has 1,374 yards and a pass completion of 67.1%, showing he maybe isn’t Mr. Irrelevant after all.

Young teams like the Los Angeles Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars will have chances to prove themselves. Lamar Jackson will make his return to the Baltimore Ravens after battling an injury towards the end of the season, while the Buffalo Bills led by a Josh Allen-Stefon Diggs duo will be hard to beat.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a slow start to the season, but have had a Cinderella story throughout. We have more exciting teams like the Seattle Seahawks, led by potential Comeback Player of the Year, Geno Smith, and the Philadelphia Eagles and KC Chiefs are looking to prove why they’re the #1 seed.

The stakes are high. Playing at the highest level of the game means anything can happen. While you may think the script is written and the best teams on paper will win, I have a feeling the playoffs are going to consist of some major upsets.

Rihanna Skips Golden Globes Red Carpet But Steals The Show Anyway

    [ad_1]

Rihanna didn’t emerge from Tuesday’s Golden Globes a winner, but her presence seemed to shine bright like a diamond throughout the ceremony nonetheless.

The first-time nominee, for her song “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” looked stunning in a black ballgown by Schiaparelli Couture. She and longtime boyfriend A$AP Rocky opted for a low-key entrance, skipping the red carpet outside the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, altogether.

But true to form, the pop queen ― who welcomed her first child, a son, last year ― was one of the Golden Globes’ most buzzed-about attendees. She earned playful shoutouts from the evening’s host, Jerrod Carmichael, along with presenters Niecy Nash and Billy Porter.

“I’m going to say something very controversial. I will actually get in trouble for this: Rihanna, you take all the time you want on that album, girl,” joked Carmichael. “Don’t let these fools on the internet pressure you into nothing!”

Both Nash and Porter sang Rihanna’s praises, too.

“Rihanna, I love you, and I dressed up as you for Halloween,” Nash said before presenting an award to “Abbott Elementary” actor and creator Quinta Brunson. “Had to take my moment.”

Later in the show, Porter quipped: “If I believed in Halloween, I would have dressed up as Rihanna as well.”

Rihanna’s Golden Globes appearance comes just weeks ahead of her hotly anticipated halftime show at Super Bowl LVII. Earlier this week, the NFL teased that performance with a short video on Instagram showing the singer in a football-themed hoodie from her new Savage X Fenty collection.

“5 weeks from today,” the post’s caption read.

As Carmichael hinted at the Golden Globes, many fans and media outlets are speculating that Rihanna’s halftime show will be a precursor for new music. She hasn’t released a full-length studio album since 2016′s “Anti,” which featured the hits “Work” and “Kiss it Better.”

Rihanna, however, has shrugged off those suggestions.

“That’s not true. Super Bowl is one thing,” she told The Associated Press in November. “New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans?”

According to Celebs, Thigh-High Boots Are the It Shoes of 2023—Here’s Proof

    [ad_1]

Leave it to celebs to be fashion’s earliest adopters. Sure, we may still only be at the crack of 2023 but our favorite A-listers are already testing out one of next season’s most notable emerging trends: over-the-knee boots. Now, knee boots have reigned supreme for several seasons but based on our evidence, spring 2023 is when our staple boots will start creeping ever higher over the knee.

They’ve been making a big impact on recent runways, too, cameoing at Diesel, Fendi, Jil Sander, and Bottega Veneta, just to name a few and while our initial reaction was one of hesitation since OTK boots are notoriously tricky to style, we’re positive that they’ll become the biggest boot trend of spring 2023 after seeing how celebs are wearing them.

From Rihanna to Emily Ratajkowski and Dua Lipa to Margot Robbie, the sheer number of celebrity outfits we’ve spotted with over-the-knee boots have us questioning whether they’ll replace our knee boots for good. All the proof your need is up ahead.

My Favorite Celeb Looks Happen Courtside—7 Outfits I’d Wear to a Game

    [ad_1]

Fashion people are stereotyped as being more interested in the latest controversial runway trend than sports. I grew up as an overly dedicated football fan, so for me, that isn’t necessarily true. If you’re a person who loves fashion and sports, I can guess that you already know the thrill of getting dressed up to go to a basketball game.

Contrary to sporting events where the stars hide in private boxes, the best part of an NBA game is seeing your favorite celebrities front and center. Since they’re wildly on display when seated courtside, celebrities tend to arrive dressed to impress, which always inspires me to do the same.

In 2023, I want to do more activities in New York City, so I decided that a trip to Barclays Center is definitely on my to-do list. As I start to think about what I’ll wear to this exciting event, I’m browsing my favorite celebrity courtside moments. Below, find seven potential outfits to choose from.

  • An Animated Debate: Which Feature Will Bring Home the Oscar?

An Animated Debate: Which Feature Will Bring Home the Oscar?

    [ad_1]

This was such a good year for animation. Last year it truly boiled down to “Encanto vs. Mitchells”, but the field is wide open, so let’s run it down with the help of Vareity!

With Disney/Pixar, we have Turning Red, a critical darling. Not commercial, because Disney didn’t give it a wide release….and Lightyear and Strange World, both of which did receive wide releases, flopped, and are non-entities in this race. Turning Red, which marks the first from Pixar to be solely directed by a woman, has received critical acclaim for Shi’s depictions of female friendships and the mother-daughter relationship.

OP Note: TR is still probably my favorite film of the year.

Netflix has quite a lot, including The Sea Beast, their most successful animated film to date. There’s also My Father’s Dragon, the latest from Cartoon Saloon, which hit the platform with a mild splash. Of course, there’s Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, which is almost guaranteed to place in the nominations.

The article does not, however, mention Henry Selick’s Wendell and Wild.

OP Note: Sea Beast was fine enough, and GDT’s Pinocchio was really cool. Nice to see a multitude of stop motion available, sad W&W isn’t getting more attention.

GKIDS missed a nomination last year with Belle (tip: the soundtrack is amazing), but with Inu-Oh already being nominated for a Golden Globe, maybe they can take it all the way (and give us a US release, y/y?).

Did you, like most people, forget Dreamworks Animation had not one, but two films this year? The Bad Guys had a fairly slow rollout worldwide with it’s soft, almost Spider-verse-esque style for a bunch of criminals. It sadly seems to have sunk out of the public conciousness. Meanwhile, the sixth entry into the Shrek franchise, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, may be 11 years too late, but it was worth the wait, with very positive reviews, and a bombastic artstyle and story that stops just short of saying memento mori.

OP Note: Ok, maybe Puss in Boots is my favorite this year?

Welcome to the animation side, A24, and welcome Marcel The Shell With Shoes On. I didn’t like it. But I’m glad another stop motion/live action hybrid is making the rounds, and is winning a lot of smaller circuits!

Musician Rihanna on Saturday posted, for the first time, video of her infant son, who she shares with her boyfriend, rapper A$AP Rocky. Although the couple welcomed their first child back in May, they have not yet announced the boy’s name, and neither had posted any pictures or videos of him until now.

The beauty and fashion entrepreneur captioned the 45-second TikTok video “hacked.”

“You’re trying to get mommy’s phone?” Rihanna asked her baby boy, as he laughs and attempts to grab the phone.

The video had garnered over 2.5 million likes and nine million views as of Saturday night.

The 34-year-old singer, who also announced earlier this year that she would be performing in the upcoming Super Bowl LVII halftime show, shared with Entertainment Tonight last month what she loves about motherhood.

“The mornings, like, seeing his morning face! Seeing a baby with, like, little bags and waking up, and they’re just, like, startled. They’re trying to figure out where they’re at. It’s the cutest, it’s my favorite part of the day,” the singer said

According to Forbes, Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, officially joined the billionaire’s club last year, thanks in part to her stakes in makeup line Fenty Beauty, and lingerie brand Savage X Fenty. She and 34-year-old A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayer, have been dating since 2020, according to ET.

The world’s getting a first look at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky‘s baby boy, and get ready for some serious cuteness overload!

Riri took to TikTok on Saturday morning and posted a 45-second clip of her baby, whose name the singer has not yet revealed. In the video, the baby’s sitting in his car seat looking like he’s having the time of his life, laughing and making all kinds of cute baby faces.

It appears Rihanna’s in the background also getting a kick out of the baby’s many expressions. At one point, the baby boy, who is wearing a brown jacket, lets out a cute little yawn and even tries taking the phone away from his famous mama.

In photos obtained by Page Six, the family of three hit up a beach Friday for what appeared to be a photoshoot. Riri looked stunning in a black dress while Rocky opted for an all-black leather ensemble.

The “Umbrella” singer and “Fashion Killa” rapper welcomed their first child together back in May. Last month, a source told ET that the singer has more babies on her mind. The source said that the Barbados Babe always dreamed of being a mom and takes so much pride in it that she would love nothing more than to have more children with Rocky in the future.

Rihanna also recently shared with ET her favourite part about motherhood so far.

“Oh my god, the mornings, like, seeing his morning face! Seeing a baby with, like, little bags and waking up and they’re just, like, startled. They’re trying to figure out where they’re at. It’s the cutest, it’s my favourite part of the day,” the singer told ET’s Rachel Smith.

Rihanna noted that she “cherished” moments like that with her son, also admitting that she has already taken to singing to the baby, making “freestyle” songs whenever she can.

“He’s amazing, he’s a happy baby,” the new mom shared.

“Hacked,” the singer-actress-designer Rihanna joked with a TikTok caption on Saturday. In reality, she was showing off her seven-month-old son, and giving the public their first glimpse at the child she and A$AP Rocky (Rakim Mayers) co-parent.

The name of the young social media star has yet to be revealed. It is the first child for both parents, whose relationship was first confirmed in late 2020

The 45-second clip shows the youngster giggling in a car seat. In between coos, Rihanna is heard asking “are you trying to get Mommy’s phone?” Further evidence shows that … he might, indeed, be trying to do just that! (See for yourself, it’s very cute.)

In April, Rihanna said in an interview that the pregnancy was not exactly planned, but they also weren’t planning against it. “I don’t know when I ovulate or any of that type of shit. We just had fun. And then it was just there on the test,” she said.

Of her relationship with the New York-born member of the A$AP Mob, she said the whole thing was an unlikely situation, considering that they had a long history as friends. “People don’t get out of the friend zone very easily with me,” she said. “And I certainly took a while to get over how much I know him and how much he knows me, because we also know how much trouble we can land each other in.” They bonded during the pandemic, however, taking a road trip from Los Angeles to New York City.

The two first collaborated on the 2012 track “Cockiness.” Rocky then joined Rihanna’s 2013 Diamonds World Tour as her opening act for the North American. Whispers of the two being an item began in 2018, when they sat side-by-side at a Louis Vuitton show.

  • Rihanna Celebrates First-Ever Golden Globe Nomination For ‘Lift Me Up’

Rihanna Celebrates First-Ever Golden Globe Nomination For ‘Lift Me Up’

    [ad_1]

It’s time to pour it up. Rihanna is officially a 2023 Golden Globe nominee!

The nominations for next year’s Golden Globes were announced on Monday, and the iconic singer earned her first nomination for Best Original Song for her comeback single “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The song joins other nominees in the category, including “Carolina” (“Where the Crawdads Sing”), “Ciao Papa” (Guillermo del Toro’s “Pinocchio”), “Hold My Hand” (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and “Naatu Naatu” (“RRR”).

On Monday, the 34-year-old celebrated the news on Twitter. “God be showin out! @goldenglobes,” she tweeted alongside a heart emoji and prayer hands.

“Lift Me Up” marked Rihanna’s first solo effort in over six years following the release of her eighth studio album “Anti,” and the first full track since her feature on PartyNextDoor’s song “Believe It” back in 2020.

Also written by Tems, Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson and “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, the ballad for the “Wakanda Forever” soundtrack was created as a eulogy to honor the late Chadwick Boseman.

Boseman, who starred in 2018’s Marvel blockbuster “Black Panther” as the iconic T’Challa/Black Panther, died in August 2020 at the age of 43 following a four-year battle with colon cancer.

Rihanna also released “Born Again” two weeks after the release of “Lift Me Up” as another contribution to the highly anticipated soundtrack.

In October, Coogler gushed to Entertainment Tonight about being “forever grateful” for Rihanna ending her musical hiatus to contribute to the sentimental track.

“I’ll say this, I didn’t get [Rihanna] to do anything. I don’t think anybody can get her to do anything, she’s a person who marches to the beat of her own drum,” the filmmaker said. “I’m just thankful that she wanted to contribute to this, and I’ll be forever grateful and not just to her, but all the other fantastic musicians that are on the soundtrack.”

The 2023 Golden Globes will broadcast live Jan. 10 on NBC and Peacock at 8:00 p.m. EST.
