All the celebrity bob haircuts of 2024

    [ad_1]

Is 2024 the year of celebrity bob haircuts? Judging by the red carpets, awards shows, and fashion events we’ve seen thus far, it certainly seems so.

Bob haircuts dominated the Golden Globes and Emmys red carpets, and J.Lo and Rihanna debuted especially chic, and somehow wildly different, chops while in Paris for Haute Couture Week. And to think we’re not even a full month into the year!

This, of course, comes as no surprise. Because while many hair trends come and go, the bob haircut will truly never go out of style. Going chin length makes an immediate statement, grabbing attention and putting focus on your face. Shorter haircuts are also significantly less high-maintenance over all.

But best of all? Bobs are extremely versatile. From the undone bob to the lob, there is no one way, no “right” way, to wear a bob. Just take it from the handful of celebrities boarding the bob train this year.

No matter your bob preference, the best celebrity bob haircuts of 2024 are sure to inspire your next chop. Ahead, see all of our favourite bobs of the year, and get ready to screenshot for inspo.

  • The Smiths’ Johnny Marr Tells Trump To Stop Using His Music – ‘Consider This Shut Right Down’

The Smiths’ Johnny Marr Tells Trump To Stop Using His Music – ‘Consider This Shut Right Down’

Johnny Marr, a singer and guitarist in the band The Smiths, is speaking out this week to demand that the former President Donald Trump stop playing his music during his campaign rallies.

    Marr Sounds Off Against Trump

Earlier this week, video went viral showing The Smiths’ 1984 hit “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” being played at a Trump rally in Rapid City, South Dakota.

This didn’t sit well with Marr, who fired back by demanding that Trump stop using his music.

“Ahh…right…OK,” Marr wrote. “I never in a million years would’ve thought this could come to pass. Consider this s— shut right down right now.”

Marr’s comments are in contrast to those made by the former The Smiths frontman Morrissey, who has spoken out against woke leftwing cancel culture in recent years.

“People could make five flops and the label would stick by them, now the labels are quite bloodless, they will just get rid of you if you say anything that they don’t agree with, they’re not interested,” Morrissey said in 2022, according to Fox News. “Now they talk about ‘oh, we must have diversity, diversity, diversity.’ Diversity is people that you don’t know, and it’s just another word for conformity, it’s the new way of saying conformity.”

    Other Musicians Make Same Demand

Marr is the latest in a long line of musicians to demand that Trump stop using their music. Others who have done so include The Rolling Stones, Pharrell Williams, Linkin Park, Rihanna, Village People and Tom Petty’s estate. Back in 2019, Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and wife Sharon Osbourne issued a statement saying that they no longer wanted Trump to use the song “Crazy Train” at his rallies.

“Based on this morning’s unauthorized use of Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Crazy Train,’ we are sending notice to the Trump campaign (or any other campaigns) that they are forbidden from using any of Ozzy Osbourne’s music in political ads or in any political campaigns,” they said in a statement posted to Sharon’s Instagram.

“Ozzy’s music cannot be used for any means without approvals,” they added.

    Neil Young Sues Trump

The singer Neil Young went so far as to file a lawsuit against Trump for copyright infringement for using his music in 2020.

“This is NOT ok with me…,” Young wrote on social media in reaction to his songs “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Devil’s Sidewalk” being played at a Trump rally in Tampa, Florida. In his initial complaint, Young stated that he “cannot allow his music to be used as a ‘theme song’ for a divisive, un-American campaign of ignorance and hate,” according to The New York Post.

Full Story: Liberal Rocker Neil Young Files Lawsuit Against President Trump For Alleged Copyright Infringement

Young had previously said that he had “nothing against” Trump using his music legally.

“He actually got a license to use it,” he said. “I mean, he said he did and I believe him … But if the artist who made it is saying you never spoke to them, if that means something to you, you probably will stop playing it. And it meant something to Donald and he stopped.”

Despite filing this lawsuit, Young went on to quietly and voluntarily dismiss the case in New York courts.

Trump typically ignores singers when they demand he stop using his music. It remains to be seen whether he will heed Marr’s demands, or continue using The Smiths’ songs during his rallies.

The Elegant Color Every Celeb Will Be Wearing in 2024

    [ad_1]

The spring 2024 runway collections were stocked full of trends, from sophisticated takes on sheer to dramatically overstuffed handbags, but out of all of them, none made quite as impactful of a splash as oxblood (otherwise known as black cherry, merlot, or burgundy), the shade of red on every fashion person’s lips (and in their closets) right now. Found at Hermès, Gucci, Valentino, Versace, Tom Ford, and then some, the elegant yet moody hue is no doubt campaigning to be the color of the year.

Helping out on the campaign trail are celebs, who’ve come out in droves to support the rise of oxblood, wearing it on red carpets, to fashion shows, and on the streets of cities like New York and London. And since the spring collections haven’t even arrived in stores yet, I can only imagine that the best A-list burgundy looks are still to come. Scroll down to check out the chicest examples so far of celebs wearing 2024’s color of the year.

Kyle Richards was seen spending time with Rihanna at Kemo Sabe last week as her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, posed shirtless on a ski slope.

While in Aspen for the holidays with Mauricio, 53, and her four daughters, Farrah Aldjufrie, 35, Alexia Umansky, 27, Sophia Umansky, 23, and Portia Umansky, 15, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 54, shared a photo of her run-in with the singer as she and Mauricio rang in the new year with separate photos on their Instagram Stories, one of which featured a shirtless Mauricio on a ski slope.

“Beautiful inside and out [Rihanna] … Making new memories at [Kemo Sabe],” Kyle captioned her pic, which included her three oldest daughters.

According to a December 29 report from TMZ, Kyle met Rihanna after venturing to Kemo Sabe for some VIP shopping last Thursday. As the outlet explained, Rihanna was at the store when Kyle arrived. And after a staff member told Kyle that Rihanna was there, Kyle requested a meeting.

Because Rihanna had gone to Kemo Sabe because she’d seen Kyle go there on RHOBH, she was completely on board with a meeting. When the idea was mentioned to her, she reportedly told the employee, “F-ck yes!!!”

After Kyle shared a hug and enjoyed a “fun conversation” with Rihanna, per TMZ, Mauricio and their daughters came up to meet Rihanna and her partner, A$AP Rocky, who had their kids with them as well.

Nearly an hour later, and after Kyle gifted Rihanna an $895 turquoise beaver hat, the group left.

In addition to their run-in with Rihanna, Kyle and Mauricio both celebrated the new year in Aspen, although it is unclear whether or not they did so together.

In a post shared on Mauricio’s Instagram Story, he was seen posing shirtless with Farrah, Alexia, and a couple of other women on a ski slope in front of a champagne display.

Meanwhile, Kyle was seen watching fireworks on her own Instagram Stories.

“Adios 2023 … It’s been real,” she wrote in the caption.

As RHOBH fans may know, Mauricio has been spending tons of time in Aspen in recent weeks — and he hasn’t been seen doing so alone. Instead, he’s been spotted at dinner with influencer Alexandria Wolfe, 31, and on a ski outing with Brazilian singer Anitta, 30, and YouTuber LeLe Pons, 27.

Rihanna and ASAP Rocky Wore Winter's Biggest Basics Trend Together in Aspen

    [ad_1]

As is often the case when you’re a celebrity, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky are in Aspen for the holidays, and for a recent shopping excursion, they coordinated their casual (well, their version of casual) winter outfits perfectly.

It may seem a bit counterintuitive for there to be basics trends, but there are plenty of them each season (think, crewneck cardigans, white tank tops, and leggings, to name a few present and past ones). This season, the basics trend that everyone is buzzing about is hoodies. Hoodies are never not in style, but after gracing the F/W 23 runways of Bottega Veneta, Proenza Schouler, and Max Mara, hoodies went from being “boring” to “fashion”. And speaking of Bottega Veneta, that’s the brand of the grey pullover hoodie that both Rihanna and ASAP Rocky just wore in Aspen. It’s cashmere and nearly $4k, but that’s the very rare exception when it comes to hoodies—not the norm.

With that, keep scrolling to shop some of the coolest hoodies of the season in case you want to do as Rihanna and ASAP do.

  • Spotify (& Timothee) Invite You To Gag City

Spotify (& Timothee) Invite You To Gag City

    [ad_1]

On Friday, December 8, Nicki Minaj went back to her roots by releasing the second installment of her no-skips debut album,
Pink Friday, with Pink Friday 2. The 2010 debut included radio hits like “Super Bass”, “Fly (feat. Rihanna)”, and “Moment 4 Life”, and went triple Platinum. So you could imagine the hype behind The Queen of Hip-Hop’s fifth studio album was surging to an all-time high…

    Enter Gag City.

A few days before the album dropped, Minaj invited her army of Barbz to a pink utopia: Gag City. Named after the slang term, which we now use to indicate a loss for words, Gag City was every Barbie lover’s dream…that became an instantaneous meme.

X (or Twitter, whichever you prefer) took their own creative liberties alongside the help of AI to put virtually anything you could think of in Gag City. Most of the Gag City attendees are fan-approved queens who are worthy of Nicki Minaj’s approval, so obviously that includes the Starbucks Lemon Loaf. Unfortunately, others decided that Cardi B was denied entry to Gag City due to their 2018 New York Fashion Week brawl.

But there’s one ultimate Barb who was awarded the Golden Ticket to Gag City…and that’s none other than “Roman’s Revenge” cover rapper, Timothee Chalamet! Spotify made our new
Wonka star the cover of their Teen Beats playlist as he enters Gag City, which is just about the highest compliment.

Spotify, who had their own mega-viral moment with the introduction of Sound Towns during the release of 2023 Wrapped last week, also announced on X that they were including Gag City as a new destination. The streaming platform is seemingly teasing a visit from Nicki Minaj herself, making their headquarters on X “#GagCity” and interacting with the Queen Barb.

Pink Friday 2 is already a hit album, but we already knew it would be. Minaj hit every mark, including star collaborations like J. Cole, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, and Future, and she has even promised to release a new track everyday. The gift that keeps on giving, Gag City and Pink Friday 2 will always be famous.

  • Rihanna’s take on the ballet flats trend is very punk rock

Rihanna’s take on the ballet flats trend is very punk rock

    [ad_1]

Rihanna really is just like us. Over the weekend, the Fenty founder was spotted going out to dinner with A$AP Rocky and their one-year-old son, RZA, at the Four Seasons in New York City. She was initially photographed arriving at the hotel restaurant in an (almost) all-black ensemble: skintight jumpsuit, pointed stiletto heels, zip-up hoodie, and small shoulder bag with silver hardware that paired perfectly with her chunky silver choker. She finished the look with a swipe of red lipstick and an oversized navy blue rain coat, likely worn by necessity to shield her from the rain.

After dinner, however, Rihanna did what all city-living It-girls sometimes must, and changed into Alaïa rhinestone-studded lambskin ballet flats for the soggy walk back to her car. She was even spotted wearing the same pair of rubber-soled slippers a few days prior when she and A$AP were photographed carrying their sons out of an apartment building after enjoying their Thanksgiving dinner. Dark balletcore and punk rock ballerina vibes seem to be a growing red carpet trend too. Just look at the Black Swan–worthy Schiaparelli minidress Natalie Portman wore to the premiere of her new thriller May-December.

Carrying a spare set of ballet flats around with you is an age-old hack for women on the go, and it’s thrilling to see a celebrity — a fashion darling, no less — unabashedly put her subway flats to good use. Stars, they’re just like us! And, clearly, the indie sleaze ballet flat renaissance is still going strong.

That’s not the only trend Rihanna seems to be embracing. In recent months, she’s been gradually lightening her hair from bronde to honey blonde, also known as cosy blonde. Selena Gomez just debuted highlights in a similar butterscotch shade. Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian revealed her freshly bleached mane at the 2023 GQ Men of the Year Awards, as did Keke Palmer when she hosted the BET Soul Train Awards.

  • She’s The Man!

    She’s The Man!

    [ad_1]

They’d say I hustled, put in the work

They wouldn’t shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve

What I was wearing, if I was rude

Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves

    Taylor Swift, “The Man”

    When
Barbie premiered in July, women felt seen in the cinema — perhaps for the first time in a long time. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was more than a beginner’s feminist manifesto, but also a meditation on what it means to be both a woman and mother in today’s world. It was a gentle reminder that maybe we’re all just trying our best — and that our best is enough.

It also encouraged women celebrate each other more.
The Barbie effect had us all wearing pink, emulating Margot Robbie’s cowboy-chic style, and referring to men as our “Kens.” And with help from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, her friendship bracelets, and sense of community, women were winning. It’s the first year in history that women dominated the Billboard Hot 100 twice (thanks to Swift and her Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album). Like I said, it’s a good year to be a woman.

This celebration of women and our successes is long overdue, but the promising news is that it isn’t slowing down.
Barbie’s feminist wave has shifted how we are accepting ourselves (and others) as women.

So it’s no surprise that women are raking in awards this year too, dominating the Grammy nominations and more. We hail celebrities for all sorts of achievements: Patrick Dempsey is
People’s Sexiest Man Alive (deserved), Taylor Swift is the world leader (they literally projected her welcome onto Christ the Redeemer), and Austin Butler is Best Elvis (because somehow we have multiple).

And one of the buzziest celeb awards is run by
GQ (short for Gentlemen’s Quarterly), whose “Men Of The Year” award is a highlight of every fall/winter. Similar to TIME’s 100 list, GQ likes to celebrate those who have taken the world by storm annually.

This year, the recipient of the Man of the Year award is none other than
    Kim Kardashian…and they’re not wrong.

Kim has been taking her empire to new heights in 2023: building on the 2022 launch of her
SKKN-care line, breaking ground with Skims’ Men’s campaign, the Nipple Bra, and becoming the official partner of the NBA/WNBA, working on prison reform, filming The Kardashians on Hulu, starring alongside Emma Roberts in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story as Siobhan Corbyn, I could go on.

Calling someone “the man” has now become synonymous with “a winner.” Saying “you’re the man” is a sign of their success. And though this might have problematic roots, women are reclaiming the term — like the Taylor Swift song.
And in the grand scheme of things: Kim Kardashian is the man.

Some hard working men get the title alongside Kim in the
GQ issue. The other MOTY honorees include Jacob Elordi (AKA Elvis #2, who’s starring in blockbusters like Sofia Coppolla’s Priscilla and Saltburn alongside Barry Keoghan), Buffalo Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin, designer-turned-filmmaker Tom Ford, and Travis Scott. But you have to admit that Kim hasn’t come up for air this year.

It’s right there for us to see in episodes of
The Kardashians: Kim flying from country to country for another event on her booked and busy schedule. She’s literally everywhere at once, officiating recently divorced Chris Appleton and Lukas Gage’s wedding, shooting countless magazine covers and promo shoots for her growing enterprise, opening a Skims popup here, and shooting an episode of AHS there.

Is there anything she can’t do?

Meet The Previous Recipients Of GQ’s Men of the Year

Kim Kardashian is one of the few women to grace the cover of
GQ’s Man of the Year edition. Technically dubbed “Tycoon of the Year”, acknowledging her business successes over the past few years (and for the gender neutrality of it all)- Kardashian joins a host of some of the most famous men in the world. Let’s take a look at the past five years:

    2022: Brendan Fraser, Andrew Garfield

2021: Lil Nas X, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tom Holland

2020: Megan Thee Stallion, George Clooney, Trevor Noah

2019: Jennifer Lopez, Tyler, The Creator, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino

2018: Michael B. Jordan, Henry Golding, Jonah Hill

Women are normally recognized during the Men of the Year ceremonies, as it is a celebration of all people who emulated pop culture that year…however, no year has celebrated women quite like 2023.

The Men of the Year Awards 2023 were held on November 15 at London’s Royal Opera House where cover stars like Jeremy Allen White, boygenius, and Kardashian were in attendance.

Other female recipients included Megan Thee Stallion and Rihanna, who have paved their own paths in both the music and fashion industry. Rihanna with her Savage x Fenty inclusive lingerie line and Fenty Beauty has been changing the makeup and underwear game for a while now. Megan Thee Stallion is coming off a high-profile trial that she won against Tory Lanez, under immense public scrutiny, has become a figure for mental health and domestic violence while still creating hit records.

It’s one of the most female-dominated
GQ events we’ve seen, which is a pattern. The GRAMMY Award nominations just rolled out with so many female artists nominated, you’d think it’s a record. In the top three categories, female acts make up seven out of eight nominees.

This year, women are the man. It’s an exciting, uplifting time where we get to celebrate with each other instead of tearing one another down. Kim K is just another example of the
    Barbie effect.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix Was Basically a Runway Show—11 Looks That Prove It

    [ad_1]

One scroll through Instagram this weekend—whether you’re a fan of Formula One like I am or have only ever seen an icon for its docuseries Drive to Survive pop up on Netflix (likely after you wrapped up Beckham)—and you no doubt caught a glimpse of the happenings around the Las Vegas Grand Prix. That’s because in addition to the sport growing at a record pace in the U.S. thanks to the series, countless fashion collabsF1 content creators, and more, celebrities and influencers were a dime a dozen during the three-day race weekend, at pop ups, parties, and of course, the track, which took over the Las Vegas strip, spanning from Treasure Island to Planet Hollywood, past the Mirage, Bellagio, and Cosmopolitan casinos. Even Monaco, one of the oldest and most prestigious F1 venues, doesn’t bring in the calibre of names that Las Vegas did this weekend.

Mercedes AMG Petronas driver and seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton led the charge as he so often does, rocking up to the paddock for media day wearing an all-black Valentino look from the French house’s S/S 24 menswear collection, with a pearl choker from the brand as well as Versace boots. (If you’re a fan of Hamilton’s style, follow @hamazinglew on Instagram to be the first to know when a new look drops.) The following day, he wore another runway look, this time from Pharrell’s S/S 24 collection for Louis Vuitton with IWC’s Pilot’s Perpetual Calendar Top Gun Lake Tahoe watch and Bottega Veneta’s drop aviators (that Kendall Jenner was just seen wearing as well). Lewis Hamilton Fashion Week as some online have penned the weekend continued with custom Bottega Veneta, custom Burberry by Daniel Lee, andcustom Las Vegas-inspired bomber jacket by Donatella Versace herself. “A true Versace man: Bold, fearless and with amazing style,” Versace captioned a photo of the jacket on Instagram. “I looooove that jacket on you, Lewis Hamilton. Always on your team!”

    [ad_1]

Rihanna hasn’t risen to billionaire status and become the world’s richest female musician for no reason, and the Fenty founder is Rih-portedly heading back pon de road.

Source: Aurelien Meunier/Getty Images For Fenty / Getty

U.K.’s Mirror reports that the mom of two and her team are busy at work as they prepare and plan for a huge comeback tour for the 2024/2025 calendar year after striking a deal worth £32million in partnership with Live Nation.

Not only that but according to an insider, Queen RiRi already has two albums sitting in the vault ready to be released.

    The source told The Mirror;

“Rihanna is quietly planning a comeback tour after signing with Live Nation. The deal was created to facilitate a world tour and her creative team is quietly at work in Los Angeles putting it all together as she raises her family. She’ll press play on the live show once she’s ready to go back to work and has two albums’ worth of material to release once she’s back.”

This is extremely exciting news for Rihanna’s Navy, as her last album was released seven years ago in 2016!

Sis might not have been putting out music but she has been busy working on business ventures, producing multi-million dollar companies, and growing her loving family. She and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky are parents to baby boy RZA and welcomed their second son, Riot Rose, in August of this year.

The last time Rihanna hit the stage was during her February Super Bowl halftime show where she revealed that she was expecting baby no. 2.

We have high hopes for the once-in-a-lifetime tour because we know that anything Rihanna touches is gold. The proof is in the pudding as it was revealed that remakes of  Rihanna’s $2,900 Super Bowl jumpsuit were released by Loewe and sold out within 24 hours.

“The cargo jumpsuit and trousers feature a range of utility details drawing upon flight gear and the halftime show’s dynamic scenography,” the company said in its social media post.

PEOPLE reports that some of its features include removable D-ring straps at the knees, an elasticated belt and zipped jet pockets at the front. The jumpsuit is described as having a “relaxed fit” with straight-legged pants and is of “regular length.”

Rihanna is an icon, trendsetter, boss babe, super mom and so much more. If you’re ready to see Rih, you better save up your coins because Rihanna could be RIH-turning soon!

  • Charli XCX Creates Her Own Version of CSS’ “City Grrrl” With “In The City”

Charli XCX Creates Her Own Version of CSS’ “City Grrrl” With “In The City”

    [ad_1]

In 2011, CSS released their third album, La Liberación. Still finding it difficult to recreate the “virality” of 2005’s “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex,” CSS didn’t make it easier for themselves to do it again with this record. After all, they chose to release just one official single from: “Hits Me Like A Rock” featuring Bobby Gillespie. And yet, after the video—filled with what would now be called “TikTok dancing”—came out, CSS released another visual accompaniment for a song from La Liberación called “City Grrrl” featuring SSION. In the same way that Charli XCX’s new single, “In The City,” pays homage to how a sprawling metropolis lends the kind of anonymity necessary to feel totally free, CSS’ “City Grrrl” took it one step further by speaking to how a city (specifically, a city like New York), after enough time spent there, can make you so numb that “nothing hurts.”

Many see this as an advantage, while others posit that the idea of eventually losing all sense of humanity as a result of living in a city (again, mainly New York) simply isn’t worth it. However, for the oppressed and repressed collection of misfits that tends to (or once tended to) gravitate toward those “bright lights,” pain has been the norm in some way for their entire lives, so feeling nothing sounds pretty good in contrast. The thing is, New York is so chock full of normies now thanks to how much money it takes to live there. It’s hardly a place where “being different” is easier to conceal anymore. Not among the Rag & Bone-wearing ilk. Or even the Uniqlo types. For homogeneity has become so unavoidable in society that it’s seeped into the city landscape. A milieu that people were (and still are) so convinced stood out as a bastion of uniqueness. Though, from the get-go, cities were designed to have their own “inverse” homogeneity to the suburban alternatives that are often mocked and ridiculed by city dwellers who presume their lifestyle is inherently better. Particularly those, like Charli XCX, who grew up in such environments, frequenting the clubs and raves of London and its outer reaches as she made a name for herself (beyond just making the user name of Charli XCX on MSN Messenger).

In the early days of her recording career, Charli’s lyrics and tone possessed echoes of fellow Brits Lily Allen and Kate Nash, particularly on a song titled “Art Bitch” (side note: CSS also has a song called the same on their debut album). A nod to the sort of girl who would inevitably flee to the city to turn her art into financial gold (because that’s what art is all about now, right?). So it is that Charli sings, “You use a needle and a thread to sew up your dreams/Of going to France or New York or wherever it is/You’re gonna get there one day.” This is the same archetype CSS’ lead singer, Lovefoxxx, embodies in the video for “City Grrrl.” In fact, the premise for it comes off like a combination of Madonna blowing into New York for the first time meets her eponymous character in Desperately Seeking Susan riding back into town from Atlantic City. Lovefoxxx starts the video in a similar fashion, opening on a Coach USA bus with the destination “NEW YORK” emblazoned on the sign above the windshield. From there, Lovefoxxx pulls another Susan maneuver by proceeding to conduct her hygiene affairs in the public bathroom of the bus station, dyeing her hair pink with Manic Panic and changing her ensemble to reflect her inner “punk rock” edge on the outside. Now that she feels liberated enough in the city to do so.

The idea that you can be whoever you want to be, finally see yourself as you always dreamed you could be, is also the crux of Charli’s “In The City.” Which additionally offers a requisite gay feature (like “City Grrl” with SSION) via Sam Smith. Because what would any song showing love for the big city be without mentioning or alluding to the gays that populate it? In “City Grrrl,” Lovefoxxx calls it out directly by singing, “When I was a little girl/I wanted to be a citizen of the world/Being busy with my job and my gay friends/Laughing and drinking with my one-night stands.” For Charli, having Smith on the song to lend his vocals to a verse about meeting an accepting lover seems to be sufficient, with Smith declaring, “I knew the night that I met you/Underneath the New York City lights/Baby, no matter what I do/There’s an angel standin’ by my side.” Though one is surely likelier to find a devil at their side “in the city” instead. Especially during the less sanitized times of 2011, when “City Grrrl” came out.

In fact, it doesn’t feel like a coincidence that Charli’s city ode has a sound very similar to another 2011 track: Rihanna’s “We Found Love.” It’s got that same EDM infusion—one that also harkens back to Charli’s earlier musical sound before it veered more sharply into pop. This is thanks to co-production by Charli herself, A. G. Cook, George Daniel (a.k.a. the drummer for The 1975 and Charli’s boyfriend), ILYA and Omer Fedi. And, just as “We Found Love” was described, “In The City” is also “the rare song that manages to be sad and joyous all at once.” To that end, “In The City” transports the listener back to the early 2010s of Rihanna’s pre-Fenty heyday. Charli even invokes use of the word “diamonds” by saying, “All the lights are diamonds in the sky,” as though to deliberately remind us of Rihanna belting out, “We’re like diamonds in the sky.” And why not conjure up this not-so-distant period by mimicking its distinct sonic trends? After all, it was a simpler time not just in the twenty-first century, but in New York as well. Arguably the last blip in its history before every corner was taken over by a corporate entity.

With “In The City,” Charli appears to be part of the massive cabal that keeps perpetuating the myth that this is how New York still is. Even if its generic title can also be applied to other megalopolises like London, Istanbul, Tokyo and Los Angeles. But, of course, with Smith directly name-checking New York, it’s clear that’s the town they want people to associate the song with. Regardless of it no longer being the place where one can assure, “I found what I was lookin’ for.” Unless what you’re looking for happens to be a ramped-up obsession with money, status and a whole slew of other things that have nothing to do with being the kind of “art bitch” Charli once talked about or that Lovefoxxx once portrayed as a “City Grrrl” of yore. Where saying, “Don’t live your life, girl/Unless it’s just like a movie” has now become, “Live your life like any little banality set against a basic urban backdrop could go viral on TikTok.”

  • Rihanna’s Massive Clutch Is Here to Tell You: Tiny Purses Are Out

Rihanna’s Massive Clutch Is Here to Tell You: Tiny Purses Are Out

    [ad_1]

Rihanna has spoken: tiny purses are out. [Insert dramatic gavel slam here.] On Oct. 9, the Fenty Beauty founder was spotted grabbing dinner in New York City carrying an enormous red clutch that could practically double as a duffle. The woven Bottega Veneta bag was impossible to miss as the mom of two made the sidewalk her runway in a gray Dries Van Noten coat, black Balenciaga “pantaboots,” Gucci sunglasses, and a diamond necklace.

With no top handle to grab or slip over the shoulder, Rihanna wedged the oversize pouch under one arm, leaving us to wonder what on earth was hiding within. Did she stash a week’s worth of takeout from the restaurant she dined at? (That’s our kinda meal prep, if so.) Perhaps the singer went on a pre-dinner shopping spree to score some new ‘fits for her two-month-old son Riot, or maybe she packed a hoodie to avoid stains on her fancy wool coat. With a bag of that size, all three options are plausible.

Hypothetical contents aside, Rihanna’s larger-than-life clutch eschews the micro handbags that’ve saturated the accessories scene for the past few years. Roomy totes are making a steady comeback, popping up on the spring 2023 runways for labels like Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler, and Altuzarra. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are clearly on board with the return of carryalls; this past week alone, the latter lugged around two different brightly colored Bottega Veneta totes while celebrating his birthday in NYC. What Rihanna and A$AP Rocky say, goes — we don’t make the rules.

It’s Confirmed: These 10 Bags Are Having a Moment Among the Celeb Set

    [ad_1]

Unlike other luxury houses that start with haute couture or ready-to-wear lines and then expand to accessories, Bottega Veneta, from the jump, was in their bag (literally). Though the Italian fashion house was founded in 1966 by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro, it has remained a symbol of understated luxury worldwide because of its emphasis on craftsmanship. For the atelier, it’s not just a publicity stunt to champion artisan techniques; it’s a part of their history. Case in point: their signature woven leather technique, intrecciato. The braiding technique put the brand’s bags on the map, but the long legacy of this luxury house isn’t the only reason it’s stayed on it. In recent years, we’ve seen the brand’s rich archives reimagined through various creative directors, including the recently appointed Matthieu Blazy.

Since his debut collection in F/W 22, Blazy has managed to weave together the legacy of this house into the modern world through his contemporary take on the intrecciato weave—we’ve seen it applied to knee-high wader boots, tailored pencil skirts, and, of course, handbags. While there have been numerous items by Blazy that have blown up, none have done so quite like the Andiamo Bag. Debuted on the S/S 23 runway, this bag is characterized by its timeless top handle shape with a sliding cross-body strap, metal knot hardware, and supple leather that comes in 10 colors. Additionally, the bag comes in three sizes, making it one of the most pragmatic purses to purchase on the market—at least in the eyes of the celeb set. In the past few months alone, this bag has already been spotted on the Michelle Yeoh, Jacob Elordi, and Hailey Baldwin Bieber; it likely won’t stop there. With so many people (even stars) craving pieces that embody the “quiet luxury” aesthetic, this bag will only get buzzier.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky share 1st photos of newborn son Riot Rose – National | Globalnews.ca

    [ad_1]

Some photos are sure to cause a riot, and these are no exception.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are showing off their growing family, giving the world its first glimpse of their newborn son, Riot Rose Mayers, in a series of family photos.

In the pictures, shot by celeb photographer Miles Diggs, the musical power couple can be seen snuggling up with wee Riot and his older brother, RZA .

“It’s a FAMILY thing 💪🏽 Welcome to the World Riot Rose,” Diggs posted to his Instagram page, with an adorable shot of RZA grasping his smiling mom’s leg, while a proud dad holds up his pink-clad second-born to the camera.

    Story continues below advertisement

Baby Riot came into the world just six weeks ago, when Rihanna, 35, gave birth to him on Aug. 1.

And Riot’s introduction to the world could not be more different than his brother’s.

While the first hints of RZA’s existence became known in January 2022 when the couple released some images of Rihanna’s bare, bejewelled baby bump — photos that were also snapped by Diggs — Riot had a much more high-profile announcement earlier this year, when his mom surprised everyone by showing off her growing belly while performing during the Super Bowl halftime show.

And the couple were much quicker to announce Riot’s name — we learned his name just a month after the birth, while the world waited almost a year to learn RZA’s name.

Speaking to British Vogue in March, Rihanna opened up about becoming a mom, saying “everything changes when you have a baby” and calling it “legendary.”

Additional photos of the fashionable young family were also shared by Vanity Fair, in which the parents can be seen interacting with their newborn on a bed, as well as pictures where RZA sports a tiny leather jacket and a pair of his mom’s newly-released FENTY X Puma Avanti sneakers.

Rihanna on her long awaited return to the stage

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have debuted the newest addition to their family in a rare photoshoot. In a photo shared by photographer Miles Diggs on Instagram, the couple poses with their newborn son, Riot Rose, and firstborn RZA.

Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, famously debuted her second pregnancy during her Super Bowl performance earlier this year. She and rapper A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, welcomed their first baby boy in May 2022.

The couple has kept many details about their family life private, sharing only a few shots of their kids online. The new images shared by Diggs on Instagram and Shutterstock are the first public photos of Riot Rose. “The Mayers Boyz,” Rihanna, 35, commented on the Instagram post.

The famous parents may have been hinting at their new baby name during the Met Gala in May, according to Entertainment Tonight. Rihanna wore a white Valentino gown with roses and Rocky wore a red kilt similar to one he wore in the music video for the song RIOT.”

Ahead of the debut, a source told Entertainment Tonight photos were coming, and explained the meaning behind the middle name Rose. “Not everyone knows this, but Rocky loves flowers — he loves having fresh flowers in the house, he loves decorating with flowers, and he even had real flowers in his grill once,” the source said, adding that roses are also Rihanna’s favorite flowers.

Rocky, 34, posted an image of Rihanna and RZA on Instagram in May. “HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA,” he wrote.

In February, the the parents and RZA appeared on the cover of British Vogue and Rihanna shared images from that photoshoot on Instagram.

  • Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Chose Another R-Name for Second Baby

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Chose Another R-Name for Second Baby

    [ad_1]

Second kids are a blast. Those first-time-parent jitters are a thing of the past, and you can think about relaxing a little. There’s less hand-wringing over when to introduce a pacifier, less obsessive logging of length, quality, and general vibe of naps and diaper changes in a specialized, pastel-colored baby app. You might even, maybe, as a second-time parent, allow the world to know your child’s name before they’re 11 months old.

Meet Riot Rose Mayers, second son of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Per a birth certificate obtained by The Blast, the infant was born bright and early at 7:41 a.m. on August 1, 2023, at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

We’re getting details about the newborn far earlier than the couple’s first child: Big brother RZA Athelson Mayers’ name was only revealed in May, just two days shy of his first birthday.

But then of course, baby Riot (whose name follows the family’s R trend, and may or may not be a nod to dad Rocky’s recent track “Riot”) made a splashy pre-birth public debut as well, when Rihanna revealed her baby bump while performing at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Given this accelerated timeline of reveals, Rihanna will drop the sequel to her “rub on ya titties” maternity shoot any day now.

In recent years, what once was a “camp” exaggeration of Western style has now become a wardrobe staple that even celebrities can’t ignore: Cowboy boots slowly but surely took over the fashion world slowly, and then all at once. It first came off as a kitschy trend but is now one of the most fun ways to dress up a miniskirt or make an outdated pair of pants feel very current. And stars like Rihanna and Alexa Chung would agree, as I have seen them wear these boots countless times.

Now that fall has arrived, I’m taking the initiative to fill up my closet with the greatest pieces possible. That includes my favorite boot trends and, of course, this Western style is one of them. Below, you’ll find the candidates for my shopping spree. Keep scrolling for the 33 pairs of boots I’m eyeing.

Rihanna Just Gave Birth to Baby #2—Here’s Everything We Know

    [ad_1]

After an impressive parade of pregnancy outfits beginning with her Super Bowl performance back in February, Rihanna has finally given birth to her second child. TMZ reports the new bundle of joy is a boy, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out his name. According to the outlet, Rihanna actually gave birth earlier this month, but the news has only just been revealed now.

Over the last six months, Rihanna defied expectations when it came to maternity style. For instance, she made a memorable entrance at this year’s Met Gala wearing a voluminous Valentino number festooned with 3-D flowers. She also dared to wear a sheer sequin dress with a bikini underneath—on the red carpet, no less. Scroll down to revisit my favorite Rihanna maternity looks of the year.

  • Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Welcome Second Child

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Welcome Second Child

    [ad_1]

There’s no couple doing it quite like Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, who used their powers for good and combined forces to become the ultimate power couple. After a long-lasting friendship and professional relationship, the two made it official in 2020 and have been serving looks and goals ever since. In January 2022, Rihanna debuted her first pregnancy by sporting an open-belly pink floor duster parka and baggy jeans alongside A$AP.

We’ve been bombarded by photos of the musical duo’s adorable, expressive son, RZA Athelston Mayers – named after the legendary Wu-Tang Clan member, RZA (pronounced Rizza). And while Rihanna and A$AP have been spotted on high-profile red carpets, most famously showing up late and last to The Met Gala this year…something else has been brewing, and it’s not the new album.

In January 2023, Rihanna debuted her second pregnancy during her Super Bowl Halftime Performance, which broke records on its own. It was Rihanna’s first time performing live since the
ANTI era, but all eyes were on her growing baby bump. Now, reports are stating that Rihanna has given birth to a baby girl!

Although this hasn’t yet been confirmed by a member of Rihanna’s team, the world is buzzing in anticipation for the next member of Fenty royalty. Between the fashion, the attitude, and the musical talent, Rihanna and A$AP’s children are hitting the jackpot. In fact, we even got the Fenty-Mayers family on the cover of British Vogue…but even Rihanna didn’t know she was pregnant at the time!

Fans had already been speculating that the baby was due around August 2023, but little was revealed about the pregnancy in general. We can only assume the cutest content from here on out – and fans are anxiously still awaiting that album despite that woman just giving the world a new child.

Just when you think she’s done it all, Rihanna comes with another defining moment in fashion history. Since announcing her transition into motherhood with an iconic photoshoot while wearing vintage Chanel, the 35 year-old has singlehandedly revolutionized maternity style with tons of unconventional looks during both pregnancies. Perhaps your mind goes to the black-and-purple Gucci ensemble she wore during Milan Fashion Week in 2022 that ushered in a new trend of bump-baring outfits. Or even the red Loewe utility jumpsuit she wore for her history-making Super Bowl performance. In true Rihanna fashion, the star is making an even bigger imprint in the sartorial space, this time with a maternity Savage x Fenty line.

The “Lift Me Up” singer’s capsule collection provides a fresh take on staple pieces for parents and expectant parents alike, including a black-and-white oversize graphic tee that reads “MAKE MORE BABIES,” and three new bralette styles: the Savage X Cotton, the Floral Lace, and the Savage Not Sorry. The new lingerie line is, of course, size-inclusive, ranging from XXS to 4X. It also comes in exciting colorways like black caviar, platinum grey, navy blue, and lavender.

“The new maternity capsule is about bringing that confidence and comfort to moms at every stage of their journeys,” Rihanna told Vogue. “I want to remind people that you can still channel sexiness and feel good while being a parent.” And we can certainly feel that energy in the campaign, as she’s seen wearing the cotton maternity bralette while happily breastfeeding her son RZA, who’s also repping the brand in black logo shorts.

Inspired by Savage X Fenty’s best-selling silhouette, the mom-friendly bra features clasps at the straps, full maternity sling layers for easy single-handed fastening, and adjustable straps, all ideal for nursing. Retailing at an affordable range of $35 to $60, the collection is truly for every mom.
