  • EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Richa Chadha recalls incident about a jealous co-star: ‘Their staff threw all my stuff’

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Richa Chadha recalls incident about a jealous co-star: ‘Their staff threw all my stuff’

    [ad_1]

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal have turned producers, and in a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, the actress spoke about maintaining equality on the set of their first production. “We didn’t do any discrimination that someone will stay in a good hotel, and others will stay in a bad one. I also stayed where everyone was staying, and so did Ali. So people could understand that we are not being starry. Secondly, we gave the actors tons of space – whether they were there for a day or two, or they were the leads and needed workshop space or needed silence,” shares Richa.

The Fukrey actress further adds, “Because we are actors ourselves, we could empathize. We could also understand that if we discriminate on the set, then it impacts people’s morale. Since it has happened with us in the beginning – (for instance), one will get a sharing vanity with three people, and the other one will get a single door. And it’s not about style but it’s about comfort.”

Has she ever faced this discrimination as well? “It’s happened several times. In fact, on my first film there was a time when I felt really bad. I had come straight from college to do a scene in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye, and I had 103-104 fever. I was told that someone is going to come at a later time, so till then I can use this particular vanity van, and for the whole day I would anyway be shooting. So I got ready and left, but in the meantime someone came, their staff threw all my stuff,” recalls Richa Chadha.

    Dealing with a co-star’s jealousy

She further elaborates, “I looked at how terrible it was. I didn’t have my own makeup and hair material, they belonged to the company itself. But they threw the stuff, and someone’s lipstick got damaged, someone’s mirror broke – so I felt really bad. How can they do this? I come from privilege but I am not foolish that other people will not spend money, this is their investment, it’s their daily bread and butter. You can’t do this with someone, but these things happen. Thankfully, I think now because of social media and everyone has a camera in their phones, people are aware of these things, but it does happen sadly. Unka phir hota kuch nahin hai, those who behave like this. In my experience, it’s not karma or whatever. But Punjabi people, anyway we are generous and giving, so it doesn’t sit well with me.”

Richa Chadha on Cannes: Does ‘fashion’ overshadow the film festival? Here’s what the actress had to say

    [ad_1]

Cannes Film Festival is one of the most prestigious and celebrated film festivals in the world which brings together filmmakers, actors, producers, distributors, and critics from all over the world. In the world of cinema, this annual festival is one of the biggest events in the world. It combines glitzy glamorous red carpet appearances, screening of films, networking, and award ceremonies. A lot of Bollywood celebs are making news as they are making stunning appearances at the festival. Their outfits have become the talk of the town which led many to state that Cannes has become synonymous with fashion, rather than films.

Richa Chadha on Cannes Film Festival

Richa Chadha has always been vocal about issues surrounding films or social problems. So, when everyone is debating if the film festivals are focusing more on the fashion game of the celebs, Richa became one of the first to voice her opinion. Taking to social media, the actress shared, “There’s a lot of chatter on social media about Cannes, Fashion, film etc. Just wanna say, don’t shit on anyone please. People are excited to be here, I notice the ones that are thanking brands/designers/ alcohol labels that are bringing their influencers here. It’s a gear venue for marketing no? Let them be. You will notice most people say they’re at the red carpet but won’t specify the film. Well, they’re not here with a film or for a film. Having said that, should you be so lucky to get to work on a film that ends up at Cannes… it’s the best feeling in the world. It’s after all a FILM FESTIVAL, no matter what anyone says. And as an artist, there’s no greater joy and contentment than a 7 min long standing ovation.”

Take a look at Richa’s post here:

‘Hurts to see this’: Akshay Kumar on Richa Chadha’s ‘Galwan says hi’ tweet

    [ad_1]

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Thursday expressed his disappointment after actor Richa Chadha mocked the Indian Army by referring to Galwan where 20 soldiers were killed in a violent clash during a border stand-off with the Chinese PLA in 2020.

Chadha’s controversial tweet came after a Twitter user shared a quote from a top army general who said the Indian Army was fully prepared to take back PoK (Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir).

Reacting to this, Richa Chadha in a tweet said: “Galwan says hi.” Her statement did not go down well with many celebrities who made their disappointment known.

Akshay Kumar said that he was hurt to see the tweet and that nothing ever should make the people ungrateful towards the country’s armed forces.

“Hurts to see this. Nothing ever should make us ungrateful towards our armed forces. Woh hain toh aaj hum hain,” he said.

Well-known lyricist, poet, and screenwriter Manoj Muntashir also slammed the actor for her comment and said he was ashamed to be part of the industry where ‘such abominable thinking takes shelter.

“Once used to proudly say that I work in the Hindi film industry, today I feel ashamed that I am a part of that industry where such abominable thinking takes shelter. Dear Bollywood, if you can’t boycott such traitors, then don’t complain again about your being boycotted,” he said.

After facing backlash, Chadha apologised and said that it would sadden her if even unintentionally her “words have triggered this feeling (hurt) in my brothers in the Fauj”.

On Tuesday, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi while responding to a question said: “As far as the Indian Army is concerned, it’ll carry out any order given by the Government of India. Whenever such orders are given, we will always be ready for it.”
