  • Fired CDC Chief Susan Monarez Warns Senators That RFK Jr. Is Endangering Public Health – KXL

    [ad_1]

WASHINGTON (AP) — Fired Centers for Disease Control and Prevention chief Susan Monarez is warning senators America’s public health system is headed to a “dangerous place” under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his anti-vaccine advisers.

Monarez and ex-CDC official Debra Houry describe exchanges in which Kennedy or political advisers rebuffed data supporting vaccine safety and efficacy.

Monarez told the  Senate health committee Wednesday deadly diseases including polio are poised to make a comeback in the U.S. Monarez says Kennedy demanded she “preapprove” recommendations from a CDC panel or face termination.

The panel is expected to vote on new vaccine guidelines this week in Atlanta.

Kennedy denies Monarez’s accusations he ordered “rubber-stamped” vaccine recommendations.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will face serious concerns from senators on Thursday regarding his handling of public health matters, following his decision to force out the recently sworn-in CDC Director Susan Monarez and replace her with Jim O’Neill, who has a background in business. On Wednesday, more than 1,000 current and former Health and Human Services employees who worked with Kennedy called for his resignation in a letter, accusing him of prioritizing politics over science. Kennedy has been reshaping the nation’s vaccine policies and has voiced skepticism about the safety and effectiveness of long-established shots. He’ll be answering questions on Thursday before the Senate Finance Committee. “The CDC was once the world’s most trusted guardian of public health,” Kennedy said in a video message posted ahead of the hearing. “Its mission was simple and noble, protect Americans from infectious disease, but over the years, the agency drifted. Bureaucracy politicized science and mission creed corroded that mission and squandered the public trust.”Republican Sen. • The CDC’s Nightmare Interim Director Is a Peter Thiel Pal

    [ad_1]

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is in chaotic disarray, as a slew of resignations and an unprecedented walkout of staff have roiled the agency. At the center of the controversy is the CDC’s weirdo director, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose most recent contribution to public health dialogue was a bizarre rant about what passes through his mind as he stares at children. No wonder longtime agency staffers are losing their minds.

Now, in a development that is sure to help (*sarcasm*), Jim O’Neill, Kennedy’s deputy secretary, has been selected to take over at the agency. People are freaking out about O’Neill’s nomination because, well, he’s a freak—or, at the very least, he is anomalous in regards to his espoused beliefs and career experience and how little they seem to match his new job. But, as Stat reports, the sure-fire tell that this man waves a freak flag is his deep connections to PayPal co-founder and all-around weirdo Peter Thiel.

One of the first things you notice when you check out O’Neill’s LinkedIn is just how much time he’s spent working for organizations that were created by rightwing billionaire Peter Thiel. Between 2008 and 2012, O’Neill served as the managing director of Clarium Capital Management, one of Thiel’s first hedge funds. After that, O’Neill spent nearly a decade as the managing director of Mithril Capital Management, one of Thiel’s venture capital firms, which has been responsible for funding companies like Thiel’s defense contractor, Palantir (which is also doing a lot of work for the Trump administration right now).

O’Neill was also previously a board member of Thiel’s Seasteading Institute, an organization that is devoted to the creation of autonomous floating cities that are governed by private entities rather than traditional (i.e., democratic) governments. A picture on the group’s website from 2014 shows O’Neill hanging out with dead-eyed libertarian operative Grover Norquist at Burning Man. The Seasteading Institute is run by Milton Friedman’s grandson, Patri Friedman, who is also a point person for the “Network State” movement, which Thiel is also all wrapped up in.

Frankly, O’Neill’s dense ties to Thiel are one of the less worrying things about him. Much more concerning is the wealth of information about him online that would give any sane person pause when considering whether to let him run a public health agency. For one thing, there’s an old YouTube video of him talking about how we should open up organ donation to the “free market” (there’s nothing wrong with incentivizing people to but and sell organs, right?), and he’s also a fan of Silicon Valley’s trendy new life-extension sciences (he has shared kind words about the penis-shocking, teen-blood-transfusing health guru Bryan Johnson). During the pandemic, he is said to have advocated for the use of alternative medications, like hydroxychloroquine and Joe Rogan’s favorite, ivermectin. The Seasteading Institute is run by Milton Friedman’s grandson, Patri Friedman, who is also a point person for the “Network State” movement. O’Neill also reportedly advocated for dispensing with the FDA’s mandate that drugs be deemed “effective” before they’re sold to the public. In 2014, he told a biotech group: “Let people start using them [the drugs], at their own risk.” And, of course, he wants healthcare to be a “free market” enterprise.

In short, he sounds like a complete and total nightmare and, also, the exact kind of person that RFK would want to run the CDC.

Unlike his boss, O’Neill is not a complete stranger to government, although this should offer little comfort. During the George W. Bush administration, he served in several roles at the HHS, even rising as high as principal associate deputy secretary. In that role, between 2007 and 2008, he is said to have focused his attention on food safety regulations. Then, during Trump’s first term in office, O’Neill was mulled as a potential choice to head the Food and Drug Administration. When it originally broke that Trump was considering O’Neill for this post back in 2016, Gizmodo wrote an article entitled: “Trump is Considering an Insane Silicon Valley Libertarian to Head the FDA.” At the time, much controversy was stirred up by the mere suggestion that O’Neill take the FDA role, and eventually, Trump dropped the idea. Now, unfortunately, O’Neill is going to be running an agency nearly twice as large and significantly more important, at least for the time being. Gizmodo reached out to the government for more information.

  • Can RFK Jr. ban COVID-19 vaccines?

    [ad_1]

A single-source news report that said Trump administration officials plan to take COVID-19 vaccines off the market prompted fresh questions about Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s power over vaccines.

The Daily Beast reported Aug. 25 that “a decision to remove the (COVID-19) vaccine from the U.S. market pending further research will come ‘within months,’” citing British cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra. Malhotra is chief medical adviser at Make America Healthy Again Action — an advocacy group run by longtime Kennedy allies. In July, the group launched an advertising campaign supporting Kennedy and President Donald Trump’s MAHA goals.

Malhotra is not listed among Trump administration officials. But some of his anti-COVID-19 vaccine statements align with past statements by administration officials, including Kennedy.

Kennedy has long opposed vaccines and once called the COVID-19 vaccine “the deadliest vaccine ever made,” contradicting scientific evidence. Kennedy said in November 2024 that he didn’t plan to ban vaccines: “If vaccines are working for somebody, I’m not going to take them away.”

But if he changed his mind, could Kennedy ban COVID-19 vaccines?

    Sign up for PolitiFact texts

Not unilaterally, vaccine law experts say. Although there are ways the administration can make COVID-19 vaccines harder for Americans to get, there’s a process for taking approved vaccines off the market, and attempts to take vaccines off the market could face legal challenges.

“The Administration is relying on gold standard science and is committed to radical transparency to make decisions that affect all Americans,” White House spokesman Kush Desai told PolitiFact when asked about The Daily Beast’s report that the administration was considering a COVID-19 vaccine ban. “Unless announced by the Administration, however, any discussion about HHS policy should be dismissed as baseless speculation.”

An HHS spokesperson said the agency doesn’t comment on potential policy decisions.

Can HHS remove approved vaccines from the market?

To take an approved vaccine off the market, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration would have to revoke the manufacturers’ license for that vaccine.

The FDA has licensed and approved three COVID-19 vaccines for at least some segments of the population. Those include two mRNA vaccines — one made by Moderna and another made by Pfizer-BioNTech — and Novavax’s protein-based vaccine.

The FDA’s approval of the COVID-19 vaccines — in some cases, during Trump’s current term — could make it more difficult to completely remove them from the market.

The FDA could try to remove a vaccine if the agency had significant safety concerns or “concerns about manufacturing practices,” reported KFF, a nonprofit health policy research, polling and news organization.

For years, Kennedy has said that vaccines are inadequately tested and unsafe.

But federal regulations specify how the FDA would revoke a license, said Dorit Reiss, a vaccine law and policy expert at University of California Law San Francisco.

“You need to meet procedural requirements and show that the removal was not arbitrary and capricious,” Reiss told PolitiFact in November.

It can be done, though: The FDA recently announced it suspended a French drugmaker’s license for a live-attenuated vaccine that protects against chikungunya, a virus spread by mosquitoes.

Kenendy has also already made moves that reduce Americans’ access to the COVID-19 vaccines.

In May, Kennedy announced he’d removed COVID-19 vaccines from the recommended immunization schedule for healthy children and pregnant women — a move that could limit vaccine access by reducing insurance companies’ coverage of the shot. The FDA also announced that vaccine makers seeking approval for future COVID-19 vaccines, or boosters, would need to conduct new randomized clinical trials of healthy populations. Such moves are expected to limit COVID-19 vaccine access

Steps toward revoking an approved vaccine

Under federal rules, the FDA commissioner — not the HHS secretary — can try to revoke a vaccine license. FDA Commissioner Marty Makary is a pancreatic surgeon and a proponent of the “Make America Healthy Again” movement; he said he has a good relationship with Kennedy.

Makary could seek to revoke a vaccine’s license if, as the law outlines, he found it “fails to conform to the applicable standards” that ensure the product’s “continued safety, purity, and potency” or if he determined “the licensed product is not safe and effective” for its intended uses.

The FDA commissioner typically must notify the vaccine manufacturer of the agency’s plans to revoke the license, provide the agency’s grounds for the revocation and give the manufacturer an opportunity for a hearing. An FDA official known as an administrative adjudicator — an executive branch official — would preside over the hearing, Reiss said.

“It should be a chance to provide safety data and lay out their case,” she said. After the hearing, the FDA would decide whether to revoke the license and the company could then challenge a revocation, Reiss said.

Initiating the procedure to remove an approved vaccine “without new information and sufficient evidence of harms or other concerns” would likely trigger legal challenges, KFF said

“Most vaccines that were removed from the market were removed voluntarily, so there’s not really a lot of experience,” Reiss said. “Companies do not always sue FDA; it might not be cost-effective to do so. But they can, and I would be surprised if none of them do.”

Wendy Parmet, director of Northeastern University law school’s Center for Health Policy and Law, said that if the vaccine manufacturers contested a license revocation, she expected they would have a strong case, given the reams of vaccine safety data and post-market studies of COVID-19 vaccine use around the world.

But some companies have been unwilling to fight the Trump administration, she said.

“They’ve already lost contracts from mRNA research,” Parmet said, referring to Kennedy’s decision to cut mRNA vaccine development funding. And the companies have broad portfolios with numerous business interests that could be affected by the Trump administration’s policies more widely.

“Are they going to be afraid that they’ll be hit with retaliatory tariffs?” Parmet said. “We’ve seen companies being afraid of asserting their rights because they’re being pressured in other ways.”

If vaccine manufacturers don’t challenge the government, physicians groups or patients groups could file legal challenges, Parmet said.

“I think there’ll be litigation. I would expect a court to try to give temporary relief,” she said. “But we’ve seen the Trump administration have greater success the higher up the judicial ladder we go. So I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

  • Integrative Providers Association (IPA) and Compassion Center Call on U.S. Senate to Fast Track Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Confirmation

    [ad_1]

Integrative Providers Association, a 501(c)(6) Professional Membership Organization Speaking on Behalf of Over 14 Million Integrative Healthcare Practitioners, and the Compassion Center, Proudly Champions “Secretary Kennedy” as a Maverick in Holistic Health and Nutrition, Urging Our U.S. Senators to Expedite Confirmation In The Name of Wellness. IPA Members Support Robert F. Kennedy’s Agenda to Redirect Healthcare In The United States

The Integrative Providers Association (IPA), represents the collective voices of over 14 million integrative healthcare practitioners Nationwide, today announces its strong endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for swift confirmation by the U.S. Senate. The IPA firmly believes that those who are standing in the way of Secretary-Designate Kennedy’s appointment continue to represent the old guard who continue to push our country further and further from an existence rooted in health and wholeness. IPA feels Secretary Kennedy’s proven commitment to our holistic and preventive health care will transform our Nation’s current disease management model and place patient well-being at the forefront of our National healthcare policy- something that has been lacking for far too long.

“America is at a critical juncture in healthcare,” says Julie Monteiro, RN, BSK , Board President of the IPA. “For too long, our healthcare systems have focused on disease management rather than true prevention and integrative solutions. Secretary Kennedy has proven himself a maverick by championing nutrition-based interventions and evidence-informed holistic care. He has never shied away from standing up for his beliefs, which many of our members feel surpasses the efforts of his predecessors in recent memory. Fast-tracking his confirmation is not just a political matter; it’s a bipartisan opportunity to protect the health and future of our children and grandchildren.”

As a national organization dedicated to advancing integrative medicine, the IPA has witnessed firsthand the limitations of a purely pharmacologically driven approach. Our interprofessional membership-encompassing allopathic and naturopathic physicians, functional medicine and Ayurvedic practitioners, nurse practitioners, holistic nurses, nutritionists, and wellness coaches-works collectively to create a sustainable healthcare paradigm that emphasizes wellness optimization, addressing root causes rather than merely suppressing the symptoms.

James B. Creel, PgM , Board Secretary of the IPA, emphasizes that time is of the essence. “Our society is experiencing unprecedented rates of chronic disease and intractable conditions-from diabetes to heart disease and hypertension, the problems range from physical to mental health challenges-all of which require a proactive, integrative response. We feel Secretary Kennedy’s leadership in advocating for cleaner environments, better nutrition, and patient empowerment aligns perfectly with the IPA’s mission. We urge the Senate to act swiftly so Secretary Kennedy can begin driving meaningful reforms that put Americans back on the path to true health.”

The IPA stands united in its call for immediate Senate action, citing the urgent need to address chronic diseases with strategies that transcend traditional disease management. By confirming Secretary Kennedy, lawmakers would pave the way for a comprehensive national health policy that harnesses the power of integrative approaches, including nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and patient education.

“This is an opportunity to protect our future generations from the spiraling costs of healthcare and the personal burdens associated with chronic illness,” Monteiro adds. “Secretary Kennedy has demonstrated the vision and courage needed to spark real change. It’s time to confirm him and let him get to work making Americans healthy again.”

Putting our time and money where our heart is, Integrative Providers Associated partnered with the Compassion Center to create the www.TeachOneServeTen.org Free Clinic Day to serve underserved populations with free healthcare by converting continuing medical education into a disruptive model that simultaneously addresses uncompensated care and the opioid epidemic. This model has served thousands since its inception, and saved taxpayers millions of dollars so it is important to continue investing into, and listening to, those that are making a real difference.

(Media News) RFK’s Children’s Health Defense Prepares Supreme Court Appeal Against Meta for Alleged Censorship

    [ad_1]

Children’s Health Defense (CHD), led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., plans to ask the Supreme Court to revive a lawsuit accusing Meta Platforms of improperly suppressing its content. The group, known for its vaccine criticism, petitioned Justice Elena Kagan for an extension, pushing their filing deadline to January 6, 2025.

CHD’s lawsuit, originating in August 2020, claims Meta’s Facebook deactivated its fundraising tool and blocked its ad agency from purchasing ads. Facebook also allegedly labeled CHD’s vaccine-related posts as false, restricted, or banned content. CHD argues Meta acted as a “state actor” by collaborating with the government to suppress its speech, citing a 2019 letter from Rep. Adam Schiff urging Facebook to curb anti-vaccine misinformation.

A U.S. District Court dismissed the case in 2021, and the 9th Circuit Court upheld the decision in August 2023. Judge Eric Miller, a Trump appointee, ruled Meta has the right to control content on its platform, while Judge Daniel Collins dissented, supporting CHD’s request for an injunction against Meta.

Ethel Kennedy met Bobby Kennedy when she was just 17, as a close friend and roommate of Bobby’s sister, Jean. The couple married in 1950 and went on to have 11 children.

Her life changed forever with an assassin’s bullet in June 1968. She vowed then she would never marry again and she never did.

“She was a devout Catholic and a daily communicant, and we are comforted in knowing she is reunited with the love of her life, our father, Robert F. Kennedy; her children David and Michael; her daughter-in-law Mary; her grandchildren Maeve and Saoirse; and her great-grandchildren Gideon and Josie,” her grandson wrote. “Please keep her in your hearts and prayers.”

RFK was buried with his brother, President John F. Kennedy, at Arlington Cemetery. Ethel Kennedy visited the eternal flame there in 2013 with then-President Barack Obama, 50 years after JFK was assassinated.

Funeral arrangements for Ethel Kennedy were not immediately announced.

Mondo Appropriato #8: Another Male Kennedy Scandal Involving Philandering

    [ad_1]

In a series called Mondo Appropriato, Culled Culture examines how “on the nose” something is in the pop cultural and/or political landscape.

Where once it was easy to bill any Kennedy “tragedy” as merely part of the “Kennedy curse,” it seems that, more and more, the overshadowing word is “scandal” rather than “tragedy.” And most of it is less a “curse” than largely being the making of the (often depraved) Kennedy men. The latest to outshine some of his forebears’ former “glory” in that department is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. While, sure, one might have thought that his brand couldn’t possibly be more damaged after years of anti-vaccine rhetoric, a bid for president in 2024 that has almost been as embarrassing as Donald Trump’s and admissions to two separate incidents of “bizarre” (to say the least) behavior with dead animals (specifically, a bear cub and a whale), it turns out, they were wrong. There was so much more damaging to do in 2024.

The latest scandal in the Kennedy arsenal in general and the Robert F. Kennedy Jr. arsenal in particular is Olivia Nuzzi’s admission to having a “personal relationship” with the presidential hopeful earlier this year while on the campaign trail. And yes, the vagueness of the term “personal relationship” leaves far too much to the imagination. Described as a “star reporter” for New York Magazine, Nuzzi was suspended from the publication after “acknowledging” her close dynamic with RFK Jr. (evidently, close enough to risk her entire career on this confession), though she was certain to stress that the relationship wasn’t physical. Even so, as any woman who has ever had to deal with a boyfriend or husband’s “best friend” in a female form, there is obviously such a thing as an emotional affair (which is oftentimes even worse than a physical one). And it’s likely just as grating to Cheryl Hines as it is to any other woman.

Per a statement released by NY Mag,

“Recently our Washington Correspondent Olivia Nuzzi acknowledged to the magazine’s editors that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign while she was reporting on the campaign, a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures. Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign. An internal review of her published work has found no inaccuracies nor evidence of bias. She is currently on leave from the magazine, and the magazine is conducting a more thorough third-party review. We regret this violation of our readers’ trust.”

Alas, it’s unlikely that RFK Jr. would ever apologize for the violation of Hines’ trust. Then again, the Kennedy men are more than somewhat known for their penchants for having affairs and doing a very shitty job of being discreet about it. Leaving the door open for people to say that Hines should have “expected” it/“known better.” Especially considering his ex-wife, Mary Kathleen Richardson, killed herself after discovering a journal of RFK Jr.’s detailing how he slept with thirty-seven women in 2001 alone (which means who knows what the total number of women he had affairs with really added up to in the years before and beyond that). In other words, while RFK Jr. was usually in a non-marriage bed, Hines should have seen that she was making her own to lie in. But those who would try to fault her with “I told you so” logic, well, they clearly haven’t been subjected to “the heart wants what it wants” phenomena.

In the male Kennedys’ case, however, that saying has always been “the dick wants what it wants.” And damn the aftermath. Perhaps that’s what makes the Nuzzi “incident” one of the more unique ones for Kennedy shame in that RFK Jr. didn’t even “go all the way,” despite probably knowing somewhere deep down that there would be an inevitable fallout (so why not make it all slightly worth it with an orgasm here and there?). And, apparently, plenty of email/sext exchanges showcasing the nature of his and Nuzzi’s emotionally intimate rapport.

As for Nuzzi, it will be for her just as it has been for every woman that has suffered at the hands of a Kennedy scandal: her reputation will still end up being more tarnished than his (which is, quite simply, the patriarchy in active motion). Particularly because she’s a journalist now facing an extreme loss of credibility, even more so due to the fact that she’ll be billed as some kind of Jezebel in future dealings with male subjects. Indeed, her behavior is liable to be met with plenty of contempt from fellow journalists of the belief that the last thing the industry needed was another reason for the public to doubt it. And the last thing the Kennedy “dynasty” needed was yet another (cum) stain on it thanks to a man who couldn’t resist a flirtation that turned into something far more unseemly.

RFK Jr.’s Request to Be Removed from North Carolina Ballot Denied

A judge announced on Thursday that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s request to be removed from the ballot in North Carolina has been denied.

Wake County Superior Court Judge Rebecca Waters Holt did allow Kennedy a 24-hour stay on ballot delivery, giving his legal team time to appeal the decision to the state’s Court of Appeals.

RELATED: Hunter Biden Pleads Guilty to Tax Charges, Avoids Public Trial

Due to the decision, the North Carolina State Board of Elections ordered counties to temporarily pause ballot distributions, which were set to begin on Friday.

“Make preparations to not send out ballots tomorrow morning, unless you hear otherwise from the State Board,” said a statement from State Board of Elections general counsel Paul Cox to the counties.

Cox told the counties to “stay tuned” for more information.

“The bottom line is: make plans to not send ballots out tomorrow morning, but be ready if that situation changes and we need to send out ballots later tomorrow,” he said.

This all comes after the board narrowly voted on Aug. 29 against Kennedy’s request to be removed from the ballot.

Members of the board claimed it was “impractical” to remove him from the ballot, especially in light of the “approximately 2 million ballots statewide [that] have already been printed with Kennedy’s name on them.”

Kennedy’s lawsuit against the board following that decision was the fifth lawsuit filed against the board in 40 days, rounding up a summer of controversy.

RELATED: No, the Electoral College Is Not a Relic of Slavery

In his lawsuit, Kennedy said not removing him impeded his freedom of speech. He announced his withdrawal on Aug. 23 and the board did not vote until Aug. 29. His litigation was filed the next day.

Holt ruled that it would cause North Carolina “considerable cost and effort” to remove Kennedy from the ballot, siding with the majority of the board.

Kennedy was granted access to the ballot on July 16 affiliated with the We The People Party, after first being denied access by the board.

Kennedy decided to remove his name from the ballot following his decision to suspend his presidential campaign on Aug. 23, less than 24 hours after the Democratic National Convention wrapped. In the press conference, he blamed “shadowy DNC operatives” for fighting his campaign’s access to the ballot at every turn and announced that he would endorse former President Donald Trump.

Since then Kennedy’s name has been removed from the ballots in four of seven consensus battleground states, while he continues on the ballot in North Carolina, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Both the board and the court plan to release more details and information about the decision and its impact on Thursday afternoon.

RFK Jr. attempted to arrange meeting with Harris, sources say

    [ad_1]

Independent longshot presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. approached the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris last week to discuss the possibility of serving in her administration if she were to win the presidential race in November, two sources familiar with the situation told CBS News.

Harris and her advisers have not responded with an offer to meet or shown interest in the proposal, according to one of those sources.

“No one has any intention of negotiating with a MAGA-funded fringe candidate who has sought out a job with Donald Trump in exchange for an endorsement,” the source said.

Stefanie Spear, a spokesperson for the Kennedy campaign, told CBS News in a statement Wednesday that “Mr. Kennedy is willing to meet with leaders of both parties to discuss the possibility of a unity government.”

The Washington Post first reported the attempted meeting.

Although Kennedy continues his efforts to get on the ballot in every state and has scheduled multiple upcoming campaign events, the independent candidate told the Post in an interview Wednesday that he believes it was a “mistake” for the Harris campaign not to take the meeting.

“I think it is a strategic mistake for them. That’s my perspective,” Kennedy said. “I think they ought to be looking at every opportunity. I think it is going to be a very close race.”

The attempt to arrange a meeting with Harris follows an in-person discussion between Kennedy and former President Donald Trump in July at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Following his July 15 meeting with Trump, Kennedy wrote on social media, “Lots of rumors going around about my meeting this morning with President Trump. Our main topic was national unity, and I hope to meet with Democratic leaders about that as well. No, I am not dropping out of the race.”

Kennedy is on the ballot as an independent in a growing number of states — Alaska, Delaware, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington and West Virginia. He’s also on the ballot in California as the nominee of the American Independent Party, and in Hawaii, on his We the People ticket. Combined, those states add up to just over 200 electoral votes.

But New York is denying Kennedy access to the ballot, based on his residency claim.

RFK Jr. disqualified from New York ballot over false residence claim, judge rules

    [ad_1]

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been disqualified from appearing on New York’s general election ballot after a judge ruled Monday that he falsely claimed a New York residence on his nominating petitions, leading to their invalidation.

Judge Christina Ryba ruled that Kennedy’s claim of a New York address as his “place of residence” was a “false statement,” concluding that it was evident he had no plans to move back to the Empire State and said he only listed the location for political gain. Ryba’s ruling is expected to be appealed by the Aug. 15 deadline. If her ruling is upheld, it would bar Kennedy from the New York ballot and potentially spark challenges in other states where he used a New York suburban address to collect signatures.

“The overwhelming credible evidence introduced at trial established that Kennedy’s connections with the … 84 Croton Lake Road address existed only on paper and were maintained for the sole purpose of maintaining his voter registration and political standing in the State of New York,” Ryba wrote.

Last week in court, Kennedy testified that he has considered New York his home since childhood and intended to return. He explained that he temporarily moved to California in 2014 to live with his wife and that he is currently renting a room at a woman’s home in New York.

Barbara Moss, the woman who owns the home, testified that Kennedy paid her $500 a month for the room. She added that Kennedy had spent only one night at the 84 Croton Lake Road address and that she received the first rental payment from him on May 20 of this year.

The lawsuit against Kennedy is backed by Clear Choice Action, a Democrat-aligned super PAC that’s working to hinder third-party candidates in the presidential election.

“Today’s ruling makes clear that Mr. Kennedy lied about his residency and provided a false address on his filing papers and candidate petitions in New York, intentionally misleading election officials and betraying voters’ trust,” said Pete Kavanaugh, founder of Clear Choice Action. “The Kennedy team will undoubtedly file desperate lawsuit after desperate lawsuit in the coming days and weeks; they will fail, and it will not change the simple truth: he lied, and he’s being held accountable.”

The super PAC has also taken legal action against Kennedy in Pennsylvania and filed an objection to his candidacy in Illinois. Other Democratic Party allies are leading similar efforts in Nevada and Delaware.

“The RFK Jr. running for president is the same RFK Jr. portrayed in this story: a deeply troubled, reckless, and dangerous man. He doesn’t think the rules apply to him and he refuses to consider the consequences of his actions,” said Matt Corridoni, A DNC spokesperson. “That is why he is willing to play the role of spoiler for Donald Trump in this election and why he has floated endorsing Trump in exchange for a job in a Trump administration. RFK Jr. has always put RFK Jr. first and he has no regard for the disastrous impact his actions would have on the American people.”

Following the New York ruling, “We’ll be assessing our options in other states based off of this ruling,” Corridoni added.

The Kennedy campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

Court Sides with Meta, Dismisses RFK Jr.’s Children’s Health Defense Lawsuit Over Vaccine Post Suppression

    [ad_1]

A federal appellate panel upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Children’s Health Defense against Meta Platforms, which claimed the company violated the First Amendment by suppressing its vaccine-related posts. The panel ruled that Meta, as a private entity, has the constitutional right to exercise editorial control over its platform’s content.

Judge Eric Miller of the 9th Circuit Court, appointed by Trump, stated, “Meta has a First Amendment right to promote views it finds congenial and refrain from promoting views it finds distasteful.” This decision supports a 2021 ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston.

Children’s Health Defense argued that Meta acted as a “state actor” due to alleged government pressure, particularly citing a letter from Congressman Adam Schiff urging Facebook to tackle anti-vaccine content. However, the panel found no evidence of coercion.

Judge Daniel Collins dissented, believing the case should proceed, suggesting Meta’s government interactions could implicate the First Amendment.

  • RFK Jr. admits putting dead bear cub in New York City’s Central Park nearly 10 years ago

RFK Jr. admits putting dead bear cub in New York City’s Central Park nearly 10 years ago

    [ad_1]

The decade-old question about how a dead 6-month-old female black bear cub ended up in New York City’s iconic Central Park beneath an old bicycle has been answered. Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. on Sunday confessed that he was behind the incident after a fact-checker from The New Yorker called him to verify the story.

In a video he posted on X, Kennedy said he had come across the bear in the morning when he was going falconing; a woman in a van in front of him hit and killed the bear.

“So, I pulled over and I picked up the bear and put him in the back of my van because I was going to skin the bear, and it was in very good condition, and I was going to put the meat in my refrigerator,” Kennedy said. “And you can do that in New York state. You can get a bear tag for roadkill bear.”

But the falconing day went longer than expected, and he had to go straight to a dinner in the city at Peter Luger Steakhouse, he recounted. That, too, ran late, and Kennedy said he realized he had to go to the airport and would not be able to go home to Westchester first.

“And the bear was in my car, and I didn’t want to leave the bear in the car because that would have been bad,” he said. “So, then I thought you know at that time this was the little bit of the redneck me. There’d been a series of bicycle accidents in New York they had just put in the bike lanes and so a couple of people were getting killed and it was every day and people badly injured every day it was in the press.”

He said, “I wasn’t drinking, of course, but people were drinking with me who thought this was a good idea.”

Kennedy mentioned that in addition to the dead bear cub, he had “an old bike in my car that somebody asked me to get rid of.”

“I said let’s go put the bear in Central Park and we’ll make it look like it got hit by a bike,” Kennedy recalled. What he did not expect was the media attention the stunt would attract.

“The next day, it was like it was on every television station. It was the front page of every paper and I turned on the TV and there was like a mile of yellow tape and there were 20 cop cars, there were helicopters flying over it. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, what did I do?’ And then they were, there was some people on TV and Tyvek suits with gloves on lifting up the bike and they’re saying they’re gonna take this up to Albany to get it fingerprinted,” he said. “And I was worried because my prints were all over that bike.”

In another odd twist, one of the reporters who wrote about the mystery at the time was Kennedy’s niece and John F. Kennedy’s granddaughter, Tatiana Schlossberg, who was working for The New York Times, a social media user noted

“So many questions remain unanswered,” she wrote. “How did the bear end up in Central Park? Was there foul play involved? Did she die in the park, or was she dumped there?”

Kennedy said that luckily, the story had died off until The New Yorker reported on it and asked him to verify it for an article about him and his campaign in the magazine.

“It’s going to be a bad story,” Kennedy predicted.

The New Yorker article, published Monday, included a photo of Kennedy with his hand in the bear cub’s mouth, pretending he was being bitten.

“When I asked Kennedy about the incident, he said, ‘Maybe that’s where I got my brain worm,’” the story’s author, Clare Malone, wrote.

A spokesperson for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation told WCBS’ John Doyle that RFK Jr. will not face charges in the 2014 incident, saying the investigation did not uncover sufficient evidence to determine if violations occurred. “The statute of limitation was one year, which has long expired,” the spokesperson said.

(NewsNation) — Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will not attend Thursday’s presidential debate with former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. Instead, Kennedy will answer the same debate questions in real-time on his website.

You can watch his counterprogramming above and follow along with our live analysis here.

Here’s what you need to know:

What is RFK Jr. doing during the debate?

Kennedy will answer the same debate questions as Trump and Biden on a live stream powered by X at 9 p.m. ET Thursday. The event will be moderated by John Stossel.

“Over 70% of Americans want a different choice than Presidents Biden or Trump,” Kennedy said in a video he posted on X. “They’re tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.”

RFK Jr. will be an exclusive guest on NewsNation after Thursday’s debate. Find your channel at joinnn.com.

NewsNation will embed the live stream of RFK Jr.’s debate response in the player above.

Why isn’t RFK Jr. at the presidential debate?

Kennedy did not qualify for the debate against Trump and Biden because he wasn’t on the ballot in enough states.

To qualify for the debate, a candidate must appear on the ballot in enough states to reach the 270 electoral college votes necessary to win the presidential election. Kennedy is currently on the ballot in six states.

“They are trying to exclude me from their debate because they are afraid I would win. Keeping viable candidates off the debate stage undermines democracy,” Kennedy wrote on X.

Participants must also receive at least 15% in four separate national polls of registered or likely voters according to CNN.

What could Trump and Biden debate?

Topics like immigration, the economy and the recent Trump and Hunter Biden felony convictions are likely to be highlighted during the debate. While Biden and Trump answer questions, Kennedy will answer about his policies along with them on his live stream.
