Burlington Stores is opening a new location in Bay Shore next week.
The off-price retailer will open a 43,123-square-foot store in Kimco Realty’s Market at Bay Shore retail complex at 1851 Sunrise Highway. The new store opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.
The Bay Shore space was formerly occupied by Big Lots, which closed towards the end of 2024 as part of the chain’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Burlington Stores bought the Bay Shore lease from Big Lots through an auction.
The new Bay Shore location features Burlington’s reimagined store layout, part of Burlington’s broader initiative to refresh its locations, according to a company statement. About half of the brand’s existing locations have already been converted and the remaining stores are expected to transition to the new format by the end of 2026.
“Our goal is to continue to offer area residents tremendous value on brand name merchandise for the entire family and home,” Michael O’Sullivan, CEO of Burlington Stores, said in a company statement. “We’re continuing to expand our footprint across the country and are excited to be opening a new store in Bay Shore. We look forward to giving local customers the chance to discover big savings on a wide range of products.”
Burlington offers branded merchandise at up to 60% off other retailers’ prices, including women’s apparel, menswear, youth apparel, baby, beauty, footwear, accessories, home, toys, gifts and coats, according to the company.
To mark the opening of the new store, on Friday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 11, the first 100 customers aged 18 and up will get a $10 Bonus Card to be used toward their purchase. In addition, Burlington will be donating $5,000 to teachers at Mary G. Clarkson Elementary School through their partnership with the national nonprofit organization AdoptAClassroom.org. The money will be used to provide students with classroom materials.
Publicly traded Burlington Stores, Inc., reported fiscal 2024 net sales of $10.6 billion. As of the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2025, the company operated 1,138 stores in 46 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.
The Burlington store in Bay Shore will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 9:30 a.m. to midnight on Sundays.
The 176,831-square-foot, 15-acre Market at Bay Shore shopping center is fully occupied with a tenant roster that includes Best Buy, Aldi, Harbor Freight Tools, Petco, Five Below and many others.
