Iconic Restaurant La Petite Maison, Founded by the Rubi Family, Partners With DB Group for Global Expansion

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    Apr 27, 2023

Nicole Rubi, founder and owner of La Petite Maison, has partnered with David Barokas, the founder of the luxury hospitality and entertainment company DB Group. Experts in brand development, they have been entrusted with the expansion of the La Petite Maison brand globally.

La Petite Maison, the emblematic restaurant located in the old town of Nice, world-renowned for its Mediterranean cuisine and festive atmosphere, has partnered with DB Group for their international roll-out.

La Petite Maison is the brainchild of the Rubi family, who opened the restaurant in the heart of Nice in 1987. It has since gained international acclaim, becoming an institution on the French Riviera thanks to authentic Mediterranean cuisine served in elegantly offbeat surroundings. The Rubi family and the DB Group later collaborated to open La Petite Maison in Palm Beach Cannes, and it resonated with global success.

Nicole Rubi adds: “With the tremendous success of La Petite Maison Palm Beach, it’s fundamental that our brand remains authentic. Thanks to the latest opening in Cannes, we’re confident that together with David Barokas and his team, we will successfully roll out our brand in markets beyond France with care and savoir-faire.”

The next La Petite Maison will open in Marbella’s Puente Romano Beach Resort hotel in 2024 in an exciting partnership signed by DB Group and the owner of this flagship hotel, Daniel Shamoon. In the same year, the brand will expand to Paris and Saint Barthélémy, with plans to develop the concept across Europe, the Middle East and the United States in 2025.

Building on the success of La Petite Maison, DB Group will add the restaurant concept to its portfolio of brands worldwide. La Petite Maison joins household names including La Guérite, Anna, Tamarín, Mamo Michelangelo, Luigi, Palm Beach Cannes, Shellona, Medusa, Gina and Pastis, among others.

  • Former Greek Finance Minister Varoufakis attacked in central Athens

Former Greek Finance Minister Varoufakis attacked in central Athens

    [ad_1]

ATHENS — Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis was attacked in central Athens late on Friday, suffering a broken nose, cuts and bruises.

The assault, which his party DiEM25 described as a “brazen fascist attack,” took place while Varoufakis was dining in the central Exarchia district with party members from all over Europe.

“A small group of thugs stormed the place shouting aggressively, falsely accusing him of signing off on Greece’s bailouts with the troika [the country’s bailout creditors],” DiEM25 said in a statement. “Varoufakis stood up to talk to them, but they immediately responded with violence, savagely beating him while filming the scene.”

Politicians from across the political spectrum swiftly condemned the assault in Varoufakis, the motorbike-riding, leather-jacket-wearing politician who became well-known as the country’s finance minister in 2015.

As part of the left-wing Syriza-led Greek government, Varoufakis battled the so-called troika and Europe-imposed austerity. While the Greek administration eventually capitulated and signed a bailout agreement, Varoufakis quit government and founded a cross-border far-left political movement, DiEM25.

“They were not anarchists, leftists, communists or members of any movement,” Varoufakis said in a tweet early Saturday. “Thugs for hire they were (and looked it), who clumsily invoked the lie that I sold out to the troika. We shall not let them divide us.”

The Exarchia neighborhood has a reputation for being a bastion of self-styled anarchists. Varoufakis was publicly harassed in 2015 while dining in the same district at the height of the financial crisis.

Greek Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos said police would take all measures to identify and arrest the perpetrators of Friday’s attack. He noted that the DiEM25 leader, “at his own initiative, was not accompanied by his personal police detail” while at the restaurant.

Greece has been hit by the biggest mass demonstrations since the eurozone crisis in recent days, as Greeks have taken to the streets almost on a daily basis to protest the country’s deadliest train crash, ramping up pressure on the conservative New Democracy government ahead of coming elections. The wave of public rage follows a train collision on February 28 that killed 57 people and raised profound questions about the management of the rail system.

The train crash has also sparked deeper questions about the functioning of the Greek state and fresh anger against the political system.

“Let us please stay focused: We are mourning the 57 victims of rail privatization. We support the spontaneous youth rallies, the greatest hope that Greece can change. See you at the demonstrations,” Varoufakis tweeted, as another big rally is scheduled for Sunday.

  • Atelier Crenn Plans New Vision for 2023

Atelier Crenn Plans New Vision for 2023

    [ad_1]

This February, the revitalized Atelier Crenn dining room reopens with help from renowned production designer Ethan Tobman

    Press Release

    Jan 19, 2023

Atelier Crenn has announced plans to reimagine itself in early 2023. After 12 years of drawing inspiration from her own childhood and personal journey, Chef Dominique Crenn’s flagship restaurant will evolve along with her, complete with a renovation of the dining room and pescatarian tasting menu. Although new in concept and design, the restaurant’s story continues to be deeply personal to Crenn. Lifting the veil on the next chapter of her career, the reborn Atelier Crenn will focus on California — the place that she now considers home.

The menu will celebrate California’s rich bounty, highlighting plants, fish, and seafood local to the place. The inspiration for Crenn, however, goes deeper than the ingredients listed on the menu. Guests will embark on a journey that guides them through different times and places, highlighting the beauty of California’s landscape both geographically and culturally. “California’s multitude of cultures, flavors, and ideas is what drew me here,” Crenn says, “and this menu is an ode to the place that I consider home. I want guests to see the beauty that is California and I want to help tell the stories that are often untold.” Guests can also expect to see local produce from Crenn’s own Bleu Belle Farm on the new menu.

Crenn’s recent work as chief technical consultant on Searchlight Pictures’ The Menu introduced Crenn to production designer Ethan Tobman. After their instant friendship was born, Tobman agreed to renovate the dining room of Atelier Crenn. “This collaboration was written in the stars,” says Tobman, “and to be able to bring Chef Crenn’s beautiful vision to life is such an honor. She is an inspiration to me and so many others.” Tobman is well-known for his work in films and music, working frequently with Taylor Swift and Beyoncé (Lemonade, Black Is King).

Atelier Crenn plans to reopen to the public in February of 2023.

About Atelier Crenn & Dominique Crenn:

Founded by Dominique Crenn and Juan Contreras in 2011, Atelier Crenn quickly garnered success earning three Michelin stars in 2018, making Crenn the first woman in the United States with the honor. She appeared with her team on season two of the Netflix documentary series Chef’s Table as well as Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend. Crenn currently holds a total of four Michelin stars, three for her flagship restaurant Atelier Crenn and one for Bar Crenn. Further accolades include the James Beard Foundation Award of Best Chef: West in 2018 and a 2021 World’s 50 Best Icon Award.

  • New York Holiday Season Dining Scene Welcomes Chinese Royal Chef

New York Holiday Season Dining Scene Welcomes Chinese Royal Chef

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    Dec 15, 2022

On a winter’s day in a bustling Manhattan midtown street, a small plaque with bronze rim and lettering donned on polished, white marbled tiled walls. Unbeknownst to passersby, hidden behind an obscure black door, is a beautiful Chinese restaurant run by Chinese Master Chef Guo Wenjun, an eighth-generation disciple in the sacred lineage of Chinese royal chefs.

Upon entering the restaurant, customers are greeted by five stone horse pillars on their right, each representing a mythological being symbolizing wealth, status, and nobility.

Like the feet of the statue of St Peter in the Vatican, customers are often seen touching the head of these pillars for good fortune. The beings, each representing a cardinal point, are the azure dragon, the white tiger, the vermillion bird, and the black tortoise. The Pixiu, the fifth being that shares some aesthetic similarities to a lion, is at the center of the pillars.

Chef Guo, who became a disciple of the royal chef Ding Guangzhou at 14, is now the eighth-generation disciple in the ancient lineage of royal chefs. This type of Chinese cuisine, also known as an imperial banquet, was usually enjoyed by Chinese royalties in the past. But what Chef Guo has created is an extension of that, and something entirely independent. He has coined his creation the Healthy Royal Cuisine Culinary System, which is also officially recognized in China as its own cuisine.

With Chef Guo’s decision to bring his restaurant to New York, he has allowed this prominent culinary artistry — reserved sometimes only for important celebrations and festivities of royalties — to be enjoyed by anyone looking to elevate their selection of holiday season eatery.

“Chef Guo is easily my first choice this holiday season,” says James Chang, a young professional from New York who has eaten at Chef Guo. “The overall vibe of this place, the attention to detail, the flavors…It is safe to say Chef Guo is a game changer for helping Americans from far and wide to understand the full potential of Chinese cuisine.”

The high-end ingredients used by Chef Guo are sourced from around the world, natural, and, most importantly, healthy. The 19-course meal, which includes three types of tea, is a culmination of over 40 years of the chef’s experience and essence, fusing with the modern knowledge of nutrition.

“The raw materials adopted by us are the most natural, best in quality, and precious food ingredients screened strictly from all over the world,” said Chef Guo. “Every dish you eat here is carefully prepared in strict accordance with the requirements of various indicators of the human body. While you enjoy the food, you can also, at the same time, strengthen your body.”

For this holiday season, check out Chef Guo’s restaurant at 135 E 50th St for the utmost luxurious experience in what Chinese cuisine has to offer.

Making Raving Fans Hospitality Group Promotes Meg Daigle to Vice President as Company Continues Expansion

    [ad_1]

Making Raving Fans Hospitality Group, the parent company of Baton Rouge restaurants Jubans Restaurant, SoLou, Portobello’s Grill, and P-Beau’s, promoted Meg Daigle to be the company’s new Vice President of Operations

    Press Release

    Oct 21, 2022 16:00 EDT

Making Raving Fans Hospitality Group, the parent company of Baton Rouge restaurants Jubans Restaurant, SoLou, Portobello’s Grill, and P-Beau’s, promoted Meg Daigle to be the company’s new Vice President of Operations. Daigle’s promotion will provide owners Peter Sclafani, Kiva Guidroz, and Michael Boudreaux more time to focus on more business development, including establishing new restaurant concepts and expanding current Making Raving Fans concepts.

Daigle started her career with Portobello’s Grill, one of the Making Raving Fans restaurant concepts, 26 years ago as a college student when she worked as a server before the restaurant relocated away from its Lee Dr. location in Baton Rouge. After graduating from LSU, Daigle moved on to New Orleans as Director of Operations for Raising Cane’s in the early 2000s as the chain was first beginning its rapid expansion. She then went on to hone her full-service skills as part of the team that relaunched Commander’s Palace in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Daigle returned to Making Raving Fans in Baton Rouge in late 2021, rejoining as Director of People, Culture, and Training, and has since proven herself as a leader within the company. Under Daigle’s leadership, Making Raving Fans has consistently hired top-tier talent even as the hospitality industry faces continued hiring challenges, and she has headed up several initiatives to improve training and company culture.

“During my time in New Orleans, I learned a lot about how to run restaurants efficiently and how to scale operations, and a lot of those skills translate to the type of business model that Making Raving Fans operates under,” said Daigle. “When I saw an opportunity to come back home to Baton Rouge and work with the Making Raving Fans team and help them continue their growth, I didn’t hesitate to reach out.”

Daigle’s recent promotion to Vice President of Operations will allow her to continue to impact the company’s culture while leading the Director of Operations, Director of Culinary, and 41 store-level managers.

“Meg has been phenomenal in leading operations and ensuring that our customers have the best dining experience at all of our restaurants,” said Peter Sclafani, co-owner of Making Raving Fans Hospitality Group. “With her as our first-ever Vice President, Kiva, Michael and I will have more time to focus on continuing to grow our business with the confidence that Meg is able to uphold the current operations. We’re looking forward to expanding the SoLou brand along the I-10 corridor and exploring new concepts as well.”

Making Raving Fans Hospitality was created in 2020 but was initially comprised of restaurants that have been serving high-quality food and drink in the Baton Rouge area for many years. The hospitality group was formed when Chef Peter Sclafani and Kiva Guidroz came together as partners, bringing their decades of experience under one name. Michael Boudreaux later joined the group in 2021, and the team has since added new establishments to its growing portfolio of restaurants. Together, the team continues to push the envelope of Baton Rouge’s culinary culture.

Reynolds, also a personal chef, has a long history in the hospitality industry. “I still work as a private chef but am now a partner in a restaurant. We have been open for a few months and are looking for new locations,” she added.

The Favorite Chef Competition helped Reynolds on her path to success, “Because of my placement, I was asked to be a consultant on my “boss” restaurant and then a partner, which is huge. I had zero intentions of ever going back to restaurants, but it’s been a fun role, to say the least.”

Favorite Chef is an online voting competition exclusively designed with cooks, chefs, and culinary creatives in mind. Favorite Chef, LLC donated over $1.1 M from the Competition to Feeding America®, making an estimated 11.5 million meals available to communities in need during the pandemic.

Zuppler Launches Menu Anywhere On-Premise Contactless Ordering Solution for the Food Service Industry

    [ad_1]

Integrated Technology Platform Powers Restaurants, Hotels, Hospitals, Schools, Cafeterias and Entertainment Venues – Everywhere Menus are Provided – to Serve Food Safely

    Press Release

    updated: May 26, 2020

Zuppler, a global software and services company focused on empowering solutions for the food services industry, today launched Menu Anywhere On-Premise Contactless Ordering on the Zuppler “Menu Anywhere” Platform, offering an on-premises contactless ordering solution for the $900 billion US food service industry. With applications for restaurants, hotels, hospitals, educational institutions, live events – everywhere menus are provided – this new offering limits contacts between guests, wait-staff and the kitchen, allowing customers to use their mobile device to engage with digitally-enabled, dynamic menus that send orders directly to the kitchen, as well as pay their bills, bringing a much-desired, heightened level of safety to guests and staff.

Menu Anywhere On-Premise enables a personalized and highly interactive experience allowing customers to track the status of their orders, see prior orders and favorite items; while providing dining establishments the ability to serve guests with limited staff, update menus and specials in real-time, capture order history, encourage guests to enroll in loyalty programs, and allow for more efficient operations.

“As restaurants, hotels, schools, live events and workplaces return in stages across the country, we know that the reimagined dine-in experience for millions of consumers will require significant change. We are excited to add this new on-premise innovation to Zuppler’s “Menu Anywhere” offerings to power food service operators with a safe, secure, personalized and innovative menu tool that gives consumers what they desperately want: a return to good food with the experience of eating outside the home in a safe manner,” said Shiva Srinivasan, Founder and CEO.

Mr. Srinivasan continued, “Menu Anywhere On Premise is scalable, can be adapted to different vertical markets and can operate in many environments. We customize the ordering process in a number of exciting ways that enhance the experience for consumers and give greater control and valuable information to food service providers. Today’s launch is a natural extension of our current offerings, and is entirely driven by the needs of our clients.”

“As our business starts to open post Covid-19, we were comfortable to manage our ‘to-go’ orders but were getting concerned about dine-in orders. The contactless dine-in product from Zuppler will solve this concern and help us manage the expectations of our customers around safety,” said Keith Pascal, partner at Act III Holdings and investor in Boston-based Life Alive Organic Café

Gordon Food Service, the largest family-managed broadline foodservice distribution company in North America, works closely with Zuppler to identify emerging needs within the foodservice industry. As foodservice operators began to reopen, the need to replace physical menus with digital, contactless alternatives quickly emerged.  “Zuppler has been an extraordinary partner. Their food ordering system has provided our customers with immediate solutions to support their business in a rapidly changing environment,” said Bill Balke, Director of Customer Marketing, Gordon Food Service.

In addition to serving 15,000 restaurants and food services clients across the globe, Zuppler enjoys important partnerships with leading transactions processor Worldpay (acquired by FIS in 2019) and Rewards Network, a provider of loyalty-based marketing and financing services to the restaurant industry.

“We think that in addition to delivering safety, Menu Anywhere On-Premise establishes the baseline for the next phase in dining hospitality, with more options, more flexibility, more control and more engagement with customers. In this way we help deepen the relationship and trust between guests and food service provider,” said Srinivasan.

Zuppler is a global software and services company focused on empowering solutions for the food services industry, offering Menu Anywhere, a complete online ordering platform for restaurants, caterers, groceries, universities, hospitals, hotels, sports stadiums and delivery services. Headquartered in Conshohocken, PA, Zuppler has additional offices in Romania and India. The Zuppler team has launched thousands of dynamic online ordering menus for brands across the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Zuppler also integrates with Google, and the leading delivery, POS, loyalty and payment providers.

Michell Rebel Reyes, Sole Owner and President of REBELMC ENTERTAINMENT LLC, joins networking organization

    Press Release

    updated: Feb 5, 2019

The International Association of Women (IAW) recognizes Michell Rebel Reyes as a 2019-2020 Influencer. She is acknowledged as a leader in entertainment. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with nearly one million members, 1000+ in person and virtual events, over 100 Local US based Chapters and International Chapters in several cities in China.

“I’m pleased to welcome Michell into this exceptional group of professional women,” said IPDN President and IAW Spokesperson Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”

A resident of Las Vegas, NV, Michell Rebel Reyes saw the need for an entertainment company that catered to the needs of women, particularly those in the LGBTQ community. “Here in Las Vegas, everything is mostly for men,” she said. “For example, there is not one LGBTQ women’s bar or a space for women to hold their events; everything has to be shared with the men and their spaces.”

So, two years ago, Ms. Reyes founded REBELMC ENTERTAINMENT LLC, which provides themed pool and club parties, venues for all functions, party buses to local areas, and more, for women. “I promote it as being a safe environment for women and one that does not exploit them,” she said. As the Sole Owner and President, Ms. Reyes is responsible for all aspects of the business, including customer service, sales, marketing and promotion.

“I am an MC (Mistress of All Events) and also a VJ/DJ,” she explained. “I am able to MC the events and also VJ/DJ the parties.” In addition to playing the music and showing music videos on a screen, Ms. Reyes ensures the correct sayings, such as personalized birthday greetings, flash across the screen as the video plays.

Although getting a company up and running is costly and a lot of work, Ms. Reyes is rewarded by the fact that she provides her clients with entertainment in a fun and safe environment. An active member of the LGBTQ community, she was a member of a committee in Chicago that brought the first Gay Games to the city. “I also started the Las Vegas Gay Chapter and got funding for it from one of the major credit card companies that I used to work for,” Ms. Reyes said. “I was also the VP of the Betty’s Outrageous Adventure, which is the largest LGBTQ women’s club here in Las Vegas with a membership of over 3,000 members. My future goal is to have the first LGBTQ women’s restaurant and nightclub in Las Vegas.”

    Education:  Wirral Metropolitan College, England
