One Tarrant County restaurant was closed during Oct. 12-25 health inspections because of insufficient hot water, and rodent droppings were found at several other facilities, according to data from the county compiled by the Star-Telegram.

NYC Bagel And Deli at 3930 Glade Road in Colleyville scored 80 on Oct. 23. The inspector noticed slimy matter and black grime inside the ice machine, and cockroaches, maggots and ants on the floor. None of the sinks had an adequate supply of hot water, and the facility voluntarily closed until the problem could be fixed.

NYC Bagel and Deli scored 87 on a follow-up inspection the next day and was allowed to reopen. The establishment is required to find a new pest control service because of the ongoing problem with ants, maggots and roaches on the floor of the dish area.

Tarrant County Public Health has transitioned to a new inspection report format. The highest possible score under the new system is 100, and 70 is considered extremely poor. Restaurants and other establishments that serve food scoring below 70 require a follow-up inspection. No establishments scored below 70 during this round of inspections. Wok N Roll Express at 2101 Hall Johnson Road in Grapevine scored 72 on Oct. 24. There were no food handler cards available, some raw chicken was stored above the noodles and the area around the outdoor grease trap was dirty. The restaurant inside Hareli Fresh Market at 2901 E. State Highway 114 in Southlake scored 73 on Oct. 15. Several boxes of food were on the floor of the walk-in cooler, the can opener was dirty and some food was stored uncovered or without a date label. Dirty Cajun Seafood Kitchen at 2400 Airport Freeway in Bedford scored 78 on Oct. 21. The restaurant’s health permit wasn’t posted, many food items were without labels and dates and the dishwasher wasn’t dispensing sanitizer. La Real Michoacana 11 at 615 Bellaire Drive in Hurst scored 78 on Oct. 16. One of its permits was expired and there were drain flies in the kitchen area. The facility received a perfect score of 100 during an Oct. 23 follow-up inspection. Pandan Thai Kitchen at 448 E Main St. in Crowley scored 79 on Oct. 16. Some perishable food items were stored without a date label, an open box of broccoli was on the floor under the hand sink and the kitchen staff’s food handler cards weren’t available. Several facilities reported problems with rodents. La Guera Micheladas Mix at 5724 Jacksboro Highway in Sansom Park scored 93 on Oct. 16. The inspector found rodent droppings in a cabinet with single-use coffee cups and the facility was unable to provide pest control service documents. Benbrook Quickway at 955 Winscott Road in Benbrook scored 95 on Oct. 20. The inspector noted possible rodent droppings in the cabinets underneath the popcorn and soda machines. Quick Pantry at 800 N. Crowley Road in Crowley scored 95 on Oct. 17. The inspector observed black organic matter inside the ice machine and rodent droppings in cabinets throughout the store. Tacomigo at 781 W. Bedford Euless Road in Hurst scored 88 on Oct. 15. The inspector found chewed insulation near a hole in the wall and instructed the facility to get rid of any rats and their debris.
