  • Girl, 12, dangles from ski chairlift in California before crashing to ground in terrifying video

A jaw-dropping video captured the traumatic moment a 12-year-old girl plunged to the ground after dangling momentarily from a ski chairlift in California.

The frightening incident happened Saturday at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort, when the visiting snowboarder appeared to be unsecured on the chairlift.

In a video that went viral on social media, the girl appeared to grip the chairlift in a desperate struggle as her feet flailed in the air, still strapped to her snowboard.

Several mountain staff members were then seen rushing over to help, placing padding and a safety net below in an attempt to catch her fall.

The girl then crashed to the ground, tragically missing most of the safety net, according to the footage. Rescuers appeared briefly in shock before scrambling over in alarm.

A woman claiming to be the girl’s mother commented on the post, saying her daughter “miraculously walked away with no broken bones or major injuries.”

“As the mother of my 12 yo daughter that fell today I really want to thank everyone who came out to help her,” she said. “The mammoth team did their best to get to her as quickly as possible. It was an incredibly traumatic experience and everyone supported us.”

Addressing questions about why the chair’s safety bar was not lowered, the mother emphasized that no one was at fault. She indicated that the chair slipped almost immediately after her daughter got on, leaving no time to secure it.

“As to the bar – we had no chance,” she added. “She slipped down right away. There was nothing that anyone did wrong. It was a series of small choices that happened quickly that led to a fluke accident.”

In the video, the girl appeared to be sitting next to two other people before falling. According to her mother, the group held onto her as long as possible, which gave rescuers time to respond.

“As a mother I know it is my job to protect my child,” she said. “We held on as long as we could. Long enough to have people get into position to allow her to walk away.”

Despite the traumatic experience, she said the family will not be deterred from skiing and “will be riding again when she’s ready.”

  • A tiny island was just ranked safest in the Caribbean — here’s why travelers love it

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

If safety is at the top of your vacation checklist, one tiny Caribbean island just earned top honors for peace, calm beaches — and a world-class food scene.

Anguilla, a British Overseas Territory just north of St. Maarten and east of the Virgin Islands, was named the safest destination in the Caribbean, according to a 2025 ranking from World Population Review, which evaluates crime, policing and political stability based on data from the Global Peace Index.

“Anguilla crime rates are the lowest in the Caribbean, with very few violent or petty crimes to mar its reputation as a tropical oasis,” the report found. “Tourists can feel safe and at ease in tranquil Anguilla.”

URGENT ADVISORY FOR EXOTIC DESTINATION WARNS OF ‘CRIMINAL GANGS’ AND ‘VIOLENT CRIME’

While the review noted that drug-related offenses are “moderate,” it added that such crimes rarely affect visitors.

The U.S. Department of State also lists Anguilla at a Level 1 travel advisory — the lowest possible risk level — advising tourists to simply exercise normal precautions.

“Here, peace isn’t found, it’s felt,” the Anguilla Tourist Board wrote on social media after the report was released. “From 33 beaches to the warmth of our community, safety is simply part of island life on Anguilla.”

AMERICA’S WEALTHY ARE QUIETLY BUYING THEIR WAY OUT WITH ‘GOLDEN’ VISAS

Following Anguilla in the World Population Review’s safety ranking were Barbados, St. Barts, Martinique, the Cayman Islands and Aruba.

John Rose, chief risk adviser for ALTOUR, a global travel management company, said Anguilla’s ranking stems from several distinct advantages. “Its isolation and limited access points also reduce cross-border criminal activity, and tourism is managed in a more controlled, boutique environment,” Rose told Fox News Digital.

The designation is a meaningful recognition not only for traveler confidence but also from a tourism economics perspective, he added.

It’s also not the first time Anguilla has earned international praise for its appeal.

Anguilla was also recognized by Travel + Leisure’s 2025 World’s Best Awards as one of the top islands globally — and the highest-ranked in the Caribbean — earning praise for its friendly hospitality, diverse cuisine and luxury resorts.

Experts and travel blogs often highlight Anguilla as a remote, exclusive escape free of shopping malls, cruise ships and high-rises where travelers can soak up crystal-clear waters, white sand beaches and fresh seafood feasts.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the island “is noted for its easy-going atmosphere and magnificent beaches and waters.”

Erin Schroeder, an Atlanta-based travel adviser and founder of Major Traveler, told Fox News Digital she agrees that Anguilla stands out as one of the best destinations in the Caribbean.

“The island of Anguilla being named the safest country in the Caribbean is an incredible win,” Schroeder told Fox News Digital. “Safety in the Caribbean is a top-three deciding factor when travelers are weighing various islands.”

In addition to safety, travelers also seek destinations that offer easy transportation and walkability — both of which Anguilla has, she added.

“I personally love the ability to walk along the beach at night to local restaurants, or exercise on the island’s flat roads, knowing that it’s safe to do so,” Schroeder said.

She noted that Anguilla’s exclusive, off-the-beaten-path appeal also makes it a little harder to reach, with only one direct flight option from the United States. “There’s a high price of entry, as travelers have to fly to St. Maarten and take a boat, which costs about $115 per person each way for a shared ferry,” she said.

Peaceful shores and welcoming locals have helped Anguilla earn the title of the Caribbean’s safest destination. (iStock)

Rose offered additional travel tips — take a “layered” approach to safety by reviewing local advisories, checking with hosts or advisers for up-to-date information, and practicing common-sense precautions such as limiting displays of wealth and using registered transportation.

“Safety is dynamic, not static,” he said. “The best travelers prepare by gathering accurate information before they go, monitoring while they’re there and staying ready to respond if something changes. That’s how you travel smart, not scared.”

  • Atlantic City Casinos Unite to Support Breast Cancer Awareness

    [ad_1]

    • October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
    • Atlantic City casinos are recognizing the initiative in various ways

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the nine casinos in Atlantic City are uniting in support of the annual initiative that supports research and the early detection of the disease.

Since its founding in 1985 through a partnership between the American Cancer Society and the pharmaceutical division of Imperial Chemical Industries, today AstraZeneca, October has served as the national month to raise awareness regarding breast cancer. Atlantic City casinos are once again recognizing the month through a series of initiatives.

Breast cancer impacts families in every community, but thanks to advances in detection and treatment, survival rates continue to rise. Each October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Atlantic City casinos stand united with our employees, guests, and the greater community to raise awareness and shine a light on this important cause,” said Mark Giannantonio, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) and Resorts Casino Hotel.

“Atlantic City casinos remain committed to supporting groundbreaking research, promoting early detection, and ensuring care for all those impacted by this disease,” Giannantonio added.

    Pink Lights

Throughout the month, Atlantic City casinos will display pink lights atop their hotel towers and on their facades.

The color pink is associated with breast cancer awareness. In 1991, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure began distributing pink ribbons to participants. Pink is also seen as a feminine and compassionate color.

Borgata, Caesars Entertainment’s three properties (Caesars, Harrah’s, and Tropicana), Ocean, Hard Rock, and Resorts all plan to light up their properties pink. At Golden Nugget, male staffers will wear pink and compete with one another to raise the most money for breast cancer research.

Hard Rock is selling a pink-colored cocktail all month long, with a portion of the drink’s proceeds supporting breast cancer. Caesars is running a similar pink cocktail special and has committed $1 of every drink sold to the American Cancer Society’s Men Wear Pink campaign. Resorts is also offering a pink cosmopolitan, with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society.

Golden Nugget says donated gaming vouchers will be given to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Resorts is donating its voucher buckets to the Men Wear Pink initiative of Greater Philadelphia.

Borgata and Caesars properties are additionally offering free on-site mammogram screenings for team members.

    Breast Cancer Statistics

Among the most funded cancers, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, except for skin cancers. Breast cancer accounts for about 30% of all new female cancers each year, the American Cancer Society says.

The organization says there are more than four million breast cancer survivors in the US, inclusive of current patients and those who have completed treatment.

The five-year survival rate for localized breast cancer, the lowest grade on the SEER (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results) scale, is better than 99%. However, the five-year survival rate for a Distant SEER diagnosis, meaning the cancer has spread to distant parts of the body such as the lungs, liver, or bones, is just 32%.

Elite Member Perks Helps Timeshare Owners Profit from Unused Travel Points

    [ad_1]

The travel points membership service is helping timeshare owners generate revenue from their unused points with its 100%, money-back guaranteed programs.

    Press Release

    Aug 24, 2022

Elite Member Perks, a travel points management service, has begun helping timeshare owners discover new ways to profit from their unused points. The service, which specializes in helping clients get value out of their property ownership, is now helping timeshare owners with everything from mortgage management to maintenance fee payment plans, all without putting their lines of credit or financial situations at risk.

In the post-pandemic era, online booking is the preferred method of travel, and vacation rentals are higher than ever. Those who purchase timeshares in the hopes of saving money and increasing their return on investment are often frustrated when the points that correspond to their allotted vacation time go unused at the end of a yearly cycle.

With Elite Member Perks, clients can enter into a lasting relationship with an expert team that will manage their points for them so that they may enjoy their vacations to the fullest. The Elite Member Perks team works to convert unused timeshare points into money in the form of reimbursement checks. When resorts refuse to buy timeshares back and the resale market fails to provide any value, the Elite Member Perks team can leverage its network to help clients receive reimbursement paychecks every quarter.

After recognizing the need to assist timeshare owners who were unable to take advantage of their ownership, principal owner Kyle Brown and his team set out to help individuals who were losing out on compensation from their unused points.

“We like to use the phrase ‘have peace of mind without losing a dime,’ when engaging with new clients,” said Brown. “Many timeshare owners fail to realize just how much compensation they are losing due to this issue. We work to educate our clients while simultaneously putting plans into action to reduce their losses and increase their revenue, all without ever putting their lines of credit at risk.”

Elite Member Perks primarily operates in Florida and Missouri. With physical office locations in both states, both teams have experienced tremendous growth in recent months. Both offices manage outreach and client services, and the Missouri office also oversees all reservations, customer service, onboarding, and payment processes.

Having just removed all sign-up fees from its programs, Elite Member Perks is looking to work with hundreds of new timeshare owners in the coming months. To learn more about Elite Member Perks’ programs, please visit https://www.elitememberperks.com

With customized features, the app presents opportunities to upsell to the customer. The order is sent directly to the kitchen, and a check is opened for the guest. Order notifications are sent to the room so the customer can see every step of the process and estimate when the food will arrive. Once the bill is paid, guests can have their receipt texted to their phone number.

Aireus Inc’s advanced iOS core POS system competes with traditional POS systems, which typically require complicated maintenance to keep running. Its powerful open cloud solution operates on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud and the advanced Apple iOS platform. An open API has been developed by the company, which can be interfaced with any hotel or resort’s website. Customized by the development team, the Aireus room service POS solutions help hotels, resorts and casinos provide great service to customers.
