  • Kim Kardashian’s Invisible-Strap Heels Are Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

Kim Kardashian’s Invisible-Strap Heels Are Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

    [ad_1]

It’s a miracle Kim Kardashian made it through the CFDA Awards without breaking an ankle. The Skims founder attended the Nov. 6 ceremony wearing a pair of platform “Barbie-foot heels” that doubled as an optical illusion. As she made her way up the American Museum of Natural History steps in New York City, the nearly invisible toe straps made it look as though her feet were attached to the stilettos by glue. Without the support of an ankle strap, we would’ve totally taken a tumble, but Kardashian ascended the stairs and posed on the red carpet like a pro with nary a wobble in sight.

As for the rest of Kardashian’s look, she wore a custom halter Chrome Hearts gown made of leather, embroidered with the label’s signature cross motif. The back of the dress was held together by metallic buttons that were undone at the bottom to create a slit, allowing her heels to peek out from underneath.

With the help of her go-to stylist, Danielle Levi, Kardashian finished the outfit with silver Chrome Hearts jewelry, a black manicure, and a tousled Pamela Anderson-style updo. During the award ceremony, she took the stage to present the fashion icon award to Serena Williams, the first athlete to receive the accolade.

The CFDA Awards gathered dozens of stylish celebrities to honor designers and stars shaping the fashion industry. Anne Hathaway hosted the event this year, arriving in a denim Ralph Lauren set and later changing into a red lace Rodarte gown. Other standout looks of the night included Lola Tung’s sheer embellished Balmain minidress, Mary J. Blige’s crystal-covered Christian Siriano gown, and Madelyn Cline’s strapless metallic Oscar de la Renta dress.

Check out the wild heels Kardashian wore to the CFDA Awards below, then look back at her style evolution through the years to see how much her footwear taste has changed over time.

  • Hunter Schafer Drips Down the Red Carpet in a Hand-Painted Puzzle-Piece Dress

Hunter Schafer Drips Down the Red Carpet in a Hand-Painted Puzzle-Piece Dress

    [ad_1]

Hunter Schafer served surrealist haute couture in a hand-painted puzzle-piece dress on Nov. 5. While attending the “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” premiere in Berlin, Schafer had her own Katniss Everdeen–inspired grand entrance in a crochet midi dress that created the illusion of paint dripping down her body. Her stylist, Dara, completed the look with a pair of white pointed-toe pumps. While it didn’t catch fire, the outfit certainly caught our attention from all angles as Schafer strutted down the red carpet.

Inspired by the artist Lucian Freud, who specialized in figurative art, the dress is made up of mosaic-like pieces of painted paillettes embroidered on crochet netting. According to the designer’s website, the inventive piece is intended to be a trompe-l’oeil reproduction of a woman’s body. In addition to the melting effect along the sleeves and hemline, the look also features subtle rhinestone detailing on the edge of each irregularly shaped segment. The avant-garde ensemble, designed by Daniel Roseberry, first made its debut in Schiaparelli’s fall 2023 haute couture runway show.

Beautiful in its draping, its array of colors, and the way it moves down the red carpet, Schafer’s dress is a fantasy vision brought to life. The closer you look, the more you notice. From the rosette shapes along the chest to the dark red heart along the rib cage, each shade of pink, yellow, and orange appears to be a celebration of the human anatomy. Some celebrity outfits mesmerize us with their unique fabric choices and carefully placed cutouts; Schafer’s dress demands a double-take the way the Mona Lisa deserves a spot in the Louvre: to appreciate the beauty in every fine detail.

Though the outfit employs a couple of our favorite red carpet trends — the mock-neck design and the naked-illusion-dress silhouette — the finished product is unlike anything we’ve seen before. Needless to say, Schafer would certainly earn our vote in the Hunger Games.

Ahead, see Schafer’s showstopping puzzle-piece dress from all angles.

  • The Thought of Walking in Julia Fox’s Pelvic-Cutout Dress Makes Me Sweat

The Thought of Walking in Julia Fox’s Pelvic-Cutout Dress Makes Me Sweat

    [ad_1]

At this point, when I see Julia Fox step out in a new look, I can’t help but pause to imagine myself wearing it. Be it a thin strip of fabric masquerading as a skirt or duct tape that functions as a bra, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around some of her outfits. The 33-year-old “Uncut Gems” star, who works with stylist Briana Andalore on sourcing her statement-making looks, turned a wardrobe malfunction into a major fashion moment at an Oct. 25 event.

Fox attended Room To Grow’s 25th anniversary gala at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City in a Mowalola scarlet-red “half-dress” made of crinkled leather. While the skintight bodice fit like a tank, the dress seemed quite restrictive due to bands that wrapped around her legs, broken up by cutout panels. Because the strips of her skirt were so thin, it was easy to make out her entire nude thong as she carefully attempted to head into the event. And the second cutout offered a clear view of her pelvic area, making butt cutouts, boob windows, and ab-revealing panels feel almost demure by comparison.

In most photos at the step-and-repeat, the “Down the Drain” author had to stand with her legs crossed at the ankles to avoid a wardrobe mishap (a bonus, though, is that she got to display her matching Prada pumps in the process). Fox’s ombré locks, which have been dyed varying tones of red over the past few months, cascaded in thick curls over her left shoulder thanks to a side part. She flaunted a glossy, plum lip, plenty of highlighter, translucent nails, and a single star-shaped earring in the ear that was visible.

Needless to say, I’d imagine an activity as simple as walking feels taxing in Fox’s dress, so posing for cameras would be completely out of the question for me. As we’ve seen though, there’s no out-of-the-box trend that Fox will shy away from, even if it literally defies gravity.

Scroll to see all angles of Fox in her red cutout dress at the Room To Grow gala in New York City.

  • Sofia Richie Brought Back a 2000s Beauty Trend We Thought We’d Seen the Last Of

Sofia Richie Brought Back a 2000s Beauty Trend We Thought We’d Seen the Last Of

    [ad_1]

Apparently, everything old is new again. That’s great news when it comes to some of our favorite trends like ’90s minimalism and ’70s makeup, but unfortunately, it also means the return of some less savory trends, like low-rise jeans and skinny eyebrows. The latest beauty trend that’s gained enough momentum to make it to Sofia Richie Grainge’s TikTok page? Concealer lips.

Before you scoff and exit this article, hear me out. Concealer lips of the 2000s were unequivocally bad. For anyone who doesn’t remember the trend, we used to cover our lips in concealer before leaving the house (yes, really). This was one trend we were all very happy to say goodbye to, but it looks like it might be back—with a twist.

Richie Grainge’s interpretation of concealer lips is a far cry from the allover lip looks we used to do. Instead, Richie Grainge uses concealer as a finishing touch to “pumpkin spice lips” by putting a dab of concealer in the center of her lips as a sort of highlighter. The result is an eye-catching ombré lip that we just might have to try ourselves—concealer and all. Keep reading for every product Richie Grainge used.

Martha Stewart Is Having a Fashion Renaissance, From Thigh-High Slits to Platforms

    [ad_1]

Martha Stewart is a tastemaker in her own right who has refused to abide by trends throughout the years. From her ’90s cottagecore days (for which there is a dedicated Instagram account) to her recent fashion resurgence as a Sports Illustrated cover model and Fashion Week front-row staple, she stays true to her favorite brands, classic accessories, and innate sense of glamour. At 82, Stewart told Vogue that her mantra is “less is more for a lot of women who are getting older.” But we’d argue that she’s long been a pioneer for polished and refined dressing with minimal logos.

Stewart counts Brunello Cucinelli and Dennis Basso suiting, Max Mara dresses, Clergerie platform shoes, and Hermès leather shirts as her wardrobe essentials, telling Interview that she maintains a growing collection in the latter category. “They’re the most wearable, beautiful, best-made clothing,” she said at the spring 2024 runway show, where she debuted a brand-new cashmere jacket from the Parisian house and toted a vintage Birkin from 2001.

Stewart also keeps her old Armani suits in rotation, though she’s also not afraid to try something new. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue stylist and costume designer Paolo Nieddu told POPSUGAR that the entrepreneur was more than willing to test out swimwear from Zimmermann and Saint Laurent on set. “Martha has a fabulous décolletage, and as a former print model, she knows how to wear clothes — not the other way around,” he said after working with her.

From the ombré sequined Jenny Packham gown she wore to celebrate her cover, to the sparkling tweed pantsuit she teamed with gold jewelry and metallic heels for an event in NYC, scroll to admire Stewart’s notable #OOTDs in recent history, some of which were documented from the entryway of her building — Martha Stewart, she’s just like us.

If you’re like me and didn’t score tickets to Taylor Swift‘s much-lauded Eras Tour, her concert film is the next best thing. Showing at AMC theaters worldwide, the movie was filmed during Swift’s Los Angeles shows at SoFi Stadium back in August. Tonight, she celebrated the premiere with a glitzy red carpet event at The Grove in L.A., where she wore a full-on ball gown.

Her blue Oscar de la Renta gown positively popped against the bright red carpet. No doubt the color was an homage to her latest album re-recording: 1989 (Taylor’s Version). The floral embroidery and unique cutouts ensured all eyes were on Swift—not that her fans would be looking anywhere else! • Julia Fox’s Multi-Cutout Corset Is Really Just Strips of Metal

Julia Fox’s Multi-Cutout Corset Is Really Just Strips of Metal

    [ad_1]

Julia Fox has managed to construct a wardrobe more polarizing than that of anyone else in Hollywood — including Lady Gaga. Working with stylist Briana Andalore, the 33-year-old “Uncut Gems” star and new author of “Down the Drain” has cemented a moment in pop culture with her kitschy street style outfits gawked at by fans and fellow runway show attendees alike. Sitting front row at Fashion Week presentations such as Wiederhoeft, where she memorably rocked both a wedding gown and poodle dress; Diesel, where she outfitted her son Valentino in matching denim; and Naomi Campbell’s PrettyLittleThing collection debut, where she arrived in nothing but chains and a patent leather trench coat, Fox is nothing if not courageous, pushing the sartorial envelope wherever she goes.

Though she rose to fame while dating Kanye West, and simultaneously stepping into the spotlight at Paris Haute Couture Week in 2022, Fox is a model, actor, and artist in her own right. She recently partnered with Victoria’s Secret on The Tour ’23, fronting the newest iteration of the show in a plunging yellow minidress designed by Lagos-based designer Bubu Ogisi. She also wore the above metal-plated corset gown and sheer, gauzy gloves to the “Something You Said Last Night” premiere in New York on Sept. 22, celebrating her role as executive producer on the film. While Fox has brought life to more divisive fashion trends than we can count, we’re spotlighting some of her most noteworthy ensembles ahead. Scroll to see if you can pinpoint one or two that really make your jaw drop.

Anne Hathaway Solved the What-Type-of-Jacket-to-Wear-With-Fancy-Dresses Problem

    [ad_1]

I don’t know about you, but I find figuring out what jacket to wear with a fancy dress to be surprisingly challenging. In the winter you can just put on a long wool coat and look instantly chic but in the fall when you don’t need something quite as warm, what’s a person to do? Anne Hathaway has an idea.

While attending a screening in New York last week of her new film She Came to Me, Hathaway wore a pink sequinned bustier dress from The Attico with sheer sparkly pumps. It was a decidedly “fancy” look with no obvious type of light fall jacket style to pair with it. But Hathaway knew exactly what to do. Post-red carpet, she topped it off with a cropped denim jacket, and it looked cool and perfect. Denim jackets are as versatile as it gets, and I like how nicely they contrast with a dressed-up outfit.

Keep scrolling to see Hathaway’s look for yourself, and shop denim jackets that would look amazing with a gown (or anything else).

While Fashion Month may be over, bringing your sartorial A-game is always in order, especially at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards. On Oct. 5, the Latine community’s most talented singers and rappers gathered at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, FL, to celebrate music and culture, and fashion was not forsaken. This year’s event marked 30 years since its inception. It’s birthed some bold style moments through the years, from Shakira’s medieval corset-and-skirt combo in 1999 to Becky G’s green Dundas cutout gown held together by metal rings in 2022.

Among this year’s recognized attendees were Bad Bunny, who won artist of the year; Peso Pluma, recognized for hot Latin song; and Karol G, who took home five awards, including top Latin album for “Mañana Será Bonito.” Styled by Zerina Akers, the Colombian singer celebrated her wins in a custom white satin corset and floor-length skirt, adorned with crystal fringe tassels, that showed off her collection of more than 20 tattoos. She accessorized with Sophia Webster platforms and wore her pink and blond hair in a messy bun with rosy makeup.

Meanwhile, Bad Bunny took an edgier approach in a white tee, Gucci pants, navy blue loafers, and accessories, including his signature backward cap and a scarf tied around his neck layered over diamond necklaces. Paris Hilton graced the award show stage in a mint green Area gown that featured a halter-style neckline, rectangular cutouts that bared her chest and sides, and rhinestone detailing. She teamed the sparkly number with metallic pumps, a coordinating Jimmy Choo clutch, and chunky crystal cuffs. Sofía Reyes also got the cutout memo, as she posed in a black and gold sparkly dress from Rahul Mishra and alluring Fabergé jewelry.

  • The Barbiecore Aesthetic Is This Season’s Biggest Celebrity Style Trend

The Barbiecore Aesthetic Is This Season’s Biggest Celebrity Style Trend

    [ad_1]

The Barbiecore trend is here to stay. While Y2K-inspired trends continue to dominate the fashion landscape, Barbiecore takes the nostalgic obsession one step further. And it’s not just to the hot-pink designs we’ve seen on the Valentino and Miu Miu runway but also, the colorful street-style looks inspired by the quintessential American fashion doll, Barbie. Yes, the star of the historic “Barbie” movie — first brought to life in 1959 by Ruth Handler in a strapless, black-and-white-striped bathing suits — is today most synonymous with a look more akin to Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde.” In other words, pink is her color.

With that pop-culture phenomenon shaping the zeitgeist, Barbie-pink looks remain in the forefront, on and off the red carpet. Cardi B embraced the trend in a head-to-toe Chanel outfit. Lizzo posed in a flirty Valentino skater dress and opera gloves. While piling on lots of pink is key, bold statement accessories such as towering platform heels, retro-shaped glasses, and gloves are not to be overlooked.

The style is more versatile than you, perhaps, ever imagined, ranging from sequin miniskirts to dramatic gowns; from string bikinis to sharp, tailored suiting. While there’s no limit to the style of clothing you choose, the color does have to embrace a vivid, powerful shade of pink — and if you dress monochromatically from head to toe, it makes even more of a visual statement.

Ahead, we’ve compiled some of our favorite celebrity Barbiecore takes to date.

    [ad_1]

Since Paul Mescal first graced our screens on Normal People back in 2020, his personal style has garnered the attention of the fashion set—myself included. Back then it was all about his viral simple chain necklace and super-short sporty soccer shorts, but these days it’s his sleek fashion-forward red carpets looks that have my attention. This is all thanks to his stylist Felicity Kay, who styles some of the most exciting up-and-coming talent like Ncuti Gatwa and Kit Connor (both actor’s respective Netflix series are a must-see). That said, I highly recommend following Kay on Instagram.

Last month, Mescal hit two red carpets in casual-chic looks that I immediately knew I wanted to recreate. Both follow an easy outfit formula composed of three main key pieces: a white basic top, neutral trousers, and black Adidas Samba sneakers. 25 Times David and Victoria Beckham Coordinated Outfits, From the ’90s to Today

    [ad_1]

David and Victoria Beckham have been together since 1997, memorably tying the knot at a lavish ceremony in Dublin, where they wore matching purple outfits with 3D florals to cut their cake. But the Hollywood couple have seen so many red carpets, runway shows, and royal weddings together since then, many of which they attended with their kids, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper. With the release of the Netflix docuseries “Beckham,” which follows David’s soccer career, we’re offered a nostalgic glimpse of the duo’s approach to mastering fashion trends in the ’90s and ’00s.

David, 48, and Victoria, 49, might have attended the UK “Beckham” premiere in his-and-her suiting, rocking midnight navy and white, respectively, but they’ve coordinated in plenty more styles throughout the ages. From all-black leather at a Versace store appearance to acid wash denim at a Whitney Houston concert in 1999, they’ve managed to keep their wardrobes in sync. On Sept. 29, David supported Victoria at her Fashion Week runway show in Paris, sitting front row with his children and Vogue’s Anna Wintour, just as he does each and every season. The athlete and fashion designer also enjoyed a trip to Versailles for the Jacquemus Le Chouchou presentation this past June, where they sported lightweight separates from the brand at the photo call, accessorizing their neutral pieces with dark sunglasses.

Ahead, look back at 25 of David and Victoria Beckham’s most iconic moments together, from casual courtside appearances and dinners at Nobu to the British Fashion Awards and the annual Met Gala.

  • GloRilla Honors Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes With BET Hip Hop Awards Outfit

GloRilla Honors Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes With BET Hip Hop Awards Outfit

    [ad_1]

The year was 1999. Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes shimmied, arms raised, down the red carpet at the Source Hip Hop Music Awards. Her outfit: head-to-toe brown suede featuring a fur skirt with a thigh-high slit. More than two decades later, GloRilla reimagined Lopes’s ensemble at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards on Oct. 3 in Atlanta. A clear homage to the late TLC member, GloRilla’s outfit featured a crisscross halter top and a similar floor-length fur skirt. She styled the ’90s-inspired look with black boots, gold earrings, and a space-bun hairstyle.

TLC — consisting of Lopes, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins — were pioneers of ’90s fashion, setting trends in everything from baggy jeans and overalls to chromed-out bikini tops. In fact, at the time of her passing, Lopes was working on a pajama line in collaboration with Kyle Young, according to an interview with Wendy Williams in 2000. Now, 21 years after Lopes’s unfortunate death in a car accident, GloRilla’s outfit serves as a reminder that the rapper’s impact has not been forgotten.

Lopes’s original look featured a tawny-brown suede crop top with a crisscross halter neckline, a lace-up bust, and oversize cargo pockets on either side of the chest. Past her exposed midriff, Lopes continued the monochrome look in a voluminous fur skirt with silk lining and a suede waistband. She completed the unique outfit with a pair of knee-high, square-toe boots and drop earrings.

Replicating Lopes’s design, GloRilla strutted down the red carpet in a chocolate crisscross halter top and a textured fur skirt. Similar to Lopes’s, Glorilla’s skirt featured a strip of fabric around the waist mirroring her top. The skirt also included a thigh-high slit that exposed her pointed-toe boots. Though GloRilla’s color scheme was noticeably darker than the original, her outfit was a beautiful nod to Lopes from every angle. GloRilla even took a moment to pose for the camera with her arms outstretched, just like Lopes did.

  • Rita Ora Hops on the Naked Trend With an Extremely Sheer, Caped Catsuit

Rita Ora Hops on the Naked Trend With an Extremely Sheer, Caped Catsuit

    [ad_1]

Only a decade ago, Rita Ora rose to fame with her feature on DJ Fresh’s single “Hot Right Now.” Initially a singer/songwriter, the now-32-year-old has successfully expanded into other industries, including TV and film, playing critical roles on “The X Factor” and “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Ora has also dabbled in the fashion world, both as host of “America’s Next Top Model” and collaborator with Adidas (2014), Giuseppe Zanotti (2018), and Primark (2023), launching a 169-piece international collection with the UK retailer. This should come as no surprise, being that her style has always been something to watch.

The “Don’t Think Twice” artist has developed an affinity for sultry silhouettes, from her plunging Barbara Casasola dress for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards to her Tom Ford sheer lace wedding gown that she wore to marry husband Taika Waititi in 2022. And while some of today’s biggest trends include fishnet dresses and cutout swimwear, Ora has been rocking them long before they resurfaced. The early days of her career were marked by ensembles as simple as the little black slip she wore to a Paper Magazine party to something edgier, like the all-leather Jean Paul Gaultier getup she wore for a visit to Sirus XM Studios. In 2016, Ora most memorably turned heads at the annual Met Gala in her most groundbreaking dress: a silver feathered gown with hip cutouts by Vera Wang.

The British songstress continues to showcase her sartorial diversity by donning the most boundary-pushing outfits for performances, too. She recently embraced the naked aesthetic in a see-through caped catsuit while taking the stage at the 2023 Invictus Games. Of course, it’s not the first time she’s gone sheer, having rocked a lacy number by Alaïa during Paris Haute Couture Week, a Jean Paul Gaultier illusion skirt set, and a liquid latex dress in June.

As we anticipate her next move, take a look at Ora’s best style moments throughout the years.

From her breakout roles in “The Princess Diaries” and “Ella Enchanted” to her recent performances in “Armageddon Time” and “WeCrashed,” Anne Hathaway has embarked on quite the impressive style transformation, today positioning herself as a connoisseur of all things glamour on the red carpet. With Bulgari and Versace campaigns under her belt and a taste for other high-end luxury labels such as Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and Armani, she is now expected to make a sartorial statement at any event she attends. Hathaway, 40, works with stylist Erin Walsh on her outfits, which have recently taken on an edgier tone thanks to touches of patent leather, shorter hemlines, and even ornamental embellishments like sequins or the beaded hood she wore to Bulgari’s high jewelry event in Venice, Italy.

Most recently, Hathaway marked her partnership with Shiseido as Vital Perfect global ambassador, and she slipped into an intricate gold vegan leather leaf paillette gown from CD Greene to mark the occasion. With a shimmering, sheer-paneled bodice that caught the light at every turn and a natural glow courtesy of makeup artist Gucci Westman, Hathaway turned heads. Her long, brown hair was swept into an elegant side part by Adir Abergel, and finishing touches came by way of strappy, minimalist gold sandals, Bulgari serpent stacking rings, and diamond-encrusted architectural earrings that cascaded from her ears just like the scale-like pattern on her dress.
