The 2024 Met Gala has arrived, bringing some of the best red carpet looks we’ll see all year. Guests at the gala adhered to the dress code of “The Garden of Time,” in honor of the Met’s exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” which celebrates fashion so fragile that it can no longer be worn. Here, see how the stars showcased their interpretation of the theme, florals and all. Scroll through to see every look.
Fashion has always been a symbol of one’s political allegiances. During the early 20th century, English suffragettes wore white outfits to communicate that England would become more pure if women could vote. Likewise, during America’s civil rights movement, Black communities began wearing suits to certain protests in order to combat the racist belief that Black people were unsophisticated and primitive. However, there’s one fashion totem that’s only recently become synonymous with protests and political dissent, the Met Gala.

The Met Gala, once known as the Costume Institute Gala, is an annual fashion event held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Since its inception in 1948, it has been used to raise money to preserve the museum’s massive costume and fashion collection. This event has always been expensive and prestigious, with only the biggest names in the zeitgeist being invited to attend.
While there’s no doubt that many outfits across the Met Gala’s illustrious history have featured political statements, mainstream media really began paying attention to such ensembles in the mid-2010s. During this era, audiences were hungry for their favourite artists to take a stance on each and every political issue. Likewise, some celebrities were more than happy to use this juncture to platform certain issues that they cared about.
Since the mid-2010s, the practice of wearing a protest outfit to the Met Gala has waxed and waned. Let’s dive into the history of this phenomenon.
2016 — Emma Watson’s Calvin Klein Suit
Getty Images
Each year, the Met Gala has a theme and dress code that each attendee must adhere to, and 2016’s theme was “Fashion in an Age of Technology.” The actress Emma Watson adhered to this theme by wearing gorgeous black pants, a monochrome bustier, and a black train, all of which were made from recycled materials. By wearing this Met Gala outfit, Emma was protesting the fast fashion industry, declaring that we now have the tech to make sustainable outfits the future.
In a statement, Watson thanked Calvin Klein and Eco Age for creating her ensemble. She also explicitly remarked that her outfit was political.
“The body of the gown is crafted from three different fabrics, all woven from yarns made from recycled plastic bottles,” Watson said. “Plastic is one of the biggest pollutants on the planet. Being able to repurpose this waste and incorporate it into my gown for the Met Gala proves the power that creativity, technology, and fashion can have.”
“It is my intention to repurpose elements of the gown for future use. The trousers can be worn on their own, as can the bustier, the train can be used for a future red carpet look. I’m looking forward to experimenting with this. Truly beautiful things should be worn again and again and again.”
2018 — Lena Waithe’s Wes Gordon Cape
Getty Images
In 2018, the Met Gala theme honoured Catholicism, being “Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” However, due to the Catholic church being famously anti-LGBT, queer actress Lena Waithe and her outfit didn’t kowtow to this theme. The creator of Twenties instead wore a flowing Pride cape, a rainbow of defiance which was designed by the iconic Wes Gordon.
In the sea of crosses and veils, Waithe’s cape screamed that the Catholic church’s hatred of LGBT people will not be forgotten, nor will this community disappear quietly into the night. Waithe’s cape also symbolised a future she desired, where people everywhere could be free to express themselves without prejudice.
“I felt like a gay goddess,” Waithe said of the outfit. “When I saw the cape in person, I got emotional, not just because it was so stunning, but I knew we would be making a statement.”

While Lena Waithe rebelled against the Met Gala in 2018, this statement fortunately worked in her favour. Waithe was invited back the following year. Better yet, she was appointed to the Met Gala committee.
In 2019, the Met Gala’s theme was “An Exploration of Camp”, and Waithe decided to use her ensemble to honour the pioneers of this theatrical, intentionally exaggerated, queer aesthetic. She did so by wearing a hydrangea pinstripe suit designed by Kerby Jean-Raymond. On the back of her jacket were five words, “Black drag queens invented camp.”
“To me, I really wanted to make sure my outfit represented the Black drag queens who started this camp thing, being over the top and all that jazz,” Waithe said at the Met Gala. “People like Pepper LaBeija, Dorian, Willi Ninja, Ru Paul. These pioneers really started this whole camp thing.”
Jean-Raymond, Waithe’s designer and companion for the evening, also wore a pinstripe suit to the event, however, his was white and had a different message on the back. Jean-Raymond had some advice for the Haitian American community, a group of marginalised individuals who struggle to secure affordable housing, a group that he’s a part of. The back of his pinstripe said, “Fix your credit, pool your money, buy back the block.”
2021 — The Peak of Met Gala Protest Outfits
In 2021, there was a boom of politically explicit Met Gala outfits. We’re not talking about one or two people in a cluster of conformists, at least seven people went ham. This was partly due to the theme of the 2021 Met Gala being “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” America is a country with an insurmountable number of political, social, and economic issues, which gave each Met Gala attendee a wide variety of plights they could platform.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — “Tax the Rich”
Getty Images
To begin with, US representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez used her Met Gala gown to protest the fact that the top 1% of American earners possess 99% of the wealth. Ocasio-Cortez believes that not only is this disparity unfair, it’s also perpetuated by wealthy people jumping through tax loopholes. The gala gown that Ocasio-Cortez wore was white, made by Brother Vellies, and had the words, “tax the rich,” written upon its back.
Dan Levy, Nikkie de Jager, and Megan Rapinoe

Meanwhile, actor Dan Levy, make-up artist Nikkie de Jager, and football star Megan Rapinoe, all used their outfits to honour America’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Levy’s shirt, of two men kissing, was dedicated to the AIDS activist David Wojnarowicz. Likewise, Jager’s floral green dress was a homage to the trans activist, Marsha P Johnson. Last but not least, Rapinoe held an ocean blue handbag, one adorned with the words, “In gay we trust.”

Cara Delevingne — “Peg the Patriarchy”
Getty Images
Another notable ensemble was served by the actress Cara Delevingne. In 2021, Delevingne wore a white, Maria Grazia Chiuri vest with the words “Peg the patriarchy” written across the middle. America, like the rest of Western society, is controlled by patriarchal, male-dominant institutions, and Delevingne wants to challenge said status quo.
“If anyone doesn’t know what ‘peg’ means, you’re gonna have to look it up, because I’m not going to explain it right now,” Delevingne said at the Gala. “But peg the patriarchy is about women empowerment and gender equality. It’s a bit of a ‘stick it to the man’.”
2022 — Quannah Chasinghorse’s Chiffon Dress

In 2022, the Met Gala’s theme was entitled, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, the second part of the 2021 theme. Unlike the 2021 Gala, though, hardly any of the attendees used what they wore to make explicit political statements. One of the only Met Gala protest outfits worth remarking on was worn by the Hän Gwich’in and Oglala Lakota artist, Quannah Chasinghorse.
As an Indigenous Canadian and Native American, Chasinghorse wanted to use her outfit to honour these two cultures while rejecting the Western forces that subjugated her families. Chasinghorse did this by wearing two First Nations feather hairpieces and some custom Indigenous jewellery made by Lenise Omeasoo. These pieces were framed by a stunning aqua Prabal Gurung gown.
“I did not celebrate American independence, nor will I ever,” Chasinghorse said. “I celebrate my Indigenous bloodlines coursing through my veins… Over and over again, my people fought genocide, and we are still here!”
“It truly is an empowering feeling knowing that my presence brings much-needed visibility to Indigenous beauty, fashion, art, and our communities, along with many of the things we face as a collective.”
2023 — Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Silence
Getty Images
On 19 February 2019, the German fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld, died from prostate cancer complications. Four years later, the Met Gala honoured this man by making its 2023 theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Lagerfeld is famous for reviving Chanel, creating several masterpieces for Fendi, and working for the French house Chloe. He’s also known for fat-shaming celebrities, disliking same-sex adoption, and calling the Holocaust “the greatest thing Germany invented”.
Due to Lagerfeld’s legacy being soiled by intolerance, many voices in the fashion industry were displeased that he was to be honoured at the 2023 Met Gala. On the Sunday before the Met Gala, a nonprofit called Model Alliance protested this decision on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This protest was spearheaded by the Model Alliance’s founder, Sara Ziff.
“This year’s Met Gala, which happens to fall on International Workers’ Day, will honour the creative genius of Karl Lagerfeld,” Ziff said. “What will undoubtedly be left unsaid about Lagerfeld, who I worked with regularly as a model, is any mention of his problematic attitude towards women who didn’t fit his harmful and outdated standards.”
However, while plenty of people critiqued Lagerfeld before the Met Gala kicked off, all was quiet on the runway front. At the 2023 Met Gala, there were no ensembles that explicitly condemned Lagerfeld’s behaviour. Some of the guests wore pink, a colour that Lagerfeld occasionally disliked, but not a single celebrity wore a “Tax the Rich” or “Peg the Patriarchy” outfit.
Is the age of Met Gala protest oufits over? Or will they make a return in 2024? Only the rich and powerful can make such a call.

The two walked The Fall Guy red carpet on Tuesday, April 30, wearing the same costumes — and full prosthetics — from a now-viral SNL skit where Gosling, 43, and Day, 44, were dressed as lookalikes of the iconic cartoon characters.
Videos from Tuesday’s red carpet showed the actors standing awkwardly on the red carpet as they stayed in character. Both Gosling and Day kept straight faces as the cameras snapped photos of them. Eventually, Gosling motioned to Day and the duo continued walking. The stars looked around confused the entire time they were on the carpet, further extending the bit from the SNL skit last month.
Gosling did, eventually, remove the prosthetics and changed into a mint green suit for a second walk down The Fall Guy red carpet. The movie, also starring Emily Blunt, is set to hit theaters on Friday, May 3. While Gosling looked amazing following his outfit change, the Beavis and Butt-Head moment still took center stage all night.
Gosling and Day’s “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketch became an immediate standout during SNL’s April 13 episode, especially after Heidi Gardner broke character during the live show. Gosling and Day played audience members during a NewsNation livestream event focused on AI where Kenan Thompson was in character as a tech mogul. As Gardner, 40 — acting as the show’s host — asked him questions, Thompson, 45, was continuously distracted by Gosling and Day looking like Beavis and Butt-Head.
When turning around to look at her costar, Gardner couldn’t help but start to giggle, which caused Gosling to laugh throughout the rest of the skit as well.

After the now-iconic “Beavis and Butt-Head” sketch, Gosling continued to have the giggles during his SNL performance. Another notable moment came in the “Doctor” sketch with Bowen Yang, where the duo — both wearing long wigs — has to inform a family that their loved one did not make it.
Ryan Gosling has come a long way since his days as a Mouseketeer on Disney’s The Mickey Mouse Club with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera. As he celebrates his 34th birthday, take a look at how he went from boyishly charming child star to one of Hollywood’s hottest leading men.
“I did not know that he would break to the level that he did [in ‘Doctor’]. I think the ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ sketch was before us, and that kind of set it up for that,” Yang, 33, told Us Weeklyexclusively last month. “The wig we didn’t see until the day of. We just told the hair department, Jodi Mancuso, she’s a genius. My doctor look had been pre-established from the Nate Bargatze episode. So, we were like, let’s just do something for him that’s blonde, but also kind of similar, asymmetrical, crazy, whatever. And they had so much fun with it. He was blowing on the bangs during [the] run through, and it was making everybody laugh.”
Gardner broke again during that sketch.
“Heidi, I’m going to single her out again. I think she was just giggly all week and she lost it,” Yang continued. “But it was so much fun.”
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright went from the Valley to the Capitol when they hit the White House Correspondents Dinner red carpet on Saturday, April 27.
Cartwright, 35, looked glamorous in a black, corseted strapless gown with matching full-length gloves, but she did not have her estranged husband on her arm. She and Taylor, 44, each walked the red carpet solo, just hours after they both attended the White House Correspondents’ Garden Brunch in Washington, D.C.
While they didn’t take photos together, they did sit next to each other. Taylor, who wore a black State and Liberty Clothing Co. suit, showed Cartwright via his Instagram Story and vice versa. They were guests of the Daily Mail.
The separated couple’s appearance comes one year after Ariana Madix made her post-Sandoval red carpet debut at the same event. She attended alongside Lisa Vanderpump and Lala Kent last year as guests of the Daily Mail. Taylor and Cartwright’s turn on the carpet comes amid their highly publicized split.

Before Taylor and Cartwright joined Bravo’s The Valley, which debuted earlier this year, they were first introduced to audiences on Vanderpump Rules. Their 2019 wedding was filmed for the show one year before the duo announced their departure. They went on to expand their family with son Cruz, whom they welcomed in 2021.
Amid their small screen return, Taylor and Cartwright surprised fans when they announced their separation in February. However, Cartwright has made it clear that Taylor could win her back — if he makes changes.
“There’s definitely a chance,” she revealed in her Us Weekly cover story earlier this month. “But I won’t waste my time and get back into a toxic situation. Now the veil has been lifted and I see how much I was always cleaning up Jax’s messes. I’m thrown in the middle of all these fights and constantly forced to apologize for him in the media and to friends. It’s hard.”
When asked what exactly he needs to do, Cartwright said there’s a lengthy list. “There are a lot of things, and I’m not seeing enough effort from his side,” she explained to Us. “He needs to go to therapy. He doesn’t need to be staying out at the bar all the time. He needs to respect me more and stop taking me for granted. I was the closest person to him and was kind of like his punching bag. He was always giving me jabs. I can’t deal with that for the rest of my life.”

While Taylor has apologized for various things — from publicly embarrassing her to criticizing on her looks — his wife wants to see actual progress.
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s love story wasn’t exactly a fairy tale leading to their 2024 break. Taylor met Cartwright in between seasons 3 and 4 of Vanderpump Rules in the spring of 2015. Fans watched Cartwright move to Los Angeles to be with Taylor during season 4 of the reality series. While she quickly […]
“He acknowledged it but then he’s always like, ‘I said sorry.’ He likes to think that just saying, ‘I’m sorry,’ will be fine and we should move on. … I can’t do that now, this is too serious. And if things don’t change, then we can’t be together because we’re gonna be unhappy for the rest of our lives. I don’t want to be unhappy for the rest of my life. I don’t want to be in a sexless marriage for the rest of my life. I don’t want to be arguing with my husband for the rest of my life.”

She even moved out because of the bickering, opting to live in an Airbnb until they figure out their next move.
“The fighting has to stop,” Cartwright said. “We were just constantly digging at each other. We got to that point, which I think a lot of marriages go through, where everything that the other person does is getting on your nerves. That’s a horrible feeling and a horrible way to live. That’s one of the main reasons I knew that we needed space from each other.”
Whether Taylor can fix their marriage remains to be seen, but either way, she’s happy that she took control of her life. “I feel good,” she said. “I feel strong, and I’m proud of myself for doing what’s right for my mental health and my family.”

A press release reports that Not Another Church Movie “parodies the wildest moments in pop culture church antics with a no-holds-barred assault on recent church-themed films.”
Hoprah Windfall, fretting as her ratings plummet because her talk show and audience need some new blood, calls on God and demands His help. God and his angels decide there’s no better choice to replace her with than the hardest working man in the world, Taylor Pherry. While Taylor prepares for one of his many jobs that mostly entail helping his dysfunctional but lovable family through their trials and tribulations, God appears and orders him to help Hoprah accomplish her mission, by writing a movie. LOS ANGELES — Celebrities wore red pins on the red carpet for the 96th Academy Awards in support of a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
Several attendees, including Billie Eilish and Finneas, best song nominees for “What Was I Made For?” from “Barbie,” wore pins for Gaza. Ava DuVernay and Ramy Youssef were also among those wearing pins.
The pins were handed out by a group called Artists4Ceasefire.
In a statement, Artists4Ceasefire wrote:
“The pin symbolizes collective support for an immediate and permanent cease-fire, the release of all of the hostages and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.”
Nearby the Oscars at the Cinerama Dome, demonstrators have lined the streets to protest and call for a cease-fire in Los Angeles.
The Oscars, kicking off on ABC at 7 p.m. EDT Sunday, are springing forward an hour earlier than usual due to daylight saving time. But aside from the time shift, this year’s show is going for many tried-and-true Academy Awards traditions. Jimmy Kimmel is back as host. Past winners are flocking back as presenters. And a big studio epic is poised for a major awards haul.

Danielle Brooks found a creative way to convey that she is making history at the 2024 Oscars.
The 34-year-old actress graced the red carpet on Sunday, March 10, wearing “26” on her nails. The number signifies that she is the 26th Black woman to ever be nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars.
Brooks wore the sentimentally detailed nails with a strapless black Dolce and Gabbana gown that featured a corset-like top, a deep thigh slit and a long train that splayed out to the side.
She wore her shoulder-length hair down and parted to the side. For glam, she sported black winged eyeliner, long lashes and dewy foundation.
The 2024 Oscar nods include several frequently-nominated stars, but even more interesting are the many first-time nominees. Brooks is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Color Purple. She is nominated alongside four other actresses, including Emily Blunt for her role in Oppenheimer, America Ferrera for her role in Barbie, Jodie Foster for her part in Nyad and Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her role in The Holdovers.

The Color Purple tells the poignant story of Celie (Fantasia Barrino), a Black woman in the early 20th century American South, who overcomes oppression and abuse to find her voice and self-worth. Brooks plays Sofia, Celie’s assertive and resilient sister-in-law.

The Color Purple was surprisingly snubbed at this year’s Oscars. Brooks is the only actor from the film to be nominated for an Oscar, and the film itself did not garner any nominations.
The stars were out and shining bright on the red carpet at the 2024 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards. The 17th annual ceremony, which honors women who have made remarkable achievements in the film and TV industry, took place in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 7. This year’s honorees included Danielle Brooks, Halle Bailey […]
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight published on February 12, Brooks revealed how she feels about her nomination in light of this fact.

“We can’t predict what’s going to happen but this would be a huge win, not just for me, but for all of the people involved [in the movie],” Brooks told the publication, adding, “I am super humbled, but there’s so many people that I want this for — especially because The Color Purple has left such a stamp on American cinema that I think it’s deserving of it.”
LOS ANGELES — The Oscars are the most anticipated award show of the year, and before we find out who walks away with the Golden statues, all eyes will be on the show before the show: the Red Carpet.
This year’s coverage might look a little different as the Academy is reimagining the Red Carpet for a new generation.
It’s doing that with the help of social media stars like Amelia Dimoldenberg, the creator of the Youtube series “Chicken Shop Date.”
Her interviews have amassed more than 400 million views online – an audience that the Academy hopes to tap into.
“She’s witty, she’s clever, she reaches a young demographic that’s important for us,” said Academy CEO Bill Kramer. “And she knows movies and she has a lot of fun with it.”
They have made her this year’s social media ambassador and Red Carpet correspondent.
“When we announced Amelia, our social channels blew up,” Kramer said. “There was so much love for this decision. And from a lot of people who normally don’t engage with the Academy.”
Reporter Chris Murphy was on the carpet with Dimoldenberg at last year’s Vanity Fair Oscars party.
“Something that I think Amelia does that’s really interesting and that I think is happening more and more in our current landscape, is that she’s also a character on the carpet,” Murphy said. “She’s not just a hand holding a microphone in somebody’s face.”
He said her quirkiness might even make the stars more comfortable.
“Maybe they’re quirky themselves, so we get to see the stars be more interesting and more fun, and it makes the whole thing better because she’s not shrinking into the back,” Murphy said.
While we don’t know who will walk away a winner – you can bet on must-see moments being made on the red carpet.

You would be forgiven if you mistook the SAG Awards 2024 red carpet for New York’s La Côte Basque in 1965. Stars channeled the elegant midcentury glamour of the ‘60s and early ‘70s currently being showcased on Feud: Capote vs The Swans, all sweeping silhouettes, off-the-shoulder gowns, and absolutely impeccably draped details. The look ruled the red carpet at Los Angeles’s Shrine Auditorium Saturday night as the Screen Actors Guild gathered to salute and celebrate the year’s best performances in film and television.
Writer Truman Capote famously surrounded himself with his so-called “swans” in post-World War II New York City, the high society women like Babe Paley, Slim Keith, and Lee Radziwill who commanded as much social influence as they did money. No matter whether they were enjoying a martini at lunch or an evening glass of champagne, the swans looked put-together and, above all, expensive—and today’s biggest stars from Maestro’s Carey Mulligan, swathed in champagne-gold Armani, to The Morning Show’s Greta Lee in an intricate floral cutout gown by The Row, paired with elbow-length black leather gloves, brought the period’s elegance to Saturday’s awards ceremony.
So grab your favorite strand of classic pearls, practice your very best mid-Atlantic accent, and take a look at the SAG Awards 2024’s lake of celebrity swans, including Taraji P. The annual Screen Actors Guild Awards celebrate the best acting in film and television, as voted on by SAG-AFTRA members. Along with a shiny trophy, winning a SAG Award also comes with the honor of acknowledgment and recognition of industry peers. This year, Barbie and Oppenheimer each scored four nominations, leading the film pack in terms of the most nods. For television, Succession came in hot with five nominations.
The 30th SAG Awards kick off this evening at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, and for the first time ever, will stream live on Netflix, starting tonight (Saturday, Feb. 24) at 8:00 pm ET. There will not be host for the ceremony, as has been the case for the past four years.
Before the main event, though, there’s the red carpet, which always delivers major memorable style moments. Below, see the best red carpet fashion from the 2024 Sag Awards.
At the BAFTA Awards 2024 on Sunday, the red carpet welcomed television and film stars to Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall, a venue located on the banks of the River Thames. But before taking their places in the 2,700-seat theater to celebrate outstanding achievements on screens big and small, nominees, presenters, and guests hit the red carpet to kick off the star-studded evening.
This year’s group of nominees are no stranger to the awards-show circuit, with several being lauded for their red-carpet fashion over the past few weeks. At the BAFTA Awards 2024 (which many consider an important precursor to the Academy Awards, which are scheduled for March 10), chic stars like Ayo Edebiri, Barry Keoghan, Bradley Cooper, Carey Mulligan, Cillian Murphy, Claire Foy, Colman Domingo, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Dominic Sessa, Emily Blunt, Emma Stone, Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, Paul Giamatti, Paul Mescal, Robert Downey Jr., Rosamund Pike, Ryan Gosling, and Sandra Hüller proved that this year’s red carpet brimmed with all sorts of style.
Plus, with fashion-forward presenters like Andrew Scott, Bryce Dallas Howard, Callum Turner, Cate Blanchett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Daryl McCormack, David Beckham, Deepika Padukone, Dua Lipa, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Himesh Patel, Idris Elba, Indira Varma, Keegan-Michael Key, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Lily Collins, Marisa Abela, Rebecca Ferguson, and Taylor Russell all slated to attend, landing a spot on Vanity Fair’s best-dressed list is all the more impressive.

The On The Red Carpet team dug deep into the vaults to uncover the most magical moments and must-see interviews from our red carpet coverage over the years with Hollywood’s biggest stars like Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Murphy, Brad Pitt and many more.
Among the highlights, you’ll see some of today’s biggest stars enjoying their first Oscars experience like Jennifer Lawrence in 2011 who was shocked when On The Red Carpet’s George Pennacchio told her she was the second youngest actress ever nominated for “best actress” for her performance in “Winter’s Bone.”
“Really?” she exclaimed. “For real! Oh my God. I didn’t know that!”
In 2010, Robert Downey Jr, who’s nominated this year for “Oppenheimer” told us big events like the Oscars don’t faze him.
“I really like to be confident when others are nervous and neurotic when everyone else is absolutely calm,” he said.
The past Oscar shows also feature all the glamourous red carpet fashion including the always fashionable Carey Mulligan, a nominee this year for “Maestro” who told George Pennacchio at the 2020 Oscars she doesn’t advise people to copy her signature short hairstyle.
“Oh don’t get the Carey Mulligan haircut,” she said. “I’m trying to grow it out but I keep having to do it for things like this.”

Last night, the 66th annual Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles. While there were many notable beauty looks to discuss, including Taylor Swift’s Schiaparelli Couture dress and Miley Cyrus’s “golden goddess” makeup, we noticed something that would have otherwise slipped subtly under the radar. Two Gen Z celebs walked the pre-show red carpet with classic nude manicures that were created with the exact same drugstore nail polish, and it’s only $12. As far as red carpet beauty moments go, this one couldn’t be easier to re-create. Keep scrolling to see each celeb’s manicure and the nail polish used and learn the exact steps it takes to re-create it.
Yoko Sakakura is the celebrity nail artist who created Rodrigo’s manicure. “Tonight, we decided to switch it up from Olivia’s usual dark and edgy nails,” she said in a press release. “OPI has the prettiest classic shades, and we specifically chose two of my favorite natural tones to capture the same elegant aesthetic as her cream dress adorned in crystals.”. She used OPI’s salon-only gel nail polish, but lucky for us, we can re-create the look at home using the exact same shades of the brand’s traditional nail polish. In other words, we can get the look without a UV lamp. Sakakura started by prepping Rodrigo’s nails, and then she applied a base coat and cured it. For our purposes, we’ll use OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat ($12). Then, it’s time for nail color.
First, she applied a thin coat of the brand’s iconic shade Put It in Neutral, which is a pink-beige.
Then, she applied a thin coat of another iconic shade, Bubble Bath, over top. (This is a classic sheer pink and a Who What Wear team favorite.) Sakakura finished off the simple yet effective combo with a layer of topcoat. Again, she used the salon-only gel version, but we’ll use OPI’s Top Coat ($12). It’s as easy as that.
Sreynin Peng is the celebrity nail artist who created Madison Beer’s manicure. “Keeping it very classic, we went with two popular OPI shades, Do You Take Lei Away? and Put It in Neutral, for Madison’s nail look,” she said in a press release. “Madison has amazing nails, so we kept the same almond shape that she regularly sports, which can really elevate any nail look. This combined with the layering of the shades offered a timeless nail that perfectly complemented Madison’s gown.” Again, OPI’s salon-only gel nail polish was used, but we can re-create the look with the same shades in traditional nail lacquer. Just as before, we’ll start by prepping our nails and using OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat ($12) to set the foundation for color.
Once the base coat was dry, Peng applied a coat of this muted beige onto Beer’s almond-shaped nails.
Then, she added a layer of Put It in Neutral over the top. The final step was to apply a topcoat. Again, we’ll use OPI’s Top Coat ($12). That’s it—four easy steps to re-creating a red carpet manicure.
We love this elegant muted rose.
This soft brown is so pretty.
Essie’s Ballet Slippers is another drugstore icon.
Chanel has some of the best neutral nail polishes.
In case you missed it, the 66th annual Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night. There were so many notable nominees, and Coco Jones was one of them. She was nominated for five Grammys, including Best New Artist, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album. The singer-songwriter ended up winning Best R&B Performance for her song “ICU.”
Before her big win, Jones walked the red carpet wearing a Celia Kritharioti dress and a glowy, fresh-faced makeup look that made us stop and stare. You can imagine how delighted we were to learn that the entire look was created with drugstore products… all priced at $17 or less. Yep, it’s proof that “red carpet” and “affordable” aren’t always mutually exclusive.
Diana Shin was the celebrity makeup artist behind this look. “I created a bronze, glowy glam for Coco Jones at the Grammys using L’Oréal products,” she said in a press release. “I wanted to keep the makeup clean and beautiful to complement her glamorous dress.” Ahead, see and shop all seven of the exact makeup products Shin used.
There were so many hair and makeup looks worth “oohing” and “ah-ing” about on the 66th annual Grammys red carpet, but if we had to choose one that stood out to us the most, it had to be Miley Cyrus’s. Sure, her Maison Margiela dress was stunning, but her big, brushed-back hair was the first thing we noticed (it gave us 80s Jane Fonda vibes in the best way). Then, we looked closer, and we saw her golden, glowing skin. That was what really made us stop and stare…and demand to know exactly which beauty products were used to achieve it.
Luckily, we got the deets. Makeup artist James Kaliardos was the expert behind the look. “I wanted her to glow like a golden goddess, a touchable beauty,” he said in a press release. “Miley and I collaborated on her skin today (and literally on everything) for her fresh-faced look! The end result is just gorgeous with perfected shapes and a tonal palette with golden goddess punctuations.” Keep scrolling to see the exact beauty products he used to create this look, from skin prep to makeup!
The red carpet at tonight’s Grammy Awards was nothing short of spectacular. You had Taylor Swift in Schiaparelli couture, Olivia Rodrigo in vintage Versace, and Dua Lipa in custom Courreges. But you know who we didn’t get to see on the red carpet? The one and only Mariah Carey. As the presenter of the very first award of the evening, Carey made the wise decision to skip the step-and-repeat and head straight backstage.
Presenting Miley Cyrus with her first-ever Grammy award, Carey wowed in a glittering Laura Basci gown with a slit cut up to her hips. As for Cyrus, she changed out of her safety-pin dress into a much more comfortable jumpsuit to accept her award. Scroll down to see all the photos.
It wasn’t exactly the midnight meeting time she requested in her song “Lavender Haze,” but Taylor Swift made it to the Grammys 2024 on Sunday nonetheless.
She stepped out on the awards show’s red carpet at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles in a strapless Schiaparelli couture look, a dramatic full-length white gown with a thigh-high slit and swirling train, topped off with a sculptural bodice. The sartorial drama didn’t stop there: She accessorized with black velvet opera gloves and layered black and white jewels around her neck, including a watch face set to—you guessed it—midnight. Swift wore her hair in a fishtail braid that wrapped from one ear to sweep over her shoulder, and capped it all off with her signature red lip (classic).

The look, in a newsprint-worthy black and white and red all over color palette, isn’t doing anything to discourage rumors that the announcement of Swift’s Reputation (Taylor’s Version) album re-recording can’t be far off. That album’s original cover art used a newspaper motif of Swift’s face, referencing the media attention she’d been getting. No snakes (another repeated motif of her Reputation era) were immediately visible in her Grammys outfit, but that’s the thing about snakes, isn’t it? You can’t always spot them so easily.
“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” he said. “But I think I’ve got practice on Sunday.”
He added: “Unfortunately, I’ve gotta get ready for this big old Super Bowl that we’ve got in a week.”
Of his relationship with Swift, Kelce said, “It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?” He continued: “Hopefully everybody realizes that we’re just two people in a relationship, supporting each other and having fun with it, man. It’s nothing more than that. However much the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it and we enjoy every single bit of it. And sure enough, I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been nothing but just a wonderful year, man.”
The 25-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson graced the Grammys red carpet on Sunday, February 4, in a sleek cutout black gown by Celine. The off-the-shoulder dress featured a large cutout on her left side and a high thigh slit.
Paris accessorized the chic look with a pair of black strappy heels, a dainty black-and-gold chain bracelet and thin hoop earrings. She wore her long hair down in loose waves and parted to the side. Paris showed off her natural beauty with minimal makeup, including bronzed sculpted cheeks, black eyeliner and peachy glossy lips.
There was, however, something noticeably missing from her latest red carpet look. Paris, who normally has over 80 tattoos, had every single one of them covered up for the occasion.
Michael Jackson left more than an extensive musical legacy and his former estate of Neverland Ranch behind when he died at the age of the 50 on June 25, 2009 — the “Billie Jean” singer also had three children. Michael’s first child, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., was born to the musician and nurse Debbie Rowe, […]
Earlier on Sunday, she posted a video to Instagram demonstrating how she transformed her tattooed body into a blank canvas. As she sat in a makeup chair, her makeup team dabbed Cover FX cream foundation all over her tattoos until they magically disappeared.

Paris captioned the post: “#CoverFX meant business when they said total cover cream foundation would have me covered. #tattoomakeup #parisjacksoncoverfx #grammysmakeup.”
Fans took to the comments to express their opinions on Paris’ new look.
“I’m confused, Why cover them?! You look amazing as YOU ❤️,” one social media user commented.
Paris Jackson has a totally unique fashion sense. While she’s had her ups and downs in the spotlight recently, Michael Jackson‘s daughter has aways maintained her stance as a red carpet stand-out with her quirky, boho fashion sense that makes Us excited to see what she’s going to wear next. Whether she’s debuting a new […]

Others came to Paris’ swift defense. “With or without tattoos you remain incredible and the same beautiful soul inside! 💕”
Another added, “It’s just like wearing makeup guys! Chill she isn’t covering up who she is, she is wanting to be more feminine and glam and I’m all about it.”
The 2024 Grammys red carpet is in full swing, and I was wondering which celebrities would have an iconic Grammys moment this year. Unsurprisingly, Miley Cyrus has brought the heat this year, wearing a Marigela naked dress made of safety pins and Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The pop star and actress is channeling her inner Cleopatra, calling back to John Galliano’s 1997 Suzy Sphinx show with major “Walk Like an Egyptian” vibes.
