  • Sex and the City star, Julie Halston, 71, turns heads in latest red carpet outing

    [ad_1]

Actress Julie Halston made a striking appearance on the New York red carpet this week. The Sex and the City star, 71, attended the opening night of Marcel on the Train at Classic Stage Company on Saturday, February 21 2026 in New York City.

The veteran star posed confidently for photographers in a vibrant red tailored jacket paired with wide-leg black trousers. The structured blazer, finished with statement black detailing and a matching scarf-style collar, created a bold silhouette that felt both theatrical and effortlessly chic.

With her platinum blonde hair swept back and her signature bright red lipstick adding a pop of glamour, Julie looked polished and radiant as she smiled for the cameras.

Julie is best known to many fans for her role in Sex and the City, where she appeared as Bitsy Von Muffling – the wealthy and ever-optimistic socialite who memorably married flamboyant cabaret singer Bobby Fine, played by Nathan Lane, in the original HBO series. Her character became a fan favourite thanks to her comedic timing and larger-than-life personality.

She later reprised the role in the reboot series, And Just Like That… bringing Bitsy back into the orbit of Carrie Bradshaw and her friends decades later. The return delighted longtime viewers, offering a nostalgic nod to the show’s original run while introducing the character to a new generation.

While Sex and the City may have brought her mainstream recognition, Julie has long been a fixture of New York’s theatre scene.

A celebrated stage actress, she has earned critical acclaim for her work in both comedic and dramatic roles, particularly within the city’s vibrant off-Broadway community. Her performance style – bold, expressive and sharp-witted – has made her a standout presence for decades.

She dabbled in acting at high school which was when she realized she had a talent for cracking up audiences. “I did all of these skits and I was roller-skating across [the] stage and I was allowed to improv and people were howling with laughter,” she said in an interview with TDF. “I said, ‘This [is] what I want to do’. My parents kept saying, ‘What about teaching? What about speech therapy?’” But acting was where her passion lay.

More recently, Julie has appeared in The Beauty – a sci-fi horror series starring Ashton Kutcher, Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall.

Making its debut with a three-episode premiere, The Beauty, which is based on the comic book of the same name, takes place in a world where ordinary people are transformed into physically perfect beings as a result of a sexually transmitted virus.

Away from the spotlight, Julie was married to Ralph Howard, the legendary radio host who sadly passed away in 2018. She has also been open about her passion for philanthropy, and frequently participates in charity events across New York.

In 2008, along with fellow writer Donna Daley, she co-authored the book Monologues for Show-Offs published by Heinemann Press. In May 2020, along with Jim Caruso, Julie launched a popular online talk show titled Virtual Halston.

At 71, Julie shows no signs of slowing down. Whether commanding the stage or stepping onto a red carpet, she continues to embody the same fearless energy that made her a standout in the world of television and theatre.

  • All of Taylor Swift’s Grammys Red-Carpet Looks Through the Years

    [ad_1]

It’s an honor just to be nominated, but winning at the Grammy Awards isn’t so bad either. Just ask Taylor Swift, she knows. Trophies are forever, but so are red-carpet photos, and looking back on what artists like Swift chose to wear over the years is something of a sartorial time capsule.

Swift, who attended her first Grammy Awards ceremony in 2008 as a 19-year-old nominee for best new artist (she was up against Ledisi, Feist, Paramore, and Amy Winehouse, who ultimately won the category), has won 14 Grammys total. She has been honored with the album-of-the-year award a record-setting four times, with her latest win in 2024, for the album Midnights, breaking the tie she’d previously held in the category with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon.

Though Swift’s latest effort, The Life of a Showgirl, isn’t eligible for the awards this year due to its October release date, she may still be a guest at the ceremony. In celebration of the Grammys 2026, revisit Swift’s Grammys looks, from the ethereal pale purple strapless Sandy Spika gown she wore for her first time at the ceremony in 2008, to her 2025 choice of a sparkly red custom Vivienne Westwood look accessorized with a tiny “T” charm on a chain—perhaps a nod to fiancé Travis Kelcecodesigned with Lorraine Schwartz, coyly adorning her thigh.

Ahead, take a walk down memory lane and see all 12 dresses that Taylor Swift has worn to the Grammy Awards over the years.

  • The Story Behind Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs’s Viral Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner Cosplay

    [ad_1]

This interview has been lightly edited for clarity and length.

Vanity Fair: This was the gag of the night. Whose idea was it?

This was all Meg and Paul, and the most Jimmy and Kayla [Downs and Stalter’s characters in Hacks, respectively] thing ever. My text thread with them, I was just cackling every day because I felt like I was guest starring on Hacks. And I was not the intern, but I was the first assistant, executive assistant to Kayla [laughs].

When did you first hear about this?

Babe, I heard this in December, basically Christmas Eve! This was a holiday miracle. I think I got a gentle inquiry from Meg on the 23rd about this. She and Paul had this idea to replicate this look for the Critics Choice Awards, and I loved it so much. Of course, I was terrified because the timing was psychotic, as this time of the year people don’t want to work on anything anymore.

Still, I started to put some feelers out to see who was in town, since I was staying in Los Angeles and laying very low. This was actually a very complicated endeavor. Even though we live in a movie city, it’s the holidays and there’s the logistical issues, but it was such a fun thing to try to pull off. My main thing is that it had to be intentional, there had to be so much nuance behind it for it to not look janky.

How did you actually pull it off?

I have the utmost respect for costume designers and film people, which I am not. I’m a stylist. I thought of having a designer do this, as I know people who work with leather, but again, it was the timing as people were not in town. I ended up reaching out on Last Looks, which is a platform we use for stylists, tailors, etc. After asking, I got feedback from a costume designer, Erica D. Schwartz. We chatted on the phone, and then put together a proposal. I showed it to Meg and Paul. I also had an idea of having another designer do this in vinyl, which would have been the more abracadabra version of this. Once they saw the ideas they were like, “Let’s go hard and replicate the entire thing.”

Erica then assembled a fantastic team. Everything was built from the ground up. We 3D printed buttons, painted the shoes, I painted Meg’s nails to match, and secured actual Chrome Hearts jewelry from a rental place I work with. The rings and the bracelet were real, the necklace was completely fabricated. Marissa Soto, Heather Vandergriff, and Kristen Carr were the costume and bags makers, and Robin Gurney was our costumes painter. It truly takes a village!

Amazing. How long did it take you to do this?

Well, our first fitting was on Friday right after the holiday to make sure everything fit and that everything was dyed right and figuring out all the details. Meg and I also had to chat about the glam perspective, because it is definitely cosplay, but it still needs to be fab and feel embodied. We had prints out of every single detail of Timmy and Kylie: How they were holding each other, we practiced the poses. Everything!

  • Julia Roberts Loaned Her Legendary 1990 Armani Suit to Her Son

    [ad_1]

“I love those ’90s Armani suits. They are simply the best,” Edebiri, who wore a Louis Vuitton look inspired by the Roberts classic to the 2025 Golden Globes, where she scooped up a statue of her own, said.

Turns out, Roberts is willing to loan the suit outside the bounds of her family, upping the ante for her co-star, saying, “I’m going to bring it to work tomorrow and I want you to wear it.”

The suit isn’t just on offer for friends and family: Roberts herself wore a similar look this week, donning a dark two-piece ensemble for her guest slot on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on October 1.

Elizabeth Stewart, Roberts’ longtime stylist, told Vanity Fair that the star’s latest menswear moment was the result of a collision of nostalgic sartorial and personal influences.

“The suit is from Salon 1884 and they were inspired by Julia’s wardrobe in My Best Friend’s Wedding and I was inspired by Julia in the ’90s, so it was the perfect storm,” she said via email.

Decades later, the dapper silhouette—paired Wednesday with a steely top and skinny floral-embellished necktie—still suits her.

Julia Roberts is seen leaving “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” at Ed Sullivan Theater on October 1, 2025 in New York City.Gilbert Carrasquillo

  • No Gown? For This Artist Attending Venice Film Festival 2025, That’s No Problem—a Bedsheet Will Do

    [ad_1]

“What is genius? It is imagination, intuition, decision, and speed of execution,” according to a line from Mario Monicelli’s film Amici Miei – Atto IIº. And it is precisely this genius, mixed with a healthy dash of creativity, that Elda Calabrese, an Italian artist and doctor of pharmacy, showed this week when she improvised a red carpet look at the Venice Film Festival 2025.

Some attendees spend weeks planning their looks for their big red carpet moment at the festival, and Calabrese, according to a post on her Instagram this week, was one such moviegoer. Calabrese wrote that she had been looking forward to the night for a month, when disaster struck the day before. As she arrived by train, she said, someone snatched her suitcase.

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

In an instant, everything she’d had ready for her look—save for her boots, which she joked about being lucky the thief didn’t take off her feet—was gone. When she reached her hotel room, however, inventiveness took over. Her bedsheet became her improvised gown for the evening.

“I decided to unleash my creativity by dressing myself directly with my bed sheet and even creating a train,” she wrote in her caption, (translated here from Italian). She created a draped neckline, added a belt to cinch her waist, and scribbled “ROBBED” in pen on the look’s makeshift train in a nod to her dilemma.

Instead of having her glam night out foiled by the thief, she wrote, “I was incredulous that I received so many compliments on an outfit that didn’t actually exist.”

Calabrese closed her riches-to-rags (bedsheets) story by directly addressing the mystery perpetrator who snatched her luggage: “Enjoy my clothes and jewelry, but remember, karma is always watching,” she wrote.

  • The Most Head-Turning Accessory at the Venice Film Festival 2025 Is an Artistic Hairdo

    [ad_1]

The Venice Film Festival 2025 has begun, bringing with it a major spike in hair creativity. The fest is just beginning, but already several head-turning hairstyles have been spotted on the red carpet, drawing attention with their originality and detail.

Between long beach waves that nostalgically recall the soon-to-end summer and evergreen sophisticated crops, red carpet hair is getting a creative twist. Undoubtedly, in the crosshairs, Rose Villain‘s two-tone mohawk hair took the headline for the trend on opening night, and Barbara Palvin‘s disheveled braid studded with pearls rewarded close inspection. At first glance it looked like a cascade of curly waves, but was much more complex in reality. Paola Turani sported a two-in-one crop, Shannon Murphy opted for a high-volume chignon, and more stars locked in their place in the creative hair conversation. Take a closer look below at the most creative hairstyles of the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

    Rose Villain’s mohawk

Rose Villain’s hairstyle certainly did not go unnoticed Wednesday, as she recreated the typical mohawk style in her hair by knotting her lengths, section by section, over her head. She gave it a pop of color with a two-tone treatment, sporting light blue tips offset by a dark base. Talk about being on the crest of the wave.

    Barbara Palvin’s disheveled braid

At first glance, they look like classic beach waves, except when you look closer, you discover that the model decided to style the ends of her lengths in a mini disheveled braid, with a relaxed, almost ruffled look. The result was a creative hairstyle complete with pearls applied here and there to give the whole thing a romantic touch.

    Paola Turani’s mix

Paola Turani went all out for a two-in-one style, mixing a “Croydon facelift”—that is, a pulled-back hairstyle capable of lifting the eyes—and a sleek bun divided in two with a sharp center part for perfect symmetry. It all exploded into a cloud of curls that falling softly on the top of her head.

  • Venice Film Festival 2025: See All the Fashion, Outfits & Looks

    [ad_1]

There’s so much more to the Venice Film Festival 2025 than the movies. Yes, the Venice Film Festival, which officially opens on Wednesday, August 27, will see the premieres of Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, among other titles sure to top the box office and awards ballots this year—but it will also see fantastic style.

The A-list will be in Venice to support their starry premieres, with the fashion to match. You’ve seen George Clooney wear a custom suit, but in Venice, he will wear a custom suit while arriving on a boat. All film festivals have their distinct styles of dress: Across the pond, VIPs at the high-altitude Telluride Film Festival will be digging out their outdoor gear and sunglasses to glad-hand, and the Toronto International Film Festival will have its own site-specific micro-trends next month, but the fashion at Venice is traditionally all about the drama.

Ahead, take a leisurely scroll through all the looks at this year’s Venice Film Festival to see who made a splash with their ensembles. For more from the Venice Film Festival 2025, follow our live blog here.

Emily Blunt’s Stylist Explains Her Dress’s Floating Shoulders at the Oscars 2024

    [ad_1]

There’s no question that, fashion-wise, clavicles were the stars of the show on the Oscars 2024 red carpet on Sunday, where strapless silhouettes ruled the night. One of the most talked-about ensembles of the night also didn’t benefit from the support of straps, because they were floating inches above best supporting actress nominee Emily Blunt’s shoulders.

Blunt may not have won her category, but she made our best-dressed list of the night for her beaded champagne-color Schiaparelli gown with floating shoulders and an eye-catching midsection embellishment, a passel of Tiffany & Co. platinum necklaces with more than 100 carats of diamonds, and 6-carat diamond earrings. Stylist Jessica Paster, who has worked with Blunt for 18 years, told Vanity Fair that the final gown decision was made from three contenders after a last try-on on Sunday morning.

“I think when you decide what you want to wear, I think something happens,” she said. “It depends on your mood. One was colorful, one was diaphanous, one was white, and there was this little girl.”

And, as she called the embellishment on the dress, which she said the design house has now renamed “The Emily” in Blunt’s honor, “the little underwear.” She knew this one would be talked about, and that’s fine with her.

    By Kevin Mazur/Getty Images.

“Sometimes we don’t play it safe. At this point of years of being with Emily, we can go have fun with fashion,” she said. “Did I know that people were going to talk about the shoulder? Absolutely. Do I care what anybody else has to say? Absolutely not. Me? I think that people that know fashion, like fashion, like things that are interesting, were going to like it and I know the people that like some things that are very classic were not going to like it. At the end of the day, she looked absolutely beautiful. It was such a beautiful dress.”

As for that much-talked-about floating shoulder element, Paster predicts that we’ll be seeing more of it in the future. She did admit, however, that she was shocked to see another gravity-defying shoulder strap detail on Blunt’s Oppenheimer co-star Florence Pugh’s own silver Del Core look on the carpet.

“I thought [Blunt] was gonna be the first one to wear it … and then I saw that the beautiful Florence Pugh also had a very similar shoulder,” she said.

The 34-year-old actress graced the red carpet on Sunday, March 10, wearing “26” on her nails. The number signifies that she is the 26th Black woman to ever be nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars.

Brooks wore the sentimentally detailed nails with a strapless black Dolce and Gabbana gown that featured a corset-like top, a deep thigh slit and a long train that splayed out to the side.

She wore her shoulder-length hair down and parted to the side. For glam, she sported black winged eyeliner, long lashes and dewy foundation.

Talk about a red carpet debut: Vanessa Hudgens snuck a surprise plus-one into the Oscars 2024, where she sported a black long-sleeved Vera Wang Couture dress accessorized with Chopard jewelry—and a very visible baby bump. Hudgens confirmed that she and husband Cole Tucker are expecting their first child together.

Hudgens is co-hosting the Academy’s official pre-show red carpet coverage this year alongside Julianne Hough. Her reveal comes about three months after she and Tucker, a professional baseball player who is signed to the Seattle Mariners organization and is currently playing with the Albuquerque Isotopes, got married in Tulum, Mexico in December 2023. The two began dating in 2020.

    By Gilbert Flores/Variety/Getty Images.

Hudgens, 35, spoke on the podcast She Pivots earlier this week about pregnancy rumors and discussion of her body, calling out commentary around photos of her on a bachelorette getaway with pals in October 2023.

“I literally just had a run-in with the public taking control over their opinion of me in a way that was disrespectful,” she said on the pod. “And I was like, ‘That is so rude.’ I’m sorry I don’t wear Spanx every day and, like, am a real woman and have a real body.”

Paris Jackson is bringing a timeless look to the 2024 Grammys.

The 25-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson graced the Grammys red carpet on Sunday, February 4, in a sleek cutout black gown by Celine. The off-the-shoulder dress featured a large cutout on her left side and a high thigh slit.

Paris accessorized the chic look with a pair of black strappy heels, a dainty black-and-gold chain bracelet and thin hoop earrings. She wore her long hair down in loose waves and parted to the side. Paris showed off her natural beauty with minimal makeup, including bronzed sculpted cheeks, black eyeliner and peachy glossy lips.

There was, however, something noticeably missing from her latest red carpet look. Paris, who normally has over 80 tattoos, had every single one of them covered up for the occasion.

  • Sofia Richie Grainge’s Baby Bump Makes Red Carpet Debut at Pre-Grammys 2024 Party

Sofia Richie Grainge’s Baby Bump Makes Red Carpet Debut at Pre-Grammys 2024 Party

    [ad_1]

Sofia Richie Grainge has taken her popular get ready with me videos to the next level: Think a makeup tutorial is exciting? How about following a months-long journey to parenthood, like the one Richie Grainge is on after she revealed to Vogue last week that she and husband Elliot Grainge are expecting a baby girl.

The model gave her growing baby bump its red carpet debut Thursday night at the Warner Music Group pre-Grammys 2024 party at Los Angeles’ Citizen News. She wore a black off-the-shoulder top, unbuttoned slightly at the bottom, black pants, and black slingback heels. She accessorized her monochrome look with David Yurman jewelry (Richie Grainge is an ambassador for the brand) and a black clutch purse.

Richie Grainge and Grainge got married on the French Riviera in April 2023 in one of the most talked-about celebrations of the year, spurring an obsession with the “quiet luxury” look that many say Richie Grainge embodies. (For the record, she says the term “sounds really nice, so I’m not knocking it, but [my stylist] Liat Baruch and I started working together properly about three and a half years ago, and when we met, our word was ‘timeless.’”) Richie Grainge walked down the aisle in custom-designed Chanel, one of three looks the house created for her that she wore during her wedding festivities.

Richie Grainge, 25, told Vogue that she and Grainge, 30, had been “casually trying” to get pregnant since their wedding, and that she confirmed this pregnancy “very, very early.”

“I was about four weeks pregnant. I was on a trip to Milan for Fashion Week, and I was going to the Prada show. I was doing a really quick 24-hour turnaround, and I felt terrible but didn’t think much of it. I thought it was jet lag,” she said. Knowing that she was going out with friends the next night and that her period was a few days late, she took a cheap test to be safe. When she saw a line indicating a positive, she sent Grainge to the store for more tests.

“He was so excited,” she said of her husband. “We spoke the whole way on the phone. And when he came home, he’s such a sweet guy he always wants to protect my emotions and expectations, so he kind of sat me down and said, ‘If these are negative, don’t be upset. Our moment will come.’ When we turned over all three tests at the same time they were all positive. He was so excited, and we both cried. It was crazy and overwhelming and so hard not to scream it from the rooftops. But knowing I was so early, I was so protective—even with my friends.”

The baby girl is due sometime in late May or June, according to Richie Grainge’s sign reveal (it’s a Gemini! Oh, and a girl.), and now that the world knows she’s on her way, Richie Grainge said she’s ready to unleash her take on pregnancy fashion instead of trying to conceal her growing bump.

“Now that we’re announcing it, I have so many ideas,” she said. “I’m not really tapping into maternitywear at all, if anything, I’m just sizing up. I’m also not buying an entirely new wardrobe for this pregnancy. I’ve bought a few pairs of pants in bigger sizes, but I’m wearing my same jackets, and sweaters, and trenches—I’m about to have some fun with it now that I can spread my wings and fly.”

As for the closet staples she’s saved for her sure-to-be well-dressed daughter?

“I have a lot of little bags to pass down,” Richie Grainge said. “I have a lot in mind.”

When styled right, a person’s hair can be their greatest accessory.

Abbott Elementary actor Chris Perfetti attended the 2023 Emmys in Los Angeles on Monday, January 15, looking dapper in a navy blue double breasted suit and artfully gelled hair.

The suit in question was designed by BMC Studio and featured two front pockets, a white button-down shirt with black buttons and a black bow tie. Perfetti, 35, accessorized the classic look with a pair of black patent leather Louboutin dress shoes and a silver diamond-shaped Neil Lane brooch.

Arguably the most intriguing part about Perfetti’s look was not his clothing, but his hair. The actor wore his brown locks parted to the side and meticulously gelled into a swooping zigzag shape on the right side of his head.

Taylor Swift just can’t stop making history. At the 2024 Golden Globes (Taylor’s Version), the “Anti-Hero” singer walked the carpet in a glittering green Gucci gown that is giving some serious Reputation vibes.

Swift paired the sequined column dress with matching metallic green stilettos for a head-to-toe lime look. The overall effect is kind of familiar, no? A bit like the snake emoji which has been widely associated with Swift’s 2017 album Reputation? Do you think she’s trying to tell us something?!

Swift kept her glam soft, with a natural mauve lip and her long hair styled in loose barrel curls. She added even more sparkle with DeBeers drop earrings and a several silver rings.

For the first time in five Golden Globe nominations, Swift was not nominated for Best Original Song. This time, she was nominated for her Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film in the brand new category of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, which, per Collider, honors the highest grossing films of the year. She is up against Barbie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Oppenheimer, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Was this category invented solely to recognise the record-smashing impact of Taylor Swift and her Eras Tour film? Who’s to say.
