  • Julia Roberts Loaned Her Legendary 1990 Armani Suit to Her Son

    [ad_1]

“I love those ’90s Armani suits. They are simply the best,” Edebiri, who wore a Louis Vuitton look inspired by the Roberts classic to the 2025 Golden Globes, where she scooped up a statue of her own, said.

Turns out, Roberts is willing to loan the suit outside the bounds of her family, upping the ante for her co-star, saying, “I’m going to bring it to work tomorrow and I want you to wear it.”

The suit isn’t just on offer for friends and family: Roberts herself wore a similar look this week, donning a dark two-piece ensemble for her guest slot on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on October 1.

Elizabeth Stewart, Roberts’ longtime stylist, told Vanity Fair that the star’s latest menswear moment was the result of a collision of nostalgic sartorial and personal influences.

“The suit is from Salon 1884 and they were inspired by Julia’s wardrobe in My Best Friend’s Wedding and I was inspired by Julia in the ’90s, so it was the perfect storm,” she said via email.

Decades later, the dapper silhouette—paired Wednesday with a steely top and skinny floral-embellished necktie—still suits her.

  • Hollywood Channels Capote’s Swans on the SAG Awards 2024 Red Carpet

Hollywood Channels Capote’s Swans on the SAG Awards 2024 Red Carpet

    [ad_1]

You would be forgiven if you mistook the SAG Awards 2024 red carpet for New York’s La Côte Basque in 1965. Stars channeled the elegant midcentury glamour of the ‘60s and early ‘70s currently being showcased on Feud: Capote vs The Swans, all sweeping silhouettes, off-the-shoulder gowns, and absolutely impeccably draped details. The look ruled the red carpet at Los Angeles’s Shrine Auditorium Saturday night as the Screen Actors Guild gathered to salute and celebrate the year’s best performances in film and television.

Writer Truman Capote famously surrounded himself with his so-called “swans” in post-World War II New York City, the high society women like Babe Paley, Slim Keith, and Lee Radziwill who commanded as much social influence as they did money. No matter whether they were enjoying a martini at lunch or an evening glass of champagne, the swans looked put-together and, above all, expensive—and today’s biggest stars from Maestro’s Carey Mulligan, swathed in champagne-gold Armani, to The Morning Show’s Greta Lee in an intricate floral cutout gown by The Row, paired with elbow-length black leather gloves, brought the period’s elegance to Saturday’s awards ceremony.

So grab your favorite strand of classic pearls, practice your very best mid-Atlantic accent, and take a look at the SAG Awards 2024’s lake of celebrity swans, including Taraji P. Henson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, America Ferrera, and more. For even more SAG Awards red carpet fashion, take a look at Vanity Fair’s picks for the night’s best-dressed stars, and pore over our gallery of every look from the evening’s red carpet.

  • Taylor Swift Arrives at the Grammys 2024

Taylor Swift Arrives at the Grammys 2024

    [ad_1]

It wasn’t exactly the midnight meeting time she requested in her song “Lavender Haze,” but Taylor Swift made it to the Grammys 2024 on Sunday nonetheless.

She stepped out on the awards show’s red carpet at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles in a strapless Schiaparelli couture look, a dramatic full-length white gown with a thigh-high slit and swirling train, topped off with a sculptural bodice. The sartorial drama didn’t stop there: She accessorized with black velvet opera gloves and layered black and white jewels around her neck, including a watch face set to—you guessed it—midnight. Swift wore her hair in a fishtail braid that wrapped from one ear to sweep over her shoulder, and capped it all off with her signature red lip (classic).

The look, in a newsprint-worthy black and white and red all over color palette, isn’t doing anything to discourage rumors that the announcement of Swift’s Reputation (Taylor’s Version) album re-recording can’t be far off. That album’s original cover art used a newspaper motif of Swift’s face, referencing the media attention she’d been getting. No snakes (another repeated motif of her Reputation era) were immediately visible in her Grammys outfit, but that’s the thing about snakes, isn’t it? You can’t always spot them so easily.

Though there was early speculation that she and boyfriend Travis Kelce—the Super Bowl–bound tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs—might use the ceremony to make their red-carpet debut as a couple, the world continues to wait. In an interview on Wednesday ahead of the ceremony, Kelce confirmed that he would not be in attendance, as he’d instead be preparing for the upcoming Super Bowl with his team.

“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” he said. “But I think I’ve got practice on Sunday.”

He added: “Unfortunately, I’ve gotta get ready for this big old Super Bowl that we’ve got in a week.”

Of his relationship with Swift, Kelce said, “It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?” He continued: “Hopefully everybody realizes that we’re just two people in a relationship, supporting each other and having fun with it, man. It’s nothing more than that. However much the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it and we enjoy every single bit of it. And sure enough, I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It’s been nothing but just a wonderful year, man.”

  • Velvet Brings Out the Softer Side of Fashion on Emmys 2024 Red Carpet

Velvet Brings Out the Softer Side of Fashion on Emmys 2024 Red Carpet

    [ad_1]

Some stars made their fashion statement on the Emmys 2024 red carpet with bold color choices, like the many who opted for fiery red ensembles at Monday’s awards show, while others leaned into texture to make their mark.

Velvet emerged as a major fashion trend at the Emmys 2024, honoring the best in television from the 2023 season after months of delays. The fabric lends dimension and richness to any look, and Emmy attendees across genres took advantage, including many men adding it as an accent to their looks, not to be left out of the fun. Ted Lasso’s Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, and Cristo Fernández were all team velvet, with Sudeikis and Fernández rocking velvet blazers alongside Temple’s column skirt. Christina Applegate made an emotional appearance presenting the night’s first award while wearing a red velvet gown, and The White Lotus’s Meghann Fahy wowed in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé red silk and velvet gown of her own. Christina Ricci opted for classic black and a plunging neckline for her dress, and Elizabeth Debicki put her plunge in the back, contrasting the high neckline of her deep maroon gown with a dramatic rearview. First-time attendee Ronald Gladden, the only nonactor on the surreal Jury Duty, was also found guilty of rocking a stylish velvet look with his full suit.

Ahead, take a look at all of our favorite velvet looks from the Emmys 2024. And for more from the carpet, see all the looks here and our best-dressed list here.
