  • Suriya’s fantasy action film Karuppu to release in February 2026? Find out

    Suriya is next set to appear in the lead role in the action fantasy film Karuppu, directed by RJB (RJ Balaji). As the film has been delayed since 2025, it now appears that it is finally set to get a release date this year.

    Is Suriya’s Karuppu set to release in February 2026?

    According to a report by Studio Flicks, the makers of Karuppu are planning to release the film in February 2026. Reportedly, the Retro actor is keen on releasing the film soon to ensure that his upcoming projects are spaced out smoothly.

    It is also being reported that the actor’s film, tentatively titled Suriya46 and directed by Venky Atluri, is likely to release in May 2026, while his cop action comedy Suriya47 is eyeing an Ayudha Pooja release.

    However, as of now, the makers have not made any official confirmation regarding Karuppu’s release date.

    Karuppu is said to follow the story of a lawyer who becomes possessed by a deity to fight against the injustice faced by certain sections of society. Directed by RJB (RJ Balaji), the film was initially slated for a Diwali release last year. However, due to pending post-production work, it was postponed without a confirmed release date.

    Apart from Suriya, the movie also stars Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, Yogi Babu, and several others in key roles. Additionally, RJB himself will be making a cameo appearance.

    Suriya’s upcoming films

    Looking ahead, Suriya will follow up his slate of releases with the tentatively titled Suriya46, directed by Venky Atluri. The upcoming project is touted to be an emotionally driven drama, with Mamitha Baiju and Raveena Tandon as the female leads. As per speculation, Dulquer Salmaan is likely to make a cameo appearance in the film.

    Moreover, Suriya has also begun work on his cop action comedy, tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Aavesham fame Jithu Madhavan, the film will feature Nazriya Nazim Fahadh as the female lead, with Naslen of Lokah fame playing a pivotal role.

    While more details about the project are yet to be revealed, the film will be bankrolled by Suriya himself under the banner of Zhagaram Studios. Additionally, it will mark the Tamil debut of music composer Sushin Shyam. The actor is also said to have recently wrapped up the promo shoot for the film in Kochi.

    Maa Vande, an upcoming multilingual film based on the life of PM Narendra Modi, was officially announced to coincide with his birthday on September 17. Starring Unni Mukundan, the film is directed by Kranthi Kumar Ch and produced by Veer Reddy under Silver Cast Creations. The biographical drama is presently in pre-production.

    While Unni Mukundan is reprising Narendra Modi, we have learnt that Raveena Tandon has been finalized to play Modi’s mother late Heeraben. Apparently, when the actress was approached to play the part, she was so moved by the principles of Heeraben. The strength, depth and the arc of the layered character resonated with Raveena. The actress reportedly green lit the character 45 minutes into the narration. Heeraben’s life has been committed to values, and she has been like a teacher to Modi. On several occasions earlier, Modi spoke highly of her. Heeraben’s early struggle – losing her mother early in her childhood – how she held the family together with calm and fortitude, and her strong principles which stood the test of time have inspired Raveena to take on the challenging character.

    Heeraben was a source of inspiration and strength for Modi. The principles by which she raised him shaped his personality. And Raveena Tandon was fascinated at this element and wanted to be part of the story,” informs a source from the unit. The actress would soon commence preparation for her role. She will undergo a complete makeover for the character. The film is being mounted on a massive scale with cutting-edge VFX technology

    While talking to NDTV, Tandon revealed her daughter was surprised when the paps spotted her at the salon. The actress shared, “So Rasha said, ‘Mumma, you know they found me in a salon. How did they know I was there? I said the car number. Our car numbers are the same and they are always around on bikes. So, the minute they see the car, they start following.” On hearing this, the Karmma Calling actress told her, “I said, ‘It’s fine, just be yourself. Don’t have to change for anyone.”

    Govinda stepped into the Hindi film industry with the film Ilzaam in 1986. In 1991, debutant Raveena Tandon impressed critics and cinephiles alike with her power-packed performance in the film Patthar Ke Phool. While they were set on their respective acting journeys, the actors came up with commercially successful films when they were paired together in Dulhe Raja, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Aunty No. 1, among others.

    Raveena Tandon says Govinda is her BFF

    According to ANI, when the actress was asked about the one Bollywood star she shares a special bond with, Raveena Tandon said that it’s her co-star Govinda. She said, “I’ve got a bunch of amazing friends in the industry, from the enchanting Madhuri Dixit to the ever-graceful Shilpa Shetty, and the unforgettable Sridevi. But if I had to pick one ride-or-die, it would have to be the one and only Govinda, lovingly known as Chi Chi. We’ve always shared a deep love for music and dancing. My comic timing improved significantly because of Govinda.”

    The actress further shared that despite having a special bond with Govinda, they are also very competitive and have healthy competition while shooting together.

    Sharing her experience of filming popular songs like Kisi Disco Mein Jaaye and Akhiyon Se Goli Maare, the Laadla actress said, “Even in our dance collaborations, we were lightning fast. We completed ‘Kahi Disco Main Jaye’ in just one and a half days and ‘Akhiyon Se Goli Maare’ in a single day. We’d start shooting early in the morning at 9:30-10:00 am and wrap up by 6:00 pm. We used to shoot the Antara and Mukhda simultaneously. And oh, the friendly rivalry – if he aced a shot, I had to give my best. Our chemistry was pure magic, fueled by our energy and a sprinkle of healthy competition.”

    Raveena Tandon’s work front

    With a career spanning more than three decades, Raveena has seen success and failure in equal measures. The actress was last seen in the 2022 film K.G.F: Chapter 2 and the suspense thriller film One Friday Night in 2023. By the end of this month, her upcoming romantic comedy film Ghudchadi, also starring Sanjay Dutt, is set to release.
