    My obsession with the Adidas Samba first began in fifth grade. One of my classmates wore the OG classic in black nearly every day, teamed with a pair of Soffe shorts that were rolled precisely three times at the waist. She always beat the boys at soccer during recess. I admired her fashion sense from a young age, and I think that’s because she wore her outfits with confidence and exuded a certain toughness — especially in her Sambas. It’s possible she was even my very first style crush. Today, retro sneakers are having a resurgence, and that certainly doesn’t exclude the iconic Samba, a low-top with three recognizable stripes, the Trefoil-embossed logo at the heel, and a gum rubber outsole. It was, in fact, created as a versatile soccer shoe by the brand in 1950.

    Particularly impressed by the quirkiness of Hadid’s outfit and the bold brilliance of Rihanna’s, I aimed to settle on the answer to an age-old query: how to wear Adidas Sambas.

    The celebrity support of the Samba is at an all-time high, with models, Hollywood A-listers, and Rihanna (she deserves her own category, right?) reinventing the wheel when it comes to outfits with a tomboy twist. While pregnant with her first son, RZA, in April 2022, Rihanna updated her maternity wardrobe with a pair of white Samba shoes that offset a navy-blue Alaïa ribbed set. They were played up by pearls and the accents on her Dior Saddle Bag, and complemented by an LAFD trucker hat. That might have been the street style look to spark the cyclical trend — Bella Hadid wore her Sambas in Paris around the same time, taking a dark-academia approach. And Katie Holmes and Hailey Bieber rocked them with denim this past summer, stepping out in New York and LA, respectively.

    Seeing as school is back in session — and that’s where my love for Sambas began — it felt like the right time to pick up the sneakers (which start at $90), and take them for a spin. Maybe it’s because the shoes represent my early passion for admiring someone else’s style, but I promptly schemed to re-create the celebrity outfits I’d found. Particularly impressed by the quirkiness of Hadid’s outfit and the bold brilliance of Rihanna’s, I aimed to settle on the answer to an age-old query: how to wear Adidas Sambas.

    As it turns out, you don’t have to harbor millions of Instagram followers to wear the shoe in precisely the same way Rihanna, Hadid, Bieber, and Holmes did. All four outfits work for achieving athletic appeal like a fashion girl — it just depends how relaxed, or, conversely, how extra you want to stray.     I have a soft spot for crisp white sneakers. The only issue? I am a bit on the clumsy side and attract messes like a magnet. Plus, I’ll admit that I’m not most diligent when it comes to spot cleaning or taking preventative measures; it’s just not my strong suit. Consequently, keeping my favorite sneakers looking good has been quite a challenge for me. However, a recent new find has completely transformed my relationship with white sneakers. Enter the Fullup Infinity Cloud White Knit Sneakers ($230). They’re sustainable, machine-washable (!) and, in my opinion, the only white sneaker anyone could ever really need. Ahead, I dive deeper into what makes them great and why they’re a worthwhile investment.

    What I love about these sneakers might be obvious, but it can’t be overstated: they’re so easy to clean. I wore them to the Minnesota State Fair recently, and all of my friends kept noting how wearing them there (amid the dirt, spilled food and beverages, etc.) was brave. Little did they know that these sneakers were specifically crafted to be machine-washable. After a long day at the event, I got home, removed the insole, threw them in the wash, and left them outside to dry. The result was pristine-looking white sneakers. I can’t stress enough that they looked as good as the first day I got them. Here’s a GIF for reference:

    These sneakers also deliver exceptional comfort and versatility. Personally, I’m drawn to the sophisticated aesthetic of their knit upper, which gives their overall design an elevated touch. Their minimalist design also complements just about every piece of clothing I have, from casual activewear to chic dresses. Plus, the flexibility of the knit upper ensures that your feet won’t feel confined, which is especially nice for individuals like me with wider feet.

    Another thing I love about them — and the brand as a whole — is that sustainability is a top priority. Per its website, Fullup says the knitted part of the sneaker is made of rPET, or certified recycled polyester spun from discarded plastic water bottles. (Ten plastic bottles go into every pair of Fullup trainers.) They also use water-based glue to connect the upper to the sole, which is a safer alternative for the environment than regular shoe adhesive. What’s more, the brand says they use an eco-friendly dyeing method that requires nearly 50 percent less water than conventional techniques and make shoes in small batches to prevent overproduction.

    What’s Worth Noting About the Fullup Infinity Cloud White Knit Sneaker

    It’s important to note that these sneakers are not a small investment. I understand their price point isn’t attainable for all, but they’re remarkably cleanable. They can save you money in the long run by sparing you the need to replace your white sneakers frequently. In my personal experience, having owned them for just a month and a half, I’ve already given them three thorough washes, and they appear as pristine as the day I first got them. So, despite the steep upfront cost, their longevity could justify the investment over time.

    Another thing to consider is that they come in colored-trim versions as well; three, to be exact. You can opt for the sage-trim style ($230), sand ($230), or ink ($230). They cost the same as the all-white version but add an eye-catching pop if you err toward color.

    And finally, these sneakers are both breathable and water-resistant. Their single-layer knit upper promotes natural ventilation, “making socks optional,” according to the brand. While I’m a socks-and-sneakers girl through and through, some shoppers have embraced the sockless approach, noting that they’re comfy both with and without them.

    The obvious answer is that I love how ridiculously cozy and comforting this robe feels while on — it’s genuinely the softest thing in my entire apartment, and oftentimes even feels warmer than some of my larger blankets. The style is made from a plush polyester microfiber material that’s irresistibly cozy and somehow manages to relax my body the moment I put it on; literally any tensions within my body become relieved. But the deeper, much more layered answer, is that I appreciate just how much this robe has managed to elevate my post-shower routine. While the style isn’t strictly reserved for bathroom wear, it has been a great addition to my own evening bathroom regimen, particularly when I step out of the shower. I’ll usually dry off my body with one of my normal cotton towels and then immediately slip into this robe for all of my post-shower tasks — which involves working through my nightly skin-care routine, brushing my hair, applying lotion on my body, and (depending on my breakfast or dinner schedule) brushing my teeth, too. Usually these tasks feel more like chores rather than things to genuinely get excited about. However, it’s spacious enough to fit a six-inch tablet, and all your everyday essentials, whether it’s keys, wallet, phone, power bank, mini sunscreens, hand sanitizer, lip balms, pill box, and even a small water bottle. The interior has one large compartment in the middle and two smaller ones, including a button pocket for keeping things secure. Plus, there’s also a key leash. The back of the bag also has an exterior pocket, where I like to store my Metrocards for easy access.

    What makes the Senreve Cadence Crossbody special is its adjustable strap construction. You can convert this from a crossbody to a shoulder bag by simply adjusting the leather strap to the desired length you need. During the daytime or more casual events, I like to wear it as a crossbody so I can be hands-free. I also opt for crossbody wear, when I’m wearing a midi or maxi dress. When I have to head to dinner or want to dress it up, I wear it as a shoulder bag or on the crutch of my arm. No matter how you wear the bag, the excess strap can be secured to the bag with the belt loops surrounding the sides and bottom of the bag, maintaining the clean-lined, refined look. You can even remove the leather strap completely and add on a chain strap for a more glam look, or use the leather strap as a belt.

    What’s Worth Noting About the Senreve Cadence Crossbody:

    There’s so much to love about Senreve’s Cadence Crossbody there are barely any drawbacks. But, it’s worth noting that this handbag has a sturdy, stiff construction, so it will hold its shape and stand on its own, but it’s not as flexible or malleable as softer leather handbags. It might be a little difficult to open up the interior compartments and the exterior back pocket, especially when you first get the bag. Likewise, adjusting the crossbody strap may take some more effort, specifically when you’re removing it from the hardware and sliding the excess into the belt loops. You’ll need to press down with some force to get the strap to be secure. Living in the city, I truly appreciate the Crescent clasp for its secure closure, however, it does take a little more effort to close the bag back after it’s been opened.

    These shoes are obviously very stylish, but it’s the comfortable design that I really can’t get over. Mary Janes definitely don’t have a reputation for being the most comfortable of shoes; for context, I literally used to slip Band-Aids into my crossbody bag whenever I would wear other versions of the silhouette, as I knew that after only a few hours of wearing them, the backs of my ankles would be ridden with sores and irritated skin. But these Vagabond Mary Janes are designed differently to ensure that you can get maximum use out of the style without having to worry about scraping up your feet in the process.

    The shoe’s thick block heel provides a base for my foot that’s firm and sturdy, but not so much so that they feel like a burden to walk around in. Thanks to its smooth design, the metal end is completely covered, which prevents it from poking or digging any deeper into the skin behind your ear. Best of all, the nap earrings are made from a medical-grade, premium metal material that won’t tarnish, so you can easily wear them while you’re sleeping or showering without having to worry about them showing too much wear over time.

    I also appreciate that the earrings are available to shop in a wide array of styles and metals, so truly anyone can enjoy the benefits of the accessory — regardless of your personal style or metal preferences.     What’s Worth Noting

    These earrings are incredibly delicate — as in, they’re undoubtedly the most delicate piece of jewelry I’ve ever owned. Given their comfortable and lightweight nature, you could argue that this is to be expected — I mean, how else are you supposed to design earrings that can be comfortably worn while you’re sleeping, showering, or even wearing headphones (the true test, in my opinion). While I anticipated they’d be smaller, I had no idea just how tiny these earrings would actually be. Because they’re so miniscule, I’ve actually had trouble removing the back-clasp on the accessory, as the earrings are just too tiny to hold properly — and with acrylic nails, it’s even trickier. If you’re someone who prefers sporting longer nails (whether they’re real or acrylic), I’d recommend avoiding these earrings as there’s just no way to get a good enough grip on the accessory since they’re so tiny. Additionally, you’ll want to store them in a jewelry box or somewhere you won’t lose them — the few times I dropped them or let them out of my sight, I had to literally crawl across the floor in order to retrieve them because they’re so delicate and difficult to spot.

    Another thing noted by reviewers is that the metal bar of the earring is much shorter compared to other styles. While I didn’t personally find this to be a problem with my own ear, other shoppers have acknowledged their struggles with getting the earring all the way through their piercing, likely because their ear lobe is on the thicker side. I did notice that the nap earrings went into the first piercing on my lower ear lobe more seamlessly (likely because it’s the softest and thinnest portion of my ear), whereas inserting the earrings into my second and third piercings required a bit more wiggling to achieve the perfect fit. Obviously, there’s no way to guarantee they’ll be the right size before you buy them, but if you’re someone with thicker ear lobes, it’s worth considering if these nap earrings would really be the right fit for you based off of reviews.

    The Federal Trade Commission has proposed a new rule that would penalize businesses for using deceptive marketing tactics such as generating fake reviews, hiding honest negative reviews, and paying for positive reviews — all of which deceive consumers and damage honest businesses, the agency said on Friday.

    In the notice of proposed rulemaking, the FTC also noted the widespread adoption of generative AI and its subsequent potential to make it easier for bad actors to generate fake reviews.

    “Our proposed rule on fake reviews shows that we’re using all available means to attack deceptive advertising in the digital age,” said Samuel Levine, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, in a statement. “The rule would trigger civil penalties for violators and should help level the playing field for honest companies.”

    The proposed rule would prohibit and penalize a range of “clearly deceptive practices,” including the sale or acquisition of fake consumer reviews and testimonials, purchasing positive or negative reviews, company-controlled review websites, suppression of negative reviews, and buying fake followers or views to “misrepresent importance” for commercial gain.

    The rule aims to filter out false and misleading testimonials that give some businesses an unfair advantage, as the positive reviews may attract consumers but not actually reflect the customer base or level of satisfaction.

    According to Public Interest Research Group, as much as 30-40% of online reviews are fake, per The Washington Post. Under the proposed rule, those fake reviews would not only be banned but also carry a potentially hefty fine.

    “Although the FTC has taken strong enforcement action in this area recently, case-by-case enforcement without civil penalty authority might not be enough to deter clearly deceptive review and testimonial practices,” the agency said in the release.

    The FTC is accepting public comments on the proposed rule for 60 days, after which it will review and then issue a final ruling.

Though you may be aware of your reputational standing in the real world and the legal community that sees your work, crafting a positive image for your practice takes a different type of awareness — and approach. While this may take an upfront investment, it’s well worth the time and money to ensure new clients can find your firm and entrust their case and legal needs to your team.

    As a digital marketing and online reputation expert, I’m well aware of the power an online reputation can have on an attorney’s reach, revenue and long-term growth. To that end, I’d like to share a few best practices for managing law firm reviews and protecting your firm’s reputation. These crucial behaviors can help you control the online narrative while focusing on the work that truly matters.

    Determine where you stand

    Before making any changes to your online reputation, you need to determine where your law firm currently stands on the web. It helps to picture yourself as the average client in need of what you offer and create a list of search terms or keywords relevant to what they need and to your firm. It can help to start your search in incognito mode to ensure your previous search history doesn’t influence your results.

    Begin compiling your results into a spreadsheet, pulling from the wide range of review sites as well as any third-party blogs, articles, profiles and other online elements (good, bad and neutral) you may find. This database will help paint a bigger picture of your online reputation and what platforms or areas may need more attention.

    Note repeat issues

    As you compile your results, take note of issues that crop up repeatedly. While some law firm reviews may be from difficult clients whose experience does not accurately represent your firm or your team, certain repeat problems can shine a light on issues that can be easily addressed and shored up as needed.

Updating your website with easy-to-find links directing clients to feedback surveys can also be an effective way to solicit positive feedback. These outlets can provide quotes you can use in both organic and paid marketing campaigns.

    Branch out to new platforms

    A major step in managing your online reputation is branching out to new digital platforms. If your firm isn’t active on social media, consider creating accounts and posting regularly. You don’t need to jump on every new app. Instead, focus on the platforms that make sense for your law firm, such as LinkedIn. There, you’re better equipped to control the narrative and present positive messaging.

    It can also help to work with a public relations expert with the focus, skillset and media relationships to incorporate mentions of your law firm’s successes into high-authority online news outlets, local blogs and other high-traffic venues. Even short, relevant blog posts on your own website can help promote your practice and increase client trust in your firm. Over time, expanding to social media and other online outlets can boost your placement in search engine results while promoting your law firm where it generates the best results.
