  • Intex’s Inflatable Hot Tub Offers Bubbles on a Budget

Intex’s Inflatable Hot Tub Offers Bubbles on a Budget

    [ad_1]

One of my greatest disappointments of adulthood is learning just how much hassle is attached to recreation. Everyone loves lounging on the deck of their buddy’s boat on a sunny summer day, but the poor schmuck who owns that boat is currently lubricating his battery terminals and waxing the gel coat. Everybody loves the family cabin until the gutters need to be cleaned. And everyone loves relaxing in an inflatable backyard hot tub until the power bill arrives or a wind storm knocks a big branch off the tree above it.

I’ve enjoyed some wonderful hours in the bubbles of Intex’s PureSpa inflatable hot tub during my testing period, which started last December and ran five months until Missouri’s summer heat arrived. If you’re someone who’s considering a backyard inflatable hot tub, I can promise some great hours looking up at the night sky as the steam lifts your spirits on a chilly Tuesday night. But I also need to warn you that it’s a commitment—hot tubs, even inflatable ones, require some care and feeding—and that you’re going to pay for the privilege on your power bills and some occasional scrubbing.

    Slow Burn

The PureSpa is made by Intex, which is best known for its blow-up pool floats and camping mattresses, as well as aboveground pools, inflatable kayaks, and a host of similar products.

An inflatable hot tub is what it sounds like: It’s a tub that blows up using an air pump that’s part of the same unit that heats and filters. The shell of the tub is a three-ply laminated material that’s reassuringly sturdy—you won’t fret collapse while sitting on the edge. Roll out the bubble-wrap ground cover, put the tub on top, and inflate it—I have an automatic air pump that did the job in about 20 minutes. You then (carefully!) thread the inflow and outflow tubes from the heating unit to their counterparts on the tub. From there it took another 20 minutes to fill the tub with a garden hose. (Note that Intex recommends plugging the hot tub directly into an outlet and does not recommend use of an extension cord; something to consider when deciding on placement.)

    Photograph: Martin Cizmar

The maker says that to reach the max temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, the ambient outdoor temperature must be a minimum of 50 degrees. I didn’t find that to be true—I was able to get the water in the tub up to the max even when it was in the upper 20s. However, the water temp dropped once the insulated cover was off, and my power bill did reflect the challenge.

If you’re using hose water, expect to fill the tub and turn on the heat at least a day before you see yourself relaxing in it. Even when it was in the 60s outdoors I saw the temps rise by only a degree or two per hour. When I refilled in colder weather (colder than the temperature at which the company advertises it should be operated), it took two full days to break 100 degrees. The tub holds 200-plus gallons of water, which weighs 1,668 pounds on its own before adding people, so make sure the hot tub is placed on a surface that can support that weight.

That was before the insulated cover broke, though. This was not the result of any defect in manufacturing. Rather, it was my bad decision to leave the tub set up but not turned on during an especially cold stretch in the winter. A storm blew through and knocked a sharp branch off the tree above my deck, which punctured the insulated cover that had grown brittle from the cold. Water leaked through the hole and was sopped up by the insulation, becoming a soggy, heavy lump that I struggled to pull on and off. As I said, a hot tub is a commitment—if you’re going to use the Intex in winter be prepared to either take it apart or leave the heater running continuously so the cover doesn’t get brittle in the cold. (A replacement insulated cover can now be had for $80, but I instead bought a cheap, off-brand replacement and paid the difference to the power company over several months.)

    Video: Martin Cizmar

The other big issue I dealt with was a slow, steady leak from the seals on the heat pump. This started before I pushed the tub into freezing temperatures and continues to this day. A small drip of water every second adds up over the course of several days, so I found myself having to top off the tub with colder hose water, which meant waiting hours for it to heat up again. I worry I may have been too hasty in threading the tubes from the heater to the tub when I first got the tub—take your time and attach them as carefully as you can.

I didn’t have any difficulty with chemicals, because I used a single 1-inch chlorine tablet every week—the hot tub comes with a ball-shaped dispenser—and emptied the tub to clean using dish soap and a sponge at most monthly. (That’s another little chore, of course.) Refilling the tub only costs a couple of bucks where I live, but if you live somewhere where water is precious and expensive, you may want to spend time learning more about treatment regimens.

    Tub Time

Once you do settle into the PureSpa, though, you will be delighted. With the cover off for soaking, it will slowly cool but always stayed above 95 degrees for the duration of my 30-minute bubble timer. The bubbles come from 120 little holes running in a circle around the bottom of the tub. They’re far less powerful than Jacuzzi jets but do feel good against aching muscles, and they provide a nice ambiance.

There is plenty of room for four people, and two people can spread out across the tub and stretch their legs and arms. You won’t fret the tub collapsing if you lean over the edge to grab a drink or switch the music. After a couple of months, it became a reliable way to relax on a chilly evening. And once summer heat started, it was easy enough to deflate, clean, and stow away in the garage for the summer. (I was able to get the pool body down to about the size of a very large duffle bag.)

It won’t take many crisp nights before I’m dragging the Intex tub back out. Then, a few days later I’ll be spying on the water level and topping it off. A few weeks after that, I’ll be draining, scrubbing, and refilling. On and on, little chores rising up from the tub like so many bubbles.

I’m a sucker for wide-leg pants. I have superbaggy ’90s-era jeans that puddle at the heels, a cropped wide-leg pair in neon-hued cotton, wide-leg cargo pants with drawstrings at the hem, and the list goes on. The only thing missing in my collection was classic wide-leg denim. When I saw Madewell’s Emmett patch-pocket wide-leg jeans ($138), I was crossing my fingers they’d be a match. The darker wash, high-waisted cut, cute patch pockets, and subtle wide-leg was exactly what I was looking for. I grabbed them in my usual size and hoped for the best.

    What I Love About Madewell’s Emmett Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans

The material is mostly cotton with a smidge of recycled polyester and elastane, so they feel especially soft and stretchy. The top of the jeans hit just above my belly button and almost feel like shapewear. As a mom of two, I prefer high-waisted jeans that offer plenty of belly support without feeling like I’m counting down the minutes until I can unbutton them. They mold to my curves and I can squat, bend over, and run around all day without the dreaded droopiness that sometimes happens towards the end of the day.

The style comes in a light wash, a darker wash, and a slightly faded black. I chose the darker wash (aka the Allentown Wash), and I’m really happy with it. It’s incredibly flattering and not too saturated. The pants have subtle distressing that mimics the look of a beloved pair of vintage jeans. With the high waist, patch pockets, and body-hugging material, they even remind me of some of the jeans my mom wore in the ’70s, only with a straighter, more narrow leg.

    What’s Worth Noting About Madewell’s Emmett Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans

While the soft, stretchy material and waist support offer a curve-hugging fit, they also feel tighter in the crotch compared to some of the looser cuts I have. It’s not visually detectable (no camel toe to report), but I noticed the feeling as soon as I pulled them on. That said, it bothered me less the longer I wore them. The closest thing I can compare it to is the way the first few minutes of wearing an underwire bra feel before you forget you’re even wearing one an hour later. As far as the style goes, it’s the slimmest wide-leg jean I’ve ever tried on, which I think makes it more classic and versatile.

Who Are Madewell’s Emmett Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans Best For?

These jeans feel sexy and casual; vintage-inspired yet classic all at the same time. They’re great for anyone who might just be dipping their toe into the wide-leg waters. In other words, if you’re drawn to wide-leg silhouettes but aren’t sure you want to invest in such a trendy style, this pair really does feel timeless.

Aritzia has entered the shapewear chat, and we’re perking up and paying attention (quite literally). While the line, retailing from $28-$68 and aptly titled ShapeEnhance, has been introduced with just five pieces available in five neutral colorways, it’s off to a strong start. The fabric that comprises the collection is designed to support and enhance your natural curves with tubular-knit technology, though I personally feel like the compression is strong enough to help me correct my posture. So yeah, it’s that tight, but not in a bad way.

When four PS editors unboxed the ShapeEnhance Short, ShapeEnhance Thong Bodysuit, and ShapeEnhance Mid-Thigh Bodysuit, respectively, we all felt skeptical about our choice in sizing. Straight out of the package, the shapewear looks like it arrived 25 years too late for my American Girl Doll. But shimmying into these nylons is worth it if you like to feel super-snatched, and if you prefer a bit more room, you should simply size up.

Each piece is finished with meticulously-targeted shaping, giving your butt and chest an undeniable lift. What’s more, the minimal seam lines mean there’s no visible trace of the underwear, even under a sheer skirt or body-conscious knit maxi dress — just scroll for the proof.

While we hope Aritzia introduces more silhouettes and shades soon, we were highly-impressed with the luxe fabric. Read our full reviews and ratings ahead.

There are few things in my wardrobe that get more wear than the fanny pack that’s usually slung across my chest. Still, there are times when it’s necessary for me to bust out a mom bag that’s large enough to fit whatever the day is throwing at me — baby wipes, sunscreen, bags of goldfish, a bottle of bubbles, whatever it takes. While the cotton tote I usually grab for groceries has done the job more than once, I’ve decided that a better option is needed — one without loose strawberry stems and crumpled Trader Joe’s receipts at the bottom. Enter the Clare V. Michel Crochet Cotton Tote ($165), a cotton bag that accommodates more than the bare necessities and makes everything from a sweatsuit to jeans and a T-shirt look intentional and cool.

What I Love About the Clare V. Michel Crochet Cotton Tote

While it’s technically the same material as my grocery store tote, it’s crafted from supersoft crochet cotton, which gives it the most amazing texture. Unlike some woven bags that can be a little rough and scratchy, this one feels great on bare shoulders if you’re wearing a tank top or against bare arms. The striped pattern and bold cobalt blue and poppy red colors make an eye-catching statement, but my favorite detail might be the “Le Vibe” text across the side of the bag. Maybe it’s the recent Paris-held olympics or my bon vivant aspirations, but I can’t help but feel a little more chic with it draped on my shoulder. Am I en route to Saint-Tropez or soccer practice? Definitely the latter, but no one needs to know. It has a small gold charm with the Clare V. logo on the side for subtle bling and an interior leather logo tag.

What’s Worth Noting About the Clare V. Michel Crochet Cotton Tote

While it’s large enough to hold my MacBook Air and my kids’ tablets, it’s not the sort of tote I’d want to weigh down with a bunch of heavy things. Ultimately, it’s best suited for fairly light items since it’s a simple crochet bag, not to be mistaken with your leather commuter. That said, you can definitely get away with carrying a Kindle or even a laptop in a pinch, but it really shines as a carrier for your wallet, keys, sunglasses, and any other slightly larger items you couldn’t cram into a typical crossbody, like a notebook — or in my case, a coloring book and box of crayons. It also doesn’t have any interior pockets, which might turn some folks off. The Clare V. bag comes with a cute cotton pouch with the words “Merci Beau Coup” for you to store the bag in, which is a nice bonus.

Who is the Clare V. Michel Crochet Cotton Tote Best For?

If you’re looking for a sporty-chic tote that exudes designer vibes and is more weekend than weekday, you’ll love this. It’s the type of bag people notice, so get ready for compliments. That said, if you’re looking for a tote with all the bells and whistles like interior pockets, a zippered closure, or a key leash, keep looking.

Additional Details About the Clare V. Michel Crochet Cotton Tote

    • Dimensions: 14.5-inch width x 14-inch height x 1-inch diameter with a 10-inch strap drop.

Why the Staud Moon Bag Is My All-Time Favorite Accessory

One thing about me? My handbag collection boasts more traditional mall finds than designer labels — but I’m not mad about it. When it comes to my small but mighty lineup of investment pieces, I treat them like treasure, and that’s because I’m super intentional about every piece I add.

Call it girl math, but I’ve worn my bigger bag splurges so much that they’ve practically paid for themselves — at least, that’s what I tell myself. Out of the few designer bags in my rotation, there’s one that’s seen the most action and has quite literally traveled the globe with me: the Staud Moon Bag ($295). Ahead, I break down all the reasons I love it, what to consider before you buy it, and more.

    Main Image
    • Staud is known for its high-quality pieces that hit the sweet spot between mass retailers and high-end designers.
    • The Staud Moon bag came out in 2019, four years after the brand was founded.
    • It’s known for its signature crescent shape and minimalist design.
    • It comes in a wide range of colors and materials and three different sizes.

What I love about the Staud Moon Bag is that it manages to be both timeless and unique — a rare combination in the world of handbags. I have the black leather version, and it’s truly a chameleon piece. No matter what outfit I’m wearing, no matter the season, this bag complements it perfectly, adding a special touch without overpowering the look. I’ve probably worn it over 100 times by now and it never fails to spark compliments; I’ve had more than a few people ask where it’s from.

Another thing I like about the Staud Moon Bag is its price — $295 is still an investment, but it’s way more accessible than your typical luxury designer bags. It’s also the perfect size for my essentials: phone, sunglasses, a few lip products, hand sanitizer, wallet, and keys — everything I need for a night out or a daytime errand run. Plus, it features two magnetic flaps inside that you can lift and place on top of each other for added security, so the top isn’t wide open at all times.

I’m equally in love with its details, from the white contrast stitching that adds the perfect subtle pop of visual interest to the luxe suede lining and interior zipper compartment for small essentials. The top features a removable Staud-embossed accent that stays in place with snap buttons. I never take it off because it only adds to the bag’s vibe, in my opinion.

I won’t lie — the Staud Moon Bag’s interior isn’t the most spacious due to its unique shape, so it doesn’t hold a ton. While its size works well for me, personally, it’s probably not ideal for those looking for a roomy purse that can fit essentials and then some.

And while this bag has been my chic travel buddy for years, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for sightseeing in a new city since the top is relatively open. I’m the type to take risks (if you’re a criminal, I’m definitely lying), and I haven’t had any issues, but I can see how it might give others pause.

Lastly, packing it can be a bit tricky. Its structured shape doesn’t compress easily, so you’ll want to be careful to avoid altering its form. That said, it generally fits into my suitcase as I fill it with soft items, like tank tops or T-shirts, to preserve the structure.

Whether the Staud Moon Bag is worth the splurge ultimately comes down to personal preference. For me, it’s a definite yes. I’ve been a fan of Staud’s clothing for a while, and I can vouch that even after years of wear and my less-than-gentle packing habits, the bag still looks brand new. Plus, the black colorway pairs well with everything while adding a playful touch to my outfits, thanks to its crescent moon shape.

The Staud Moon Bag is available on the brand’s website, as well as on Amazon with Prime delivery options as fast as one day.

A pair of chunky, retro-inspired aviator sunglasses were at the top of my summer shopping list. My requirements were specific: they needed to have a good tortoiseshell pattern, a lighter lens that would show my eyes, and a low enough price tag to keep them from becoming a stress liability — keeping track of my Apple AirPods is hard enough. After trying on a few pairs of cheap-looking plastic versions while also passing up options I loved that were way out of my price range, I found these Aire Whirlpool 53mm Aviator Sunglasses ($39).

    Main Image

What I Love About the Aire Whirlpool 53mm Aviator Sunglasses

When people compliment them, I’m almost giddy to share the price.

The thicker frames, subtle tortoiseshell, and light khaki-tinted lenses capture the vintage vibe I was after. I love that the lenses are light enough that I can wear them inside and still see if I have to run a quick errand, but they also offer full UV protection. They have enough weight to feel substantial but are comfortable enough to wear for hours. I like that the tortoiseshell gives the frames more dimension without creating a high contrast pattern. The frames have a slight square shape to them, which helps them veer more ’70s than early 2000s. I’ve tried on pairs of aviator sunglasses under $20 that definitely looked their price — I blame the high-gloss shine of the plastic, the thin frames, and the all-wrong lens shapes — but these look much more expensive than they are. When people compliment them, I’m almost giddy to share the price. At less than $40, I honestly consider them a steal.

What’s Worth Noting About the Aire Whirlpool 53mm Aviator Sunglasses

These sunglasses come in several colors, including black frames with tan, tinted lenses; vintage tortoiseshell with brown gradient lenses; and tortoiseshell with khaki-tinted lenses, the latter being what I chose. I love my pair so much that I’m considering ordering the other colors to try on too. The frames are also made from recycled polycarbonate, which I appreciate. I purchased them from Nordstrom and they came with a slim, leather case that has an easy-snap opening, so I can throw them in my purse without worrying about them getting scratched.

Who Are the Aire Whirlpool 53mm Aviator Sunglasses Best For?

These sunglasses are perfect for anyone looking for a pair of vintage-inspired aviator shades that only look expensive. They have lighter lenses, so they’re also ideal for anyone who doesn’t mind their eyes showing.

Additional Details About the Aire Whirlpool 53mm Aviator Sunglasses

    • 53mm lens width; 21mm bridge width; 142mm temple length
    • 100 percent UV protection
    • Made from recycled polycarbonate

A good pair of penny loafers are a closet staple. You can wear them from winter to summer, and from work to dinner with friends. But finding the right pair of loafers can be a challenge. Some are too stiff for everyday wear, others are too trendy to be a favorite for years to come.

That’s where Cole Haan’s Lux Pinch Penny Loafers ($158) come in. These shoes feature a classic penny silhouette, one that’s been around for centuries, in a soft-grain leather. I’ve always been a fan of Cole Haan shoes, so when I came across this style, I was eager to test them out and see if they would become part of my everyday shoe rotation. Read my full review of the Lux Pinch Penny Loafers, ahead.

    Main Image

What’s the Criteria For a Good Pair of Loafers?

Living in New York City means that proper footwear is an essential. My shoes need to work for my life, enduring eight-plus miles a day, bringing me from the office to the park to a bike ride through the streets. Because I’m constantly on-the-go, the shoes that I reach for are the ones that don’t leave me with blisters or aching feet at the end of a long day. Beyond practicality and comfort, I want stylish loafers that I can wear with a range of outfits. These parameters often leave me with a limited selection of shoes to choose from — beyond my trusty Salomon sneakers and my Proenza Schouler x Birkenstock sandals. But the Lux Pinch Penny Loafers fit the bill.

What I Like About the Lux Pinch Penny Loafers

Coming in well under $200, the Cole Haan loafers are rather affordable compared to similar styles made with real leather. My other leather loafers are pretty rigid, but this pair is soft and flexible, while still maintaining its structure. They also didn’t have a breaking-in period; I was able to wear them throughout the entire day, blister-free, immediately after taking them out of the box.

To really put the loafers to the test, I wore them biking from Williamsburg to Prospect Park, which is about eight miles roundtrip. I usually have to compromise on my outfit when it comes to biking, and opt for a pair of sneakers instead. On the product listing, Cole Haan says that loafers feature the brand’s “3D Lux Comfort,” an innovative technology that helps with shock absorption and arch support, while cushioning the heel. Stepping into the shoes, I immediately felt the cushioning effect. It added a nice padding throughout my bike ride, making the loafers practically as comfortable as a running shoe. Not to mention, the loafers complemented my outfit more than my everyday pair of sneakers.

Beyond fit and comfort, the shoe itself is timeless. The grain on the leather is soft and shiny, making it feel quite luxurious. But the classic penny shape can easily be dressed up or down. I’ve worn these loafers with a long dress for a Friday night dinner and with a tennis skirt and an oversized T-shirt while running errands. No matter the occasion, I just slide my feet into these loafers and wear them all day, issue-free. It’s safe to say these Cole Haan loafers have become one of the most worn pairs of shoes in my closet.

What to Consider Before Buying These Loafers

Though the product listing recommends sizing down by a half size for those with narrow feet, I actually found the opposite to be true. I’m a US women’s size seven and my feet are about medium width. Initially, I ordered a size seven, but the loafers were too tight. I decided to go up a half size, and they fit perfectly. Since the loafers come in standard width, I’d suggest going up a half size if you have wider feet.

Another factor to consider is that the soles do not have a strong grip, mainly the upper part of the sole. My feet occasionally slipped while walking around, more specifically on the ramp of the city’s street curbs. If you’re someone who prefers more traction, you can always bring the loafers to the cobbler and add a rubber grip to the sole.

    Additional Details About the Loafers

The Cole Haan Lux Pinch Penny Loafers ($158) are available in four different colors. Women’s sizes range from 5 US to 11 US, in half-size increments, and come in standard (medium) width.

    Where Are These Loafers Available?

You can purchase a pair on the brand’s website, Zappos, and Amazon.

Dressing up for an event is easy, but dressing for the everyday? Now that’s an entirely different challenge. It’s one thing to coordinate an outfit for a formal occasion — weddings, work parties, even date nights at fancier restaurants often have an attached dress code that provides some sort of direction on what to wear.

But what about those exceptionally casual occasions that don’t necessarily warrant a polished “going out” look, but still require more than your basic pajamas — like days spent lounging around the house, bopping around town for a few errands, or even just walking to get a coffee?

Even the most seasoned stylists struggle to curate the perfect everyday wardrobe. Luckily for us, Anthropologie — ever the haven for versatile fashion — just debuted a new line that’s designed to take the guesswork out of dressing for the day-to-day, with pieces that are comfortable (and stylish) enough to be worn for all sorts of casual activities — anti-occasionwear, if you will.

The Daily Practice collection is a capsule of styles that are made to do it all. Crafted from the brand’s softest fabrics, this line features a wide array of pieces — from stretchy jumpsuits and parachute pants to breathable maxi dresses and cropped sweatshirts. The collection is an achievement in versatility, with ensembles that you can comfortably wear from a morning yoga class to a long afternoon lunch and beyond.

To get a full understanding of the line’s offerings, we tasked three PS editors with testing several items from the collection in their own daily wardrobe. Keep reading for our review of Anthropologie’s Daily Practice collection — and see whether the line lived up to the hype.

I’ve got a wedding-heavy summer ahead, so much so that I now consider myself an expert bridesmaid. However, as many of us know, bridesmaid duties come with hefty costs. While I’d do almost anything for my friends, going into debt isn’t one of them. That’s why I’ve been savvy about cutting costs, especially when it comes to my wedding shoes.

I’m wearing the same pair to all three weddings on my calendar, namely the Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals ($36). I virtually stumbled upon them while working on a story about the best summer shoes on Amazon, and I was immediately intrigued since they hold the number one spot among all women’s heeled sandals. Given their popularity, and the fact that the brand Dream Pairs happens to also make some of the most comfortable Western boots I’ve ever owned (these ones!), I decided they’d be a safe bet for my weddings. I scooped them up in my usual size 9.5 in a light beige color I knew would match all of my bridesmaid dresses — and that was one of the smartest decisions I’ve made this summer.

    Main Image

Ahead, I break down everything you need to know about them if you’re considering buying them for a special event, too.

At the time of writing, I’ve already worn the Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals to two of my three summer weddings. I’ll admit, when everyone was showing off their designer shoes before the ceremony at the first wedding, I stayed quiet since I spent practically nothing on mine. But then I couldn’t help but smile when I was the only bridesmaid who kept my shoes on for the entire reception. They were comfortable enough and stable. Even though the unhemmed dress I wore gave me some trouble walking down the aisle (totally my fault), my shoes kept me upright. Their chunky, stable block heel held up perfectly, even on the wet grass from a rainstorm earlier that day.

Beyond their comfort, they looked the part, too, which I’d like to think is evidenced in this mirror selfie I snapped at the second wedding while the bride lounged behind me. (I’m wearing the Azazie Barbie Pleated Chiffon A-Line Dress in Champagne, BTW, and felt like a princess.) I chose the light beige color (one of 31 total styles and colors to choose from) because I knew they’d go with everything. Plus, I figured that if they survived all three weddings, the versatile shade would make them perfect for future special events. Despite wearing them through two ceremonies, two receptions, and hours of questionable moves on the dance floor, they’re still in pristine shape for my final summer wedding in a few weeks.

These sandals are not the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, which, to be honest, I kind of expected given their price tag. The buckle at the ankle dug into my skin a bit at the first wedding, but in retrospect, I’m confident that was a user error from securing them as tight as possible to prevent a walk-down-the-aisle stumble. I was still able to wear them all night, which is more than I can say for some of the pricier heels I own. At the second wedding I didn’t secure the strap as tightly and found they were comfortable from the time I slipped them on at 3 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. post-ceremony. No blisters, no blood, no regret.

Another thing worth noting is that shoppers seem a bit conflicted over the fit. I hover between sizes 9.5 and 10, and since multiple shoppers noted that they run big, I went for the 9.5 and found they were a perfect fit. Many reviewers suggest ordering a half size down, which made sense for me, but a handful of others found that sizing down made them too small. So, if you’re ordering them on Amazon without much time to spare, it might be worth ordering two sizes to find your ideal fit and returning the pair that doesn’t work.

The Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals are perfect for those looking for a reasonably priced, comfortable, and versatile pair of heels for a special event. While they might not be the most comfortable shoes in the world, they’re the number one bestseller on Amazon in women’s heeled sandals for plenty of other reasons. They’ve checked a big box off my summer wedding wardrobe checklist and will suit you well for any event where you need a timeless heel.

I purchased the Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals on Amazon, which was ideal because they arrived very quickly with Amazon Prime shipping, but they’re also available on the brand’s website.

    • The Dream Pairs Chunk Low Heel Pump Sandals come in a total of 31 colors and styles.
    • They have a three-inch block heel.
    • They’re available for fast shipping with Amazon Prime.

They say that having a good suitcase can make or break the quality of a trip, but in my experience, having a comfortable travel outfit is just as important. Whether I’m jet-setting off to a new country or embarking on a long road trip, the one constant during all of my travels is that I want to be comfortable.

My perfect travel look consists of a couple things: I want an ensemble that’s warm but not too hot, breathable but not too light, and versatile enough that I can wear it straight off the plane and into a work meeting or fun activity the moment I land. Even as a seasoned traveler, finding a style that ticks all of these boxes can be daunting. Fortunately — after lots of trial and error — I recently stumbled upon my favorite travel outfit to date in the form of this top-rated VamJump 2-Piece Lounge Set ($54-$59).

    Main Image

This ensemble is just one of many cozy Amazon sets, but the pairing stands out for its flattering silhouette, delicate composition, and variety of colors — which all make it easy to stock up on the matching set in a handful of shades (and believe me, I have). From wearing it in a six-hour car ride en route to California to donning it on an eight-hour flight headed towards the Caribbean, it’s become as much of a travel essential as my passport. Ahead, I detail why.

What I Like About This Matching Amazon Set

First off, I love that it feels like a cozy pajama set, but has the look of a more polished knit set. After long travel days, I often arrive at my destination looking disheveled and messy — as to be expected coming off of a 10-plus hour flight or lengthy car ride. Coordinating travel outfits that are comfortable yet still stylish enough to ensure I look put-together isn’t always the easiest task, but this Amazon set has certainly helped to simplify the challenge.

It’s made from a viscose and nylon blend that’s soft and cozy, with a breathable composition that’s not too thick or thin — there’s just enough material to keep me warm without having to worry about sweating in hotter environments. And even with the lighter shades (I personally own the set in the white and apricot colorways), the fabric isn’t too see-through, which is a huge plus, considering the style’s delicate design.

More than anything, I love that I don’t have to stress about what I’m wearing for my next flight or road trip. The outfit is a staple option that I can turn to regardless of where my travels take me, and it’s super packable — even if I’m traveling with only a carry-on, the knit set is easy to squeeze into my suitcase for the return flight and doesn’t take up as much space as a bulky jumpsuit or onesie.

    What’s Worth Noting

Some shoppers have noticed issues with the fabric pilling after the first few washes. One reviewer on Amazon’s site wrote: “Loved this two piece — comfy and warm and great for travel. But after the first wash it looks terrible – pilling and bobbling. Such a shame.” Another user expressed similar sentiments with the fabric’s quality, writing: “The material picks very easy.” I’ve worn (and washed) this matching set several different times already, and personally haven’t had any issues with the style — there have been zero signs of pilling or frayed material. However, because it’s a knit set with a more delicate composition, I recommend washing the outfit in a gentle cycle with other delicates and then air drying it to avoid any potential strain on the material.

Who Is This Matching Amazon Set Best For?

If you’re someone who travels often and wants a knit set that you can comfortably wear from the airplane to a planned activity — all while looking fresh and put-together — this Amazon loungewear is a worthwhile buy with an under-$100 price tag that won’t break your shopping budget.

    Additional Details

    • This matching knit set is made from a viscose and nylon blend that’s soft against skin.
    • It’s available in nine unique colorways, including white (my shade of choice), khaki, light blue, and more.
    • Per the brand, it’s recommended that users machine wash it cold.
    • With sizes ranging from small to X-Large, it’s designed to fit most body types.

Where Is This Matching Amazon Set Available to Shop?

This knit set is available to shop exclusively at Amazon.

When you think of an ergonomic or practical shoe, chic might not be the first word to come to mind. So when I was introduced to Kizik and its patented hands-free technology, I was surprised to discover how stylish the brand’s slip-on shoes were. Many of Kizik’s everyday styles look like any other sneaker (replete with shoelaces and various sleek designs), but their hands-free tech means you don’t have to bend down to tie them or hold down the heel or tongue to get your feet into the shoe.

Each style comes with a heel cup that’s designed to compress and bounce back, so you can simply slip them on and off without crushing the back or losing the shape of the shoe. But the added tech doesn’t mean they’re heavier or come with extra bulk — Kiziks may be one of the most lightweight sneakers I’ve ever owned.

I got the opportunity to try the Kizik Women’s Paris Sneaker ($135), the brand’s newest shoe, a few weeks before its release in its namesake city. Fifty thousand steps later, I can confirm these sneakers held up in the most fashionable city in the world on all fronts. Keep reading to see why they’re now my go-to shoes for traveling.

    Main Image

What I Like About the Kizik Paris Sneaker

For me, sneakers are split into two categories: athletic running shoes for the gym or other active purposes, and cute sneakers for everyday street style. Comfort in general is important to me, but I’ve been known to choose style over it on numerous occasions. So while I love my Hokas or On sneakers for HIIT workouts, I’ll never wear them with jeans or even an exercise dress to run errands in.

It’s not often there’s overlap between these categories, but Kizik’s Paris sneakers crossed over into that middle ground. During my weekend trip in Paris, I averaged about 15,000 steps a day in these shoes with no issue. The refined leather sneakers paired perfectly with my neutral, French-girl inspired outfits, with the rose gold detailing serving as a subtle pop of color.

Aside from the aesthetics, the shoes are truly comfortable and required no breaking in — something I’ve never experienced with leather sneakers. This particular pair is made with nubuck leather, which is more durable and breathable than typical synthetic leathers.

Though I was initially skeptical, I also found the hands-free feature to be such a game changer. The Paris sneakers are designed with Kizik’s patented External Flex Arc, which compresses against the back of the midsole and springs back up when stepped in. I didn’t realize how much time I’d been spending stopping to tie my shoes, twisting my feet into already-laced shoes, or using shoehorns to slide them on until I didn’t have to think about it at all. It was especially ideal for traveling: slipping them off on a long flight or passing through airport security, where shoe removal is required.

What to Consider Before Trying the Kizik Paris Sneaker

Kiziks are not waterproof or machine washable, though you can remove the insoles and wash them separately. So if you’re someone who’s careful about maintaining clean, white shoes, that’s something to keep in mind. I ended up wearing these sneakers in Paris’s random bursts of summer rain, and while they got wet, they did dry quickly. They also come with a sturdy rubber outsole to combat slippery streets. When it comes to cleaning the Paris sneakers, the brand recommends spot cleaning with a soft cloth only.

Unlike most other styles from Kizik, the Paris does not come in wide sizes, only standard.

Who’s the Kizik Paris Sneaker Best For?

Kizik’s hands-free tech is ideal for those who have limitations that make bending down and tying shoes difficult — such as reduced mobility or pregnancy. But they’re also great for anyone in search of a comfortable, stylish shoe for daily wear.

    Additional Details:

    • These sneakers come in three colors: Pristine Amberlight, Metallic White, and Black Pristine.
    • They’re available in sizes ranging from women’s 6 to 13.
    • The Paris comes with a cushiony midsole, allowing for more momentum and absorbing impact.

Where Is the Kizik Paris Sneaker Available?

Kizik’s Paris sneakers are currently only available to shop on the brand’s site, though other styles are available at retailers like Amazon and Nordstrom.

The last time I wore a midi skirt was probably the summer after I started middle school. You could’ve called me Lizzie McGuire then, because I was a shameless outfit repeater. I wore one teal tiered peasant skirt just about everywhere. Now that I can look back at my middle school days fondly (instead of cringing), I’ll be the first to admit that despite my many fashion misses, that skirt was probably the best addition to my wardrobe at the time.

So when I began seeing long, white breezy skirts everywhere last summer — and was reminded of the merits of owning pieces that are easy to throw on in hot weather — I started looking for the perfect white skirt. After trying on dozens of skirts over the span of a year that were too long, too thin, or too sheer, I finally found the Lowen Midi Skirt ($60) at Free People — and it’s so good I’ve been outfit repeating (again) this summer.

    Main Image

What I Like About the Free People Lowen Midi Skirt

What I love about the Lowen Midi Skirt is how effortlessly chic it is. In my opinion, a classic A-line silhouette is timeless. I also like that this billowy skirt is made of 100 percent cotton, which means it’s lightweight and comfortable for warm weather. And despite being airy and light, the skirt doesn’t feel thin, thanks to a poplin fabric that gives it a bit more structure. Another bonus? The skirt has pockets! Those were not expected, but of course greatly appreciated.

Another thing I look for in my summer staples is versatility, and I’m happy to report that I’ve already worn this skirt to a summer soirée, the airport, and lunch with friend; it’s safe to say that this skirt has earned its place in my wardrobe for the summer and beyond. I’ve paired the ivory skirt with some ballet flats and elevated accessories for a fancier feel and dressed it down by throwing on a T-shirt and sneakers, too.

What to Know Before Buying the Free People Lowen Midi Skirt

I loved the fit and fabric of the skirt, but will admit that the skirt is still on the sheer side. I could get away with wearing skin-toned underwear or shorts underneath, but some might feel more comfortable with a slip.

The brand also notes that this particular style runs big, so you can size down for a more fitted look. I sized down and thought it fit just right — the elastic waistband cinched in my waist. The skirt length was accurate, but I will note that I’m just under 5’7″, so it may fit more like a maxi skirt than a midi skirt if you’re shorter than me.

Who the Free People Lowen Midi Skirt Is Best For

Free People’s Lowen Midi Skirt is perfect for anyone who is looking for a simple but chic addition to their wardrobe. The cotton material is flowy and comfortable, especially on hot days, which makes it a great piece for spring and summer.

Additional Details About the Free People Lowen Midi Skirt

    • The Lowen Midi Skirt is made of 100 percent cotton.
    • The skirt comes in five colors: Ivory, Black, Sugar Magnolia, Heart Eyes, and Mellow Yellow.
    • It is available in sizes XS-XL.

Where Is the Free People Lowen Midi Skirt Available to Shop?

The Lowen Midi Skirt is available to shop exclusively at Free People.

One of my favorite things to do whenever I visit a new city is to simply walk around. As mundane as it may seem, I find that there are few ways better to immerse yourself in a destination than by taking it all in by foot. From marveling at architecture to wandering in and out of shops and grabbing a bite to eat at any hole-in-the-wall restaurants I spot along the way, walking through a city offers the most authentic glimpse of a place’s culture, community, and overall vibe — minus the usual (and unbearably crowded) tourist spots.

In my last few trips, I totaled 10 miles walking through Copenhagen, 11 miles in Paris, and eight miles strolling through London’s storied streets. When you saunter as aimlessly (and as often) as I do, having a pair of comfortable walking shoes becomes as essential as having a valid passport or physical currency in a foreign country. While I’ve tried my fair share of comfy sneakers, I’ve found these PrettyLittleThing White Chunky Cleated Sole Sneakers ($19, originally $48) to be the most reliable, supportive, and versatile for styling with a number of different outfits.

    Main Image

Ahead, I detail what makes these travel sneakers so great — and why they’re a worthwhile buy ahead of any upcoming trips you might have planned.

What I Like About These PrettyLittleThing Sneakers

First and foremost, I love just how comfortable these walking shoes are. Given that they’re not from an athletic brand (like a Nike or Hoka) and that the shoes are relatively affordable, I had my doubts about just how supportive they could actually be. But after packing them for a trip to London and wearing them nonstop while abroad, I was amazed at how well they held up after several days in the city — most of which were just spent aimlessly strolling from Camden Market to Soho and beyond.

I found myself less reliant on the tube or Uber and more prone to just walk from one destination to another because of how remarkably supportive the shoes were. Even after logging eight miles, my feet never felt tired or cramped up; I even wore them to the airport going and coming home through what wound up being two of the longest travel days I’ve ever had. And again, I experienced zero aches or pains.

Another thing that I love is how classically stylish and simple these trendy sneakers are. While I’ve learned to simplify my packing habits over the years, I still struggle with over-packing shoes, and always assume I need more than I actually do; sandals for warm days, boots for colder ones, heels for evenings out, and sneakers for walking excursions is usually what’s included in my shoe rotation for trips. But when I’m lacking suitcase space and need a style that I can feel good about wearing for it all — even if I’m jumping from the airport to a work meeting and dinner later in the evening — these faux-leather sneakers have proven to be a failsafe option that goes with every outfit and eliminates the stress that comes with packing (in my case, over-packing) travel shoes.

    What’s Worth Noting

As with most white sneakers, these shoes require that you clean them often. After every trip I’ve worn them on — from London to Seattle and even on the beach in Oceanside, California — I’ve had to clean them immediately upon returning home. Fortunately, the sneakers are made from a faux-leather material that’s easy to clean; I usually just dampen a wash cloth or towel with warm water, run the towel over the shoes, and wipe dirt off as needed. They’re much easier to clean than fabric sneakers, making them an even more functional travel shoe that you can truly take anywhere — regardless of the environment or activities you have planned.

Who Are These PrettyLittleThing Sneakers Best For?

If you’re looking for a comfortable shoe that’s supportive, provides plenty of cushioning, and is primed for wear from the airport to the hotel and beyond, I can’t recommend these comfy sneakers enough. White shoes go with truly everything, meaning you can get away with just packing these for a trip; I love styling them with jeans, dresses, and even a corset and blazer look. Despite their high-quality design, the sneakers are also incredibly affordable, so you can add them to your wardrobe without having to exceed your shopping budget.

    Additional Details

    • These sneakers are available to shop in US women’s sizes 5-12.
    • The shoes are made from a faux-leather material that’s sleek and waterproof.
    • With a lace-up design, users can easily adjust the shoe’s fit to better suit their comfort preferences.

When I find a handbag I love, I wear it constantly, sometimes until I’m teetering on the brink of growing tired of it. To change things up every now and then, I make it a mission to hyper-focus on just one designer handbag per season. During the winter, my trusty companion was the Coach Pillow Tabby Shoulder Bag 20, which featured squishy quilting that made me feel cozy just looking at it. When spring came, my obsession shifted to my beloved Staud Leather Moon Bag, which constantly drew compliments. Now, the Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag ($24, originally $50) has successfully stolen my heart for summer. It’s super soft, spacious, and its crescent shape adds dimension to all my outfits. Plus, it’s a steal compared to what I typically spend on handbags. Ahead, I share more details on what you need to know about it and why you should definitely add it to your summer handbag collection too.

    Main ImageMain Image

What I Love About the Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag

What I love about the Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag is that it’s versatile and spacious, without feeling like a burden to carry around. Unlike some of my more structured handbags, it’s perfect for travel, compacting to nearly nothing when it’s empty. But when it’s filled to the brim, it’s like a Mary Poppins moment. I can easily fit a novel, sunglasses case, hand sanitizer, lipstick, wallet, Beats Studio Pro Headphones, and keys inside, with plenty of space to spare. It reminds me of the Alo Yoga Om The Go Gym Sling Bag, another favorite of mine, though that one’s better suited for workouts than Gap’s version, which can easily be dressed up or down. Case in point: I recently paired it with Gap’s High Rise Utility Easy Jeans, a tank top, and crochet cardigan for an effortless errand-running look.

    PS Photography | Marisa Petrarca

What’s Worth Noting About the Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag

At the time of writing, this handbag hasn’t garnered many reviews. However, there was one particular comment that caught my attention. A customer mentioned the bag was larger than they expected prompting a return. Given this feedback, I recommend considering its dimensions (15x4x8 inches) before making your purchase. It’s perfect for day trips or errand-running when you need to stash away all your essentials, but in the spirit of transparency, it may be a bit too sizable for evenings out. For dinners or nights on the town, a smaller purse to hold just a phone, wallet, keys, and lipstick could be the way to go for some. But for everyday use, this tote more than qualifies as a practical carryall.

Who Is the Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag Best For?

The Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag is best for those looking for a versatile, affordable, and stylish handbag that can be worn year-round. It’s also an ideal choice for those who avoid authentic leather goods because it’s crafted from 100 percent animal-friendly synthetic materials.

Where Is the Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag Available?

The Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag is available exclusively at Gap. You can purchase it on the brand’s website and at select in-store locations, so long as it’s in stock.

Additional Details About the Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag

    • The Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag comes in one color: True Black.
    • It has an adjustable shoulder strap.
    • It has silver hardware and a smooth zipper.

  • Does the Viral Skims Nipple Bra Look and Feel Realistic? Here’s My Take

Does the Viral Skims Nipple Bra Look and Feel Realistic? Here’s My Take

    [ad_1]

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

You’ve probably already caught “The Kardashians” clip of Scott Disick recognizing Kim Kardashian’s Skims nipple bra on Khloé and immediately inquiring, “Do you have the new nipple bra on?” “Of course,” Khloé replies. “These are Kim’s nipples on my body.” Naturally, I adopted that very same phrase when I headed out the door with my partner for brunch wearing the one and only Skims Ultimate Nipple Push-Up Bra ($64) in Clay. “These are Kim Kardashian’s nipples on my body!” I shouted with glee as I stood on the sidewalk requesting a Lyft.

    Main Image

I should preface the rest of this review by explaining that I’m not a bra person. I have a small bust (30B/32A) and I tend to let my chest breathe most of the time, or employ boob tape and covers when necessary (i.e. when my shirt is see-through). For that reason, wearing a padded push-up bra equipped with built-in raised nipples was a full-blown experience for me. I chose a fitted white T-shirt to achieve optimal effect of this innovative look, styling it with a slip skirt and white sneakers to keep my outfit minimal.

Not only was I trying on the nipple bra for comfortability and quality, I was quizzically observing passersby — specifically those I came in contact with — to determine whether they caught wind of my Kardashian nipples on full display.

Ahead, check out my thorough review of the bra (which I own in both Clay and Onyx), and read directly quoted feedback from my boyfriend, which I simply had to seek upon reading customer reviews such as, “My husband cannot look into my eyes when I’m wearing this bra” and “My husband asked me if I got a boob job overnight.”

About the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra

    • The bra is modeled after Skims co-founder Kim Kardashian’s own bust, which she confirmed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
    • The material is 84 percent nylon, 16 percent spandex and feels like super-soft microfiber with a sheen against your skin.
    • It’s available in Skims’s popular neutral colorways including Sand, Clay, Sienna, Bronze, Jasper, Cocoa, and Onyx.
    • The band size range is 30-44 and the cup size range is A-F.
    • The lightweight foam pads, which classify the bra as a push-up, are tapered for natural-looking lift and support, according to the site.
    • The design is equipped with smoothing wings on the side and hidden underwire with a soft casing.
    • The straps are adjustable and there’s a hook and eye closure at the back.
    • The bra should be hand washed and should not be placed in the dryer or dry cleaned.

What I Like About the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra

This bra, which has over 200 reviews and a 4.7-star rating, is first and foremost an original. There aren’t many other models like it on the market, and it absolutely serves its purpose. Although I mentioned I’m not much of a bra-wearer, I’ve worn a push-up bra or two in my day and can confirm this design absolutely lifts my bust and rounds out the shape of my breasts with extra padding. The nipples are also easy to discern under clothing (yes, even if you’re wearing black or dark tops). Fit-wise, the bra runs true to size. (Note: The site suggests sizing up if you’re in-between band widths after taking your measurements.)

As Kardashian mentioned during her “Kimmel” segment, many breast cancer survivors have expressed appreciation for the bra as an option for women who have undergone mastectomies and may have not been able to keep their nipples. In my opinion, a product that helps women feel more confident in any way is an obvious win. If a perky bust is what you’re after, the Skims Nipple Bra more than meets expectations.

    PS Photography | Sarah Wasilak

Is the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra Comfortable?

As I’ve mentioned, I’m most comfortable going braless. But I would compare the comfortability of the Skims Nipple Bra to any other push-up bra I’ve worn in the past (my other go-to for years has been the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy Bombshell). That being said, it’s important to note that in order for the nipples to appear prominent through layers, the foam pads in each cup must be highly structured, so you’re going to feel less of a forgiving cushion and more of a thick and firm filling. Skims also recommends going up a band size if you’re worried about digging or pinching at the sides — and while I didn’t experience either, I would describe the fit in this area to be “extra-snug,” which is a smidge above “snug” but not quite “tight” in my book.

Does the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra Look Natural?

This is where opinions become particularly subjective. Let’s start with my personal stance: when I look at myself in the mirror while wearing the Skims Nipple Bra, I do not feel like my bust looks natural. As a braless advocate, my nipples have gotten hard before where I’ve been able to make them out through my shirt, and my own pair aren’t nearly as perky as the Kardashian set. That being said, from afar, I do think the bra provides a realistic illusion. While going about my day, I believe I witnessed a handful of prolonged stares at my chest, but then again, I am one paranoid individual. If these viewers were scoping out the area, I’m inclined to think they were more curious about the bra itself while equally aware that I was not experiencing a chill on a sweltering hot, 85-degree day while sipping my Aperol spritz.

While going about my day, I believe I witnessed a handful of prolonged stares at my chest, but then again, I am one paranoid individual.

My boyfriend’s take? After spending a full 24-hours with me, myself, and Kardashian’s nipples, he declared: “The nipples are not round enough and they seem to be misplaced.” (We tried to fix this by adjusting the straps, but he ultimately felt like the placement of the nipples was not proportional to the would-be cleavage area on my shirt.) “Also, no two nipples are alike, just like no two fingerprints are alike,” he continued, “So the fact that both nipples look the same raises alarms as to the authenticity of the bra.” Given his career in tech and his interest in the development of products, he also suggested that he would like to see some sort of dynamic model, where the nipples can be adjusted to both hard and soft settings to mimic the natural body.

All of this being said, if the lifelike quality of the bra is preventing you from purchasing it, Kardashian did tease that the brand is working on a “softer” version during her “Kimmel” appearance.

What to Consider Before Buying the Skims Nipple Push-Up Bra

Skims allows for 30-day free returns for store credit (see the store locator list if you prefer to shop in person). However, the brand’s policy also states that for a refund back to the original payment method (if you purchased the bra online), a $6 return shipping fee will apply. For that reason, I highly recommend seeking a location that has the bra in stock to try it on before purchasing it. If you do decide you want to return the bra, it must be unworn, unwashed, and in the original condition with all tags — so be careful during your try-on process. Finally, don’t forget to go up a band size if you’re in-between sizes and hate the feeling of restriction around your abs, chest, and bust line.

It may come as no surprise that Reformation’s revamped swimwear comes with new and improved materials. The line, which retails from $68 to $168 in sizes XS-XL, is made from a renewable and bio-based fiber called EVO by Fulgar. And, according to Reformation’s chief innovation officer Alison Melville, the product will only grow more sustainable with each seasonal drop (check out drop three here!). The first range incorporated deadstock fabric from the brand’s debut swimwear collection in 2019, and Reformation promises to “continue innovating and trying out new materials until we create the most sustainable swimwear possible,” according to Melville.

Instantly attracted to the striking bikinis and one-pieces, PS editors were eager to get our hands on the latest swimwear designs, many of which were influenced by bestselling products across other categories. “We designed Ref Swim to complement and round out our customers’ existing Ref wardrobes,” Melville tells PS. “Throughout the design process, we were inspired by the concept of outfitting and looked to the silhouettes of some of our top performing apparel items to create complementary swim pieces. For example, the Melanie Top was one of our most popular styles in 2023 so we carried the peekaboo design detail through in our Tossa One Piece and Tossa Bikini Top.”

Melville confirms that the success of drops one and two has exceeded expectations, with solid colors being most popular — a trend that speaks to the Ref shopper’s love for ’90s minimalism. The Tossa Top, Azure Bottom, and Soleil Top are within the top five SKUs, and they just so happen to be three of the pieces we selected to try at PS.

Ahead, you’ll hear from four different editors about their experiences trying Reformation swimwear with one shared sentiment: the quality is in the fabric and the fit.

This Is the Softest White T-Shirt I’ve Ever Worn

A classic white T-shirt is a basic staple. Like a little black dress, it’s one of those wardrobe essentials that countless fashion editors and stylists recommend as a key piece to have in your closet.

Still, I’ve never been able to find a white T-shirt I truly loved. Most of the inexpensive ones I’ve picked up from fast-fashion retailers end up looking too sheer and shapeless after a wash or two. I wanted something high quality enough to pair with a blazer and trousers for work or throw on with straight-leg jeans and comfortable sneakers on the weekend.

Enter: NAADAM The Tee ($38). I’ve heard good things about the sustainable fashion brand’s cashmere, so I was intrigued by its version of a simple cotton T-shirt. Keep reading for my review of NAADAM The Tee. Spoiler alert: I’m a fan.

    Main Image

What’s the Criteria For a Good White T-Shirt?

A white T-shirt is endlessly versatile, so my ideal option would look equally good with everything from denim cutoffs to flowy maxi skirts to linen trousers. The material should be soft and comfortable, and most importantly, not see-through. A skin-tone bra shouldn’t peek through the fabric.

To test NAADAM The Tee, I wore it with a few outfits for different occasions. First, I paired it with drawstring shorts for a sunny backyard barbecue. Later, I wore it to dinner with a pair of linen trousers, a belt, and sandals.

What I Like About NAADAM The Tee

From the minute the T-shirt arrived, I was struck by the quality of the fabric. On the product listing, NAADAM says the fabric is “made from cotton, feels like cashmere” — and they’re not wrong. This T-shirt is so soft, it almost feels like microsuede. The softness combined with the heavier weight cotton really makes The Tee feel like a high-quality piece of clothing. The added heft of the fabric also keeps it from looking sheer.

NAADAM actually markets The Tee to both men and women and offers unisex sizing. The brand recommends women order one size down from their typical size for a relaxed, but slightly fitted feel. I ordered a size small instead of my usual medium, and felt it suited me well. The T-shirt fits boxy, creating a slightly retro look — especially when tucked in and belted. It added a slight ’90s feel to my outfits, which felt on-trend in a subtle way.

Unlike a lot of other women’s T-shirts on the market, The Tee is not cropped. As someone with a longer torso, I loved this cut. It was long enough to tuck into any pair of pants or skirt and was appropriate to wear to the office.

What to Consider Before Trying NAADAM The Tee

Before ordering NAADAM The Tee, consult the unisex size chart. I thought the brand’s recommendation to size down from your usual size was spot on — a medium would have definitely fit oversize on me. While I loved the fuller length of The Tee, people with shorter torsos might find it a tad too long.

The organic cotton fabric also has slightly more heft than the material of typical T-shirts, but I actually preferred the heavier weight. It made the shirt feel more elevated and luxurious than a run-of-the-mill tee. That said, if you find yourself overheating easily in hot weather, you might want to reserve this T-shirt for cooler days.

Who NAADAM The Tee Is Best For

I’d recommend this T-shirt to anyone willing to spend a little more for a closet staple they’ll wear over and over. It’s well worth investing slightly more than average fast-fashion prices for a T-shirt this comfortable, soft, and high quality. I have no doubt that it will hold up over many washes and more than pull its weight in my closet. Those with shorter torsos might find it a bit too long, though.

Additional Details About NAADAM The Tee

    • The Tee comes in seven neutral colors: white, ecru, sage, heather gray, fossil, navy, and black.
    • It’s available in unisex sizes from XXS to XXL.
    • The brand recommends hand washing the The Tee in cold water and laying it flat to dry.

Gap’s $50 “Easy” Jeans Give a Whole New Meaning to Comfortable Denim

    [ad_1]

Almost all of my favorite outfits feature a pair of jeans. Because of this, it’s no surprise that I have quite the collection: high-rise, low-rise, blue, black — you name it. However, it wasn’t until recently that I discovered the joy of elastic-waist jeans, and now I can’t stop raving about them to anyone who’ll listen. Enter the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans ($80), which combine the classic non-stretch denim feel with a sweatpants-like waistband. When I came across them for the first time, I assumed they were too good to be true (too soft!? too baggy!?) but I added them to my virtual shopping cart on a whim, and they exceeded my expectations in every way. Keep reading for my thorough review.

What I Love About the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans

What I love about these Gap jeans is how they look and feel. They feature a loose wide leg and non-stretch fabric that feels expensive and high quality. The elastic waist stays comfortable all day, and the cargo pockets add a trendy touch that I’m confident I won’t regret a year from now (unlike some other trends I’ve adopted in the past). I love teaming them with a basic tank top and accessories. Here, I’m wearing the super thick Gap Compact Jersey Brami ($24, originally $35) that makes it possible to go braless, styled with the Gap Vegan Leather Platform Flip Flops ($45) and Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag ($24, originally $50). (I’ve honestly worn this combination more times that I’d like to admit.)

I’m also a big fan of where these jeans land on my waist, which is a bit lower than what I’d deem “high-rise,” as they’re described.

What’s Worth Noting About the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans

First, I think these jeans are more accurately described as mid-rise, not high-rise, because they sit between my hips and belly button. Other shoppers seem to agree, as several reviews on Gap’s website have mentioned this as well. However, I was delightfully surprised by the cut; it feels fresh and modern to embrace styles beyond the high-rise trend.

Another thing to note about the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans is that they run big. I usually wear a medium, but I sized down to a small and still achieved that perfect baggy fit. So definitely consider going down a size. While there aren’t many complaints, some shoppers did find them too roomy. As one reviewer noted, “I really want to like these jeans however they run about 2 sizes bigger.”

Who Are the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans Best For?

The Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans are perfect for those who prioritize both comfort and style when shopping for pants. They’re designed for those who love the feel of thick, non-stretch denim but occasionally prefer a gentler waistband.

Where Are the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans Available?

The Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans are available exclusively at Gap. You can purchase them on the brand’s website and at select in-store locations.

Additional Details About the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans

    • These jeans come in sizes XXS-XXL.
    • They also come in extended tall and petite sizes.
    • They’re machine-washable for easy care.

Future Collective with Jeneé Naylor Ruffle Ankle Length Dress ($40)

“The Red Floral Ruffle Ankle Length Dress is one of my favorites from this collection — it just screams vacation mode. This dress is made for dancing, especially with its side slit. The ruffles add dimension and movement, which is such a fun flair — I feel like I’m on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’

I am 5’1″, and this dress hits right below the ankle, so it’s better to wear heels with it if you want it off the ground. It also has adjustable straps, but you won’t be able to fully tighten the strap that has the ruffle detailing. It’s such a vibrant and bold summer dress I’ll be wearing for brunches, dinners, vacations, and salsa nights.” — Anvita Reddy, assistant editor, Commerce

  • This Free People Set Is My Go-To Summer Vacation Outfit

This Free People Set Is My Go-To Summer Vacation Outfit

    [ad_1]

Every editorial product is independently selected by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission.

One of my favorite things about going on vacation is planning my outfits (and yes, I do search for city-specific outfit inspiration on Pinterest). What I don’t love is then having to cut down my clothing options so they fit in a single carry-on bag. When you have limited space in your suitcase, there’s no room to bring pieces you aren’t sure about. Every ‘fit has to work — and that’s when a matching set can come in handy. Co-ords automatically look good together, and can help take the stress out of packing by guaranteeing there’s no space wasted on clothing items you’re uncertain about.

So when I was packing for an upcoming trip, I wanted to reach for the sets I already had in my closet. But most of the ones I owned were on the casual side — which is why Free People’s Donnie Short Set ($78) caught my eye when I was browsing the brand’s site. The two pieces — a flowy baby doll top with puff sleeves and matching bottoms — were stylish and on-trend, but also looked like something I could easily dress up or down depending on the occasion.

    Main Image

Having worn the set a few times before my trip, I’m sharing my honest thoughts on Free People’s Donnie Short Set — and why it may be worth adding to your summer outfit lineup, too.

What I Like About the Free People Donnie Short Set

When it comes to summer and travel-friendly clothes, I always look for cotton or linen fabrics that’ll keep me cool on hot days — and the Donnie Short Set immediately got some points when I saw it was made of cotton. It feels lightweight and breezy on, but isn’t thin or see-through like other cotton sets I’ve tried before. The two pieces also have some stretch in the bust and waistband of the shorts that make them comfortable for all-day wear, which is important if you’re doing a lot of walking, sitting, or indulging (I’d planned on doing all three).

Another thing I like about this Free People set is how effortlessly chic it is. The baby doll top’s almost empire waistline, puff sleeves, and bow-tie back instantly make me feel like I’m in my regency core era, à la “Bridgerton” — but the matching shorts bring the look back to the 21st century.

Finally, for my trip, I loved how easy it was to dress the cotton set up or down. I could easily style it with a pair of wedges and a statement bag or dress it down with a pair of sneakers. Another plus was that each item made for a great basic on its own. I could get away with wearing the summer whites together or separately with other pieces in my closet. The versatility of this set is ultimately what really won me over — and for that reason, I have no doubt that I’ll be wearing this on repeat both at home and on vacation.

What to Know Before Buying the Free People Donnie Short Set

I like how both pieces fit, but did decide to size down in this set because it’s flowy and has a good amount of stretch. I’m between sizes — medium and large — and found the top and bottom to be pretty roomy even after I went down to a medium. I will also note that it’s tricky to wear a bra with this shirt if you don’t want it to show through the cutout. I got around this with a sticky bra, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re thinking of buying the set.

Who the Free People Donnie Short Set Is Best For

This matching set is best for anyone who is looking for a comfortable and stylish outfit for summer. The two pieces are very easy to mix and match with other basics — so they’d also work great for anyone looking to expand their summer wardrobe.

Additional Details About the Free People Donnie Short Set

    • The Donnie Short Set is made of 100 percent cotton.
    • The set comes in 3 colors — Barbados Cherry, Optic White, and Brownie.
    • It is available in sizes XS-XL.

Where Is the Donnie Short Set Available to Shop?
