If you had told me six months ago that I’d be as keen on eating salads as I am now, I would not have believed you. I’ve had an aversion to uncooked leafy greens for pretty much my entire life — at least until recently. The moment of change occurred at a social dinner when someone put a Caesar salad in front of me, and I ate some to be polite. Since that moment, I haven’t been able to get enough. I now make salads at home regularly, but the first time I decided to make one for my office lunch I realized that doing so would be a challenge.
Although I owned plenty of Tupperware containers, I figured that storing all of my salad ingredients in the same plastic box would result in a soggy, room-temperature mess by the early afternoon. I put the notion of bringing a salad to the office out of my head and resigned myself to the fact that I’d just have to continue eating them at home. Then, I came across the S’Well Stainless Steel Salad Bowl Kit. Not only is it made from the perfect material for keeping produce fresh, but it also has multiple components that make taking and eating salads on the go a breeze. And, it comes in a bunch of cute colors!
The first thing you’ll notice about this salad bowl is its fun design. It comes in two sizes and 14 prints and colors when you shop it on Amazon; I opted for the Teakwood print. More importantly, the bowl is made of thin, sturdy stainless steel and features a silicone and BPA-free plastic leakproof lid. When you lift the lid, you’re met with a shallow stainless steel tray and a 2-ounce dressing container, which has its own tight-fitting silicone lid. The tray is where your salad toppings go, which means you can keep them separated from the main salad base.
Under the tray, you have the main compartment for your leafy greens or grains, and because the bowl has an impressive 64-ounce capacity, you don’t have to worry about not having space for enough food to keep you sated until your next meal. The salad kit is not microwaveable, but it is dishwasher-safe. At nearly 8 inches tall and 4.5 inches wide, the container is not exactly compact, but if you have a flexible lunch box, you might be able to make it fit inside.
Although I still sometimes use plastic food storage containers, they’re not my favorite. They tend to absorb food colors and smells, and they usually warp over time. I don’t experience either of those problems with the S’well salad kit. Its stainless steel construction hasn’t acquired a single dent in the couple of months I’ve been using the bowl, and it releases food easily during washing. What I love the most, though, is that the stainless steel keeps lettuce cold and fresh all day, so my greens are never warm or wilting by the time lunch rolls around. Also, because my parents like to lecture me about the purported dangers of microplastics on a biweekly basis, I’ve become wary about eating out of plastic containers all the time. I do have slightly more peace of mind eating out of stainless steel, which is nice.
As for the kit’s other components, the toppings tray is also a game-changer. I usually cook some plant-based “chicken” to throw on top of the lettuce, but the idea of packing steaming-hot protein onto greens and letting them sit together like that for hours is mildly revolting. Also, I’ve been loving pomegranate seeds on my salads lately, but those can also make the lettuce soggy, so it’s super convenient to be able to store those ingredients separately. Of course, the dressing container is also a huge help. It has the perfect capacity, and I’m saying this as someone who likes a decent amount of dressing — to the point where the salad is just shy of being drenched. I’ve found that both the dressing container’s lid and the main bowl’s lid slip into place seamlessly and don’t budge. I’ve taken the kit along during my subway commute a handful of times and have never had problems with leaking or spillage.
Finally, I adore the look of this salad bowl kit. Most food storage containers aren’t particularly stylish, but the Teakwood print on this one makes it look so trendy. Since getting the kit, I’ve used it for meals beyond just salads. The size and material of the bowl make it great for storing a variety of foods, from pasta to a homemade Chipotle situation. I can’t recommend this kit enough, so be sure to select your favorite color and snag your own.

I’ve loved to cook since I was a kid, but one thing my parents can tell you is that I’ve never been particularly good at the cleaning-up part. One chore I routinely put off? Sweeping.
I don’t mind the actual sweeping itself; it’s the bending down to try to collect everything into the dustpan and still having some remnants left behind that I don’t like. Recently, though, I came across a product that solves this problem. And while I won’t tell you I suddenly love sweeping, the EyeVac Air has made it less of a hassle — and that’s a win in my book.
EyeVac has made a name for itself with touchless and cordless vacuums. The EyeVac Air is one of three touchless vacuums the brand offers. The appliance has an opening at the bottom to directly sweep crumbs, dust, hair, and dirt into, and it will instantly vacuum it up — no bending down or trips to the trash can required. You can set it to automatic or manual. In manual mode, it will vacuum when you press the activate button; in automatic mode, it will vacuum anytime its infrared sensor is triggered.
Plus, the EyeVac Air also has a built-in air purifier. In fact, it’s the only one of the three touchless vacuums from the brand that does. The brand states it can snatch 99.7% of pollutants from the air — something that makes me feel better while I’m sweeping up the dust from my floor. And yes, the vacuum and the air purifier can run at the same time.
The EyeVac Air is the most expensive of the three models at $249. And while I believe it’s worth it, the EyeVac Home is $169 if you’re wanting something a little more affordable and don’t need the air purifier feature.
Initially, I wasn’t sure what I’d think of this appliance. Could the EyeVac Air truly make me not dread sweeping? The answer is yes, it actually has improved my kitchen-sweeping experience.
I like the automatic mode best. The motion sensor at the bottom is pretty sensitive, so as soon as my broom came close, it immediately started vacuuming. And when I moved the EyeVac Air after I was done, there weren’t any crumbs or spots of dust left behind like I would typically have with a dustpan. Plus, the compartment that collects all the yucky stuff is super easy to remove, dump out, and put back — something I find isn’t true on every standard vacuum.
The air purifier component is a cool addition to this appliance, especially while I’m sweeping. While it won’t replace the dedicated air purifier in my living room, which gives me a read on the air quality, it is just as quiet as my other unit.
The EyeVac Air comes in four sleek colorways. And though it is on the pricey side, it has changed my attitude toward sweeping. I actually kind of look forward to it now, and that feels like progress.

I’ve been a fan of the Heyday Coconut Curry Chickpeas ever since, always keeping several cans on hand to crack open when I need a quick lunch or dinner.
These fully cooked chickpeas are mixed with a creamy sauce incorporating ingredients like coconut milk, ginger, lemongrass, curry powder, and turmeric. When fall sets in, I immediately break out my pots, pans, and Dutch ovens to make soups, pastas, savory oatmeal (my current hyperfixation), and more comfort dishes. While I love my Stanley Tucci-approved Dutch oven for making big batches of soup or pumpkin mac and cheese, sometimes I need something that’s a little smaller.
I’ve tried a ton of different pans (it’s quite literally my job), but there’s one I keep coming back to time and again for my favorite cozy meals: Made In’s ProCoat Nonstick Saucier. It’s a perfect size for my day-to-day cooking. Plus, its nonstick interior is so good that it’s earned a permanent spot on my stove.
Founded in 2017, Made In is a chef-approved cookware brand making all sorts of kitchen essentials, including stainless clad, carbon steel, enameled cast iron, and nonstick pots, pans, and more. Our editors are big fans, too — they recommend the brand’s Carbon Steel Griddle, Quarter Sheet Pan, and ProCoat Nonstick Frying Pan, among other pieces of cookware and bakeware.
After seeing that Made In’s ProCoat Nonstick Saucier was so well-loved by shoppers (it has a 4.9-star rating!), I knew I needed to give it a try. There were two options available: a 3-quart and a 5-quart (which is now sold out). I opted for the 3-quart.
This Italian-made saucier has a nonstick surface on the inside, while the rest of the pan is stainless clad. Because it’s a saucier, the sides are rounded instead of straight, which makes it easier to incorporate everything while you’re stirring. It’s also pretty easy to clean by hand, thanks to the rounded edges and nonstick surface. Plus, this pan is oven-safe up to 500°F.
My go-to dish to make in this saucier is savory oatmeal. I’ve loved using this pan for it because the oats and chicken stock don’t end up getting stuck to it while they cook down (an issue I’ve had when making this dish in other pans). At the end, the evenly cooked oats slide right out of the pan and into a bowl. It’s a seamless cooking experience every time, and cleanup is so easy too. It only takes me a couple minutes to hand-wash it, and I never have to scrub hard.
After a few weeks of using this saucier, it has earned a permanent spot on my stove. Now, whenever I need to boil water, make a quick serving of pasta, or whip up some savory oatmeal for lunch, this pan is the one I’m reaching for. I even boiled soft pretzel dough in it recently and was amazed to find it could hold eight cups of water (and it still had about four cups of room to spare!).
At $189 this saucier is pricey, but I use it almost every day and know I will continue to for a long time to come. So for me, it’s well-worth it — especially with all the holiday cooking that’s about to happen in my kitchen.

Founded in January 2024, Gato is a newcomer in the snack scene. The brand makes three varieties of dark chocolate-coated dates stuffed with different nut butters: pistachio butter, almond butter, and cashew butter and walnuts (my personal fave). All are finished off with a touch of sea salt for a delectable salty-sweet bite, plus they’re gluten-free, vegan, and certified kosher.
As much as I’d love to keep them in the beloved candy drawer, they’re meant to be stored in the fridge for up to six months or freezer for up to a year. If your sweet tooth is anything like mine, they probably won’t last that long. But, you know … just in case.
I opted for a tube of the cashew butter and walnut stuffed dates. Frankly, I would buy these for the packaging alone; it’s so cute! The cashew butter dates come in a light pink tube that reminds me of the way tea bags are sometimes packaged. It’s so dainty and sweet — the kind of thing you’d want to pull out at an afternoon tea. I can’t get enough.
The dates themselves, though, are what keep me coming back. They’re caramel-y and chewy, but not in a super-sticky kind of way. The cashew butter is creamy, while the walnuts offer a little crunch. The dark chocolate is slightly bitter and very cocoa-forward with a bit of a floral note. And it’s all rounded out by the sprinkle of sea salt on top. I don’t say this lightly: It’s truly a perfect bite.
I’m someone who always wants a little dessert at the end of the day, and these are so nice to have in the fridge for when I want something decadent but not too heavy or filling. Just seeing the adorable pink tube in my fridge brings me joy! Next up, I’ll be trying the pistachio butter one.

I love a good T.J. Maxx find — especially if it’s something that looks way more expensive than it is. I was so excited when I came across these mDesign glass canisters the other day that are exactly that: They look expensive, and they are something I know I can use in my kitchen for years to come even when fall is over!
The glass canisters come in two different colors: a deep ruby reddish-brown and a rich forest green. That’s the trick to finding all of the gems before the hoards of TikTokers get to them first!

Mason jars are truly one of the best inventions of our time. They’re simple, and that’s why they work for so many things. In fact, the design has always worked so well that the classic thick bell-shaped jar with an aluminum screw top lid has changed very little since it was first invented in 1858. But over the years, Ball has released its jars in a variety of colors and shapes, and as a huge fan of the brand, I was so excited when I saw it released four-packs of jars in an adorable vintage dusty rose color.
Ball says the jars are inspired by the styles of the 1920s and 1930s, giving off an authentic vintage look. I love how the color matches that nostalgic vibe, and I could also see them fitting perfectly with cottagecore or mid-century modern decor.
The jars are made of a thick, dishwasher-safe glass that’s sturdy and pretty difficult to chip or break (although not impossible, so be careful!). They’re an adorable and easy way to add a pop of color to your cabinets or provide a dose of serotonin as you drink your iced coffee in the morning — and shoppers can’t get enough.
“These are the cutest Mason jars I have purchased,” one Target reviewer wrote. Another added, “I became so sick of glasses breaking all the time, so we only use these now. Haven’t had any issues with them breaking, and they are beautiful!”

I personally love using them to pack my lunches — just add each ingredient of your salad or pasta to create different tiers, and when you’re ready to eat you can just dump it all into a bowl and enjoy. They’re also great for meal-prepping quick and easy breakfasts, like overnight oats or chia pudding. (Ball actually has an entire Instagram account dedicated to different canning and meal recipes that you make in their jars!).
The best part is that when you’re not using the jars to store or make food in, you can use them as decor all around the home. The dusty rose is the perfect vase for colorful flowers, or you can put them in your room to store jewelry or knickknacks.

I’m not normally one to add things to my kitchen counters, but when they’re cute and functional, I’ll make an exception. First, bread boxes (for storing things other than bread) took social media feeds by storm, and now there’s another vintage storage solution finding its way into kitchens across the country. Say hello to the apothecary cabinet: a typically wooden chest featuring a bunch of tiny, individual drawers with handles. They’re adorable, and I, for one — along with all of TikTok, Pinterest, and Instagram, it seems — am obsessed.
Apothecary cabinets have made such a major comeback that there’s no need to scour Facebook Marketplace or the flea market to find one anymore. Even Target has a $70 version you can have shipped straight to your home — and Amazon, of course, offers a ton of gorgeous apothecary cabinets, too.
You might be asking: But what were apothecary cabinets used for back when they first gained popularity? And what are they good for now (besides being cute and idiosyncratic)? Let’s get into it.
Apothecary cabinets were originally used by apothecaries, who were essentially 17th-century traveling medicine men — what we might consider pharmacists today. They peddled the cures of the day, typically herbs and tinctures. Apothecaries traveled with compact cabinets with lots of drawers, which held these medicines. Eventually, as colonial America became more settled, doctors, barbers, and even blacksmiths used apothecary cabinets to store their own remedies and supplies. The cabinets evolved to become larger and more suited to stationary use. Over time, apothecary cabinets became pretty much obsolete, until designers and collectors began seeking them out.
Now, they’re back in fashion and have become far more accessible for a little vintage touch. While you could keep one anywhere in the house to store everything from craft supplies to hardware, they’re especially useful in the kitchen. Before the launch earlier this week, I got to go to Waco, Texas, to meet Joanna and try the baked goods that are now in stores. While I would happily keep all six stocked in my freezer, there are two that I’ll definitely be keeping on hand through the holiday season (at least!).
You probably know Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper, the home renovation show she created with her husband, Chip. You might also have seen her cooking show, Magnolia Table, or read one of her three Magnolia Table cookbooks — all named after her Waco restaurant, Magnolia Table. And now, instead of trekking to Waco to try her food, you can enjoy it from the comfort of your own home. This week, Joanna’s frozen baked goods line dropped in Targets across the country. There are six delicious goodies to choose from.
Each box is just $10, and some can be made in as little as 15 minutes. Homestyle cinnamon rolls, banana bread, cookies, and biscuits on demand? Yes, please.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad chocolate chip cookie, but these ones from Magnolia Table seriously impressed me. They’re not too sweet, have plenty of semi-sweet chocolate chips, and taste homemade. Joanna Gaines mentioned that her dad likes to eat chocolate chip cookies slathered with homemade whipped cream and dunked into black coffee — so that’s exactly what I tried. And let me tell you: Her dad is onto something there.
I really enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies for a sweet bite, but for something a little more savory, the buttermilk biscuits are perfect. You’d never know they were frozen. Like the cookies, they taste homemade.
Plus, they’re buttery and have beautiful, flaky layers. Biscuits and gravy is my favorite breakfast, so I tried these biscuits with some white gravy. They held up under the thick gravy and added just the right amount of richness. I also love that I don’t have to make them from scratch now whenever I want biscuits and gravy. This is way easier and, frankly, just as good.
