  • The Eerie Promise William Made to Diana Right Before Her Death: ‘Don’t Worry, Mummy… ‘

    [ad_1]

It was a promise that was never fulfilled. Prince William offered a kind sentiment to his mother after her high-profile divorce from Charles.

In the wake of the divorce from Charles, Diana received a lump sum payment of 17 million pounds, with an additional 350,000 pounds annually to run her private office. She also gained joint custody over Prince William and Prince Harry. At the time of the divorce, Diana also lost her Her Royal Highness titles, which left her “distraught,” per The Mirror.

“Losing the HRH meant it was no longer necessary for friends or staff to bow or curtsy in Diana’s presence,” The Mirror said. “It also meant she would now have to curtsy to her husband, her two sons, and a whole host of minor royals.”

A young Prince William made a promise to his mother, saying, “Don’t worry, Mummy, I will give it [her HRH title] back to you one day when I am king.” The interaction led her to tears, as reported by her butler, Paul Burrell. Diana never got to see the change, as she passed away nearly a year after the divorce was finalized.

However, she would still be known as Diana, Princess of Wales after the divorce was finalized. Queen Elizabeth did get a final say in it, saying “there had to be a distance between them.” The late monarch “had to decide on the future title, but she always made it clear to Diana, which was comforting, that she would have all the access she wanted to the boys,” Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton told E! News. “The one thing [Diana] feared above all else was that the boys would be taken away from her, and she knew that the royal family had the constitutional and the legal right to do that if they wanted. But the Queen made it perfectly clear that wouldn’t happen.”

After Princess Diana‘s death, Buckingham Palace consulted the Spencer family and confirmed that her HRH title would not be restored posthumously, as Princess Diana herself would not have wanted any change to the style and title. Her brother Charles said at her funeral that his sister “needed no royal title to continue to generate her particular brand of magic.”

As Prince William gets closer to the throne, he reportedly aims to strip one person’s titles: Prince Andrew’s. According to several sources to RadarOnline, Prince William is determined to remove his uncle from the Firm. “The public deserves to know their monarchy is free from scandal,” Prince William reportedly told his inner circle, per the outlet.

  • Kate Middleton defended by Princess Diana’s hairdresser after criticism of new blonde hair

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Princess Diana’s hairdresser is coming to Kate Middleton‘s defense after “evil” remarks about her blonde look surfaced.

Sam McKnight, who was the late princess’s hairdresser from 1990 until her death in 1997, shared a statement to Instagram explaining how “horrified” he is over the recent conversation about Middleton’s hair.

On Sept. 4, Middleton and her husband, Prince William, visited the Natural History Museum in London and the princess notably had a different hairstyle. Since the images surfaced, mixed reactions have been shared about Middleton’s long, blonde look.

“I am shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted by all the nasty comments about the Princess of Wales today. A woman’s hair is very personal to her, it’s armour, defence, confidence and so much more,” McKnight wrote on Instagram.

He continued, “I cannot believe how evil and lacking in any kind of empathy are the comments, the majority made apparently by other women, attacking a vulnerable other young woman, who has no choice, by dint of who she married, and the role she took on, to bravely face the public.”

McKnight mentioned Middleton’s cancer diagnosis and said he believes she would “rather be away from the public arena.” In March 2024, Middleton revealed that she had been diagnosed with a form of cancer.

“I am shocked, horrified, dismayed and disgusted by all the nasty comments about the Princess of Wales today.”

    — Sam McKnight

“She has brilliantly and quietly, unselfishly represented our country, the soft power we still have as a nation. Cancer affects individuals differently, but is life-changing for everyone. So FFS LEAVE HER ALONE. SHAME ON YOU,” McKnight concluded.

In September 2024, Middleton announced she was cancer-free, describing the nine-month ordeal as “incredibly tough” for her family, but said that it left her with “a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”

  • William Thinks Harry’s Alleged Plan to Make a Competing Princess Diana Documentary Is a ‘Slap in the Face’—It ‘Sickens’ Him

    [ad_1]

Lately, it feels like the closer we get to one of the feuds that have consumed the British royal family for the past few years being fixed, another one pops up. King Charles and Prince Harry are closer to not just reconciling, but meeting in person. But there are reports that Prince William and King Charles are now not seeing eye to eye on the monarchy in general, and Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship still seems far from good terms.

Particularly due to a new report that indicates the brothers could end up making rival documentaries about Princess Diana to mark the 30th anniversary of her death. Prince Harry’s Archewell production company is rumored to already be in talks about the documentary, and sources told The Daily Beast that William will feel like he has to make his own if Harry does go ahead.

Related: Who inherited what from Princess Diana?

“As everyone knows he hates Netflix with a passion, just like all the royals do back in England because of The Crown and the way they were portrayed on the show,” the Examiner. reported. “The show completely trashed their grandfather and essentially accused him of being a cheating dog, and it gave a very nasty portrayal of their father too.”

“It sickens William that his own brother would work with them at all,” the source added, “let alone on something related to their beloved mother.” Not just that, the source also said, “[Harry] knows exactly how his brother feels about Netflix, so the fact that he’s going ahead with this is such a slap in the face. It’s like nothing is sacred with him when it comes to the almighty American dollar.”

King Charles is also doing a documentary with Netflix; it was recently announced. The King is collaborating with actor Idris Elba for a documentary about The King’s Trust, a charity King Charles founded in 1976.

As for a possible Princess Diana documentary, one executive at an independent production house in the U.K told The Daily Beast. “Harry is looking to do a series about Diana in 2027. They want to get the right partners, and we have had a conversation with them. I’m sure other production companies have too. An inside account of the implosion of Charles and Diana’s marriage and Harry’s story of Diana’s death and its aftermath would be the TV sensation of all time.”

But a friend of William explained to the outlet that this is not what the brothers had agreed upon. “The film the brothers made for the 20th anniversary was meant to be the last word. William made that very clear at the time. But of course things have changed since then. If Harry is now going to do another massive Netflix show effectively claiming her legacy, William will have to fight back, whether that’s with an interview or a documentary of his own. The whole situation is just very sad.”

One feud is on its way to being fixed, another one seems to be deepening. It truly feels like there’s no way to win for the British royal family. Or, no way to be at peace.

  • What Did Prince Harry and Prince William Really Do at King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Wedding?

    [ad_1]

Prince William and Prince Harry officially welcomed Queen Camilla as their stepmother on April 9, 2005. At the time, the whole world was watching the second marriage of King Charles III—then the Prince of Wales—who divorced the late Princess Diana nine years earlier.

Grant Harrold, the monarch’s former butler, shared excerpt from his book, The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, to the British newspaper The Telegraph on the occasion of its publication. One of the passages contains a sweet memory of King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s big day. But it was above all the reactions of Princes William and Harry that struck the former butler.

“At the end of the festivities, Charles and Camilla were catching a flight to head straight to Birkhall [on the Balmoral estate],” he writes in the book. “We all went outside to wave them off and laughed as we saw William and Harry had decorated their car with ‘Just Married.’ As they drove off through the arches to cheers, the boys raced after the car.”

Charles and Camilla pose with their children, Prince Harry, Prince William, Laura and Tom Parker Bowles, in Windsor Castle’s white drawing room for group photo after their wedding at the Guildhall in April 2005.

There are, however, other versions of this anecdote, less poetic than the picture painted by Harrold.

In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry tells a very different story. “There are published reports that Willy and I snuck out of the church and hung JUST MARRIED signs on their car. I don’t think so. I might’ve hung a sign: BE HAPPY. If I’d thought of it at the time,” he wrote. According to the book, the two brothers instead asked their father not to marry his beloved. “We support you, we said. We endorse Camilla, we said. Just please don’t marry her. Just be together, Pa.”

One thing’s for sure: a mystery remains, and only the principals involved know the truth.

  • Kim Kardashian Wore a Princess Diana Necklace & Some Fans Are Not Happy About It

Kim Kardashian Wore a Princess Diana Necklace & Some Fans Are Not Happy About It

    [ad_1]

When it comes to controversial fashion choices, Kim Kardashian might just be the reigning queen—but her latest look featuring Princess Diana‘s famous cross necklace has some royal followers clutching their pearls.

The reality star and business mogul turned heads at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala when she stepped out wearing Princess Diana’s iconic Attallah Cross necklace—but it wasn’t just the historical jewelry that got people talking. The 44-year-old entrepreneur styled the precious pendant, which she purchased at a Sotheby’s auction in 2023 for nearly $200,000, with a white Gucci gown featuring a dramatically plunging neckline. The combination quickly sparked debate on social media, with royal enthusiasts and fashion critics weighing in on the risqué pairing.

The piece itself has quite the story: Originally created by Garrard in the 1920s, the cross features stunning square-cut amethysts surrounded by 5.25 carats of circular-cut diamonds. Princess Diana famously wore the pendant at the 1987 Birthright charity gala, pairing it elegantly with a purple velvet Catherine Walker gown.

Kardashian’s modern interpretation of the historic piece included layering it with pearl necklaces and completing the look with an ivory cape-style coat. Her beauty choices nodded to vintage glamour, with her dark hair styled in a flippy bob and makeup featuring a purple eyeshadow that cleverly matched the amethyst stones.

However, social media users were quick to express their thoughts on the styling choice. “She had the audacity to put it on with this dress. Purely tone deaf, uneducated narcissistic unattractive brain,” one critic wrote on social media, per OK Magazine! Another added, “If you’re going to wear such a sacred religious symbol at least wear it with some class as Diana did. Show some respect…”

This isn’t the first time Kardashian has made headlines for wearing historical fashion pieces. Who could forget the controversy surrounding her wearing Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday Mr. President” dress at the 2022 Met Gala? The SKIMS founder seems to have developed quite a knack for acquiring and wearing pieces that were previously considered untouchable—from Mugler archives to Janet Jackson’s iconic ensembles.

The LACMA Art + Film Gala, sponsored by Gucci, brings together notable figures from art, film, fashion, and entertainment to support the museum’s programming and initiatives. While the event honored filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and sculptor Simone Leigh, it was Kardashian’s bold fashion choice that dominated the conversation—proving once again that when it comes to making headlines, she knows exactly what she’s doing.

Prince Harry, In NYC For Climate Week, Spoke About His Mother at Diana Awards

    [ad_1]

Prince Harry is in New York City for Climate Week, but on Monday, he carried out a series of midtown Manhattan engagements that honored two of Princess Diana’s lasting charitable legacies. At the Concordia Summit, an annual gathering of businesses and nonprofits, the prince spoke onstage with recent winners of the Diana Award. Founded in 1999, the award honors young people who have made positive change in their local areas.

With Christina Williams from Jamaica and Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang from Indonesia, Harry spoke about the importance of thinking about mental health from a systemic perspective.  He said that the honorees of the award were carrying out works that were “so true to how my mother lived her life.”  The Diana Award’s longtime CEO Tessy Ojo also announced that the charity would launch a decade-long focus on mental wellness.

Onstage, Harry told Williams and Zhang that young people like them help keep him hopeful about the future. “The courage that you have gives me hope because every single one of us needs courage in order to move the dial and, and, and create positive change in today’s world,” he said. “Thank you to you guys for giving me—and probably a lot of other people in this room—hope. Now we need to listen, constantly, listen and then act on the advice and the vision that you have because otherwise it’s your future that’s been stolen, and that is unacceptable.”

The memory of his mother was central to Harry’s afternoon event with the HALO Trust, an anti-landmine charity that had been one of Diana’s central focuses during the final years of her life. The prince was joined by Senator Chris Coons and Angola’s Foreign Minister Tete António for a panel in front of a group of nonprofit professionals and funders that Harry called a “band of true believers hoping for a mine-free world,” which was simultaneously translated in English and Angolan Portuguese for the international guest.

Charles Spencer shares incredible family photo hours after shocking fire at his home

    [ad_1]

Charles Spencer took to social media on Sunday with a touching family photo following the shock fire at his property, Althorp House, on Saturday.

The ninth Earl Spencer, 60, shared a photo of a newspaper cutting featuring his great-grandfather, Jack Spencer, the former Lord Chamberlain to King Edward VII. The impressive cutting showed Jack welcoming the Tsar and Tsarina of Russia to Cowes on the Isle of Wight 115 years ago.

Captioning the photo, he wrote: “A newspaper cutting proudly inserted by my grandfather, Jack Spencer, in his 1909 scrapbook—recording my great-grandfather’s role in welcoming the doomed Tsar and Tsarina of Russia to Cowes on the Isle of Wight, that summer, 115 years ago.

“My great-grandfather, who was Lord Chamberlain to King Edward VII, sat next to the Tsarina on two consecutive days, and he wrote of these encounters in his unpublished diaries.”

Charles then explained that this special piece of history served as inspiration for one of the chapters of his new book, The Rabbit Hole, based on his weekly podcast with Reverend Richard Coles and Professor Cat Jarman, which is out in October.

The update came just hours after the Earl revealed there had been a fire “started by youths in balaclavas” in an empty industrial unit on the Althorp Estate on Saturday.

Princess Diana Wanted To Celebrate ‘Her Independence’ In 1994 Post Divorce Settlement With King Charles: Source

    [ad_1]

Ahead of Princess Diana’s 54th birth anniversary, the royal source blurted out a major revelation about the princess’ separation from King Charles. While the royal couple officially signed their divorce papers in 1996, both the former Prince and Princess of Wales moved on from their relationship in 1993 itself.

Julia Peyton Jones, a royal gallerist, recalled meeting Princess Diana on June 29, 1994, when she arrived at a Vanity Fair gala wearing the iconic black dress. Jones shared that Lady Diana was enjoying her independence at the time.

Princess Diana’s freedom show at the 1994 gala

The former Princess of Wales attending the 1994 gala in the black off-shoulder dress has been penned as iconic as well as controversial in the books. However, the audience present at the event to greet the lady described her dressing and personality as the symbols of freedom. The royal source revealed that “she wanted to enjoy her independence” after separating from her husband, Prince Charles.

In her book, The Lady Di Look Book, the writer, Eloise Moran, described her meeting with Diana. Moran wrote, “Her head was held high, and she had a grin on her face.”

The author further penned, “No more shoulder pads, just her naked shoulders, strong and stoic. Around her neck was a pearl and sapphire choker that she had worn at many official royal engagements during the eighties—inarguably a nod to her ill-fated marriage and past life, worn like a badge of honor, contrasted against a powerfully risqué ensemble that signaled a sense of an awakening and a new dawn.”

The year 1994 was marked as controversial for the royal family, as not only was the wedding of the decade on the verge of ending, but Princess Diana overpowered Prince Charles’ statements by appearing in the “revenge dress,” as the media had described it.

From her book, Moran shared an excerpt that read, “It was the ultimate power move and the first step in the confident final chapter of her story.” It further stated, “That evening marked the turning point in Diana’s personal narrative.”

Princess Diana continued to enjoy her independence throughout the summer of 1994, emerging as a new public figure.

Meghan Markle Wears A Sentimental Piece of Princess Diana’s Jewelry In Nigeria

    [ad_1]

Prince Harry, the younger son of the late Princess Diana, has been vocal about keeping his mother’s memory and legacy alive. One way he includes the former Princess of Wales in his daily life is by sharing some of her treasured jewelry with his wife, Meghan Markle.

Meghan was spotted Saturday during the couple’s trip to Nigeria wearing a delicate diamond cross pendant on a gold chain, a necklace that once belonged to Princess Diana. According to People, the sweet jewelry was a recent gift from Harry to Meghan.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending a handful of days abroad without their two children, appearing at engagements around the Invictus Games and their other efforts. Harry, for instance, played volleyball against wounded veterans. He lost.

Meghan doesn’t just dust off her late mother-in-law’s jewels for special occasions: Two of the diamonds in her tri-stone engagement ring also belonged to Diana, and Harry had them set into the special piece of jewelry for his 2017 proposal so his mother would part of the occasion.

She began wearing Diana’s pieces immediately after marrying Harry, donning an aquamarine cocktail ring belonging to her for her wedding reception, keeping it very visible as the newlyweds waved to admirers from their car, and has been spotted wearing a Cartier watch that Diana favored. She also integrates color schemes and nods at the mother-in-law she never met with fashion choices alongside her jewelry pulls, and was reportedly dubbed “Di 2” by some palace insiders early in her royal career.

Charles Spencer Shares a Photo of Princess Diana in Her Primary School Uniform

    [ad_1]

Princess Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer, recently published a memoir called A Very Private School, where he discusses abuse and neglect at British boarding schools, including his own experiences. In the run-up to the publication, he has been sharing happier memories from his childhood to his social media accounts, including a rarely seen photograph from approximately 1967, which shows Diana and Spencer posing on a swing set along with their mother, Frances Shand Kydd. On Wednesday, he shared another rare photograph showing Diana and Charles in crimson uniforms on their way to elementary school.

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

In the photo caption, Spencer explained he and Diana attended school together in Norfolk before he attended Maidwell Hall, the boarding school he writes about in his memoir. “My first day of school, in September 1968: my father took this photograph of me and my sister, Diana, just before he drove us to Silfield, a really lovely primary school in King’s Lynn, Norfolk,” he said. “The headmistress was Miss Jean Lowe, a warm and thoughtful lady who loved her boys and girls. I was there till 1972, when I headed off to the place I call—in my memoir—A Very Private School.”

In February 2024, Spencer said that he found his original crimson uniform jacket in the attic at Althorp House, the family estate where he currently lives with his wife, Karen Spencer. In the 2000s, an exhibition about Diana’s life included a few artifacts from her time at Silfield School, including her uniform jacket. According to The Daily Telegraph, it also included a report card showing that the future princess was deemed “good” at religious knowledge and geography, “fairly good” at history, and “very good” at writing though she “must be more careful where she puts capital letters.”

In a recent interview with People, Spencer said that he believed that Diana was unaware of the abuse he details in his memoir and likely did not experience something similar when she went to boarding school. “I don’t remember us ever really discussing what we were going through. She went to a very gentle place, I believe,” he said. “We would reconnect for the school holidays, and I don’t remember ever talking about it with her.”

  • What we know about Princess Diana’s driver Henri Paul

What we know about Princess Diana’s driver Henri Paul

    [ad_1]

DRIVER and bodyguard Henri Paul died on August 31, 1997, when the car he was driving crashed in Paris.

The horror smash, which also killed Princess Diana and her partner Dodi Al Fayed, has become the subject of much speculation in the years that have passed since.

    1

    Who was Henri Paul?

Henri Paul was a French chauffeur who was born in July 1956.

After growing up in Lorient, on the west coast of France, Henri joined the French Air Force.

He reached the rank of captain by the age of 29 and left the military shortly after.

He later pursued a career in security and served as Head of Security at the luxury Hotel Ritz in Paris.

Henri is reported to have had a reputation as a “macho action man” who loved being around celebrities and high-profile people as part of his role at the famous hotel.

An inquest into Princess Diana’s death heard that he had been privately treated for alcoholism but his family have denied he had a drinking problem.

How did he come to drive Princess Diana on the night she died?

Henri picked up Princess Diana and film producer Dodi from Le Bourget airport outside Paris on the morning of August 31, 1997.

The couple, whose romance had only gone public weeks before, had reportedly planned to stay at the Ritz as it was owned by Dodi’s father Mohammed Al Fayed.

Mohammed passed away in 2023 and was buried next to his son.

On the fateful day in 1997 Henri, who is said to have been instructed to drive the hired black 1994 Mercedes-Benz to keep the Princess out of the media’s eye, took Diana on a shopping trip before finishing his shift.

He later agreed to return to the hotel and drive Dodi and Diana the short distance from the hotel to Dodi’s apartment near the Arc de Triomphe.

He was said to have been “over-excited” at the prospect of spending time with the princess.

Netflix film scenes for The Crown near the location of the tragic car crash that killed Princess Diana in 1997

There was a three-hour period between the end of Henri’s shift and his return to the hotel where nobody knows where he was.

Blood analysis results from his post-mortem suggest he spent the time drinking as he was found to be three-times over the French drink-drive limit.

A post-mortem also found traces of anti-depressants and anti-psychotic medicine in his system.

Evidence from a Ritz bar bill show he had two Ricards – a French aniseed spirit – while waiting for Diana and Dodi to leave the hotel.

How was he behaving in the lead-up to the crash?

An inquest into Diana’s death in 2008 found paparazzi photographers and Henri were to blame for her “unlawful killing”.

The inquest heard testimonies from bar staff working at the Ritz on the fateful night with one, Alain Willaumez, saying Henri was “drunk” and had been “walking like a clown” hours before the crash.

CCTV images from the Ritz do not show any evidence of drunken behaviour.

Security footage revealed at the inquest does show him appearing to wave at photographers just moments before Diana and Dodi left the hotel.

The court was told Paul had goaded waiting photographers, saying: “You won’t be able to catch up.”

The trio, and Diana’s bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones, entered Paris’ Alma tunnel in the now-infamous Mercedes minutes after leaving the Ritz just before midnight.

The car was travelling around double the 30mph speed limit.

The accident happened because Henri Paul was taking alcohol and was driving the vehicle. That’s why the accident happened.

Princess Diana’s former bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones

What did police and the inquest jury believe about Henri Paul?

After 22 hours of deliberations, an inquest jury ruled Diana had been unlawfully killed as a result of Henri’s drinking driving and photographers chasing the vehicle.

Rees-Jones, the sole survivor of the crash, has said that he believes Henri’s drinking had been the cause of the accident.

“The accident happened because Henri Paul was taking alcohol and was driving the vehicle. That’s why the accident happened,” he said in 2007.

What do the driver’s family believe happened to him?

Henri’s father Jean told The Mirror in 2017 that he believes Diana was deliberately killed in a plot to stop her marrying a Muslim man.

He said his son was “collateral damage” in the scheme.

Despite a string of official enquiries ruling Diana and Dodi died in a tragic accident, Jean insists they were victims of an establishment plot.

Jean also believes samples showing his son had alcohol in his system could have been tampered with after his death.

He said: “Diana was killed and my son was killed. I believe they were both murdered.

“My son was simply collateral damage of a plot to kill Diana and they killed him as well.”

He added: “Even inside Scotland Yard there are two sides… One believes there was a secret plot to kill Diana, the other believes it was a genuine accident.”

Everything you need to know about Princess Diana’s final years

After years of separation, Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced in 1996.

In 1997, Princess Diana spent her summer in the south of France and Italy. During August, she visited Sarajevo, Bosnia, to highlight the fight against landmines.

By the end of the month, the Princess of Wales and Dodi Al-Fayed travelled to Paris together.

It was revealed that Princess Diana stayed longer than planned in Paris due to a row over her land mine campaign.

Travelling in a black Mercedes Benz, Princess Diana was involved in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel on August 31, 1997.

The Princess of Wales died at the age of 36.

Her funeral was held on September 6, 1997. As her coffin made the journey from Kensington Palace to Westminister Abbey, Prince William and Prince Harry walked behind their late mother.

Princess Diana’s mother, Frances Shand Kydd, and sisters, Jane Fellowes and Sarah McCorquodale, also attended the funeral.

    Have You Seen Kate Middleton?

    [ad_1]

WANTED: Kate Middleton, The Princess of Wales, presumed kidnapped by King Charles and the Royal Family unless returned to our TV screens immediately.

I’m not one to follow the
Royal Family — all I know is that Queen Elizabeth may be reincarnated into Trisha Paytas’ baby, Malibu Barbie, and they presumably disappeared Princess Di. And while my phone didn’t scream with a missing persons report, my Twitter (X?) timeline is all ablaze with conspiracies about what happened to Kate.

Amidst confirmation that King Charles III is battling cancer, followers of the Royals have noticed a peculiar missing piece at certain public events: Prince William’s wife, Kate. While William made a last-minute appearance at Greece’s King Constantine II’s funeral, Kate was noticeably absent. According to
    Vanity Fair,

Middleton, 42, has been recovering from her procedure at Adelaide Cottage, the couple’s residence at the royal family’s Windsor Castle estate, since she was discharged from a London hospital after a week-plus inpatient stay following the surgery.

And while we hope the Princess of Wales is in good health, the people of the internet have been making their own assumptions about what happened to Kate Middleton. Since we can’t help but speculate, social media users have tossed about ideas like she’s waiting out a bad haircut, she’s gotten plastic surgery, she’s run away to live in America, the list goes on…

Across the pond at Buckingham Palace, sources claim it was planned abdominal surgery (and we hope she’s safe and healthy)…but if we chose to believe everything the Royals said, we wouldn’t have
    The Crown.

All about Princess Diana’s bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones and where he is now

    [ad_1]

PRINCESS Diana’s bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was the only person to survive the car crash that went down in history in 1997.

His life changed forever that day, but what else do we know about him?

    1

Trevor Rees-Jones was the sole survivor of the crash that killed Princess DianaCredit: AFP

    Who is Trevor Rees-Jones?

Trevor Rees-Jones was born on March 3, 1968, in Rinteln, Germany.

He was the middle son of three boys born to British Army surgeon Colin Rees and his wife Gill who was a nurse.

The family moved to Oswestry, a town close to the Welsh border when he was ten years old, where he attended the Fitzalan School and met his future wife Sue Jones.

Trevor enrolled in the Combined Cadet Force at school and after his A-levels joined the 1st Battalion Parachute Regiment, serving one tour in Northern Ireland.

In 1995, he went to work as a private security guard for Harrods owner Mohammed al-Fayed, father to Dodi Fayed, and later Princess Diana.

When did he become Princess Diana’s bodyguard?

While working for Mohamed al-Fayed, he started doing security for his playboy son Dodi, and later his girlfriend Princess Diana.

He accompanied them on a holiday in the summer of 1997, when the tragic car crash took place.

The bodyguard later shut down claims by his former boss that Dodi and Diana had chosen an engagement ring together in Monte Carlo a week before they died in Paris.

On August 30, Dodi and Diana stopped in Paris on their way to London after spending nine days on Dodi’s yacht in the Med.

They intended to stay at the Ritz hotel owned by Dodi’s father, but found themselves ambushed by paparazzi.

Ritz head of security Henri Paul hatched a plan to leave by the back door to dodge photographers and drive to Dodi’s apartment near the Champs Elysées.

The black Mercedes S280 limo driven by Mr Paul crashed into a pillar at 65mph in the early hours of August 31, 1997, at the Pont de l’Alma underpass.

The driver and Dodi were killed instantly, and Diana died soon after in hospital.

What injuries did Trevor Rees-Jones suffer in car crash?

Trevor spent ten days in a coma after the crash, suffering severe brain and chest injuries.

Every bone in his face was broken.

Surgeons used 150 pieces of titanium to rebuild his smashed face, using family photos as a guide.

He still bears the scars from the 1997 accident.

Trevor also suffered profound memory loss, and struggles to remember many details from the crash. An investigation found none of the four people in the car were wearing seat belts.

Tests showed the driver was three times the drink-drive limit.

An inquest jury found Diana was unlawfully killed by Mr Paul’s dangerous driving and the actions of the pursuing paparazzi.

What does Trevor Rees-Jones do now?

Trevor is now reportedly working as the global head of security for vaccine giant AstraZeneca. A source told The Sun: “His life is quiet and uneventful now. He certainly doesn’t court publicity or speak much about it. He’s tried to move on and get on with his life.”

The Mail tells how Trevor has rebuilt his life since the infamous crash.

His LinkedIn profile describes him as being based in Shrewsbury and having experience in international operations.

Following the crash, Trevor returned to England and quit his job with al-Fayed.

He was interviewed four times by French authorities but said he could not recall the incident.

He later claimed his boss had put “intense” pressure on him to remember details from the night his son was killed.

Trevor moved back to Shropshire where he was nursed back to health by mum Gill and step-dad Ernie. He worked for a time in a friend’s sports shop.

In 2000, he published a book called The Bodyguard’s Story: Diana, The Crash, And The Sole Survivor, which earned him a rumoured £1million.

But most of that is said to have been consumed up by legal fees after he was embroiled in a series of lawsuits with al-Fayed in England and France.

He had split from his first wife Sue months before the crash.

In 2003 he married second wife Ann Scott, a teacher.

Trevor recovered well enough to turn out for a local rugby team in North Wales and set up a business as a security consultant.

In 2008, he worked in war-torn Iraq before he was called to give evidence at the inquest, his face still deeply scarred more than a decade on.

He told the coroner he had vague memories of a motorbike alongside the vehicle, and a woman’s voice calling out “Dodi” but he was not sure if they were real memories.

He also denied claims by al-Fayed that he was part of a cover up after Diana and Dodi were killed by MI6 on the orders of Prince Philip.

Trevor said: “I am not part of a conspiracy to suppress the truth at all. All I have ever done is give the truth as I see it.”

In 2016, Diana’s former police protection officer Ken Wharfe blamed Trevor for letting the princess get into the Mercedes.

He said in an interview three years after the crash: “I’m the only person who can tell people for real, and I can’t remember.”

Speaking at the inquest, he explained Henri Paul’s plan to dodge the paparazzi by driving the Princess and Dodi in one of the hotel’s limos out the back.

He said “I wasn’t happy as it meant Dodi would be splitting the security officers, but I went along with it. “Initially, I had been told that Dodi and Diana would travel without security and I said this would not happen, that I would travel in the vehicle with them.”

So iconic that many Gen Zers, who hadn’t been around to see the life of Princess Di, are fascinated with her style and consider her an icon. Personally, I have always been inspired by the way she dressed. From laid-back outfits to her more “royal” moments, every look she wore encompassed a hint of casual classiness that I just adore.

While Princess Diana wore many iconic outfits I’ve re-created myself, I thought about what items currently on the market have that cool “people’s princess” vibe. After using some of Diana’s old outfits as a guide, I got to searching for pieces that had the Princess of Wales’ essence and ended up with 30 picks that I think nailed it.

  • Princess Diana Considered Boy George a “True Survivor”

Princess Diana Considered Boy George a “True Survivor”

    [ad_1]

Part of the late Princess Diana’s enduring legacy, decades after her untimely death, is her persona as “the people’s princess.” Former UK prime minister Tony Blair coined the nickname after her death in tribute to Diana’s relatability and humble nature, especially opening herself up to ostracized communities and advocating for them. Boy George, in his recently released autobiography, seems to agree, saying that Diana came through for him when “my reputation was ragged.”

In his new memoir Karma, which hit shelves on Tuesday, the iconic performer shared the story of meeting the princess in the late ‘80s. He came to an event and was told by the host, nightclub owner Peter Stringfellow, that Diana wanted to meet him. One problem: He wasn’t on the official guest list. At the time, he was making headlines for his struggle with heroin addiction. The former Culture Club frontman was “shooed away” by a palace official, he wrote, per People, and went to the bar to hang out.

All hope was not lost, however: Diana, “broke protocol and approached me,” Boy George writes. She complimented his outfit, which was covered in a myriad of safety pins, saying that it must have “taken forever.”

“I didn’t do it myself, love,” he joked back.

Diana also met Boy George’s mother, Dinah, and the two hit it off.

“They spent 10 minutes chatting,” he writes. “She told Mum I was a true survivor.”

In her life, Diana was an advocate for many social causes, but especially the gay community. By one account, in the late ‘80s Diana once disguised herself as a male model and crashed a gay bar with Queen frontman Freddie Mercury after a Golden Girls marathon. She was also loud in her support for HIV and AIDS treatment, working to lift the stigma around the disease. Famously, she very publicly shook hands with an AIDS patient in 1987 when she attended the opening of the UK’s first HIV/AIDS ward at London’s Middlesex Hospital. Her younger son, Prince Harry, has championed the cause as well, carrying on her legacy.

During National HIV Testing Week in the UK in 2022, Harry spoke of continuing his mother’s work on the issue.

“What my mom did, and what so many other people did at that time, was to smash that wall down. To kick the door open and say, ‘No. When people are suffering, then we need to learn more, and if there’s a stigma that’s playing such a large part of it, then what we really need to do is talk about it more,’” he said. “That kind of made people feel a little bit uncomfortable to start with. But stigma thrives on silence. We know that. What my mom started all those years ago was creating empathy and understanding…but also curiosity, which I think was really powerful.”
