  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s fans baffled by their bathrooms at $29m home

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have carved out a dream life in the US with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and there’s nothing more idyllic than their vast $29 million estate in the celebrity hotspot of Montecito. It boasts an array of impressive features, including an outdoor pool, a wine cellar, an over-water spa room and a giant children’s playpark, but it is their toilets that have piqued everyone’s interest.

A video shared by @globalstarhomes outlined their property, revealing that it has nine bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, and fans were astounded. Comments included: “Nine bedrooms and 16 toilets. Really!!!!” and: “Why would they need all that? Living above their means for no purpose. Not like they even have any parties. Scale down and enjoy living.” Another user joked: “They’ve got 16 thrones where they are.”

While 16 bathrooms may seem rather excessive, having written about celebrity homes for more than five years now, I can tell you that it is fairly commonplace, particularly in sprawling US mansions. So why so many lavatories? Here’s the truth…

These vast estates often have an array of features like a home gym, spa room, pool, games room, tennis courts, home cinemas and each of these spaces would come with its own toilet, handy for guests to use when they are enjoying the facilities. Not to mention the extra bathrooms tagged on as en suites to bedrooms and one in the entranceway, making easy access for guests.

As well as being convenient for guests visiting the property, it also adds a level of privacy for the homeowners, as their visitors do not have to use their private bathroom. Plus, most A-listers and royals have their own cleaners, so there’s no worry about the extra spaces they will have to scrub!

    Their property is so stunning

The Duchess has revealed that they were taken by the house as soon as they saw it. “We did everything we could to get this house,” Meghan told The Cut. “Because you walk in and go… Joy. And exhale. And calm. It’s healing. You feel free.”

She also opened up about their favourite feature in the garden. “One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,” she told the magazine. “See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.’  And now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.’”

Talking about life in the States more generally, Prince Harry spoke at the New York Times 2024 DealBook Summit, and said: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing up my kids here,” he said before explaining that his children have the freedom to do things that they “undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK.”

We saw many clips inside their residence during their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, however, they chose to do the interview filming at a nearby mansion. Then, Meghan chose to shoot her With Love, Meghan show at a rental too, in order to maintain privacy at their family abode.

  • Prince Harry and Meghan attend Sundance Film Festival – live updates

    [ad_1]

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at the the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on Saturday January 24, 2026, for the premiere of Cookie Queens, a documentary that Archewell Productions has executive-produced.

The couple leaned into Sundance’s trademark understated polish with coordinated, low-key looks that felt relaxed yet refined. Meghan opted for a sleek, all-black ensemble, pairing a minimalist knit top with tailored trousers and pointed heels, her hair worn long and glossy for a clean, modern finish. Harry kept things casual-cool in a quilted navy vest layered over a dark long-sleeve top, teamed with olive trousers and suede boots – practical, unfussy and perfectly in step with the festival’s laid-back energy.

Cookie Queens, by director Alysa Nahmias, follows “Ara, Olive, Nikki, and Shannon Elizabeth: four Girl Scouts with big personalities and big ambitions. The mission? Cookie sales. But their entrepreneurial spirit hints at bright futures ahead – think future Supreme Court justices, CEOs, and beyond.”

The film highlights the “real financial and time sacrifices” the girls and their families make to hit the goals, as they trade “laid-back weekends for hours outside, wagons full of cookies in tow.”

“As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary,” Meghan said in a statement in December when the news was announced.

“When we first viewed the early footage of this documentary, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in. The creative point of view, the edgy yet humanizing tone and tenor of the directing, and the glimpse behind-the-scenes into such a nostalgic and also modern tradition of Girl Scout Cookie season are absolutely irresistible.”

Archewell Productions was founded in 2020 by Prince Harry and Meghan, and focuses on scripted and non-scripted TV, film, and documentaries.

They have also partnered with Netflix, the streaming service where they released the documentaries Heart of Invictus and Harry & Meghan.

  • Exclusive: Prince Harry ‘so excited’ for UK return

    [ad_1]

The Duke of Sussex is “in a good head space” and “so excited” to return to the UK, a source tells HELLO!. Harry is said to be looking forward to spending time with nearly all of his patronages during a four-day visit, which begins on Monday with the 20th annual Wellchild Awards in central London and which will see him return to a Nottingham-based organisation close to his heart.

“He’s so excited to come back to the UK,” the source tells HELLO!. “He’s in a really good headspace. He’s really looking forward to seeing everyone from his patronages face to face and focusing on the causes. He’s really positive about coming back to do all the stuff that he loves doing.” The Duke, who has been patron of Wellchild, the charity for seriously ill children, for 17 years, will spend time with young winners and their families ahead of a glittering ceremony, during which he will present the Award for Inspirational Child (aged 4-6) and deliver a speech.

On Tuesday, he will return to Nottingham, heading to the Community Recording Studio in the St Ann’s area, where he has been a regular visitor over the years. Harry will announce a “substantial” donation to Children in Need to help support their work tackling violence affecting young people. He’ll also bring together influencers, the community outreach group Epic Partners and the sports apprenticeship organisation Coach Core.

The Duke has been a supporter of the Studio since 2013, spending time with young musicians and performers and discussing issues such as mental health and youth violence. He has kept his connection with the city since his departure from the UK in 2020, most recently making a “significant” donation to the charity Himmah, which tackles poverty, racism and social exclusion.

Prince Harry will attend the WellChild Awards next week where he will deliver a speech

While in the UK, the King’s youngest son will also spend time with representatives from other patronages thought to include Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the Invictus Games Foundation and the Diana Award. The King, who is spending the weekend in Balmoral, has not seen Harry since February 2024, when they spent 30 minutes together a day after the monarch publicly shared his cancer diagnosis.

In May this year, the Duke admitted his father would not speak to him because of his court case against the Home Office decision to downgrade his security status. But having lost the case, Harry made clear his desire to be reunited with his family. Speculation about a potential reunion has mounted since July, when the King’s communications secretary Tobyn Andreae was pictured meeting the Duke’s new communications team, US-based Meredith Maines and UK-based Liam Maguire. For now, neither side will be drawn on whether any meeting will take place, but it’s a question that looks set to dominate Harry’s visit in the coming days.
