    Earlier this month, an Oregon player won the grand prize from America’s popular lottery game, Powerball. At the time, the player triumphed by securing the mind-blowing $1.33 billion jackpot, representing the fourth-largest prize in the history of the game.

    Not even two weeks have passed since the jackpot started to grow from the standard $20 million value. Surviving the draw on Wednesday, April 17, enabled the grand prize to get closer to the mouth-watering $100 million.

    The estimated jackpot for Powerball’s upcoming drawing is $98 million, in case the winner decides to accept annual installments. If somebody wins the jackpot on the upcoming drawing, they can instead collect a lump cash sum of $45.8 million, which is a far cry from the staggering $100 million but still life-changing, to say the least.

    The winning numbers from Wednesday’s drawing included white balls 24, 29, 44, 47 and 54, as well as red Powerball 2. While nobody guessed correctly all the winning numbers, one customer hit a second-tier prize by guessing all five white balls. This granted them a $1 million prize.

    Three lottery players who guessed correctly four white balls together with the red Powerball collected a $50,000 prize each, while one lucky player took home a $100,000 Power Play prize.

    As usual, the biggest number of prizes were within the lowest tier. Nearly 250,000 lottery players won $4 each, while more than 95,000 people took home an $8 Power Play prize each.

    The upcoming drawing of the Powerball is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2024.

    Mega Millions Jackpot on the Rise

    Similar to Powerball, the jackpot from Mega Millions also dropped recently. Late last month, one New Jersey player scored the game’s historic jackpot, by guessing correctly the drawn winning numbers, 7, 11, 22, 29, 38 and Mega Ball 4. As a result, they hit the mind-blowing $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot. The grand prize marked the game’s fifth-largest jackpot.

    Now, as the grand prize from Powerball continues to grow, so does the jackpot from Mega Millions. With the lottery game’s next drawing scheduled for Friday, April 19, the estimated jackpot is at $178 million. A cash option for the game’s jackpot is the whopping $79.6 million.

    The grand prize survived the Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday. Surprisingly, no one collected a million-dollar prize too. However, 15 lucky players took home $10,000 each, while three went home with a $40,000 Megaplier prize each.

According to Mega Millions, for the upcoming drawing, this sum would be $57.3 million, a far cry from the whopping $125 million but still a life-changing prize.

    The winning numbers from the latest Mega Millions drawing were white balls 34, 43, 51, 52 and 69, along with the Gold Mega Ball 25. While nobody won the jackpot from Tuesday’s drawing, two lucky winners secured a $1 million prize each for guessing correctly all white balls. On the other hand, eight players collected $10,000 each for guessing correctly the Gold Mega Ball along with four white balls, while three took home a hefty $40,000 Megaplier prize each.

    Powerball Jackpot on the Rise

    Just like the Mega Millions jackpot dropped recently, so did the grand prize from Powerball. On Saturday, one Oregon player who guessed correctly all drawn winning numbers hit the lottery game’s staggering $1.33 billion jackpot. The jackpot represented Powerball’s fourth-largest grand prize and marked the biggest win ever in Oregon.

    After Powerball’s grand prize was won, the jackpot started to grow once again from $20 million. According to data from the popular lottery game, the next jackpot is estimated at $46 million, while its cash value is $21.5 million. The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024.

    A Powerball player in Oregon won a jackpot worth more than $1.3 billion on Sunday, ending a winless streak that had stretched more than three months.

    The single ticket matched all six numbers drawn to win the jackpot worth $1.326 billion, Powerball said in a statement.

    The jackpot has a cash value of $621 million if the winner chooses to take a lump sum rather than an annuity paid over 30 years, with an immediate payout followed by 29 annual installments. The prize is subject to federal taxes, while many states also tax lottery winnings.

    The winning numbers drawn early Sunday morning were: 22, 27, 44, 52, 69 and the red Powerball 9.

    Until the latest drawing, no one had won Powerball’s top prize since New Year’s Day, amounting to 41 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner, tying a streak set twice before in 2022 and 2021.

    The $1.326 billion prize ranks as the eighth largest in U.S. lottery history. As the prizes grow, the drawings attract more ticket sales and the jackpots subsequently become harder to hit. The game’s long odds for the weekend drawing were 1 in 292.2 million.

    Saturday night’s scheduled drawing was held up and took place in the Florida Lottery studio just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday to enable one of the organizers to complete required procedures before the scheduled time of 10:59 p.m., Powerball said in a statement.

    “Powerball game rules require that every single ticket sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn,” the statement said. “This is done to ensure that every ticket sold for the Powerball drawing has been accounted for and has an equal chance to win. Tonight, we have one jurisdiction that needs extra time to complete that pre-draw process.”

    Powerball is played in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    Saturday’s $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot drawing has been delayed after one of the lottery’s jurisdictions needed more time to complete the “required pre-draw procedures,” lottery officials announced.

    The drawing was scheduled to take place at 11 p.m. EST Saturday night.

    “Tonight, we have one participating lottery that needs additional time to complete required pre-draw procedures, which have been enacted to protect the security and integrity of the Powerball game,” a release from Powerball read.

    “Powerball game rules require that every single ticket sold nationwide be checked and verified against two different computer systems before the winning numbers are drawn. This is done to ensure that every ticket sold for the Powerball drawing has been accounted for and has an equal chance to win. Tonight, we have one jurisdiction that needs extra time to complete that pre-draw process,” the statement continued.

    Powerball also told players to hold onto their tickets for Saturday’s drawing, as the drawing will go forward once the required pre-draw procedures have been completed.

    Powerball announced at around 1 a.m. EST Sunday morning that Saturday’s drawing was still delayed due to the ticket verification issue in one of its jurisdictions, and that they hoped to complete the drawing “as soon as possible.”

    “Please note that these required pre-draw procedures are completed by every participating lottery prior to every Powerball drawing, and the time it takes to compete this process varies each night,” the updated statement read, in part.

    “While a delay to tonight’s Powerball drawing is unfortunate, it means participating lotteries are following the game rules enacted to protect the integrity of the game. Every single ticket bought for Saturday’s Powerball drawing will be accounted for before the winning numbers are drawn,” the statement continued.

    Which jurisdiction needed more time for ticket verification and what caused the delay have both not been disclosed.

    Saturday’s scheduled drawing also comes with a $608.9 million cash option in lieu of the larger sum being paid out with 30 payments over 29 years.

    Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are typically held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee.

    The California Lottery reported that two tickets sold in San Dimas and Oxnard matched 5 of 6 numbers.

    The next Powerball draw will take place on Saturday, April 6, and is now estimated at $1.23 billion. The winner of this jackpot will have the option to choose the lump sum of $595.1 million or 30 annual payments.

    The jackpot, which now ranks as the eighth-largest in U.S. lottery history, has been growing for more than three months, reflecting the long odds of 1 in 292.2 million of winning the top prize.

    The player bought the ticket in Ada County and matched four out of the five white balls and the red Powerball in the Monday, April 1, drawing.

    They scored $100,000.

    The winning numbers were 19, 24, 40, 42, 56 and red Powerball 23.

    No one won the jackpot, so it grew to $1.09 billion with an estimated cash prize of $527.3 million for the Wednesday, April 3, drawing.

    Second player wins big

    Powerball tickets cost $3 in Idaho and include the PowerPlay option. The lucky player’s $50,000 prize was doubled to $100,000 as a result.

    Another Idaho Powerball player also scored a big prize the same night.

    This player bought a ticket in Jerome County and added the the Double Play feature for another $1. The player won $50,000 in the separate Double Play drawing with the same Powerball numbers.

    The Double Play jackpot is $10 million.

    To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

    The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1-in-292,201,338.

    The drawing came a day after a player in New Jersey won a $1.13 billion Mega Millions prize after 30 straight drawings without a winner.

    The Powerball jackpot has been growing for months, since the last winner on New Year’s Day. There now have been 37 consecutive drawings without anyone hitting the top prize.

    A North Carolina mom won big in the Powerball game — and surprised her family members with the good news.

    “I was waiting for them when they walked in the door,” Stephanie Coulter told the N.C. Education Lottery. “I didn’t want to tell them over the phone.”

    Coulter celebrated the windfall with her husband and son after her Powerball ticket matched all but one number picked in the March 23 drawing. She spent an extra dollar on her ticket, doubling her $50,000 prize to $100,000, according to game rules.

    “I was in disbelief,” Coulter, who lives in Clemmons, told lottery officials in a March 27 news release.

    Coulter bought the lucky ticket at her go-to supermarket, a Lowes Foods in nearby Winston-Salem.

    “That’s the grocery store we go to every week,” Coulter said. “You always hear about people winning in random places but I didn’t expect it to be there.”

    She kept $71,501 after taxes and hopes to put the money toward a New York trip, her kids’ college tuition and investments.

    Three other North Carolina lottery players scored life-changing wins in the same Powerball drawing. All were just one number from the larger jackpot prize, which stood at an estimated $758 million the night of the drawing and has since grown to about $935 million.

    With no one winning the Powerball jackpot Wednesday, the grand prize for Saturday’s drawing grew closer to the billion-dollar mark, according to the lottery.

    Wednesday’s winning numbers were: 37, 46, 57, 60, 66 and Powerball 8.

    The $935 million Powerball jackpot in play Saturday jumped from $865 million after no tickets matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing. It would be the fifth-largest prize in the history of the game.

    A jackpot winner in Saturday’s drawing could choose to receive the money in annuitized payments or take a lump sum estimated at $449.7 million.

    Although no jackpot was won Wednesday, three tickets still won $1 million each by matching the first five numbers. Those tickets were sold in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Texas, according to the Powerball website.

    This is the first Powerball jackpot to surpass $900 million this year. Powerball’s grand prize was last won in January, when a ticket in Michigan scored a $842.4 million jackpot. Since then, 37 consecutive drawings have taken place without a jackpot winner, according to Powerball.

    The largest Powerball jackpot – and the largest US lottery prize – ever won was $2.04 billion by a ticket purchased in California in November 2022, according to the lottery.

    Saturday’s estimated $935 million jackpot would rank fifth on Powerball’s all-time list. Ranking second through fourth are $1.765 billion (one ticket in California; 2023); $1.586 billion (three tickets; 2016); and $1.08 billion (one ticket in California, 2023).

    Winning the Powerball jackpot means a ticket matched all five white balls plus the red Powerball. The odds of winning any prize in a Powerball drawing are 1 in 24.9, and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to the lottery.

    Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET in Tallahassee, Florida.

    DES MOINES, Iowa — Nobody won Wednesday’s Powerball drawing so the jackpot is climbing to $935 million for Saturday.

    Powerball is your only shot right now at a massive payout approaching billion-dollar territory, after someone in New Jersey won the Mega Millions $1.13 billion prize this week.

    Wednesday’s Powerball drawing was for $865 million.

    The winning numbers were: 37, 46, 57, 60, 66 and the Powerball is 8.

    While nobody hit all six, there were three tickets with five winning numbers, for prizes of $1 million each, sold in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Texas.

    The Powerball jackpot has been growing for months. The last time someone won Powerball’s top prize was on New Year’s Day, meaning there have been 36 consecutive drawings without a winner.

    The game’s odds of 1 in 292.2 million are designed to create big jackpots that will grab attention and increase sales.

    The top prize is for a sole winner who is paid over 30 years through an annuity. Winners usually opt for a cash payout, which for Wednesday night’s drawing would have been an estimated $416.1 million.

    The $935 million drawing for Saturday carries a cash value of $449.7 million, before taxes.

    Powerball is played in 45 states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

    The winning numbers have been drawn for Saturday’s $750 million Powerball jackpot. They are 6, 23, 25, 34, 51 and a Powerball of 3.

    It was not immediately announced if any winning jackpot tickets were sold.

    There has not been a grand prize winner since New Year’s Day, and Saturday’s drawing was the 35th since that date.

    A single winner Saturday would have the choice of taking a lump sum payment of an estimated $360.8 million before taxes, or going with the $750 million annuity option, Mega Millions said in a news release.

    The annuity option consists of 30 annual payments that increase by 5% each year. According to the lottery analysis site USAMega, those payments would average about $25 million per year before taxes.

    The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

    The U.S. finds itself yet again in the grips of lottery fever, as the Mega Millions jackpot climbed to an estimated $1.1 billion, the fifth-largest in the game’s history, after there were no winners in its Saturday night drawing. No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot since Dec. 8, and the next drawing takes place Tuesday night.

    The frequency of large jackpots has surged for both Powerball and Mega Millions in recent years as both games doubled ticket prices and lowered odds.

    Last August, a single winning ticket was sold in Neptune, Florida, for a $1.6 billion jackpot, the largest in Mega Millions history, and the third-largest in lottery history.

    In February 2023, a winning ticket sold near Los Angeles claimed a $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot, the largest in lottery history.

    Powerball tickets are $2 each and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m. Eastern.

    The jackpot increased after a drawing for an estimated $977 million failed to produce a jackpot winner.

    No one has won the game’s jackpot since Dec. 8, a string of 30 consecutive drawings without anyone taking home the top prize. That has enabled the jackpot to slowly grow, week after week.

    The $1.1 billion prize is for a sole winner who chooses to be paid through an annuity over 30 years. Winners almost always opt for a cash payment, which for the next drawing Tuesday night is an estimated $525.8 million.

    A lucky player winning the $1.1 billion jackpot would take home the eighth-largest prize in U.S. lottery history.

    Surviving since the start of the year, the jackpot from America’s popular lottery game, Powerball, is now getting closer to a mind-blowing $800 million. The grand prize for the upcoming drawing of the lottery game is estimated at $750 million, a figure that makes the jackpot the ninth largest in the history of the game.

    The Powerball jackpot was able to grow this much after surviving for nearly three months. The last time a lucky lottery player hit the Powerball jackpot was at the beginning of this year. Considering the estimated $750 million grand prize, the cash option for the jackpot is a hefty $357.3 million.

    The $842.4 million jackpot which dropped on January 1, 2024, was the fifth-largest prize from Powerball. The fourth largest jackpot dropped last summer in July when a lucky player from California hit $1.08 billion.

    The third-largest grand prize was won in January 2016, a whopping $1.59 billion, while the second-biggest jackpot dropped on October 11, 2023, in California when a lucky lottery player guessed all winning numbers, securing $1.77 billion. Despite the aforementioned hefty wins, nothing can quite be compared to the largest jackpot from the game, a staggering $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in November 2022.

    The winning numbers from Powerball’s Wednesday drawing included white balls 13, 22, 27, 54, 66 and red Powerball 9. While nobody won the jackpot, there was also no one who collected a million-dollar second-tier prize, at least from the latest drawing.

    On the bright side, 27 lottery players guessed correctly four white balls along with the red Powerball, securing a $50,000 prize each, while six collected a $100,000 Power Play prize each.

    The next drawing for Powerball is scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2024.

    The Grand Prize from Mega Millions Gets Closer to $1bn

    Similar to Powerball, the jackpot from Mega Millions continues to increase as well. Surviving the drawing on Tuesday, the grand prize is not getting closer to a mind-blowing $1 billion. According to Mega Millions, the estimated jackpot for the game’s upcoming drawing is $977 million. While this is a completely mind-blowing sum, the cash option is also a whopping $461.0 million.

    Unlike Powerball, four lucky lottery players secured seven-figure prizes from Mega Millions’ latest drawing. The four lottery aficionados won a $1 million prize each for guessing correctly five white numbers drawn.

    The next drawing for Mega Millions is scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 PM ET.

    After nobody hit the Powerball jackpot, the grand prize is expected to hit $645 million for the upcoming drawing. The cash option for the jackpot is also a staggering figure, $307.3 million. The next drawing for Powerball is scheduled for Monday, March 18, 2024.

    From Saturday’s drawing, three winners guessed correctly five white balls, taking home $1 million each. Guessing four white balls along with the red Powerball granted 35 lottery players a $50,000 prize each, while six people took home a $100,000 prize each.

    The odds of winning the jackpot from Powerball are 1 in 292.2 million. The overall odds of winning a prize from the game are 1 in 24.9.

    If won, it would be the sixth largest jackpot since the game began in 2002.
