Between meat heists with people stealing several pounds of beef to srewworms to this! Beef prices just can’t catch a break.
According to the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District, a tractor trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks caught on fire Aug. 18 on I-44 near mile marker 174 near Jerome, Missouri.
Despite what could have been a pop-up BBQ party, officials said the steaks were a total loss.
In pure irony, one of the responding fire fighters is a vegan.
“Nothing says ‘welcome to the fire service’ like sending the probie to put out 40,000 pounds of flaming ribeye! Probationary Firefighter Jenna Ulrich is the only vegan on our department…so naturally, her very first fire involved a tractor trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of ribeye steak,” the district stated on Facebook.
Comments on social media didn’t disappoint
-
“I wonder if it smelt like BBQ,” questioned Jennifer.
-
“It honestly didn’t smell as good as we thought it would,” the district responded.
-
“Somebody definitely overcooked them steaks,” joked Rob.
-
She won’t be vegan anymore now that she caught a whiff of deliciousness,” said Melissa.
