  • Fire Crews Battle and Contain Flames Early Monday Morning In North Portland – KXL

    Fire crews working to contain smoke at 48forty Solutions in North Portland

    Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a call on Lombard Street in North Portland around 2am as flames engulfed a wood pallet factory, 4840 solutions.

    Officials say the fire was under control quickly within an hour and a half because of calling in backup due to an upgraded second alarm, although on site, there was a huge pile of wood that is bellowing out smoke.

    “Our crews are very familiar with this,” Jon Harell with Portland Fire said.  “I, myself as the public information officer, has been to this location on two separate incidents.”

    “Our crews are very well versed with the challenges association with this location, mainly access,” Harrell continued. “Crews found a smoke coming from a wood pile.”

    No injuries have been reported.  Also, no traffic alerts to speak of as everything is confined to a giant lot on site.

    “(People) will likely see fire crews still there, mopping up and working with the business owner,” Harrell said. “They are starting to deconstruct the pile to get to any of the hot spots that are down deep inside this pile of wood.”

    Crews had been on site since around 2 this morning to contain the fire

  • Arson Investigation Underway After Car Fire Outside Portland City Councilor’s Home – KXL

    An arson investigation is underway after a car fire at the home of City Councilor Candace Avalos. Courtesy Portland Police Bureau.

    PORTLAND, OR – The Portland Fire Investigations Unit is looking into a fire at the home of City Councilor Candace Avalos.  The exact cause of the fire was not clear during the initial investigation, but it is considered suspicious in nature.

    On Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 2:40a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a fire at the home Portland City Councilor Candace Avalos. The fire is considered suspicious.

    Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the fire in the Mill Park Neighborhood just after 2:30 Sunday morning, October 26th.  Firefighters say they found several parked vehicles and a carport in flames.  The fire was put out, and no one was hurt.

  • Early Morning Brush Fire In North Portland – KXL

    Fire creeps up the bluff next to N. Greeley Ave.

    Portland, Ore. – Portland Fire and Rescue battled a brush fire off Greeley Avenue, early Friday. Crews were dispatched just before 3:30 a.m. Firefighters reported burning debris rolling down the bluff as they worked to extinguish the flames in thick vegetation in rough terrain.

    Additional engines responded to the Overlook neighborhood above the fire.

    PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Fire and Rescue responded to 3 separate commercial fires during the afternoon and early evening hours Monday.

    The largest by far was a four alarm fire at the Shin Shin Noodle Factory in North Portland. Portland Fire and Rescue’s Rick Graves was on the scene.  “It’s very dangerous with the potential of the structural collapse. There is smoke blowing over the top of the freeway, at some points in time, pretty significant. We got a lot of smoke production boiling out of this structure.”

    There were about a hundred firefighters working on that one. At one point, they were pouring nearly 2, 000 gallons of water a minute into the structure. And while this fire was pouring black smoke into the sky, another commercial fire broke out at the Metro Waste Transfer Facility, also in North Portland.  The crews extinguished flames from a large pile of trash on fire. And while they were tackling that one, they got word of a third fire at an auto parts store.  That one, fortunately, was minor. There were no injuries in any of the fires.
