Police said the victims were walking on the sidewalk when people inside a dark-colored sedan fired shots.

Video from one of the hospitals a couple of the victims went to for treatment shows a black SUV riddled with bullet holes.

A business owner showed ABC7 surveillance video of the shooting, but did not feel comfortable sharing it.

Five to six hooded people could be seen jumping out of a parked car…armed with rifles and handguns and shoot in the direction of the music studio. The gunmen peel away in the car, some still firing their guns.

Two men, ages 24 and 25, were driven to Community First Hospital and later transferred to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said.

Two other men, ages 20 and 24, were transported by the Chicago Fire Department to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where they were in good condition, police said.

Jeff Ulrich, who lives nearby said he heard a barrage of gunfire early Thursday morning.

“About 2:30 this morning, all of the sudden I woke up and heard gunshots and it sounded like automatic machine guns or something going back and forth, probably about 20, 30 shots,” Ulrich said. “It went on for a good five minutes or more.”

Ulrich said he couldn’t believe it at first.

“Just surprising for this area, very quiet,” Ulrich said. “Other than the trains, there’s not a whole lot going on back here.”

3 killed, including suspected gunman, in Minneapolis shooting, police say

    [ad_1]

MINNEAPOLIS — Three people, including the suspected gunman, are dead after a shooting Thursday at a Minneapolis apartment complex, police said.

Two police officers were also hospitalized with injuries from the shooting in the south Minneapolis neighborhood of Whittier.

Police said the public was not in danger but encouraged people to stay away from the scene.

No other details were immediately released. Police planned a late evening news conference to address the shooting.

An earlier statement from police indicated there were four civilians injured along with two officers.

News footage showed a large police presence at both the apartment complex and the hospital.

Melvin Carter, the mayor of neighboring St. Paul, said the city was sending police and other first responders to Minneapolis to provide support, including having officers help with security at the NBA playoff game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks.

Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had responded to “an active shooting situation,” said Ashlee Sherrill, a spokeswoman for the local field division.

ATF agents were “there to help expedite the firearms investigation piece of it,” she said.
