A retired U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent was among two victims killed in the deadly shooting at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino on Sunday, Eagle Pass Aaron Valdez confirmed on social media.

Mayor Valdez described Marcus “Mark” Antley as a beloved member of the community and said he was remembered for his law enforcement career and impact on Eagle Pass.

“Mr. Antley dedicated much of his life to public service and law enforcement. He will be remembered not only for his career but also for his generosity, leadership, and the lasting friendships he built throughout Eagle Pass and the region. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of many,” Valdez wrote on Facebook.

Valdez also pledged to support the grieving families of those who were injured in the attack and thanked law enforcement for their quick work capturing a suspect.

Dimmit County Judge Martha Alicia Gomez Ponce said the other victim in Sunday’s shooting was a Dimmit County resident.

“Let us come together in unity and support for the victims and their loved ones within our Dimmit County community,” Ponce wrote on Facebook. “My deepest condolences go out to the families impacted by this heartbreaking event.”

Authorities have since identified the suspect as Keryan Rashad Jones, 34, of San Antonio. Jones was arrested in Wilson County following a chase.

Police said Jones is currently in custody in Wilson County/Stockdale but will be extradited back to Eagle Pass, where the investigation is based.

Police say they were able to obtain confirmation through vehicle tracking and license plate recognition (LPR) systems, allowing the Texas Department of Public Safety to find the suspect. He now faces two counts of capital murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Maverick County Judge Ramsey English Cantú praised law enforcement for their coordinated response.

“Together, our local, state and federal partners worked around the clock to bring this individual into custody,” he said. “Now, we must assure justice for the victims and their families. We will not tolerate violence in our community.”

  • Bill Maher explores connection between internet memes and recent political violence

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

“Real Time” host Bill Maher asked an internet culture researcher Friday about memes to understand how people get “inspired to kill.”

Memes, or “historical documents” with various interpretations, were engraved on the shell casings of late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin, “Real Time” guest Aidan Walker said.

Kirk’s accused killer etched gamer-inspired and antifascist messaging on his casings, including, “Hey, fascist! Catch!” and a reference to a World War II anthem.

MAHER BLASTS HOLLYWOOD LIBERALS FOR NOT ACKNOWLEDGING CHARLIE KIRK’S ASSASSINATION AT THE EMMYS

“But [memes] take on new meanings, I mean this is part of why people get inspired to kill,” Maher said. “Because they get insulted by them, right? They get hurt by them. They have a meaning that a lot of us older people are not getting, correct?”

Suspected assassin Tyler James Robinson, (L) and a John Brown Gun Club recruiting poster with a nod to the alleged killer found on the Georgetown University campus on Sept. 24, 2025.  (Fox News)

The discussion came in the wake of Wednesday’s deadly shooting at a Dallas I.C.E. facility, where one detainee was killed, and two others were wounded before the shooter took his own life. The gunman reportedly left behind a bullet casing inscribed with the phrase “anti-ICE.”

He was almost “murdering ironically,” Maher considered.

MAHER SAYS COMPARING TRUMP TO HITLER MUST END, WARNS IT MAKES IT EASIER FOR KILLERS TO JUSTIFY ASSASSINATIONS

“I mean, that’s a place society has never been,” Maher continued. “Yes, young men are bad and fumbling to get women to agree to what they want to do. But it was never like this. We never had the term incel [involuntarily celibate].”

A lot of memes can also be ironic, Walker explained.

Five rounds, one of which says "Anti-ICE" in blue letters on it.

FBI Director Kash Patel said investigators recovered these rounds from the scene in Dallas where a gunman opened fire on the local ICE field office on Sept. 24, 2025.  (FBI)

“In a way it’s a little bit like dog whistle…they’re so layered in, you know, I don’t really mean this, but you can put this sort of anti-social or hateful idea behind that,” he described.

The 26-year-old researcher attributed problematic anti-social behavior to not just an affordability crisis but a “crisis of meaning.”

MANGIONE, CATHOLIC CHURCH SHOOTER, CHARLIE KIRK SHOOTER, ICE SHOOTER ALL USED ENGRAVED BULLETS

“You have a lot of especially young people who don’t see a future for themselves, who feel lonely, who feel alienated,” he discussed. “And they congregate in these online spaces sort of outside of the mainstream where they feel like that online world is more important than their real world.”

Walker went on to share “the way out” that he says gives him hope.

“It’s giving people those social bonds… giving everybody the shot at dignity and the shot at being seen in our culture,” he said.

While Republicans like Vice President JD Vance blame “left-wing political radicalization” for recent violence, Maher didn’t mince words in his closing monologue for those arguing the Left is “more approving” of it:

“You keep saying the Left is more approving of political violence – well who do you think that’s going to be aimed at?” Maher asked. “I know it feels exhilarating to make the liberals cry their liberal tears after they made you feel disrespected and looked down on flown over and called the nutty ones. But come on, I thought you were the tough guys. Get over it.”

  • Three women indicted for allegedly livestreaming chase of ICE agent to his home and posting address online

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A federal grand jury has indicted three women for allegedly following a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent from his workplace, livestreaming the pursuit on social media and then posting his home address online.

The indictment charges the trio — Cynthia Raygoza, 37, of Riverside, California; Ashleigh Brown, 38, of Aurora, Colorado; and Sandra Carmona Samane, 25, of Panorama City, California — with one count of conspiracy and one count of publicly disclosing the personal information of a federal agent, according to a Friday announcement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.

“Our brave federal agents put their lives on the line every day to keep our nation safe,” Acting U.S. Attorney in California Bill Essayli said in a statement. “The conduct of these defendants is deeply offensive to law enforcement officers and their families. If you threaten, dox, or harm in any manner one of our agents or employees, you will face prosecution and prison time.”

On August 28, the women allegedly followed the ICE agent from the Civic Center in downtown Los Angeles to his house, livestreaming the chase live on Instagram accounts identified as “ice_out_of_la,” “defendmesoamericanculture,” and “corn_maiden_design,” according to the indictment.

ANTI-ICE ATTACKERS REVEALED TO HAVE EXTENSIVE HISTORY OF RADICAL PROTEST ACTIVITIES

Prosecutors allege the defendants gave directions as they followed the agent and urged viewers to share the feed. Once outside of his home, they shouted to neighbors that their “neighbor is ICE,” “la migra lives here,” and “ICE lives on your street, and you should know,” as noted in the indictment.

  • Georgetown acts quickly after disturbing flyers reemerge on campus mocking Charlie Kirk: ‘Rest in p-ss’

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Georgetown University said it removed a second wave of inflammatory posters mocking the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and has reported the incident to the FBI.

Photos of the flyers at the elite Washington, D.C., university, including one that showed Kirk’s face with his eyes blacked out and the words “Follow your leader” and “Rest in p-ss Charlie,” were first obtained by Fox News.

The posters were taped up Thursday night in Georgetown’s central Red Square, the school’s main free speech zone. They also carried QR codes and the seal of the “Georgetown John Brown Club,” a group tied to leftist activism and past violence.

“Georgetown University has no tolerance for calls for violence or threats to the university,” a university spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

More “Hey fascist! Catch!” flyers were spotted on Georgetown University’s campus in Washington, D.C., Thursday, before being removed. (Obtained by Fox News Digital)

“Upon discovering the new flyers, the university removed them and reported them to the FBI. The university’s team of safety and security experts, including its police department and specialized threat assessment professionals, will continue to investigate this incident and work in partnership with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our community.”

Shae McInnis, treasurer of the Georgetown College Republicans, told Fox News Digital he was taken aback by the flyers’ reappearance on campus.

“Just even more shocked than I was [Wednesday]… it really makes me feel like our entire university is under attack by people with no decency and no respect for our society,” he said.

McInnis said conservative students are now openly questioning whether it is even safe to host events on campus.

“Should I go out to this event? Should we have a Georgetown College Republicans event? Is that even safe now?” he asked. But, he added, his group refuses to back down: “They’re trying to shut us up, but we’re not going to. We’re going to be bolder, be louder and proclaim our message with confidence.”

U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon condemned the flyers Wednesday, writing on X that violent rhetoric on campus “must be condemned by institutional leaders.”

The first round of posters appeared on Wednesday and used the slogan “Hey fascist! Catch!”

Accused assassin Tyler Robinson used the same phrase etched onto the shell casing in Charlie Kirk’s Sept. 10 killing at Utah Valley University. Those same flyers also declared, “The only political group that celebrates when Nazis die,” alongside a QR code linking to the John Brown Gun Club.

McInnis said Thursday’s posters marked a clear escalation.

“[Wednesday] there were fewer posters on a less prominent area of campus. Today, they went to what’s called ‘Red Square,’ the main free speech zone… They went in broad daylight… They’re being even more brash.”

He warned the rhetoric has already chilled free speech on campus. “How can people be safe to express themselves freely if they know their classmates could be wanting to kill them, literally kill them for expressing their own ideas?”

The John Brown Gun Club, cited in the Georgetown flyers, is classified as a far-left group by the Center for Counter Extremism. It has been linked to violence, including a July 4, 2025, armed attack on an ICE detention center in Texas that left an officer injured, and the 2019 attempted firebombing of an ICE facility in Tacoma, Washington, where attacker Willem van Spronsen was killed.

    McInnis called for swift accountability.

“The university should identify every student involved, and they must be immediately expelled… If the university is not willing to do that, I would urge the federal government to please help,” he said. “Please protect conservative students at Georgetown and across every campus in our country.”

  • Mangione, Catholic Church shooter, Charlie Kirk shooter, ICE shooter all used engraved bullets

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A gunman who opened fire at a Dallas immigration facility Wednesday allegedly left behind a bullet casing inscribed with the phrase “anti-ICE,” part of a recent trend of suspects in high-profile shootings signaling their possible motives through their ammunition.

FBI Director Kash Patel shared a picture of the casings, saying one was engraved and “shows an ideological motive” behind the attack. The incident followed the accused killer of Charlie Kirk inscribing gamer-inspired antifascist messaging on bullet casings and Luigi Mangione using words on his casings linked to health insurance companies.

The suspect in the Dallas incident, Joshua Jahn, 29, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after killing one detainee and critically injuring two others, the Department of Homeland Security said.

ANTI-ICE MESSAGE FOUND ON SHOOTER’S ROUNDS IN DEADLY ATTACK AT ICE FACILITY, FBI SAYS

FBI Director Kash Patel said investigators recovered these rounds from the scene in Dallas where a gunman opened fire on the local ICE field office on Sept. 24, 2025.  (FBI)

While detainees were the victims, Jahn fired “indiscriminately” and was “motivated by a hatred for ICE,” the DHS said.

Tyler Robinson, 22, is facing murder charges in Utah and stands accused of assassinating Christian conservative activist Kirk during a speaking event at a college this month. Four bullet casings recovered with Robinson’s firearm contained phrases popular in gaming culture, including a direct mention of fascism and a possible reference to an antifascist Italian folk song.

Local and federal authorities have said Robinson had become more political in recent years and was inspired by a hatred for Kirk.

In Luigi Mangione’s case, evidence has shown the 27-year-old struggled with chronic back pain and had at some point documented frustrations with the health insurance industry, which prosecutors have tied to writing found on Mangione’s ammunition.

Mangione stands accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, whose killing on a sidewalk in New York City was captured in chilling surveillance footage as Thompson entered a hotel for a conference. Bullets recovered at the crime scene contained three words popular with critics who say health insurers mishandle claims.

“In preparing for the crime, the defendant took the time to write the words ‘Deny,’ ‘Depose,’ and ‘Delay’ on the bullets he used — two of which were recovered at the scene of the murder as shell casings (because the bullets had been fired) and one of which was recovered as a live round,” prosecutors wrote in court papers.

The apparent pattern of young suspected killers marking their crimes with ideological messages on spent and unspent munitions comes as politically charged violence takes center stage in the national discourse.

A vast majority of voters in a recent Quinnipiac survey said the nation is in a “political crisis” and that political violence is a “very serious” issue. An Atlantic analysis of hundreds of terrorism incidents found that patterns in left-wing and right-wing attacks have fluctuated over three decades but that a rise in left-wing terrorism began when Trump was elected in 2016.

Attackers sending their politicized messages through writings is not new, though the writings have more commonly been known to crop up in various types of manifestos.

The crash happened Wednesday on East 40th Street in New York City.

Police confirmed one person was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and was listed in stable condition Wednesday evening.

Per the New York Post, eyewitnesses also described a chaotic scene in one of the city’s busiest corridors. A nearby Nuts4Nuts vendor said the van “sped away” after running over the couple.

“As he was reversing, the woman was under the van. The man was stuck under the tire. He got himself out,” the vendor said.

“EMS responded and pronounced a 50-year-old female deceased on the scene,” NYPD confirmed.

“A 55-year-old male was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The vehicle did not remain on scene,” they stated.

  • Alabama conducts first state-federal checkpoint operations with ICE, detaining over 20 people

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

In what is reportedly one of the first instances of “checkpoint” operations between the Department of Homeland Security and a state police agency, more than two dozen people were detained within the past several days.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey confirmed to Fox News Digital that she directed the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and other cabinet agencies to “work closely with ICE to catch criminal illegals.”

Ivey praised ALEA’s work on a particularly lucrative “bust” in Russellville, which saw at least 20 people detained.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, ALEA confirmed that operation in which agency troopers conducted drivers’ license checkpoints in Franklin and Colbert counties, where ICE special agents were present.

GOP GOVERNOR GREENLIGHTS STATE TROOPERS TO JOIN ICE IN IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWN

More than one-third of area residents identify as Hispanic, according to census figures, which eclipses the statewide proportion of 6%.

ALEA directed Fox News Digital to ICE for immigration-specific data from its collaboration.

“Driver license checkpoints occur all over the state and are one of the ways we stop criminals in their tracks, and now, we include ICE agents in these efforts,” Ivey said.

The Republican, who is term-limited next year, added that criminal illegal immigrants are not welcome in her state, and that every “tool in the toolbox” will be used to keep residents and visitors safe.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., who is hoping to shift from Washington to Montgomery and succeed Ivey next year, said he was glad to see ALEA work with ICE in this way.

ALABAMA GOV SIGNS WHAT IS A WOMAN ACT: ‘IF THE GOOD LORD MADE YOU A BOY, YOU’RE A BOY’

“When 77 million Americans voted for President Trump, they sent a clear message: they want mass deportations – and they want them now,” Tuberville told Fox News Digital.

The longtime Auburn football icon expressed hope that other states will follow Alabama’s lead and adapt such new cooperative strategies with federal law enforcement to crack down on illegal immigrants and maintain public safety.

“[Illegal immigrant] criminals shouldn’t be here in the first place,” Tuberville said.

Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter also indicated his support for Ivey’s and ALEA’s work.

Ledbetter, R-Rainsville, lamented that there are too many other states where leaders “fight harder for criminals than [for] law-abiding citizens.”

In those places, he said, “politics matter more to [elected officials] than public safety … I expect this state and federal partnership to continue yielding positive results.”

Birmingham immigration attorney Brett Pouncey told statewide news outlet AL.com that numerous communities are also working with ICE to set up license-checking “roadblocks” – citing reports from his own clients.

Russellville community organizer Evelyn Servin told the outlet that police should not be working with the feds, and claimed people in her area may be racially profiled and detained.

Throughout the summer, ICE also made two dozen arrests in Baldwin County, home of the famed white-sand “Redneck Riviera” beach towns.

Arrests were made at sites in Loxley – along Interstate 10 north of Orange Beach – and Spanish Fort, which lies on the other end of the George Wallace Tunnel from Mobile.

The operations led one immigration advocate in that region to suggest immigrants write phone numbers on their bodies to be able to contact family in case they are detained by ICE, according to AL.com.

  • JD Vance blames Kirk assassination on ‘left-wing political radicalization’ of shooter

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Vice President JD Vance issued scathing words to those questioning the motive of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s accused killer on “Jesse Watters Primetime” Wednesday.

After citing several sources involved in the investigation, the vice president blamed Kirk’s killing on “left-wing political radicalization.”

“My friend is dead because of left-wing political radicalization,” Vance argued. “And if you want to cut that sh– out, then be honest about it, and look yourself in the mirror.”

JD VANCE DECLARES THERE IS ‘NO UNITY’ WITH PEOPLE WHO CELEBRATE CHARLIE KIRK’S ASSASSINATION

According to court documents, the mother of Tyler Robinson, Kirk’s suspected assassin, said Robinson had “become more political,” leaning left and supporting “pro-gay and trans rights.”

On Tuesday, Utah County District Attorney Jeff Gray read aloud Robinson’s alleged explanation in text messages to his transgender roommate for assassinating Kirk.

“I had enough of [Kirk’s] hatred,” Robinson wrote Sept. 10. “Some hate can’t be negotiated out.”

Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder and six other felonies by Utah prosecutors, who intend to seek the death penalty.

CHARLIE KIRK’S STRONG STANCE ON DEATH PENALTY RESURFACES AFTER UTAH ASSASSINATION

As the nation debates Robinson’s motive for killing Kirk, Vance told Fox News host Jesse Watters the conservative activist’s death is not a “both sides problem.”

“You look at every ounce of evidence that we have, and it is clear,” Vance said. “This is a person who grew up in a pretty normal family, actually had a pretty good home life, who was radicalized by the far left, by the social networks of the far left, by the ideas of the far left, and got so far down the path of radicalization that he killed my friend.”

The Republican vice president also addressed whether the firings of those celebrating Kirk’s assassination is constitutional as employees lose their jobs and college students face expulsion for praising Kirk’s death.

JD VANCE PENS HEARTFELT TRIBUTE TO CHARLIE KIRK AFTER ASSASSINATION: ‘YOU RAN A GOOD RACE, MY FRIEND’

“The First Amendment protects a lot of very ugly speech,” Vance explained. “But if you celebrate Charlie Kirk’s death, you should not be protected from being fired for being a disgusting person.”

When Watters asked Vance how he views the celebrations, Vance listed a couple of questions he would ask the “disgusting” people in question.

“I would ask if you were the kind of person who feels joy at the death of a grieving mother and grieving children, what bad decisions have led you to where you are today?” Vance responded. “And why don’t you get back on the right path?”

On Monday, the vice president hosted an episode of “The Charlie Kirk Show” in honor of his late friend, saying he would not be in office without Kirk.

That’s the promise of TRAUMAGEL, a groundbreaking, plant-based bleeding control gel now being used by first responders across the country, including a metro Atlanta fire department that recently used it to save one of their own.

Developed by Cresilon CEO and co-founder Joe Landolina, TRAUMAGEL works in seconds to control bleeding from gunshot wounds and other traumatic injuries. It’s supplied in a compact 30-ml syringe and can be quickly applied in the field before a patient bleeds out, a risk responsible for more than 35% of all prehospital deaths.

A medical breakthrough born in a winery lab

The story behind TRAUMAGEL starts with a teenager in a winery lab. Joe Landolina, now CEO of Cresilon, developed the technology when he was just 17.

“My grandfather was a retired chemist who owned a vineyard in upstate New York,” Landolina explains. “I would work alongside him in his winery laboratory every single day after school from a very young age. During that time, I developed a strong love for chemistry, especially plant-based chemistries from ingredients found in nature around me.”

That love turned into research. “At the age of 17, I was experimenting with polymers extracted from the cell walls of algae and discovered a matrix that would instantly bond to living tissue,” he said.

He took the idea to New York University’s business plan competition, and Cresilon was born. The company now operates out of a 55,000-square-foot biomanufacturing facility in Brooklyn with nearly 100 employees.

Real-world impact: Faster bleeding control in the field

TRAUMAGEL is already changing how medics respond in high-pressure trauma situations.

“TRAUMAGEL has impacted how we respond to traumatic injuries in any situation,” says Lt. David Kleiman of Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services. “In the past, with junctional injuries, like the neck, armpit, or groin, we were using traditional methods like digital pressure or wound packing. That required multiple crews and took time.

“With TRAUMAGEL, we can administer a hemostatic agent that controls bleeding in seconds,” he continues. “Crews can move on to quicker assessments and treatments and get the patient to definitive care faster.”

MAN’S DEADLY BRAIN CANCER TUMOR DISAPPEARS AFTER EXPERIMENTAL DRUG TRIAL

How it saved a firefighter’s life

In one recent case, a Cobb County firefighter was injured during a response at an abandoned house. He tripped on a hill, cut his hand on broken glass, and attempted to stop the bleeding himself. But it didn’t work.

“He eventually realized he couldn’t control the bleeding and made his way back to the engine,” Kleiman recalls. “The crew noted that he was pale and sweaty and that his turnout gear was saturated in blood. Traditional methods failed, so they administered TRAUMAGEL. It instantly stopped the bleeding.”

The firefighter was then treated for blood loss and fully recovered after surgery.

From fire departments to the Department of Defense

Cresilon’s bleeding control gel is being tested in even more demanding environments.

“In addition to getting TRAUMAGEL into the hands of all first responders across the country,” Landolina says, “our proprietary technology is being studied for broader applications by the U.S. Defense Department’s Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.”

That study is focused on penetrating traumatic brain injuries (TBI). “Preliminary findings demonstrated promising results in the ability of our technology to control bleeding and provide neuroprotection following a TBI,” he says. The team plans to pursue further research based on those results.

    What this means for you

Severe bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma. With TRAUMAGEL, emergency teams can control that bleeding quickly, even before a patient reaches the hospital. This tool isn’t just for battlefield medicine or professional EMS. In the future, you could see it in hospitals, dental offices, and even home first-aid kits. TRAUMAGEL may become a new standard in emergency bleeding control, and that means faster care, better outcomes, and more lives saved.

  • Former Chicago police official says Democrats are ‘afraid’ a Trump crime crackdown in the city would work

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Former head of the Chicago Police Department Jody Weis called out the two top Democrats in Illinois, arguing they are afraid of being humiliated by President Donald Trump successfully bringing down crime in the city.

After Trump caused shockwaves with his crackdown on crime in Washington D.C., Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson warned the president against trying to interfere in Chicago. But Trump declared in no uncertain terms on Tuesday, “We’re going in. I didn’t say when, we’re going in.”

Weis spoke to National News Desk that same day, chastising Pritzker and Johnson for opposing Trump’s federal assistance efforts to combat crime.

OBAMA SLAMS TRUMP’S USE OF NATIONAL GUARD TO HELP CITIES FIGHT CRIME AS ‘DANGEROUS TREND’

Chicago, much like Washington, D.C., is one of America’s worst cities when it comes to violent crime.  (iStock)

After criticizing the city’s high level of Black-on-Black crime, Weis lamented that “the governor and the mayor said they don’t want any help. So, to me, when you refuse help you are saying you are happy with the numbers – and that is absolutely unacceptable in Chicago right now.”

He also criticized Pritzker specifically for walking near the lake in the early morning as if to show Chicago is safe, proposing, “Let him walk in the Austin neighborhood or the Inglewood neighborhoods at 11 o’clock, because that’s where many of his constituents live – and they’re not going to feel safe.”

“I think they are afraid that people will see what can be done if politicians commit to taking action and really want to make a difference,” Weis said. “That’s really the only reason I can think of because otherwise, it makes no sense.

“And if you look at what Mayor Muriel Bowser has done in D.C. – she’s embraced it and it’s made a huge difference. I wish they would learn from her.”

After Trump announced his plans to deploy National Guard troops and assume oversight of the Metropolitan Police Department, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser initially expressed concern. However, she admitted at a press conference last week that the federal surge has had a noticeable impact on one of America’s most dangerous cities, including a whopping 87% reduction in carjackings.

  • Chicago police will not collaborate with National Guard, federal agents if Trump moves on deployment: mayor

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, a Democrat, signed an executive order on Saturday prohibiting city police officers from collaborating with National Guard troops or federal agents if President Donald Trump follows through on his threats to deploy them to the Windy City.

“This executive order makes it emphatically clear that this president is not going to come in and deputize our police department,” Johnson said at a news conference with other city leaders.

The mayor’s order affirms that Chicago police officers will continue to enforce state and local laws, but will not work with the National Guard or federal agents on patrols, arrests, immigration enforcement or other law enforcement actions.

“We will protect our Constitution, we will protect our city, and we will protect our people,” he said. “We do not want to see tanks in our streets. We do not want to see families ripped apart. We do not want grandmothers thrown into the back of unmarked vans. We don’t want to see homeless Chicagoans harassed or disappeared by federal agents.”

The order also instructs city police to wear their official police uniforms, continue to identify themselves, follow body camera procedures and to not wear masks so they can be clearly distinguished from any federal operations.

“The Chicago Police Department will not collaborate with military personnel on police patrols or civil immigration enforcement,” Johnson said. “We will not have our police officers who are working hard every single day to drive down crime deputized to do traffic stops and checkpoints for the president.”

The order states that the deployment of federal military forces in Chicago without the consent of local authorities “undermines democratic norms, violates the City’s sovereignty, threatens civil liberties, and risks escalating violence rather than securing the peace.”

This order comes as Johnson and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker have been feuding with Trump over the potential of National Guard troops being deployed to Chicago to address crime in the city.

Johnson has cited data showing that violent crime has declined in the last year, including homicides and robberies dipping by more than 30%, and shootings dropping by nearly 40%.

Pritzker has also warned Trump that “action will be met with a response” and that a federal deployment without the state’s request would be “unconstitutional” and “un-American.”

Trump responded to the Democratic leaders last week by saying that Pritzker is “incompetent” and Johnson “no better.”

The White House dismissed Johnson’s order on Saturday, claiming that Democrats were attempting to make efforts to reduce crime a partisan issue.

“If these Democrats focused on fixing crime in their own cities instead of doing publicity stunts to criticize the President, their communities would be much safer,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said in a statement to Reuters.

Johnson said on Saturday that he was considering any legal and legislative measures to stop the federal government, including possible lawsuits.

“We will use the courts if that’s necessary,” Johnson said.

Previous deployments of the National Guard to Chicago were coordinated with local officials, according to Reuters. The president’s authority to deploy troops is limited under U.S. law, although there are no restrictions on sending ICE agents or other federal law enforcement officers.

Trump’s threat to deploy troops to the Windy City comes after he boosted the presence of federal law enforcement in Washington, D.C., in an attempt to cut down on crime.

Hundreds of federal agents and National Guard troops have been deployed to the streets of D.C. as part of the federal takeover of the district.

  • Kansas City police officer killed by fleeing suspect while deploying stop sticks to end pursuit

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Kansas City is mourning the loss of a police officer after he was fatally struck by a driver fleeing law enforcement while attempting to deploy stop sticks.

The Kansas City Police Department in Kansas identified the slain officer as 26-year-old Hunter Simoncic. The young officer graduated from the department’s academy in 2023.

Simoncic was struck early Tuesday morning while deploying stop sticks on State Avenue in an effort to stop a driver who was fleeing law enforcement, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Dennis Mitchell III, 31, is accused of hitting Simoncic and is charged with capital murder, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of theft, according to Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree on Wednesday.

The incident began at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when Kansas City officers responded to reports of shots fired on Everett Avenue, according to the department.

Officers arrived at the location at 12:40 a.m. to find an unconscious man, later identified as Mitchell, in the driver’s seat of a truck. He woke up when they approached him and fled the scene, sparking a pursuit.

Mitchell abandoned the truck he was driving for another truck and continued fleeing, KBI said.

While police continued pursuing Mitchell, Simoncic and another KCKPD officer exited their vehicle to stage stop sticks.  When Mitchell got close to that location, he allegedly drove toward Simoncic, hit him with the second truck and drove off.

Simoncic was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

After allegedly hitting the officer, Mitchell wrecked at around 12:55 a.m. on Kaw Drive. He was taken into custody and transported to the same hospital as Simoncic for treatment. He was released not long after and taken to the Wyandotte County Jail.

Police said they later learned both trucks Mitchell drove Tuesday night had been reported stolen.

The department said in a Facebook post that Simoncic’s death brings a “profound sense of loss and pain.”

Before joining KCKPD, Simoncic worked as a shift supervisor at the Southeast Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center, according to the department. He also held a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in forensic science.

He was also a volunteer at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School and read to children on a weekly basis through a program known as Lead to Read KC.

  • Bodycam video shows illegal immigrant truck driver speaking limited English with New Mexico officer

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

New bodycam footage has been released showing illegal immigrant truck driver Harjinder Singh struggling with limited English after he was pulled over by police for speeding in New Mexico last month – a detail that has since become a major talking point in the case.

The footage shows Singh — the suspect accused of jackknifing his 18-wheeler while making an illegal U-turn in Florida that killed three people — being stopped by a New Mexico State Police officer on July 3 for allegedly driving 60 mph in a 45-mph zone.

During the interaction, Singh appears apologetic as he receives a ticket from the trooper. He initially communicates without issue until after signing paperwork and preparing to leave, when the officer struggles to understand what the trucker is saying.

Bodycam still shows Harjinder Singh holding paperwork as a New Mexico State Police officer issues him a speeding ticket during a July 3 traffic stop. (New Mexico State Police bodycam)

TRUMP ADMIN THREATENS TO CUT MILLIONS IN FEDERAL FUNDING FROM 3 STATES OVER TRUCKER ENGLISH LANGUAGE RULES

“What’s that,” the trooper says, before Singh speaks again.

“I’m sorry, I guess I don’t understand what you’re saying,” the trooper replies.

“Maybe in this, this my ticket, on my license, how many years,” Singh says to the officer in broken English.

The officer then appears to understand the question and explains to Singh that he thinks the ticket will remain on his license for five to seven years,

Singh’s limited English has drawn sharp scrutiny since the Department of Transportation (DOT) said he failed an English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessment following the deadly crash in Fort Pierce, Florida. The DOT said that Singh provided the correct responses to just 2 of 12 verbal questions and only accurately identified 1 of 4 highway traffic signs, raising questions as to how and why he was driving a commercial truck in the first place.

Additionally, during the July 3 stop, Singh was not subjected to an English language proficiency test, which the DOT said was required by law beginning on June 25. State police or highway patrol officers are required to carry out such checks during routine roadside inspections.

“A driver who can’t understand English will not drive a commercial vehicle in this country. Period,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in May while announcing the new enforcement guidelines.

FLORIDA AG ANNOUNCES PROBE OF SANCTUARY JURISDICTIONS THAT GIVE TRUCKING LICENSES TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

On Tuesday, New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler pushed back on claims by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy that the state was not properly enforcing the new English language requirements.

Weisler said federal officials had mischaracterized New Mexico’s Commercial Driver’s License policy and compliance with the law, noting that while general guidelines were issued on June 25, no standardized testing procedure was provided.

“When State Police sought clarification, the response received was simply, ‘You know when somebody doesn’t speak English,’” Weisler said, adding that New Mexico developed its own compliance process and trained officers to apply it consistently.

Weisler also argued that New Mexico had kept federal regulators informed with updates in late July and mid-August — before the Florida crash occurred.

Regarding Singh’s July 3 stop, Weisler said an ELP test would not have been triggered even if the new rules had already been in effect.

“Both the Federal guidelines and today’s statements by the U.S. Department of Transportation make clear that ELP assessments are only required when there is a challenge in communication,” Weisler said.

“As the video of the traffic stop demonstrates, there were no communication issues between Mr. Singh and the officer. Therefore, there would have been no reason to initiate an ELP assessment.”

Harjinder Singh, 28, was arrested after allegedly making an unauthorized U-turn in Florida last week that resulted in a crash that left three people dead, officials said.

Singh, who crossed into the United States illegally in 2018 via the southern border, has been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide and was extradited to Florida to face charges after traveling to California in the aftermath of the crash.

According to the DOT, Singh was issued a regular full-term commercial driver’s license in the state of Washington in July 2023, but illegal immigrants are not allowed to obtain this type of license.

A year later, Singh was issued a limited-term/non-domiciled commercial driver’s license in California. The DOT is investigating further whether the issuance of that license followed federal regulations.

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

An Illinois man was arrested after he allegedly drugged his pregnant girlfriend with abortion-inducing pills, causing her to have a miscarriage, according to police.

Emerson Evans, 31, was charged with two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child, Bloomington police said in a news release.

Officers were called to a home in Bloomington on Friday at around 7 p.m., when they found a pregnant woman suffering a medical emergency.

During the probe, investigators determined that Evans administered abortion pills without the woman’s consent to cause her to miscarry, according to police. While abortion is legal in Illinois, intentional homicide of an unborn child carries a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison for each count.

After unknowingly taking the drugs, the woman began experiencing medical complications and lost her unborn child.

Evans’ girlfriend was seven weeks pregnant when she miscarried, according to IPM Newsroom.

He allegedly put four Mifepristone pills into his girlfriend’s vagina, according to the report. The pill is meant to be taken orally and the recommended dose is one pill.

“We are again saddened by the alleged criminal actions which resulted in harm to others,” Police Chief Jamal Simington said in a statement. “It is my hope the mother involved in the matter fully recovers and has the resources and support of this strong community in the future. The officers and detectives worked diligently and honorably through this very tough investigation.”

    The incident remains under investigation.

During a court hearing, Judge Amy McFarland said Evans allegedly told police he “made the decision” for his girlfriend, according to IPM Newsroom.

“Frankly, the number of pills demonstrates a lack of knowledge or consent,” Judge Amy McFarland said at the hearing.

Evans wanted to “effectuate his beliefs of what should occur in the absence of consent. That involved taking a life,” McFarland told the court.

  • Florida sheriff shows off $50K chain snatched from alleged drug dealer implicated in overdose death

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Sheriff Grady Judd, a no-nonsense Florida sheriff known for his tough talking and showmanship, announced the takedown of a drug-trafficking gang by donning the ringleader’s gold chain and bracelet during a press conference.

The Polk County sheriff wore the jewelry to drive home what he called the deadly consequences of so-called “low-level” drug dealing. He also held up seized guns to underline his point that dealers are armed and dangerous.

“I got their drip. I got their money. We got their guns. We got their dope,” Judd said Friday, unveiling the results of a yearlong investigation that led to the arrests of 32 suspects in Bartow.

Judd identified Nathaniel “Nate” Donald, a repeat offender, as heading the network and said a member of his ring sold cocaine to 65-year-old Irene Anderson on a Saturday night last year. Anderson collapsed and died hours later as she was on her way to church.

“She was walking out of her house to church when she collapsed. So, she died so Nate could have this drip,” Judd said. “Did you hear what I said? He’s buying this drip from selling drugs to people on the streets, one of which died.”

Judd said law enforcement carried out six wire intercepts and eight search warrants in Bartow last November, which uncovered $50,000 worth of jewelry.

“But I want you to imagine this for a minute. People continue to tell you that drugs are low-level and nonviolent,” Judd said. “They’re anything but low-level and nonviolent. Where you see $50,000 in drip, where you see that ‘not-so-dangerous’ drug of cannabis, you see guns and you see first-degree murder from overdose.”

Detectives identified Donald, Bryan “B” Myrick, and Isaiah “Bubba” Donald as key members of the network. Myrick, who was released from prison in 2021 for cocaine trafficking, now faces dozens of new counts, including conspiracy to sell cocaine and trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl and MDMA.

Troy Walker, supplied by Myrick, sold the cocaine to Anderson and has since been indicted for first-degree murder in her overdose death.

In total, investigators seized thousands of grams of illegal drugs with a combined street value of $150,000. Arrests included suspects already on probation or pre-trial release, and several firearms were recovered from convicted felons. Detectives said the suspects’ combined criminal histories add up to 554 felonies and 394 misdemeanors.

Judd said the only place for drug dealers is in prison, because when they are released they quickly reoffend — often with deadly consequences.

It was led by PCSO’s Tactical Drug Unit, Organized Crime Unit and the HIDTA Task Force with support from the State Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Border Patrol, FDLE, FBI, the Bartow Police Department, and other partners.

  • Rhode Island prosecutor in viral arrest video placed on unpaid leave, job future unclear

The Rhode Island assistant attorney general, whose arrest went viral earlier this week after she seemingly tried to use her position to evade arrest, telling officers they’d “regret” putting her behind bars, will be placed on unpaid leave.

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan, who was arrested for trespassing, was placed on paid leave directly after the incident while the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office reviewed the matter. But, starting Monday, Flanagan will go on unpaid leave, the office told Fox News Digital.

It is unclear how long Flanagan will remain on unpaid leave until a final determination is made on her employment. The Attorney General’s office did not respond to additional questions about its ongoing review of the matter, or when it might make a final decision.

State payroll records, according to the Boston Globe, show that Flanagan was raking in approximately $113,000 a year in her position as a Special Assistant Attorney General.

“I’m an AG! I’m an AG!” Flanagan could be heard saying to police as they tried to detain her for failing to comply with their demands. “You’re going to regret this. You’re going to regret it. I’m an A-” Flanagan said as she was escorted to the back of a police car and the door was shut.

“Good for you, I don’t give a s—,” one of the arresting officers can be heard saying back at one point.

In a subsequent radio interview following Flanagan’s arrest, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha called the incident “inexcusable behavior” that will likely result in “strong, strong sanction[s].” However, he did note that this isn’t the first time he’s dealt with a case like this involving his staff.

“I’ve got 110 lawyers, she embarrassed all of them. I haven’t had many issues like this while I’ve been attorney general. I’ve had a few, and I let one guy go for driving drunk – had to bring him back – well I didn’t have to, but did bring him back after I fired him about a year later because, again, I needed somebody to go into a courtroom and try ugly, hard murder cases,” Neronha told WPRO Radio.

“It’s just really hard to find and keep capable lawyers and so I just have to think really carefully about this one. But no question there will be a strong, strong sanction here,” the attorney general continued.

Neronha added that he believed the incident was alcohol-related, and noted that doesn’t necessarily excuse the behavior. He also said Flanagan had an “unblemished” record working under him, is thought highly of by the state bar association and is taking steps to make amends with the New Port Police Department, including issuing an apology.

The attorney general was asked about certain details of the incident, including whether Flanagan was right in telling the officer it was the law that he must turn off his body camera upon request by a citizen.

“I’m not sure what she was thinking. Clearly, she was not thinking straight,” said Neronha, who added that Flanagan was incorrect in her assertion that police officers must shut off their bodycam upon request.

“She’s humiliated herself,” Neronha added. “Regardless of what happens vis a vis her employment with us, she’s going to have a long time coming back from this. It’s just really unfortunate.”

  • Illegal immigrant charged for ramming truck into federal officers in California

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A 19-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico is facing federal charges after prosecutors say he rammed his truck into an agent and government vehicles during an immigration operation in San Diego.

The case comes the same week another illegal immigrant, Harjinder Singh, was accused in a Florida crash that killed three people — underscoring renewed scrutiny of Biden-era immigration enforcement.

According to an ICE statement, the illegal, Rolando Nava Pacheco, is facing up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines for striking a federal agent and government vehicles in an attempt to flee.

Homeland Security agents stopped Pacheco during an immigration operation in San Diego for suspected immigration violations on Aug. 11. According to a DOJ statement, after the federal agents identified themselves as law enforcement, Pacheco attempted to flee by accelerating his white truck and striking an agent and a government vehicle.

The DOJ statement says the agents “verbally announced themselves as federal agents and requested identification from vehicle’s driver.”

“As the white truck recklessly tried to flee the area, a federal agent driving a government vehicle attempted to block the path of the white truck,” the DOJ statement said.

As a result, “the driver of the white truck proceeded to strike the federal agent’s vehicle head on.”

Pacheco is now facing charges of assault on a federal officer resulting in bodily injury and destruction of federal property.

Fox News Digital reached out to Pacheco’s attorney for comment.

Patrick Divver, San Diego field office director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, commented that the operation “demonstrates the commitment of ERO officers to enforcing federal immigration laws and protecting public safety.

“Despite the challenges encountered, our officers remain dedicated to carrying out their duties with professionalism,” he said.

“The arrest of this individual for assaulting our officers or agents underscores our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the safety of law enforcement personnel and holding offenders accountable,” said Homeland Security Investigations San Diego Special Agent in Charge Shawn Gibson.

“We will not tolerate violence against law enforcement, and we are resolute in our pursuit of justice,” added Gibson.

This comes as another illegal, Indian national Singh, is accused of causing a crash in Fort Pierce, Florida, that killed three people.

Singh, who crossed into the United States illegally in 2018 via the southern border, obtained a commercial driver’s license in California. He attempted to obtain work authorization, but it was rejected by the first Trump administration on Sept. 14, 2020, according to Tricia McLaughlin, Homeland Security assistant secretary for public affairs.

The Department of Transportation said in a statement that Singh failed his English proficiency and road signs tests, “providing correct responses to just 2 of 12 verbal questions and only accurately identifying 1 of 4 highway traffic signs.”

According to a new study by Pew Research, the illegal immigrant population in the United States reached a record 14 million in 2023 under the Biden administration.
