    Planet Hollywood is scheduled to close its poker room on January 31, 2026. This decision marks the second time the casino has shuttered its poker operations in recent years. The current iteration of the Planet Hollywood Poker Room lasted less than nine months after a highly publicized return to the Las Vegas Strip in May 2025.

    The closure follows a difficult period for the venue, which struggled to maintain a consistent player base despite significant investment. When the Planet Hollywood Poker Room reopened last year, it was moved from its traditional spot on the main gaming floor to a new space on the mezzanine level. This updated area featured 23 tables, more than doubling the capacity of the original room. The facility was designed to offer a more modern experience with views overlooking the casino floor.

    However, the location proved to be a significant hurdle for the operation. Industry analysts noted that the second floor position removed the Planet Hollywood Poker Room from the natural flow of foot traffic. While the main casino floor often remained crowded with tourists and casual gamblers, the poker room frequently struggled to fill tables. Reports indicated that the room often hosted only a single active game during hours when competitors were at full capacity.

    The timing of the shutdown has surprised some in the gaming community, as the venue recently hosted a successful World Series of Poker Circuit stop. That event drew hundreds of entries and generated a prize pool of nearly one million dollars. Despite the success of large tournament series, the day to day cash game revenue was not sufficient to justify the continued use of the space.

    Caesars Entertainment, the parent company of the resort, confirmed that no employees will lose their jobs as a result of the decision. All staff members from the Planet Hollywood Poker Room will be offered transfers to other company properties, specifically Caesars Palace and Horseshoe Las Vegas.

    With this exit, the number of active poker rooms in Las Vegas will drop to 18. This continues a long term trend of consolidation within the market, as casinos increasingly prioritize high margin offerings like slot machines over the labor intensive requirements of poker. Following the closure, poker enthusiasts looking for games within the Caesars portfolio will be directed to the remaining rooms on the Strip.

    The Caesars Palace poker room has moved back to its original location on the casino floor after a brief absence, reopening with a refreshed setup and fewer tables. The venue closed in August 2024 when the resort needed room for a high-limit slot salon. A temporary poker facility opened in May 2025 in the Appian Way retail promenade, near the statue of David.

    As of November 2025, the Caesars Palace poker room is once again located adjacent to the sportsbook. The renovated layout includes 16 tables, two fewer than before the closure. The design prioritizes more space and comfort, with ergonomic chairs and increased walking room between tables.

    To sweeten the deal, Caesars has raised the hourly comp rate for live-action cash games: players now earn $3 per hour in casino credits (up from $2). Cash games continue alongside a schedule of daily tournaments. For example, tables run $100 buy-in events with multiple start times, each guaranteeing a $1,000 prize pool and offering a $50 add-on.

    The rake structure remains unchanged: for a $1/$3 No-Limit Hold ’Em game, the house collects 10 % of the pot up to a maximum of $6; for $2/$5 and $5/$5 games, rake drops to 5 % with the same cap. Mixed games, pot-limit Omaha, and limit games carry a 10 % rake.

    This reopening reflects a modest but meaningful investment by Caesars in its poker offering. The room may no longer be a major revenue driver, but it remains a valued amenity and destination for poker players. For now, the Caesars Palace poker room is back home.

    Station Casinos has confirmed that the Green Valley Ranch poker room in Henderson, Nevada, will reopen later this year following a major renovation. The poker room, closed since 2020 amid the pandemic, is part of a broader $200 million upgrade across the resort. The resort, located about 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, is over two decades old, and it is undergoing refreshes to its rooms, suites and event spaces.

    When it reopens, Green Valley Ranch poker room will feature 16 tables and new chairs in its original spot next to the sportsbook. The renovated space will be almost double the size of the poker room before it closed. The facility is expected to operate around the clock, making it the only 24/7 poker room in Henderson.

    Although the exact reopening date has not been set, Station Casinos has indicated the Green Valley Ranch launch will occur in late 2025. As part of the reintroduction, the casino plans to host a tournament and run promotional giveaways to attract players back.

    Reports suggest that the poker room will focus largely on low-stakes games, matching the style of play that was common before the facility’s shutdown. The layout and features are designed to appeal to a steady stream of regulars and casual players alike. Station Casinos already runs three other poker rooms in the Las Vegas area. These are located at Boulder Station to the east of the Strip, Red Rock Resort on the west side, and Santa Fe Station in the city’s northwest sector.

    The return of Green Valley Ranch poker room marks a significant step in Station Casinos restoration of live poker offerings. With 24/7 service, expanded capacity, and a refreshed layout, the venue is being positioned to regain a central role in Henderson’s gaming scene.

    Las Vegas is getting one of its poker rooms back. Station Casinos announced Monday that live poker will return to the Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, a 15-minute drive from the Strip.

    The poker room, which the locals casino closed during COVID, will reopen by December, with 16 tables instead of the 22 (according to PokerAtlas.com) that it had pre-pandemic.

    Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the room will deal fixed-limit hold’em, no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, and Omaha hi/lo in cash games and tournaments.

    Knowing When to Fold ‘Em

    Green Valley Ranch’s poker room will be only the 19th in a town that had more than 60 in the early-aughts. (It would have been the 20th, but the Poker Palace Casino will close on October 1. And its new owners, Truckee Gaming LLC, are planning to reopen it without poker.)

    Around 40 Las Vegas poker rooms have closed since the poker boom started going bust around 2012. After COVID, Green Valley Ranch’s poker room, located steps from its sportsbook, was repurposed as a smoke-free slot machine area.

    Poker rooms don’t typically return once they’re converted to slot areas. That’s because, per square foot, slots generate much more revenue for casinos. (Poker provides no edge to the house. Casinos don’t directly benefit from player losses and, instead, earn rake, a small percentage taken from each pot in cash games, or tournament fees.)

    As Stations admitted in a press release, however, it was customer demand that was responsible.

    “We took our guests’ feedback loud and clear and are pleased to announce the return of poker, among the many exciting upgrades happening at the property,” said Ken Janssen, Green Valley Ranch’s GM and VP.  (Green Valley Ranch is in the midst of a $200 million remodel.)

    Poker players rejoice as plans for a brand new Venetian poker room have been revealed! This coming after the seeming consolidation of poker to the Horseshoe for Caesars properties, as they move their beloved World Series of Poker events to the redesigned venue.

    Now, the updated Venetian poker room will rise to the challenge, with some fifty tables spread across a 14,000 square foot layout. That would make it the largest poker room in Vegas, and throw down the gauntlet to all who would challenge them (hear that MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment?).

    The new room is going to open on Level 2 the casino sometime this summer, which will make it conveniently located from either the Venetian or the Palazzo self-parking area. The move will also mean a closer proximity to the Grand Canal Shoppes.

    Chief Gaming Officer at The Venetian, Danny Ruiz, stated that “The expansion of the poker room is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts of re-imagining the gaming experience at The Venetian Resort.” The relocation of the Venetian poker room also aims to improve accessibility and convenience for guests, making it easier access to the room from different areas of the casino and resort.

    Additionally, the upgraded room will offer a self-serve soft drinks and coffee, dedicated restroom facilities, and televisions placed conveniently throughout the location. There will also be USB and USB-C charging ports at each seat, as well as a dedicated streaming facility for vlogging and live-streaming.

    The Venetian believes their new poker room is an ‘investment in their players’, and they cannot wait for it to debut this summer. The room was designed to provide an elevated playing experience and everything from design details to enhancements were made with the players in mind.” Ruiz said.
