Spotify is rolling out a new feature that’s meant to make transitions in between tracks even smoother. If you’ll recall, the streaming service released the ability to create customized transitions within playlists in August last year. It gave people a way to create uninterrupted progressions and eliminate awkward silences between songs. Now, Premium users will be able to make sure the songs in their playlists flow seamlessly even further by reordering tracks based on their keys and BPM or beats per minute.
The new feature can rearrange playlists with one tap. All paying users have to do is tap Mix on one of their playlists and then tap the Edit button. From there, they can scroll down to find the Smart Reorder option. Tapping Smart Reorder will automatically rearrange songs according to their keys and BPM without users having to do anything else. They just have to click Save so that the change to their playlist takes effect.
Spotify says users have streamed over 220 hours of their mixed playlists since it introduced custom transitions last year. It also listed some of the most popular ones on the platform, including The Weeknd’s Wake Me Up transitioning into After Hours and Flo Rida’s Low into Rihann’s S&M.
There’s no better time of year—festive vibes everywhere—to dive back into jazz. The holiday season is peak cozy, and jazz sets the mood perfectly. This winter, we’re putting Laufey at the top of our playlists. Picture it: snow gently falling outside, a crackling fireplace, a steaming cup of cocoa in hand, a romance novel by your side, and Laufey’s Christmas songs playing softly in the background. That’s the holiday vibe we’re chasing!
To make it happen, here are four Laufey songs we’d recommend adding to your winter playlists.
1. ‘Winter Wonderland’
We would be mistaken if we didn’t include a song or two from Laufey’s A Very Laufey Holidayon this playlist. Your Laufey winter playlist starts with ‘Winter Wonderland’ to set the mood right, and we can’t imagine “walking in a winter wonderland” with any other artist.
We move into our second recommendation, ‘Silver Lining’ from Laufey’s 2025 album A Matter of Time. Even though ‘Silver Lining’ isn’t an official holiday song, it matches the vibes of this season perfectly. If you’re falling in love under the mistletoe this Christmas, we know you’ll absolutely adore this song and be replaying it all December long.
A hint of fog and misty cold air is just what we need this wintertime. Our third Laufey recommendation for your playlists is ‘Misty’ from Laufey’s 2023 album, Bewitched. The beautiful jazz instrumentals throughout this song remind us of Christmas morning, unwrapping gifts with our loved ones. If there’s only one artist you’re going to listen to this festive season, make it Laufey.
We’re ending this short but sweet playlist with another one of our favorites from A Very Laufey Holiday. ‘Love to Keep Me Warm’ is a classic Christmas love song, and we absolutely adore Laufey’s rendition of it. To keep us warm this season, we’re sipping peppermint hot chocolates, listening to Laufey’s music, and hugging our loved ones tight.
Which of these four Laufey songs are you adding to your winter playlists? Will you be listening to ‘Winter Wonderland’ on Christmas morning like us? Let us know all about it in the comments or on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
If there’s one thing about us here at The Honey Pop, it’s that we LOVE our artists with accents. One Direction, 5SOS, The Academic, Yungblud, the list goes on and on! The list, however, would NOT be complete without New Rules. If you’re new to the group, or if you’re a long-time fan, we are here to give you the top four New Rules songs that you NEED to add to your playlist. Buckle up, rule number one for New Rules is you must be prepared for every emotion imaginable.
‘Really Wanna Dance With You’
This song is giving hopeless romance in the cheesiest way possible. It’s about seeing someone across the room and debating how to approach them, but overthinking it. Let’s be honest – we’ve all been there. In the verses and the music video, however, it works out! Add this song to give you the luck and confidence you may need the next time you “really wanna” dance with someone.
“And my shoes stuck to the floor
And the bell rang for last call.”
‘Drunk Texts’
We are going to drop the mood a bit for this one, so be ready to stare out of the window and pretend you are in a movie. Between the soft guitar and the harmonies, this song hits us directly in the chest, and when the lyrics are added, that feeling increases tenfold. It perfectly encapsulates the feeling of losing someone and having no idea where you went wrong, but only knowing that you miss the person deeply. If you are a fan of Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, and crying, this song is the perfect addition to your playlist. (We are giving you the acoustic version to hit even harder <3)
“I die a hundred times
Anytime I see your face”
‘Go The Distance’
Long-distance has to be one of the most difficult hurdles some people have to jump in a relationship. This song addresses that topic, but manages to maintain a hopeful tone with upbeat instrumentals that encourage listeners to dance. If you have a soft spot for ‘Beside You’ by 5 Seconds of Summer, this song follows a very similar theme! We highly recommend ‘Go The Distance’ to go on your road trip playlist! This is for sure one of the most bittersweet New Rules songs to exist.
“Wherever you are, I won’t let you go
We’ll go the distance”
‘ONE LESS WORRY’
Break-ups are never easy. ‘ONE LESS WORRY’ takes this and tries to find the positive in the negative. It talks about losing someone, but also losing the need to always worry about them. It goes back and forth between the pros and cons of no longer having to worry about that person. This highlights how recovering from a breakup is far from linear. It’s a beautiful piece that would be a good addition to any playlist (especially if it’s a playlist containing some stellar vocals!)
“And sometimes I don’t miss you
But I really have to try”
These four New Rules songs can fit into almost any playlist. They can even make a playlist of their own, as when played in order, they tell a story from falling in love to breaking up. Let us know what your other favorite New Rules songs are @TheHoneyPop!
