  • Love Is Blind’s Alexa Lemieux Reveals She Got a Boob Job Amid Divorce

Love Is Blind’s Alexa Lemieux revealed that she underwent a breast augmentation and now is on the road to recovery.

“My girls got a little ✨makeover✨ @Solomon Plastic Surgery,” the Netflix personality, 31, shared alongside a TikTok video on Tuesday, January 13, detailing what she had done in the clip captioned, “Get unready with me while I talk about my 🍒surgery.”

Lemieux shared that she is five days post-op and is already starting to feel “back to normal.”

“I did a lift and an implant,” she said while wearing a surgical bra and washing her face before bed. “Recovery hasn’t been as tough as I thought that it would be.”

Lemieux noted that she’s been wanting to get a boob job ever since she stopped breastfeeding her 17-month-old daughter, Vienna, telling her followers “my girls just never sat the same.” The reality star pointed out that she was going to wait until she was done having kids, but “since that timeline shifted, I decided that there’s no time like the present.”

Us Weekly confirmed in December 2025 that Love Is Blind season 3 alum Brennon Lemieux filed for divorce from Alexa, claiming in his petition filed weeks prior in November that their marriage had “become insupportable.”

Greg Gayne/Netflix Love Is Blind alums Alexa and Brennon Lemieux have welcomed their first baby. “Our perfect daughter, Vienna Ziva Lemieux, born July 31, 2024,” the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post on Thursday, August 15. “She has mommy’s hair and daddy’s dimples and we couldn’t be more in love 🩷.” Alexa and Brennon […]

As for what led to the split, Brennon, 35, stated they were parting ways due to “conflict of personalities” that prevent any “reasonable expectation of reconciliation.” In the docs, he also requested to retain any assets he had prior to their nuptials. (LIB season 3 viewers got to see Brennon and Alexa tie the knot in June 2021, which aired on Netflix the following year. The now-exes went on to welcome daughter Vienna in July 2024.)

“Obviously, I have a lot going on in my life right now and I have been working hard on healing the inside,” Alexa said in her TikTok, crediting therapy for helping her process those emotions. “I also wanted to do something for me on the outside.”

Alexa said she did “multiple consults” before deciding on her surgeon, revealing she wanted a natural, frame-fitting size that was not “in your face.”

  • Miami plastic surgery center gives up license after accusations of illegal surgeries

    dneal@miamiherald.com

A Miami plastic surgery center whose owner is accused of helping with at least one liposuction by one of the unlicensed doctors who performed surgeries there has surrendered its office surgery license.

Before the final order on its license relinquishment posted last week, Little Havana’s New World Medical & Mystic Cosmetic Surgery Center, 2020 SW First St., had been on suspension since May. An emergency suspension order from Florida Surgeon General Joseph Lapado said Mystic owner Maria Gonzalez helped with an Oct. 12 liposuction by Wilson Muñoz Suarez.

Muñoz doesn’t hold a medical license in the United States. Nor does fellow Doral resident Manuel Lazzaro. Both were arrested in April after what the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and prosecutors say were unlicensed surgeries at Mystic that left patients injured. An arrest report says one woman suffered “permanent disfigurement.”

Muñoz, 60, now faces three counts of practicing medicine without a license and one count of resisting arrest without violence. Lazzaro, 58, has been charged with two counts of unlicensed practice of a healthcare profession with injury and one count of practicing medicine without a license. Each will enter a plea when they formally face the charges in court in December.

The emergency suspension order also said Gonzalez tried to reopen New World/Mystic in a new location on Coral Way not yet inspected and approved by the Florida Department of Health.

Gonzalez didn’t respond to a message from the Miami Herald seeking comment.

After the emergency suspension order, the Florida Department of Health filed an administrative complaint in June against Mystic Cosmetic Center Inc. That started the disciplinary process that, with the license already suspended, could have led to full license revocation.

A condition of the voluntary relinquishment of license is that Mystic Cosmetic Center Inc., the licensed entity, agrees to never apply for an office surgery registration license again.

The relinquishment paperwork doesn’t name individuals, only the “Respondent” — Mystic Cosmetic Center Inc. The building at 2020 SW First St. remains under renovation.

County records say it’s still owned by “2020 SW 1st LLC,” for which the officers are Jadhiel Reyes, Yaritzza Gonzalez and Maria Gonzalez.

  • PHOTOS: ‘RHOC’ Fans Suspect Emily Simpson Got a Chin Implant, See the Before & After Pics That Sparked Plastic Surgery Rumors

    Credit: Instagram

Did Emily Simpson go under the knife ahead of the recently filmed Real Housewives of Orange County reunion?

Following the reveal of the season 19 reunion looks, Emily, 49, who’s been open about her past plastic surgeries, faced rumors of a chin implant, as before and after images shared on social media seemed to confirm that something had changed with her face.

“Emily’s chin implant is chinning,” wrote a Bravo fan page on X.

“Is that what it is? I couldn’t put my finger on what was different,” someone wrote in response to the images.

“I was wondering what was different,” another agreed.

“This side by side is insane wow,” exclaimed a third.

But others said that it wasn’t an implant, but filler.

“It’s the fillers she keeps getting. [Jennifer Pedranti] does it too,” one person alleged.

Meanwhile, another added, “At the most it is masseter botox, chin shadowing with filler and botox and direct chin filler for her dimples. Most likely though it’s just masseter botox which does wonders for the jawline and TMJ too!”

During a 2019 interview on The Domenick Nati Show, Emily opened up about the plastic surgeries she’d had over the years, sharing that she’d undergone a breast reduction, breast lift, and breast implants.

“I’ve had three breast surgeries and I’ll probably do it again at some point, whenever I feel the need,” she admitted. “When I turned 40, I did a reduction and a lift. So, that was the last one, but that was the third one that I’ve had. I have no shame in the plastic surgery game.”

Two years later, during a Q&A on Instagram, Emily responded to a fan who asked her how much surgery she’d had on her face

“Zero… But I need a lower lift/tightening thing done asap,” she replied.

Then, in 2023, on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, Emily confirmed she’d gotten “liposuction” in her arms and a “breast reduction” in January of that year.

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 19 reunion begins next Thursday, November 6, at 8/7c on Bravo.

  • ‘I was today years old’: Miami woman gets ‘gummy bear’ implants. Then she finds out something shocking when she gets a CAT scan 4 years later

A Miami, Florida, woman decides to get “gummy bear” breast implants in 2021. However, she discovers that her surgery didn’t go as agreed after she gets into a car accident.

In a video with over 288,000 views, TikToker Sanadamarie (@sanadamarie) explains that she became determined to get her breasts done in 2021. She says she wanted them smaller and more lifted, but liked the look of implants.

So, she calls the plastic surgery center she was a prior patient of on a Friday. She schedules her surgery for the following Monday.

“They kept saying, ‘Oh, we can use your fat and we can just make them sit up.’ But I knew that in order to get the look that I wanted, I was going to have to get implants,” she says. In some cases, surgeons may suggest a breast lift with a fat transfer instead of implants, which are commonly made of silicone or saline, per the Cleveland Clinic.

Instead, the TikToker requests gummy bear implants. These implants are made of silicone gel that mimics the density and feel of a gummy bear. According to Healthline, gummy bear implants may hold their shape better and appear more natural.

For four years after the surgery, she says she was under the impression that she received breast implants. However, a CAT scan after an accident reveals the truth.

Did she actually have gummy bear implants?

The TikToker says she got into a serious car accident, which required her to get a full-body CAT scan to check for internal injuries. The doctor asks her if she has any implants, and she tells them about her previous plastic surgery.

A few days later, the doctor called her to say they didn’t see the implants on the CAT scan. They worry that something might be wrong with the machine.

“I’m not thinking too much into it,” she says. However, she goes back to the doctor for another scan.

“Come to find out, I don’t have 300cc gummy bears at all,” she says.

How did viewers react to her discovery?

In the comments, viewers suggest the TikToker seek legal advice.

“Get a copy of the surgery report from when you had them put in. There should be every single detail in there including a list of all the tools and what exactly they implanted. I’m pretty several people sign off on it,” a commenter says.

“Sue for malpractice and a product you didn’t pay for you were scammed you paid for gummy implants and were charged for a different type of implant that were cheap and wasnt the full expensive price you paid and the pain you felt was from the wrong implants,” another suggests.

In a follow-up video, Sanadamarie says that when she received her implants in 2021, she received an implant card with their serial number and the doctor’s name.

She says she has hired a lawyer, whom she has given all of her scans and surgical paperwork to. While the doctor who performed her surgery no longer works at the surgery center, she says her lawyer reached out to him.

“Girl he still haven’t responded back yet my lawyer is filing all kinds of stuff so i’ll literally have to see him in court,” she writes in a comment.

Some say they’ve experienced similarly misleading plastic surgeries.

“I went thru something similar I paid for bbl and I only got lipo and I had incisions on my back area but when I went for round 2 doctors said I couldn’t have received no bbl from the incisions I had,” one writes.

  • PHOTOS: RHONY’s Jill Zarin Labeled “Unrecognizable” After Facelift as Fans Compare Her to Heather McDonald

    Credit: Elder Ordonez/INSTARimages

Jill Zarin shared a video of herself on Sunday in which the Real Housewives of New York City alum looked quite different than her former self — and fans couldn’t help but take notice.

Over a year after the 61-year-old underwent a lower face lift and “other minor tweaks,” Jill was accused of being “unrecognizable” and compared to the likes of Heather McDonald, 55, and Jennifer Grey, 65, the latter of whom’s nose job nearly ruined her career in the 1990s.

“My love language? A cold Diet Coke straight from my vending machine … What’s yours?” Jill asked her fans and followers on October 26, sparking a bevy of replies.

After her video was shared, Jill was met with several kind comments, including, “You look like you are in your twenties Jill,” “You look soooo pretty always,” and “You look 15 years younger.”

She was also faced with more critical statements, like, “You don’t look the same,” and “Wow— that does not even look like your face anymore. Not bad, just an entirely different face.”

“Between the Ozempic and the plastic surgery, I gotta ask … Who are you ???” one person wrote.

Meanwhile, on X, photos from Jill’s video were shared, along with a message that said, “Oh my god that surgeon put his foot on the back of Jill Zarin’s neck and yanked her so hard she became Heather McDonald.”

“Literally had to stare at it for 7 minutes to see if it was some kind of AI,” one commenter responded.

“It honestly looks like AI. Are you sure she just isn’t using a filter?” another asked.

Other people said Jill was “unrecognizable” and claimed “all the housewives are starting to look like each other!!”

“OMG. At first glance, I thought this was Jennifer Grey,” wrote someone else.

“This is ridiculous, what the hell does she see when she looks at herself in the mirror?!? Another Jennifer Gray situation on steroids,” another commenter replied.

“Omg she doesn’t even resemble the old Jill,” said another fan.

Jill Zarin was featured in a full-time role on the first four seasons of The Real Housewives of New York City.

  • Simone Biles Seemingly Confirms Boob Job After Plastic Surgery Rumors

Simone Biles just landed more than a tumbling pass — she may have confirmed long-running speculation that she underwent a breast augmentation.

The gold-medal winning gymnast, 28, shared a not-so-subtle hint that she had the cosmetic procedure in a new Instagram Stories post shared on Wednesday, October 15, along with a video of herself jumping on the in-ground trampoline outside of her stunning abode.

“First flip – in a year – at the new house – with new [cherries emoji],” Biles wrote in the caption, appearing to clear the air about rumors that she underwent a breast enhancement.

In the video, Biles celebrated the moment by doing a back flip with flawless form in honor of her life changes. “I’ll do one more!” she declared with excitement. When she was told to try out a triple double, the athlete playfully replied with a smile, “Absolutely not. I got a cramp.”

Fans speculated that Biles went under the knife after the Olympic sensation shared sizzling bikini-clad snaps from her Belize getaway with her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, in July.

Biles showed off her curves in a Fendi two-piece, accessorizing with a chunky gold chain necklace as she posed alongside Owens, 30, and for a solo shot with a drink in hand.

Up until this point, she had not addressed plastic surgery speculation, but was candid about making small tweaks to her appearance.

“For my 27th birthday, I got Botox, like, baby Botox, just right here in my T-zone, and I did not like it,” Biles revealed in a “Get Ready With Me” video she posted last August. “So I haven’t got it again, and mind you, that was back in March.”

Biles seemingly confirmed that she went under the knife after other stars shared details about their boob jobs earlier this year.

Kristin Cavallari also spoke candidly about her size choice during a Q&A on Instagram that same month.

“I was 300 cc before and now I’m 340,” the Laguna Beach alum, 38, responded. “Everyone thinks I went a lot bigger but I’ve just pushed them up a couple of times since getting them done.”

“Everyone likes to talk about L.A. and what that road looks like for me,” Biles revealed. “So, currently, I am taking some time off from the gym because I think it’s really important that your physical health matches your mental health.”

“That’s why you saw so much of my success in Paris, because the mental and the physical were right on par,” Biles highlighted. (She took home three gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning the women’s artistic individual all-around, women’s vault and team all-around with Suni Lee, Jade Carey, Hezly Rivera and Jordan Chiles. Biles also won silver in the floor exercise with Chiles, 24, taking home bronze after the score changed in her favor.)

  • Want to See Kris Jenner’s Plastic Surgeon? You’ll Need a Secret Password

If you want a consultation with Kris Jenner’s plastic surgeon of choice, you’d better know the password. While appearing on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast, the 69-year-old Kardashian matriarch opened up about her recent facelift.

Jenner revealed that her surgeon, Dr. Steven Levine, gave her permission to reveal that he performed the procedure on one condition: that Jenner create a password for anyone in her inner circle who wants a consultation with him. “He didn’t want the attention, which I loved,” Jenner told host Amanda Hirsch. “I said, ‘But do I have your permission to say who you are?’ And he goes, ‘Listen, I’ll tell you what. As long as we can come up with a password so that if somebody calls and says, ‘I’m Kris Jenner’s best friend, and can I have a consultation?’ they have to say the secret password.’”

Apparently, even before her most recent facelift, imposters frequently called the office claiming to be close confidants of Jenner’s in order to snag an appointment. “If I told you how many times his office has called and said, you know, ‘Julie Monopoly’s on the phone, and she says she’s your best friend,’” said Jenner. “And I’m like, I’ve never heard of her. So definitely people have tried to get in.”

Jenner opened up to Vogue Arabia in August about her decision to get a facelift, revealing that though she had previously gotten one 15 years ago, she felt that she was in need of a “refresh.” “Just because you get older, it doesn’t mean you should give up on yourself,” she said. “If you feel comfortable in your skin and you want to age gracefully—meaning you don’t want to do anything—then don’t do anything. But for me, this is aging gracefully. It’s my version.”

Plenty of others are seemingly trying  to age just like Jenner, but only those in Jenner’s inner circle know the code. “If you know me, you know what the password is,” Jenner said.

Haart also shared a before-and-after photo of herself from 2019 to the present day, highlighting the procedures’ results.

  • What has Donatella Versace done to achieve her ‘youthful’ facial transformation at 70?

From her outfits, to her brand, to her beauty choices, Donatella Versace has always been a ‘more is more’ kind of person – she was responsible for Taylor Swift’s OTT Eras Tour sparkles, after all – so it came as a surprise to the designer’s followers when she posted a new photo to Instagram, debuting a new, lowkey look.

Fashion-wise, the 70-year-old displayed her usual choice of high-octane glamour in a dazzling dress, but when it came to her beauty choices, Donatella looked far more natural, eschewing her usual heavy eye makeup for a laid-back makeup look – but is her new appearance down to more than different makeup? We asked aesthetics experts for their take.

“Donatella’s appearance is noticeably softer and more refined,” says plastic surgeon Dr. Jesús Olivas Menayo. “Her lips appear smaller and less filled, her skin looks tighter and fresher, and her makeup is more natural than we’re used to seeing. Overall, her face looks more balanced and rejuvenated.”

The surgeon says the designer’s jawline is the biggest difference, explaining: “Her jawline in particular seems more defined, which gives her whole face a lifted quality. This could, of course, be the result of a surgical facelift, but it could also be achieved with advanced non-surgical treatments such as QuantumRF or Morpheus8 Burst, both of which use radiofrequency energy to lift, contour and tighten the skin.”

Fellow aesthetics expert Anastasia Koles agrees that Donatella’s jawline has been altered, adding: “Her jawline appears more defined, which could be the result of dermal filler to enhance structure or skin-tightening treatments such as RF microneedling, both of which are commonly used to create a sharper, more contoured appearance.”

Aesthetics experts suspect that Donatella has changed her approach to surgery

That said, Anastasia, who is the founder of ALTA Medispa, adds it could be down to Donatella’s age. “Natural ageing itself can also play a role, as changes in skin and tissue over time can make lips and facial features look different.

“When it comes to Donatella, it’s impossible to say with certainty what procedures she may or may not have had without assessing her in person. “

“It’s very possible she has dissolved some of her previous filler – especially in the lips, as they now look smaller and more in proportion to the rest of her features,” says Dr. Jesús Olivas Menayo.

“We’re seeing this more and more – women are moving away from the ‘overfilled’ look and choosing a more natural, refined aesthetic.”

Anastasia adds: “Donatella’s lips do appear smaller compared to before, which can happen for a few reasons. In the past, she seems to have had permanent fillers, likely silicone, in combination with hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers layered on top. If the HA filler has been dissolved or has naturally broken down, that could explain the reduction in volume.

“The initial widening of her lips may also have been due to silicone combined with the effects of a high-tension facelift, where the skin is pulled quite tightly to the sides of the face.”

Different procedures or not, Dr. Jesús concludes of the icon’s new look: “Her softer makeup choices really complete the transformation – showing how a less ‘done’ approach can make the overall effect feel fresher and more youthful.”

  • Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Dr. Meegan Gruber Empowers Women Through Education, Prevention, and Hope

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Dr. Meegan Gruber Empowers Women Through Education, Prevention, and Hope

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to shine a spotlight on one of the most pervasive and challenging health issues facing women today. As the country marks this month of awareness and advocacy, Dr. Meegan Gruber, a board-certified plastic surgeon and renowned expert in breast reconstructive surgery, is committed to empowering women with the knowledge they need to face breast cancer head-on. From early detection and treatment to life after recovery, Dr. Gruber aims to provide both education and hope for those affected by this life-altering disease.

The Fearful Reality of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide. In the United States alone, approximately one in eight women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. The fear of receiving such a diagnosis can be overwhelming, and for many, it’s a reminder of the uncertainties that come with such a life-changing condition.

“Breast cancer is a profound emotional and physical battle,” Dr. Gruber said. “The worry isn’t just about survival—it’s also about how the disease and its treatments will affect your identity, your body, and your confidence. Many women grapple with the fear of losing their breasts, which can be tied to their sense of femininity.”

While early detection is key, many women avoid regular screenings due to fear of the results. Mammograms, self-examinations, and awareness of personal risk factors are essential steps that cannot be overlooked. Though the journey can be overwhelming, taking control of your health is the most empowering action you can take.

    Hope and Empowerment Through Education

While the fear surrounding breast cancer is undeniable, there is also hope—thanks to modern medical advancements, survival rates continue to rise. Early-stage breast cancer, when detected and treated promptly, has a nearly 100% five-year survival rate. Treatments have become more targeted and less invasive, leading to better outcomes and improved quality of life post-treatment.

Dr. Gruber, who has treated many breast cancer survivors, highlights the importance of patient education in navigating breast cancer. “Knowledge is power. Understanding your options, both in terms of medical treatment and breast augmentation or reconstructive surgery, can alleviate fear and restore a sense of control during a difficult time. I work closely with patients to develop personalized surgical plans that focus not just on physical recovery but also on emotional healing,” she said.

For those facing a breast cancer diagnosis, reconstructive surgery offers an opportunity to rebuild confidence. Whether opting for breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy with reconstruction, the options available today are more advanced than ever, allowing for breast augmentation and natural-looking results.

A Bright Future: Stories of Survival and Strength

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is not only a time to reflect on the hardships of the disease but also a time to celebrate the survivors who inspire us with their resilience. One of Dr. Gruber’s patients, Jane (a pseudonym to protect her privacy), is a breast cancer survivor who underwent breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. Jane’s story is one of hope, strength, and joy.

“I never imagined I could feel like myself again after cancer,” Jane said. “Dr. Gruber not only gave me back my body, but she also gave me back my confidence. The reconstructive process helped me feel whole again, and I’m forever grateful for her care and skill.”

October serves as a reminder that breast cancer doesn’t define a person. Survivors like Jane embody the strength and courage that women across the world are capable of, and with ongoing research and awareness, the future for breast cancer patients continues to improve.

Take Action: Early Detection and Support

Dr. Gruber encourages all women to take charge of their breast health by scheduling regular mammograms and practicing self-exams. For those already facing breast cancer, know that you are not alone. Whether you need information, treatment options, or awake surgery, Dr. Gruber and her team are here to guide you through every step of your journey.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let us unite in education, early detection, and support to ensure that more women survive, thrive, and feel empowered after breast cancer.

Cardi B Just Revealed If She Really Had Plastic Surgery Again After Baby No. 3

Just weeks after giving birth to her third child, some social media users were accusing Cardi B of getting plastic surgery again—but the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is setting the record straight.

Related: Cardi B Hilariously Joked About Getting Plastic Surgery—This Is Why We Love Her

The 31-year-old mom of three didn’t hold back. In a candid post on X, she explained that her appearance in a recent video was influenced by shapewear—not a surgeon’s scalpel. “Y’all really need to relax ..This is how my body REALLY LOOKS LIKE,” she wrote of the recent clip she posted to social media showing off her post-baby bod. “My body looks exaggerated in the other video cause I have a 5X faja on,” she said, referring to her shapewear garment.

The rapper went on to add, “I want yall to think wit yall brain ..Yall was just praising my body couple days ago …do yall think I went and got surgery in 2 days ?” Still, this clapback hasn’t stopped fans from making comments about Cardi B’s plastic surgery experiences. Keep on reading ahead to see what other procedures the “Up” singer has spoken about getting in the past.

Did Cardi B get plastic surgery?

As fans of the rapper know, this isn’t the first time Cardi has been open about body modifications. Just days before addressing the rumors that she got plastic surgery following the birth of her third child in September 2024, Cardi actually took to social media to share details about her journey with butt injections. In a recent Instagram Live session, she revealed that she had undergone a procedure in January 2024 to remove some of these injections, which she originally got back in 2014.

“I got some more butt injections removed because you know it takes rounds to get your butt injections removed, and I also went to fix certain things with my fibrosis,” Cardi explained to her followers.

The injections in question were biopolymers, a type of liquid silicone gel. Medical professionals have since warned about the potential dangers of butt injections, citing risks of serious health complications.

In a twist of fate, Cardi discovered she was pregnant with her third child around the same time of her procedure. The rapper, who shares two other children with her estranged husband Offset, expressed relief that her recent surgery didn’t affect her baby’s health.

Cardi’s openness about her cosmetic procedures isn’t new. She has previously confessed to having had breast implants, rhinoplasty, and liposuction. In 2019, she even had to postpone several performances to recover from a procedure after the birth of her first child.

When asked about her transparency about her plastic surgery procedures, Cardi once told E! News, “It was important for me because I don’t like lying about things.” She went on to explain the misconceptions about the recovery process, noting that it’s much longer and more involved than many people realize. “Like when you see somebody that had lipo you think that they just go into the doctor’s and like boop, you come out and you look amazing, but it’s actually like a very long process, recovery,” she shared. “It actually takes like a little bit more than three or four months.”

The Grammy winner has also used her platform to caution fans about the risks of certain cosmetic procedures. In a previous Instagram Live, she warned her younger followers about the dangers of getting butt injections, especially when done in non-medical settings.

PHOTOS: RHOC’s Tamra Judge Debuts Healed New Face After $15K Brow Lift and Chemical Peel as Fans Claim She Looks the Same, Plus She Removes Hair Extensions

Tamra Judge debuted her new face on Instagram on Tuesday. But despite undergoing a brow lift, blue chemical peel, and CO2 laser, her fans and followers couldn’t see a difference.

As she shared a video of herself with makeup and no hair extensions, the 57-year-old Real Housewives of Orange County cast member declared that she’s feeling “more like [herself]” as she offered an update on her plastic surgery journey.

“Feeling more like myself again—11 days post-op and healing up!” Tamra wrote in the caption of her September 10 clip on Instagram. “Been binging This Is Us (yes, I know I’m super late to the party), but seriously, who else is obsessed?!”

In the accompanying video, Tamra proclaimed, “She’s back,” as she gave her fans and followers a look at her plastic surgery results.

“I have makeup on today because I had to record my podcast, and I just kind of felt like I wanted to look pretty today. I’m so sick of looking like a freaking monster,” Tamra admitted. “I have no hair extensions. I have no hair left. I don’t hate it, though. Skin’s still a little pink, but overall, everything’s good. I still have staples in my head. Those come out on Thursday. [I’m] feeling kind of back to myself except it’s 120 degrees outside and the heat hurts. It burns my skin so I’m just staying inside.”

“The eyebrows are relaxing so they’re not as high up, so they’re relaxing so they’re looking good,” she added.

Meanwhile, in the comments section of the post, fans struggled to find the difference between how Tamra looked before and how she looks now.

“You look the same,” one person wrote.

“I literally do not see any changes,” another agreed.

While we’ve published past posts sharing individual experiences with plastic surgery such as rhinoplasty and breast reductions, as well as non-invasive procedures like Botox, microblading (a guest poster), and laser hair removal (Kat and two friends, plus an open thread), we’ve never had a general open thread about plastic surgery. Let’s do one today! What are your thoughts about plastic surgery in general? Is a particular one popular among your friends? Have you had, or considered, plastic surgery? If you’ve had plastic surgery, how have you handled it at the office in terms of time away / changed appearance?

The pandemic undoubtedly led to a huge uptick in plastic surgery procedures, in part because staring at ourselves on Zoom for hours typically didn’t spark an ego boost (even with the distractions of those fun Zoom backgrounds we were using). Working from home made recovery from plastic surgery easier and potentially more discreet, too.

In 2022, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons released a report with these stats:

Member surgeons nationwide and found more than three-quarters of cosmetic-focused plastic surgery practices are seeing more business than before the pandemic, with nearly 30 percent reporting their business has at least doubled.

    Doubled!

    Here’s one more excerpt:

The survey also found that women between the ages of 31 and 45 were by far the most likely to request popular procedures such as breast augmentations, liposuction and tummy tucks. … [M]illennials are not only savvy about their options, but are also more open about their choice to seek plastic surgery than older generations.

In the comments on last year’s “aging intentionally” post, which was more about “minor” procedures such as Dysport/Botox (young women getting “preventative Botox” is a whole other story!), and on other posts, readers have discussed their myriad thoughts on plastic surgery.

Let’s consolidate that discussion today — and here are some questions to kick it off:

    1. What do you think about plastic surgery in general — for you, and for others? (That could be either for women / feminine-presenting people specifically, or for any gender.)

    2. Do you notice a specific age/generation of your friends (and others) deciding to get plastic surgery? Does a specific surgery seem particularly popular among them?

    3. Have you had, or considered, plastic surgery? What kind, how many procedures, and what were the results?

    4. If you’ve had plastic surgery, how have you handled it at the office in terms of time away / changed appearance?

  • Women who accused Phoenix doc of botched surgeries want restraining order

Women who accused Phoenix doc of botched surgeries want restraining order

Two metro Phoenix women who sued a Glendale doctor over allegations that he performed plastic surgeries while drunk and disfigured them now claim they’ve been threatened and fear for their safety.

Wendy Ellsworth and Alicia Armijo sued Dr. Bradley Becker last fall for medical negligence, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Since then, they and their attorney, Robert Gregory, have been on the receiving end of threats, stalking and intimidation that have left them concerned about the safety of their families, according to documents filed with Maricopa County Superior Court on Feb. 15.

The women and their attorney want to meet with sheriff’s deputies to discuss their safety and allegations of threats. They also are seeking a restraining order against Becker. In the meantime, Ellsworth asked a judge to make her lawsuit against Becker inactive for four months, while Armijo wants to dismiss her case.

“Because of the fear that Plaintiffs are presently experiencing regarding their personal safety, and their strong belief that either Dr. Becker or those acting on his behalf are seeking to intimidate Plaintiffs so that they will dismiss their action against him, Plaintiffs are not able to continue the instant action until they are able to coordinate recent events with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and to take whatever action is appropriate to secure their safety,” Gregory wrote in a motion filed in Ellsworth’s case.

In a motion for Armijo’s case, Gregory wrote that Armijo doesn’t want to continue her case while “pursuing her options with the Maricopa Sheriff’s Office” but isn’t “surrendering her claims against Dr. Becker.

“Plaintiff has expressed to her counsel her concern that continuing with this litigation will constitute an ongoing threat to her personally and will create additional emotional anxiety and fear,” Gregory wrote in the motion.

Ellsworth and Armijo alleged in affidavits that since suing Becker, they have seen vehicles parked in front of their homes and, on one occasion, Armijo said she spotted Becker in a vehicle outside her home before he sped away. Gregory said he received a threatening phone call from an unknown number in which the callers said they knew who he was and demanded to know where he lived.

Becker denied the latest allegations in an affidavit filed on Wednesday.

“I have no information about or involvement in any of the alleged incidents of unknown persons allegedly being parked outside or driving by or near the homes of Alicia Armijo or Wendy Ellsworth, and I also have no information about or involvement with any persons allegedly following Ms. Armijo or Ms. Ellsworth while they walked outside or near their homes or elsewhere,” Becker said in the court filing.

Richard Kent, one of Becker’s lawyers, also requested that the court dismiss Ellsworth’s lawsuit.

Phoenix New Times first reported the women’s lawsuits and detailed their experiences with Becker in December. The suits accused Becker of performing plastic surgeries while drunk and botching the operations. Becker, in a court filing, said he “complied with the standard of care” and that he was not impaired during the surgeries.

    Strange cars and demand letters

In the weeks after they filed the lawsuits — Ellsworth on Sept. 30 and Armijo on Oct. 2 — strange things started to happen, according to their affidavits.

Armijo called Ellsworth on Oct. 22 and said that Becker had allegedly driven by her house in Surprise. She recognized the surgeon as he drove slowly by, she said in the court filing, but the vehicle sped off before she was able to get the full license plate number. Armijo said her 14-year-old son also witnessed the event and “could attest to seeing a man fitting the description of Becker.”

Kent said Armijo was spreading a “false narrative” on social media and in the press, according to the court document filed on Wednesday.

“The fact that Ms. Armijo never made any reference to this alleged event that occurred on October 22, 2023, until almost four months later — when she is desperate to keep her lawsuit from being dismissed and while she is in the process of attempting to drum up additional media attention for her claims — is further evidence that her allegation is not credible and not a basis for the Court to take any action other than dismissing this lawsuit,” Kent wrote.

Gregory, Armijo’s attorney, filed a motion on Feb. 16 to dismiss her lawsuit.

About a week after Armijo claimed to see Becker in October, Ellsworth said an unfamiliar car parked outside of her home, according to court documents. As she went on a walk with her son in their neighborhood, she noticed a black sedan idling outside her home. When she walked to the end of her driveway, it abruptly sped off.

Ellsworth and Armijo did not notice anything suspicious for several weeks. Then, New Times reported on their lawsuits on Dec. 29. That was followed by coverage from at least two national media outlets.

Afterward, “many women who had undergone cosmetic surgery by Dr. Becker contacted me and/or Alicia about similar experiences they had had at the time of their respective surgeries. More specifically, these women informed us that Dr. Becker appeared to be in an altered state of mind at the time of their surgeries,” Ellsworth said in her affidavit.

On Jan. 18, Ellsworth hosted a meeting with 10 of those women at her house. Gregory also attended. Between Jan. 22 and Feb. 8, nearly all of the women received letters from Raees Mohamed, an attorney for Becker, according to the affidavit. None of the women had filed a lawsuit against Becker at the time they received the letter, making them question why they received the letter.

Mohamed told New Times that the surgeon is considering a defamation case against some of the women. He added that he decided which women to send the letter to based on their statements about Becker on social media.

‘It was very intentional and threatening’

In her affidavit, Ellsworth alleged that in late January, she and her husband were walking around their neighborhood with their children when a white sedan approached them from the opposite direction.

“Instead of going wide to avoid us like normal drivers would do, the white sedan deliberately drove dangerously close to us, making us concerned they would deliberately strike one of the kids,” Ellsworth said. “They narrowly missed striking the kids a couple times. We turned around as they drove by to see who was in the vehicle but were unable to identify the occupants because of the darkness. Instead of leaving the scene, the vehicle drove to the east end of the street, turned around, and again approached us very slowly as if to strike us.”

Ellsworth said the car then intentionally drove close to the family again, despite having to drive on the other side of the street.

“It was very intentional and threatening,” Ellsworth said. “My husband and I were terrified by the incident and didn’t know what to think about it as we live in a very upscale neighborhood in Gilbert and never experienced anything like this before.”

On Feb. 8, Ellsworth noticed two cars idling in front of her house. Her son tried to take a picture of a license plate, but the flash went off. A woman with blonde hair in a messy ponytail jumped out of a sedan and got in the other vehicle, which quickly left. Ellsworth and her son saw two men in the sedan. Afraid, they went inside and called for Ellsworth’s husband. The vehicle stayed on the street for a short time, then sped away.

“This time, the incident felt deeply personal, unnerving and terrifying,” Ellsworth wrote in her affidavit. “My fear is that the driver(s) of the vehicle(s) intended to either harm us, intimidate us or worse, harm my family. I am uncertain who they were/are.”

She told Armijo about the incident, who said she had seen an identical vehicle parked on the route to the school of Armijo’s child, and that there had been two different drivers.

The same night Ellsworth saw the two cars, Gregory received a phone call from an unknown number. The caller demanded to know the location of his home and said they knew who he was, according to court documents.

“Because of the many threatening actions taken against Wendy Ellsworth, Tyler Ellsworth, women who are contemplating legal action against Dr. Becker, and against myself, the Plaintiffs and I will be speaking with Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to explore our options in order to protect ourselves and our families,” Gregory wrote.

Becker, in his affidavit filed on Wednesday, said he was not involved in the incident in early February.

“That unknown person was not me; I do not own or drive a white sedan, was not near Ms. Ellsworth’s home any time in early February 2024, and have never driven my vehicle close to Ms. Ellsworth or her family in a threatening manner or in any manner that posed potential injury or harm to them,” Becker said.

Becker also said he has not driven by the homes of either woman and that he has not made any calls to Gregory.

I Got Dimpleplasty After 15 Years of Wanting Dimples

As a beauty editor, I pretty much have the world of products and procedures at my fingertips. I regularly test new launches from makeup to skincare, but have always steered clear of receiving any actual aesthetic treatment. All of that changed when I discovered a surgery I had honestly never heard of before: dimpleplasty, a minimally-invasive surgery that creates dimples

“OK, how?” I asked myself as I went down a rabbit hole of research. What was this sorcery that could bestow dimples upon the previously smooth-cheeked? I decided there was no better time than during a global pandemic to find out.

Stories and statistics assert that injectables and plastic surgery have proliferated during the pandemic. Call it the Zoom Effect: people have never before spent so much time staring at themselves, and in some cases, fixating on perceived flaws. Although it might play a slight factor, I can assure you that my own mounting interest in the surgery table isn’t really correlated with Zoom, or even the lockdown.

In fact, my predilection with dimples dates all the way back to 2006. When the movie ATL premiered in theaters, a cultural reset ensued. Actress Lauren London and her character New New became staples in entertainment. Her dimples were just so deep—and way too cute. Consequently, many women wanted to be “New New rocking the new, new shit”— her film character’s motto. Simultaneously, due to the sudden pervasiveness of reality television, I saw women with tattoos and piercings in unique areas. I felt drawn to the look and envisioned myself growing up to have sleeve tattoos, face tats and cheek piercings. I wanted to give a bad-ass/slightly rocker tease.

However, as time progressed and life dawned on me, I grew past that yearning. I just couldn’t see myself wanting to walk around with ball piercings in my cheek in order to get a dimple (which would also impart a little hole mark on the cheek that I don’t want on my face). With dimpleplasty, sutures are stitched inside of the mouth, leaving no external scars and producing a natural-looking dimple after the healing process is completed.

“There are different layers of tissue in your face,” explains Dr. David Shafer, MD, FACS, the doctor who I called up to explain this seemingly unknown method. “Some of those layers are interconnected in some people more than others. People with dimples have more connections between those layers,” he elaborated.

I needed more of an explanation.

“Think of it like a quilt that has buttons along it or a tufted couch,” Dr. Shafer maintained in visual explanatory form when we met in his Fifth Avenue office.“With dimples, you have a connection between all of those layers. With dimpleplasty, all you’re doing is taking the area you want more connected and you’re artificially doing that with dissolvable stitches. You are not removing anything. You’re just cutting through the layers and then just sewing them together.”

The biggest allure about this surgery— because let’s be clear, it is a surgery—was the fact that it doesn’t fully go through my cheek. There is nothing being put in my body, and there will be no scarring or holes left in my face. There is also a high chance that your body will heal and revert since it’s an act of trauma being caused to the muscle in your cheek— it’s not unlikely that your body may just heal it.

“The surgery is short, about 15 minutes” said Shafer, which sealed the deal with me because let’s face it—the idea of undergoing surgery is scary. During the pandemic, the protocol also requires all clients receive an in-office Covid-19 test within four to five days of their scheduled procedure. I went for mine on a Monday and scheduled the procedure for Thursday. I was beyond ready to finally have dimples.

Walking into the office on procedure day was a bit surreal. I removed my shoes and donned the equivalent of hospital socks. They handed me an operating gown that I wasn’t expecting. It frightened me.

Once we took the “before” pictures, removed all of my jewelry, and marked areas of my cheek, the nurse drew back a curtain, and a fully certified surgery operating room was in front of me. I was shooketh! I guess I was thinking it would be done on a surgical chair, but no baby. This was a whole set. It was like walking into a scene from Beyoncé’s “Pretty Hurts” video and my emotions began to run rampant.

After numbing my cheek, tools went flying back and forth between the doctor and the nurse right in front of my eyes. I laid with my mouth open not feeling a thing. At some point, there were so many tools being passed that I thought it better for me to shut my eyes. They were giving me anxiety. From one cheek to the other, I would guess I was in the operating room for about 40 minutes in total. As they finished and I rose to a face mirror, I was so damn shocked that I just had surgery. I could visibly see the stitching on both cheeks. There were two stitch divots on each side of my cheek that legit looked like a set of baste stitches. I immediately expressed my concern to Dr. Shafer, and he assured me they would disappear within the month of healing. A MONTH!

Throughout the day as the local numbing wore off, my mouth did hurt and it swelled a bit. I took the prescriptions that were waiting for me and I pretty much tapped out. I needed to rest.

Over the next couple of days, I intensely stared at the stitch in my face. By the fourth day, the stitch did start to loosen up and began to look like it would disappear. The dimples no longer looked like two separate baste stitches on each side, but one indentation. When I went back to Dr. Shafer a week later for my follow-up I was feeling so much better about the trajectory.

As of one and a half weeks post-surgery, I love the dimples. I do have some scarring and hyperpigmentation where the stitch was on the right side of my cheek. But ultimately, I’m very happy with the results. And I look forward to my three-month follow-up: will the dimples last, or will I have to get them redone? Only time will tell.
